Up until I joined NS, I was completely conservative. I thought Bush was okay and that Stephen Harper is the best prime minister evar (I'm Canadian)! Looking back on that, I can't believe how stupid I was. After doing a bit of research and actually investing time in politics, I learned that Bush was stupid, Harper sucks and Trotsky was the world's biggest hope for the future. I thought Stalin was great because he won WWII, but now I actually know who he is and what he's done. I've changed from Far-Right to Left over the course of a year. Probably because I knew pretty much nothing about politics back then and never even cared. TRUDEAU 2015, SOCIALISM FOR THE FUTURE!

Kind of the opposite for me. Heavily idealistic I loved the concept of equality for all and this thing called 'socialism' and it's representation in historical context until I came to realize that socialism tends to centralize things creating a bureaucratic mess of ambition and theft. Ultimately I came to grasp that modern humans are too individualistic for socialism. So merit-earned capitalism was the way out in a sustainable system even if not everybody had the same standards of life.
However as an inhabitant of the third world, I also believe that capitalism is much like water. It makes stability and supports fertility and can just as easily destroy it if left to do everything, like a flowing river turning into a cascade that erodes everything around it...point being that I believe that when necessary it is the State's job to slightly hold hands with the economy as legitimate representative of an entity's populace to make adequate profit-based markets with more equilateral social growth and maintenance.
...and here I am, in the Center Left. Skeptical of the farther left and it's results. Ethically repulsed by the other extreme of minarchy and it's lack of civic virtue.

No. I've been everywhere on the right half of it.
And unlike you who changes your opinions 180o from day to day I actually think things through before changing my opinion on something. My ideology continues to be shaped by new information, events, and knowledge.

im talking about a government ran more or less by "warlord" esque leader that really only requires you to serve when needed but otherwise leaves you alone in your daily life. Where everyone is usually armed.
I can mix this despotic ruler with a number of government types
