Robert stood and looked before him. Many had already voted and were a lost cause, yet he would make his stand. He would not back down and allow the nation to succumb to anti-egalitarian hereditary dictatorship. Taking a deep breath, he launched into his speech. "If the 'Membership of the Commonwealth of Nations' passes, I now state my intent to request a veto from the President against such an awful act and I will expect his co-operation, even if he did sponsor the poor excuse for democratic legislation. Why? You may ask that question and I will answer it.
Months ago, the people of this nation threw off the chains of monarchy. Not only a simple majority but two-thirds of Aurentina decided that they wanted a republic. We are now a fully independent republic, independent from the British crown and independent as a republic.
Yet many want to change this fact. They have lost the game of politics that is democracy and so they turn to undemocratic means. I point to the Republican Executive Act and to the Aurentine Constitutional Convention, yet against the will of the people they want to create a throne for our nation and place Queen Elizabeth upon it. A simple vote of this senate should never be allowed to overthrow our entire political system and every concept it stands for.
This is not about Republicanism versus Monarchy. It is not about my opinion versus another's. It is about the will of the people, the will that has been expressed multiple times to be a will that favours the President over the British Queen and if you do not respect that will, then you may be labelled a dictator of your constituency. We are a republic and always shall be a republic unles the people will it not.
Thank you."

"Senators, do not be cowered by this questionable and highly inaccurate assault on your intelligence. There is not a single grain of truth in the words just spoken. Let us pause for a while and think of all the countries who are in the commonwealth but do not have the Queen as their head of state. India and Pakistan for example. Sri Lanka and South Africa too. I ask you do any of them have Queen Elizabeth as head of state? I credit you all with enough intelligence not to have to answer that.
Here are the facts plain an simple, there are 54 countries currently in the commonwealth how many do you suppose are subjects of the crown? 50? 40? 30? 20? No none of the above. It is 16 states who hold the Queen as head of state and this deplorable attempt to scaremonger you into thinking that to be in the commonwealth one must have the Queen as head of state is utterly deplorable.
That said I move under PPUBA to question the senators integrity and honesty using Article 1 clause 6. I ask that he remove his lies from the chamber and apologize for his attempt to mislead this esteemed body to further his own ends. Senators I urge you to see through this man and join me in condemning his lies through my motion."
Taking a sip of water he sat down.
