Strike Peeling Monkey's off Back, But the biggest one still remains...
Jungle Strike FC nearly did it all during the most recent UICA Cycle(s). After winning the Vilitan Stellar Division for a 14th time, the Venom rolled to victories in the 28th Aeropag Invitational, 24th Cygnus Cup and inaugural UICA Youth Cup. It was a first Aeropag victory for the Venom, and a second-consecutive victory in the Cygnus Cup, a competition they qualified for by virtue of their victory in it during the 48th UICA Cycle. For the Venom Youth Academy, it was a victory at the first attempt, with the UICA Youth Cup only being introduced as a formal competition during the 49th UICA Cycle, Strike FC became the first, and thus far only, team to be crowned champions.
While all those things were fantastic accomplishments to add to the continuously expanding trophy case at the Lonngeylin Coliseum, there were two trophies that were distinctly absent througout the history of the storied Vilitan Club. International Champions Competition trophies. Cup Winners Cup - Check. Invitational Cups - Check. Youth Cup - Check. Jungle Strike FC had done it all with the exception of the two biggest stages for an Atlantian Oceania based club. The UICA Champions Cup and the Atlantian Oceania Champions League for all winners of regional leagues.
As they had been for much of their history, the Venom were fighting to climb out from beneath the huge shadow left behind by the Yeaddin Owls. The Owls were three-time consecutive finalists in the NS Champions League, the predecessor to the UICA Champions Cup, and former winners of the Atlantian Oceania Champions League as well. Jungle Strike FC had none of them.
But as it would seem, the 49th UICA Cycle would see Strike start chipping away at that mold. After taking sole possession of the 'winningest team in Stellar Division history' title from the Owls with their 14th Stellar Division title, Jungle Strike advanced to the Atlantian Oceania Champions League final against, of all teams, Mliona-Lpaka - and made no mistake in adding their name to the list of regional champions for the first time ever.
All that leaves just one thing - one huge empty space... err shelf in the trophy case. A space that was nearly filled during the 46th UICA Champions Cup, only to see the Venom fall in the final to the Two-bit Irregulars from Wight. That would be the UICA Champions Cup and UICA Super Cup trophies. The Venom will take another shot at it during the historic 50th UICA Cycle, looking to complete the 'all-time grand slam' and perhaps write the last truly new chapter in the great history books in Lonngeylin.
The Venom were hoping to increase their chances by hosting the final at the Lonngeylin Coliseum, but that bid was defeated by La Fantás in Farfadillis in the final round.
Likewise, the Tivali Ring Stadium, which had been the favorite to host the UICA Globe Cup after being the runner up in the selection for the 46th Globe Cup host site, lost out once again with the Vaian National Pitch in Maklohi Vai being selected in the final round after the Tivali-Ring Stadium led each prior round of voting.
However, there will be at least two UICA finals during the 50th cycle, with Marine World Park in Crosaibi chosen to host the UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup for the second time in history. Marine World Park was selected over the Coliseum of the Inurahtii in Turori by a single vote in the final round. Marine World Park will also play host to the final rounds of the UICA Youth Cup, where Jungle Strike FC will be looking to retain their title.
