I dont think we should have representatives of unions or owners but civil servants who have enough experience in economics to decide minimum living income needed...

This allows for heavy bias in favor of the owners as the owners have more money and more influence among individuals than unions.

I dont see how that has a issue, I am sure bribing civil servants is criminal offence and frankly we shouldn't have representatives from either stakeholders but people who are experts at what they are doing: ie. economists. I dont see how having union leaders or CEOs in trying to determine how much people need to survive is good idea or will result in anything but partisan results. I mean surely having economists who are independent and know what they are doing will result in more accurate result?

Economists are almost never independent.

So you believe having people who haven't got experience with economics, or representatives with vested interest like CEO's and union leaders will result in more accurate value than employing people who have studied and have experience with economics?

The people who control economics surely don't have experience in it.
The Nihilistic view wrote:Of course, The CEO's and Union leaders would come together and what they agree on would be not just a minimum wage but the market wage for unskilled labour. It would actually be much more accurate than somebody from outside the market place setting the rate as it would represent the equilibrium point between the supply of unskilled labour and the demand of unskilled labour.
Having thought about it I think Kam's idea is a good one.
