It was the first day that our team gets to play. Since handball is a niche sport in Luziyca, and Kashui received the right to host handball games in the state capital, the team members scattered throughout the country had come to Moglinov. Today, our lads, yes, our Patriotic Lads, will face the Northern Sunrise Islands at the FC Moglinov Stadium, adapted for handball.

Thus, when we arrived last night, we immediately had supper and then rested. This morning, we had pancakes and soft drinks at the Gansevoort Hotel, and then began practicing. Since we had no fucking clue of the Northern Sunrise Island's roster, we decided to practice whatever we had. Thus, we had to practice military-style, to try and prepare for what could be next. They may be a good team, they could be mediocre. Who knew?

Thus, from 9 am to 1 pm, we practiced, taking breaks for stretches and running, but otherwise, we were focusing on a method to defeat the Northern Sunrise Islands. Any method, so we even got the reservists out. Gotta kick their asses after all. Finally, it was 1 pm. Now for lunch at the Gansevoort where the two teams plus bastards who chose to watch from elsewhere were at.

Thus, we had some pizza, crazy bread and garlic toast, eating them like no tomorrow. After that, we were ready for today's match...

The Preivans tasted defeat yesterday, down by only five points but still on the losing side against Darmen. It was not a good game, as the defence was not playing at its best.

Its next opponent must be kept a secret, but little is truly known about what the game will be like: win, or loss?

HWCIX WATCH: Heeeeeeeeeee's Baaaaaaaaaack!
Despite Poor Showing in UHL, Quila Once Again on Fast Track to Being Unolian MVP

BELZIA-- Well, the Second Best Handball Team in the WorldTM is back with a strong showing again, taking out unranked Belzia in an impressive bout, winning 29-23. The strongest athlete, of course, was young CR Aldrani Quila, who scored an impressive 15 points. This has prompted many analysts to say that his team in the Unolian Handball League-- the Frain Bulldogs (3-6)-- is the actual problem, not Quila himself. Quila (who, along with the rest of the National Team, are on leave from their teams for the competition), has already scored more than half of the goals in the HWC that he has scored in the current UHL Season (26 in nine games).

This has prompted many contract offers from "better" teams. The 8-1 Unolia Revolutionaries have supposedly offered Quila 90 Million Liras (180,000,000 USD) over five years to persuade him to join that particular club. He has yet to comment.

Meanwhile, as the Unolian Team returns home from their trip to Belzia to play a home game at 6 PM Unolian Time, we have received word that the Darnai Box (The home of the Unolia Revolutionaries and the Unolian Team during HWC 11) has completely sold out to a standing room only capacity for their first home game against #17 Darmen. This will be the first Unolian game against a ranked team after rankings were introduced following Handball World Cup 10. If home team advantage is a tangible thing, Darmen's National Team has their work cut out for them.

Lastly, Unolians are known for Pan-Esquarian pride in the Region's teams, so we have taken the courtesy to include a ticker featuring all of the Esquarian Teams in Handball World Cup 11. You can view Esquarian Games on The Firebrand Sports Network, The Free Unolian Sports Network and (when a UHL Game is not on) the Unolian Handball League Television Channel.

Hand Slaves' Match with Polar Islandstates Rescheduled To After Midnight
The Gregoryisgodistan Sports Federation in conjunction with the Handball World Cup Committee announced that the matchup with Polar Islandstates, which had been previously scheduled by the HWCC for 6 PM on November 5, has been rescheduled to 1:30 AM on November 6, to avoid a conflict with Creation Day, a holiday in Gregoryisgodistan where all citizens are required to spend 24 straight hours worshiping Lord Almighty Gregory.

Members of the Polar Islandstates delegation will be invited, but not required, to join in observance as well. However, they should note that all businesses in Gregoryisgodistan will be closed for the holiday starting at midnight tonight, so they should get their purchases made before then.

Immediately following the game, the Hand Slaves will fly to Free Republics for a game against Saintland (OOC: See my previous post on naming conventions for Saintland/Feministvs Sanctvsterra in the Gregoryisgodistan media) which will begin at 2 PM Gregoryisgodistan Standard Time on November 6. The Hand Slaves' flight is due in around noon our time, so they will have to go straight from the airport to the game.

As reported previously, liberation papers will be signed by Lord Almighty Gregory himself, officially but temporarily liberating the slaves on the team, before the plane enters Free Republican airspace. Following the departure of the return flight from Free Republican airspace, Lord Almighty Gregory will sign other papers returning the slaves to slavery. This is to thwart potential efforts by Free Republican authorities to tamper with Gregoryisgodistan law and permanently liberate the slaves.

Additionally, as a reminder, The Lord's Word will not publish a paper tomorrow, November 5, in observance of Creation Day. We will print as usual on November 6, though the paper may be delayed from its usual delivery time, as our journalists will not begin work until after midnight, and it may lack some normal features due to the rush.

So what clearly happened to the Gorillas last World Cup? Why was there a new team that entered in the Orean Olympics?

Carnival, Northern Sunrise Islands

It was three minutes to go in the third place match between Sangti and the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and the Gorillas were trailing 23-24. However, the team rallied, with goals from Mick Claveria and Wealthy Adonis giving Sangti the lead, 25-24, with one minute left on the clock.

Then, it was the Thunders' turn to try to overhaul the lead. Gwang Hoon Kim tried a jumpshot that was very sharp for the keeper, but it hit the post and Wealthy got the ball, he passed it to Mickhail and circled every defender he encountered, and he jumped to throw the ball into the goal protected by Wedgeworth Kim.

It went in. 26-24.

It was a good win by the Gorillas, still not knowing their fate, that their fates were sealed long ago.

Mardi, Northern Sunrise Islands

The chartered flight for the prisoners was ready to take off. What they did not know that when they took off, the pilots have already made their exit through the emergency door, and as no one noticed, Sarin gas engulfed the plane, intoxicating everyone in the flight, Their head coach was on a commercial flight, so he was well aware of the situation, and he did not tell any detail of it to the players.

The plane kept its altitude on autopilot, circling the Sangtian skies until it ran out of fuel, crashing into the sea at 30 km south of Leonde. No one survived the accident, and their bodies were yet to be found.

For the government, it was a mission accomplished, a successful execution, but to the Sangtian media and fans, it was a day for despair.

The HAS plans to hold a one minute of applause for their home match against Windport in the Arena Nacional Sangti. The New Gorillas destroyed last edition's hosts at their own turf, 32-22, courtesy of Theodore Luzorata III's 18 points, and will look to advance to the Round of 16 with a strong performance.

Gregoryisgodistan won today, 33-25, thanks in large part to 9 goals from Slave 00039HHS. Slave 12 appeared five minutes into the second half, but promptly tripped over his walker and fell to the ground, shattering his right leg. He will remain on the roster and may appear in a future game with the help of his walker and another walker. Unfortunately, it is too expensive to buy another slave to replace him.

Later today, Gregoryisgodistan will face Saintland (OOC: See my previous post) in Free Republics. The slaves on the roster have been temporarily liberated, and should be referred to as "Liberated Slave [government ID number]" for the duration of the game against Saintland. Following departure from Free Republican airspace, the slaves will be returned to slavery, but for now they are liberated. They will be kept under heavy armed guard to ensure they do not escape.

In other news, Creation Day was a huge success, and everyone worshiped Lord Almighty Gregory all day, to celebrate his glorious creation of the multiverse.

Costa de Ouro awaits now the bye day is over

Costa de Ouro, the current no. 1 team of the group, is the next obstacle to the Greenblues in the Handball World Cup. The first game against the Gulf Empire was not a lost cause, it showed that our players can actually do something out there. But there is always that one guy that loses by one measly point. 28-29, in this case. A shame that the team could not pick up a point, and with the bye day right after, the team had no chance to take revenge. Now they can, against arguably the worst possible opponent we could face at this time. But after this, at least we have played against the teams ranked first and second in our group.

The line up for tomorrow will be the same as the first line up. Xiaosi, Korotkov and Usatov will be up front, making the line-up extremely Vnoskjulung-ian. The two Russian speakers both play for a club in the East of the country, where Handball is popular. There is a team from their native Vnoskjulung State, but it never really ranks highly. Xiaosi is from Hogone State, the center of Ko-orenite handball, even though the best team from here is currently on a championship drought and left a few titles to teams from the bigger cities. Schildknecht, Yamazaki and Yamamura are in defense, and this is a decent representation of our domestic handball: Yamazaki, from Uzhotu State (very close to Hogone). Yamamura, from Hogone itself, and then Schildknecht, coming from one of the northernmost areas of the mainland: Jeknolr State. He has played here until recently, and then he switched to the team from southern Ko-oren City, where he qualifies for the international handball club championship regularly. In goal will still be Murray, one of the rare Anglophones playing for a team in Arelothun State.

Costa de Ouro has already proven to be a difficult opponent. First in the group, though not with extremely high scores, but still they have won two games so far. Sicoutimont and the Gulf Empire are on 1-0-1, and the two teams that have played only one game are both on zero points. Now if we win, and Uitbregen wins, we will most likely end up in a situation with one six-point team and four teams on three points.

Gregoryisgodistan Defeats Legitimate Saintland Team

Gregoryisgodistan defeated the only team to legitimately represent Saintland today, 33-25. This team, consisting of members from the activist organization Feministvs Sanctvsterra, played valiantly, going up 11-3, before the Hand Slaves came back. Liberated Slave 00039HHS (as he was known for the day) continued to play well, scoring 10 goals for the Hand Slaves.

There were no reported incidents from the Free Republican government against the liberated slaves, nor any attempts to defect. The Hand Slaves departed Free Republics about an hour after the game, and shortly after the plane left Free Republican airspace, Lord Almighty Gregory signed paperwork to move the liberated slaves back into slavery. The exploiting of loopholes in the Free Republics appears to have succeeded.

While in Free Republics, Lord Almighty Gregory met with leaders of Feministvs Sanctvsterra and called the talk "very productive." Preliminaries on an alliance to destroy the Church of Saintland were discussed, and more will be discussed when Feministvs Sanctvsterra's Saintland National Team visits Gregoryisgodistan next week.

Additionally, Lord Almighty Gregory announced that he will be awarding Feministvs Sanctvsterra the Gregoryisgodistan National Medal of Honor for their work in overthrowing the Church of Saintland. This award has only been given to seven people or groups since its establishment in February 2011, and never to a foreigner. (OOC: New Year's Day in Gregoryisgodistan is in June, not January, so this is February 2010 on most Gregorian calendars.) Feministvs Sanctvsterra will be the eight person or group to receive it. Below is a list of award winners.

Soldier P9100AJ was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 23, 2011 for continuing to fight in the Gregoryisgodistan military despite losing a leg in a previous battle. He was given a prosthetic and continued to fight in wars for three years before winning the Medal of Honor. He finally retired from the military in July of 2013 after achieving rank of Military SuperGeneral and earning the right to his own name. He is now known as Military SuperGeneral Hugh Jorgiesh.

Author L0101AGSG won the award on June 3, 2012 and was, as Feministvs Sanctvsterra might be happy to note, the first female winner, in honor of the 30th anniversary of her 1981 novel "Wheat of Greg" covering the hard life that wheat farmers had in Gregoryisgodistan. Although a work of fiction, it was based on real farmers, and ultimately led to Lord Almighty Gregory inventing new technology for them to use (OOC: He imported it from other countries and said he invented it to free them, which everyone believes.)

Worship Leader of the 11th District Arnold Uehara won the award on January 11, 2012, in honor of his retirement at the age of 93 after 67 years as worship leader of the 11th District, making him the longest-tenured worship leader in the history of the nation.

Sports Minister Larry Pitchers won the award on May 30, 2012, in honor of him founding the Gregoryisgodistan Sports Ministry and working hard to establish several sports teams, which would begin competing soon.

The Gregoryisgodistan National Baseball Team Is the first group winner, winning on August 30, 2013, in honor of their victory at the International Baseball Slam, the first sporting competition in the history of Gregoryisgodistan.

Air Force SuperPilot Pareto Gonzalez and Air Force SuperPilot Eliza Henricks are the last two winners, and the only separate individuals to be awarded the prize at the same time. They received the ward on October 30, 2013. They are counted as two different winners. Air Force SuperPilot Eliza Henricks is also the second woman to win the award. Air Force SuperPilot Pareto Gonzalez won the award for his work dropping solar powered bombs on Saintland after the attempted assassination of Lord Almighty Gregory, killing 10 million Sanctii (OOC: this is all propaganda and only one person was killed, ironically from Feministvs Sanctvsterra) as revenge for Sister Maria Polus' role in the assassination attempt. Air Force SuperPilot Eliza Henricks won the award for her solar powered bomb dropping on Free Republics, killing five million there as retaliation for Free Republcian soccer captain Kyle Bolton's role in the assassination attempt. (OOC: more propaganda, only five people were killed. Also, there was no assassination attempt. It was staged)

Lord Almighty Gregory said of giving the award to Feministvs Sanctvsterra, "This group is very dedicated to destroying the wicked Church of Saintland. This is a cause to be greatly commended. So far they have managed to disrupt many Sanctii events, and I wish them luck and even more power in the future as they continue to destroy that wicked false Church. I will be officially awarding the medal to their leaders when they travel to this country next week."

EL DIARIO DEPORTIVO DEL SANGTI - HANDBALL - HANDBALL WORLD CUP

Three out of three
Gorillas top Group 1, faces Luziyca on matchday 5
by Jon-jon Lanzuela

The Sangti Gorillas beat The Ultimate Evil, 33-29 to retain their supremacy at the top of Group 1 of the Group Phase of the Handball World Cup XI. Theodore Luzorata III seemed to carry his momentum from the Orean Olympics, scoring 52 of Sangti's 94 goals to date.

The circle runner from Baoyam idolized Mickhail Claveria during his commercial league days, playing for the Iscrachi Night Hawks at the Sangti Commercial Handball League. He grieved when he found out the Claveria died in an accident going back to Sangti. Other players also performed well for the team, in which if these performances continue, they will look to cement a spot in the knockout rounds.

The team will take a breather before hosting Luziyca in the fifth matchday. Luziyca has yet to win a game after draws to Northern Sunrise Islands and Windport, but will entertain The Ultimate Evil at their next game, which they are expected to win.

We are sure it is the schedule that makes us look bad

After three rounds (and two matches), Ko-oren is last in Group 8. After games against the Gulf Empire (now 4th) and Costa de Ouro, the Greenblues have only one draw that gave them any points. And the draw was against Costa de Ouro, the team that is first in the group. And then you see that that team has won everything but one game... against us. Parity, all teams being equally good/bad, seems to have nothing to do with this. Maybe it is just the spur of the moment. If one team has players that have a good day, they could win. Anyhow, Ko-oren is last in the group now. If they had scored three more goals, they could have been second on 6 points (in two matches). It is just too close to be funny at this point: a one-goal loss against the Gulf Empire and a draw against Costa de Ouro. Anyhow, all teams that we have played so far were first or second at the time. Which makes the schedule the one that makes us look bad.

Sicoutimont and Uitbregen still wait for us. Their teams have one win and one loss so far. Uitbregen has a goal difference of 0, Sicoutimont has a goal difference even worse than us (even though they are in second place). Looking at the three match days, these were the margins:

MD1: 4 points & 1 point
MD2: 3 points & 2 points
MD3: 2 points & 0 points.

The largest victory was one by 4 points. I'll let that sink in for a moment. And now on to Uitbregen.
