In Kolo Lahi, there are a few primary interests for tourists. The first of these is the water sports, which are conducted on a series of beaches to the southeast of the city. Nearly anything that strikes your fancy can be had there: scuba, snorkel, water ski, surfing, you name it, there's some outfitter that has it. Since this chain of beaches is at the end of a bay, the conditions are nearly always perfect for whatever you want to do. The second main interest is the food. Kolo Lahi is home to the best Polynesian cuisine in AO, with dozens of restaurants serving everything from the most casual breadfruit with guava to the most upscale and trendy Vaian fusion dishes. This style of cuisine is the next step in Maklohi Vai's culinary tradition, and at the forefront is Polo's Kitchen. Serving Vaian fusion cuisine since 1994, Polo's Kitchen is the mastermind of chef Polo Shukawa-Mutarakanai. His half Vaian, quarter Japanese, quarter Portuguese background gives him a wide variety of cuisines and cultures to draw from. Polo's is already a hit in Maklohi Vai, winning fusion restaurant of the year 5 years running. It currently has its hub location in Kolo Lahi and an expansion branch in Andossa Se Mitrin Vega. The third main interest is the museums and cultural sites. When the Maklohi Vai's population isn't watching sports, they maintain a deep interest in their cultural background. To facilitate this, there are a number of museums, largely in Kolo Lahi, that deal not only with Maklohi Vai's history (http://www.nationstates.net/nation=maklohi_vai/detail=factbook/id=30404), but also that of other Pacific Island nations. Together, the museums have won several international awards, largely due to the depth of their information and their accessibility to the common man. If you prefer a more outdoor cultural experience, a good place to look is Point Mua (25 minutes west of center city), the first point spotted by the ancestral seafarers who founded the nation. It is largely accessible to visitors, except for the tip, which remains a place sacred to many Vaians.
"For the glory of our people, we govern our nation freely. For the glory of Polynesia, we help and strengthen our friends. For the glory of the earth, we do not destroy what it has bestowed upon us."

It had everything you could ask for. And by "everything you could ask for," is meant, "a one-game playoff in the northeast and the Mustangs' rivals changing their names." Except, the Mustangs' rivals haven't actually changed their names yet, because this time around they're going to be taking part in the BCCC first. Because they won their division. Yes.

Since we're cutting to the chase, in a sense, to the northeast. Like last season, the Aurora had to endure a game 109. Unlike last season, they won. This time against the Rainmakers, in a local grudge match, while previous leaders the Red-Tails were respectably off the pace. As for Zwischen, uh, well, these days they save the high expectations for the football team.

Everyone was close out west, too, and we mean that in the worst possible way. The Tigers were three games under .500, and the best of a mediocre bunch--they had to edge out their local rivals for second. Actually, by those standards, the FTC had nothing in the way of competitive balance, with the Monkeys out on top and the Mustangs losing by several lengths.

In the southeast, the Grey Socks and Dragons remained underwhelming, but the Panthers displaced the Dolphins on top. Eileen Janvier is just glad she doesn't have to deal with crazy "linking book" theories any longer. (There is no credence to the rumors of strange helicopters and unusual five-sided buildings popping up over Inver, by the way, where the Millers narrowly avoided a last-place finish. But one suspects that, if Hans Bollogle doesn't return to the Zebras, it might have as much to do with his own changing priorities as it does their mediocrity.)

So, to the playoffs. A chance of a finals catfight was avoided when the Monkeys defeated the Tigers in five games. And it should have been avoided in the ninth inning of game three, with the surging Aurora on the verge of sweeping the Panthers. But they couldn't put them away, Padraig Cendle climbed the wall to seize a critical would-be insurance run, the Tigers came back, and won it in the tenth. Game four, while not requiring any free baseball, saw even more blown opportunities for Arlington, and the Tigers won it convincingly in game five.

The momentum ended there, though. Clubhouse leader Charlie Skriand enjoyed a rejuvenation (not...literally or through drugs or anything, it just worked out), Ndidi McGronoss kept batters guessing (while the paper across the river tried to go on about how calling your team the Monkeys really isn't that appropriate). Well, they got what they wanted in the end--the Monkeys swept, and having worn out the name, will change it after the BCCC. Suggestion box is open now. No further puns about linking books or symbolic 135-degree angles or anything. Bollogle, this means you.

I swear, any resemblances to real-life events are completely coincidental. That wasn't planned in the slightest.

Northeast Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Vender Mountaineers 162 87 0 75 666 640 +26 261
2 Saxet Cowboys 162 86 0 76 688 650 +38 258
3 Kornsas City Peasants 162 77 0 85 662 701 -39 231
4 Fort Martin Minutemen 162 74 0 88 629 657 -28 222
5 Sinsinatti Reds 162 68 0 94 663 743 -80 204

Northwest Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Seaddle Mariners 162 95 0 67 750 613 +137 285
2 Bashtun Bloody Sox 162 94 0 68 741 648 +93 282
3 Portland Admirals 162 80 0 82 742 732 +10 240
4 Rechavij Islanders 162 76 0 86 629 682 -53 228
5 Glascow Heiffers 162 63 0 99 612 762 -150 189

Southeast Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 San Dineighgo Madres 162 97 0 65 781 609 +172 291
2 Fillydelphia Fillies 162 86 0 76 718 642 +76 258
3 Neighpon Tigers 162 82 0 80 710 734 -24 246
4 Moscolt Huskies 162 74 0 88 630 714 -84 222
5 Fatlanta Cardiacs 162 58 0 104 595 790 -195 174

Southwest Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Illineigh Ursas 162 96 0 66 788 658 +130 288
2 Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 162 93 0 69 739 657 +82 279
3 Detrot Foundries 162 86 0 76 692 595 +97 258
4 Indianeighpolis Colts 162 84 0 78 713 725 -12 252
5 Norleans Delta 162 64 0 98 618 814 -196 192

In a SHOCK TWIST, the Fillies haven't won their division! In a rather mediocre season for the BCCC 3-peaters, they finished a full eleven games behind an inspired Madres squad. In the Southwest, four teams finished above .500--rather impressive, the most surprising being the Colts managing a winning record despite a negative run differential.

Oh, and we suppose Swashbucklers beating the Foundries is big, too, but it's never taken much to win the Southwest.

Up north, the Bloody Sox seem to have righted ship after their blip under .500 the past two seasons, but still couldn't muster enough to dislodge the Mariners from the NW title. A bit further east, the Minutemen were the only established team to take a dive, finishing below even the Peasants. The Mountaineers and Cowboys topping the division wasn't any sort of surprise. How will all of this play out in the Fall Classic? Let's see...

SDS (Southern Division Series)
San Dineigho Madres 3, Illineigh Ursas 4 [Illineigh Ursas leads series 1-0]
Illineigh Ursas 6, San Dineigho Madres 1 [Illineigh Ursas leads series 2-0]

Fillydelphia Fillies 11, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 5 [Fillydelphia Fillies leads series 1-0]
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 6, Fillydelphia Fillies 5 [series tied 1-1]
Fillydelphia Fillies 5, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 8 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 2-1]

NDS (Northern Division Series)
Vender Mountaineers 8, Seaddle Mariners 7 (F/10) [Vender Mountaineers leads series 1-0]
Seaddle Mariners 4, Vender Mountaineers 2 [series tied 1-1]
Vender Mountaineers 6, Seaddle Mariners 2 [Vender Mountaineers leads series 2-1]

Saxet Cowboys 3, Bashtun Bloody Sox 4 (F/10) [Bashtun Bloody Sox leads series 1-0]
Bashtun Bloody Sox 9, Saxet Cowboys 5 [Bashtun Bloody Sox leads series 2-0]

SCS (Southern Championship Series)
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 2, Illineigh Ursas 3 [Illineigh Ursas leads series 1-0]
Illineigh Ursas 4, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 12 [series tied 1-1]
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 4, Illineigh Ursas 3 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 2-1]
Illineigh Ursas 4, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 3 [series tied 2-2]
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 6, Illineigh Ursas 5 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 3-2]

NCS (Northern Championship Series)
Bashtun Bloody Sox 9, Vender Mountaineers 7 [Bashtun Bloody Sox leads series 1-0]
Vender Mountaineers 4, Bashtun Bloody Sox 6 [Bashtun Bloody Sox leads series 2-0]
Bashtun Bloody Sox 3, Vender Mountaineers 9 [Bashtun Bloody Sox leads series 2-1]
Vender Mountaineers 7, Bashtun Bloody Sox 5 [series tied 2-2]
Bashtun Bloody Sox 6, Vender Mountaineers 7 [Vender Mountaineers leads series 3-2]

The Fall Classic
Vender Mountaineers 4, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 5 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 1-0]
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 9, Vender Mountaineers 4 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 2-0]
Vender Mountaineers 1, Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 4 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 3-0]
Ponyburgh Swashbucklers 4, Vender Mountaineers 2 [Ponyburgh Swashbucklers leads series 4-0]

...wat. In a truly shocking turn of events, the Swashbucklers have dethroned the old shockers in an utter sweep of the Mountaineers. And on the way, eliminated the BCCC three-time champions from qualifying for the next BCCC; an unceremonious way to be dumped out of a streak. But even without the Fillies, or the old guard of the Bloody Sox and Cowboys, our BCCC contingent this year stacks up well. While the sudden success of the Swashbucklers may seem suspect (and some may say fleeting), we have a solid base with the Mountaineers, Madres, and Ursas.

BCCC Qualifiers:
1. Ponyburgh Swashbucklers (Fall Classic Winners)
2. Vender Mountaineers (Fall Classic Runners-up)
3. San Dineighgo Madres (Regular Season Best Record)
4. Illineigh Ursas (Regular Season Second-Best Record)

I'm cutting off right now. Based on how my internet does over the next few days, I should have results up by Friday, and coefficients somewhere before next BCCC (and hopefully already this weekend).

EDIT (20-Sep): Couldn't make it today. I will probably get to this after the weekend, with a small chance that this will have to wait an entire week. Sorry everyone!

The Fifteenth Baseball Club Champions Cup

Round 5
Ile-Perrot Epee (SCM) 4–2 Lowanaki Anchormen (MKV) (IPE 1-0 LA)
Lowanaki Anchormen (MKV) 2–0 Ile-Perrot Epee (SCM) (IPE 1-1 LA)

Congratulations to Ile-Perrot Epee on winning the Fifteenth Baseball Club Champions' Cup! They dethroned the Fillies and beat the Anchormen after a difficult season that saw Epee advanced 2-1 in every round. The Anchormen had the fans behind them, playing in their native Kolo Lahi Stadium, but it did not matter in the end.

BCCC 16 entry details:
Every league is allowed to send four teams, multiassociational leagues (as of yet there are none) are allowed to send up to six teams, of which a maximum of four teams may be from the same league.
The deadline for the 16th BCCC will be 6-Nov-2013.

Host bids will follow the same criteria as last season: entry must at least have a stadium name, capacity, and city. The Finals venue will be determined via a knockout vote style. Last place stadium in the round is dropped out, and at any time a stadium gets more than half of the votes, all voting ends and that stadium is determined to be the host. If no host bids are received, the Finals will take place at the National Stadium in Sraltlur, Ko-oren. This also opens the host bid for the final of the 16th BCCC: you may submit your host bid along with your entry details, the deadline of which will also be 9-Nov-2013

New sponsors may contact the AIBC to be the main sponsor for the BCCC from the 16th edition up to the 20th edition. In case the AIBC receives more than one bid, the same procedure as in the host bid selection will be applied.

Kolo Lahi Stadium has hosted, among other events, the finals of World Baseball Classic 27, the 15th BCCC, and the Maklohi Vai Baseball Tournament.

Sponsorship Bid for the BCCC

Image

The Shipbuilder’s Association of Point Mua is the largest shipbuilding and drydock conglomerate in Maklohi Vai. Originally founded in 1893 as one of Kamanakai Oa’a Pani’s economic revival measures after the Samoan War, the SAPM has grown from an 8 man operation and one location to a confederation of shipbuilders across the country. It functions as both a company and a worker’s organization, as there are shops that are owned and controlled directly by SAPM and shops that are franchised out to various people across the country. United together, SAPM has made the “Drydock Lobby” a major force in Vaian politics as well, securing major rights for the industry as well as ocean rights in general. It derives its income from its control of the industry, and is forever looking to get its name out as a premier force for whatever ship contract needs to be fulfilled. The export business is limited to nearby nations at the moment, but the SAPM hopes that by gaining publicity through the sponsorship of the BCCC, that export business will grow rapidly and thrive.

“Welcome to Eastridge Park for game five of this championship series, between the visiting FTC Mustangs and your Nuel Panthers! It's all tied up at two games apiece, but the momentum has not been going our way. Here with more is Gina Fermi. Gina?”

“Thanks, Dan. After beating the Red-Tails in four games, of course, we had an extra rest day while the Mustangs needed all five to edge out the Worms in, with respect, a weaker semifinal. And it first, it seemed to matter; we were able to get off to a great start out west, edging out game one in the pitcher's duel, and then blowing out game two. But home field advantage has not been kind for us either, with that crushing game three loss and then yesterday's game. Sloppy defense from our guys, and that's what we need to change if we're going to stand a chance tonight...the winner today will take a one-game lead back to the FTC.”

“Indeed they will, Gina. It's a beautiful night in the valley. Stay with us...”

“...The pitch from Strinka. Steidmott lifts it into left field, Derigi drifting back and—she'll make the catch! But they're sending Flin-Gancer, the relay from Scordato is...not in time. Hartmut Flin-Gancer scores the first run of the game, and the Mustangs take the lead 1-0.”

“A disappointing start there for Strinka, he'd been distracted with those pickoffs, yes Flin-Gancer slow so in that sense a surprise for them to risk running him this early, but you know what, it paid off. Strinka spent too much time mixing up pitches and shaking off Kottel, that'll do it, the catcher clearly disappointed at how that panned out. And can you blame him?”

“I can't, Jesse. But I'm sorry to interrupt you, because Gina Fermi wants to cut in.”

“Now? This is the only game on!”

“I know, but she says it's important.”

“Fine. Take it away, Gina.”

“Sorry, gentlemen. We're actually getting reports in from Zwischen that there's been a contagious disease rapidly infecting people across the country, if you remember those flu-like symptoms around the first of April or so, it could be a more virulent strain of that. As of now we advise fans to stay at home, don't take trains, and don't go out in public if you can help it. If you see anyone trying to bite you, please take evasive action.”

“Er...thanks, Gina? And those of us at the ballpark?”

“Down in the valley of Nuel I'd say you're as safe as anywhere. Please remain calm. The government is researching to find a cure, and interregional travel is prohibited, but who'd really want to visit Starways Congress anyway. More on that as it develops...”

“...Hamier winds, delivers, this is swung on and hit hard into right field! McRoy racing around first, he's heading for two! And Cendle will score standing up! It's a tie ballgame!”

“And just listen to this crowd go wild!”

“Is that wild cheering on their favorite team, Jesse? Or wild mobs succumbing to the might of undead hordes in the bleachers?”

“I'm going to guess the former, Dan! But here with more is Gina Fermi.”

“Thanks, guys. A policy change from Zwischen, immediately, the region will be open to visitors who confirm their identity—last time around, once a cure was developed it could pass over international borders so we're hoping the same works out in this case.”

“Has anybody wanted to come?”

“Not to my knowledge, but just leaving the option on the table.”

“And how's that cure progress going?”

“Slowly but surely, I'm optimistic. Unfortunately, the disease continues to spread in the meantime.”

“Gina, any truth to the rumors that Zwangzug has sent special scientific research teams to foreign regions, to combat the epidemic overseas?”

“Haven't heard that, Jesse. Now, whether there are other countries moving around, absolutely, and whether some of them lie within Zwangzug's sphere of influence...well, you know, what exactly is our sphere of influence, I've never been much for geography beyond the baseball diamond. So, perhaps that's what you're thinking of.”

“Thanks, Gina. Anything in Nuel?”

“Well, it's hard to tell. A few flu-like symptoms going around, admittedly, but it could just be the common cold or a bad case of playoff fever. Still, if you're listening on the radio, stay inside, keep an eye on your friends and family members and be ready to move in case of drastic changes. More and more train lines are shutting down to try and localize the threat.”

“All right. Well, it's all tied up here, we'll take it to the sixth...”

“...Both managers on the phone with the bullpen.”

“Is that the bullpen, do you think, Jesse, or might it be the outside world, desperately searching to learn who has or has not been overwhelmed by the ravenous zombies?”

“Can't quite see from this angle, Dan. Is it perhaps time for this date in baseball history?”

“It is not, Jesse, on account of time dilation makes everything screwy.”

“But it's almost October 31. I say, do you know why computer scientists confuse Halloween and Christmas?”

“No, because I'm not from bleeping 102d.”

“Because Oct 31 = Dec 25.”

“That's enough for now, Jesse. Oh here we go, Osdery's got a hold of one! Through the gap in left-center, here comes Cheson, and the Panthers take a 2-1 lead in this game!”

“Though it all seems a bit meaningless at a time like this.”

“On the contrary! I'd like to get this game wrapped up, so we don't have to take it into extra innings!”

“Do you think it's true, then, that we're safe here?”

“I don't know. Gina?”

“Thanks for asking, gentlemen. Unfortunately I have received word that the virus is spreading through the FTC now, yes both of them, so even with the research on the cure—and there've been some promising steps forward—it's still very contagious. The cure could take a while to disperse through the smaller towns.”

“Yes, but then surely the disease will have a hard time reaching them as well?”

“More to the point, Jesse, what about the visitors? They're not going to want to play, are they, with all their loved ones back home plagued by these, these zs! To say nothing of game six or seven...”

“Good point. I think there's a conference at home plate, now, both managers coming out to talk it over...”

What they speak of at home plate, the announcers can't here. Maybe it's the closed trains. Maybe it's the myriads of fans who have come out, who have nowhere else to go. Maybe it's the fact that the Panthers have never won a championship, that the Mustangs' have only come during the old days, that there's still everything to play for here. Maybe they speak of sizbermetrics. Of the inefficacy of sacrifice bunts. Of the faith that, nevertheless, there are things worth sacrificing for. That if they have to make a stand, they might as well do it in the valley, in the first-and-a-half generation city, among the spires.

Of the fact that the Panthers are winning, so if the Mustangs lose, well, it's clearly not the fault of their other concerns, they couldn't hold a lead before then.

And the game goes on. The fans begin to scream, and clap, and an inning later they are still screaming when they declare that they don't care if they never get back.

“It's the top of the ninth, and the Panthers are three outs away from taking a lead back to the FTC!”

“If there's an FTC to go back to.”

“Thanks for your sense of hope, Jesse.”

“Well thanks for yours, assuming they can win the thing, and all, that's very confident of you.”

“Right, then. Gina?”

“It's all eerily quiet here, sad to say. I'm informed that you should probably try and stay off popular social networking sites, to save bandwidth for foreign regions that need to coordinate their relief efforts. This means you, Jesse, no seeking out one-liners from pithy fans.”

“Right you are. And the FTC?”

“Well, it's sort of devolved into both sides blaming the other and refusing to communicate in the other notation, while the zombies run around the east side destroying things and sit around the west side lamenting the dearth of fine brains.”

“So...basically a normal day in the FTC, then.”

“Absolutely, guys. Back to you.”

“Thanks, Gina. The Mustangs are having a hard time solving Deben-Brove, here's another changeup that Kache takes, but it's just over the plate enough. Two and two the count.”

“Kache has been quiet in this series so far, bar that game three of course when the Mustangs were at their galloping best, but even yesterday not so much, of course that called third strike two innings ago ended their threat.”

“Indeed. This one'll be fouled away.”

“Let's pause for station identification!”

“Not now, Jesse.”

“Yes, now. This is WPIM, AM 1000 in Nuel, still a completely human-run organization.”

“Well, I'm not sure about some of our bosses.”

“Well, you know what I mean. No zombies here.”

“The pitch from Deben-Brove. Kache will lift this one—it's going back—to the wall—and it's gone! We have a tie ballgame!”

“And it really just makes you appreciate human ingenuity and the power of projectile motion, doesn't it?”

“Absolutely. And as crushing as this is for the Panthers, you just have to feel for the Mustangs right now, with all that emotion—the uncertainty of what's happening back home, to have met it with this sort of offense. What a hit for Tamaya Kache, that is inspirational. They're mobbing her at home plate...”

“Mobbing her, or trying to bite each other in a feeding frenzy?”

“Going to guess the former, Jesse, but nothing's certain in baseball, as we've just seen. Don't go anywhere, folks, not just because it's not safe, but because we have a tie ballgame on our hands. And on our minds.”

“If not our brainsss...”

“...Past midnight here, another day closer to Halloween per se. Or Hallowmas Eve. Or Reformation Day.”

“Or please-not-with-the-shooting-of-the-Composite-Minister, c'mon, guys, day. Please tell me nobody else has tried to take a shot at him...Gina?”

“Er, no such luck I'm afraid, it's been a bit busy with the infection and all, disgruntled citizens will try and have their way...but everyone's still alive and well that we know of.”

“Well, people die every day, it's a fact of life. Old age, getting lost in the wilderness, zebra maulings...”

“Yes, but nothing too exotic.”

“Zebra maulings are pretty strange.”

“Well, it's been a strange game by any measure—after neither team scored in the tenth, it's onto the bottom of the eleventh, but the Panthers have something going. Runner on second and one away, it'll be Denny Emperas who steps up here to try and win it for the Panthers.”

“It's a great crowd here, no one's gone home, although that might have more to do with the trains shutting down.”

“Fair point, Jesse. The pitch from McKeidmore, taken for a ball.”

“Both teams still have a couple more arms left in their pen, but options on the bench are running thin. After the blowouts in games two and three, the bullpens are probably tired.”

“And this one will be...hit softly into right-center, Sanpaddes is rounding third. They'll send him, but the throw from Kitano is in time—”

Safe!”

“Out! Kitano nailed him!”

“He's safe—third base umpire, Berta Kosky, made the call!”

“But that's impossible...”

“They're talking it over, look at the replay.”

“Huh. Riblin-Vanza at third didn't have a play to make on Sanpaddes, but look at her in the baseline...I think she's been turned, I think she was trying to bite him!”

“Yeah, the coaches are dragging her off, she doesn't look well. Sanpaddes seems to be okay, the Panthers are surrounding him, but I don't understand...”

“Obstruction!”

“What?”

“They made the right call, defensive obstruction! If you're attempting to bite someone and turn them into a zombie, you're hindering their advancement! Kosky saw it, made the right call, it's a walkoff! Panthers win!”

“Oh, come on. I can believe a zombie apocalypse, that's perfectly normal, but you can't expect me to believe a game in the championship series would end on an obstruction call...!”

“Baseball's a strange game, Jesse. That's all from us—your final score Panthers 3, Mustangs 2, in eleven innings. Thanks for listening, and stay safe. Good night.”

“Wait, hold on. Any word from Gina? How're things in the FTC?”

“I'm happy to say there's been a big step forward over there, actually! Real progress!”

“Oh, thank goodness! The Mustangs will at least have that consolation.”

“Well...no.”

No? What do you mean?”

“Well, you see, these zombies, or zeds, a nice initialism there, they have a place in popular culture...”

“Oh no...”

“Even if we're all cured, I doubt they'll leave the collective consciousness. A day like this is worth commemorating and, well, the Mustangs?”

“Yeah.”

“Their cross-district rivals have changed their nickname, again.”

The cure was found while the region was in lockdown, and disseminated throughout Zwangzug. Two days later, game six went on as scheduled, and a 2-1 victory gave the Panthers their first ever championship.

Acedonian Baseball Federation - Season 3

Pre-Season Projections

1.Bees
2.Knights
3.Falcons
4.Green Sox
5.Raptors
6.Bulls
7.Storks
8.Tigers

This offseason, the Knights were the big spenders after a surprisingly competitive season last year. Meanwhile, the Bees came into financial trouble after several of their owner's investments were nationalized by a socialist government. He was forced to sell off several key players, but the Bees remain favored to repeat as champions. Going into the season, the "Big 3" were on virtually identical odds. The Green Sox were another buyer this offseason. The overachieving Green Sox purchased the reigning league MVP's contract from the Bees and have built a team that appears almost certain to take the final BCCC berth. The other half of the league appears to have somewhat weakened, so the BCCC was considered a foregone conclusion as the season began.

Acedonian Baseball Federation - Mid-Season Standings
Pld W L RF RA RD Win %
1 Bees 77 48 29 366 286 +80 0.623
2 Green Sox 77 47 30 368 295 +73 0.610
3 Knights 77 45 32 361 300 +61 0.584
4 Falcons 77 41 36 340 336 +4 0.532
5 Storks 77 36 41 327 362 −35 0.468
6 Raptors 77 35 42 312 323 −11 0.455
7 Bulls 77 28 49 320 411 −91 0.364
8 Tigers 77 28 49 268 349 −81 0.364

At the midseason point, the Green Sox were surprisingly just a game behind the Bees, but otherwise things seemed to be going largely as expected. Surprisingly, everybody seemed to be roughly equal offensively except for the Tigers. The main difference between teams seemed to be the strength of their pitching. The prolific Falcon offense was just 4th in the league in runs, due to a number of injuries to critical players. As the second half began, the Storks and Raptors still hoped to steal a BCCC berth while the now "Big 4" all hoped that they could win the pennant.

Acedonian Baseball Federation - Final Standings
Pld W L RF RA RD Win %
1 Falcons 154 92 62 730 628 +102 0.597
2 Bees 154 91 63 744 613 +131 0.591
3 Knights 154 87 67 700 619 +81 0.565
4 Green Sox 154 82 72 703 647 +56 0.532
5 Raptors 154 79 75 668 649 +19 0.513
6 Storks 154 68 86 622 705 −83 0.442
7 Tigers 154 59 95 574 706 −132 0.383
8 Bulls 154 58 96 607 781 −174 0.377

The second half saw a remarkable comeback for the Falcons. While the Bees had led almost coast-to-coast, the Falcons got healthy in the second half and would finally pass the Bees on the 147th day of the season. It would all come down to the final day of the season, when both the Falcons and Bees lost. When the Knights closer struck out the last Bee at 23:49, the Falcons were finally, some 8 hours after they had finished being shut out 7-0 by the Storks, able to celebrate. The Falcons had now won their second championship in the closest pennant chase in ABF history. The fading Green Sox would hold off a charge from the Raptors, clinching a BCCC berth with just 6 days remaining in the season. The Falcons finished the season with 51 wins in their final 77 and now they were champions once again.

Season 13

Qualifiers:
Lava Bearers
Golden Generals
Charging Hounds
Silver Admirals

Absolutely no surprises from 'boring' season 13. The difference between the 10th team and the 1st team in either conference was pretty small, regardless. It is still not that any team could beat any other, but let us say that the lower teams can finally hope to beat a potential playoff team. From next season, team names will include the team's location as well. Some teams such as the Lava Bearers have had their objections: Lava Bearers already sounds like a team, and the location is not needed at all. It is unclear what the Golden Generals and the Silver Admirals will do: the 'Silvers'? Or just Generals and Admirals?
