International Domestic Liantu (field hockey) Newswires

Postby Rejistania » Sun Aug 10, 2014 10:48 am

What is this?
This is everything about the leagues of Liantu in the countries of NationStates. Results, transfers, scandals, streakers (no pictures of these though due to NS rules), hirings, firings, victories, defeats, and even draws.

Why do you insist on calling it Liantu?
Most people think hockey refers to the version of the game played on ice. To avoid the confusion, and because it is the rejistanian term, Liantu is used. The term Liantu is Radjavedan for "game played with a stick".

How can I scorinate Liantu leagues?
Both Xkoranate and Leagion can scorinate leagues. Leagion uses the =FHWC modifier, Xkoranate has an easily usable menu. [Any questions on leagion, just TG me, I can explain more but I don't want to annoy people by making this too much about it]

Can we have a Champions' League kind of tournament?
If there is enough interest in this, sure.

Heven Mje'het Liantu Rejistaniha
First League of Rejistanian Liantu

The H1LR is also called the HL, the Heven'het Liantu (the Liantu League). Rejistanian Field Hockey is very much a Xentiran sport. So the team which won the league is the famed [and just about completely unpronouncable] Yeaivauou Ynu (/aI"?e:ja'i:wau?oU aI"nu/). The city of Yeaivauou is a tiny place, not really known for anything but the team, but given that it is the home town of industrialist Janas Kirem, and as such, the money from callcenters, sweatshops and mining went partly to a team which Kirem'he loved viewing in her past.

Relegation falls to Jiiau Junis and ironically enough Hetkali Viki (Victorious Hetkali). The teams Kaliujanda Kaletri and, for the first time ever, Tiaenu Redy will play in the top league next season. The failure of Jiiau comes at a bad time when the finances of the team are in turmoil and some of the stars of the team were missing (most notoriously Janhamit Iaeta due to a 6 month jail sentence for tax fraud). It is likely that we are not going to see the memorable team with the inspired, and musical fans in the dizzing heights of the first league.

Jiiau Junis dissolved due to financial mismanagement

The favorite elevator team of the HL dissolved after the full scale of the financial mismanagement of manager Saikaril Sirithi~l was known, the Jiiau Junis attempted to salvage the situation by asking members for enough donations to at least conduct business. The club as such closes its doors and big names like Saiku Jitivil [Aerauma'tes], K~hitisiau Haraikiministade [Saeakiaru'tes] and Kansu Siaeua [Jiiau'tes] are freed from their contracts and in search for alternative employment in the HL, HL2 or foreign leagues. Fans are devastated. "Jiiau was the one thing, which gave me hope!" a fan who wanted to remain anonymous stated. "If Saikaril drags his ass into Jiiau ever again, he will lose it! If he only gets killed, he will have been a very lucky fellow!!" Kiril Laristu, of the Jiiau Junis fan club stated before adding: "This is not a threat, this is a prediction. I an saying it will happen, not that I will have anything to do with it." If you are affected by suicidal thoughts in the wake of this, please do not hesitate to seek help. The suicide prevention hotline can be reached via +512 11311 7265293 (+512 11311 SANJA'XE).

Maybe due to this, Saikaril Sirithi~l [Jiiau'tes] is at large, hiding not only from the fans, but also from the authorities as he is investigated for fraud. We will report more on this story as it happens.

Ko-orenite Field Hockey - Season 10

Results

It's already the tenth season in Ko-oren, and finally the rest of the world caught on. Field Hockey is pretty ok apparently, and hopefully there's going to be another competition that should be dominated by Greenblue teams. Like the Field Hockey World Cup some time ago. That we eventually choked in the final is a different story though.

Two conferences, one for Eastern teams, one for Western teams. To cut back on traveling, teams only play in their own conference. Twenty games. That's four against each other team in their conference (2x6 teams). The best eight (yes, that's eight out of twelve) go to the playoffs. With first the Eastern teams slaughtering Eastern teams, and Western teams getting rid of other Western teams. Only the best of each conference are left for the Grand Final, and this year that match is between the East's Blauwmeer-Donkerberg-Groenhoek, a result of merger after merger, and the Western Marycrest Point, who for some reason managed to get to the Grand Final after placing fourth in the conference. Fourth out of six. Thanks to permissive playoff formats.

And that while Marycrest Point is the least scoring team of them all (17). Amacos, second place in the East, was the most scoring team (48), while Springwood (first in West) had the best defence (just 21 conceded). All three so far qualified for the playoffs. The team with (by far) the worst defence plays in the East, and obviously finished dead last: Kanashira.

Anyhow, Blauwmeer-Donkerberg-Groenhoek is the winner of the 10th season, leaving Marycrest Point behind with a 3-2 in the final.
