Olastor's bid for International FireStorm Cup VIII

Where?

Olastor may not be that well known on the international sports scene, currently participating in what is their fourth World Cup, after a dismal introduction to the international football scene. In their first five competitions (2 Copa Rushmoris, the Baptism of Fire and two WC qualis), they managed a great record of 1-5-19. However, the coalition of companies that passes for a government here decided that the masses would be more productive if they had something to get behind, a properly working national team and a proper national league. And hence things turned around, with the first season of the Olastian Premier League having just concluded, and two wins from two games in the current World Cup qualifiers. Winning the hosting rights for this tournament would also be a step forward in Olastian football.

As for the nation itself, well, Olastor is a corporate dictatorship based somewhere in southern Rushmore (and we can't tell you where until the Polarian cartographers officially decide to give us some land). However we can tell you that the main part of the nation is on the mainland, with a few large islands making up the country. Widely acknowledged by the WA as one of the worst places to live, or even be, in Rushmore (#1 awards for the Most Avoided, Shortest average Lifespans, and the Rudest and Fattest Citizens all attest to that), especially if you're poor. The number of businesses in the country means that Olastor is one of the top economic capitals in Rushmore, along with more familiar names such as Sargossa and Karditan, and indeed Olastor is the market leader in around a dozen sectors. However, step out of the bounds of the laws, and you find yourself pretty stuffed, as there are few Civil Rights, and even fewer Economic Freedoms.

Who?

Olastor is the OOC puppet of Eastfield Lodge, although there is no IC relation between the two nations (except that both reside in Rushmore). My experience is rather limited, especially given that Eastfield Lodge has been on NS Sports since World Cup 49 (at the back end of 2009, which makes it over 4 and a half years). The tournaments I have hosted are: Market Cup 4, my own Imperial Commonwealth Soccer Cup, the 2nd Seniors Cup and then emergency hosting the latter stages of Beach Cup 7. However, being here for so long, I do have plenty of experience with scorination, from my own leagues and lots of friendlies, as well as having experience of a wide range of RP'ing styles (I'll admit, it's not the best NSSports CV).

How?

Scorination will be done using NSFS 3.0.1a, the one with variable max rank and variable style mods. I won't reveal the bonus scale, although it will be relatively generous compared to the rankings. The bonus will be cumulative and also degrading, although there will be a separate non-degrading bonus for rosters.
Format wise, I'm open to any numbers of teams signing up, but obviously, the easier the numbers the better. For example, with 52 teams signed up at the moment, that would make 13 groups of 4, but I would ideally like 64 teams. The format will be groups followed by knockouts, although I may use two group stages to increase the relative time everybody plays (and I may also end up structuring it so every team has a finishing rank, similar to what I did in Market Cup 4, but probably with knock-outs).

Every game is important in everyone's heart in the land of Star United States, not putting importance to if it's game a soccer game down the block played at a local field or on a street, or a World Cup Qualifier played at a World-Class Stadium. The love for sports is shown through the streets of Star United States.Star United States opens the Starian borders once again for the International FireStorm Cup. The Star United States National Soccer Association offers the following stadiums for this honourable event: Star Stadium, Golden Stadium, Five-Point Stadium, and the Sunrise Stadium.

OOC: Star United states has been in the cabin of Nssports for some time,he has hosted the first, fourth, and fifth Star Triathlon Worldwide Tournament, International FireStorm Cup VI, and many friendlies - including a national league of sports. As you can see he is very experienced at hosting competitions and is ready to host another one.

IC: Patistan,a very diverse place at the east rain forests that are full of Native people at the west metropolitan cities that catch the worlds eyes. Patistan is home to the best of the best sportsmen and woman in the world. All the stadiums are filled if any international team comes to Patistan,and it will be the countries new groove if it can host the International Firestorm Cup. Football as long as anybody can remember has been the eye of many young Patistanians. For this prestigious event the PFF offers many world-class stadiums: Tachi National Stadium,Unity Stadium,Patistan national Stadium and the Moon stadium.

OOC: Patistan has been in the world of Nssports for a acknowledged time,sadly he hasnt hosted any competitions till yet. He looks for the firestorm cup to be the first,but dont fret cause Patistan has scorinated many friendlies and a regional league,hi now trying to move in with the big guns.

Format

Competition:Currently they are 40 teams signed up so using those statistics we are going to make 8 groups of 5 with the top two progressing to the round of 16 and onwards.

Scorinating: We are going to use Xkoronate with the SQIS formula and the RP scale will be from 0.000-1.000

RP:Quality is favoured upon Quantity,but RP along the lines of "My team won we scored these many goals" will not gather much RP bonus, Also Star United States and I will be providing RP opportunities (events) throughout the tournament. Bonus Points will be accumulated, and move from one round to the next.

OK, whilst I'm setting up the everything thread, I'll leave the structure of the tournament here for everyone to see:

With Ribth's CTE, that leaves us with 66 teams signed up. Which means that we will have 11 groups of 6 with a single single-round robin. The top two of each group and the 9 best third placed teams go through automatically, with the remaining two third placers having a playoff to decide the last qualifier. And then it's straight single leg knockouts all the way to the final.
