I swear, if Israel trades as many people as they did last time...

I'll still support them. I just think it's a bad idea to trade so many terrorists for one solider, like they did last time.

Ignoring the allegations that an Israeli soldier was taken prisoner it appears that both sides were exchanging mortar/tank firing during the "cease-fire", although finding an accurate timeline seems difficult right now.

But the Gaza health ministry reported that at least 35 Palestinians were killed and up to 100 injured in an Israeli attack near the southern town of Rafah after the ceasefire began.

That's fucked up if true.

On CNN, a reporter read a dispatch from the Israeli Defense Forces. I of course don't have the exact text, but I can relate the content as well.

Israeli forces were in the process of "decommissioning" a Hamas tunnel, when they were ambushed by Hamas forces at the site of the tunnel (there were no details given on which side of the tunnel the "decommissioning" was taking place); it was in this exchange that the Israeli soldier was taken prisoner. It was at this point that Israel viewed the ceasefire as annulled, and resumed firing.

pretty sure there have been several that lasted their entire agreed time, although admittedly not extended. then there's the 6 month and 1-2 year ceasefires that went pretty ok until the end. please don't be so cynical. :-)

Well, to be fair, it WAS John Kerry who initiated the ceasefire so my hopes were not all that high on the checks and balances of it.

(Poll) do you support Israel, Gaza or Neither

Postby Parti » Fri Aug 01, 2014 9:40 am

Do yous support Israel, Gaza or neither. i personally support people of Gaza in their blight against Israel, but i call for a one state solution for the Israelis and Palestinians. I dint put "Palestinians" (people in Gaza are Palestinians) because operation protective edge is not attacking the West Bank.

He is right. There is a separate code of laws for Jews and non-Jews. Jews get far more privileges than non-Jews.

Israel is clearly the worst in this conflict, they have killed over 1,000 Palestinians and the majority of them have been fucking civilians. I mean even the United States has voted not to give them any more missiles.

Israel fails to protect the holy sites and buildings of other religions, while promising protection for the Jewish ones. That is fucking unacceptable, either protect them all or don't protect any at all.

The 1967 Protection of Holy Sites Law protects all holy sites, but the government has implemented regulations only for 137 Jewish sites, leaving many Muslim and Christian sites neglected, inaccessible, or threatened by property development.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_righ ... f_religion

The city of Jerusalem has given financial support to Muslim religious activities as well has giving them facilities for their use. Israel does not give funding to some religious communities including Protestants.

That's very clearly discrimination.

That's discrimination not persecution. Israel is at the end of the day a Jewish state and as a consequence of that is that the government protects Jewish holy sites but not others. It's not as though it's destroying them, it's just not taking care of them. I support separation of church and state in Israel, which would hopefully stop all funding to religious sights, or at least fund them all equally, but sadly the government has much more important things to take care of. Still this does not prove that Israel is persecuting Christians.
