It's been a thrilling conclusion to yet another astounding year of GPL football, but in the end, it was FC Deska that surged to the top to claim its unparalleled fourth regular season title.
In the final weeks, it was apparent that the race for the title, and its automatic TQCC spot, would come down to FC Deska and Tolven. Strangely, both teams had relatively poor finishes, but it was Deska that was able to outlast its neighbor to the west. It was a herculean defensive effort that saw the team allow only five goals in the final fourteen matchdays that helped the team bring home the trophy.
Reinheim Metro, Deska's cross-town rival, came in at third, ahead of West Tolten on goal difference. They were followed by Gordonopia FC, which slipped from the lead into fifth following a dreadful leg, Basin Plain, Willingham AC and Teva FC for Gordonopia Cup qualifying. Several teams were within striking distance of that eighth spot, with eleventh finishing Kaje Football only two points behind number eight, and VfB Deska Süd only being knocked out on head to head, with a failure emerge with more than a draw in their final game delivering the last blow.
Reichsburg FC found themselves in the unfortunate playoff spot, where they will have to play the runner-up of the Inter-League Cup. Meanwhile, Sporting Fusba, after only a season in the league, came in dead last, forcing the team into relegation.
Player Awards
Golden Boot - Jonathon Turner, 22, Gordonopia FC - In one of the more controversial votes in the history of the award, Jonathon Turner has narrowly edged out West Tolten's Hugh Lawrence for the Golden Boot. With 25 goals and six assists, Turner was virtually dead even with Lawrence, who narrowly lost on goals with 24 but dominated in assists with 13. Still, the electors, who include managers, journalists, league officials, and several other individuals, chose Turner, who certainly deserved the prize. Perhaps after this second consecutive award, he will finally earn a place on the national team roster.
Golden Glove -Jay Neuman, 24, FC Deska - Is there any doubt remaining that Jay Neuman is the greatest keeper in the GPL today, if not ever? This season, he and the Northern Wall put out a magnificent effort, finishing with only 18 goals against; a new record, just edging out their 2013 total under Ludwig Strauss. The team has now won the Golden Boot six times, and the league itself has only been in operation for eight years. It seems that as long as Neuman is in the net, Deksa will have no trouble keeping scoring at an untouchable low. Better yet, he is only 24; can he perhaps get even better?
Defender of the Year - Fritz Cole, 28, Willingham AC
Midfielder of the Year - Jordan Spellman, 21, Tolven
Newcomer of the Year - Grant Faulkner, 22, Gordonopia FC
Foreigner of the Year - Thorvar Prijholm (MYT), 23, FC Deska
Manager of the Year - Fritz Kohler, FC Deska

Inter League Cup
While the GPL was winding to a close, the best teams from each of the eight regional leagues met in Gordonopia City for the Inter League Cup. This annual fixture determines the promotion to the GPL, as well as United Gordonopia's entrants to the Series B Champions' Cup.
In the end, the final came down to Iron Harbor SC, who gained a fair amount of fame when their stadium was used in the recent Baptism of Fire, and the little known SK Sandhurst; one of the last 'small town' teams playing in a high-level league. The heavy favorites, Iron Harbor, carried the day, and with it the automatic promotion spot. Sandhurst earned a playoff with GPL 16th place Reichsburg FC, but in the end fell 1-0.
