Same reason the Ragon, even though all their troops use HUD's, there weapons still have back up iron sights.

So..I plan to make IFV/APC

Still a rough block though.

Hmm anyway this IFV will be of similar size as German Puma IFV.

Hmm some "features"
-Turbo-electric transmission, gas turbine-generator-permasyn motor, because i fall in love with it.
-My APS, hmm it seems all IFV does not built to counter KE threats thus i think i can lower down my APS specs for this.
-Adjustable suspension, so it can present itself to her highness during ceremony. Although i kinda doubt it's value in combat :p
-Some form of turret, armament would be 30mm autocannon and missiles (FAE,ATGM,...)
-Infantry capacity similar as Puma (6)

feel free for thoughts.. and BTW is "Hellhound" a good name :3 ?

Vihenian male officer are trained for not to use GPS or SATNAV as part of Emcon strategy, but instead rely on natural landmarks or stars. Vihenian female officer however are hmmm easier, they can just go topless and let their breasts sense the right direction. The Forest Elves and Valkyrian officers are known for such ability, while other female race such as Mountain and Desert elves have to rely on more conventional method. The factor causing this however is still unknown.

Speaking for myself, the turret on the top right one looks far too bulky, and if the top left is a portee like I think it is, then the gun seems a bit long.

Well it's sort of a portee in the sense that the gun will come off. You'll just have a hard time firing the it when you take it off.

They look fine to me. But you should consider adding a bit of space on the side. Like say 5px or so. That way the things won't be stuck to the walls.

Two more Ragon loyalist vehicle-The K-124 and 125 Assault Guns.

The K-124 Assault Gun is your typical one assault gun, a casemate self-propelled gun meant for taking lots of hits from the front and supporting infantry with it's short 105mm Mass Driver. The K-124 entered service in 2942, after the K-101 was put in reserve service and the K-102 became the Ragon's main battle tank. The K-124 was easier to produce and cost less (2 million bucks) making it become more common than other Ragon vehicles, even dedicated battle tanks. Before the civil war, a estimated 6 million K-124's where in service, against 4.5 million K-102's.

During the civil war, as more and more dedicated battle tanks where lost the Ragon began to upgrade the K-124, giving it a long-barreled 135mm Mass Driver, and gave this new version, called the K-125 to armored units. The K-125 was a welcomed sight, due to it's thick frontal armor and low profile.

Stats.
Type-Assault Gun.
Weight-43 tonnes (K-124) 55 tonnes (K-125)
Crew-3 (Commander, Driver and gunner)
Number produced-Both Variants-9 million.
Armor-890mm composite.
Engine-Zeegers V14 1000 horse power engine.
Main Armament-(K-124) K-12 Short Barreled 105mm Mass Driver.
(K-125) K-9 Long Barreled 135mm Mass Driver
Secondary Armament-Two 7.92 machine guns.
Ammunition- (K-124) 65 shells.
(K-125) 45 shells.
Suspension-Tension.
Fuel capacity- 420 gallons.
Operational Range- 340 miles.
Speed- (on road) 67 miles per hour.
Off Road-45 miles per hour.

Note, this is a space tank, I would assume since it's on multiple planets, more will be made.

Not quite sure what you mean.

Basically, your images are on a transparent background but there is no space on the sides. They are literally wall to wall.

What, the non-existent border? Yeah, that's what happens when you export from Flash. It just frames the image to the outermost parts of whatever you've drawn.

I usually modify the images manually afterward in paint.net to add a bit of space. You see, when it's wall to wall like that and someone uses the "view image" option the stuff on the edges touches the edges of the black background. But really, it's nothing that actually matters. I am just OCD about it for some god dam reason.

Ok, I want to design my own stuff within RL constraints, it just looks too much fun.
I decided that, rather then employ the German Marder IFV, I will design my own.

I've thrown together some specs and a short history/description. I'm pretty much taking the Japanese Type 89 as my inspiration with alterations.

No.5 Mk.1 Armoured Infantry Carrier
- Type: Infantry Fighting Vehicle
- Place of Origin: Chebucto
- In service: 1993-present
- Used by: Chebucto Army
- Designer: East Coast Marine and Industrial Inc.
- Designed: 1981-1984
- Manufacturer: Bear Head Tank Plant
- Produced: 1991-present
- Number built: 220

Specifications
- Weight: 32 tonnes up to 42 tonnes
- Length: 7m
- Width: 3.6m
- Height : 2.5m
- Crew: 3+8
- Armor: Welded steel base, composite applique
- Main armament: Oerlikon Contraves 35mm KDE
- Secondary armament: 7.62x51mm FN MAG, 2x Spike LR
- Engine: Detroit Diesel 8V-71TTA (650hp), later 8V-92TA (850hp)
- Power/weight: 21hp/tonne
- Transmission: Allison XTG411-4B or XTG411-5
- Suspension: Hydrogas In-Arm Adjustable
- Fuel capacity: 670 litres
- Operational range: 520km
- Speed: 70km/h

Background
The No.5 Armoured Infantry Carrier project was started in 1977 to study a replacement for the No.4 Mk.IV* AIC (Heavily upgraded half track)then forming the backbone of the Chebucto Army. Although a number of proposals were submitted by 1981 East Coast Marine and Industrial was selected to provide a refined design based on their 1990TA proposal. With refinements and input from the Army, a series of prototypes were produced and tested from 1985 through 1990, with initial production of a vehicle based on the last prototype series beginning in 1990. After completing trials acceptance the No.5 AIC entered service as the No.5 Mk.I in 1993. A series of improvements were included over the years of production. In 1995 the No.5 Mk.1* corrected a series of problems with the NBC overpressure system. The No.5 Mk.II was introduced in 1998 with the Spike LR missile in two individual launchers on the turret. The Mk.II* featuring applique composite armour was introduced in 1999, and the Mk.II** in 2001 with a new engine and transmission. In 2006 the Mk.III was introduced with brand new all-digital systems control, including a fully stabilized main gun. The Mk.III* introduced in 2012 includes a number of improvements to assist in low intensity conflict. All vehicles currently in service are of the Mk.III version, with conversion ongoing to Mk.III* alongside new production.

The No.5 AIC follows a conventional layout for an infantry fighting vehicle. The engine and transmission is to the front right of the vehicle with the driver and one dismount to the left. A central turret is offset to the right of the hull and contains a crew of two. Seven dismounts sit in the rear of the hull, with three on each side facing inwards, and a fourth seat on the left side facing forwards alongside the turret. There are five spherical gun ports in the rear of the vehicle for the infantry to fire their rifles from within, two on each side and one in the rear ramp offset to the left. Each gun port provides a protected vision port on the gun port itself to aim the rifle, and also has a day periscope above it for normal operation. Access to the troop compartment is provided by a hydraulic rear ramp with a single door in it offset to the right of the ramp. Two hatches over the raised rear troop bay open to the left and right outwards to provide cover when reloading the Spike launchers.

The main armament is a 35mm autocannon, with a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. Two Spike LR missiles are fitted, one on either side. The vehicle has a fully stabilized main armament, and digital fire control system with current generation IR sights. Although initially fitted with a 650hp diesel engine, the later models have been uprated to 850hp to compensate for increased weight when additional applique modules have been fitted.

How does it look?

What program are you using to model this?

Hm. I have never used such an application. I may look into it, seeing that it gives a better appearance versus my line-heavy models in SketchUp Make.

On another note, what are the beneficial and detrimental qualities of the use of track return rollers?
