For fun, and because I am a bit lazy in the event I do win, I decided to make a draft of my opening act for WV29. Here it is, but it is a little raw. :P

More like five. :P

But really, Kofeiya is not really all that rich, let alone modern. After all, Kofeiya is a mix of Liberia and South Africa (but without the coup).

KINGFORDIAN ENTRY ANNOUNCEMENT: VELVET TO REPRESENT KINGSLEY BEDFORD

Image

Velvet: (from left) Anders, Erik, Linnéa and Kristian

KBBS decided to continue with Internal Selection to find the Kingfordian Entry for WorldVision 29 after securing good results in the last few contests. An open call for entries to be sent in to broadcaster KBBS for consideration was launched and over 200 entries were recieved. The selection panel consisting of broadcaster officials and music experts judged all entries and eventually selected the band VELVET to represent Kingsley Bedford at WorldVision Song Contest 29.

VELVET are a band from the region of Nordholm in western Kingsley Bedford and are a up and coming act recently signed to one of the leading record labels in the country. Velvet consists of friends Anders, Erik, Kristian and Linnéa. They have performed together for several years and are regular performers at various outdoor music festivals. The band is very excited to have been chosen to represent KB and sees this as a great opportunity to share their music with the rest of the world.

The song they will sing at WorldVision is titled "Shattered Glass" and has been described as rather different to any entry KB has sent before. Lead singer Linnéa describes the song as "Powerful, energetic and mysterious and very much a reflection of the band's unique musical style". Armed with a intense percussion melody, "Shattered Glass" is the song which Kingfordians hope will bring them victory at the upcoming contest.

Well, why not?

The logo

Here is the Bloodbathian bid for Worldvision 29. The theme, visual design and, most importantly, host city were chosen in an online poll, with Meseország coming out as the winning city. The theme for this edition is "Adventure is Out There." Adventure could be traveling to exotic new places, or just starting a conversation with someone. There's so much to see, hear and do in this world; we just have to go on an adventure to find it.

Image
Arbola Bridge, Old District

Welcome to Meseország! A city of 1.4 million people, what it lacks in population it makes up for in culture. Split by the Korica River, two islands form the main part of the city. Each island has a unique vibe; as seen on this map, the left island, Idős, is the historical part of the island, with museums, old churches, cobblestone streets and the old Port. The right island, Felkelő, is the cultural heart of the city, and the more modern in terms of shopping, the arts and the residents; half of Felkelő's residents are ages 18-35. Most of the contest will be concentrated on this island, however, with an extensive rail system and over 30 bridges connecting the two sides, getting from one area to the other is a breeze. Speaking of breeze, the city is known for being very windy, with gusts normally 10-15mph on a regular day, but tempratures are generally mild, and during Worldvision are expected to be 20-25ºC (68-88ºF). With great weather and a great city to boot, why not enjoy yourself a little?

Image
Boys and Girls Camp of Meseország

It's the dog days of summer in Meseország, and why not make use of what you have left? This time of year, many residents head to the lakeside resorts, camps and lodges to soak in the rays before winter comes in. Drive a short way down Highway 66B to the TerraVillas, a huge complex of seperated treehouses built into the forest, which can be seen from the air in all its beauty, or seek serenity along Cotter Pass, a stretch of land reserved for hiking, biking and exploring. But you don't need to pay to have fun; grab an ice-cream cone from a vendor in Downtown, jump off a tire swing into a crystal blue lake, or pull out a chair and chill out with your favorite songs and a glass of lemonade. However you want to spend your last few days in the summer sun, make it count! Only 365 more days until next summer, right?

Image
Ballet Dancer, Academy of Dance BGEN

Meseország is a city rich in the arts, especially dance. The national dance of the country, the lehcloni, was first made and performed here in 1864. Similar to Irish step-dancing, it is a major symbol of the area, like Hollywood to California or the Rockettes to New York City. The National Hall of Dance is situated here as well, and is the center of all dance-related events in the nation. Along with the cities dance tradition, it has recently opened its doors to concerts and international music, with the Haja Radi Arena selling out shows almost monthly at its peak. Many clubs, bars and lounges showcase the newest local talent, and for thespians, the Meseország Fringe Festival is an annual theatre, cinema and, in a unique twist, culinary and musical event, where the edgy and innovative meet for one week (this year, right around Worldvision time!) and captivate minds alike. With this rich pool of arts to choose from, why not pick one from the pallet and go on an adventure?

Image
Hiker on State Oak Hill

One major part of the city, and region as a whole, is the outdoors. Outside Meseország, rolling hills and small mountain ranges dot the landscape. Residents are encouraged to go out and hike, camp, bike or do other outdoor activities in these hills and mountains at least twice a year, and children are regularly taught outside, learning about science, nature and impotant outdoor and survival skills at an early age. Hiking in particular is very popular, along with mountain climbing and boating on the lakes and rivers. Over 3000 km. of hiking trails are in a 30-minute ride from the center of Meseország, so why not get away from the hustle and bustle for a little?

Image
Ubest Campground, Bredar

This edition, there will be no official "Worldvision hotel", due to the lack of a large (500+ bedroom) hotel in the city. Instead, contestants and their delegations will be staying at a home of a local resident, each country in a different house/building. The resident(s) will show them around the city, providing a fresh perspective on their surroundings and a unique experience of international unity and friendship along the way. Visitors to the city are encouraged to stay in the many campgrounds within 15 minutes of the city center, and over 100 bed-and breakfasts, hostels and boutique hotels are available with over 38,000 rooms between them. Several state-of-the-art spas and saunas, including ancient natural hot springs and innovative modern spas, are close -by for a little relaxation.

Image
ROGA Arena

Welcome to the venue of Worldvision 29, the 30,000-seat ROGA Arena! Built in 2011, it's an innovator in eco-friendly building. Receiver of the Platinum NCEEPA (the nations LEED equivalent), it has the latest in green technology, from 100% recycled building material to organic markets inside, the arena has set the bar for other stadiums and sport halls to help use their status as a symbol of the area into a model for how beauty, sustainability and other factors can combine in a single building. ROGA Arena has a retractable roof, which can be opened and closed for performances if needed. As said before, 35,000 spectators can watch from the floor (room for 8,000) and the stands (a total of 22,000 in 3 sections.) Slightly smaller compared to Worldvision standards, organizers have promised to "make the most out of what we have". This year, the green room will be on top of the arena itself. A path leading from the street level will rise up over 150 feet in the air to the top of the venue. Here, contestants, fans and residents alike can mingle, take a rest, have a drink or simply walk around the rooftop garden.

Image
Stage; first used at the Bloodbathian NF

Here is the official stage for Worldvision 29. Based on a stereo's equalizer bars, 20 different-sized pieces make up the stage itself. They can be used as props (only 4 pieces cannot be moved, taken out or altered otherwise.) and can be used for screens and light/pyrotechnic effects. The middle piece is the longest, and the only one to span the entire arena floor, end to end unlike most runways. The relatively small size of the arena means the audience can get closer to the performer than ever before, and both the viewer at home and in the arena gets an intimate vibe from the setting. In the artist rendering, 5 people are shown, but each side (North, which is seen in blue, and South, in red) can fit up to 15 people. Any specific details can be sent to Bloodbath Generation.

Image
Media Facade at the National Science Museum, Meseország

Fans will experience Worldvision like never before. On the banks of the Korica, several buildings, all at least 200 ft. tall or higher, will project the show live on the side of the building, as seen above. This idea was first tested for the domestic crowds at last years edition, and over 60,000 Bloodbathians came to watch. If you can't make it to these "live facades", screens will be placed in several large plazas and other meeting areas for crowds to watch the show. Don't like the crowds? Go into a local bar or pub and the show is sure to be on. For a whole night, the city will be transformed into a Worldvision hub. People from all over the world have come here, and are sure to welcome you into the celebrations.

Image
Scene from a beloved Bloodbathian story, "Antoni The Moon Chaser"

The show's over, they all took a bow, the confetti dusted off the stage. It was a great night for all who were involved, whether they performed, watched live in the arena or in their home. But what have you gained from this? We believe Worldvision is more than just a night of music; it's a chance to bring the world together under one common theme, no flashy lights or big shows needed either. Well now, go on, adventure is out there!

Many thanks,
The Bloodbathian Tourism and International Image Department
Simi Guwepulu, Mayor of Meseország
The Citizens of Meseország
Bloodbath Generation Broadcasting Corporation (BGBC)
Wolff Stores, Inc.

Edit: fixed alignments, added/took out details. This is now the final version.

*me moves expectations to 3rd place*

So, do you think that being modernistic is the only viable way to win the host bids?

Kal... I guess I'll vote for version three. Version one feels a little empty, and I agree on the fact version two has a stronger beat than version dthree.... But the real climax of the song isn't in Juliana Pasha's vocal improvisation towards the ene... The climax is on the awesome violin parts that replace the old-fashioned over-used arcade sound of the other versions (well, at least, imo). :D

So yeah... VERSION THREE!

Yeah, because I've been seeing a lot of futuristic or modernistic bids win lately. So in a way, I sent Kofeiya onto the host bid because I wanted to see how an upper-middle income country who has to trim a few things here and there can stand a chance in winning.

I think it isn't, really.....

It is never how the product is. It's how you sell it :p
(Ergo... It's easier to sell something modernistic. But that doesn't mean, ALL bids need to be futuristic)

WV29 ENTRY DECIDED BY CLOSE VOTE

After heated discussion and the throwing of the occasional lobster shell, the Sterblichengokai committee has determined Tödlichebujoku's entry for WV29 is "Break Your Neck", a lyric-heavy dance tune performed by Kaja K.

So, that means Tamar Shayehen will represent Kishrael with her song "Ancient Medina" sung in both English and Arabic.
