I think I've told the story of where it came from before, but I had to weigh the effort of typing it out again vs looking it up...and typing won.
When I was a Junior in high school, I went to a private school and we received religious instruction as well. Our Junior year religion class was to cover "morality and social justice" and the teacher had devised a nation simulation game to force the class to work together to solve a problem. There were 5 nations, the Church and a UNalike. The nation my group received was called "Transnapa"
Being one of only two people in the group who cared about the game, I took charge of the nation, and we immediately had a Communist "revolution" so as to ally with a friend of mines nation, Centrifica. Of course, any nation that has a Communist revolution must end with "-stan", and so Transnapastan was born.
So where did the I come from?
Flash forward to my senior year, when my friend (the same guy who had Centrifica, found this neat nation simulation game online called NationStates. So I figure "Hell, I have a name already let me just type this in here."and click submit.
Looking at that nation page for the first time, I saw "Transnapastain" and thought "Oh shit, I typo'd!"
Thats right, even my frickin nation name is a typo.
After that it just kind of stuck.

Wait... you're iGuy? And you use "sic" on IRC?
If you look at my previous posts in this thread, then I think we'll know that we've known each other for... quite some time.
