Kishraeli Premier Liga - Season 6 - Part 3

This our final post in covering the Kishraeli Premier Liga this season, and we will be giving you a run through of how the season went for the teams of Kishrael. As you already know, due to stunning performances from Kishraeli teams in the last season of UICA sanctioned international matches, Kishrael's coefficient rocketed, and, with a little help from the UICA's new rules regarding Champions Cup place allocation, Kishrael are now eligible to enter two teams into the prestigious Champions Cup. This has inevitably driven competition up a notch, and now teams like Maccabi Shatilova and Bnei Drazabari have the opportunity to perform on a stage higher than that of the Globe Cup, where they have participated thus far. The battle for fourth which was often a dramatic part of the season now looks like a battle for fifth, however, with the arrival of Ironi Bailat Kamioni to the league, who, for a promoted team, exude lots of quality, the competition may be just as fierce, and we certainly hope so. At the other end of the table, Aleph are once again one of the favourites to be relegated, but, surprisingly, so are Beitar David Zaqeven, who surprised everyone with their fourth place finish lasts season. Evidently, their poor performance in the Globe Cup (the only Kishraeli team not to contribute to the coefficient) has saw them drop down in the predictions. Newcomers Hapoel Batsheba may also find themselves hovering above relegation, but their defensive style of play may prevent them from becoming like most candidates for relegation, and conceding goal upon goal upon goal. We've done more than enough talking though, let us see how the season went!

The season got off to something of a predictable start, Hapoel Maksiouta claimed the early lead, three high scoring early victories (4-0, 5-4 and 5-0 over Hapoel Batsheba, Beitar David Zaqeven and Echuri Nazreaheth respectively) gave way to a draw with Maccabi Nyetanyu, and two losses in the next four games, one to rivals Maccabi Shatilova, and a shock 2-1 loss to Ghyasyu Abirim leaving them top, but only just, and walking a terribly fine line. Maccabi Shatilova look to be the ones who could steal top spot with a game in hand, and not losing a game thus far, the only team not to as of yet. Behind them, Bnei Drazabari sit in third as expected, a solid 4-2-2 record under their belt, although vital points were dropped at Aleph Khapresian and Ironi Bailat Kamioni, plus a loss to Shatilova set them back slightly (coupled with an expected loss to Maccabi Shatilova). Shatilova FC are performing relatively well, a 4-03 record which sees them with a negative goal difference. At the other end of the table, it is quite tight, Hapoel Batsheba the current occupiers of the bottom spot, but Echuri Nazreaheth and Beitar David Zaqeven are within reach, as are Ghyasyu, who have picked up 8 points from 8 games.

The next part of the season saw Maccabi Shatilova fulfil what was expected of them, and take the lead in the Liga, something which they are often fond of doing in the mid season. Hapoel Maksiouta seem to be taking their favoured route, hanging back until the final part of the season when they can storm the league table. They have dropped some key points however, and that may cost them. The same can be said of Bnei Drazabari, who, due to their quality going forward, should be head and shoulders above fourth place Aleph, but only have a one point advantage. The very fact Aleph occupies a top four spot is beyond belief considering their financial troubles, but perhaps something has finally clicked in this team, and maybe the club can get themselves back on track, their recent performances have certainly increased attendances, and the prize money for finishing in the top half of the table could be essential to keeping the club afloat. Maccabi Nyetanyu have been very surprising in how badly they are performing, not a win in sight in the last seven games, leading to questions about Koba Atul's position at the club. They have certainly been dragged into the battle for relegation, whether they like to admit it or not. Hapoel Batsheba have made efforts to pull themselves out of the relegation zone, and now sit in 7th, and comfortably so, with an opportunity to overtake Ironi Bailat Kamioni who really haven't been living up to the hype that their promotion caused.

And as if to confirm their superiority and control, Maccabi Shatilova widened the gap to ten points, completely in control over Hapoel Maksiouta. They did, however record their first loss of the campaign, a slim 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bnei Drazabari, whose campaign is flatlining, in a tightly congested third to fifth battle. Shatilova are performing remarkably well too, and are closing in on Hapoel Maksiouta, six points behind, but with a game in hand. Aleph have fallen slightly, now out of the Globe Cup positions completely, this due to a lack of consistent results, picking up just two wins since the last table was published. Ironi Bailat Kamioni have stepped up their game it seems, and now occupy fifth, level on points with Bnei Drazabari, a good run from them seeing them attain a 6-2-1 record in their last nine games, a certainly deserved rise in the table. At the other end, things haven't changed at all, much. It is still awfully cramped at the bottom, and just five points separates last place Beitar David Zaqeven and ninth place Ghyasyu Abirim, with Echuri Nazreaheth sandwiched in the middle. It seems the media were right about them failing, a huge fall from grace for the ultra-Zionist team.

It wasn't a particularly tight title race at the end of the day, with four straight victories including one over Hondo that lead to United retaining their title with a comfortable eight point edge at the end. The big surprises though were a strong season from both Rolalas and AS Sharala with each finding their way into UICA competition for the first time in many cycles for each. Also returning to the international scene is Ibini, who found a way to sneak into seventh thanks to goal difference over the Flames of Mar Sara, who were just a tad out of sync the entire season with the departure of their Polarian winger to begin the season. Gladerial was close to being able to retain their spot in the Premiership, but ultimately the historic club just didn't have quite enough talent to maintain a run and faltered in the last six weeks of the season to return back to the lower tier. To cap off a memorable season, United rolled through the Silver Cup like a team on a mission, even going so far as completely demolishing FC Capri in the Final. It seems whatever woes the Rockers had a few years ago have been completely overcome and they are back on track to showing why they hold the rank of the best team in the UICA.

Founded in 1981 as Sucos da Vila, with the hand of then owner, Juan Chaves Bolas, a hard-working man from Andarahy, Porrada invested strongly on fields that most people would consider manly, hence their tagline: "Bebida pra Macho" ("Drinks for Man", in Portuguese), thus becoming a sponsor of more extreme things, like the NSICA Hockey League when it was males-only, the SGFL and many action movies with some of the most prestigious butt-kickers of the movie history of Northern Sunrise Islands, like Tau Lang, Bret Reynolds, Sam Harding and "The Main Dragon" Chikage Kazama, Sr. among from helping small MMA leagues of Northern Sunrise Islands.

Eventually, Juan Chaves died and her daughter, Francisca Chaves Bolas, decided to expand to other marketing ways, but mantaining the image of the company as a manly drinking company. She would manage to put the name of Porrada in the shirt of many football teams, the most succesfull one being the Afonse Batallion, who still mantain their sponsorship even to this very day.

The first season of Premiere Ligue play is halfway underway and we are seeing some surprises near the top of the table. Riopelle and Antino are fighting at the top of the table, separated by only one point. We predicted that both would be up their fighting for the Champions' Cup berth and we were correct. Riopelle has given up only 33 goals, but the real story has been the emergence of Allecto Arpagius up front. Only 19 years old, Arpagius is having the year of his life, landing near the top of the Golden Boot chart at the halfway point of the season. For Antino, Caulus Lupino is having the year that we expected him to have up front. The defense has been surprisingly strong as well, and Tiberinus Famia is absolutely shutting down opposing attackers. Sisseno is third, 5 points behind Antino. Gnaeus Figulo is having a very good season in the midfield and Publius Comitan has been a star at goalkeeper. This could be the creation of a dynasty for years to come.

Bourgalt is the big suprise so far this year. We projected Bourgalt to finish 11th this year, saying that "it won’t come this year, but the foundations for a dynasty are set in Bourgalt." The young stars for Bourgalt (Legate, Fenalon, and Wiatt) have played extremely well, and Kevin Contoid has also played well at goalkeeper, giving up only 22 goals in 19 matches. We don't know if they can keep it up, but Bourgalt fans must be happy with how their team has played so far.

Morice and Athletique are at the bottom of the table in the relegation zone. Morice has played abysmally, winning only 3 games. Neither Frank Beauregard or Severin Limoges have been able to keep the ball out of the back of the net, and fans are really upset. Cyrano Duran and Burel Daoust have not worked well together up front this year: expect one of them (at least) to be transferred at the end of the campaign. Perren Urbain will be out of a job if the team does not improve. Garand has played about as bad as expected. Franc Couture has looked out of place in the defense, and Roy Dubeau has made several mistakes that are unbecoming of a Premiere Ligue goalkeeper. Dillon Gobeille has been asking for a transfer and we do not blame him: He is the only bright spot on this team.

One pleasant surprise has been Olympique Fiacre. In our preview, we stated, "It is almost a foregone conclusion: Fiacre is going to the USL." Although their goal differential is at -22, Fiacre is currently sitting at twelfth in the table. Manager Bryce Roy can get much of the credit for their success, as his tactical work has really helped the team, especially late in games. Devere Vallier and Luc Chappuis have worked surprisingly well together on the attack, and the defense has not been nearly as bad as we thought. Good job Fiacre!

It has been said five years is the deciding point for any sports league. If it can last five years, it can last for much longer. While the MVSL has been stable so far, there are some concerns about its future. For now, however, the teams are ready to play.

Globe Cup 45: Vaian National Pitch, Kolo Lahi (capacity 112,532)
The Vaian National Pitch is the stadium of the national team and club team Kolo Lahi United. Constructed 3 years ago, it has become a symbol of the growth of football in the nation and its love for the game. The stadium was constructed for the purpose of drawing attention to the rising Vaian football program, as well as to draw potential hosting bids such as this one. The stadium has already hosted the final of the Friendly Cup 7, widely regarded by Vaian media as one of the best organized international finals in the hosting history of Maklohi Vai. The stadium is located on the water north of Kolo Lahi, the capital, and has several thoroughfares and public transit options to serve it, as well as Kolo Lahi International Airport just a 25 minute drive away. Fans will be provided with a shuttle to downtown Kolo Lahi, where there are numerous restaurants, bars, lodging, and entertainment.

The first UPL season is in the books and Antino has finished atop the standings with 87 points. Antino ran away with the title, finishing 7 points ahead of second-place Bourgalt. Caulus Lupino was the best player on Antino and is a clear frontrunner for UPL Player of the Year. Mettius Otho also had a very good year up front. The Antino defense was shaky at times, but they scored more than enough goals to win. Bourgalt continued their suprising run, rising two spots from the halfway point to finish second. Etienne Legate and Gaspar Fenalon both have cases for Midfielder of the Year, and Marlon Grief emerged as a force at forward. The Bourgalt defense was among the best in the league and we look for bright things to come from goalkeeper Kevin Contoid. Bourgalt's starting XI have matured much faster than we expected.

Beyond the top 2, Attican, Riopelle, Latinor, and Sisseno all finished about where we expected. Regale Larnoud had a disappointing year, finishing seventh. Their real weakness was the midfield, and we look for them to dip into the transfer pot to bring in a foreign midfielder. Marcus Genedico did have a very good year for Regale.

A.C. Fontaine United and Athletique Garand will be relegated to the Secondaire Ligue next year. United had a very disappointing second half of the season, dropping four spots to nineteenth. United's lack of star power really hurt them, and they could just not score enough to get points. Their defense was awful. Look for Troy Hatton and Rolando Desautel to transfer out to other Premiere Ligue clubs. Garand continued where they had started, gaining only 15 points in the last 19 games. The defense and offense were about equally bad here. Dillon Gobeille will almost surely be gone by next offseason, and the rest of the team is only equal to a mid-rate Secondaire Ligue team. I think that we'll be saying goodbye to Athletique for a long time.

Triangle Électronique (French for "Triangle Electronics") is a Valladar electronics company headquartered in Bezieres, Foix, which was established in 1977 producing radios and TVs for customers within the Valladar state of Foix. Within 10 years, it expanded its business to refrigerators and washing machines and started selling its products nationwide. Currently, the company operates under three divisions: Communications, Home Entertainment, and Home Appliances, and current Triangle products include computers, TVs, home theaters, Blu-Ray players, telephones (both landline and mobile), home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens, air conditioners, vacuum cleaners, and even videogame consoles, such as the nationwide famed TriStation.

Triangle has been committed to sport for several years, and especially to football. As a proof of this, the company has sponsored many professional Foixien football teams for varied amounts of time, and has also signed a sponsorship contract with the Liga Federal de Valladares, becoming a main sponsor for it. The company has also invested money into different tournaments and teams (both grassroots and amateur) in the Foix state, considering that football is a very powerful tool to break social barriers and reduce inequality. This, and the wish to increase the company's global presence are the company's main reasons to submit a bid to become a UICA partner, sponsoring an important competition worldwide such as the Globe Cup.

Well, with another season of the admittedly boring ELFA League about to begin, it's time to look back at the most recent UICA cycle and see how the teams fared internationally:
RGS Athletic: Yet another group stage appearance for the best team in Lodgertian football, but this time it's in the Globe Cup, having beaten out Ancharmunn's Seersha County before losing on away goals to Litora United of Kinitaria. They finished second in their GC group, with 10 points from a 3-1-2 record, before losing to eventual GC runners-up Chuckio FC in the first knockout round.
Norrion Rovers: Their TQCC appearance didn't end well, falling at their first hurdle against Osarius' Iton Valley FC. However, they also made it to the Globe Cup group stage, registering wins over Earent's Atteregav Numa and Worszary's FC Matagni. They topped their group with a 3-2-1 record, in the process recording a very notable victory against the Polarian team SK Franz Josef City. However, they too fell at the first hurdle in the knockout rounds, losing to Mi'ato City of Kinitaria.
VLC FC: A very short international outing, losing to Osarius' Greeningham City in the globe cup's eliminatory stage.
FM Town: In the Globe Cup, and played respectably, beating Sangti's Real Tafodal before being knocked out by Emerickton Phantoms of Lukquarel in the Selective Stage.
Monksville United: The third team in the globe cup, they lasted about as long as VLC did, losing their only tie to FC Basel of Westfield House in the Playoff Access Stage.
Lodgertia United: Second division champions Lodgertia United were hoping for a good run in the SBCC to build confidence before the battle against relegation. It didn't last, Bretford Royals of Valladares seeing to that in the third preliminary round.
SS City: Second place SS City did much better than the champions, putting out Kinitaria's Sankta Stefani (being the only EL team to win a tie against a Kinitarian team this cycle) before losing to Preußen Kitzbuhel of Mytannion in the same round as Lodgertia United.
Olympia FC: Didn't last long in the SBCC either, losing in the second preliminary round to Miners FC of Astograth.
Polkation FC: The only SBCC team from us not to be promoted, they did themselves proud, putting out Worszary's Due Stelle Filanti CS before being beaten by Ossidiacqua's Magisterio AC in the second preliminary round.

With that over and done with, it's time to move onto the season proper. Who would win in the top flight? Well, RGS Athletic probably, they almost always do. And yet again, the real race is for that second TQCC spot, with VLC FC looking to break Norrion Rovers' recent stronghold on that position and the likes of UR Town and FM Town outside contenders as usual. As for relegation, well given the small point gap between the GC places and the relegation places, any team that has a bad run of form risks falling into the mire. So any of the bottom six or seven teams from last season, if not more.

Not exactly a crushing victory by RGS' usual standards, but it was still a 5 point margin, and they'd have wrapped up the title with a few more games to spare had they not had a bad run of form in the last few matches. However, the big story this time around is that VLC FC did beat out Norrion Rovers for second place and a spot in the TQCC, taking a 4 point victory over Rovers. The other big story of the season was UR Town, who were seventh last season and qualified for the GC the season before that, only just surviving relegation with other results going their way on the last day after losing 2-0 to SS City, in particular Nile Bridge drawing against Olympia FC. Seniors FC can celebrate, as they qualify for top flight international competition for the first time in their history (having previously been in the SBCC), after many seasons of near-relegation misses. Interestingly, all three of the teams who were promoted last season survived, Olympia FC even finishing in the top half. It's not such good news for Royal Jam FC, relegated two seasons after a brilliant Globe Cup run, and Nile Bridge, who have been relegated after a long run in the top flight. They join Xilon OC, who seemingly just can't break out of their promotion-relegation yo-yoing, in the second division next season.

After being relegated seven seasons ago and being stuck in mid-table since, it's a real surprise to a few people that FC Tavernia return to the Premier Division as Second Division champions, beating off challenges from Half Boy FC and Polkation FC to take the title (in fact, Half Boy were in the lead going into the final matchday, 2 points ahead of Tavernia and 4 ahead of Polkation, but Polkation's victory over Half Boy and Tavernia's win against Losing the Game FC ensured FC Tavernia won). Polkation FC, another one of the yo-yo teams between the top two divisions, get promoted again two seasons after relegation and 4th place last season, and Half Boy FC bounce straight back to the top flight after relegation the previous season. Indionion Athletic put in a good performance on their return from the third tier to finish 4th and qualify for the SBCC, ahead of NT United on head to head results. However, the third team relegated from the Premier League last season suffered massively this season, with Pontifucia United free-falling spectacularly to the third tier. Oldbridge, four seasons after being promoted, fall back to the third tier, despite finishing fifth from bottom.

Season 1957

For the second straight year, it is a team from the northern half of the Liga that takes the championship, much to the dismay of the Pasargan fans across the country. To make matters worse, a Pasargan side was not even able to capture the Copa as Santos was able to do last season with their thrashing of Turkish in that Final. None the less, if it is any consolation to our Pasargan brothers and sisters, they are sending a fourth team to the Globe Cup as a result of El Nacional's victory in the Copa, as the provisional GC spot up for grabs in the Copa was taken by them and no other Sargossan sides finished within the top ten of the Liga table to qualify for GC consideration. It may yet not be the best outcome for the Pasargan delegation, as the recent international cycles have been anything but favorable to them, with even strong sides like CAP, Turkish, and Tanrısal finding it difficult to get any sort of measure of success in any of the trio of international competitions the clubs partake in. All that said, it was a great cycle for the sides from Stein-los, as each and every single one of their clubs will be heading off to an international competition, which is sure to bring in plenty of extra revenue to the already brustling de facto footballing capital of Pasarga, though Paulinthal would have a few disagreements on that title. It may well be that the fate of the Pasarga international success lies in the hands of a city that the capital and biggest port city in the nation both see as a lower rival. How strange the fates much seem to them both Paulinthal and Torgos now!

Tropical Trophy

The Tropical Trophy is a seasonal competition between the Vilitan Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions. There has been some controversy as to whether it is a "Season Ending" event or a "Season beginning" event, though it has tended to be closer to the start of the new season, then the end of the previous one.

Jungle Strike FC - v. - Makosile United

Tivali Ring Stadium, Alikki-Corra, Vilita

For this seasons Tropical Trophy, The V-League Stellar Division Champions (Makosile United) were invited to face off against the defending Vilitan Cup Champions (Jungle Strike FC). Jungle Strike FC were making their all-time leading 22nd appearance in the Tropcial Trophy. Having appeared in over half of the Tropical Trophy's ever held, Strike also held the record for most Tropical Trophy titles with 13. Strike went into the match as two-time defending champions, having defeated Mliona-Lpaka during Season 37 and Turoki United during Season 38. For Makosile, their lone Tropical Trophy victory in 3 attempts came against Strike during Season 32.

The Champs v. ...The Super-Champs

It was an uncharacteristicly un-changed side for the Venom to kick-off the Season 39 campaign, with only two new faces joining from the Season 38 Cup Winning squad.

Super-star midfielder Steffyn Siazzu pulled on the Strike colors for the first time after transfering from Cednia Beach. The well-accomplished Siazzue started his career at the Lirai Asku Castle helping the Owls to the Season 29 Cup Final before making the switch to the Turoki Tide. There, Siazzu was part of all 3 Stellar Division Championship sides in Turoki.

The other debutant was 17 year old Turorian starlet Enluta Makakio. Venom head coach Mikala Abellan clearly saw something in the young Turorian, looking potentially long-term at who would replace the aging Viji-mara Lawaai and Yves Gadois, who wore the captains armband on the day..

For the Stellar Division Champions, it was long-time goalkeepr Atacir Tivalan with the captains armband as the Makos formed themselves into the "Shark Bite" formation - a 3-2-2-1-2 with Ossidiacqua's Lorenzo Borromeo and Equestrian States' Rainbow Blitz assigned to two-way duties in engineering the play from the outside.

Another storyline would see the Farf-battle between Makosile midfielder Ichi Tuzzio and Strike's Friekder Dandalleion.

Vilitan/Turorian Dual National referee Nuliko Meteorik officiated the Tropical Trophy for the second consecutive season.

:: The Kickoff

Makosile United clearly saw the Tropical Trophy as a chance to solidify their reputation as a major threat not only in Vilita but throughout the multiverse in international competition as well. The Makos were the reigning Stellar Division Champions for just the second time in team history. The previous time, however, the title defense did not go well. The Makos spent most of Season 32 fighting against relegation instead of defending their title. While they would survive, it was not the type of title defending performance that the Season 39 Makos side was looking to repeat.

Looking to apply the pressure, Makosile Xcnaoi Bansoa took an early long range shot that forced Kajaxo Imaslavii into full stretch to keep it out of the goal.

The match was played mostly in the midfield for long stretches of the opening half, with neither side getting much in the way of attacking chances. In fact, it was individual moments of skill from Bansoa that provided the early excitement. Another Bansoa chance 20 minutes into the match was once again dealt with by Imaslavii.

It took nearly the entire first half for any excitement to come from the Venom, after an odd situation on the edge of the Makosile penalty area that saw Yves Gadois walk away with a Yellow Card despite being fouled by JD Fuller. Gadois was livid with Meteorik's decision to award a free kick instead of a penalty and ended up talking himself into the referee's notebook before the free kick was taken.

The free kick ended up more like an erratic pinball as Gadois found Adjei who had his attempt blocked and it found its way back to Gadois. Gadois then found Dandalleion, who flicked it ahead to Winauat who completely bundled the goalscoring opportunity and the scores remained level at the half.

:: The Second Half

The Venom came out a bit more lively in the second half, pressuring the Makosile goal and forcing Tivalan to make a pair of early saves from the head of Gadois. Tivalan was controlling the play well from the backline, however, not allowing any rebounds and keeping his defenders placed well to limit the quality of the Strike chances.

As Strike turned up their game, so did Rainbow Blitz and JD Fuller of Makosile who stepped up to match the level of their opponents keeping the playing field evenly match.

Neither coach was willing to make a change to their side, likely out of fear of making the wrong substitution - and perhaps a case of feeling that the best players on the pitch were already on the pitch.

Coming up from the back, New Montreal States' Henri-Rene Lavaillere was clearly feeling the bug. Strike head coach Mikala Abellan likely enjoyed watching Lavaillere set off his long-range rockets as they were proving to be the only shots of the day that Tivalan was unable to handle, opening the opportunity for a juicy rebound or corner kick to materialize.

As full-time approached and the teams had gone upwards of quarter-of-an-hour without producing anything remotely exciting for the fans to cheer about, Xcnaio Bansoa attempted a spectacular Bicycle Kick out of nothing to the pleasure of the fans. Bansoa's effort ended up blazing well over the net and, while the fans were thrilled to see some action, some of the players took offense to the somewhat dangerous move. Siazzu and Tuzzio ended up in a shoving match over the incident and both received a yellow card for their troubles to hold as a burden on themselves as the match ended into Extra Time without a goal being scored.

:: Extra Time

The atmosphere was tense as neither side seemed willing to put it on the line to take the opportunity that could win the match.

That, or the teams were just so evenly matched that they had an inability to break out of the midfield and into the attacking third without a hopeful long ball over the top that was being cleared out 9 times out of 10 by the opposing defenders.

Only a Sirkii Moliaudo free kick provided any excitement in the first half, but the excitement fizzled quickly as Moliaudo's attempt ricocheted off the wall and was cleared away to safety by Riksa Valjariia.

Otherwise, the match was certainly not one of those "Beautiful" 0-0 draws where each side had their fair share of chances but for some spectacular defending and goalkeeping. The match was certainly playing out as the type of 0-0 draw that everyone wants to forget real quick.

At half time in Extra-Time, the teams new they had just 15 minutes to find a way through otherwise tehy'll have just participated in a florified training session with only Penalty Kicks standing between themselves and Tropical Trophy glory.

After being played in by Lita Adjei 5 minutes into the second half of the extra session, Riksa Valjariia figured it was one of those 'now or never' situations and immediately unleashed on a an impossible-to-stop-shot that would have given Strike the lead if only Valjariia had placed his effort on target.

It was the only serious attempt left in an otherwise drab affair, Sirkii Moliaudo taking a hopeful shot at the goal in the closing seconds before Meteorik blew his whistle and indicated on behalf of all the utterly bored in attendance that he was speeding things along: It was going to be settled in a Penalty Shootout.

With the captains armband and his team shooting first, Yves Gadois stepped up to set the tone for Strike. Sending Tivalan the wrong way, the crowd erupted as the ball hit the back of the net for the first time in over 2 hours of play and Strike took the 1-0 shootout lead.

The pressure, though slight, seemed to get to Ichi Tuzzio as the Makosile midfielder was unable to equalize, not even forcing Imaslavii into a save as he put his spot-kick over the bar to the bemusement of his Makos teammates and supporters alike.

Tuzzio's countrymate Friekder Dandalleion was not going to make the same mistake and Strike were up 2-1 after Baiiub Jual Knakok finally put Makosile on the board.

However, things would change from there as Riksa Valjariia missed for Strike allowing Kadi Molali to pull things back level at 2-2.

After taking shots at the goal all day long, the confidence that was brimming from Henri-Rene Lavaillere was rewarded with a spot amongst the penalty takers and Lavaillere took his chance well to give Strike a brief lead that was cancelled out by Retiso Buran.

Azestella Ajhabekk then converted for Strike leaving it up to Xcnaio Bansoa to convert for the Makos in order to keep the shootout alive. Bansoa stepped up then took a fast-pace run up to the ball and fired it into the back of the net with a certain conviction and determination that it was not going to be him that cost his team the Trophy on this day.

It was time for Sudden Death. Siazzu and Borromeo both scored, followed by Winauat and Blitz also converting.

Seven kicks in and it was time for the youngster. 17 year old Turorian Enluta Makakio stepping up for a penalty kick in a major competition for the first time ever. There was likely a reason that the striker was not amongst the penalty takers originally but eventually, the time had to come. Makakio's nerves shone through and he struck the ball straight down the middle making an easy save for Tivalan who pumped his fist in the air while cradeling the ball in the other hand.

Now, it all rested on the foot of Mangolana's JD Fuller. Having played over 10 seasons in Sile, Fuller was involved in both of Makosile's Stellar Division titles as well as their previous Tropical Trophy victory. Now, another piece of silverware was available for the taking, all Fuller had to do was beat the best goalkeeper in the world, Audioslavia's Kajaxo Imaslavii.

No problem. Fuller wheeled away in excitement as Makosile had taken down Strike to win the Tropical Trophy, backing up their Stellar Division title with the Silverware they needed to prove this Makosile team was not going to defend lightly.

The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali Ring. The Football Association regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchup. In addition to its World Cup matches, 'The Ring' hosted the 40th UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup Final. DAINER FOOTBALL NEWSWIRE

Hello, and welcome to the seasonal newswire that purports to showcase what's going on in Daineri football to the world. This season had a rocky start thanks to a nation-wide internet blackout and a fire in the Daineri FA headquarters, but thankfully nobody got hurt and most of the data on the upcoming season could be recovered.

A few things happened then, which are worth a mention. First being the retirement of Ka Az, one of the first standout foreign starts in Daineri domestic football. The Apoxian made history by winning a Cup title with Cachimbo Amplo and helping propel the team, formerly considered minnows, to the position of most sucessful Daineri club of the UICA era.

Another was the return of a classic Daineri team - Ptolomaios joins the ranks of the regular leagues again after so much financial trouble. Good news for local fans. Management is set on recovering lost time and placing the team back where it belongs.

The transfer window brought in some changes; players who have been long-time staples of a single team have jumped ship - the most surprising of all being Costan, who went from Xistrumbigonça to join the ranks of Voley, while Zed and Drene left the same Voley for different places. More foreign players have been brought in, the most talked about surely being Diamondback from Equestrian States, giving Estrela D'Alva the honor of being the first Daineri team to have an actual dragon in their roster.

Without further ado, here are the teams of this season's Daineri Super League!

XISTRUMBIGONÇA
Region: Lem.
Colors: Black
Nickname(s): The Black Army, The Machine
Stadium: Piteka Coliseum (cap. 100.000), Cidade Pupidu
Overview: The all-black uniforms were picked by club founder Arec Piteka because he thought they would make the team more intimidating. It seems to have worked, because Xistrumbigonça went on to be the most sucessful team in Dainer. They're also the richest, which allows them to bring the most seasoned, sucessful players together.

Season Overview: The departure of star performer Costan and long-time goalkeeper van Riet is a huge blow for the team. Sakamura, the first egress from the Tiarmare academy, will have a hard time filling such big shoes.

KORRIGA
Region: Lem.
Colors: Red and white
Nickname: Racers
Stadium: Velodrome (Cap: 76.000), Ferros
Overview: The football branch of the traditional Korriga motor racing team, it is the newest of the so-called Great Four (along with Xistrumbigonça, Sport Wios and University). It has been the only team to challenge Xistrumbigonça for the top spot so far.

UNIVERSITY
Region: Inglebsu.
Colors: White and blue
Nickname: All-whites
Stadium: Marble Dome (Cap: 80.000), Acropolis
Overview: An institution of Daineri football, one of its very oldest professional clubs. It was the dominant force before Xistrumbigonça came along.

Nickname: Dragons, The Nobles
Stadium: Sky and Earth Hall (cap. 84.000), Urdu
Overview: A traditional club, which had never left the top echelon until lately. Founded by draco-humans, it's associated with them to this day.

ISPER

Nickname: The Old School
Stadium: Sapiens Arena (25.000), Urdu, and Social Arena (80.000), Undina
Overview: Born from the fusion of two amateur school teams, it became full professional and never stopped ascending. Their greatest strength lies on the youth teams, a veritable factory of great players.

ESTRELA D'ALVA

Colors: Red and Black
Nickname: Scarlet and Black, The Boys from Down the Street
Stadium: New Fountain (cap. 92.000), Cidade Pupidu
Overview: One day, a bunch of kids that played on the streets of Cidade Pupidu decided to start a team. Funny how far dreams can take you.

Overview: The pride of the Skëdar, eternal nemeses of Xistrumbigonça. Unlike their main rivals, they rely a lot on home-grown talent, which helps strengthen its position as a popular club in the region.

Stadium: Metropolitan Sports Complex (cap. 66.000), Urdu
Overview: They were a tennis and volleyball club that took up soccer as a way to show up the neighboring clubs. Eventually, the soccer division split off and went professional.

Overview: The inaugural champions of the Dainer Cup. A traditional club with lots of retrospect.

Overview: When they played Zill in the first Dainer Cup final, they were already rivals. One of the very first professional teams of the country.

Overview: While small in football, this club is a potency in beach and water sports, and from that they derive much of their popularity.

Overview: From a small grass patch in one of the city's many parks, to professional football in a sparkling new stadium, this team has made it their mission to "spread the joy of football".

Overview: The first supporter-owned club in the country has a long history of dour but persistent football. Just how the fans like it.

Overview: They became champions in their Cup debut, beating mighty Xistrumbigonça 3-0 in the final. Since then, they built a reputation as the eternal underdogs of Daineri football.

**First Season in Stellar Division

Makosile United entered Season 39 as reigning champions of the Vilitan League and backed up their domestic crown by lifting the Tropical Trophy after a Penalty Shootout win over Strike FC.

Strike, however, still had plenty to build their momentum around. After winning the Vilitan Cup during Season 38, Strike went on to claim two international competitions in the build up to Season 39.

Having only just completed their Vilitan Cup run, Strike FC participated in the Aeropag Invitational. Frequently being part of the Consolation Bracket, the Venom did something uncharacteristic in topping Group D and qualifying for the Playoff Bracket.

After dominating the Four Bit Irregulars by a 4-0 scoreline in the Semi-Finals, Strike were matched up against Yuba United in a truly historic Aeropag matchup. Strike went up 1-0 on a Relmar Winaut goal but the scores were level at the half. Vilita National Team star Yves Gadois made the final contribution, however, putting home the winner 15 minutes from time as Strike became the first Vilitan Club since Arcticala Inlet to come home with the Gold in the Aeropag.

Despite the disappointment of losing out in the Champions Cup quarter finals to the Surtsey Island Gulls of the Polar Islandstates, Strike's off-season International triumph's were not done just yet. A change in Venue for the Cygnus Cup was all the Venom needed to rise to the top. With many of the players familiar with the South Lawn in Spit already from previous international matches, Strike FC outgunned Firewood City of Osarius 5-2 in extra time to lift the title in Wight. Viji-mara Lawaai scored the winner just minutes into the extra session and Lita Adjei added two more in the second half of extra-time.

Other teams had their sights set on the title too, however. The Turoki Tide sprung for Wightling starter Lorccán Cotterill. Kiiara-Torra also searched for a Curse to lift them to the next level, snapping up Manalaus Carne from the same Wightling club that produced current V-League star Piran Mackenzie in addition to the addition of Equestrian State's heavy-hitter Thunderlane.

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
The Turoki Tide opened Season 39 with a bang, thrashing 5 goals past a helpless Morata Valley side. Wight's Lorccán Cotterill converted a natural hattrick on his Vilitan debut to round out the scoring after Kiroki Mitaroka missed a first-half penalty that would have put the Tide up 3-0.

Kiiara-Torra's renovated lineup also provided an instant contribution as Thunderlane scored both goals in the 2-0 victory over Arcticala Inlet. The real stunner of the day came in Mliona where the defending champs suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mliona-Lpaka, immediately raising questions as to whether another 'epic fail' of a title defense was on the cards in Sile.

Never one to let their opponents get too far in front of them, Strike FC eased to a 3-0 victory over Jlinal Cove. New Strike FC captain Yves Gadois matching Cotterill's exploits with a hattrick of his own.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 6:
It didn't take long for Strike to become the last team with a perfect record in the Stellar Division. In fact, after a 4-1 win over the Yeaddin Owls on Matchday 2, the Venom were the last team left with an unblemished record. Makosile United recovered from their opening day defeat to take down the Tide 1-0 giving supporters and pundits alike some hope that they would still be able to mount a strong title defense.

The Tide, on the otherhand, were quickly losing their title credentials despite the strong opening day results. A 3-0 defeat at the Lonngeylin Coliseum on Matchday 4 put the Tide 4 points behind Strike who had also lost their perfect record previously at Mliona-Lpaka. Defeats at Arcticala Inlet and Jlinal Cove saw Turoki United and the Yeaddin Owls sitting in the relegation zone as the final teams still searching for a win.

The two teams met on Matchday 5 at which point it became evident that this could be the last season with the Yeaddin Owls in the Stellar Division. It was a drubbing as the Owls went down 0-4 to become the last winless team in the division.

All eyes, however, were on the Tropical Trophy rematch in Sile. Both teams were evenly matched and it looked like another goalless draw was on the cards. However, this time, it was Makosile's Atacir Tivalan who slipped up and let a rebound fall at the feet of Lita Adjei who made no mistake, giving the 3 points to Strike who stayed atop the table along with Kiiara-Torra who were keeping pace on the heels of former Strike goalkeeper Nycflala Kater.

Cednia Beach and Makosile met on Matchday 6 in a 3 v 4. Battle in which one team was all but certain to lose ground on the leaders. The match played out as a goalless stalemate. The top 4 teams certainly seemed to share in the adage that 'Defense wins Championships' with just 6 goals conceded in 24 matches between Strike, Kiiara-Torra, Cednia Beach and Makosile.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 10:
The Yeaddin Owls made a splash on Matchday 7 taking down second-placed Kiiara-Torra for their first win of the season and giving manager Alex Ostling a reprieve for at least one more week as the Owls still languished in the relegation zone.

The Owls built on that momentum on Matchday 8 and came out on top in a 3-2 thriller that saw them climb out of the relegation zone and drop Eastal Lunar down in their place.

After surviving the first 9 matchdays unbeaten, Strike FC were finally undone by a streaking Turoki United side putting together their 6th consecutive victory, clawing to within one point of the Venom atop the table in the process. The top 2 sat just 3 points clear of Kiiara-Torra who were silently keeping the pace while Cednia Beach was showing a strong challeng in 4th.

At the other end of the table, the Yeaddin Owls had the opportunity to pull even further clear of the relegation zone but were held 2-2 by bottom side Morata Valley.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:
Turoki United moved to the top of the table on Matchday 12 after their 4-0 drubbing of Arcticala Inlet gave them their 8th straight win while Strike FC were taken down by a 16th minute Manalous Carne goal in Kiiara, allowing Kiiara-torra to draw level with the Venom two points behind Turoki.

All three sides found themselves involved in draws on Matchday 13, marking the mid-point of the season and ending Turoki United's winning streak.

At the bottom of the table, Morata Valley had fallen 6 points adrift of 12th place Eastal Lunar with Jlinal cove wedged between them and safety as well.

Audioslavia's Jean-Luc Cezanne was doing all he could to keep Morata Valley in the Stellar Division but was getting little offensive support. The Turoki Tide's Lorccan Cotterill led the goalscoring charts at mid-season with 7 goals in 13 matches with a 5 way tie behind him on 4 goals.

**First Season in Vilitan League

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
Erfaon Lisdiren kept a clean sheet in a battle between the experienced Farfadillis goalkeeper and the inexperienced Turorian youngster, G.Q. Disterfred II. Lisdiren's Inland Peaks came away with the 1-0 victory over Inura Forests in the otherwise indecisive opening matchday in the Vilitan Declasse that saw 6 draws in 7 matches.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 8:
Marine Coast United and Mavaloiao led the back after 8 Matchday's in an especially tight Declasse battle where no one team was shining above the rest.

Turori's Inura Forests were the only team that found themselves more than 2 points behind the team in front of them in the standings, and it was especially troubling for the Forests as they were staring up from the bottom of the table without a win.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:

The Inura Forests finally got their first win of the Season to catch back up to within 2 points of safety at the bottom of the table, defeating Lopinka by a 1-0 scoreline.

It wasn't enough to get them out of the relegation zone by the seasons mid-point, however, where they found themselves 3 points behind Nusira Lionta and the safety of the 12th position. The Forests were joined in the relegation zone by fellow Turorian club Sokattack Mliona.

Vilitan Cup Group Stage:
Pod 1: Mliona-Lpaka and Lonngeylin Coast easily took care of non-league opponents Surf Jettica and Tkaob Inland by 3-0 scorelines to advance to the knockout stage.
Pod 2: The Gibbons brothers Jake, Abraham and Aaron were embarassed by Non-League side Cittea Locals as the Kionao Locals crashed out of the Cup. Season 37 Cup Winners Turoki United survived, ousting non-leaguers Laiotia.
Pod 3: Strike FC's incredible streak in the Pod's continued as the defending Cup Champions held a perfect record for the 7th straight season. However, their clean-sheet record was stopped at 8 as the Corra Rangers managed a consolation goal in their 6-1 thrashing. Incredibly, however, it would be that goal that would be enough to see the Rangers through to the knockout stage over Declasse side Irottea FC.
Pod 4: Kiiara-Torra were stunned at home by the Orbital Kickers in a 1-0 scoreline that saw the Kickers, the amateur side made up mostly of members of the VOIA workforce, advance to the knockout round for just the second time in the modern era. FC Almintora, who defeated Cittea by a 1-0 scoreline, would also join them.
Pod 5: The Turorian curse was broken by Mliona-Lpaka during Season 36 but many suggest that Kionao Locals Cup-Final defeat one season later was a sign that the Curse was back. Sokattack Mliona and Cedniavella would likely be inclined to agree being ousted from Pod 5 by Eastal Lunar and non-leaguers Marta Seraai who advanced to the knockout round for just the 3rd time in club history.
Pod 6: The Turorian curse continued in Pod 6 as the Inura Forests were dominated by former league side Terrarokka Spirit in a 4-0 result at Terrasport Park. The young Turorian side crashed out along with Declasse side Lopinka Rovers while Colonial Sile led the charge to advance along with the Spirit.
Pod 7: It was Lonngeylin carnage in Pod 7 as Cednia Beach AFC and Turoki Isle made quick work of Lonngeylin City and Lonngeylin United to advance to the knockout rounds.
Pod 8: Makosile went on a rampage in Pod 8 scoring 10 goals and conceding none to lead the way. They would be joined by Tivali City who advanced over an Inland Peaks side that conceded four goals despite the addition of Farf goalkeeper Erfaon Lisdiren.
Pod 9: Rising Stellar Division side Morata Valley couldn't esscape Pod 9 as Arcticala Inlet and Mavaloiao took charge to advance.
Pod 10: Vilitan goalkeeping prospect Cilamara Issah struggled against Non-League side Corra Rovers, conceding four goals in a 4-1 defeat and resulting in Marine Coast United being eliminated from the Cup at the first hurdle. The Turoki Tide made no such mistake, being victorious over Kiiarana City at the Turoki Community Complex.
Pod 11: Placed as tradition in the 11th Pod, the Yeaddin Owls came out on top with a 1-0 victory over Nusira Lionta thanks to a second half goal from veteran Saugeais striker Kuzman Ruslan. Non-League side Rammsissil ran out 2-1 winners at home against Stellar Division side Jlinal Cove to advance as well.

Vilitan Cup Round 2:
The second round of the Vilitan Cup saw a pair of Upsets by Non-League club, and a third upset in the Turoki Derby.

Turoki Isle ousted Stellar Division high-flyers Turoki United on penalty kicks at the Turoki National to join Lonngeylin Coast, who defeated the Corra Rangers, in the Round of 16.

From there, it was a non-league fairy tale as the Terrarokka Spirit ousted Declasse Side Mavaloiao 2-0 and the Corra Rovers ousted Declasse side Tivali City 1-0.

Other non-league winners included Marta Seraai, who defeated Cittea Locals on penalty kicks and Rammsissil who ousted the Orbital Kickers 1-0.

Vilitan Cup Round of 16:
It took 120 minutes to settle things at the Arcticala Electrical Stadium where Strike FC finally got the goal they needed from Viji-mara Lawaai to continue the defense of their Cup title.

Extra time was also needed in Almintora where the Declasse side FC Almintora was hosting the Turoki Tide and doing their all to pull off the upset. The quality of the Stellar Division side eventually shone through, and it was Wights Lorccan Cotterill having a career-defining season, his first in Vilita, who scored the winner just minutes before a shootout would have been required.

Elswhere, former league side Rammsissil advanced to the Quarter Finals for the first time since Season 12 after an all-non-league tie with Marta Seraai. Turoki Isle upset Stellar Division side Cednia Beach while Makosile put three goals past Lonngeylin Coast to easily advance.

It seems that Umber has become a revolving door these days. After Umber FC lost pretty much their entire back line over the course of two seasons, Lumber have lost 40% of their midfield in one offseason. Gæƒ Kirkland will be spending the twilight of his career in New Sideburn, where the aggressive style of play will be a breath of fresh air for the man holding second place in the Falconian career red-card leaderboards. Meanwhile, the younger Severi Næss is off to play with his national team teammate Atticus Koenigsted with Iturributa United. And unlike da Bears, who dipped into their farm system to find replacements, the Lumberjacks went international to fill the gaps, to the land of magical horses. They managed to pull a young prospect off of a recently promoted team, stealing Stardust from Ponyville Galaxy, officially giving the Lumberjacks the record for most legs on a Falconian team. Surprisingly, the most important deal they had with the Equestrians had to do with a human--rising star Candace Rivers joining the Brown and Green ranks, fresh off a fine season with Fillydelphia HC (that's Hoofball Club, for those of you not caught up on Equestrian terminology). That big Lumbering midfield will be revolving around Rivers, apparently, which might be a step up offensively from Kirkland's old tactics. Or maybe she'll harden their legendary defense even further. Only time will tell. A bit further south a little to the west, locally famous Hans Elliot apparently caught the eye of a Polarian scout. Though he was never that big a name on the national scale (and thusly, a no-name internationally), he had been a big part of the Falcus FC machine, albeit overshadowed first by Svidga Svendersson and then by Taru Gensch. But his time has finally come, and he will become the fifth Falconian to play in a top-3 league (following Baez in Astograth, McClain in Valladares, and Key and Kouzmanoff in Gordonopia) by joining FC1 Surtsey in Polar Islandstates. Taking up his slot under Taru will be another islander who's been spending time on yet more islands: teenager Jonas Aenö, a Farve fresh out of Project +90, a scheme someone in the Northern Sunrise Islands thought up to... do something. I'm not sure what, to be honest, but some good players are coming out of it.

As for my projections for the upcoming season, I think the new core for the Lumberjacks will be just the spark they need to net another championship. It might take a game or two for the Equestrians to get accustomed to their teammates, but the Equestrian States are one of the most well-known leagues for producing quality midfielders (second only to Falcus, perhaps), so they should find their stride quickly. The Wingers and Reedring FC will be duking it out for our brand-new second slot for the Champion's Cup, while perennial-fifth-placer Nestingham will no doubt be overjoyed that fifth is now good enough for the Globe Cup. Who's going to finish in fourth, then, you may ask? Will Falcus FC continue their surprising return to the top half? Will Upham improve on their own surprise sixth-place from last season? Will Marriet bounce back after an abysmal year? The safe bet is probably the Falcons. But then, I’ve never been one to play it safe. So I’m going to go out on a limb and say Lywik will break out of their mid-table woes to claim their first top-4 finish in years.

Aside from being home to the Arçon football team, Arrowpoint Place is also the main track and field venue for Olympic delegation of Saugeais. Located on the outskirts of the city, this 51,000 capacity venue used to host numerous national college meets and trial days for many aspiring track and field stars before reconfiguration. “The Point” is also a secondary home for the national team. The stadium is located just a couple miles away from the Saugeais National Forest, which covers 10% of the total land area of the nation, and as such lumbering is one of the city’s main source of income.

Globe Cup: Stade Amaechi Olsen, Montbenoit (Cap. 68,500)

The Football Association of Saugeais is based out of Stade de Montagne, located smack in the middle of the capital, Montbenoit. The stadium is also home to local Premier League side, Montbenoit F.C., and both have used the 68,500 all seater since its construction before World Cup 53. The stadium has hosted many of the big matches, both domestically (in Premier League and FAS Cup action) and internationally against various big name opponents. The stadium has been expanded numerous times to coincide with the continual growth of the national team, reaching its current capacity right before co-hosting the 47th Cup of Harmony.
