Ponies Looking for Win Against Vaporeons in Critical Fixture

PONYVILLE - Following a decisive Equestrian victory over an extremely unprepared Colombian Britannia squad, the Ponies will attempt to hurdle the biggest obstacle in the way of a third-consecutive World Cup finals appearance: the Vaporeons of Northern Sunrise Islands.

Originally, the top two seeds in Group 12 were scheduled to meet on the fourth match day, but a last-minute change of the fixtures (for reasons still unknown) saw the clash between the well-known teams moved up a couple weeks. So here we are now, with less than 24 hours separating us from the start of a match that could make or break either team's qualifying campaign. For the Equestrian States, the match presents an invaluable opportunity to establish a five point lead over Group 12's only other top 100 squad. The Sunrisians in contrast, come to Ponyville still recovering from a stunning draw against 304th-ranked Alkoul. For the Vaporeons, defeat would be a disaster, setting them far behind the group-leading Ponies in a qualifying campaign where every last point carries significant weight. A win for Northern Sunrise Islands, however, would put them just ahead of the Equestrians and could quickly make them the favorites to qualify from Group 12.

Though a draw would hardly be a bad result for the Ponies, Head Coach Twilight Striker has publicly stated her intention to play to win. "I don't think that a tie would exactly help us here," the unicorn manager said at a recent press conference, "We still have eight matches to play after the next one, and anything can happen. I'm not going to risk our chances of qualifying by not putting our best players forward in a match that very well could play a huge role in any tiebreaker a couple months from now. Gone are the days when the Equestrian States aims for anything less than three points in a match."

Few would doubt the Equestrian States have what it takes to win against Northern Sunrise Islands. In a recent friendly played prior to the qualifying draw, the Ponies cruised to a confident 6-3 victory, albeit with neither fielding anything resembling their current first team save for a few players from the Equestrian States. But the pre-qualifying friendly isn't the reason many analysts would predict three points for the Ponies, rather they would point to the near total lack of motivation or determination shown by the Sunrisians in their opener against Alkoul. Against the Equestrian States, such a lack of energy would be exploited left and right. If the Vaporeons put forward anything less than 100%, the result will be far worse than a 1-1 draw.

As for me, I expect Northern Sunrise Islands will show up eager to rebound from a disappointing first match, and will give the Ponies a good run for their money. However, in front of the usually fantastic crowd in Ponyville, I can't see the Equestrians losing. A draw is a definite possibility, depending on whether or not High Soarin' is at the top of his game, but the depth of the Ponies' at midfield and in the attacking third could overcome even a shaky outing by the Equestrians' aging goalkeeper. Steve McNotapony's Prediction: Image Equestrian States 3, Image Northern Sunrise Islands 2

What do you do when simple victories no longer bring you joy, when what you set out to do becomes not enough when the day comes to an end? Qualifying has always been a chore, a task that needed to be completed in order to get to the place where we desired to be. It has never been something that has been meant to be enjoyed, to be looked at with glee once you've reached the upper echelons of the footballing community. It is simply a task, a phase that has to be completed, and one that becomes monotonous at times.

I know in my heart and in my mind that I should not think of it as such a way, especially given how excited that some of these players and nations get at the prospect of a qualifying upset. My own dissatisfaction over the task before me does not mean that it is not important, it does not cheapen the results that cause a whirlwind around the sporting world, it does invalidate the jubilation that nations like Iwanawin get when they topple one of the giants of the game like Vilita. Yet at the very same time, I can not simply ignore the way I feel and the feeling of the mood of not only my teammates but of others squads there in the upper reaches of the international ranking system.

What then do you do to reconcile that monotony with what you know you need to do as a professional athlete? I will never not attempt to give it all in every match that I take part in for club or country, but there are times that even I have to vent the frustration I feel. It's not that I feel like the national team is entitled to simply skip through qualifying itself, that would be both unfair and quite logistically a problem. It becomes a personal battle to reach the reconciliation, to fight the way through the monotony to do what is required of you. Setting simple goals through each day, game, or even half is one way to do so but even that will become a chore rather than a fulfilling desire at some point.

All that said, while there is no satisfaction in these qualifying victories per se, there is in seeing the fans out supporting the squad, my teammates new and old enjoying their football, and the roar of the crowd whenever the ball finds it way into the back of the net. it is the moments that come through the game that I get a sense of satisfaction, of joy, of fulfillment at being the captain of the national side rather than the matches themselves. I know what works for me does not work for everyone, we are all individuals and require different things from life, from the instances we find ourselves in. Perhaps that is a key itself.

OOC: I really need to make more of an effort to get in RP time for this nation, apologies.

Friendlies Review
by Karol Ruvek, Ostrava Times

We turn our attention first to the Prime Minister's Cup, the friendly competition between ourselves and Welsh Cowboy. Ultimately, the national squad lost out, but there were a couple good matches along the way.

The first was contested in Gustavsbørg, with the home side's offense coming out roaring and ready to dominate. Side to side movement created issues for the Welsh Cowboy defense, and they were unable to gain much of a possession advantage. This allowed a setup for Edvin Astøberg, who boomed home a strike in the 18th minute, energizing the crowd and turning the momentum even more in favor of the home squad. Astøberg just missed out on a penalty kick five minutes later, but that was to be the last home opportunity for the first half. Welsh Cowboy converted in the 37th minute with a strike by Matthew Guval, a leading scorer for the squad, coming from close range. The second half was completely on the visiting team's side, as they got many more shots off on goal and were able to control the tempo of the game. Thanks to our defense, however, no more goals were to be had.

The second match of the cup went to Humdeia, Welsh Cowboy, with both teams tense for a victory. Welsh Cowboy was able to strike early, with a Guval strike at 5 and a Calabana tap in not 15 minutes past that. William Čalrek was able to decrease the deficit in a fast paced game by taking his time getting into position on a corner, scoring midway into the half. However, this was the sole spot of hope for the visitors, as Welsh Cowoby was able to easily contain them for the duration of nearly the rest of the half, with the lone exception being an Astøberg PK close to the end. After the clock started back up, Alec Vordeau struck for the home team on a rebound shot, giving them a 3-2 lead. But, after over 50 minutes of high speed play, both teams were ready to take a break, playing cautiously for the next 20 or so minutes. At that point, however, perhaps the home side had been too cautious. Elias Ruzïck ran in behind the defense for a header at point blank range, surprising himself as much as anyone else with the outcome in the 71st minute. However, that was to be the last opportunity for victory, as Lucas Burns won it for the home team with a brilliant goal as the clock pushed even lower. The visitors were unable to respond, giving Welsh Cowboy the inaugural trophy.

World Cup Qualifications: We Start Off The Campaign With A Draw.
By: Steven Smith

So Felix starts off the 66th World Cup Qualifiers with a draw not with New Sideburn, but instead with New Sideburn's former colony, Brenecia. The match was played at home in Felix in the historic Estadio Nacional in Santa Maria. The crowd there though was very light due to the fact not many people were expecting the home match. In fact, the national team had been in New Sideburn two hours before the match against Brenecia actually started. The team had to rush back to Santa Maria in order to play. Oddly enough the Brenecian team was already there warming up and getting ready. How they knew about the schedule will forever puzzle me, but they were there. Anyways the final result was a 2-2 draw, which isn't exactly how you want to start a "first place to qualify" World Cup Qualifying campaign, but it was better than a loss. Now lets recap the match against Brenecia, yes?

The first half was mainly Felixian controlled due to the dominating, aggressive, and quick playing style. Soon enough a shot by Simo Roni went pass the Felix Carrick's hands and into the net. The fans that were in the stadium (39,727 thousand to be exact) cheered and celebrated the 1-0 lead Felix had in the 9th minute. Simo Roni did a little routine as he always does in the Equestrian States for his club team, Stalliongrad HC. After that the game carried on.. From the 10th minute till the 31st minute not a single goal was scored although the dominant Felixian side made some nice shots near the net. Mikel Araboa, Sebastian Krister, Simo Roni and Yun Dong Lee all made those shots with Krister's being the most closest to making a goal in the 27th minute. But in the 32nd minute Mikel Araboa scored the second goal of the match with a well placed shot from outside the box, Carrick didn't stand a chance against that shot. The half ended in a 2-0 lead over the away team.

The second half though seemed to be whole new game as the consistency issues started to spike up again. Instead of the dominant, quick and smart play we saw from the Felixians in the first half, we saw a slowed and at times silly play from the team. For example a pass by Ji Iseul Kwan was intercepted, even though the pass was direct and somewhat fast. So why was it intercepted? Because #12, Manuele Provenza, wasn't paying attention. It seemed like the whole team was out of sync. And it showed when Brenecia scored against a defensively pitiful Felix team in the 57th minute with a well placed shot by Spitfire. The problems continued as Brenecia started to get more possession and overpowered the dysfunctional Felixian national team. That dominance resulted in the game tying goal in the 83rd minute with a goal by Twining. 2-2 and the fans on the Felixian side were silent. Felix attempted to get back to lead from the away team but it was too little, too late. The match ended, 2-2.

In the post game conference Daniel Cardona seemed very frustrated and he was. The first question from the press was about how he felt about the second half he responded with a somewhat bitter comment, "It was terrible and I am so frustrated that this happened. Why can't this team just preform well all the time? Why do they have to struggle in the second half?" No one answered. The next question was about the next game in which they would face a much easier team, Cardona said this, "At this point, there are no easy teams." And he left for the locker rooms. Felix will face off against Omarios and it is an expected win. Go Felix.

Qualifications Start With Draw

By Lisho Yaru

Kandorese Team fires away with 2 - 2 draw, a very good match with loads of beautiful, yet missed chances. The Kandorese national team looks in shape and ready to improve throughout their qualification rounds.

The most surprising fact about the Kandorese team is the return of Head Coach Xíanji, who is the first coach in the history of Kandorith to return as a coach after failing to qualify for the World Cup. His last record with the national team has been amazing according to critics and fans, thus his returning was hailed with many cheers. The coach promised the fans to change little and work on the Kandorese discipline within the team even more, while aiming to play a possession game when possible.

With lots of returning names on the roster for the team and the same uniform for the players, the team shows they are finally a constant appearing team. The consistency, somewhat doubted in the past as the team changed from coach to coach, Xíanji seems to bring stability to the Kandorese Football Association. The hope for the team is to qualify naturally, and to see their team play at their best. Xíanji has promised the people in Kandorith an "Exceptional in form team" and again, said nothing about his training schedule.

The World Cup Qualifiers have started and the Kandorese team is looking in shape, the next weeks will show what the team is made off.

ANOTHER ERRORIST ATTACK

Alan Belmores strike again as qualification schedule scrambled once again

Errorists have the entirety of civilization under the gun once again, as Alan Belmores once again hijacked the printing presses of a World Cup host to scramble the published match schedule in a truly egregious act of errorism. This is the second time in three World Cups that errorists have damaged or destroyed the pre-tournament match schedules. Both attacks were levied against co-hosts who participated in the World Cup 10 war on Errorism, proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that these attacks came from The Belmore Family, whose reign of error threatened every World Cup participant a mere 224 years ago.

"They hate us for our civilization," said Naomi Barker, an analyst at the Center for Kinetic Diplomacy. "We must start the bombings as quickly as possible." Ronald Rodin, the director of the Institute of Politics by other Means, agreed with her. "Who knows how many Alan Belmores are wandering about, menacing people the world over with disorganization and poor language."

Other solutions have been proposed. The Coalition of Eccentric Billionaires have announced the establishment of the NMS Center For Alan Belmores Who Can't Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too, hoping to "reach out to the errorists and try to fold them in to modern society, instead of ostracizing them."

The error attack did not have much of an impact on the NMS, or the Paladins. The Ministry of Morale and new head coach Israel Klimt were prepared for the error strike - especially after making the exact same mistake being hit by errorists eight years ago. told the hastily assembled press that he had confounded the Errorists by not reading a copy of the schedule. "I knew damn well that counterattacking would work, even when I didn't know who it would be working against. We had five chances and we converted them all, what more could any side want? It's the best way of finding out who's worthy of a spot in the finals."

A nation named Taijan eventually showed up at the Paladin Dome seventy-two hours later, and lost 5-1. The Taijan players declined to be named, stating that they hoped to someday live down their nation's crushing defeat during their first-ever international match.

OOC: Casually terrible RP, no time etc.

Apox Handed Automatic Win Again

And so the great qualifying confusion begun, with a classic mix up by the hosts regarding who was meant to be playing where. For us, it seemed as if all our matches had been pushed forwards in the schedule, with us facing the completely unknown Above Your Pay Grade. Luckily, we were playing at home under the old and the new schedule, therefore meaning that no hurrying around furiously would be required.

However, the same can't be said for our opponents. Having heard nothing from them prior to the match, the AFB was sceptical for say the least about whether they would arrive or not, thus prompting another Penileagum situation as happened last time. And surprise, surprise, no one turned up to play our national team, even after a solid day of waiting.

This time we knew what to do, and Miriam Whittaker, head of the AFB, duly reported to NSWC the situation, whereupon it was deemed that Apox would win 1-0 by default. Again, another classic shambles by the opposing team to start our qualifying campaign for a second cycle in a row. I only hope Mapletish arrives for their match in a couple of weeks time. Hrmph.

OOC: Above Your Pay Grade have made only one post on the forums, signing up for the BoF and WC. As they have no roster, and haven't been online since August, I'll do as I please RPing them. :)

Torgos Tribune ~ Home Cooking

If there was a question if the Wanderers could translate their hosting success into a successful qualification run this cycle, then they have answered quite convincingly to start the campaign. With a thorough six to two victory to start off the campaign, the Wanderers look like they are already clicking on almost all cylinders, though playing in front of the home crowd did make the task all that much simpler. The six goals scored are a Wanderer record though and a treat to all of the ninety thousand who made it out to the national stadium last night in the capital.

Þórdís Gunnarsdóttir was able to net a first half hat trick, notching goals in the eigth, twenty-first, and thirtith minutes, with Løver Storås adding a forth a minute before the half time break. With a four to one advantage through one half, the Wanderers moved to a more possession style game in the second half, playing keep away for most of the second half. However Ivett and Žák were both able to find the net during the half to push the goal tally to six. The only disappointment of the evening came with the injury time goal that the squad conceded on a counter, to grant their opposition the second right before the ref blew the final whistle. While it is still early in the campaign, that goal conceded could be a big issue later on in the campaign if the scenario for goal difference comes into play.

Aidé Hernádez is no doubt proud of her charges superb start to the campaign, even if the schedule makers had the wrong information on who the squad was going to play in their opening match. Officials site miscommunication in the e-mails with the World Cup Committee Headquarters for the misunderstanding over the schedule. However given that the offices are in the Polar Islandstates, this reporter believes that it was the Polarians trying to pull a fast one on us as their regional rivals in hopes that the lack of scouting footage and tactical preparation would spring the upset. That was never going to be with the way that the squad was pumped up or how the entire supporter base turned out in the regalia of the home squad. The Stade de Torgos was a sea of gold, green, scarlet, a sight that was beautiful to behold.

However the difficulty ratchets up in the upcoming match, with the Atalantian Oceania giants of Milchama make their way to Torgos. A repeat performance from the crowd will be needed just to give the Wanderers that edge they will need to see the challenge off. With only seven spots between their respective ranks, they are the obcvious opposition to take the qualification spot from the group. For the Wanderers to continue this path of elevation in the footballing community, they simply can not allow that failure to occur. The defense will need to tighten up and not let up as they did during their first match with that sloppy second goal they conceded, with the offense pulling off the same combinations that allowed for the record breaking scoring streak. A win will do wonders in boosting the confidence and belief of the squad that they are indeed on ascendency.

Postby Welsh Cowboy » Wed Sep 18, 2013 1:27 pm

Ian was confused. So, apparently Welsh Cowboy hadn't played that team with the ponies, oh, what was their name, Equestrian States? Instead, because the stupid World Cup hosts had somehow, by some act of sheer idiocy released the incorrect schedule for the World Cup. So instead, the Roaring Dragons had been on the road, still, but this time playing a team ranked somewhere around 100, Iturributa. Ian remembered them from the Baptism of Fire, because they had separated from Astograth of course.

He'd dutifully turned on the television several hours ago, ready to see sapient ponies taking the field against the Dragons, with their white away kits and multicolored boots, all ready for battle against the strange, grotesque enemies. And then... He saw what? NORMAL HUMANS!!! What was this? He'd bought extra snacks, just so he could enjoy watching the ponies warm up and do their pony thing. And now, he had to watch just another football squad run around, doing their odd stretches, and their inane passing drills (he hated doing those when he played down at the field), seemingly endless until the referee mercifully began the game. So, in a midst of confusion and downright shock, Ian had watched the match.

The match hadn't started well for the underdog Roaring Dragons. Their passes looked weak, and overall, the Baptism of Fire champions looked intimidated by Old City Stadium and the overall atmosphere of the World Cup qualifiers. No longer were the Dragons facing fellow untested, unranked foes, this time they were facing a tough top-100 or top-110 opponent, with strong ties to major international leagues such as the Astograthian, Licentian, and its own powerful domestic league structure.

Ian almost threw the television out the window when, after just 6 minutes had elapsed, Altzibar Salutregi, the 31-year old Iturributan right winger, managed to cut past at least four Welsh Cowboy midfielders and defenders, leaving him with an open path to goal at the edge of the box. It was only through a weak dribbler to the feet of William Jackson in goal that the score remained level.

"A weak play, there by the Welsh Cowboy defense," said one of the commentators, whose names Ian never could remember.

"Obviously," said Ian, disgusted at such an inane and pointless remark.

His disgust only grew as the first half went on. In the 13th minute, Salutregi again made a fantastic move, this time to the right corner flag, where he placed an almost perfect cross into the middle of the box, leaving Jackson indecisive and the Dragons' back four scrambling to save face and clear. Forward Urtatz Gaubeka and Jean Bapun went up for it, and luckily, Gaubeka was unable to turn the header onto frame, leaving Welsh Cowboy with a mere goal kick, a welcome relief to the players as well as the fans.

Iturributa continued the onslaught, sending attack after attack at the Welsh Cowboy lines, and time and time again, the Roaring Dragons couldn't produce the effort or quality necessary to clear the football from the darn back, as Ian termed it in his head. The poor defending and continued mediocre clearances finally bit Welsh Cowboy in the 20th minute, when forward Gaubeka, with the ball seemingly attached with a string to his foot, took a long pass at the left side of the box, cut back, took two touches, and blasted a blazing shot into the lower right corner, so well placed that Jackson's effort looked almost comical on the replays. It was 1-0 Iturributa, and everyone at the stadium, including the small contingent, only 700 or so, of Welsh Cowboy fans who had made the unexpected trek, seemed to think the game would only get worse. They were right, to a certain extent.

Despite George Pingrell's best urgings from the coaches' box on the side of the pitch, WC continued to struggle to string together passes and keep the ball in their possession. Time after time, Lucas Burns or Anders Kleppner (why he was starting over Patrick Teller was anyone's guess) would fail to get the ball even to the wingers or Alec Vordeau, who seemed to be growing more and more disgruntled as the horrendous half wore on, much different than the Iturributan players, who sensed blood in the water, and went in for the kill. Their passes were crisp, and although several good chances were wasted, they added to the scoresheet in the 34th minute, as a Zeledon Urralburu corner found the head of Arabante Kelay from 7 yards out, who put the ball just inches under the crossbar, leaving William Jackson furious at his defense, and as Ian noted, at the men on the posts, who had nothing to do with the goal being scored, it seemed.

With the score 2-0, both teams headed to the locker room, and Ian went to the bathroom, to relieve himself and prepare himself for another poor half. He returned to the living room and found that the TV cameras were trained on the empty pitch. One of the sections of the stadium, about halfway between the halfway line and the right 18-yard box and close to field level, was in full panic mode, as people scattered, some even drifting onto the playing surface, although security quickly closed around them. Ian was incredibly confused for the second time today, until he turned up the volume.

"It seems, fans, that a spectator has fallen from an upper level onto the lower levels, the levels next to the field. We're unsure what exactly is happening, but it seems there's a large group of paramedics and doctors surrounding him. We obviously wish him or her the best, and out of respect for them and to make sure we don't show any gruesome injuries, we're keeping our cameras trained on the pitch. And right now, we're going to the boys back in the studio in Humdeia for the halftime report."

That spoiled the mood, and Ian couldn't eat another piece of cheese and cracker, nor could he watch the halftime report. He wasn't sure why, but that fan really struck a chord with him; after all, sports were for enjoyment, not something where you expected to entertain death and fall off a level of a stadium...

He was thankful for the match's return. The commentators reported that the fan had been taken to a local hospital, that there was no word on his or her condition, and that both teams and the referees had agreed to resume play. Although the thought of a person who had come to enjoy fun and excitement in the end facing such peril troubled Ian, he pushed it out of his mind, and watched the game.

The match was much the same. Iturributa again dominated, controlling possession and capitalizing on mistake after mistake by the seemingly hapless Roaring Dragons. Ian was considering turning off the television and going for a jog, already looking away from the screen to figure out where his keys were when a great shout of excitement from the commentators drew him back in. Could it be? The score was 2-1! How had the team scored? Surely it wasn't some beautiful, clinical finish?

Alas, it was not. Instead, it was a lucky goal, even in the eyes of Ian, a loyal Dragon supporter. The replays, which were begun almost instantly, for perhaps the entire nation of Welsh Cowboy had been ready to go for a jog and missed the goal, showed that Welsh Cowboy had earned only their second shot on goal of the match, a relatively pathetic effort from Lucas Burns 24 yards out. The ball seemed to float lazily towards the keeper, but evidently he had trouble, for he at the last instant, batted the ball over the bar for a corner. That's when the trouble for the home side began. Thomas Kramer hurried to take the kick, and the ball swung in to the near post, where it somehow hit the face of Elatzar Lakoste, an Iturributan center back, clipped the underside of the crossbar and deflected in. Jean Bapun, whom Lakoste had been guarding, immediately decided to claim it was his goal, although his effort on the play was in fact poor, and it was only through sheer good fortune that Welsh Cowboy was within one.

Perhaps, Ian thought, this can spark the boys. They must feel inspired, like there's a divine being ensuring they have a chance to hold on in this match. But again, his expectations were not fulfilled. The Roaring Dragons seemed to withdraw into even more of a shell than they had previously, keeping 9 men behind the ball at almost all times. As the minutes dragged by, there was 70 gone, then 80, then 85, it seemed that this team was content to lose 2-1 against an admittedly well-known opponent.

George Pingrell kept Patrick Teller, the 19-year old who had 2 goals in only 7 appearances for the squad, on the bench, for reasons unbeknownst to anyone, at least until the 82nd minute, when a late report came in that in fact he'd twisted his ankle and would be out for at least one game. Another dagger for Welsh Cowboy supporters. The goal might have been fortuitous, but lightning doesn't strike twice, does it?

It was ironic that in the 87th minute, the commentators somberly announced that a 23-year old woman had died at the hospital from injuries sustained during a fell from one level of the ground. Ian couldn't believe how tragedy could strike at such an event. Why? Why did this happen to a young woman with plenty of life still to live, plenty of experiences to have, plenty of future matches to attend, plenty of breaths left. The pondering hurt his brain, and he decided he needed some coffee. So he got up, but once again, he was drawn back to the screen. For there, in the back of the Iturributan net, was the ball. 2-2, and the game was all square.

The replays, again flashed onto the screen quickly, showed left winger Sergio Calabana and Vordeau combining to send Calabana into the box horizontally, with a wide-open Matthew Guval in the middle. It seemed such an easy pass that Calabana hesitated, and almost conceded the ball to keeper Agoztar Ilarduya, who had charged off his line in an admirable but apparently futile effort. Calabana jerked, aware of the oncoming keeper, flipped the ball over his diving body, and then had a simple, open finish from three yards to tie the match. Again, it seemed as if something divine was guiding the Dragons, for this was their first legitimate chance at a goal.

Ian was happy. His team had earned a quality point against a quality opponent at that opponent's pitch. Surely that was cause for celebration, that despite playing easily their worst match ever, they earned a point?

But he couldn't shake the thought of that woman.

No. A mere girl.

Following Callumackbar's 2-1 victory in Svengarda, fans were asked their opinion on the game:

A smiling fan with a Callumackbar was interviewed as he left the stadium.

"It's a good win." He answered, still smiling.

"It's our debut World Cup campaign, so I'll be satisfied as long as we put in a few good performances.

A home fan was asked too, if a deflated manner he simply stated. "Disappointed."

Online, a fan known as 'MUFC#20#4EVA' posted: "Callumackbar are sh*t. No MUFC players. Club over country. This win doesn't even count as Callumackbar are terrible. They were lucky."

Finally, Striker Jesus Salazar, whose brace won the game for the Admirals.

"Onwards and upwards!" He roared, turning to give a high-five to a fan.

"I want to play at a World Cup for Callumackbar in my career. And the fans want to see us play at a World Cup. I promise you, fans, I will do all I can to fulfil our dreams."

Other results in Group 30 and our expert's opinion:
Farfadillis 4–1 Szkvara A good result for Farfadillis. I predicted a victory for the home team but not by this margin. We will have to see whether Szkvara will be able to bounce back from this.
Kandorith 2–2 Kinzar An entertaining game, though I did think Kandorith could've nicked this. A point's a decent start to the campaign for both teams, lets see if they are able to build on it.

The post-game press conference...

The lights shone down in the press room of the Quazoxian stadium. Karl Rheinhardt had just gotten off the pitch after the States' 2-0 loss.

"Well, everybody, welcome, coach Rheinhardt, thanks for being here. Thanks to everybody for showing up. First question."

Coach Rheinhardt took a sip of his water, dreading what questions the press would throw at him.

"Coach, what was your overall outlook on the results of this match?"

He tried not to give the most facetious and sarcastic answer he could muster. Instead he took another swig of his water, cleared his throat, and spoke:

"Well, I think its obvious. Its not the way we wanted to start off at all. This year with the new format, every game in qualifying counts, and we really went out there and just blew our chances when we had them. Of course, congrats to Quazox, the win was much deserving. They put in their chances when they had them."

"Coach, do you think that the scheduling change messed you guys up?"

"Well, obviously it did cause some scrambling at the last minute and confusion all around, but I don't think we can blame it. I mean, Quazox had the same thing happen to them, and it didn't mess them up. We can only be responsible for what we did on the pitch tonight, and that was not our best, and it was not the best our team can do."

"Coach, were you disappointing with the group draw?"

"Well, I think the manager of any developing team like us would be a bit disappointing when he saw that half of our opponents are ranked in the top 100. Obviously, we can't change it, so we have to look at these like they are just challenges for us, and challenges we have to overcome."

"Are you in favor of the new format?"

"I think we'll have to see."

With that, he walked off the stage.

Week Two

My time out on the blades started yesterday, and I am aching all over. It's not that we have to physically exert ourselves as the giant blades are winched into place, it's more the waiting. Hanging there in your harness for what seems like hours whilst you wait for the legs of the Hoyhusoy to readjust and find a better purchase on the seabed, then waiting for even longer as the slivers of white arc through the sky towards you. You start to feel it in your legs, after a while.

All I have to do is sit and wait for the blade to come over, and then to guide it gently into place, applying the locking bolts and rivets as we go around. I work with Johan. It's easy enough, and soon I'll learn how to hook the blades up internally and calibrate the new turbines to the control centre thirteen miles away. All the cable's been laid already, it's just a case of hooking up the battery, as it were.

You do tend to get an unusual view of the world from up there, mind. The sun, pale and weak, lay off towards the horizon on my left, the east, and the sea lay before me like a carpet. Everchanging in colour with the wind, the hues went from blue right through to aquamarine and touched with white at their foamy, angry peaks. The needles of the turbine array stretched out towards Solovetsky in the south, the island not even visible on a clear day from where we were, even up on one of the turbines.

And the wind, oh the wind. We like to think of ourselves as a hardy bunch, we Valhallans, but even you'd be challenged by two hours sitting up at that height in those winds. Barely enough to raise a shiver on deck, up there they chilled me to the bone. It's not hard to see why this place is being used for an array.

The wind was low enough for us to go out yesterday, but too high today. Moses' game isn't on until later, so I thought I'd wander down to the mess hall for a bit of socialising beforehand. No such luck. In the one corner sat the sailors, the crew of the Hoyhusoy itself. Talking amongst themselves and not looking over at us, they had their own injokes and stories to tell. A solid half of the grubby brown upholstered chairs were taken up by their distinctively uniformed cohorts.

In the other corner, shift two. My shift. Shift one were still out at work, finishing off the jobs they'd started before the wind got up, and shift three were presumably all still asleep. I attempting to work my way into the group with a nod of the head, and received only cold stares in response. I realised rather suddenly that I still had the Hoyhusoy t shirt on from my welcome pack. I went back to my room to change, but by the time I came back, the mess hall was empty again, and raised voices could be heard both from the decks outside, and the TV room down the hall, where the match was starting.

I wanted to see if Moses got on the pitch again, but I decided against the confrontation that possibly lay ahead, and instead went back to my quarters. I nodded at a ship'd chef on my way back and got a curse nod in return. The wind howled around the porthole, and I read my books. The Hoyhusoy can be a cold place.

Jesper.

"Hi! I'm Sportscaster KDI8238 with the Gregoryisgodistan News at 6. We have highlights now of the Foot Slaves' game with Shadowbourne in World Cup qualifying. Coming off a humiliating defeat, the team was back home at Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium. Police Agent Jorge Warlord was suspended four games for attacking a referee, so Chef 82718138 started instead. Other than that, the lineup was the same as the opener.

"We pick it up in the fourth minute, when Shadowbourne's forward pummels a header at goal, but Gruelmaker 28589A knocks it away. A second shot goes over the crossbar and it's still 0-0.

"7th minute now, Retired Soldier Commander Lieutenant Warlord McBurgerKing kicks it into the box, and Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Robert Possibe heads it just wide, ruining the first chance the Foot Slaves had.

"13th minute, it's a free kick for Gregoryisgodistan, and Soccer Jester FunnyMan294 takes it, it's on goal, but the keeper punches it over the bar. Still 0-0, but Gregoryisgodistan had a corner. Retired Soldier Commander Lieutenant Warlord McBurgerKing took the corner, and Death Row Inmate On Parole Until His Team Loses Inmate Number 91488 headed it past the goalkeeper. 1-0 FOOT SLAVES THEY HAVE THEIR FIRST LEAD OF THE TOURNAMENT!!!!!

"19th minute, and Death Row Inmate On Parole Until His Team Loses Inmate Number 91488 appears to score his second goal, but is whistled for offsides. Looking at the replay, it was the right call. So it's still 1-0.

"28th minute, and Shadowbourne has a chance but it's wide to the left, 1-0.

"38th minute, and Shadowbourne has another chance. Chef 82718138 has a weak clearance, and it's still alive, Gruelmaker 28589A dives, knocking it away, but it's still alive. But the shot went over the crossbar again, and it's still 1-0.

"First minute of first half stoppage, and Loyal Friend of Lord Almighty Gregory Robert Possibe shoots it over the bar, looking dejected after missing a chance to put his team up 2-0. So it was 1-0 heading into the half.

"51st minute, and Soccer Jester FunnyMan294 takes a free kick, and it winds up in the back of the net. 2-0 Foot Slaves. Jubilation on the field.

"68th minute, and Shadowbourne shoots, but the keeper saves it.

"81st minute, and Soccer Jester FunnyMan294 misses a chance to make it 3-0, sending it just wide with an empty net in front of him after a cheeky move past the keeper. He can't believe it.

"But Shadowbourne never got another chance. 2-0 the final.

"In other news, Lord Almighty Gregory is taking personal credit for destroying the idiot-filled nation of Costa Luna. He claims to have destroyed the idiots by dropping 300 solar-powered bombs, which the citizens then attempted to eat. This caused the bombs to go off, destroying the entire nation. However, the hit TV show 'Costa Lunians Say the Darndest Things' will continue anyway, in spite of us having destroyed the nation in a glorious victory. In fact, an all-new episode is coming up next. Watch, as Doybert attempts to visit Saintland, because he thinks it's called "Ain't Land" and concludes it must be water. So he heads out into the open water, then concludes he has reached Saintland. He talks to someone who he thinks is King Paulus, but is really a lighthouse. Hilarity ensues, NEXT!"
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

Estope went on the road to Fiendish Snackers for their second qualifying match. But the unfamiliar setting didn't seem to haze the high-powered Estopian offense. The crowd seemed to not be much of a factor as the Estope soccer team started strong and stayed in control for most of the game. Manager Emanuel Inzer was forced to sit out the match by the Estope Soccer Federation for his conduct in last match-day's win against Åsløtten-Bëðerbørg så Česky which resulted in his ejection. Eli Gishal took over for the game and did a fine job motivating the team and making adjustments throughout the game, well the first half at least. Estope scored first in just the 6th minute when Travis Barria tapped it in off a great pass by John Hardy. The midfield did a fabulous job of keeping possession and allowed Estope to keep the pressure high on Fiendish Snackers. Just ten minutes later, in the 16th minute, Alex Stark scored his second goal of the tournament to push the lead to two. Jacob Lawrence, who has absolutely shined thus far in the tournament, scored again just moments later to make Estope's lead grow to three. Everything was going right and Estope looked like a team with the ability to compete for the sole qualification spot. The offense didn't seem to miss a beat from last week's game and in fact looked even better so far. The defense didn't even have to do much because of the dominant midfield who keep possession away from Fiendish Snackers. At the half the score was 3-0 Estope and things appeared couldn't go any better. To start the second half a few substitutions were made. Luke Frits replaced Lawrence, DeAngelo Ulick replaced Ashton Pate at keeper, and Allan Vanish came on for Stark. Whatever motivated Gishal to take out Estope's top three players is still a question. As good as the first half went, the second half started that much bad. Without those three key players the team couldn't get anything going. Fiendish Snackers began to pressure the Estope defense and began to get off some shots. Finally they were able to score as Ulick obviously is not nearly as talented as Pate is at goal. He mistimed his dive and the ball flew over him for the goal. Without Stark the midfield couldn't hold on to the ball and they were able to keep the ball away from Estope's forwards. They struck again shortly before the final whistle in the 88th minute to bring the game within one goal. Luckily Estope was able to hold off their late surge and preserved the road victory. Estope is undefeated and in second place now with a huge upcoming game. Starblaydia, the group leader and traditional powerhouse, will be coming to Estope for a battle for first place. Both teams have looked good so far but Starblaydia has way more talent and has looked far more impressive. It will definitely be a tough match but luckily Inzer will be back on the sidelines and ready to go.

Chiata Sports Network

Frank- Hello everyone, I am Frank Zian and beside me is Jordy Upwalker.

Jordy- We are covering the 204th Chiata (0-0-1) at the Unranked Ilovebenderdotcomland (0-0-1).

Jordy- Boy that is a mouthful to say.

Frank- You've got that right. Right now the players are doing a pregame warm-up. Lets talk about these teams.

Jordy- Both Chiata and Ilove lost their first games. With Chiata loosing to Yesopalith and Ilove loosing to Darmen.

Frank- Both teams would want to come away with a win. Now for the predictions.

Frank- I think Chiata will win based on their rank. Their ranked 204th in the world while Ilove is unranked, meaning they are worse then 370.

Jordy- Instead of looking at ranks, I look at how they played in their last game. For that reason I am picking Ilove. They lost 4-2 while Chiata lost 2-0. I think that Ilove will be able to score more and win the game.

Frank- We will see who is right once the game is over.

Frank- By the way, I will do the play by play while Jordy will do the color commentating.

Jordy- I can a sure you it will be the most colorful commentating you will ever hear.

Frank- Jordy....... Anyway, Ilove is about to kick off. The Suns are in their usual 2-3-5.

Frank- Kick is up and Willis gets it. Does a kick pass to R.T. and he charges up the field.

Frank- He gets past the Mid-Fielders! Going towards the goal. Dances around some of the defenders.

Jordy- Some fancy footwork there.

Frank- Ilove Goal Keeper coming forward.

Frank- R.T. does a quick pass to Swade who hits it quick to an undefended net.

Jordy- GGOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

Frank- Goal by Sammy Swade, assist by the Assist Man, Joe Ringer-Toso.........

40' Minute

Jordy- Both teams have been rather quiet after the first goal.

Frank- Indeed. They have been going back and forth, no one gaining much momentum.

Jordy- Frank..........

Frank- Yeah?

Jordy- Look!

Frank- Oh my goodness, Outman just found an opening through the forwards!

Frank- Ouch. Tripped up by an Ilove defender and is on the ground. Yellow Card is shown.

Frank- Logan Britt now subs in and Paul Outman hobbles of to the sideline.

Jordy- Chiata still has a corner kick.

Frank- Swade sets up the kick. Kicks it up. Britt jumps up and heads it the wrong way!

Frank- But Swade get the ball and shoots for the goal. It goes in!

Jordy- GGGGOOOOOOOOOAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

Jordy- Britt headed the ball to Swade so he could score. Brilliant move. Coach Fillmont still has some tricks up his sleeve.........

85' Minute

Frank- Well this game is winding down.

Jordy- Chiata is now just trying to burn the clock by passing it back and forth.

Frank- The score is 5-0. What a show by the Chiata Suns.

Jordy- Well..... you were right Frank. Chiata will win.

Frank- Never doubt your own team Jordy. Words to live by.

Frank- Anyway, goals have been by Swade, Swade again, R.T, Willis and Rickers.

Frank- Assists by R.T., Britt, Swade, R.T. again, and Willis.

Jordy- No word on Outmans injury yet.

Frank- The clock hits 90 minutes and it's game over for Ilove.

Frank- Chiata wins with 5 goals while Ilovebenderdotcomland looses with 0 goals.

Frank- They really need to make their country name shorter........

A Serbian Defeat

"AND IT'S THE HERO OF ECOSSE WHO ONCE AGAIN RISES, MCFADDEN ADDING THE THIRD GOAL! A FREE-KICK POWERED THROUGH THE WALL, SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!"

Bulloch punched the air. Why had he ever thought they might struggle out in this unknown country? They were rotten, whoever they were. Then he reminded himself; it wasn't that long since they had been stuck at that level, pumped by mediocre sides. But he shouldn't get bogged down in the politics of rankings and how good sides were: he should just get on with the moment and now. Nouvel Ecosse were flying 3-0 up, the defense and the attack doing their job nicely. Fifty minutes down, and with goals from Sanchez Reno and Curt LaFleur already tallied now alongside the McFadden free-kick it was all a real easy cruise for Norrie Stewart's side.

"Alright Bulloch" remarked Elisio, a regular in the Saltire & Embassy, although normally not during an away match.
"Not at the game, no Eli?"
"Na, Bull, work forced me to stay at home. Stan's there, but he phoned me and said its just no the same. Anyhow, can I get a pint of yer finest Walrus Lager, please Bull?"
"So I take it there will be no podcast then? And sure, I'll just get that..."

"THE SERBIAN EMPIRE SNATCH A GOAL BACK. ITS THREE-ONE, SOME SHODDY DEFENDING FROM VAN MILLER, GOING TO GROUND FAR TOO EARLY, AND HE LETS THE STRIKER THROUGH. FRAZER SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER"

"Aaft, man. Big Pierre should have done better there. The man's got experience, for flips sake."
"Well, here's your pint anyway Eli. You can have it on me; Your podcast has done plenty for my pub over the years, just enjoy your night."
"Thanks, big man. I knew all that ass-licking would eventually pay up."

The two shared a laugh, and then Eli returned to his table with his pint. Bulloch, briefly free of duties, returned to the game, where Van Miller, who had pulled something, and thus explaining his lapse in defending, was being replaced by some kid from the U-15 team. There was a few shouts of uproar, but Bulloch was happy for the kid. Doran Milosevici, he played for some team in Buyan. Sixteen years old - God, at sixteen, Bulloch was still lounging round the flat, wiling his time away. Here was this kid, playing abroad and representing his country!

"AND ITS ANOTHER ONE BACK! THE SERBIAN EMPIRE, BENEFITING FROM THE BRIEF RESHUFFLE OF THE DEFENSE, HAVE FOUND A GAP! FRAZER COULD DO NOTHING BUT WATCH!"

The groan was even louder still, and Bulloch knew that the orders for more beer would be flooding in straight away. That was the one benefit for when the Rampant Walrus played badly - business was good. And sure enough, they were flooding to his counter now, including Eli, obviously keen to flood away the angst.

"Back so soon, aye? Its tense, isn't it?" Bulloch inquired.
"You know what it is like with our National team. Like watching a slow death."
"Its always the same. So, just the same?"
"Aye, but give me another one along with it. This game is going to the wire."

"ITS CARDOZA, THE SUBSTITUTE WONDER! THAT'LL PUT A SMILE BACK ON THE FACES BACK AT HOME! TWO GAMES! TWO GOALS! A TERRIFIC RECORD FOR THE DYNAMO NOVA TANGIERS CAPTAIN!"

A massive cheer, the largest of the night, erupted from the room, and a few drinks were accidentally spilled.

"Its a shame we've got so many good strikers. Donovan and Leandro both have to just wile away the time on the bench."
"Aye, but I think Leandro's got the edge now. A 100% ratio! Donovan's played near twenty times and I'm sure I can only remember him scoring once."
"Fair enough, hes had his chance. And this Leandro, he's captain of some Taijan team. Obviously putting the effort in. I say put him in the first team at the expense of another."
"I don't know. Who is there to remove? We've already got three at the back, and removing one from midfield would be too risky. And Donovan, he does try hard."
"But his form is stinking. Stick Cardoza in, and you've got three hitmen at the front. It'll be lethal"

It was a good day for the Levivania national team. They had beaten there opponent 1-0 Star player Levi Goldman had recently lost his mother and he wanted to win it for her. Goldman scored the team's 1 goal. Goalie Mike Laznbey had a great performance allowing no goals and making an incredible save. After the game the team headed down to a local dance club to party. Mike was dancing like there was no tomorrow and loading up on alcohol. (He turned 21 a week ago so he was new to drinking) Levi sat in the corner. He was still sad, but he was glad he won that game for his mother. He was talking with Danny Muller. "That was a pretty damn good performance out there," Danny said as he gulped down his scotch. "Yeah," Levi replied glumly. "I'm really sorry 'bout your mom," Danny said. "Thank," Levi replied. The next day, Mike was throwing up in the bathroom and had a horrible headache. "Welcome to the world of Hangovers," Teammate and starting Forward Bruce Walker said sarcastically. Bruce, Levi Mike and Danny all shared a room. "How long does this last?" Mike said weakly. Bruce laughed but didn't respond. The team had breakfast, and started there workout in preparation for the game later in the evening. Mike was not feeling well enough to do the morning practice, so reserve Derrick Ricks was in for him. Mike said he just needed to recover and he would be fine for the afternoon practice. Goalie Derrick Ricks was 331 years old, and was the starting goalie for the national team, until Mike came along. Derrick was jealous of Mike because he felt as if Mike just took his spot because of his hype and not because he earned it, so Derrick was eager to practice. The practice started with there morning run of about 5 miles. Then, after drills the scrimmaged. Derrick was in as the primary goalie. Derrick played solid with his team winning 2-0. After the practice the team had some free time. Levi and Reserve defensemen Doug Cripe decided to play some video games while Mike decided to nap. Finally, it was the afternoon practice. Mike was feeling better and played

Mangolana Gazzette

Mangolana Player Profile: JD Fuller

Today the Mangolana Gazzette will be starting a new section for the World Cup and possibly for the Cup of Harmony, should Mangolana be invited. It is the new Player Profile, where we will talk about the career and highlights of Mangolana national team players and up and coming talents. We will be focusing on their careers and personal lives that they have developed throughout the year. Below is the first for this new series, and shockingly enough, one of the best soccer players in Mangolana.

JD Fuller: 30 years old, Club: Makosile, Vilitia, Hometown: South Narcana, Mangolana

JD Fuller, the oldest of the Fuller Brothers and the better of the two brothers, though you would never get Allen to admit it. JD grew up in South Narcana, where he attended Southern Can High School. While attending High School, JD played most night with the Narcana junior team. By the time he turned 16, he was projected by many as one the best up and coming players in Mangolana. At the age of 17, JD signed his first professional contract with Skyline United. because of this, JD spent his senior year of High School at the Skyline Academy school where he graduated with High Honors. At the age of 20, JD became the most notable Mangolana player in the multiverse when he signed a contract with Makosile of the Vilitian Stellar Division. Since, JD has won the Stellar Division title and Tropical trophy along with other titles.

Now 30 years old, and still one of the strongest players for the Mangolana national team, JD is still continuing his great play with Makosile. He is one of the longest tenured players within the club and has started with the club almost since he joined the club. 6 years ago, during a qualifier in Narcana, JD met his future wife, Lucy Jimenez, the daughter of past captain and manager Robert Jimenez. They married just over a year after they met, and today live in Vilita with their two children, Jeff Fuller and Jennifer Fuller. Both play soccer for their local junior teams, and both love to attend daddies games with Makosile.

What could be next when JD retires you ask, well who knows. JD recently said in and interview with a Mangolana news agency, "I haven't even considered what i'll do when I retire. Its never crossed my mind. Maybe ill get out of the game completely. Maybe ill get into managing, who knows what ill do, only time will tell and that time isn't now.

Rule Theriault's Republicans had started qualifying for World Cup 66 with 2 consecutive victories. While the game against Riojasia appeared close on the scoreboard when it was all said and done, it wasn't actually close. Kyle Bolton had picked up 2 assists in the first 20 minutes, as Leo Cremonesi and Faredin Pozenel scored early to put the FFR up 2 goals to nil in their first away match of this qualifying campaign. After that, they eased up somewhat. Going into a defensive shell, they shut down the Riojasian offense for the better part of the evening. In the final minutes of the match, Patrick Werfel, who had come into the match as a substitute, had a momentary lapse in concentration, allowing Juan Fernandez to score a goal.

After the match, Rule Theriault spoke to the team.

Rule Theriault - You did what you needed to do out there, but you cannot afford to play so sloppy against Gyatso-Kai. As you know, we will soon be facing the group favorites at the Soccer Palace. They have qualified for 7 consecutive World Cups. All of you need to be focused on upsetting them tomorrow. Your task in this qualifying campaign is to end their streak and deny them a spot in World Cup 66.

Kyle Bolton - Coach, we know this already.

Rule Theriault - Kyle, as the team captain you should know better. A victory tomorrow paves the way to a spot in the World Cup. A defeat just sets up Gyatso-Kai to qualify easily.

Kyle Bolton - Coach, I promised the rest of the team that I'd make sure we got an insurmountable lead so we could take it easy today.

Rule Theriault - Why would you do that?

Kyle Bolton - We need to be rested prior to our match against Gyatso-Kai. I didn't want us to unnecessarily exert ourselves against Riojasia.

Rule Theriault - I see where you are coming from.

Massimiliano Abdullahi came up to Rule Theriault and whispered something into his ear.

Rule Theriault - I have some business to take care of with Mr. Abdullahi. I'll be back later.

Theriault and Abdullahi left the locker room, leaving the Republican National Team to chat amongst themselves.

Marius Christofferson - Am I the only one glad that we can finally talk about something other than soccer?

Kyle Bolton - I think we all agree with you, Marius.

Marius Christofferson - That's what I wanted to hear.

Ayub Sandstrom - So, have you guys watched Wrestlecade yet?

Faredin Pozenel - Thanks to these Saints, it was easy to connect to Sanctustube. It was already up when I looked earlier.

Arnou Labrecque - I also found it on Sanctustube.

Kyle Bolton - Did anybody not see it yet?

William Walls - Why do you guys watch that stuff?

Kieran Hancock - I agree with William. I'm bored with Republican wrestling these days. Taiyouese wrestling is so much better.

Leo Cremonesi - Kieran, that stuff is boring. Where are the storylines, the characters and the crazy matches?

Kieran Hancock - They don't do that. Instead, the Taiyouese wrestlers actually wrestle. The annual tournament will be held later this summer.

Koby Theodore - I admit, Kieran, that those guys are talented, probably more talented than our wrestlers, but I just can't get into it.

Kieran Hancock - The big news this week out of Noburu Taiyou involves the debut of Silvester Poppaedius.

Kyle Bolton - The Sanctii amateur wrestler that won a gold medal at the Liventia Olympics?

Kieran Hancock - Yes, he's going to make his debut at Esportiva's festival this autumn.

Berto Marcelo - That's nice, but can we talk about how the Forsaker ended the Crusher's seemingly endless run as the champion?

Kyle Bolton - That was great. I didn't think they could top the triple-cage ladder match from last year, but this year's Nejax death match did exactly that.

Ausilio Mancini - I still can't believe how violent that was.

Jens Koch - Absolutely. I don't think I'll ever forget the sight of both men covered in blood as the Forsaker knocked him out cold with a Forsaken Slam on the barbed wire.

Bernard Lukic - What about Nova beating Olivia for the title?

Kyle Bolton - That was a pleasant surprise.

Koby Theodore - Do you mean Nova winning or the sheer brutality of that match?

Kyle Bolton - Both.

Jens Koch - I've always loved watching chicks fight each other.

Leo Cremonesi - I think all guys do.

Kieran Hancock - Stop being misogynistic. I'm sure you'll be talking about how "great" Grand Theft Surveillance 6 is.

Faredin Pozenel - It is. I hope you guys had enough money to buy your day 1 digital copies.

Kyle Bolton - Faredin, you're the only one of us that has an oilman for a father. Most of us don't have enough money to get it yet.

Marius Christofferson - I bet those Sanctii aren't very happy about that game being the talk of SaintBook right now.

Koby Theodore - They can't do anything about it. RepublicSoft hosts SaintBook content for non-Sanctii on their own servers.

Kyle Bolton - That's a good thing. I don't want the Sanctii shutting down discussion.

Faredin Pozenel - When we get back to Petrograd, I'm going to hang out with my friends and play Grand Theft Surveillance Online together. Prince of Saintland was good, but GTS6 is so much better. It has absolutely lived up to all of the hype.

Leo Cremonesi - Now, I want to play it even more.

Faredin Pozenel - Maybe some of our fans will be willing to give us each enough thalers to buy Grand Theft Surveillance 6.

Kyle Bolton - I think we'll go to one of the sports bars in Petrograd.

Faredin Pozenel - Actually, I think my parents may be willing to help out. Did you guys hear that GTS6 sold 60 million copies in the first day, across all major platforms?

Ayub Sandstrom - That's beyond anything I had expected.

Kyle Bolton - Actually, that doesn't surprise me. GTS6 looks like the best game I've ever seen.

Leonid Borodin - Does this mean that Metal of Duty will have disappointing sales this year?

Faredin Pozenel - Probably. Why do you need Medal of Duty when you can play Grand Theft Surveillance Online instead?

Kyle Bolton - You make a good point.

At this moment, Rule Theriault came back into the room.

Rule Theriault - I have it on good authority that Gyatso-Kai hasn't been practicing very much lately. We have a real shot at beating them, so there will be a practice tomorrow after we get back home. Be ready, exploit the G-K defense and we will beat them. We absolutely have to do so, if we want to qualify for the World Cup this year.

Rule Theriault's focus was on qualifying for the World Cup, but his team was not entirely concerned with soccer at the moment. They were enjoying themselves, probably too much...

The Lulika City News

Silver Beach holds on for their first victory of qualification with a 2-1 victory over BeaverRiver

Image
Silverian fans after the final whistle blew and the 2-1 victory was final

The Kingdom of Silver Beach soccer team has gotten off to a fast start, already in just two matches picking up more points than they did throughout the entirety of all 18 games of World Cup 64 qualification, with their first win in Lulika City in what seems like forever, holding on to a 2-1 victory even as they fell to 10 men due to injury, rather than any red cards. A double from team captain Oscar Bestra put Silver Beach on top never to look back in this match, and the squad rode the energy provided by the home fans for 90 minutes.

Silverians came out in full force for this match, selling out the stadium with over 24 overs left until the start of the match, which is tough to do in a stadium as large as Justinian I. The sea of blue was too much to handle for BeaverRiver, as they seemed intimidated from the start of the match, and the fans were engaged from the get-go. The 'Silver Riders', the largest fan group in Silver Beach for the national team, were leading songs and chants throughout the entirety of the match, which helped bring spirit to the team.

Silver Beach dominated the entirety of the 1st half, and even had a chance to be up 3-0 at the half, rather than just up by 2. Silver Beach started from the gate playing with passion and fire, and this showed when Frank Bloom had a header go off the cross bar and cleared out in simply the 4th minute, showing that Silver Beach was not only playing for points, but that Silver Beach would play in front of their home fans with the clear intent to win the match, rather than just take a draw away from it. Silver Beach kept possession throughout the beginning of the match, clearly outclassing BeaverRiver, even though Silver Beach has the lowest ranking in the entire group. Oscar Bestra sent Silverian fans crazy in the 22nd minute, when he scored from 20 yards out as his shot hit the upper-right corner of the goal, giving Silver Beach a 1-0 lead in Lulika City.

The Silverian team, instead of falling back as they did against The Holy Empire, brought the game to their opponents. Silver Beach kept pushing forward and attacking, and in the 27th minute Wilder put the ball into the back of the net on a header from the cross of Isaiah Nesta, but the goal was called off due to him being offsides, much to the disappointment of Silverian fans. Silver Beach kept pushing forward afterwards, and scored in the 39th minute when Frank Bloom was fouled at the top of the box, getting a free kick for Silver Beach. A moment later, team captain Oscar Bestra bent the ball into the back of the net as Silver Beach doubled its lead to 2-0, which they gladly took into the half.

In the 2nd half, the Silver Beach and BeaverRiver squads basically played to a draw for the first 30 minutes of the 2nd half. Both teams played in the midfield, and Raymond Juna made a stellar save on a free kick to keep his clean sheet, and keep Silver Beach ahead of the competition. However, in that period, Silver Beach again made 3 substitutions, and that came to hurt them. They kept their formation instead of switching to 5 defenders like they did against The Holy Empire, subbing in all 3 defenders from the bench, and all defenders coming out except for Isaac Terrell, who made up for poor play against The Holy Empire with excellent play today.

In the 77th minute, BeaverRiver got onto the board after Christopher Berry coughed up the ball in the Silverian third, and BeaverRiver had an easy cross and goal to cut Silver Beach's lead in half. Then, in the 80th minute, Isaiah Nesta rolled on his ankle and sprained it, and had to be taken out of the game. As Silver Beach had run out of substitutions, they had to play with 10 men for the final 10 minutes of the match, plus 3 minutes of stoppage time. However, Silver Beach used possession to clinch the game. Instead of falling into a shell, they were able to pass the ball well and keep possession, and BeaverRiver never got a quality opportunity to equalize, and Silver Beach clinched a 2-1 victory that put them into 2nd place in the group.

Moving forward, Silver Beach has 8 matches left to clinch the all-important 1st place spot and try to qualify for the World Cup. They have a big match coming up, with their next game coming at the Licentian Isles, making a visit to Licentian hollowed ground at Luke Thomas I Stadium. Silver Beach will be looking to duplicate this performance at Montfort, and the Silver Riders will be taking a small fan group to this stadium. Until next time, go Silver Beach!

You know how hard it is to win at the Archregimancy? With their angels, popes, priests, monks, nuns and whatnot. Their "God", whom no one has seen, unlike Margaret; mysteriously allowed the Archregimancy to score every 17 minutes this match, no matter where the ball was.
The 1st two, were shots on goal that somehow got through our keeper. But the 3rd came after our goalie caught a shot, and somehow the ball teleported right into the back of our net as Ashley Brandt reached back to throw it back into play. The next two came after fouls by our players, and the ball placed on the penalty spot. But no one came up to kick, and somehow the goals were scored! Either ghosts or angels, the latter most likely, influenced the game. We're protesting this match.

You'll never walk alone SJG!

When you walk through a storm,
hold your head up high,
and don't be afraid of the dark ;
at the end of the storm there is a golden sky
and the sweet silver song of the lark.

Walk on through the wind,
walk on through the rain,
though your dreams be tossed and blown.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
and you'll never walk alone my SJG,
you'll never walk alone my SJG.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
and you'll never walk alone my SJG,
you'll never walk alone my SJG.

So as the song says "You'll never walk alone", The National Team of SJG, never go alone.

As part of the unconditional support always make fans, The Guayabalense Ultras, Turba Guayabalense, Barra Brava SJG, God Loves SJG and The Immortal 12th Player, will support our National Team to all away games of SJG during WC 66 Qualifiers, or should advance to WC 66, we estimate a number between ten thousand or twenty thousand (10'000-20'000 people) who go to any stadium where the national team play, so it is estimated that an invasion of fans "will not let walk alone" to our country's national team.

According to the estimate of fans who go along with the selection, the National Airlines of SJG was saturated with flights to the host country by fans that go with optimism and energy, the National Football Federation of SJG will pay 50% of costs organized bar fans, as well as carry whistles, drums, trumpets, flares and police sirens (like whistle) to put heat to the environment and our national team matches.

Of the 10'000-20'000 spectators who go to watch the game, it is estimated that 20-30% will go for theirselvs or by domestic companies sweepstakes.

But we expect a great game Against Chiata for the national team, for his participation in the WC 66 Qualifiers, has generated much buzz in SJG, so Let's go SJG!

Kidlantian Broadcasting Corporation Sport Channel (KBCSC)
"Hello, this is Robert Carnegie from Blue Eagle National Stadium in Kidlantis City. We have just saw the ending to a spectacular game in which the 330th ranked Kidlantian National Team just defeated 161st ranked Albaie team. After a disappointing loss to Ko-oren in the first World Cup match, this win was encouraging to the national squad. Attendance was over 95,000, and viewing figures in Kidlantis were estimated among the hundreds of million.s"

"In the first half of the game, the defensive Kidlantians kept the offensive Albaie team, from scoring, although star Igor Petroanvik was cautioned for a reckless slide tackle. Homer Willis, who has recovered from his injury in the first match with Ko-oren, nearly scored a goal during a free kick which was caused by a Albaie defender, although a spectacular save from the Albaie goalkeeper stopped the ball in its tracks."

"In the second half, Kidlantis went on the offensive. Although this meant less concentration on defense it payed off, except when an Albaie forward nearly scored, however, thankfully for the Kidlantians, Jake Smith, the star goalkeeper, stopped the ball with a fantastic save. Other than that incident, the focus on offense payed off late in the second-half, when Attacking Midfielder Edwin Vaite, whose infamous "Bacon Chip" ad was aired 5 times this night, scored a goal. After that, Albaie desperately tried to score a goal, alas, to no effect other than the Kidlantian defense getting tired out in the late game. The crowd rose up and cheered once the final seconds ran out.

"The next World Cup match for Kidlantis will be played in Furellum, a team that is fifth in our group. Viewing figures for various Kidlantian television networks once again are predicted to be in the hundreds of millions. The official prediction of Mr. John Bleak of KBCSC is that Furellum will win. For now, this is Robert Carnegie signing off, goodnight everyone. Following this will be the KBCSC Post-game Report, and then after that KBCSC American Football Central. However, before that we bring you to the Golbinger's Shampoo Play of the Match."

"Golbinger's Shampoo, making you smell nice since 1960, brings you the Play of the Match."

"Late in the second half, attacking midfielder Edwin Vaite stole the ball from an Albaie forward, and then charged up the pitch and scored a goal off the post and into the net, bringing Team Kidlantis up by one, and winning the match."

"This is Golbinger's Shampoo Play of the Match, and we thank you for watching."
