Yeah, for some reason pics from IMDB just don't work on here.

Although I could see that IMDB Leslie Howard pic I tried to post, but apparently nobody else could...

It's John Cleese, I think.

So here's the plan, everybody:
I anticipate that the new operation will begin in a week or so. However, this depends on a number of things, primarily a) how much progress is made in the Tempsford thread, and b) how far I'm able to get in Page's story. I anticipate it will have 4-5 installments, the first of which I hope will go up tonight, in addition to Royce's and Cutler's apps.
Just to keep you all informed.

And what's this? A third hint?

Thanks!

Hint 1: Either a key radio transmission is intercepted or we'll be knocking out a German communications hub.

Hint 2: If the knocking out of a German communications hub is involved, possibly a jailbreak?

Hint 3: Continuing with the idea of the communications hub and a jailbreak, we will have a limited amount of time in order to complete the mission.

Between the mixed reactions to the KISS TV movie and fear of making another Star Wars Christmas Special, some media executives probably valued their money and lives too much to risk it.

This one's a real picker-upper.
November 19th(?), 1940
SS Facility, location unknown

Dark oblivion. Nothingness. No pain. No guilt. No awareness. Nothing at all.

"Wake up!"

For a second, as Page's eyes shot open, the echoing yell ricocheting around his ears, that that state of nothingness stayed with him. He blinked, not remembering where he was, or what he was, or who he was, or what he had done, or what had happened to him...and as it all came gradually tumbling back, he wished he could stay that way forever.

His bleary, bloodshot eyes finally focused on a small black circle at the center of his vision, wobbling slightly in tiny circles. The corners of the circle glinted silver in the light. His mind, still fumbling for neural connections, finally put together that it was a pistol aimed directly at his head, at the range of about an inch.

"Time to die!"

A second's pause. Page wasn't even sure if he was dreaming or not. The finger pulled back on the trigger, the hammer pulling back -
And clicked. The gun was empty. The sound echoed like a hard, solitary croak of a lone chuckle in the confined space.

Page's gaze ventured its way past the hand holding the pistol, up the black-sleeved arm, and onto the face of the German holding the weapon in his face, grinning like it was all some sort of innocent joke. Focusing his eyes, he could see numerous other SS troopers surrounding him, peering down at him. The soldier with a gun kept grinning his death's-head grin, managing to speak flawless English with
"No, you're not so lucky yet. Sleepytime's over, prisoner. You have an appointment."

He could feel hands roughly pulling him up from the bunk, forcing him to his feet. Two of them grabbed his arms, pulling them painfully behind his back. As he was hustled out, he got a glimpse of the cell he was in - it wasn't promising. It was all hard concrete, with a door of what looked like jet-black steel, the window at the top covered with a barred hatch. The door was hauled open with a screech, and Page was shoved bodily down the hall, still in the thrall of the SS troopers holding his arms.

He tried to collect his thoughts, to get some sort of coherent plan for what to do together in his mind...but nothing was happening. He felt utterly numb. He realized his uniform was gone, and in its place was a sort of terribly scratchy and ill-fitting prisoner's tunic. His left arm hurt around the shoulder joint, but he hadn't the foggiest idea why - even as the memories of what had happened back up in the Pyrenees came back to him, he didn't recall sustaining any injuries there. His head also felt oddly light - not lightheaded, per se, but actually physically lighter. And he could feel the movement of the air on his head as he was hustled along the darkened hallway all the more clearly than usual.
That's...strange...

The walk wasn't far. Ahead, a pair of SS troopers opened another massively reinforced door, and Page felt the course of the SS pack change as he was hustled into the room. Inside, was a desk, a normal chair facing the door - and on the other side of the table, was a massive chair, more like a sort of throne, almost, except that while a throne was typically covered in ornamentation, this chair was brutally functional, the back set at a 90 degree angle, made out of iron. He could see what looked like arm and leg restraints on the base and armrests of this "throne".

The Captain was shoved into the high-backed monstrosity, the pressure from the SS soldiers never loosening or diminishing for a second. His arms and legs were forced into the restraints, which were tightened to within an inch of his life, coming uncomfortably close to cutting off the circulation. When the flurry of activity died down, Page felt as trussed up as a Christmas goose. the door slammed shut

The fear had yet to kick in, for whatever reason. Some dull thought process at the back of his mind was telling him to be deathly afraid, mortally afraid, more afraid than he'd ever been in his life, but the necessary subconscious and glandular responses for such a feeling just weren't firing. It felt like he was in a dream - or in some ridiculous play, not in real life. It couldn't be real.

Page looked up. The wall facing him was slightly odd - instead of being straight reinforced concrete, like the other walls he'd noticed, this one seemed covered in some sort of matte and slightly reflective black substance. This seemed important, but he had no idea what to make of it. A few seconds later, the door screamed open and slammed shut again. A pair of jackboots could be heard slowly strutting up behind Page, the click of their heels always unmistakeable. A figure in a black SS officer's uniform slunk past him. The smell of cigarette smoke filled the room as a smoke trail wafted out from the cigarette the officer was apparently smoking. Page's whole body unintentionally seized at the smell, every muscle clenching - Jesus, how long has it been since I had a Lucky? What bloody time even is it? What day is it?

The officer turned around, confirming Page's suspicions. He sighed, seeing Konrad's grinning face. Neither of them said anything, for a moment.

Konrad exhaled another long lungful of smoke. "Captain Robert Page..." he happily drawled, stretching out every word. "It has been a long time since last we spoke like this, hasn't it? Not since...well, not since that unfortunate episode back in England, I should think. But now, we have all the time in the world."

A dim memory flashed back into Page's mind, and he couldn't help half-grinning. "And you're the Kraut from Paris. Right. How's the leg? The one I shot, I mean. You're walking pretty good for a cripple, I must admit-"
Without a second thought, Konrad removed the cigarette from his mouth, flipped it around, and drove the lit end straight onto Page's restrained upper arm.

Outside, the SS troopers guarding the door, hardened veterans both, actually jumped with surprise at the volume of the scream.

"-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING...FUCKING...PIECE OF SHIT...GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHhhhhh..."
The pain was extraordinary, he'd never felt anything like it. He actually temporarily lost track of time, down to the second, as the cigarette was held there - it felt like and hour, it was probably about five seconds -
Finally, Konrad drew the smoke away. "I will not be spoken to in that way," he calmly stated as fact, "or you will suffer for it. Badly. And in a multitude of ways you can't even begin to fathom, Page. You're in my home, now. You're at my mercy."
He peered down, trying to look Page in the eye, the Captain's face on his chest, panting heavily, trying to deal with the pain.
"It is in your interest to cooperate to your fullest extent."

Page drew his head up. "If...if this is all you've got, I'm not too worried."
Konrad stood back up. "You should be worried, Captain. Really, I'm trying to help you. You have two choices, right now, and only two. Cooperation, or..."
He tapped the cigarette with his other hand, his meaning clear. Page realized the hand holding the smoke was bright red, and pitted with deep cuts and scars - where the hell did that happen? Looks like he stuck it in a tiger's mouth.
"...and you realize I have no limits on what I can do to you to make you realize that you should cooperate, and all the time I need. This facility was built specially to hold people like you, Page. Nobody knows you're even here. No international laws apply. I strongly advise you to consider being more reasonable, Captain."

He drew in closer, until he was practically whispering in Page's ear. "You've cost me and Germany a great deal, Captain. Don't even think you can get out of this without severe recompense, one way or the other. Otherwise, what I will unleash on you will make what happened to your girlfriend back in Spain look like an unimaginable mercy."

The memories flashed back. Page gasped at the horror as he recalled what had happened. The hill - the few minutes after the last explosion - trying to bluff his way out - the gunshot -
Oh god, Izzy...I'm sorry...I'm so, so sorry...
The numbness faded away, and for the first time since he was awoke, the reality of the horror that confronted Page - not only from whatever Konrad could physically hurt him with on the outside, but from the horrific guilt he was now feeling tearing him apart from the inside - was made starkly apparent to him.
he could hear the Kraut saying other things, but he couldn't hear. All he could do was try not to physically break down and bawl right there, as every pained, nicotine-craving nerve in his body as screaming at him to do.
But all he could see was Izzy's face. And all he could hear was a robotic reflection of his own voice, creating a demented duet with his screamed mental apologies:
"Your fault....your fault...your fault..."

Awesome song choice!

And Len, how the hell does Silva not know Alix's rank? The insignia's there for a reason.

Because after a talk with the brass after a failed mission ranks tend to become... fluid.
Also because Silva has now consumed a bottle of whiskey and about six fingers of scotch. So he's a mite tipsy.

In all seriousness, a mite. He's got a liver like a dwarf. Or a Russian.
