Saving private Ryan. It's going to be a comedic review, so the title would be

"Saving Private Only Child" or "Tom Hanks Saves Matt Damon from the Nazis.

As far as I remember, the Belle operated in late 1942 to early 1943 - she'd likely have gone to Germany largely unescorted. Not that she spend very much time over Germany. Most of the Belle's trips were to France.

Some of my friends and I had to make a musical for art class once. We ended up doing a shitty redo of SPR. The guy we originally planned to play the (only) Nazi had a death in the family, so I had to play the Nazi, gunning down my friends with a broomstick while singing "Another One Bites the Dust". At the end I got blown up with a pineapple grenade (I actually bought it from the WWII museum in New Orleans, it had been deactivated) while everybody else was singing "Mama I'm Coming Home". It was so bad it was good.

Name: *Viscount* Adolf von Vegesack
Age: 35 at the time of Operation Highwire (January 7th, 1941)
Rank: Löjtnant (Lieutenant) - Swedish Air Force
Sergeant - (British) Royal Air Force

Physical Description/Picture: A pale faced, clean shaven, and smooth skinned figure, Vegesack is almost uncannily a caricature of the stereotypical aristocrat with an overtly polite and articulate personality. He comes with the Baltic blue eyes, again stereotypically typical of Scandinavians, along with a disturbingly resembling mustache as famously donned by the Luftwaffe ace Adolf Galland. Coupled with his obvious Germanic traits, it's small wonder that Vegesack often jokes, not to mention being the subject of countless others, about his nearly unnerving resemblance to the famed German airman - which has inevitably caused some degrees of conflict between his RAF counterparts ever since he took up flying for the British King shortly after the outbreak of the German invasion of France. In fact, much to the humorous dismay of his RAF peers, the only thing keeping Vegesack from creaming his slick black hair backwards (as Galland did), as stated himself, was of the possibility that he would be shot by some trigger-happy Home Guardsmen the second he took a step outside.

Country of Origin: Sweden - mercenary airman
Flight/Flight Combat Experience:
First flew in 1929 as a civilian at the age of 24. Worked for next three years flying for AB Aerotransport, mostly in German-built Junkers F.13 aircraft. However gained some trivial experience with operating a Junkers G.24 triplane as well.

Accepted a recruitment offer by the Swedish Air Force in 1932. Introduced to militaristic flying and operated a Svenska Aero Jaktfalke biplane fighter for three years.

Began initiation into mercenary flying in 1935 as a non-violent adviser and instructor to the Argentine air force during the interwar South American arms race. Returned to Sweden for two months after about a year of paid service to Beunos Aires.

Resumed mercenary flying upon outbreak of Spanish Civil War in 1936. Motivated by deeply secretive and sensitive reasons, and thus prefers not to discuss his services in the Iberian Peninsula with anyone but the very closest to him. (Intend on revealing sometime along the line)

Suddenly returns to Sweden only two and a half years since joining the Spanish conflict under suspicious circumstances. Abstains from flying overseas for the next several months into early 1939.

Reenters foreign flying in the Far East in summer 1939 under the patronage of the Chinese Nationalist government. Fights alongside the Soviet Volunteer Group against the Japanese while hostilities break out in Europe. Gains experience operating Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter aircraft in this theatre.

Wounded and narrowly survives after being shot down in China in early 1940 at the height of the Phony War in Europe. Returns to Sweden dazed and intending on abstaining from action to recover.

Reluctant on entering the war in Europe as France is invaded by Germany in May 1940. However, is coaxed under intriguing events to join the RAF as Allied forces are driven towards the sea.

Serves in a Supermarine Spitfire and fights alongside the RAF through the Dunkirk evacuations and the stages of the Battle of Britain.

Finds himself suddenly transferred to a supposedly elite RAF squadron of sorts - No. 319 - based at RAF Tempsford. Vaguely informed as being a replacement airman after No. 319 squadron suffered high losses in battle at some point.

Ground Combat Experience: Prior to his service in the Swedish Air Force, Vegesack was a non-commisioned draftee in the army due to the law of conscription in his country - and thus was decently trained in basic marksmenship and other soldierly skills.

He was forced to use his training as a foot soldier for the first time during a fierce, but brief skirmish with hostile forces in Spain.

Most notably in this field of activity, Vegesack had to put his knowledge to most work when he was trapped behind enemy lines in central China after being shot down for several days before finally being rescued by Chinese Nationalist troops.

Specialties:
Veteran flying experience with aircraft of a variety of national origins, including Swedish, German, Soviet, and eventually British "pieces". Regarding this, it should be noted that his curiously well fleshed knowledge of German aircraft often attracts the most attention of his peers.

Rather proficient training and experience fighting on the ground - however, despite having warded off snipers in Spain and Japanese patrols in China, Vegesack is still not of special forces grade.

Ironically given the fact that he is currently serving with the British RAF, the aristocrat Vegesack still has to yet fully master the English language in the manner that he does with Swedish, German, Finnish, and Russian. That's not mentioning the proficient but with room to improve Spanish and the tidbit phrases and basic expressions of Mandarin Chinese that he managed to pick up while on his campaigns in these aforementioned nations.

It should be noted that Vegesack is also a slight master of disguise - at least in name. In each of his fighting travels abroad, the Swedish nobleman adheres to a different identity each time to suit his surroundings: for example, he was Lieutenant Raul Ortega of the Spanish republic during his time as a liaison in Argentina, while he took on the guise of Soviet flight officer Oleg Seleznyova in China.

While being an airman and such, Vegesack's earlier medical occupations often become easily overlooked by the more flamboyant aspects of his life. He originally studied as a surgeon, and was known by both instructors and peers to have an extraordinary steady hand under pressure (which eventually came as an advantage as he took up the flight stick). However, he resigned his commission shortly after finishing his studies due to personal discomfort with the "polished gruesome" nature of the job - but that's not saying that the skills and lessons acquired went away with the resignation.

Weapons of Choice: Prior to his transfer to the peculiar RAF No. 319 squadron, Vegesack only handled small arms in dire emergencies when attacked or when fearing attack by hostile ground forces. Thus, his primary weapons of choice, besides the obvious notion of the aircraft that he is flying, are of his Swedish issued Lahti L-35 pistol, a Swiss Army knife, and an issued K31 rifle bayonet.

RP Experience: Ah, that's a problem: you see, I've participated in many RPs in the past. However, pretty much all of them were in Forum 7 before the Multiverse was established - and thus deleted from existence. I also was using a different account then, and didn't really like it. I was RPing back in the day when I actually saw Operation Guillotine constantly jumping up and down the forum, to say that. Eventually, I left NS for a year or so, however I returned just recently out of re-interest. If you still have doubts over my abilities, I guess you could see the literary nature of my whole application as a last resort by me to prove that that I'm capable of RPing decently.

Personal History/Bio:
To fully "know" Adolf von Vegesack, one must delve into the intriguing history of his family. By the 17th century, the Vegesacks had finally established themselves as a family of the lower nobility after much hard work, good luck, and toil as merchants and bankers. The family reached its highest ascension during the reign of Charles XI, when successful banker Razmus von Vegesack manage to purchase the title of Marquis for the family name. However, the Vegesacks also seemingly collapsed in conjunction with their empire: three sons and four cousins perished in the disastrous 1709 Battle of Poltava, where Russia under Peter the Great dealt a crushing blow to the combined Swedish armies. As the latter power suffered the terrible consequences of losing such a decisive battle, the Vegesack's titles declined and the devastated family was forced to recondition themselves with the loss of several heirs.

Despite Sweden being effectively neutralized as the military superpower in the Baltic, the family remained keenly ingrounded with the affairs of war and conflict; many a Vegesack in the centuries came to sign themselves away as mercenaries and soldiers-for-hire with interests in both traveling abroad and the seductive paychecks that went along with their "occupations". Usually, these members of the family fought within the armies of France, the power that had been closest to Sweden throughout the latter's early history.

Among the most notable was Adophus von Vegesack of the 18th century, serving within the French army during the massive Seven Years' War; who fought as a officer in the great general Montcalm's army in French Canada, where he later stayed for good, surviving the 1759 First Battle of Quebec, then defecting to the American Revolution during the Second only years later.

Fast forward to the smoke and steam of the 20th century, and here is where Adolf von Vegesack joins the fascinating history of his family. By this time, the family's tradition of soldiering was in decline as its members continuously pursued civilized occupations. Raised during such a time, Adolf was born into part of the now medical side of the Vegesacks. Despite originally studying to be a surgeon, as his father insisted, he discovered that he was often at odds with his disgust for the graphical nature of the job. He eventually came to the conclusion that it was always more comfortable reading about cadavers than actually dissecting them, and found work in the hospital library and records department instead.

Adolf gained his wings in 1929 as a civilian at the age of 24; he was introduced to aviation by a brother-in-law who was a manager for the Swedish airline AB Aerotransport. Unsatisfied with his sterile occupation of a hospital archivist, Vegesack enthusiastically signed up to be a pilot for the airline. After several years flying for AB Aerotransport, mostly in German-built Junkers F.13 aircraft, Vegesack accepted a recruitment offer by the Swedish Air Force, which was undergoing reforms and expansion at the time. His acceptance was made much easier by his aristocratic background; the Swedish Air Force, while expanding, was still a pathetically minuscule force compared with the British RAF or German Luftwaffe. During this time, he had to accustom himself to not only his issued Svenska Aero Jaktfalke fighter biplane, but also the rigorous, aggressive, and teeth-cutting manners of flying in the military.

Tragedy struck when Vegesack's wife, Tamara, became stricken with a sudden break of tuberculosis. Despite fighting a courageous battle against the disease, she eventually came to pass on. Distraught with grief, Vegesack sought to spend his stress in the open world instead of simply gathering and burying it at home. A trained and experienced pilot, Vegesack then brooded over the works of Douhet and Trenchard, dived into the strife strewn newspapers, and most influentially, the family archives detailing the history of his family's many exploits from the sons that fell at Poltava, to the ancestors that served in the American Revolution, Napoleon's Grande Armée, all the way to the Crimean War. It was at this time when he was beginning to see the Vegesack's declining tradition of foreign soldiering as the next turn on the road.

However, Sweden's signature political neutrality prevented its military airmen from being deployed overseas, which Vegesack saw as a way to travel and see the world, albeit in a not so comfortable manner. In fact, he was initially hesitant about the mischievous, highly dangerous, but lucrative prospects of traveling the world in a less than peaceful manner. In the years that followed, he took on the unofficial occupation of an airman for hire - a mercenary pilot - willing to provide his services to the highest bidding faction; or at least the one that he preferred personally or served his interests the most.

Vegesack's initiation into a soldier (or airman, as he preferred calling it) of fortune took him to some of the most volatile hot-spots of the Interwar period. He proceeded with these adventures cautiously: he started off slow and non-violent, and his first overseas trip involved being bought by the Argentine military to serve as an aviation adviser during the South American arms race at the time. Eventually as the militarization of Argentina, Chile, and Brazil began to slow, Vegesack returned to Sweden with his pay after a year of instructing and training pilots.

In the time that passed between his first two foreign adventures, he devoted his newly gained salary to aid those close to him - he played a major role in assisting a German cousin recovering from debt, while he donated another portion of his wealth to the hospital that had formerly employed him. Vegesack also kept Tamara's struggling family afloat by supplying them with loans; in all, these generous deeds graciously rewarded him with the glorious nickname "Monte Cristo" from those that benefited from his aid.

Emboldened by the results of his previous journeying, Vegesack chose to resume mercenary flying upon outbreak of Spanish Civil War in 1936. However, this time he was particularly motivated by deeply secretive and sensitive reasons for the time, and thus prefers not to discuss his services during this conflict with anyone but the very closest to him. (I intend on revealing this aspect of his past sometime along the line)

Vegesack suddenly returned to Sweden after only two and a half years since joining the Spanish conflict under suspicious circumstances. In this process, he discovered to his dismay that his salary received from his venture was significantly lower than the check rewarded by the Argentines, well given to the severity of the war in Spain. He continued in his previous acts of goodwill, but he also concerned relatives and friends alike with a sudden unexpected change in personality since returning from Spain. Although many simply assumed that he was only recovering from some kind of post-traumatic stress from the horrors of the Civil War, which they were well aware of from the news reports, Vegesack soon became a subject of curiosity as he increasingly took to isolating himself from society.

His aides and friends described an increasingly foxy persona harshly insistent on "securing" rooms before he entered them, and having a somewhat paranoid habit of looking back whenever he ventured out in public. During this time, Vegesack resumed his official job in the Swedish Air Force, along with idling in his study for extended periods of time; his family and friends assumed that he was working on paperwork or writing a novel or memoir. They never knew for sure, for he always locked the door to his study whenever he was in it; and whenever someone knocked, he would answer and walk outside to carry the conversation elsewhere.

In this manner, Vegesack abstained from flying overseas for the next several months into early 1939, the fateful year where the world quite literally caught on fire. Reviewing the newspapers, Vegesack suddenly found himself fascinated by the affairs of the Orient, notably the brutal Second Sino-Japanese War largely overshadowed and overlooked by the Spanish Civil War in Europe and the West. He discovered in a conversation with his colleagues in the Air Force that the Chinese Nationalist government under Chiang Kai-Shek was going to great lengths in reshaping their beleaguered equivalent, which intensively involved talk and rumors of lavishly well paid Italian pilots and an entire body of Soviet airmen that formed the core of the Nationalists' air cadre. Quoting Napoleon's maxim of the land of China being a sleeping giant, Vegesack soon packed his bags and sent himself for the Fjärran Östern.

The Swedish nobleman thus reentered foreign flying in the summer of 1939 under the patronage of the Chinese Nationalist government. Adopting a alternate persona of a Soviet flight officer, he fought distinctively alongside the Soviet Volunteer Group against the aerial might of the Japanese Empire while hostilities broke out in Europe. Despite a rough introduction to the unfamiliar Soviet Polikarpov I-16 fighter aircraft in this theatre, Mladshiy leytenant Oleg Seleznyova dazzled fellow comrades with his surprisingly skillful flying even in the midst of overwhelming odds; he most infamously managed to survive a horrific air battle with an entire Japanese air group that nearly annihilated his squadron to a man.

It was during this very same day of fate that Vegesack's luck came dangerously close to running out; he apparently returned to his base only to bitterly discover that it that been overrun hours before. Despite having a anti-aircraft shell decisively damaging his aircraft and his left arm, Vegesack summoned his last resources and strength to carry on flying westwards towards friendly territory until his plane ran out of fuel and was forced to ditch it in a rice field. Trapped behind enemy lines with only a handgun, knife, and several maps, he wandered around the Chinese countryside for several days before finally being rescued by Chinese Nationalist troops, but only after a local village paid the brutal price for assisting him.

Wounded and left in shock by his Chinese travels during early 1940 at the height of the Phony War in Europe, Vegesack returned to Sweden a dazed and scarred man, intending on abstaining from further action to recover after being forced to look at his mercenary life in a different way. With Europe now in full scale war, Vegesack was recalled to the Swedish Air Force as his home country mobilized whatever resources it had to defend its sacred neutrality.

When France is invaded by Germany in May 1940, Vegesack, stripped of the valiant spirit of his previous youthful idealism, was reluctant on entering the war in Europe. However, he was coaxed under intriguing events to join the RAF as Allied forces are driven towards the sea. Upon entering the service of His Majesty of the British Empire, Vegesack suspiciously found himself having an easier path than his other British and foreign colleagues in the RAF: he initially expected to man the common Hawker Hurricane aircraft, but came to serve in one of the new advanced Supermarine Spitfires. Based at RAF Biggin Hill, he fought alongside the RAF throughout the Dunkirk evacuations and the various stages of the Battle of Britain. The flamboyant combination of his flying prowess and skill, his unique Germanic and Scandinavian heritage, the countless war stories that he possessed, and as well as his strong resemblance to Luftwaffe ace Adolf Galland (which involved a same first name) lead to an expected popularity amongst men that one clearly anticipated of "Adolf Galland von Hitler Veggie-Sack".

After becoming nearly a celebrity within his respective fighter wing, Vegesack found himself, in great dismay and disappointment, suddenly transferred to a supposedly elite RAF squadron of sorts - No. 319 - based at RAF Tempsford. Already bitter with departing from a community that he had worked so hard to become familiar with, Vegesack unenthusiastically arrives at Tempsford on the morning of January 7th, 1941 after being vaguely informed as being a replacement airman after No. 319 squadron suffered high losses due to battle attrition at some point.

If anyone hasn't, watch it. It's top drawer.

It's a great movie, though I guess any movie with Sean Connery or Micheal Caine is good.

AWARDS, DECORATIONS, HONOURS, ETC.:

According to information gathered by the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6,
a certain FELDWEBEL (SERGEANT) HANS GERLACH was to receive the (SPANIENKREUZ) Spanish Cross in Silver*
by the German government for distinguished services during his two years with the Condor Legion in the Spanish
Civil War. However, the directorate also reports that FELDWEBEL GERLACH mysteriously disappears from known
sources shortly after being recommended the award - presumably in an act to protect his true identity.
For reasons only available to authorized personnel, the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6
hence believes that FELDWEBEL GERLACH and SGT. VON VEGESACK are one and the same man.

Medal of Awe-Inspiring with One Ribbon* (Republic of China), 17 December 1939;
Star Medal - First Grade* (Republic of China), 17 December 1939;
Medal of Victorious Garrison - Second Class* (Republic of China), 14 February 1940;
Chinese Air Force Medal* (Republic of China), 14 February 1940;

Distinguished Flying Medal, 18 December, 1940.
*Medals of foreign service or from foreign sources. The directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6,
notes that various sources perfectly correlate these awards and reception dates with those given
to a certain Soviet LT. OLEG SELEZNYOVA - an inferred pseudonym of SGT. VON VEGESACK.

DISCIPLINARY RECORD:

Primary concerns regarding SGT. VON VEGESACK are mainly based in the nature of
his past endeavors in life. The directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6, has officially deemed such
information as inappropriate for this category; those with authorization and proper clearance should refer to
SGT. VON VEGESACK's service record on Page 4 of his dossier for known information
gathered by the directorate's sources.

Otherwise, SGT. VON VEGESACK has had quite a smooth, if not interesting, personal track record:
commanding officers and fellow airmen alike all describe a "good intentioned" and "mellow minded fellow"
of the man.Superiors of his same middle age regard SGT. VON VEGESACK as a
source of inspiration and consultancy regarding various aspects of anything German - the subjects
of which SGT. VON VEGESACK possesses great, almost definitive, knowledge.
Perhaps most influentially, CPT. MALAN, the acting Squadron Leader of RAF No. 74 Squadron,
described SGT. VON VEGESACK as "the kind of man who only fuels the curiosity of others when he explains more.
I could imagine him running a classroom when this war ends."

However, SGT. VON VEGESACK's blatant Germanic and Scandinavian heritage,
not to mention his especially fascinating physical resemblance to German ace pilot Adolf Galland,
has ultimately led to a notorious incident detailed in the following passages:

- 25 July, 1940: Whilst engaged with No. 610 Squadron in a ferocious battle against a wing-sized element of
Junker Ju 87 'Stuka' dive bombers attacking a Royal Navy MTB (Motor Torpedo Boat)
flotilla off the coast of Dover, Kent, SGT. VON VEGESACK managed to successfully engage
and shoot down a Ju 87 at close range. However, his Mark I Supermarine Spitfire was severely
damaged in the process by flying debris from the enemy aircraft as it exploded.
His aircraft was sent into an uncontrollable stall as a result,
and SGT. VON VEGESACK, at the urges of his comrades over the radio,
bailed out and safely parachuted over the Kent town of Walmington-on-Sea.

However, SGT. VON VEGESACK landed into the coastal town's greengrocer shop,
which was also owned by the local ARP Warden WILLIAM HODGES.
In the testimony following the incident, HODGES testified that SGT. VON VEGESACK'S
crashing arrival from the roof of his shop greatly startled him.
When SGT. VON VEGESACK, still dazed by the impact of his landing, asked the warden for assistance,
his strong Germanic accent and physical likeliness to German fighter ace Adolf Galland led to
HODGES mistakenly assuming him to be the aforementioned figure; despite the presence of his RAF flying uniform.
HODGES thus panicked and, according to the testimonies of many civilian bystanders arriving
to investigate what was going on, ran screaming into the streets for Walmington-on-Sea's Home Guard platoon
under the command of CPT. MAINWAIRING to arrest the purported "Adolf Galland".

Several minutes passed by the time SGT. VON VEGESACK had managed to free himself
from his parachute reins using a personal knife and CPT. MAINWAIRING's Home Guard platoon
arrived on scene at ARP Warden HODGES' shop. According to all testimonies therein, including that of
CPT. MAINWAIRING and Warden HODGES, SGT. VON VEGESACK initially attempted to surrender
to the Home Guardsmen surrounding the shop. However, one of the Home Guardsmen
mistakenly discharged their issued weapon(s) as SGT. VON VEGESACK tried to open the door
leading outside to them; the two prime suspects behind this are believed to be PVT. PIKE,
who was armed with an automatic submachine gun at the time of the incident, or LN/CPL. JONES, a Sudan and
Great War veteran notorious in his platoon for an often trigger (or bayonet) happy and
overtly gung-ho fighting spirit under stress.

Testifying as fearing for his life in self-defense, SGT. VON VEGESACK henceforth drew his own
holstered handgun and returned fire out of the shop, managing to hijack Warden HODGES'
personal motorcycle which was still parked behind his business.
Luckily, no one was injured in the firefight, with only HODGES' shop suffering property damage from the gunfight.
CPT. MAINWAIRING then ordered his Home Guard platoon to give pursuit, using
LN/CPL. JONES' butcher's van as a vehicle to chase after SGT. VON VEGESACK.
The Home Guard officer also ordered a single member of his platoon to stay behind, the old and frail PVT. GODFREY,
who then telephoned the regional GHQ (General Headquarters) for assistance in hunting "Galland".
Within the hour, major military units stationed in the vicinity of the area, including the
Eastgate Home Guard platoon under CPT. SQUARE and as well as Regular Army elements of the
Royal West Kent Regiment, were alerted to presence of "Adolf Galland",
whom was apparently "shot down" over Walmington-on-Sea and fled on foot.

It should be noted that it was the units of the local Home Guard garrisons that played the most important part
in this incident: both initiating but resolving it in the end too. CPT. MAINWAIRING of Walmington-on-Sea's
No. 1 Platoon demonstrated impressive initiative in coordinating his hunt for "Galland" with a
supposedly rival commander, CPT. SQUARE of Eastgate. The two Home Guard units thus set up a
hastily prepared but effective pincer movement using their respective transport vans to pursue SGT. VON VEGESACK.
Whilst fleeing from CPT. MAINWAIRING's Home Guardsmen, SGT. VON VEGESACK lost control over
HODGES' motorcycle while trying to not crash directly into a makeshift road block set up by
CPT. SQUARE's Home Guardsmen from Eastgate. He was then restrained and held in custody of the two units.
It was at this exact time that GHQ Kent was notified by RAF Biggin Hill about a missing airman
from within its squadrons who was lost over the area that day; had it not been for the timely intervention
of the troops of No. 12 Platoon of the Royal West Kents arriving on scene during SGT. VON VEGESACK's capture
by the Home Guardsmen, the RAF pilot may have not been able to clear up the misunderstanding
for perhaps the next several hours.

The settling of such a waste of time and resources in the services of His Majesty's defense was,
at the insistence of SGT. VON VEGESACK, a particularly calm minded Walmington-on-Sea Home Guardsmen,
SGT. WILSON, and MJR. OAKMAN of the Judge Advocates General of the British Army, primarily
a non-legal and informal process. It was agreed upon that SGT. VON VEGESACK would spend
at least three days a week providing community service to the citizens of Walmington-on-Sea
until a deadline of 31 August, 1940. Meanwhile, the members of the town's Home Guard platoon
were to grant SGT. VON VEGESACK a warrant commission within the unit, as compensation for
unnecessarily escalating the situation. SGT. VON VEGESACK would serve as CPT. MAINWAIRING's
RAF liaison until the same deadline.

-Specialized combat flight training: RAF Tempsford (various aircraft types) - Sandy, United Kingdom
*foreign service, as reported by the sources of the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6.
**the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6, reports as so in accordance
to what is on official and trusted sources regarding SGT. VON VEGESACK's services
with the Chinese government under the likely alias of LT. SELEZNYOVA.
Given the fact that the location of the ROCAFA was already overrun by Japanese forces by the time of
LT. SELEZNYOVA's arrival in the region, this lavish title may only be a simple pseudonym
for much more obscure location.

- Type qualifications: Junkers F.13 (2 April, 1929), Junkers G.24* (14 March, 1931),
Svenska Aero JAKTFALKE* (9 October, 1932), Dewoitine D.27* (26 June, 1935),
Messerschmitt BF 109A-0** (1 February, 1937),
Polikarpov I-16*** (1 September, 1939), Supermarine SPITFIRE (25 May, 1940)

- Demonstrated proficient flying skills regarding current RAF service; peers remark about SGT. VON VEGESACK
having the charm of learning and adapting quickly to new things.

*Accreditation confirmed by various sources of the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6.
**the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6, infers that SGT. VON VEGESACK
had handled this aircraft during his services in the Spanish Civil War.
Confirmation has been difficult as SGT. VON VEGESACK must have operated within the Condor Legion
under a false identity, presumed to be a Luftwaffe FELDWEBEL (SERGEANT) named HANS GERLACH.

"PERICLES remained quite calm and sturdy despite the details of his surveillance
described to emotionally shake him into submission." A agreement was made between the MI6 operatives
and PERICLES that the latter's services and loyalties to His Majesty were to be rewarded
with a salary of 142 pound sterling per month.

787593 VON VEGESACK, A.V Page 4 of 4

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:

- Notes on enlistment status: SGT. VON VEGESACK's military service under His Majesty are and
will be under the covert surveillance and supervision of the Secret Intelligence Service and
its respective directorates. He is well aware of this, as the personal disclosure of such information
to him was necessary in the manner of his original recruitment supervised by the directorate of
Military Intelligence, Section 6 in OPERATION ALCIBIADES. As a result of this supervision, SGT. VON VEGESACK
was able to rapidly progress through the standardized training and procedures of the RAF with
the unknown aid of the services handling him; the Secret Intelligence Service deemed the
intensive training received by common RAF recruits to be a woeful waste of time,
citing past reports gathered on
SGT. VON VEGESACK's many years of flight experience.

It should be noted that although SGT. VON VEGESACK is currently deemed a high value individual
by the Secret Intelligence Service, he is not to function as an official agent or asset of
those respective services. Rather, he is what is to be deemed a "trusted individual"; one who operates
on behalf of His Majesty yet is not considered officially a member of the United Kingdom's intelligence services.

Notes on prior civilian occupations: SGT. VON VEGESACK, according to sources of the Secret Intelligence Service, had originally studied as a surgeon, but resigned his commission shortly after receiving his license.
He then worked for the next several years as a hospital archivist. In 1929, he applied for a job as an airman for
the Swedish airline AB Aerotransport, where he stayed for the next few years - as MI6 SPECIAL AGENT D. ECKERMAN comments: ". . . thus, justifying him as a very experienced flier that His Majesty's air force so in desperation of in these times."

-Notes on prior military service: SGT. VON VEGESACK, adhering to the law of conscription in native Sweden,
possessed basic training as a basic infantryman even before his career in aviation. Using his aristocratic family
foundations, he was able to enroll as a non-commissioned officer at Military Academy of Karlberg. By the time
he was discharged from compulsory service, SGT. VON VEGESACK had risen with a warrant commission of
Second Lieutenant. Shortly after his time spent as an airline pilot for AB Aerotransport, SGT. VON VEGESACK
accepted a recruitment offer by the Swedish Air Force, becoming a fighter pilot in the process. During his years
spent in this service, he eventually came to assume the title of Lieutenant by the time he offered his services
as a mercenary. Given his prior service as an infantryman, SGT. VON VEGESACK should most likely eventually fit in
with the nature of No. 319 Squadron, whose intended purpose was to function as both an air and ground special operations unit.

- Notes on received pay and salary: As part of the signed agreement between SGT. VON VEGESACK
and agents of the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6 regarding his original recruitment
into the RAF, SGT. VON VEGESACK is to receive additional pay alongside his standard RAF salary
of an annual (yearly) £237 pound sterling to fulfill the signed agreement granting him a monthly £142
- thus, he is to receive payments of £1,704 pound sterling per year. MI6 SPECIAL AGENT D. ECKERMAN,
who handled OPERATION ALCIBIADES and oversaw the agreement with PERICLES, comments:
"It's absolutely outrageous yes, but it is us who are to blame; he (PERICLES) merely was smart enough
to settle upon the monetary proposal as said by our superiors." To fulfill His Majesty's part in the agreement,
SGT. VON VEGESACK's salary is to be drawn from the monetary base gathered from OPERATION CAMBYSES
if necessary. See Air Ministry - RECORDS OF PERSONNEL - 668492 for further reference.

- Notes on strategic value and worth: MI6 SPECIAL AGENT D. ECKERMAN comments: "He's
(PERICLES) been through experiences and perspectives that very few have survived to tell about, even in our directorate.
PERICLES' technical knowledge of both German and Soviet equipment, tactics, and doctrine, coupled with his
inferred experiences with the governments of Argentina, Germany, Falangist Spain, and China will be of great
service to His Majesty, especially within the Special Operations Executive which is due to be in need of activities
within these respective fields of territory and knowledge.

- Notes on foreign air service: Information gathered by the directorate of Military Intelligence, Section 6,
and other branches of the Secret Intelligence Service,
strongly supports the notion that SGT. VON VEGESACK
was a known mercenary pilot and soldier-of-fortune for much of his life. This assumption has been made
after painstaking studies of various sources within international governments associated with the locations
that he may have participated in conflicts with.
According to sources in South America, SGT. VON VEGESACK
may have operated within the Argentine Air Force under the alias of a Spanish Republican Air Force officer,
LT. RAUL ORTEGA. However, additional confirmation has been difficult regarding the identity of LT. ORTEGA
because of the chaotic outbreak of the Spanish Civil War shortly afterwards. European sources correlate a
relationship between the activities of SGT. VON VEGESACK, who was presumably out of his home country
on a lengthy business trip to Portugal, and the service of a Luftwaffe airman named HANS GERLACH during
the Spanish Civil War at the time. FELDWEBEL GERLACH, a member of the Condor Legion,
entered the war in early 1936 and mysteriously disappears from known sources approximately two years later,

the same time in which SGT. VON VEGESACK returns from his overseas business trip. Years later, Asian sources
manage to detail the presence of a Soviet pilot named OLEG SELEZNYOVA in the Soviet Volunteer Group of
the Republic of China Air Force at the same time SGT. VON VEGESACK leaves for yet another overseas
business trip in India. Although LT. SELEZNYOVA was presumed to be Missing in Action after his unit was
destroyed in combat in early 1940,
SGT. VON VEGESACK is confirmed to have left India for home after being
hospitalized with injuries suspiciously consistent with surviving a plane crash shortly after.

Given these reports and intriguing circumstances, the directorate has concluded that SGT. VON VEGESACK
must have been operating under various aliases during his ventures as a mercenary.

- Notes on criminal and disciplinary record: Sources report that the German government had launched an official inquiry over
the identity of Luftwaffe FELDWEBEL HANS GERLACH, who disappeared weeks due to being awarded the
Spanish Cross in Silver for distinctive actions with the Condor Legion in Spain. FELDWEBEL GERLACH
was
reportedly under investigation for fraud and espionage within the military establishment, as he was suspected
of being a foreign national of sorts. However, sources also claim that the investigation was unsuccessful, and
ultimately dropped with no suspects convicted - although FELDWEBEL GERLACH's immediate superior,
OBERFAHNRICH FREDERICK VON LOWINGNER was put under close scrutiny for his alleged close relationship
with FELDWEBEL GERLACH in Spain.
As SGT. VON VEGESACK is suspected of being FELDWEBEL GERLACH,
he is thus wanted by the German government for crimes of fraud, false identity, and espionage.

MI6 SPECIAL AGENT D. ECKERMAN comments: "His (PERICLES') close call with the Condor Legion, and thus,
the Germans, was perhaps our greatest card against him when negotiating his services to His Majesty.
PERICLES seemingly surrendered to us when we threatened to turn him over to the Germans despite the war
going on with them; that a handover with the Abwehr was certainly possible given the fact that neutral countries
such as Sweden become hotbeds for espionage in such times of war."

Despite his inferred multiple aliases, SGT. VON VEGESACK has apparently only come into the conflict with the
German government over his identities
; his persona of the Spanish airman LT. ORTEGA has been overlooked by the
chaos of Spanish Civil War, while the Soviet officer LT. SELEZNYOVA has been officially written off as missing in combat.

l5 February l940: Engaged by two (2) Messerschmitt Bf l09s over northern France whilst on a delivery flight in an unarmed
Hawker Hurricane; P/O TALBOT successfully defended himself against his attackers, forcing them to disengage due to low
fuel. P/O TALBOT mentioned in despatches for this accomplishment.

29 May l940: Whilst on an observation flight in a Westland Lysander over the Dunkirk sector, T/F/O TALBOT and his observer
spotted a large German bomber at a Belgian airfield; on their own initiative, T/F/O TALBOT and his observer made two
photoreconnaissance passes over the heavily-defended airfield, and their aircraft sustained moderate damage from a
Messerschmitt Bf l09. With his aircraft damaged and his observer wounded, T/F/O TALBOT engaged the Messerschmitt and
successfully shot it down before making his way back to England. However, the aircraft crashed on landing due to damage
sustained in action, trapping the aircrew inside; T/F/O TALBOT successfully freed himself from the aircraft and proceeded
to aid in rescuing his observer from the burning aircraft.
For his gallantry in action and superb combat flight performance, T/F/O TALBOT was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross,
and for gallantry and heroism in the face of extreme danger T/F/O TALBOT was awarded the Air Force Cross.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:

Education:
St Cyprian's School, Eastbourne, East Sussex, l9l8-28
Eastbourne College, Eastbourne, East Sussex, l928-32;
- Achieved rank of Cadet Corporal, Eastbourne College Junior O.T.C.
- Member of school cricket, football, rugby, equestrian, rowing, sailing, and athletics teams
The Imperial College of Science and Technology, Kensington, County of London, l932-33 (withdrawn without receiving degree).
- Enlisted as Officer Cadet, University of London O.T.C.
Observations on personality: P/O TALBOT is reported by his commanding officers and peers to be an effective officer and an
agreeable fellow, though he is a bit of a paradox: at times he can be very open, particularly when conversing on military,
historical, and mechanical topics, yet at other times he is very reserved, almost to the point of withdrawn. His behaviour
off-duty does nothing to aid in unraveling his personality: he may enthusiastically join his peers at a nightclub or public
house, or he may forgo all companionship in favour of repairing his motorcar, reading, or listening to gramophone records
of Vera Lynn in solitude.
It is apparent that his personality issues were extant before his enlistment and are not a result of fatigue, and it is not
believed that they stem from any mental illnesses; as they do not affect his ability to carry out his duties, there is no
need to undertake any action at this time. However, it is not known what effects combat and fatigue will have on P/O
TALBOT given his temperament, so it is advisable for commanding officers to closely monitor his behavior and report
abnormalities to the medical officer.
Nick-named 'Gin & Tonic' by members of No. 26 Squadron, in reference to his initials as well as his favourite drink.
Has lost two (2) aircraft due to enemy action: Westland Lysander serial no. Pl720 (29 May l940) and Supermarine Spitfire serial
no. P8609 (l3 August l940).
Named his Spitfire 'The Brighton Belle', after the Southern Railway train and in honour of his home county.
Lived in the United States from l933 to l939; whilst there he competed in the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race in l934 and l935. Also
flew for the Seversky Aircraft Company at the Bendix Trophy and Thompson Trophy races, l936-l939; withdrew from the l939
races due to the outbreak of the war and returned home to enlist.
Designed 3l9 Squadron badge.

Rank: Flying Officer
Physical Description: white, 5'8", slight build, light brown hair, dark brown eyes
Country of Origin: England
Flight/Flight Combat Experience (good sources for experience could be the Spanish Civil War, maybe stunt pilot training, or simply previous Air Force experience): prewar air racer/barnstormer/crop duster, presently a RAF reconnaissance pilot

RP Experience (not necessary, but helpful): Have done a Napoleonic RP on Facebook
Personal History/Bio (more than one line please): Son of a Sussex farmer, Geoffrey Talbot developed an obsession with speed as a schoolboy. As a teenager he would perform subtle modifications on his father's Austin and take it out racing; here he developed his skills at making hasty repairs to hide the body damage from his father. At 18 he entered Imperial College London to study mechanical engineering, but he was more concerned with the practical aspects of engineering than the theoretical aspects, and dropped out after one year. This greatly displeased his parents, so to avoid their wrath he went to the United States and started racing cars and motorcycles at fairgrounds. In need of steady income, Talbot took flying lessons in order to become a crop duster pilot; his love of speed naturally led to him becoming a barnstormer and even to enter into several air races, where he had modest success flying outdated aircraft against the newest racing models. Following the outbreak of the war, he returned to England to enlist in the RAF and was commissioned as a ferry pilot; during one flight in France, Talbot's unarmed Hurricane was attacked by two Messerschmitts, but through skillful flying he managed to hold the German pilots off until they ran low on fuel and disengaged, allowing him to reach his destination, albeit with a damaged craft. This drew the attention of his superiors, who had him transferred to a photo reconnaissance squadron due to his skills.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:

Academic in civilian life; expert on Norman history.

Name: Valérie Adèle Marchand
Age: 20 (as of 8 October 1940)
Rank: SOE agent
Physical Description: 5' 5", petite, brown hair, blue eyes
Country of Origin: France
Flight/Flight Combat Experience: Parachute qualified.
Ground Combat Experience: Trained in close-quarters combat techniques, assassination, sabotage, and intelligence gathering.
Specialties (air or ground - communications, demolitions, disguises, languages, etc.): Communications (radio, Aldis lamp), explosives handling/demolition, fluent in French and English.
RP Experience: You should know by now...
Personal History/Bio (more than one line please): Daughter of a petite bourgeoisie shopkeeper and a housewife, Valérie Marchand was born in Évreux, département de l'Eure, following her father's return from service during the Great War. Educated in a convent school, Valérie was a keen student of literature and history, with a particular interest in Norman history; this interest in Norman history led to her making a number of trips to England to study the Norman Conquest, and allowed her to develop a fluency in English in the process. Following the outbreak of the war, she took a job as a shopgirl to free up a male clerk for military service, and in her free time she volunteered to assemble care packages for French soldiers. When it became clear that France would be overrun by the Germans during the Battle of France, her parents pleaded for her to escape to England; Valérie did not want to leave her parents behind, but she ultimately gave in to their pleas and caught the Dieppe-Newhaven ferry shortly before the Germans occupied Dieppe. Once in England, she lodged with some friends she met on one of her earlier trips to England; through one of these friends, the SOE gained knowledge of Valérie's presence in England, her fluency in English and French, and her knowledge of the Normandy countryside, and she was soon approached by the SOE with a recruitment offer.

During his teenage years, he became concerned at what he saw as the weakening of the nation by Communists and socialists, and he began adhering to the beliefs of Oswald Mosley and the British Union of Fascists; with the rise of Hitler in Germany, he began adopting more anti-Semitic sympathies and became a supporter of William Joyce's National Socialist League. However, he never actually joined these organizations or attended any of their rallies, so he did not arouse any suspicion among the security services. Following the outbreak of the war, he was approached by another closeted fascist sympathizer, who informed him that he knew of a man who could help them take back the country from the Communists and Jews...

So, new news:
1. The Excalibur Overture has been added, of course.
2. A rather nicely grandiloquent introduction has been added.
3. I fixed up Page's old app, and reposted it on the reserved posts along with his dossier, Ali's app and dossier, and the Majors' combined app.
4. Page has a picture, for the first time. Deal wit' it.

I think that's it.

The summons bell will chime
Tempting you and all the earth
To join our sinful kind
There is a job to be done and I'm the one
You people make me do it
Now it is time for your fate and I won't hesitate
To pull you down into this pit

So come on

I'd watch that.

On a related note, in high school the principal wanted my lit class to put on a play about Elie Wiesel's Night (yes, I blame Oprah), of course I said "fuck this Oprah bullshit, leave me out". But after we started rehearsals during class, I volunteered to be an SS trooper because the people who were playing SS troopers sucked at it. Long story short, I found out later in Spanish class that some of them thought that I was so convincing in the role that they thought I wasn't actually acting, and my (Jewish) Spanish teacher even agreed.
