General Assembly Bureaucracy Reference Guide

Postby Sciongrad » Thu Apr 17, 2014 3:57 pm

There used to be a comprehensive list of General Assembly agencies, departments, and committees on NSWiki, but unfortunately, that's been lost to the void. I figured making a similar list in order to act as a sort of reference guide for authors interested in utilizing the General Assembly's vast bureaucracy would be useful. My belief that this type of reference guide might be useful was confirmed during the creation of this list, actually. Going through the annals of World Assembly law while researching for this list, my clerks have noticed many instances of unnecessary, overlapping, and even identical committees. So without further ado:

Well, #296 refers to the WA Disaster Board. I think that one popped up by mistake.
Nation May also be called Ebsas Shomad.

Interpretable. I really hate that name. I also used the word 'hereafter', which could apply as: 'here after for all time' or 'here in this resolution'.

And the former interpretation is absurd; I'd argue that it would even constitute an amendment of sorts, which we don't deal in here in the GA.

I raised that same point in the resolution's debate thread.

R.I.P. The GESTAPO (Feb 2016 - Oct 2016). It was nice having passports checked by you. Rumours that you still carry your old name remain denied at worst and barely accepted by the die-hard Snakepitsters at best.

On a more serious note, any new updates? This hasn't been updated for a couple of years now!

The former interpretation could technically be regarded as illegal. Then again, this is one of the few times where I'm glad that a potential illegality has escaped. You won't see me say that often, so milk the statement for all it(')s* worth.

Nope; if I remember correctly, lacking the apostrophe, in the specific case of "Its/It's" makes it a possessive. To contrast, "It's" is a contraction of "It is".

It works in either case:

1) milk the statement for all it is worth = milk the statatement for all the statment is worth- fine
2) milk the statement for all its worth = milk the statement for all the worth of the statement - fine

Agreed. the second interpretation is likely the more common one. The GESTAPO is here to stay, I'm afraid.

Coordination of Space Consortium is missing, and that was in an earlier resolution.

Also, WSA, but maybe you just haven't gotten into the 300s yet.
