Name: Olov Treefriend
Age (13-19, please): 17
Appearance: (TRY YOUR DAMNEDEST TO GET A PIC!)
Image

Race (what is your nonhuman half?): half horse (basically a centaur)
Bio: Completely optional. Unlike most half-humans, centaurs were created ages ago and just kept on going. The very first ones were a mixture of human and horse but they started breeding with each other instead of relying on humans to keep breeding with horses. Olov and most centaurs are quite in tune with nature and have some nature based abilties. He can make plants grow, can talk to animals and can ask trees to give up a living part of itself to him (usually needs to give them something like nutrients in return) among other things. He excelled with archery, herbs, nature magic and was bright for his age so the tribe sent him to the school to bring back new talents to the tribe.

Race (what is your nonhuman half?): 1/2th vampire
Bio: Sakura was born to a poor japanesse family. A vampire women and a human dad. Every day Sakura would have to give 10 ml of her blood to her vampire mom. One day she got sick of it. She ran awayas fast as she could. Her speed was incriedble as she marched through water and ran to california. From there she was guided by a person who told her to go to new york and go to a school. Her new life awaits. Completely optional.

Another vampire, hmm? :p
Though my character's currently a bit less vampire than that. Though the reason he's one tenth vampire is because a seal/thingy reduces it accordingly. Therefore he doesn't have the disadvantages/weaknesses, though he heals bit slower than a full vampire- where the entire body regenerates any wound in milliseconds- he obviously tends to be slower than that, and he doesn't really have the strength/speed bonus. Though if he feeds on enough blood to weaken the seal, he becomes more vampiric.
FYI, the seal seems like an unintentional reference to the one in Rosario Vampire, though the one tenth vampire thing actually came from Bakemonogatari.

And then there's the half-raiji/thunder-beast/demon/spirit/yokai character of mine, which is somewhat different. :)

If she (or he) doesn't respond soon, it might be a good idea to start a new thread following along a similar premise. We could add a more detailed background as well. For example, who opened this school? What is the history of the school? When did Nadezhda become so much better than everyone else? Why does her father smoke so much marijuana? Which dress matches her favorite necklace more? Why is that one demonic guy such a stalker? What plot line will this thread follow? How did magic enter the world? Where and how did these "half" beings arise? And so much more...

If the original poster never comes back, I'll submit this.

Name: Dr. Amrita Mahajan

Age: Ancient

Appearance:

Image

Race: Rakshasi

Subject: Principal, History

Bio: Dr. Mahajan, as she calls herself, is really old, and I mean really, really old. According to a few of her angelic acquaintances, she arrived on the planet Earth approximately sixty five million years ago, riding a certain mile-wide asteroid through the atmosphere. Her vehicle crashed into what is today the Gulf of Mexico, causing the extinction of the dinosaurs (and several other species) in the process. That said, most believe her to be even older than this. Her appearance and general demeanor haven't changed much since then either, prompting some to assert that she is at least one billion years old. In any case, some of the more curious of you may be wondering what she's been up to since murdering eighty five percent of all life on the planet. Well, just remember that curiosity killed the cat. Seriously, it's none of your business. I don't see why all these young whipper-snappers have to poke their noses into everything that happens.

Fine. I'll tell the story. Until humans were created, Amrita spent the majority of her time advising various deities, wrestling giant sharks, and segregating India from the rest of the world by building the Himalayas. She figured that the level of awesome that would one day exist there might overpower all the other countries, and so, being a compassionate soul, she acted to prevent this, in the name of equality and steak. Then, returning to East Africa to go on safari, Dr. Mahajan witnessed the birth of humanity. Intrigued by the strange apes that walked on fully erect and spoke gibberish, she decided to take a few of them as pets. You see, her boss at the time, a nice gent by the name of Brahma had a running bet with his brothers, Vishnu and Shiva, on who could produce the most wondrous thing in the universe. Brahma tied the first and second rounds, and this would settle the matter once and for all.

So, anyway, Dr Mahajan brought people to the Indian subcontinent, and showed them to Brahma, who quickly became discouraged by their lack of extra appendages. However, she argued so fervently for the initial plan, that he decided to go through with it, even if it meant losing the bet. After thousands of years of toil, Brahma established the Indus Valley Civilization, much to the chagrin of his brothers. Despite this, he still lost the bet. You see, Shiva had created this thing called a typhoon, and the deities of the Hindu religion thought this a most wondrous invention. I mean, who doesn't like screwing with humanity? Well, after observing the destruction of numerous civilizations in India, Dr. Mahajan decided to go on a world tour, and see what the other deities had built.

She visited Mesopotamia, Greece, and Egypt, even passing a magnificent city by the name of Troy. While in North Africa, she was impressed by a human inventions called pyramids, and, determining once more to intervene in the affairs of humankind, she taught all numerous other peoples how construct such buildings. Eventually, Dr. Mahajan grew weary of walking, and returned to India, just in time to take part in the events of the Ramayana. Posing as one of Ravana's wives, she outwitted him in order to ensure Rama's victory. While her motivations for doing this remain unclear, at least one chronicler suspected that she was tired of Ravana borrowing money without paying it back.

Much later, she was present at the birth of a man named Jesus, disguised as a poor shepherdess. She gave Mary a little lamb, that used to follow her where ever she would go, even to school. After all, one does not simply attend a child's birth without bringing a gift. Afterwards, Dr. Mahajan wandered around the globe for about two thousand years, contributing to numerous myths and legends. For example, she became a close friend of Baba Yaga while in Russia. Not to mention, she was tight with Frigg and Rhea. They used to do a book and knitting club every Wednesday. Finally, in the year eighteen ninety, Dr. Mahajan, together with an angel by the name of Yahoel and the rainbow serpent, called Kajura, founded a high school in New York. Yahoel, who thought of himself as the leader, wanted to have something similar to West Point for magical beings, a place to train young people to fight against the demonic legions of Hell. Amrita preferred a more inclusive mission statement, an institution that would educate students and keep them safe from prejudice. Kajura, being mellow, didn't really care either way.

Dr. Mahajan and Yahoel agreed to settle their difference with a game of multiple handed rock-paper-scissor. Amrita, possessing four hands, ultimately won the contest. An angry Yahoel departed back to Heaven, muttering something about hoes and tricks. Kajura signed on as a teacher of geography, which made sense, considering that he had essentially created most of it. Dr. Mahajan became the principal and a history teacher. She has been educating pupils ever since, and disciplining them too, but mostly educating them.

Actually, they would have a moral compass in the negatives. 0 is neutral and negatives tend to be represented as evil on moral compasses (technically, it can be positive but that goes against convention)

Indeed. May I ask what we should call the school in question? Labeling the in-character thread the same thing as this one seems to scream "we lack creativity".

That sounds kinda cool. You don't have to listen to my idea, but I have one. I would call it Halfling Hall, if you guys and Natair are cool with it. I haven't posted in a bit because I'm still waiting for the IC to come up.

I would give Natair another three or four days to respond. Has anyone managed to contact her via telegram? So long as we know she's still around, no drastic actions are necessary. If she doesn't plan to come back, though, it might be a good idea to begin a new thread. I would also think we could use a more detailed plot direction, otherwise the thread will die in a few weeks. First thing's first, though. Names... I like the alliteration in Halfling Hall, but would that be the thread name or the school's name?

Other name ideas:

Thread

  • Spring Awakening
  • Half Surreal
  • In Good Company

School

  • Halfling Hall
  • Halfling High
  • Eton Academy
  • Smith High
  • Greysky High
  • Elton Manchester's School of Exceptional Excellence

I've also been thinking of professors. I am skeptical that we will have enough for the purposes of the role-play. As it stands, I believe we have three or fours. I'll make a list. Perhaps we should each have at least two characters, with the suggestion being that one of them be an instructor? Otherwise, we could have the original poster act as NPC's. Anyhow, here's the list I typed up.
