Well, here's my definition of being over-competitive. To give us an idea of what the other is thinking, of course.
Gym class hero. You know, those overboard tryhards in gym class. You know the ones. I've got a couple people who a borderline to that in my own PE class. Rainbow, on the other hand, or hoof in her case, would probably startle them. And not just for the fact that she's a flying, talking, colorful pony. That would be part of it sure, but let's pretends that didn't surprise them
They would all agree she is overly competitive, way more than is healthy for a gym class, and in many cases, most everything, and would begin debating as to why she acts like this.

"Those who reached my boundary, their seed is not; their hearts and their souls are finished forever and ever. As for those who had assembled before them on the sea, the full flame was their front before the harbour mouths, and a wall of metal upon the shore surrounded them. They were dragged, overturned, and laid low upon the beach; slain and made heaps from stern to bow of their galleys, while all their things were cast upon the water." - Ramesses III., Battle of the Delta

The similarities in both the unrequited love of tacos and the adorable double fist clenching is striking. This can't be mere coincidence. I now consider it canon that Sonata Dusk is happily married to a hyperintelligent hamster with whom she shares the responsibility of raising multiple children, at least one of which happening to be a French-speaking Girl Scout with cartoon bird friends.
That, or Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks was brought to you by the Sprint Framily Plan. Either way, things suddenly make a whole lot of sense.
