Poll News Network! Polled #1 for polling news

Postby Poll News Network » Fri Mar 07, 2014 4:02 pm

Welcome to Poll News Network! Here you'll find news on the most fun feature in NS - Polls! This thread will be occasionally updated and interesting polls capture the attent on the author, otherwise you can discuss polls you find here.

--

Issue 1

It has been 3 months since the Polls feature was released and the initial flurry of excitement has died down. There are 9 pages of polls being conducted and open right now and only 2 pages eligible public polls to vote in. Most too, are on mundane topic and/or specific regional issues. Despite the situation, we found some gems.

Fluffy cats calm TNP Delegate's 'Poll Rage'

McMasterdonia, great poll lover and delegate of TNP, was having trouble thinking of new ideas for poll. He lashed out recently at the totally innocent bystander asking when he was going to make his next poll "You haven't been given me any ideas! You're supposed to be the Minister for Polls!". Fortunately Alunya came to save the day before McMasterdonia's poll rage got out of control, coming with a brilliant poll:

Regional Poll • Who should be the official cat of the North Pacific?

Options include AbaCAThea, AbbehCAT and overwhemling favourite so far, Alunya. A small crowd of dissenters seem to be rallying around (and possibly mythical) Elu:turtle:. A rock lurking in the middle of #tnp is said to be this creature, but no-one has ever seen it not 'idle', except for some old timers we don't care about.

Fratt frets, fooling 'fundies' with fulsome poll

The Rejected Realms was dealing with some rabble-rosuing-no-good-doin-fundies who wanted wanted a 'revolution' in TRR. To distract the rest of the populace from their incoherent spam,Delegate Frattastan - who notoriously resisted making polls-, finally gave TRR its first poll:

The Rejected Realms • Do you like any of the "Gameplay Summit" changes?

It's a pretty boring poll by any standard, but it's a start and fulsome poll with 8 options. We welcome Fratt to the Poll Club.

Polls to make you think...and vote in

Laissez Faireholm • What kind of libertarian are you?

An ordinary poll on the surface, but looking at the options I never knew you could be a Monarchist Libertarian or Paleo Libertarian...

Paraguay • Democracy and Ideological Diversity are the same thing?

An interesting poll, and also relevant to the too-often arguments we have on the Gameplay forums here about democracy, regional identity, defending, raiding and independence. I'm pretty sure the poll creators weren't thinking of it, but it's a timely coincidence.

Silly polls for pugly proles!

Dubtopia • Godzilla has been spotted once again! We must...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory • Which character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is your favorite?

Doge related poll is up. Will this poll be controversial enough for us to be raided by the Poll Raiders once again?

The dog poll had plenty of poll raiders show up to win the vote for Grosseshnauzer.

Reasons why Poll raiding is a more challenging game than region raiding.

Poll raiding has a definite end to declare winners - whoever has the highest vote at the end if the poll.

Poll piling happens in real time, so anyone can participate and you never know when you'll be attacked.

Poll raiding is not just about you. The results of your poll raids also influence the real voters votes who look at the fixed results.

Especially with poll balancing, keeping track of your puppets is harder than in R/D. No dossiers so you either have to login or scroll through the long voters list to find out which way your puppet voted.

Poll raiding and balancing is not just about piling but strategic withdrawals as well. If your poll raiding option tricks real voters into voting that way too, you can later withdraw your puppets and deny any responsibility. Remember poll doesn't show in happenings, so there's no evidence apart from screen shots. In poll balancing sometimes it is an option either to add more puppets or withdraw some existing ones to balance the vote.

The best poll raids are those where the outcome was fixed without the target region knowing. This is more strategic with considerations of when to send puppets in, when to vote etc. A bunch of puppets all jumping in just before the vote ends is pretty obvious....

There's a lot of worthy Poll News going on, but the most significant ones of Lazarus achieving poll equality and the legal challenge to poll raiding has been covered by Lazarus news sources. Full credits to their reporters

Socialism affirmed as Lazarus acheives poll equality! Not even a button may stand above its bretheren!

Subversive Moderators Wage A Bourgeoisie War On Poll Equality!

So instead, I'm leaving you with some funny, frivolous polls for your weekend entertainment! Due to pending moderator decision we advise strongly against any action that could be seen a poll raiding. Vote only with one nation. Poll News Network will also temporarily only cover Public Polls for now, unless the poll has already been concluded.
