(OOC: Yeah, this isn't the best, but I'd like to get a new result in for the UICA. I'll have a full season review/transfer market preview available in the coming days. I'm also planning on re-structuring my league system, so expect that done by the next transfer deadline.

AmpiSport Sicoutimont Champion's League: Season 11

A full football season is back, fans! Seasid FC had to play its first 12 home games in stadiums rotating around the Manicougan province while the Stade TeleMani was fixed from the damage hurricanes did. The big stories this year were, could Real Ile Perrot defend their Champion's Cup-qualifying season and win the league? The addition of star talents like Valladar national team keeper Migual Rodriguez and Northern Sunrise Islands' striker Mixe. There was concern from league traditionalists about Mixe's transfer, as she would be the first female to play in the league. But those traditionalists were small in number, and many Real Ile Perrot fans were excited the day the new stars were welcomed. The other big transfer of the window was Lac-Drouin St-Pierre acquiring Guayabalnese midfield Gonzalo Mazzio. With the rosters set, it was certainly an exciting season. Who would get relegated to Ligue-2, who would come up? Who would make the biggest splash for a new international player? Find out here, and in the Season Review!

What a season. Only 3 points seperated the top of the table from the bottom. But still, it was Lac-Drouin City's first AmpiSport Sicoutimont Champion's League victory! Congrats to the winners, who show that all the international talent in the world can't always win. But, they'll certainly be active on the market this offseason, looking to bring in some more talent to help this team at the Champion's Cup and next season. For the other teams, it's a quest that ends with defeat, and a desire to do better next season. We'll have more in the League Review.

SFA Cup Final
FC Tallonts 1–0 Real Val-Maurice

FC Tallonts pull off a miracle and win the SFA Cup! What an accomplishment for the team from the north of the country, winning their first SFA Cup. The final was less-than-expected, with 2 teams who finished out of the top 10 in the season, and one who was almost relegated. It was a close, defensive match at Stade St-Pierre in Lac-Drouin, but a 67th minute goal from Jean Dupont sealed the deal for the FCT club, who were once near the top of the ASSCL before being relegated, then returning to the top division. So, that sets up the Emperor's Shield for next season, with the Cup winner taking on League Winner Lac-Drouin City.

ASSCL League Restructured!

LAC-DROUIN -- The ASSCL Board of Directors and SFA Director Rene Rochefort have left the annual Year-End Conference at the Palais de Congres International du Lac-Drouin. Big changes have been proposed for some time, and this year, the change was made. At a press conference, full details of the new league system were restructured. There will now be 4 leagues affiliated with the SFA, all known under the new brand name AmpiSport Premier League. The top division is the exact same as it is now, 30 teams all competing for the League Championship. Due to the ASPL's UICA ranking, 2 Champion's Cup and 3 Globe Cup participants will come from Sicoutimont. However, one thing did change at the top division. Riviere St-Denis City have, after it was supported for years by fans confused, have changed their name to SC Castle 1724. The 'SC' refers to Sporting Club, the Castle to the Castle St-Denis, the landmark of the city, and 1724 to the year the Castle was built. The name change takes away any relation to the other RSD club in the league, City Riviere St-Denis. The second division, renamed to Series-2, will once again have 16 teams, with the top 2 promoted to the Top Division and the top 4 going to the Series B Champion's Cup. Now, however, with a 3rd Division, the bottom 2 teams will also be relegated to the 3rd Division. This 3rd Division features 9 teams. The top 2 will be promoted to the Second Division, while the last-placed team is relegated to the 4th Division, also consisting of 9 teams. Throughout the season, all 64 SFA-sanctioned clubs will compete in the new SFA Cup, which will start with a Round of 64, with the 1st Placed Team taking on 64, and so on. The Quarter and Semi-Finals will be a 2-legged series, home and away. The final will rotate throughout the country every season. The last new change was the re-addition of the Emperor's Shield to the ASPL competition. It was previously contested independently for a few seasons. It will now take place 1 week before the season begins, and will feature the League Champion and the Cup Champion playing off. Here are the teams that will contest Series-3 and Series-4 next season:

FC Dupont-sur-Lac
St-Leonard Town
Beaudette City
Real San Cristobal
La Espanola FC
Davidstown FC
Mermouth FC
St-Bruno-des-Monts FC
CF Lac-Geneve 1922

Rigby Town
Bridgetown FC
United St. Alberts
Sault-Drouin FC
United Mont-Sonora
FC Belleveux
Lac-Verieux FC
Riviere-du-Loup United
CF St-Lazare

We can't wait to see how this will all turn out next season! With the SFA Cup Final finished, we'll be back with a Season Preview featuring the Emperor's Shield. Then, tune in for the 1st Matchdays of the new ASPL season! More details about other decisions on the 2nd Day of the Year-End Conference from Lac-Drouin will be announced, although it is likely now more about finalizing details about these new important changes. The new teams, formed from already-existing amateur football clubs in their city, are now going and finding skilled players to play for them. See you back here for the season!

LBS Season 12

After an exciting off-season, featuring many transactions and interesting movements, we return for another season of baseball. Once again, as last year, 5 teams will make the play-offs, the top 3 going straight to the First Round while fourth and fifth must battle for the right the the fourth spot in the First Round. From there, the champion, and Sicoutimont's entries to the BCCC, will be decided. The league next year is switching the format to a conference-based format, with two leagues, similar to that of many other nations. One league will be the Sicoutian League, or 'SL', while the other is not known. The league would have liked to do that this year, but the Player's Union voted down the proposal. Here is the results of Season 12 of the LBS!

LBS Season 12 Pld W L RF RA RD Pts
1 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 150 106 44 623 409 +214 212
2 Ile Perrot Epee 150 104 46 682 448 +234 208
3 St-Simeon Mets 150 99 51 618 483 +135 198
----------------First Round of Playoffs, BCCC---------------------------------
4 Riviere St-Denis Rangers 150 98 52 644 418 +226 196
5 Orleans Royales 150 87 63 580 501 +79 174
--------------Wildcard Round to Reach Playoffs, BCCC--------------------
6 Baie-Eternite Cardinals 150 82 68 642 524 +118 164
7 Val-Maurice Foreurs 150 76 74 559 549 +10 152
8 Lac-Bouchard Bass 150 68 82 599 603 −4 136
9 Richelieu Redhawks 150 65 85 595 680 −85 130
10 Lac-Drouin Tigres 150 65 85 543 653 −110 130
11 St-Pierre Orioles 150 63 87 584 648 −64 126
12 Pontiac Chiefs 150 61 89 544 617 −73 122
13 Edmundston Anglers 150 59 91 527 676 −149 118
14 St-Simeon Sicoutians 150 59 91 540 705 −165 118
15 La Espanola Conquistadors 150 56 94 551 723 −172 112
16 Arbreville Vert-Sox 150 52 98 492 686 −194 104

Wildcard
Riviere St-Denis Rangers 10–1 Orleans Royales

-So, the Rangers become the second team from Riviere St-Denis to advance through the Wildcard round to the First Round of the Playoffs. Could they also become the second team to win by coming through the Wildcard? They must take on the Ile Perrot Epee to do so, the 3-time BCCC champions being tough opposition. On the other side, the Riviere St-Denis Red Sox will take on the St-Simeon Mets to reach the final.

First Round: Best-of-Seven Series
(1) Riviere St-Denis Red Sox vs (3) St-Simeon Mets
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 6–3 St-Simeon Mets (RSS 1-0)
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 2-1 St-Simeon Mets (RSS 2-0)
St-Simeon Mets 8-5 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox (RSS 2-1)
St-Simeon Mets 2–4 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox (RSS 3-1)
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 9–7 St-Simeon Mets (RSS Wins Series 4-1)

-As expected, the defending champions of Sicoutimont baseball roll through the first round and reach the finals.

(2) Ile Perrot Epee vs (WC) Riviere St-Denis Rangers
Ile Perrot Epee 8–5 Riviere St-Denis Rangers (IPE 1-0)
Ile Perrot Epee 5–2 Riviere St-Denis Rangers (IPE 2-0)
Riviere St-Denis Rangers 5–3 Ile Perrot Epee (IPE 2-1)
Riviere St-Denis Rangers 2–0 Ile Perrot Epee (Tied 2-2)
Ile Perrot Epee 3–2 Riviere St-Denis Rangers (IPE 3-2)
Riviere St-Denis Rangers 3–6 Ile Perrot Epee (IPE 4-2)

-Epee had more trouble with the wildcard side then they would have liked, but they take the series in 6 games. That sets up the Sicoutimont Series between the Riviere St-Denis Red Sox and the Ile Perrot Epee!

Sicoutimont Series
(1) Riviere St-Denis Red Sox vs (2) Ile Perrot Epee
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 6–7 Ile Perrot Epee (IPE 1-0)
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 7–0 Ile Perrot Epee (Tied 1-1)
Ile Perrot Epee 3–2 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox (IPE 2-1)
Ile Perrot Epee 3–5 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox (Tied 2-2)
Riviere St-Denis Red Sox 2–7 Ile Perrot Epee (IPE 3-2)
Ile Perrot Epee 4–1 Riviere St-Denis Red Sox (IPE 4-2)

-The Ile Perrot Epee are the Champions once again! For the Red Sox, it's all about missed chances, losing two home games, both important. Had they gotten a run in the 13th inning of Extra Innings rather than giving up one in the first game, they have a 2-0 lead after the first home games. They snagged one of the away series, but lost the pivotal game 5 at home, which set the Epee up to win at home. That first game is no Sicoutimont-New Montreal States thriller, but it is a classic, and will go down in history with the best games of the Sicoutimont Series. To close, here are some lists for you, the Previous Champions listing and the BCCC Qualifiers listing.

Previous Champions:
I: St-Simeon Mets
II: St-Simeon Mets (2)
III: St-Simeon Mets (3)
IV: St-Simeon Mets (4)

Lega Venalzio Season 1: Preview

In the Most Serene Republic of Venalzio, a major trading port and city-state, football is by far the number one sport. But, as everything else in the country, it revolves around the time of the Markets in our nation. During the Markets, everyone in the nation is mobilized to help bring in and sell the goods to the foreign traders. There are two markets in the year, the Summer Market, from June to August, and the Winter Market, in December and the first week of January. Due to this long break in between, the Lega-V has decided, for its first international season, to split the season into two parts. The first part, or 'Apertura', will be played from the last week of August to the first week of December, and will see each of the 8 teams play each other twice for 14 games. After the winter markets, the 'Chiusura' will take place, from the second week of January to the last week in April. Therefore, there will be two champions. To determine the ultimate champion of the season, the Apertura and Chiusura champions will play off in the Supercoppa Venalzio, taking place the first week in May. The winner of the Supercoppa Venalzio will go to the UICA Champion's Cup, while the second place plus the second place team in both seasons will qualify for the Globe Cup. Here are the eight teams who will contest the inaugural Lega Venalzio season.

Commercianti
Pisani -- Lucchesi (C), Corleone, Russo -- Ricci, Tuscani, Torcini, Guildio, -- Mancini, Ritolo, Fontane
Fans/Team Outlook: The fans of Commercianti (The Merchants) are the loudest in the nation, and in games, especially against rivals AC Venalzio, they will be heard. Like the players, fans work in the markets as salesmen, which is how they got their name. The club is owned by the richest Merchant's Group in the nation, and has a lot of money for player salaries and purchases.
Rivals: Major: AC Venalzio, Minor: San Michele
Season Preview: Commercianti will look to finish in the top three of the table in both Apertura and Chiusura, and many feel that they will win one of these tournaments, and possibly the Supercoppa. For this team to succeed, Luigi Pisani will have to be at his best in goal, with a strong defence with Giorgio Lucchesi, Riccardo Corleone and Mario Russo. If this team falters, it will be because they do not score enough.

San Michele
Conti -- Piazzo, Piazzo -- Trevisani, Piccio (C), Rucchesi -- Lombardi, Lori -- Beneventi, Luciano, Neri
Fans/Team Outlook: San Michele's are the quieter type of fans. The type who return from church Sunday and head straight to the pitch to see this team, owned by the Chiesa San Michele, play. The players of this club are usually spread out in their jobs during the markets, as are the fans. They do not have as much money as teams like Commercianti, but feel they can be competitive.
Rivals: Major: Contadini, Minor: Commercianti
Season Preview: This team isn't expected to win the league titles, but they are expected to put in a good showing in both seasons. The key to success is the Piazzo brothers, Ottilio and Bruno. If they are on top form, this club will perform well. If this club falters, it's because they did not perform to their abilities.

I Cittadini
Rossi -- Alzani, Esposito (C), Clemenza -- Mania, Mansanti, Barese, La Fontaini -- Belluchi, Rizzi, Milanese
Fans/Team Outlook: I Cittadini have behind them the support of much of middle-class Venalzio, not the richest in the country, but also not the poorest. They are owned by a smaller Merchant's Group, and have some money for player transfers. Because of their stand as the club of the middle-class, they have a huge rivalry, called by many simply "Il Feudo," or, 'the feud', with Contadini, seen as the club of the lower-class.
Rivals: Major: Contadini
Season Preview: This team is the most attacking team in the league, in a hugely defensive atmosphere. So, if the main strength of this team is shut down, there will be nowhere to hide for the defence, who will have the rescue the forwards quite often. If this team succeeds, it will be because the strikers succeeded, likewise, if they fall, it will be because the strikers faltered.

Marinai
Detori -- Conti, Sal, Lucchese (C), Manna -- Giordano, Lupo, Vitale -- Lazano, Ferrari, Garro
Fans/Team Outlook: The first of two clubs mainly occupied by players who work the seas, Marinai, or Sailors, are owned by the Sailing Club of Venalzio, and have a large amount of fans who also occupy this profession. The players sail back and forth with goods going to and from foreign lands. They have a large rivalry with the other team in the nation who works the seas, I Pescatori, 'the fishermen'.
Rivals: Major: I Pescatori
Season Preview: On the contrary to I Cittadini, this is the most defensive team in the league. Every player contributes to the defensive formation, and if it falters, this team will go down in flames. To succeed, the forwards need to be great two-way players, strong on both offence and defence.

Contadini
Udinese -- Girardi, Greco, Lupani, Lampone (C) -- Amsotta, Rossi, Giordano, Mariano, Stracci, Tattaglia
Fans/Team Outlook: Contadini are the club of the lower-class, and that is reflected in their fan base. It will be quite hard for the team to purchase great talent within the nation because of their low budget. They still, however, hope that they can be a successful team.
Rivals: Major: I Cittadini, Minor: San Michele
Season Preview: This team is also a strong defensive side, and their success will also rely on their defence. The 4-6-0 formation is not commonly used worldwide, but is a favourite of this team, and they hope that it will serve them well in their hunt to reach the Supercoppa Venalzio, which is the objective for this season. It may be a little far out of most people's projections, but not impossible.

AC Venalzio
Tommassino -- Marchesi, Guildio, Bonasera, Costa -- Mancini, Moretti, Vitale -- Campone, Brasi, Udinese (C)
Fans/Team Outlook: AC Venalzio are another of the top tier clubs in the Lega-V. They have a lot of fans across the city, and are the second largest fanbase in the nation outside Commercianti. Most of these players work in government jobs or in the markets during the Market season. They will be looking for a title this season.
Rivals: Major: Commercianti
Season Preview: As we said in the outlook, this team wants a title. Whether it is the Apertura or Chiusura, they want to play in the Supercoppa. For that to happen, everything will go as planned. This team is a strong side, and the have the capability to reach their goals.
If they do not reach the finals, it will mean something must have gone wrong.

I Minatori
Pusota -- Lucarno, Pusota, Bruno, (C) -- Gallo, Rizzi, Lombardi -- Rizzi, De Luca, Commisario, Esposito
Fans/Team Outlook: I Minatori, the team of the miners. These players and fans are experienced from years in the silver mines just outside the city walls. They are a very tight-knit, united fanbase who is very close to the team itself. The team is owned by the Mining Association, who also owns the silver mines. They don't have much for purchases, but feel they can field a strong team regardless.
Rivals: Major: I Pescatori
Season Preview: I Minatori isn't the best team in the nation, but they would still like to challenge for a Globe Cup spot, meaning either losing the Supercoppa or finishing second in either Apertura or Chiusura. If that happens, it will mean that the offence succeeded and the defence was strong. If they fall, it will mean the offence failed and the defence could not spot the onslaughts afterwards.

I Pescatori
Buccardi -- Lucchese, Caravani, Dandolo, Bruno -- Pescatori, Bonafesti -- Maranzi, Dandolo (C), Cuneo, Curatzi
Fans/Team Outlook: I Pescatori is the team of the fishermen. A very important job for the city, they are associated with the Sailing Club of Venalzio, who operates the fishing boats. Because of this, they work side by side with the Marinai, who they have a friendly but heated rivalry with. They feel that they can field a strong, competitive team.
Rivals: Major: I Minatori, Marinai
Season Preview: Pescatori are a team who will contend for the titles in both seasons. It will be hard for them to win, against some of the top teams in the country, but they want to do quite well this year. If they do, it will be because the unusual in this country 4-2-4 formation worked out. If they falter, it will because the formation did not work, and they were hemmed down into the defensive zone for most of the games.

That's it for the season preview, next coverage will include the first half of the Apertura season.

Lega Venalzio: Apertura 1/2

And so the season begins. A week after the Summer Market closed for this year, and all the hard work done to boost the nation's economy is over. Now, the fans turn to their vacation seasons. Many still have to work, but it is not the stressful period the trading season is. For the 88 footballers who hold down jobs playing for the clubs in the Lega Venalzio, now is the opening to their season. This important Apertura will determine the first participant in the Supercoppa Venalzio, and also the shape of the league for the Chiusura season, and the future seasons to be played in Venalzio. The Apertura will see each team play each other twice, for 14 games. Here is the first round of results, from the first half of the Apertura.

Matchday 1

Contadini 1–0 I Pescatori
I Cittadini 1–1 I Minatori

-Opening day did not see much action. Venalzio and San Michele drew in a 0-0 contest, while a goal from Sergio Lazaro brought Marinai to a victory over Commercianti. Marinai's Michele Manna and Contadini's Giuseppe Mariano scored for their sides as the teams drew 1-1, and in the first derby of the season, Commercianti defeated rival AC Venalzio 1-0 on the back of a goal from Luca Mancini.

Matchday 3
Commercianti 1–0 San Michele
Contadini 0–2 AC Venalzio
I Cittadini 1–1 Marinai
I Minatori 0–0 I Pescatori

-Week three saw some action, with Luca Mancini scoring his second of the year in Commercianti's 1-0 defeat of San Michele. Across the city, AC Venalzio saw Emilio Udinese and Luca Campone score in the 2-0 win over Contadini. Later in the day, a 1-1 draw between I Cittadini and Marinai saw goals from Alberto Rizzi and Paulie Garro, while the derby of the day saw a well-fought draw between I Minatori and I Pescatori.

Matchday 4
San Michele 1–1 I Pescatori
Marinai 1–3 I Minatori
AC Venalzio 0–1 I Cittadini
Commercianti 0–1 Contadini

-At week 4, we finally saw some goal-scoring going on. San Michele's first of the year came from Michael Neri, but I Pescatori got the draw from Phillip Cuneo's goal. Marinai scored first from Paulie Garro, but I Minatori got 3 more from P. Rizzi, Esposito and Vito Lucarno. AC Venalzio fell to I Cittadini off a goal from Gilberto Belluchi, and Commercianti lost to Contadini 1-0 after a goal from Vincenzo Stracci.

Matchday 5
Contadini 0–1 San Michele
I Cittadini 1–0 Commercianti
I Minatori 0–0 AC Venalzio
I Pescatori 0–0 Marinai

-Week five slipped back into the pattern of low scoring, with only 2 goals across all 4 games. I Minatori and AC Venalzio drew, and so did I Pescatori and Marinai in the derby of the week. I Cittadini scored 1 off Belluchi, and it was enough to beat Commercianti. On the other hand, followers of San Michele were happy that the team got its first victory of the year, from Michael Neri's goal to beat Contadini.

Matchday 6
San Michele 0–2 Marinai
AC Venalzio 1–4 I Pescatori
Commercianti 1–0 I Minatori
Contadini 1–0 I Cittadini

-Scoring in this league is very up and down, last week only 2 goals, this week 9 across all 4 games. San Michele fell to Marinai off Sergio Lazano's double, while AC Venalzio lost out to I Pescatori, the later scoring 4 goals, including a double from Luigi Bonafesti. The other goals from Pescatori were from Phillip Cuneo and Leo Curatzi. Venalzio got their goal from Vittorio Brasi. Elsewhere, Luca Mancini scored in Commercianti's 1-0 defeat of Minatori, and Giuseppe Mariano scored late in Contadini's derby victory over I Cittadini.

Matchday 7
I Cittadini 1–0 San Michele
I Minatori 0–0 Contadini
I Pescatori 0–2 Commercianti
Marinai 0–0 AC Venalzio

-Back to a low scoring week, only 3 goals across the games this week. I Cittadini tried to move up to the top spot halfway through the Apertura, and did so with a 1-0 win over San Michele with a goal from Leonardo Barese. I Minatori and Contadini drew 0-0, as did Marinai and AC Venalzio, who's troubles continued early in this Apertura season. In a big game, I Pescatori fell to Commercianti 0-2, Commercianti's goals coming from Luca Mancini and Michael Ritolo.

Apertura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 I Cittadini 7 3 3 1 6 4 +2 12
2 Commercianti 7 4 0 3 5 3 +2 12
3 Contadini 7 3 2 2 4 4 0 11
4 I Minatori 7 2 4 1 5 3 +2 10
5 Marinai 7 2 4 1 6 5 +1 10
6 I Pescatori 7 1 4 2 6 6 0 7
7 AC Venalzio 7 1 3 3 3 6 −3 6
8 San Michele 7 1 2 4 2 6 −4 5

Halfway through this Apertura, we can project how the opening season will turn out. From the bottom up, San Michele have not had the start they would have wanted. They'll need to improve if they want to reach the top 5 of the league, as they are quickly falling back. In 7th is AC Venalzio, who have also failed miserably in the early season. The squad projected to be at the top of the league has faltered quickly, but is still in the hunt for the title, only 6 points off of first place. They will need to be very lucky, and beat both I Cittadini and Commercianti. I Pescatori also find themselves in the bottom half of the league, but much more optimistic, only 1 game back of Marinai, I Minatori and 4th. Marinai and I Minatori will be happy with the first half of this season, they've put themselves in a great position to challenge for the Apertura Title, being only 2 points off the leaders. Contadini find themselves a point back, but will need to score more to get up there, they have the worst Goal Differential and Goals For rating of the top 5 teams. Commercianti find themselves in second, but tied with I Cittadini in points, a win by a few goals will change that quickly. I Cittadini leads the league at the Apertura halfway point, and hopes they can continue to do so in the final part of the Apertura.

Lega Venalzio: Apertura 2/2

We pick up the Apertura again in mid-October, with the 8 teams of the Lega Venalzio battling for the Lega-V Apertura title. I Cittadini leads the contenders after the first round of matches, and are closely followed by Commercianti. Contadini are behind them, and the bottom of the league sees San Michele and AC Venalzio looking to figure their way out of the bottom and back up to the top of the table. Here we are, the matches are very important now, there are 7 matches to go before the end of the Apertura, the Winter Market, and the beginning of the Chiusura.

Matchday 8
San Michele 1–2 AC Venalzio
Marinai 0–0 Commercianti
I Pescatori 1–0 Contadini
I Minatori 2–1 I Cittadini

-In a battle at the bottom of the table, AC Venalzio succeeded 2-1 over San Michele, Venalzio finding offence from Luca Campone's double, with San Michele getting a goal from Mario Luciano. Marinai forced Commercianti into a 0-0 draw, while I Pescatori took down Contadini 1-0 with a goal from Gianluigi Maranzai. In the game featuring the league leaders, I Minatori defeated Cittadini 2-1, getting goals from Nicola Esposito and Luca Commisario, while I Cittadini scored off Alberto Rizzi.

Matchday 9
I Minatori 0–1 San Michele
I Cittadini 1–0 I Pescatori
Contadini 0–1 Marinai
Commercianti 0–1 AC Venalzio

-San Michele's second win of the year was really needed for the club to give them hope to find their way out of the bottom, with Michael Neri getting the goal. I Cittadini took back the league top position with a 1-0 win over I Pescatori, getting a goal from Giovanni Esposito in the win. Marinai moved up to second place in the league with a 1-0 victory over Contadini, getting the goal from Sergio Lazano. In the derby this week, although Commercianti won the first match between these two in the Apertura, AC Venalzio continued their move up the league table with a 1-0 win over their rivals, getting a goal from Charlie Guildio.

Matchday 10
San Michele 1–0 Commercianti
AC Venalzio 1–0 Contadini
Marinai 0–1 I Cittadini
I Pescatori 1–0 I Minatori

-San Michele fans are introduced to a winning streak, as the clubs second in a row victimized Commercianti, who are falling in the table. Paolo Lombardi scored for San Michele. AC Venalzio continued their climb up the league table with a 1-0 win over Contadini, who find themselves last in the Apertura. It was once again Charlie Guildio with the goal fro Venalzio. I Cittadini defeated Marinai 1-0 to keep their league table lead with a goal from Carmine Milanesi, and I Pescatori took down I Minatori with a goal from Phillip Cuneo.

Matchday 11
I Pescatori 1–0 San Michele
I Minatori 0–3 Marinai
I Cittadini 1–0 AC Venalzio
Contadini 0–1 Commercianti

-The run up the table for San Michele ended with a 1-0 loss to I Pescatori, they are 10 points out and are eliminated from title contention. Pescatori, on the other hand, are third and only 4 points back, needing Marco Dandolo's goal to keep them there. Marinai moved back into second place with a 3-0 victory, and a hat-trick from Santino Lupo, a rarity for the mostly defensive midfielder. I Cittadini kept their hold on the league with a 1-0 win over AC Venalzio, with a goal from Alberto Rizzi, and Commercianti's Luca Mancini sealed title elimination for bottom feeders Contadini with his club's 1-0 victory.

Matchday 12
San Michele 0–0 Contadini
Commercianti 1–1 I Cittadini
AC Venalzio 1–2 I Minatori
Marinai 1–0 I Pescatori

-The bottom of the table showed why they are there with a boring 0-0 draw between San Michele and Contadini. Another draw may be a gift for the teams below them, as I Cittadini could only draw Commercianti, it being Alberto Rizzi and Luca Mancini with the goals there. I Minatori put away AC Venalzio's title hopes with a 2-1 win, goals coming from Nicola Esposito's double, and Luca Campone for AC. In the derby of the day, Marinai's late goal from Sergio Lazano gave them hope in the final days of the Apertura, putting them only 2 points back of I Cittadini.

Matchday 13
Marinai 1–1 San Michele
I Pescatori 1–0 AC Venalzio
I Minatori 3–2 Commercianti
I Cittadini 0–1 Contadini

-Just as their hopes were lifted, Marinai fans hopes were crushed by the 1-1 draw with San Michele. All I Cittadini needed now was a win against the eight-placed team going into the day. Elsewhere, I Pescatori beat AC Venalzio 1-0, while I Minatori took away Commercianti's chances of an Apertura victory with a 3-2 win. The final game of the day saw Il Feudo take place. In the exact same result as the first Il Feudo of the season, Contadini defeated I Cittadini 1-0. That sets up this for the final day: I Cittadini leads the table with 22 points, while Marinai are second with 21. I Pescatori are third with 19 points, and I Minatori are behind them in fourth with 19 points. I Cittadini plays eighth-placed San Michele, while Marinai take on AC Venalzio. I Minatori will play Contadini, while I Pescatori will take on Commercianti. And so, with none of the teams hunting the title playing each other, this should be a very exciting final day.

Matchday 14
San Michele 1–0 I Cittadini
Contadini 0–0 I Minatori
Commercianti 0–1 I Pescatori
AC Venalzio 0–0 Marinai

-What an exciting final day in the Apertura season. In the early game of the day, a win for I Cittadini would have put the title away for the club. This did not happen, as San Michele scored in the 31st minute from Angelo Lori, and played spoiler, taking their fate out of I Cittadini's hands. The next challenger for the title was I Mintori. News of I Cittadini's shocking loss came in at the half-time mark, and I Minatori knew they could take the title. It would take a win, however, and they could not deliver. I Minatori drew Contadini, and will not take the title. Next it was I Pescatori, who were taking on Commercianti. When the news of I Minatori's draw and I Cittadini's loss came to the players while they were warming up, they knew the title was theirs for the taking, and showed it with a 1-0 victory over Commercianti. Phillip Cuneo's 71st minute goal led many I Pescatori fans to believe the title was theirs, and indeed, with only 1 game left on the Apertura schedule, and their club in first, it certainly felt that way. For Marinai fans, they knew that a draw or a win would give them the title. But they were in a tough position, taking on a good team in AC Venalzio. At half, the 0-0 draw was preserved, and Marinai fell into a heavily defensive style to protect the draw. When the final whistle blew, fans knew that it was Marinai who had won the Lega Venalzio Apertura.

Apertura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Marinai 14 5 7 2 12 7 +5 22 Supercoppa Venalzio
2 I Pescatori 14 6 4 4 11 8 +3 22
3 I Cittadini 14 6 4 4 11 9 +2 22
4 I Minatori 14 5 5 4 12 12 0 20
5 Commercianti 14 5 2 7 9 10 −1 17
6 AC Venalzio 14 4 4 6 8 11 −3 16
7 San Michele 14 4 4 6 7 10 −3 16
8 Contadini 14 4 4 6 5 8 −3 16

Marinai's Apertura success included having the best defence in the league, and also tied for the best offence in the league. The number of draws they achieved, 7, most in the league, was important to the title. Their friendly rivals, I Pescatori, the fishermen, are happy with the second place finish they achieved in the Apertura. They also had a solid defence, tied for the second best in the league. If some of their losses had been made draws, they could have won the title, and missed out on the title because they didn't have as much offence as the only team ahead of them. On the other hand, even though they finished third, I Cittadini leave this Apertura with a bitter taste in their mouth, given by losses to the seventh and eighth teams in the final matches which would cost them the title. I Minatori had the worst defence in the league, but not by much, and are happy with their fourth place finish, 2 points off the title. Commercianti, on the other hand, are less happy, feeling they underperformed greatly in the season. They finished only 5 points off the title, but only one point off last. Success is required for them in the Chiusura, and without at least second, the team would have to answer to its owners. AC Venalzio faces the same crisis as Commercianti, as both clubs know they can do better than they did. San Michele, in seventh, would like to improve their defensive game, but are also happy that they managed to close the gap from first to themselves. Below San Michele are Contadini, who imploded in the second half, losing 4 in a row, drawing 2 and only managing 1 win over their rivals I Cittadini. Going into the Chiusura, though, they can hold 2 victories in Il Feudo over the heads of fans from I Cittadini.

It is still a few weeks before the Chiusura begins, with the players and fans heading back to work on the Winter Market. This will give teams like Commercianti and AC Venalzio time to rethink their approach, and also Marinai to continue to work towards their future success. We'll be back soon with results from the Chiusura, followed by the Supercoppa Venalzio and the Season Review.

After the long break for the Winter Markets, the Lega Venalzio is back! With Marinai winning the Apertura and earning a birth in the Suppercoppa Venalzio to determine who will be the Lega's UICA Champion's Cup representative. Matchday 1
AC Venalzio 0–1 San Michele
Commercianti 1–0 Marinai
Contadini 0–1 I Pescatori
I Cittadini 0–1 I Minatori

-San Michele surprise AC Venalzio with a 1-0 win, while Commercianti regain missing form with 1-0 win over the Apertura champs. I Pescatori beat Contadini 1-0, while I Mintatori carried over their form from the Apertura season to defeat rival I Cittadini 1-0 on a goal from Nicola Esposito.

Matchday 2
San Michele 2–3 I Minatori
I Pescatori 2–0 I Cittadini
Marinai 0–1 Contadini
AC Venalzio 1–2 Commercianti

-San Michele play a close loss to I Minatori, falling on a last-minute winner from Aldo De Luca. I Pescatori won by a 2-0 score over I Cittadini, taking over the top of the table on the second matchday. Marinai can't seem to get anything going yet in the Chiusura, losing 1-0 to Contadini, while Commercianti defeated AC Venalzio in the Venalzio Derby, one of the biggest rivalries in the nation.

Matchday 3
Commercianti 1–3 San Michele
Contadini 3–0 AC Venalzio
I Cittadini 1–1 Marinai
I Minatori 0–1 I Pescatori

-San Michele got another victory over a top team, beating Commercianti by a 3-1 score, with the winning goals coming from Mario Luciano's double in the second half. AC Venalzio can't win in the league this season, falling again by a 3-0 score to Contadini. I Cittadini and Marinai played out a Saturday night draw to their fans 1-1, while in a derby match, I Pescatori got the upper hand over I Minatori 1-0.

Matchday 4
San Michele 1–0 I Pescatori
Marinai 1–0 I Minatori
AC Venalzio 0–1 I Cittadini
Commercianti 0–1 Contadini

-San Michele continues to impress with their top form so far, taking 3 points with a 1-0 win over I Pescatori. Marinai finally won, defeating I Minatori 1-0, while AC Venalzio fell again, this time only 1-0 to I Cittadini. It was Commercianti the other giant who fell this matchday, losing the 1-0 match to Contadini on a goal from Luigi Amsotta.

Matchday 5
Contadini 1–0 San Michele
I Cittadini 1–3 Commercianti
I Minatori 3–0 AC Venalzio
I Pescatori 1–0 Marinai

-San Michele's win streak comes to a hold with a 1-0 loss to table toppers Contadini. Commercianti got three goals from their offence in a 3-1 win over rivals I Cittadini, while AC Venalzio and Marinai fell again, Marinai 1-0 to I Pescatori, AC Venalzio falling 3-0 this time to I Minatori. With a goal differential of -9, you have to think that the team will make some changes before the next Apertura season, unless there are some major changes in the next part of the Chiusura.

Matchday 6
San Michele 0–0 Marinai
AC Venalzio 0–0 I Pescatori
Commercianti 0–1 I Minatori
Contadini 0–2 I Cittadini

-A day of draws on week 6, San Michele and Marinai finding nothing in the 0-0 draw, and AC Venalzio taking their first point in a draw with I Pescatori. I Minatori held off Commercianti for a 1-0 victory, while in Il Feudo, it was I Cittadini's fans leaving glad as their team defeated 'forever rival' Contadini by a 2-0 score, changing things at the top of the table.

Matchday 7
I Cittadini 0–0 San Michele
I Minatori 1–2 Contadini
I Pescatori 1–0 Commercianti
Marinai 3–0 AC Venalzio

Although the week began with another draw, 0-0 with San Michele and I Cittadini, there was exciting football across the nation on this matchday. Contadini was able to defeat I Minatori 2-1, while their rivals I Pescatori got by Commercianti with a 1-0 league. In the other result, it was Marinai's turn to score 3 over AC Venalzio, winning another match.

Chiusura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 I Pescatori 7 5 1 1 6 1 +5 16
2 Contadini 7 5 0 2 8 4 +4 15
3 I Minatori 7 4 0 3 9 6 +3 12
4 San Michele 7 3 2 2 7 5 +2 11
5 Commercianti 7 3 0 4 7 8 −1 9
6 Marinai 7 2 2 3 5 4 +1 8
7 I Cittadini 7 2 2 3 5 7 −2 8
8 AC Venalzio 7 0 1 6 1 13 −12 1

Let's start at the bottom of the table with AC Venalzio. The closing stages of the Apertura were hard for the team, and the long, hard Winter Market break was tough work for those players. It has showed here in the first half of the Chiusura, with Venalzio far back of 7th place, and all but eliminated from the league title. I Cittadini haven't been as good as they would like early on, but are not as bad as AC Venalzio. Marinai, with the toughest work of all teams during the breaks, the boat workers who travel the seas to sell their goods, are always a little rusty in the first bit of the season, but usually turn it on in the last half. If they want a top 3 finish, though, they'll need to recover fast. Commercianti is in the middle, closer to the top than the bottom, but only 1 bad match away from 7th. San Michele have done well for themselves so far, only 5 points out of the Chiusura title. At the top, it's I Minatori, Contadini and I Pescatori the main challengers for the Apertura title, seperated by 4 points.

Lega Venalzio: Chiusura 2/2; Suppercoppa 1/1

We catch back up with the Lega after a one-week break in mid-March, and the teams settled into the football they want to play to take the Championship. Marinai know they will play for the Suppercoppa, and the other teams are looking to join them for an all-important Champion's Cup birth. Here we are, with the final half of the Chiusura and the Suppercoppa results!

Matchday 8
San Michele 1–0 AC Venalzio
Marinai 0–1 Commercianti
I Pescatori 0–1 Contadini
I Minatori 0–2 I Cittadini

-San Michele takes another victory to start the second half, while AC Venalzio fall once again. Commercianti defeated Marinai 1-0, while Contadini tried to take the top of the table away from I Pescatori, and won that battle 1-0. I Cittadini defeated I Minatori 2-0 in another battle involving teams near the top of the table.

Matchday 9
I Minatori 1–0 San Michele
I Cittadini 0–0 I Pescatori
Contadini 0–1 Marinai
Commercianti 2–0 AC Venalzio

-I Minatori were able to get by San Michele 1-0, while I Cittadini and I Pescatori found themselves coming away with nothing gained after a 0-0 draw. Contadini couldn't take advantage of I Pescatori's draw to go up 2 matches on them, but failed to do so, instead falling 1-0 to Marinai. In a now expected result, AC Venalzio lost again, 2-0 to Commercianti.

Matchday 10
San Michele 2–1 Commercianti
AC Venalzio 0–0 Contadini
Marinai 1–0 I Cittadini
I Pescatori 0–1 I Minatori

-San Michele takes another victory, a good showing for the club with a 2-1 victory over Commercianti. AC Venalzio didn't lose, for once, instead holding Contadini to a draw. Marinai are on a roll, with a 1-0 win over I Cittadini, while I Pescatori couldn't take back the league table with a 1-0 loss to rivals I Minatori.

Matchday 11
I Pescatori 0–2 San Michele
I Minatori 1–1 Marinai
I Cittadini 1–2 AC Venalzio
Contadini 0–0 Commercianti

-San Michele got an important win over I Pescatori 2-0, while in the match between seafaring teams, it was only a draw, with I Minatori halting Marinai's run 1-1. Finally. AC Venalzio fans have something to cheer for, as the team won their first match of the season. It is I Cittadini the laughing stock of the week for now, until AC loses again, probably next week. Contadini and Commercianti rounded the week out with a 0-0 draw.

Matchday 12
San Michele 1–0 Contadini
Commercianti 0–0 I Cittadini
AC Venalzio 0–5 I Minatori
Marinai 0–1 I Pescatori

-San Michele won again over Contadini 1-0. Commercianti and I Cittadini found themselves in a 0-0 draw, while any AC Venalzio fans happy with last week's result remembered pain once again, x5, as I Minatori ravaged their side 5-0. Marinai fell 1-0 to Pescatori, and probably took away their Triple chances (Apertura, Chiusura, Suppercoppa), even though it was quite unlikely in the first place.

Matchday 13
Marinai 0–1 San Michele
I Pescatori 0–0 AC Venalzio
I Minatori 2–1 Commercianti
I Cittadini 1–0 Contadini

-San Michele gets another win, putting themselves on the top of the league table with one week to go with a win over Marinai. I Pescatori won't like their draw with AC Venalzio, while I Minatori kept the championship hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Commercianti. In Il Feudo, although their team won't win the title, I Cittadini fans found something to cheer for, winning over rivals Contadini 1-0.

Matchday 14
San Michele 1–1 I Cittadini
Contadini 3–1 I Minatori
Commercianti 1–0 I Pescatori
AC Venalzio 0–1 Marinai

-Before the matchday, only two teams had decent shots at the title. San Michele and I Minatori. With a better goal differential, I Minatori needed a win or draw, while a win for San Michele would give them the title. Friday evening, San Michele took on I Cittadini. Cittadini went up 1-0 in the 32nd minute, but San Michele salvaged the draw, taking a goal from Angelo Lori to get the point. That forced I Minatori to win their match. The Chiusura-deciding match came Saturday afternoon, and I Minatori let it slip away against Contadini, falling by a 3-1 score. That meant San Michele clinched the Chiusura title. Still, 2 more matches needed to be played, and Commercianti beat I Pescatori 1-0, while a familiar result closed out the season, with Marinai defeating AC Venalzio 1-0.

Chiusura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 San Michele 14 8 3 3 15 8 +7 27 Suppercoppa Venalzio
2 I Minatori 14 8 1 5 20 13 +7 25
3 Contadini 14 7 2 5 12 8 +4 23
4 I Pescatori 14 6 3 5 7 6 +1 21
5 Commercianti 14 6 2 6 13 12 +1 20
6 Marinai 14 5 3 6 9 8 +1 18
7 I Cittadini 14 4 5 5 10 11 −1 17
8 AC Venalzio 14 1 3 10 3 23 −20 6

AC Venalzio didn't move much, with a -20 goal differential keeping them in 8th place. I Cittadini stayed in seventh, ten points back of the title, but 11 points ahead of last. Marinai were in a similar position, sixth, while Commercianti and I Pescatori were the bridge between top and bottom in this league. Contadini fell out of contention after a draw to AC Venalzio, which upset the team greatly, and I Minatori won't be happy with their last-day loss to take them out of the title spot. San Michele have everything to cheer for now, however, with 8 wins out of 14 to take them to the top, and playing top form football just before the Suppercoppa Venalzio.

Suppercoppa Venalzio
The one-game final for the ultimate championship, the Lega Venalzio title, and a Champion's League birth. It will be played at Stadio Nazionale, and features Marinai and San Michele. Here is the result.

Marinai 0–2 San Michele

San Michele started the game on fire, coming a week off their title championship. It was only the 17th minute when they first scored, Michael Neri with a beautifully placed strike behind the keeper. Marinai's defensive style worked well in the first half, but by the second, San Michele were too much to handle for them, with Neri scoring once again on a penalty attempt in the 72nd minute. Keeper Sergio Conti, maybe the best in the league, held down the fort the whole way, and San Michele took the Lega Venalzio title.

Venalzio (VEN) Qualifiers:
Champion's Cup: San Michele (Youth: San Michele U18's)
Globe Cup: Marinai, I Pescatori, I Minatori

30 Whitecaps Scajaquada 58 8 12 38 37 106 −69 36 Relegated to Series-2

What a season for some teams. For FC Baie-Eternite and Whitecaps Scajaquada, it's the inevitable, with both teams relegated to the Series-2. Moving up to the international spots, the top 5 teams reach those spots. In 5th, Real Ile Perrot reach the Globe Cup, certainly not the result they wanted going into the season, but a result they will take. Ahead of them, FC Pierre Beach had a great season, also reaching the Globe Cup. Lac-Drouin City also finished in the Globe Cup positions, again, not exactly what they hoped for at the start of the year. Moving up to the 2 Champion's League spots, Huskies Baie-Nord have something to be very happy for, a second place finish. They had a great season, far beyond what anyone expected of them, even if the new owner made splashes internationally, signing the Polarian defender Miroslav Yashin and expanding the club's training facilities. Yashin had a big impact for the team, and so did the foundation in place before him, as Huskies will play Champion's Cup football. Still 1 spot ahead of them is Lac-Drouin St-Pierre, once again the league champs. Before the season many questions were asked about this team, such as ''With Alain Rivcoucher's departure hurt the team?'', ''Can Pilotak Hegan-Iragana fill Rivoucher's shoes?", ''What will Bruno Camilletti do for the team this year?", and the biggest of all, ''Will Angel Capobianco and Emmanuel Velasquez click?''. All these answers turned out to be, no, yes, many things, and yes. Pilotak Hegan-Iragana stepped right in and took over from Rivcoucher, leading the team to only 48 goals against in 58 games all season. Bruno Camilletti had a great season, scoring 13 of LDSP's 93 goals, including a double in the squad's final day 2-0 win over FC St-Simeon to clinch the league title. And the final question, Velasquez and Capobianco worked well for LDSP, as the Ossidiaquan contingent to LDSP contributed 27 goals and many assists, with Capobianco once again winning the Gold Boot. Right behind him, with 22 goals, was FC Pierre Beach's Trevor Duncan. Huskies manager Martin Lalond was Manager of the Year, with Marc Denis second. In goal, Pilotak Hegan-Iragana was the Gold Glove winner, while FC Pierre Beach keeper Fabrice Cappelletti, whose team only allowed 42 goals all year, the lowest in the league.

AmpiSport Premier League: Season 12 2/2

The long-awaited Series-3 and Series-4 results are here! Some clubs will move up, some will move down, and Season 12 will finally end. Season 13 fast approaches as well, with the transfer window closing in a few weeks. Alex Gannot is still holding out on his decision of club for the new year, while national team mate Pier-Luc Dion will be heading to hometown team FC Cote for the next season. These results will determine the seeding for the SFA Cup next season, and also who will get to vie for a coveted spot in the ASPL, changing its name to Sicoutimont Premier League next year.
Here are the results!

Series-3 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Real San Cristobal 16 9 3 4 26 16 +10 30
2 Mermouth FC 16 7 7 2 25 18 +7 28

3 St-Bruno-des-Monts FC 16 7 4 5 17 14 +3 25
4 Beaudette City 16 7 3 6 12 17 −5 24
5 La Espanola FC 16 5 5 6 18 18 0 20
6 FC Dupont-sur-Lac 16 5 5 6 19 22 −3 20
7 CF Lac-Geneve 1922 16 4 5 7 18 21 −3 17
8 St-Leonard Town 16 3 6 7 12 15 −3 15
9 Davidstown FC 16 3 6 7 12 18 −6 15

So, for next season, clubs Real San Cristobal and Mermouth FC will compete in Series-2, while Davidstown FC is moved down to Series-4 for the next season. Joining the remaining Series-3 clubs will be relegated FC Cap-Loriot and Presqu'ile AFC, and the champion of the Series-4 division.

Series-4 Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Bridgetown FC 16 8 5 3 20 14 +6 29
2 United Mont-Sonora 16 8 4 4 18 10 +8 28
3 Riviere-du-Loup United 16 8 2 6 20 12 +8 26
4 Lac-Venrieux FC 16 5 6 5 11 13 −2 21
5 FC Belleveux 16 6 2 8 16 17 −1 20
6 United St. Alberts Kylx Wonders 16 5 5 6 12 16 −4 20
7 Sault-Drouin FC 16 4 6 6 14 18 −4 18
8 Rigby Town 16 4 5 7 11 17 −6 17
9 CF St-Lazare 16 3 7 6 11 16 −5 16

That champion turned out to be Bridgetown FC after a hard-fought 16 game campaign. They earn promotion to Series-3 for the next season. At the other end of the table, CF St-Lazare hold the 'honour' of being technically the worst club in Sicoutimont.

That's it for season 12, join us soon for the Season 13 Preview!

Sicoutimont Premier League: Season 13 Preview

The Sicoutimont Premier League has returned, with its 13th season! In this season preview, out of the 30 teams, we will give insight on who The Lac-Drouin Times feels will be fighting for relegation, battling it out in the mid-table positions and who will challenge for UICA places and the title. With the transfer window finished, we'll also look at which club got the best deal out of the transfer season.

25-30: Relegation Fight
Clubs: FC Pontiac, St-Simeon City, Richelieu FC, Nationale Orleans, FC Tallonts, Nordique Val-Maurice
Who Will Go Down: FC Pontiac, Nordique Val-Maurice

After winning the title some years ago, it hasn't been a good time for Nordique Val-Maurice. Losing key players to the injury bug plus top manager Louis Vaudreil to Astograth's Gesterlake hurt this team, and we feel this is the year they won't recover from. On the other hand, we don't think FC Pontiac has the players to achieve a long stay in the league, although they could surprise and stay for an extra year. Tallonts has good enough goaltending to remain at the top, while Nationale Orleans is expected to potentially move out of this group of clubs during the year. Although many pundits think St-Simeon City will go down, we don't think so, especially since acquiring Steven Smith from SC Castle 1724 during that club's period of unloading wage bills to sign Alex Gannot. Smith will be a big help on defence, and could help them move into a comfortable SPL spot for years.

15-24: Lower Mid Table
Clubs: FC Edmundston, Real Val Maurice, FC St-Simeon, Brighton United, Lions Clermont, Seasid FC, Lac-Nord Etoiles, Knights FC, Beavers Lac-Seneca
Who Will Have Success, and Who Will Flop? SUCCESS: Brighton United, Knights FC, Lions Clermont FLOP: Beavers Lac-Seneca, Seasid FC

Let's start with the flops. In those 9 positions, the teams we think will do worst will be the Beavers and Seasid. After Lac-Drouin St-Pierre failed to acquire Alex Gannot, they instead purchased striker Daniel Rioux ($3.6m) to be a temporary fix for the season, handing Louis Lafayette back to Lac-Drouin Capitales. While it's all great for St-Pierre and Capitales fans, not so much for fans of Les Bleus, as Seasid's homegrown star left for the defending champion. With a hole in the striker position, we don't think Seasid will finish any higher than 20th, but don't see them fighting to stay in the league. Beavers Lac-Seneca can't seem to recapture their offence since losing Thierry Lampone, and we think that this year they will falter. In the middle of these positions will be FC Edmundston, Real Val Maurice, Lac-Nord Etoiles and FC St-Simeon, who we can't place at the top of the mid-table positions, but likewise not at the bottom. Brighton United, with new manager Frederic Deschamps, finally have the pieces in place to recapture their former glory. Knights FC, the third St-Simeon club, will have the talent to beat St-Simeon City, but might finish close to other rival FC St-Simeon, who we see also in these positions. Lac-Nord Etoiles, on the other hand, will stay near the top of the mid-table, but we don't see them escaping there.

6-14: Upper Mid Table
Clubs: FC Ile Perrot, Earthquake Champlain, Olympique Beaudette, Allouette Jonquiere, FC Cote, Emperor Hill Rangers, SC Castle 1724, City Riviere St-Denis, FC Pierre Beach,
Who Could Challenge For UICA Places? FC Pierre Beach, SC Castle 1724,

There are several reasons we think that those three clubs have a strong chance at moving into UICA places with a bit of luck. SC Castle 1724 were very excited to have acquired the services of Alex Gannot for the season (or until Mytannion's league returns), and his strong presence alone could lead them to the top 4. For FC Pierre Beach, a strong tandem of goalkeeping and offence could bring them back to the Globe Cup as well. FC Cote could make a move if Pier-Luc Dion stars in goal, while if acquired striker Georges Dumont ($3.7m) forms a good tandem with Darren Parrett for Allouette Jonquiere, it will be them who could get into the top 4. FC Ile Perrot will come in closer to the bottom of these positions, as they do not have the star power to propel the team.

Title Challengers
Lac-Drouin St-Pierre
Last Year: 1
Key Player: Angel Capobianco (OSS)
-As always, LDSP will be big challengers for the title, and it will be hard to knock them off their perch as defending champs. Pilotak Hegan-Iragana had a great year last season, and looks to continue that success, while Angel Capobianco and Bruno Cammilieti up top will be joined by new acquisition Daniel Rioux, who looks to have a solid season. Midfield and defence are strong as always, and we can't see this team finishing lower than second.

Huskies Baie-Nord
Last Year: 2
Key Player: Miroslav Yashin (PIS)
-Huskies' new ownership are very happy with the direction they are taking this team, especially after the second-placed season last year. Miroslav Yashin was a revelation for the side defensively, while upfront, some problems were taken care of in the offseason. Eric Desjardins (CB) was sold ($4.1m) to Lac-Drouin Capitales, and The Greys brought in Adam Lorient from St-Simeon City ($5.1m) upfront. It's believed that Lorient alongside Yves Jourdain will bring Baie-Nord to the top, and we can easily see them as the team that could beat LDSP.

Lac-Drouin City
Last Year: 3
Key Player: Calixio Prudentzio (AUD)
-Lac-Drouin City had a great transfer window, with the biggest purchase being acquiring centre midfielder Prudentzio ($15m) from AC Iztotz Zubia in his home country, one of many Audioslavians coming to Sicoutimont and finding success. He hopes that his first season with City will be a successful one, and with the team stronger than ever, they feel this is the year they will once again knock off their cross-city rivals in St-Pierre and take their second title.

Real Ile Perrot
Last Year: 4
Key Player: Matija Trgocevic (MYT)
-Last year, one of the bigger problems for Real was at the centre back position. The hole left by Robert Georges mid-season transfer to Lac-Drouin Capitales just could not be filled for the rest of the year, as the team slumped to a fifth place finish, 11 back of the top spot. So acquiring Antonio Jukic from Mytannion's Preussen Kitzbuhel on a free, no less, was a perfect move for the side. He joins the defence corps led by Sam White of the Licentian Isles, who was by far the best defender on the side last season. Pedro Jaramillio and Valladar countryman Miguel Rodriguez lead the team at mid and in goal, while Trgocevic-Mixe-Ivanov's top line give Real the firepower necessary to go after the top spot.

Lac-Drouin Capitales
Last Year: 12
Key Player: Neal Kent
-Keeping top striker Lafayette was a great move for the club, who lucked out on LDSP's Rioux transfer. After bringing in Robert Georges ($2.1m) at CB and Alain Richard joining the side at midfield in the offseason, the club looked certain to make a run at the UICA positions, but probably not the title. Then, the Sicoutians playing for Mytanar clubs became available to return home for at least a year-long loan. Alex Gannot went to SC Castle 1724, his hometown club, Pier-Luc Dion to FC Cote, his hometown club, which had to inspire Neal Kent, who hails from the Riverside neighbourhood of Lac-Drouin, as do Les Capitales. Kent did end up joining the violet et or, the purple and gold. That instantly brings Lac-Drouin's title chances to the best ever. It also means that out of 5 clubs identified as title contenders, 4 hail from Lac-Drouin or the Capitale-Nationale region. Huskies Baie-Nord are the lone exception, but even they are in the area, with Baie-Nord situated on the shores of the Lac-Drouin our nation's capital takes its name from.

Another exciting season of football in Sicoutimont is set to begin, so stay with us as the top 30 clubs in the nation duke it out for the league title. We'll also bring you full coverage of the SFA Cup, which will soon begin with the Round of 64.

Going into the matchday, St-Pierre and Real Ile Perrot were even on points (113), with Real having a +2 goal differential advantage (46-44) over LDSP. So, the title would come down to 2 away games; St-Pierre away to FC St-Simeon at Woodbridge Park, and Stade Desjardins of the Emperor Hill Rangers in southern Lac-Drouin the host to Real Ile Perrot. At Woodbridge Park, St-Pierre were hoping for a big win against the bottom-table side away, but they would not get it. Instead, they were happy to come away with a 1-0 win thanks to Jonah MacGrough's goal in the 38th minute. MacGrough, acquired in the off-season from McKleigh's Northpointe (18m plus centre back Frederick Desjardins), had a very strong rookie year for the club, winning Team Rookie of the Year award. That goal, his 9th of the season, proved to St-Pierre fans once again why he was a better choice than Louis Lafayette, who the team had been able to get for a much cheaper price. At this point, fans forgot the concerns earlier in the season about MacGrough's supposed arrogance, and would remember that beautiful goal for a long time. Now in the driver's seat, all Real Ile Perrot needed was a victory to take the title. But away at Emperor Hill, neither side could find the goal, and Real Ile Perrot left the field once again second. After the match, Ile Perrot manager Georges Dumont said ''I fully expect to be sacked after this result.'' It is unclear whether the board will follow through on this, and it is unclear who any potential front-runners for the Ile Perrot job would be, home-grown or foreign. Here are the SPL Awards for the season:

Golden Boot: 1. Angel Capobianco (LDSP, 28 goals) 2. Alex Gannot (SCC, 22 goals)
Golden Glove: 1. Pilotak Hegan-Iragana (LDSP) 2. Miguel Rodriguez (RIP)
Top Manager: Marc Denis (LDSP)
Top U-20 Player: Jonah MacGrough (LDSP)
Top Defender: Neal Kent (LDCA)

Lega Venalzio Season 2: Apertura 1/2

Here we go again. After an exciting year where San Michele came away with the Lega-V title, all 8 teams are back to contest the Apertura, Chiusura and Suppercoppa at the end of the year. Can San Michele's Sergio Conti hold his status as the top keeper in the league, and along with Ottilio and Bruno Piazzo keep San Michele at the top? Will Marinai strike again to reach the Suppercoppa final? Will it be UICA success I Pescatori who go far this time around? Or can some other team, like disappointing AC Venalzio and Commercianti, take the Suppercoppa this time around? The long road to the top begins with the first matches of the Apertura.

Matchday 1
AC Venalzio 0–1 San Michele
Commercianti 0–1 Marinai
Contadini 2–0 I Pescatori
I Cittadini 0–2 I Minatori

-The defending champs get a good start to the year with a 1-0 victory, while Commercianti fall to Marinai. National team player Aldo De Luca scored a double for I Minatori away as they defeated I Cittadini 2-0 as well.

Matchday 2
San Michele 0–1 I Minatori
I Pescatori 1–0 I Cittadini
Marinai 0–0 Contadini
AC Venalzio 2–2 Commercianti

-It was Aldo De Luca again scoring for I Minatori as they put away San Michele in the first match of the weekend. I Pescatori beat I Cittadini 1-0, while Marinai and Contadini played out a 0-0 draw. Elsewhere, AC Venalzio (Emilio Udinese) and Commercianti (Carlo Fontane) got doubles from two of their stars to deliver the 2-2 draw.

Matchday 3
Commercianti 0–1 San Michele
Contadini 1–2 AC Venalzio
I Cittadini 0–2 Marinai
I Minatori 1–0 I Pescatori

-Mario Luciano's goal gave San Michele the 1-0 victory they needed over Commercianti to put themselves back to the top half of the table after 3 matches. AC Venalzio continued a good run of form with a 2-1 win over Contadini with contributions from Udinese and ''Don Vito'' Brasi in the win. In the first Derby match of the year, it was the miners prevailing over the fishermen 1-0 with Aldo De Luca getting his fourth in a golden run for him after 3 matches.

Matchday 4
San Michele 0–0 I Pescatori
Marinai 0–1 I Minatori
AC Venalzio 1–4 I Cittadini
Commercianti 1–0 Contadini

-Although the first result was a boring 0-0 draw between San Michele and I Pescatori, while I Minatori continued their run of form, Nicola Esposito getting the goal that put I Minatori into a firm position at the top of the table. AC Venalzio supporters had flashbacks to the Chiusura of last season as their team were ravaged 4-1 by I Cittadini, and Commercianti found victory over Contadini.

Matchday 5
Contadini 2–3 San Michele
I Cittadini 1–0 Commercianti
I Minatori 2–0 AC Venalzio
I Pescatori 0–1 Marinai

-San Michele won again 3-2 over Contadini, with Michele Neri's double, including the opening and winning goal, giving them victory. I Cittadini found their way past Commercianti for a 1-0 victory, while I Minatori's run at the top of the table continued after a 2-0 beating of AC Venalzio. I Minatori's Aldo De Luca is really in form right now, and San Michele manager Luigi Pisani, appointed Venalzio manager for the upcoming World Cup and Baptism of Fire, will have to think he's certainly the number 1 choice striker.

Matchday 6
San Michele 0–1 Marinai
AC Venalzio 0–0 I Pescatori
Commercianti 3–3 I Minatori
Contadini 1–0 I Cittadini

-It's Marinai who found their way past San Michele in the Suppercoppa rematch, while AC Venalzio recovered from defeats over the past 2 weeks for a 0-0 draw with I Pescatori. I Minatori are still unbeaten, but the 5 win streak comes to an end with a 3-3 draw with Commercianti, Aldo De Luca getting the tying goal in the 86th minute. And finally, it was Il Feudo, between Contadini and I Cittadini. Contadini took the first match and the higher position of the table, leaving I Cittadini fans in despair following the result.

Matchday 7
I Cittadini 0–1 San Michele
I Minatori 1–0 Contadini
I Pescatori 1–0 Commercianti
Marinai 1–1 AC Venalzio

-Michele Neri's goal led San Michele to victory over I Cittadini , while I Minatori found victory again over Contadini with a 1-0 victory. I Minatori are on top of their game so far, only dropping 2 points in the first half of the Apertura. I Pescatori found their way past Commercianti, while Marinai and AC Venalzio each scored one for a 1-1 draw.

Apertura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 I Minatori 7 6 1 0 11 3 +8 19
2 Marinai 7 4 2 1 6 2 +4 14
3 San Michele 7 4 1 2 6 4 +2 13
4 I Pescatori 7 2 2 3 2 4 −2 8
5 Contadini 7 2 1 4 6 7 −1 7
6 I Cittadini 7 2 0 5 5 8 −3 6
7 AC Venalzio 7 1 3 3 6 11 −5 6
8 Commercianti 7 1 2 4 6 9 −3 5

Strengths and weaknesses abound after 7 matchdays. Commercianti find themselves at the bottom of the table with neither of these showing badly, but will need to find their footing in the second half of the season. AC Venalzio have conceded 11 and are lucky to be only 7th, all but eliminated from Apertura contention. I Cittadini and Contadini find themselves with little hope for a title in the first half, but after I Minatori's run so far, who does? Marinai could conceivably catch up, but would need to make up 5 points. So could San Michele, who are 2 matches back as well. I Minatori only need to stop dropping points and keep winning to make sure they keep up their path towards a Suppercoppa birth.

Lega Venalzio Season 2: Apertura 2/2

Lega-V's Apertura continues to thrill fans across the multiverse as the Apertura rolls on in mid-October. I Minatori look unbeatable through 7, while Marinai and San Michele hold on to the feint hope they can catch up. At the bottom of the table AC Venalzio and Commercianti look to rebound and salvage something to work on for the Chiusura part of the season. Here we go with the second half of the Apertura.

Matchday 8
San Michele 3–1 AC Venalzio
Marinai 1–0 Commercianti
I Pescatori 1–1 Contadini
I Minatori 1–1 I Cittadini

-The race to catch up begins. San Michele gains ground after Michele Neri's double to beat AC Venalzio, while Marinai took down Commercianti for the victory. I Pescatori and Contadini could only find a draw, and even though Aldo De Luca scored again, I Minatori only drew with I Cittadini, putting them just 3 points ahead of Marinai in the league.

Matchday 9
I Minatori 2–3 San Michele
I Cittadini 1–0 I Pescatori
Contadini 0–1 Marinai
Commercianti 3–0 AC Venalzio

-I Minatori are finally beaten in a high-scoring game at their home ground, the Colosseo Rucchesi, falling 2-3 to San Michele. Aldo De Luca didn't find the net which hurt his team, while Neri and Mario Luciano's double saved the game from San Michele. I Cittadini defeated I Pescatori, I Marinai found another victory to tie themselves at the top of the table, and Commercianti defeated AC Venalzio soundly to move to 6th place in the table.

Matchday 10
San Michele 0–1 Commercianti
AC Venalzio 2–1 Contadini
Marinai 0–1 I Cittadini
I Pescatori 0–3 I Minatori

-Commercianti are really pulling themselves back up here, moving to fifth after Carlo Fontane's beautiful strike. AC Venalzio also found victory against Contadini, while Marinai's hunt for the title was also set back as they fell 1-0 to I Cittadini. I Pescatori were soundly beaten by I Minatori, it came from a tired side after I Pescatori's 4-2 aggregate win over Ponyville United in the UICA Globe Cup. The win was necessary for I Minatori to keep their hold on the table alive.

Matchday 11
I Pescatori 0–1 San Michele
I Minatori 1–1 Marinai
I Cittadini 4–0 AC Venalzio
Contadini 1–0 Commercianti

-San Michele defeated I Pescatori in a tight 1-0 win, while in a battle near the top of the table I Minatori preserved the draw to remain at the top. I Cittadini thrashed AC Venalzio, a result that is now expected from this AC Venalzio side. You have to think manager Domenic Lugano will be sacked after only 11 matches in charge of the club, and AC Venalzio will need to find someone to inspire their side. Commercianti's table charge was halted for one week after a 1-0 loss to Contadini.

Matchday 12
San Michele 0–0 Contadini
Commercianti 0–0 I Cittadini
AC Venalzio 1–1 I Minatori
Marinai 0–0 I Pescatori

-Nothing changed this week, as every single match resulted in a draw. In fact, there were only 2 goals in total this week, both in the AC Venalzio-I Minatori matchup, with Aldo De Luca's goal being equalized by Emilio Udinese in the 76th minute to give Domenic Lugano another week at least on the job.

Matchday 13
Marinai 0–2 San Michele
I Pescatori 3–3 AC Venalzio
I Minatori 0–3 Commercianti
I Cittadini 1–2 Contadini

-San Michele's win over Marinai put Marinai out of the title chances in the Apertura, while it was a draw between I Pescatori and AC Venalzio as the highest-scoring match in the league so far, with 6 goals in total. Commercianti struck 3 times against I Minatori to give them a win, putting I Minatori into second for the first time in the Apertura season. It would be horribly disappointing to lose it now, but a point back of San Michele it is entirely possible. In Il Feudo, Contadini finished I Cittadini again, taking both Apertura meetings between the team. It's a terrible feeling for I Cittadini fans, and one group of fans, either San Michele or I Minatori, will have that feeling after the next week.

Matchday 14
San Michele 0–1 I Cittadini
Contadini 1–0 I Minatori
Commercianti 0–3 I Pescatori
AC Venalzio 1–2 Marinai

-What a week of football. The title was decided in the first two matches. In last year's Apertura, San Michele led into the final match, and after a disappointing result, the title was in question, but I Minatori, the only other team who could catch them, lost and finished second. This time, San Michele fell to I Cittadini 1-0 at home. It was a terrible day for San Michele fans, and you could sense the gutted feeling on the Via San Michele outside the stadium afterwards. They knew that the ball was now in I Minatori's court that night to win the title. San Michele's players and fans returned to the stadium that night to watch the match-up between Contadini and I Minatori. Last Chiusura, Contadini defeated I Minatori 3-1 to deny them the title. I Minatori fans could only pray that that would not happen again. But it did. I Minatori could not solve Contadini's 4-6-0 formation, and finally the trequartista Louis Tattaglia netted the ball to give their team the 1-0 lead in the 78th minute. It was 12 heart-pounding minutes for fans everywhere, and when it was over, it would be weeks more pain for I Minatori fans, who blow the title once again. San Michele stood on the podium again as Apertura winners this time, now having won all three major Lega-V tournaments. Is a double possible? Quite certainly. The team features Sergio Conti, the best keeper in the nation, plus the Piazzo brothers, arguably the best defensive pair in the country. The striker partnership between Neri-Luciano-Beneveti up front was magical last season, and many of these players will make up the national team at the end of the year.

Apertura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 San Michele 14 8 2 4 15 9 +6 26 Suppercoppa Venalzio
2 I Minatori 14 7 4 3 19 13 +6 25
3 Marinai 14 7 4 3 11 7 +4 25
4 I Cittadini 14 6 2 6 14 11 +3 20
5 Contadini 14 5 3 6 12 12 0 18
6 Commercianti 14 4 3 7 13 14 −1 15
7 I Pescatori 14 3 5 6 9 13 −4 14
8 AC Venalzio 14 2 5 7 14 28 −14 11

I Minatori have some deep soul-searching to do after blowing another title on the final day of the season. Marinai will take their 1-point back opening season as a success, and hope to build on it in the next round. I Cittadini, losing twice to hated rival Contadini can't be too happy about the two losses, but will love having a higher-table finish then their rival. Contadini, on the other hand, love their Il Feudo victories, and hate finishing behind their rivals. Commercianti need to be better in the second season, while I Pescatori can blame their failures in the first half on the struggles of travelling the world every week in the middle between league matches. With just 3 matches in the Group Stage left for them at the UICA, they will certainly challenge in the next half. Domenic Lugano has been sacked and AC Venalzio now need to figure out where to go with this team. We will be back to pick up our league after the Winter Markets.

Lega Venalzio Season 2: Chiusura 1/2

With San Michele coming into the closing season Apertura champions, and defending Chiusura and Suppercoppa champions, will the strong side complete the double in the Lega-V? Can I Minatori recover from 2 straight seasons of heartbreak to win the title? AC Venalzio's new manager Maurizio Giapini has implemented a new system at the Stadio Calcio, and hopes that AC Venalzio will make it to the top. Commercianti also look to recover from their poor form in the first half to have a great Chiusura season. I Pescatori are finished with the UICA Globe Cup now, losing out in the Group Stage in a great showing, and are poised to have a great Chiusura. The season kicks off once again with the first half of the Chiusura.

Matchday 1
AC Venalzio 0–1 San Michele
Commercianti 0–1 Marinai
Contadini 0–1 I Pescatori
I Cittadini 2–3 I Minatori

-Sergio Conti's great keeping, especially later in the match when AC Venalzio dominated, gave San Michele the chance to win, and Michele Neri scored the goal that won it for them. Marinai defeated Commercianti, while I Pescatori got by Contadini with a 88th minute goal from Marco Dandolo. In the final match of the week, it was a great one, as I Cittadini held 1-0, 2-0 and 2-1 leads before losing out to I Minatori, Aldo De Luca's goal giving them the win.

Matchday 2
San Michele 2–2 I Minatori
I Pescatori 0–0 I Cittadini
Marinai 0–1 Contadini
AC Venalzio 0–2 Commercianti

-I Minatori find themselves with a hold on the top of the table, after their 2-2 draw with San Michele. It looked as if it would be a low-scoring weekend after I Pescatori's nil-nil draw with I Cittadini, but instead, Contadini and Commercianti excited and won their matches by 1 and 2 goals, respectively.

Matchday 3
Commercianti 0–1 San Michele
Contadini 2–1 AC Venalzio
I Cittadini 2–0 Marinai
I Minatori 1–3 I Pescatori

-San Michele find victory again, 1-0 over Commercianti, with a Mario Lucarno goal in the 37th minute, and Sergio Conti getting another clean sheet. Contadini beat AC Venalzio, who once again have to be considering sacking the manager after an 0-0-3 start. I Cittadini defeated Marinai soundly 2-0, while even though Aldo De Luca gave I Minatori a lead, I Pescatori found the goal three times to give themselves the win, and propel themselves to first after just 3 weeks.

Matchday 4
San Michele 0–1 I Pescatori
Marinai 1–0 I Minatori
AC Venalzio 2–0 I Cittadini
Commercianti 0–1 Contadini

-I Pescatori finally find a way to solve Sergio Conti, who had not concededed all Chiusura (did not play week 2's 2-2 draw against I Minatori), and that gave them victory. Marinai were able to get by I Minatori, while AC Venalzio found victory over I Cittadini with 2 goals coming from Emilio Udinese. Commercianti's fall begins once again, as Contadini defeated them 1-0.

Matchday 5
Contadini 0–1 San Michele
I Cittadini 2–0 Commercianti
I Minatori 2–3 AC Venalzio
I Pescatori 1–0 Marinai

-Sergio Conti gets another clean sheet, as San Michele take a 1-0 victory over Contadini. Commercianti are now officially on a losing streak, not getting points since matchday 2. In that game it was I Cittadini who scored and won that match. Maurizio Giapini's new tactics are starting to work for AC Venalzio, as they have now won 2 matches in a row with the 3-2 defeat of I Minatori. It's starting to look bad for I Minatori, as they dropped off points again. I Pescatori, in the final match of the week, got a goal from Marco Dandolo, a real candidate for the national team now, to beat Marinai.

Matchday 6
San Michele 1–0 Marinai
AC Venalzio 0–0 I Pescatori
Commercianti 1–0 I Minatori
Contadini 3–0 I Cittadini

-Even though Sergio Conti did not play, San Michele still managed a clean sheet over Marinai and won the game 1-0. AC Venalzio managed a draw with the league leaders nil-nil, while the miners fell to Commercianti 1-0. In the first Il Feudo of the season, Contadini defeated I Cittadini once again, this time 3-0, meaning they will take the majority of season 2's Il Feudo match-ups. The away fans have to be hating this result.

Matchday 7
I Cittadini 1–1 San Michele
I Minatori 0–0 Contadini
I Pescatori 0–0 Commercianti
Marinai 0–1 AC Venalzio

-Sergio Conti returned to the goal today, but I Cittadini salvaged a goal to keep the draw at their home ground. It turned out to be a week of draws, with I Minatori and Contadini scoring none, and I Pescatori and Commercianti also not finding the mesh. The final match of the week saw AC Venalzio's run of form continue with a 1-0 win over Marinai, getting a goal from Emilio Udinese.

Chiusura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 I Pescatori 7 4 3 0 6 1 +5 15
2 San Michele 7 4 2 1 7 4 +3 14
3 Contadini 7 4 1 2 7 3 +4 13
4 AC Venalzio 7 3 1 3 7 7 0 10
5 I Cittadini 7 2 2 3 7 9 −2 8
6 Commercianti 7 2 1 4 3 5 −2 7
7 Marinai 7 2 0 5 2 6 −4 6
8 I Minatori 7 1 2 4 8 12 −4 5

At the end of the first half of the Chiusura, we see a league where almost every team is still a potential title contender. I Minatori and Marinai might be the only exception to that, both 10 and 9 points back, but may be able to salvage a result in the final 7 matches. Commercianti stand at sixth with 4 losses and only 1 draw, and could make a charge, but a title is unlikely. I Cittadini find themselves on the threshold, not close enough to the top to make a serious challenge, but not too far from the bottom if they have a bad second half either. AC Venalzio have really improved later on in the first half, if they continue that at least a Globe Cup spot could be in reach. Contadini find themselves just two points off and could make a serious charge for the title. San Michele are just a point back of I Pescatori, who have conceded just once in the entire Chiusura so far. Could that put Domenic Buccardi in for a roster spot on the national team over Marinai keeper Giovanni Detori? Find out that, and more, in the second half of the season.

Lega Venalzio Season 2: Chiusura 2/2 Suppercoppa 1/1

Here they are, the final 7 matches that will determine a Chiusura champion and a Suppercoppa match-up. I Pescatori look to hold onto their lead, while San Michele hope to catch them to win their second Chiusura and their fourth straight Lega-V tournament. AC Venalzio are finally competitive it seems, and have a good chance to make a run for the title in this last half of the season. Commercianti need to take a lesson from them, possibly sacking the manager if they do not start winning here. Along with them at the bottom, I Minatori and Marinai are looking for a way out, while in the middle I Cittadini look to move up not down. Contadini are third and poised well for a title challenge.

Matchday 8
San Michele 1–0 AC Venalzio
Marinai 1–3 Commercianti
I Pescatori 2–1 Contadini
I Minatori 2–1 I Cittadini

-Sergio Conti's clean sheet and Michele Neri's goal, an oft-heard story from national team manager Luigi Pisani's San Michele side, but it gives them results, this time a 1-0 win over AC Venalzio. Commercianti beat Marinai 3-1 in an effort to move up, and with the ball in their court I Pescatori delivered, finding a win over third-place Contadini. Finally, I Minatori found victory in a win over I Cittadini.

Matchday 9
I Minatori 1–2 San Michele
I Cittadini 0–1 I Pescatori
Contadini 0–1 Marinai
Commercianti 0–0 AC Venalzio

-I Minatori kept a 1-0 lead until the 75th minute, when San Michele scored twice to take the win. I Pescatori got a goal from Marco Dandolo to move up 1-0 on I Cittadini to keep their hold on the top of the table. Marinai have defeated Contadini 1-0 in an effort to move up from the bottom table, while Commercianti and AC Venalzio only found a point each in the 0-0 draw.

Matchday 10
San Michele 2–1 Commercianti
AC Venalzio 0–1 Contadini
Marinai 1–0 I Cittadini
I Pescatori 1–0 I Minatori

-San Michele once again conceded early, but fought back to win the game off Michele Neri's double over Commercinati. Contadini gave themselves a shot at the title with the 1-0 win over AC Venalzio, while Marinai found a win over I Cittadini on the tenth week of matches. I Pescatori, on top of the league still, found a win over I Minatori to give them the lead for at least another week.

Matchday 11
I Pescatori 2–0 San Michele
I Minatori 1–2 Marinai
I Cittadini 0–2 AC Venalzio
Contadini 0–1 Commercianti

-In a match that could decide the title, I Pescatori defeated San Michele 2-0 with a goal from Marco Dandolo and Leo Curatzi. Marinai defeated I Minatori 2-1, while AC Venalzio re-started their previous run of form in the 2-0 win over I Cittadini. In the last match of the day it was Carlo Fontane's penalty that gave Commercianti a 1-0 victory over Contadini.

Matchday 12
San Michele 1–0 Contadini
Commercianti 1–0 I Cittadini
AC Venalzio 1–0 I Minatori
Marinai 0–0 I Pescatori

-A few 1-0 victories and a draw that has title implications this week. San Michele got another 1-0 victory, while Commercianti defeated I Cittadini 1-0 to move to fourth in the standings. AC Venalzio also beat I Minatori to move up to third in the table, while the draw that has massive implications was I Pescatori and Marinai drawing 1-1 and giving I Pescatori only a 2 point gap on San Michele with 2 matches to play.

Matchday 13
Marinai 0–1 San Michele
I Pescatori 1–2 AC Venalzio
I Minatori 0–1 Commercianti
I Cittadini 5–1 Contadini

-And the title will once again come down to the final matchday. San Michele defeated Marinai in a 1-0 match that showed off their balanced defensive and offence skills, something manager Luigi Pisani will be trying to rekindle at the Baptism of Fire and World Cup. And they got a lot of help from AC Venalzio who defeated I Pescatori 2-1. That puts San Michele on top of the table going into the final matchday. Commercianti defeated I Minatori 1-0, while I Cittadini finally managed a win in Il Feudo this season, defeating Contadini 5-1 at home.

Matchday 14
San Michele 1–2 I Cittadini
Contadini 0–0 I Minatori
Commercianti 0–0 I Pescatori
AC Venalzio 0–1 Marinai

-One would have to figure I Cittadini would be on a high after the 5-1 win over their hated rivals, and they brought that high to Stadio San Michele on the last matchday, beating Sergio Conti's side 2-1 on Friday night. Saturday afternoon, I Minatori and Contadini drew 0-0. That set up the final match to determine the title. Commercianti and I Pescatori met, I Pescatori only 1 point back of San Michele with a better goal differential. All they needed was a point. Both teams knew this, but both played hard for the win. Commercianti just missed a corner in the 33rd minute. while I Pescatori hit a crossbar in the 73rd. But by the end, both teams were playing their familiar defensive styles and preserved the draw, giving I Pescatori the Chiusura title.

Chiusura Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 I Pescatori 14 8 5 1 13 4 +9 29
2 San Michele 14 9 2 3 15 10 +5 29
3 Commercianti 14 6 3 5 10 8 +2 21
4 AC Venalzio 14 6 2 6 12 11 +1 20
5 Marinai 14 6 1 7 8 11 −3 19
6 Contadini 14 5 2 7 10 13 −3 17
7 I Cittadini 14 4 2 8 15 18 −3 14
8 I Minatori 14 2 3 9 12 20 −8 9

It's a title for I Pescatori! After a terrible first half amidst an excellent UICA showing, they will be back at the UICA next season, with a chance to go for the Champion's Cup in the Suppercoppa against San Michele. San Michele fans now know the heartbreak I Minatori fans have felt the past seasons, losing the title on the final day. They will still play the Suppercoppa against I Pescatori, with a Champion's Cup spot on the line Commercianti will reach the Globe Cup, as will I Minatori after their finishes in the Apertura and Chiusura.

Suppercoppa Venalzio
Here it is, Stadio Nazionale is the setting for the one-game ultimate final for the Lega Venalzio title and the Champion's Cup birth, and will be contested by San Michele and I Pescatori.

I Pescatori 1–2 San Michele

San Michele win their second-straight Suppercoppa Venalzio! They managed the first goal, in the 24th minute. It was Michele Neri who banked the ball off the post and into the goal to give San Michele the 1-0 lead. I Pescatori tied the match before the end of the half, however, with Philip Cuneo faking around San Michele's entire defensive line before chipping the ball over Sergio Conti to even up the match. When the whistle blew to open the second half, San Michele were dominating. Keeper Domenico Buccardi made many saves, but when he had to be, Sergio Conti was just a bit better. That showed in the 67th minute when Marco Dandolo was able to put in a header off a corner that Buccardi made a small mistake on to give San Michele the lead. I Pescatori had one last chance in the 88th minute, even calling up Buccardi to the offence on the cross, but Conti dove and made the save. Finally, the whistle blew, giving San Michele the title.

Venalzio (VEN) Qualifiers:
Champion's Cup: San Michele
Globe Cup: Commercianti, I Minatori, I Pescatori
Copa Rushmori de Campeones: San Michele

SHL Season 8

-The eighth season of Sicoutian hockey begins, with all the big talents re-taking the ice to fight it out for the Lafayette Cup. So, who are the title favourites? The Beaudette Jets always field a strong team, while the Baie-Eternite Bass, who signed their former first overall pick Jean-Luc Desjardins in the offseason and only strengthened their already-strong side. The Presqui'le Kings may fall back this year, while their hated rivals Edmundston Anglers could have a year to remember. In the end, the names inscribed on the Lafayette Cup, will have fought long and hard for this right. While the so-called ''Western'' and ''Eastern'' conferences don't really represent their geographic areas (Lac-Drouin and St-Simeon both in the West), they are more historical divisions, and the league is looking to re-align for geography in the next seasons.

Before we move on to the play-offs, we have 2 things to point out: Richelieu Admirals won the Emperor's Trophy for most points in the regular season, led by Rick Rover's successes. Also, one of the greatest SHL games ever was played on the first day: Mont-St-Jean Mountaineers 7–7 Orleans Thunder (7–8 OT). This game was a classic, but not for the goalies. Both starters were pulled within 15 minutes of the game. Orleans led 4-3 after the first period, 6-5 after the second, while Mont-St-Jean had a 7-7 lead with 5 minutes to play until Orleans scored to tie it. Orleans would strike again in overtime. Surprisingly, no player scored a hat-trick, while 3 players scored 2 goals (2 for Mont-St-Jean, 2 for Orleans.) Now, to the play-offs.

The Lac-Drouin Cup

Welcome to the first edition of the Lac-Drouin Cup! The SFA (Sicoutian Football Association) have decided to once again completely revamp the Sicoutian Football League system, which now features 128 professional teams spread throughout 7 tiers and 8 leagues. The top 18 clubs in the old Sicoutian Premier League have formed a new Sicoutian Premier Division, while the remaining teams have been moved to Ligue-2. Tiers 1-4 now form the ''Series Nationale'', mostly the old clubs, while more new clubs form the ''Series Professionale'', tiers 5-7. Realizing the spectacle available after the hosting of the Globe Cup Final at Stade St-Pierre, the SFA also created the Lac-Drouin Cup out of the 20 teams in the Lac-Drouin City Area, not including the Ile Perrot teams. Fearing the SPD clubs like St-Pierre, City, Capitales and Emperor Hill Rangers would crush the lower-level teams, those teams won't be added until the Quarterfinal stage. Each round before the final is 2 legs, home and away. If after 2 legs both teams are even on goals and away goals, a replay round will be played at Stade St-Pierre to determine a winner.

Round 1
Leg 1
CF Port-Jolie 1–0 CF Pontest
FC LaSalle 0–0 Club Terramidea
Red Star Lac-Drouin 0–0 Lancaster South End
Sault-Drouin FC 2–0 Riverside United
FC Dupont-sur-Lac 0–0 Springhill United
AS Palais-Diamant 0–1 Revolutionnaires
SC Riviere-Drouin 0–1 AFC Lancaster
Olympique Port-Jolie 1–1 AFC Girondins

Leg 2
CF Port-Jolie 0–0 CF Pontest
FC LaSalle 1–1 Club Terramidea
Red Star Lac-Drouin 0–1 Lancaster South End
Sault-Drouin FC 0–2 Riverside United
FC Dupont-sur-Lac 0–1 Springhill United
AS Palais-Diamant 0–2 Revolutionnaires
SC Riviere-Drouin 0–1 AFC Lancaster
Olympique Port-Jolie 0–1 AFC Girondins

Replays (@ Stade St-Pierre)
FC LaSalle 2–1 Club Terramidea
Sault-Drouin FC 1–0 Riverside United

Round 2
Leg 1
CF Port-Jolie 5–0 FC LaSalle
Springhill United 0–1 Lancaster South End
AFC Lancaster 2–1 Revolutionnaires
Sault-Drouin FC 2–4 AFC Girondins

Leg 2
CF Port-Jolie 2–2 FC LaSalle
Springhill United 2–2 Lancaster South End
AFC Lancaster 1–0 Revolutionnaires
Sault-Drouin FC 1–0 AFC Girondins

Quarterfinals
Leg 1
Lac-Drouin St-Pierre 0–0 AFC Girondins
Emperor Hill Rangers 0–1 AFC Lancaster
CF Port-Jolie 1–2 Lac-Drouin Capitales
Lac-Drouin City 3–0 Lancaster South End

Leg 2
Lac-Drouin St-Pierre 1–0 AFC Girondins
Emperor Hill Rangers 1–0 AFC Lancaster
CF Port-Jolie 0–1 Lac-Drouin Capitales
Lac-Drouin City 0–3 Lancaster South End

Replays (@ Stade St-Pierre)
Emperor Hill Rangers 1–2 AFC Lancaster
Lac-Drouin City 0–1 Lancaster South End

Surprise! It was abound in the Quarterfinals, as two SPD teams got knocked out of the inner-city cup. St-Pierre's reserve side beat AFC Girondins while Lac-Drouin Capitales fought out a 3-1 aggregate win over CF Port-Jolie. Emperor Hill Rangers played a replay round and fell to AFC Lancaster, while Lac-Drouin City saw a 3-0 lead evaporate against Lancaster South End, eventually losing 0-1 in the replay. Although the teams have never met before, they both come from the same Lancaster district of Lac-Drouin. LSE fans will certainly feel they've got one over City, while City fans will tell you it was just a reserve team playing anyways. Either way, a rivalry appears to be budding between these teams, and we can expect more excitement from them in the future.

Semi-Finals
Leg 1
Lac-Drouin St-Pierre 0–2 AFC Lancaster
Lac-Drouin Capitales 1–1 Lancaster South End

Leg 2
Lac-Drouin St-Pierre 0–1 AFC Lancaster
Lac-Drouin Capitales 1–2 Lancaster South End

Before the leg 1 tie, AFC Lancaster manager Jack Fontaine called out his opponent St-Pierre, saying that they ''were not taking this competition seriously by playing youth players,'' and that he thought ''it doesn't seem that they (St-Pierre) are motivated for this match, but our boys are ready to go.'' It caused a stir in the media, and Marc Denis, in his final season as St-Pierre manager simply replied ''We would like to rest our major players for the upcoming league matches. I can assure Mr. Fontaine that our boys will be ready for this match.'' In the end, it would seem that Fontaine's comments, whether they were mind games or not, worked out. AFC Lancaster beat St-Pierre 2-0 away, and 1-0 at home to advance to the final. Lac-Drouin Capitales were also defeated, by Lancaster South End in a close 3-2 agg. tie. So, it sets up a Lancaster Derby in the first-ever Lac-Drouin Cup Final.

Final
AFC Lancaster 2–2 Lancaster South End (2–3 AET)

A quick goal from AFC Lancaster saw the side go up 1-0 in just the 14th minute. 1-0 through the first half, South End converted a penalty in the 59th minute. AFC Lancaster would score again in the 78th minute, and it seemed as if the game was all but over. But a corner later in the 86th minute, and it was deadlocked. The game headed to extra time, and it was in the 106th minute that South End would find their way through again, scoring. They would tighten up and not concede in the final 14 minutes, and Lancaster South End became the inaugural Lac-Drouin Cup winners!
