Procedural Notes

* The Trophy of Champions have 24 entries from 12 leagues (1 multi-associational), and the Falcon Plate have the same number. We're honoured to welcome five debuting nations and eight returning participants. Amongst the fourty-eight participants, twelve teams partaked in the IUBC VI. Both champions, the Boston Celtics in the Trophy of Champions and BC Balta in the Falcon Plate are not returning.

* The hostbids of Red Star Union and Windport have been moved to the Falcon Plate due to the failure of either nation to specify which competition the stadium will be bidding to host. This means that the The Pandemonium Center in Las Cruces, Texacano will host the Trophy of Champions final series.

* For the Falcon Plate, we received three hostbids. These were for the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, Texacano; Unnamed Stadion in Red Star Union; the Star SuperCenter in Windport. The decision upon the hosting stadium was made by a committee of IUBC officials, who are being paid scandalously large sums just to push a simple button. The result of their decisions...

This means that the Falcon Plate final will be hosted in the Star SuperCenter in Windport.

The champions of all leagues will be entered in the group stage of the Trophy of Champions, while the remaining 12 teams will undergo a play-in rounds. The second entry of the top four leagues (Texacano, NSI, Allinlia, Sangti) will face the winner of the eight other teams for four spots in the group stages.

The format of the group and latter stages did not change. There is still a double round-robin tournament in four groups with the top-two qualifying for the best-of-five quarterfinals.

Congratulations to Broncos de Chihuahua of Texacano, after losing the finals of the previous IUBC to the Boston Celtics of NSI, they managed to beat Somlhus Sharks of Buyan in six games.

Nations can send entrants into the Trophy of Champions and the Falcon Plate for the Eighth IUBC Season, which will be the third in its current format. The tentative deadline for submission of entries is on 29 November 2013, at 1300H UTC.

However, host bidding may not start yet, as we will discuss things regarding IUBC with Buyan, after which some updates or changes in the competition will be made a week after this. We will update the nations on when host bids can be submitted.

Three teams changed their names, and two teams were added to the league in Season VIII. The Knights somewhat recaptured their good play from the first several seasons of the DBF, but in the end, the newly renamed Phoenix were just way too strong for anyone to even challenge for the Championship. The Phoenix lost their only game of the season on Matchday Seven against the Wolves, with the final score being 77-64 in favor of the home team.

INTERNATIONAL UNION OF BASKETBALL CLUBS

Cutoff for the eighth IUBC cycle, the third in its current format, shall be on Thursday, 20 February 2013, 0300H UTC. This means that associations that are yet to submit domestic basketball results and entrants for the Trophy of Champions (ToC) and the Falcon Plate (FP) have nine and a half days to do so.

A friendly reminder that only a maximum of four teams per association (two for the ToC and two for the FP) shall be accepted. Multiassociational leagues shall have a maximum of six teams (three for the ToC and three for the FP), with no more than four teams (two for the ToC and two for the FP) per association involved.

As of now, no bids for final venues for both competition are submitted. Should that be the case at cutoff, the default venues will be Kommunalen Sportpladsen at Somlhus, Buyan for the ToC and Arena Nacional, Sangti, The Royal Barangay for the FP.

Procedural Notes

• The entries of New Koln and Marouan have been rejected, as the nations violated a rule involving puppet entries (which is written in the IUBC guidelines), as New Koln failed to declare Marouan as a puppet entry prior to a mod announcement here. This, along with his troubled history in NS Sports prompted the organizers to ban New koln and his puppets to enter teams in the IUBC indefinitely.
• Sangti (SGT) has been renamed The Royal Barangay (TRB), retaining its coefficient points.
• The entries of NexxusDrako were rejected, as the original nation ceased to exist, and the reformed nation failed to submit entries in time.

Notes

• Since no valid host bids were submitted, the final series of the Trophy of Champions will be staged at Kommunalen Sportpladsen at Somlhus, Buyan.
• Twenty entries from eleven associations were entered for the competition, and all the first seeded teams plus the second seeded teams from Texacano (TXC) and Darmen (DAR) will automatically qualify for the group stage. The other teams will play in a one-off play-in game at the home arena of the seeded team.
