GK:
Name: Erfaon Lisdiren
Age: 26
Team: Inland Peaks (Vilita)
Notable Skills: Excellent diving, likes to do acrobatics (though not excessively)
Bio: Lisidren is one of those players that get to forge their fame in their home country quickly and to insane points, but seems to not be able to succeed nearly as much in other countries. After unsuccessfully going through Valladar football, not necessarily because of performing badly, but because of choosing which team to go to badly, he's arrived at Vilita's Déclasse Division team Inland Peaks as the new starting goalkeeper, after a 6-month long hiatus of domestic football. He's fantastic at saving, but isn't that good with handling and he's not the kind of goalkeeper who keeps all rebounds for imself. There's no doubt that the best way to beat him is to shoot strongly and prey for a likely lucky rebound. He's been the only consistently starting goalkeeper for Farfadillis of the professional era, and it's been for a good reason so far. He's had some key performances in Farf feats, like beating Pacitalia in their best era or getting to the quarterfinals of the World Cup.

LB:
Name: Vrotaoa Wii-Tzaara
Age: 25
Team: La Nueva Avenida
Style: Very organized and good defensively, knows how to join the attack but does it relatively conservatively
Bio: Wii-Tzaara is a somewhat weird case. He was born in Vilita from a Farf mother and a Vilitan father, and has only stepped on Farf territory very sporadically. However, due to the desperate need for a left back that hasn't been brought up by Farf football, and that is consequently more defensive and organized, he's been called up for the job. He's played in the Vilitan League, and has recently arrived at La Nueva Avenida, winning the FFL last season. Wii-Tzaara is also quite talented when it comes to joining the attack, but he's, as said, much more conservative than Illi Setentriona.

CB:
Name: Rancisc Faró
Age: 20
Team: Melville Celtic (Polar Islandstates)
Style: Fast defender, very skilled with the ball and with impeccable reflexes
Bio: Dandalleion's half-brother by his mother side, who seems to take after him in many ways. To start off, he's incredibly fast as well, he's very skilled and he started his carrer with swamp football as well. After that, many players of the team have claimed that he behaves in almost the same way. And lastly, they both have the same way of running, dribbling, passing and reacting that you can clearly notice is special in some way when you see them. Faró replaced a very out-of-from Yung Chinsúa, so he doesn't have much to live up to... or, well, he wouildn't if he wasn't Dandalleion's brother. He started his association football career at Northern Sunrise Islands, with Project +90, a youth team from said country, but quickly moving to Melville Celtic, a Polarian Team. Maybe this is the main difference between him and is brother; Vilita's weather is the Polar opposite of the Islandstates. Pun fully intended.

RB:
Name: Agundí Frêndê
Age: 26
Team: Mabel Wigglytuffs (Northern Sunrise Islands)
Style: Incredible dribbler and permanent attacker
Bio: If you look up in a dictionary "Farf Side Back", a picture of this guy is what will appear. He's ok defensively, if he ever actually defends, and he joins the attack really well... constantly. He's very good with passing and, more than anything else, dribbling. He's good when he gets to shoot, too, and he's shown to be a good all-around player when it comes to all the offensive aspects in which he doesn't stand out. He's one of those players you will use only if you really like offensive football, and he's one of the evry few side backs that can claim that their offensive input outweights the hazardousness of lacking a defender there. Faró with his speed and Wii-Tzaara with his Vilitan-esque style of play are expected to patch up the holes he leaves on the defense. Nonetheless, his mere presence means that Farfadillis must play attacking football. Whether this is good or bad is up for anybody to judge, but he's given everyone good results up to now.

CDM:
Name: Yurpá Mêndêlöíndçêl [C]
Age: 21
Team: Oyardo FC (Astograth)
Style: Very energetic, decent when it comes to technique and superb defensively.
Bio: Yurpá is an example of sacrifice and will. Working his way out of Ruland, the worst hell-hole since Ruland. Yeah, exactly. Ever since he was a child he's had the determination to ahiceve as much as he possibly can. His biography is guaranteed to leave you crying, as it combines these two with other things he's had to go through throughout his life. Regarding his abilities inseide the pitch, he's not particularly talented with the ball, but he's resistance is unmatched and his violent shots from outside the box are to be feared. Dfensively, he's unmatched as well, constantly recovering balls by just outspeeding opponents or foreseeing passes. He's also very good when it comes to cleaning the ball from the more dangerous parts of the pitch. He's also got the talent to lead all the other players and understand complex tactics naturally. He's just retunred to Oyardo FC, Astograth after a loan to Mâ Âlâmëómë, Rulandese team, having given it its first title almost single-handedly. He's been performing stunningly as of late, and he's no doubt worthy of the captaincy and probably even more. Without a doubt the best player along with Dandalleion and Tuzzio.

LM:
Name: Yülàáê Mî
Age: 19
Team: AFC Damaciu (Kinitaria)
Style: Fast and talented, very high football IQ
Bio: Yülàáê and his brother play almost identically; it's difficult to tell who is who if you don't look at their faces (thank God they're not identical twins!). Their main difference, however, is that Yülàáê is left-footed. Taking this into account, Rossizzo decided to add him to the left flank after moving Dandalleion up to striker position. There's lots of hopes for this young man, and he better not disappoint. He's recently been bought along with his brother to AFC Damaciu of Kinitaria.

LM:
Name: Gâyö Mî
Age: 19
Team: AFC Damaciu (Kinitaria)
Style: Fast and talented, very high football IQ
Bio: Gâyö's style is the same as Yülàáê, but he's right-footed instead. Due to this, Rossizzo decided to add him to the right flank to replace Tenian, who had been playing badly lately, although he was a very good player for Gwinevra Barbarians in the Apoxian League. Gêyö is particularly renowned for liking to play some tricks on other players when his team is winning by 4-0 or more, but this isn't frequent anyways.

CAM:
Name: Ikkon Karrka
Age: 19
Team: Barbury Town (Apox)
Style: Aggressive, incredibly skilled, good playmaker, very persistent, incredible long shots, including free kicks
Bio: Ikkon Karkka is part Hujukian, part Farf, though more of the latter than the former. Born in Hujukialand, and having lived there for four years during his childhood, he's inevitably aggressive. Hujukialand is the very definition of a hell-hole, where you're statistically dead before you reach ten. Karkka is probably the most offensive player of the team, as well, as having been born in a place that plays so offensively and having been brought up in Farfadillis just grants you some kind of mindset for football. His dribbling is impressive and his shots almost unmatched. He can dribble anyone but is usless excrement when it comes to defending; he's the best possible player for a team like this.

CAM:
Name: Ichi Tuzzio
Age: 21
Team: Makosile United (Vilita)
Style: Very good at shooting from long distances, excellent dribbler, agile, and good playmaker.
Bio: Originally Dandish, having been born in Dodeni, Tuzzio is (luckily), also Farf, as Dandillis is a colony of Farfadillis. Tuzzio is currently one of the best players of the team and is recognized internationally as well, having played in the V-League for some time now, having reached the AOCAF semifinals twice and having reached the World Cup quarterfinals as well. He takes dribbling and shooting to a whole new level. His style is also very easy to recognize; his incisive passes are incredible. If he gets the ball, there's always danger. However, he's not particularly strong or anything (unless you count shooting!), so with some luck and a bit of the referee's help he's somewhat controllable, though he can turn the tables at any moment.

LW:
Name:
Sê Mêrí
Age: 21
Team: FC Torshavn (Polar Islandstates)
Style: Excellent shooting and crossing, very good dribbling and quite speedy
Bio: Sê Mêrí has just won the starting position after a lot of decisions by Rossizzo to change the formation and everything, and it seems like he won't let anyone down. After moving out to the Islandstates, Mêrí seems to have progressed a lot. He's still very good with shooting and crossing, but he's now pretty good dribbling as well, plus he seems to be betetr on the physical side now. Mêrí is one of those dangerous players you have to look out for.

LM:
Name: Friekder Dandalleion
Age: 20
Team: Jungle Strike (Vilita)
Style: Extremely Fast, always helps on the offense, a bit on the defense, tends to score goals by outrunning players.
Bio: After being the best Farf player on the Swamp Soccer WC 2, he was called by Ferdullaele FC and started playing on Farfadillis' first division, was loved by the fans (who already loved him because of his performance on the SSWC2) and was called for the national team, quickly replacing Bujkanovic. He had performed really well in Cednia Beach, where he'd played slightly out of position, before signing for Vilitan champions Jungle Strike and becoming the first Farf player to play in the Champions' Cup, along with Ichi Tuzzio, where he got to the final as a starter. Probably recognized as the best Farf footballer after becoming an AO-All Star starter and a World XI starter. He's by far the fastest of the team, and as it's Farfadillis that's quite a feat. He's difficult to catch when he dribbles using his speed, and his technique is by no means bad, his crosses are precise, his dribbling is very good and his shots are unstoppable. He's also very quick to react and always knows when to run and which direction to take, which makes his speed even more lethal than it would be alone. He's one of those players that's never nervous and that never gives up a ball. He's just been moved up to play as a striker instead of midfielder, as he's used to in Jungle Strike. He's guaranteed to shine even more now.

Substitutes

GK:
Name: Joan Raguzzelli
Age: 23
Team: Koloko
Style: Experienced Goalkeeper.
Bio: Raguzzelli may be young, but he's experienced; Koloko is a mid-table team which almost never manages to get a good player from their youth system. However, they managed to form Raguzzelli, and gave him playing time since his debut at the age of 16. He's played more than 300 matches for Koloko, but he'll probably move to another team as Koloko are likely to get relegated once again. He's probably gonna be Lisdiren's shadow for a lot of time, but he's still very experienced and makes up for an excellent back-up in case of send-offs, injuries and others.

LB:
Name: Nomá Greffe
Age: 25
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Style: Fast thinking, Tactical Mastermind.
Bio: Nomá Greffe is a very interesting LB, he's a bit slow, but totally makes up for it by always knowing what the opponent's going to do. He's not very good at long passing, so he often tries to make the team play better by using short passing. After not being called for the national team for some time, he's returned. Still, he probably won't be trusted anymore after some very bad performances leading to 8-1 and 7-1 thrashings, which many Farves still remember with dislike.

RB:
Name: Cundo Nessi
Team: Flying Jellyfish
Age: 23
Style: Almost perfect tactically sepaking.
Bio: Nessi was born in Ruland, known as the "3rd world state", a state where almost everyone is living in poverty, and starving. He was one of those kids who didn't get an education because of it. However, he did play a lot of football and managed to be spotted by one of Flying Jellyfish's scout. He's almost perfect when it comes to tactics. Just Frêndê's back-up, but is flexible and may enter for anyone in the defense, or defesnsive midfield if they get injured/tired/on low-form/carded and Rossizzo foresees a red card. He was briefly the starter for the CoH, before he underperformed a bit and Farfadillis ended up last of its group. He's still a possible sub for matches that ask for a more defensive style, as both are really attacking, unlike Nessi.

LM:
Name: I7'imund Bujkanovic
Age: 34
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Fast, good on a defensive point of view.
Bio: I7imund is a fast midfielder, almost unstoppable on a long run. He's been the Best Farf Player of the year twice since his debút. His youth team was Tympú FC, but Ferdullaele FC bought him before he even debuted. Won't get much playing time, if any at all. He can still be decent when playing, but he hasn't got much time left in the team. He's been slowly losing his speed and might not have any real treats left now.

CDM:
Name: Américo Marino
Age: 34
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Very good at defending, good free kicks
Bio: Marino is currently in the last years of his career, but thta doesn't mean that Rossizzo can't call him up for the national team. He's a very good leader, inside and outside the pitch, and this national team needed a reference once and for all, they're all too young after all. He's a good back-up for Wanderis should anything happen, and better at attacking than Sereno, who couldn't join the squad due to a last minute injury. He's Avenida Victoria's captain and was one of the key players of the team that reached the Globe Cup knock-out stages, something without precedent.

ST:
Name:
Fabrifé Numbá
Age: 32
Team: Tympú AC
Style: Fast, precise striker.
Bio: An incredibly fast and very lethal finisher. Used to compete on athletism until, at the age of 16, his uncle persuaded him to compete on football instead, he did keep his athletic treats though, something easily noticeable. Currently plays on Tympú AC . He's returned to the national team after a break to care after his father, who recently died. He hasn't become the starter again yet, but he may in the future.

ST:
Name:
Yolo Fu
Age: 23
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Ideal Poacher.
Bio: After Numbá decided to retire from the national team for an undefined amount of time, Matino called Ferdullaele FC's current centerforward: Fu, a decision Rossizzo kept but sending him to the bench instead. He's the ideal poacher: exquisite heading, good finishing, good at reacting, good positioning and fast on short distances. He's demonstrated what he's worth, but the battle for being the starter against all other strikers will continue, he's been losing it up to now. He's not as acrobatic as Juárez and is a bit worse than him in some aspects, as well as not having the talent to foresee what can happen exactly, and isn't as good at dribbling as Johans, another one that can win back his position easily.

ST:
Name:
Neguimbelefra Fragreda
Age: 30
Team: Bafilo United (Slembana)
Style: Slow poacher.
Bio: Neguimbelefra is VERY slow, and often has troubles with the offside law, but he's a superb poacher and makes up for it completely. He lost his place on the starting eleven because of Ichi Tuzzio, Farfadillis' star now-a-days. He isn't getting any playing time with the national team lately, but he's the current top goalscorer in the Slembanan league. He's one of those players who you can predict not playing any minutes at all, or maybe just a few. However, you never know when Rossizzo can go completely crazy.

ST:
Name:
Septimus Johans
Age: 21
Team: Ferdullaele FC
Style: Finisher, Awesome Dribbler and good crosser.
Bio: Septimus is one of Farfadillis' best strikers, currently, everyone has put their eyes on this young striker, being known for being "the perfect finisher". His dribbling and crossing are very good. As a lone striker, he's one that carries marks and goes to the flanks to cross the ball for the incoming midfielders, a tactic that without him on the pitch has changed now. It proved to be very effective back at WC61's Qualifyings, so Rossizzo might want to try him as a starter on some games, and he might keep that position if he does well.

ST:
Name:
Nazeau Roga
Age: 20
Team: Iturributa United (Iturributa)
Style: He's ok... and he likes to write
Bio: Yeah, he's not really that good... but he likes to write, and some culture wouldn't do this team any bad. So, yeah, some are still wondeirng what he's doing here.

CDM:
Name:
Frion Wanderis
Age: 24
Team: 1.FFC Turbine Decraa (Mytannion)
Style: Very good defensively, very good dribbler, good passer.
Bio: Frion Wanderis is very good in important areas of the midfield, specially on a defensive point of view. He's a very important player of the team now, and never gets substituted. He's been performing awesomely lately, how much his form may last is unknown. These performances spotted the attention of Mytanar team 1.FFC Turbine Decraa, who are battling relegation and bought him to lead them forward out of the relegation zone. He and Mêndêlöíndçêl form another duo like that of Setentriona and Frêndê or Tuzzio and O'rosso. They're the ones who take care of keeping possesion and recovering it, both are good at defending, afterall. Wanderis is pretty good at retaining it as well, and even causing some problems to the defense when trying, though the effort he outputs isn't something you'd like, he still does pretty well, and has a high football IQ that helps him on everything. Perfect understanding of tactics and perfect prediction to steal the ball make his marking outstanding in a way and makes him a very important part of set pieces. His dribbling is very good and it helps him retain the ball, as mentioned.

RM:
Name:
Rancisc Tenian
Age: 23
Team: Gwinevra Barbarians (Apox)
Style: Playmaker, horrible at defending, sometimes scores directly from crosses
Bio: Tenian is one of the first Farf players to play abroad. He is an incredible playmaker. Matino decided to call him for the starting eleven over Minduruguatzel, and Rossizzo decided that this decision was very sensible so he kept him and even as a starter. Recently champion with Gwinevra Barbarians of the Apox National League twice, being a key player. Sometimes scores directly from crosses, regardless of difficulty. At first it was thought that it was just luck, but he's done it so many times now that people know he does it on purpose. He's basically a slower than average midfielder but one with a very good technique for passing and crossing, his dribbling might not be as remarkable, but it's still very good. His marking isn't good, just as Dandalleion but worse, but he makes up for it by not letting the ball go, ever. He's not one of those players that runs all around the pitch and so on, as he's not fast, as said, but he's good at knowing when to run to get the ball before someone else, at least.

ST:
Name:
Fermín Juárez
Age: 26
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Deadly finisher who knows how to move in his natural habitat: the box.
Bio: Fermín Juárez is part of this mainly because of how he played in the FFL last season, outperforming pretty much everyone. He's still pretty young and is expected to play really well, fits better in a more defensive formation but can easily adapt. Performed decently enough last CoH to keep his starting position, the trophy in the war between the many young Farf strikers. However, he can fall down to any of the others easily. Led Avenida Victoria to its first-ever Globe Cup Group Phase appearance. His moves inside the box are to be feared, as well as his shots which are lethal, specially on one-on-one situations. He has an eye for the ball and can easily predict where the ball us heading, much as if it was an instinct. His headers are very potent and he likes to score from corners, as he doesn't find it hard. He's very acrobatic as well so if anyone would be most likely to score a spectacular goal similar or exactly as an overhead kick, that'd be him.

ST:
Name:
Vasilije Østergård
Age: 20
Team: Avenida Victoria
Style: Playmaking striker. Precise shooting from anywhere. Excellent dribbling.
Bio: At the age of 18, Vasilije is this team's youngest player, as well as the most promising along with Ragnere, Daokō and Mêrí, all of them taken from the squad used last DBC. He's characterized for leaving his teammate attackers with best-case-scenario opportunities. His playmaking is often too much for defenders. He's extremely precise at shooting, often fetching the upper-corners with elegance. His dribbling is much better than average and he tends to administrate it well: just as much dribbling as needed to create an opportunity. Østergård became a starter with Flying Jellyfish last year, almost breaking a record for youngest player to make his first appearance. After this success, he was transferred to current FFL winners Avenida Victoria and played as a starter in replacement of the deceased Cris Bartoloměj, leading the team to a Globe Cup spot. Completely settled with Avenida Victoria, might settle soon with the national team, and seems like he could become the striker this WC Qualifyings. He saved Farfadillis with a last minute goal against Burchadinger that sent Farfadillis through to beat Pacitalia later on, in a match where he wasn't really important but played some time. Has shown some good performances so far, he'll have to keep them up.

Stadium

La Fantás (100,000 seats)

The Farf Fragar Firschendujmal I7'snerra has been an unsafe stadium for a long time... a way too long time. That's exactly why the FFFF has decided to build a brand-new stadium for the national team. The stadium's already been built, and it's got all kind of (capitalistic) luxuries. The seats are all very comfortable, and the government poured a huge load of money on the stadium as well because it was the "random blindfolded budget choice of the week" (yeah, don't ask). La Fantás translates to "The Fantastic" in new Farf. The stadium can hold up to 100,000 people, way less than the I7'snerra, but the stadium is still better overall.

Gordonopian National Team
World Cup 65

Starting Eleven

So much has changed, a little has stayed the same for the Gordonopian National Team.

The most notable difference between this cycle and last is a huge changeup in players. Some of this was necessitated by tragedy; followers of football around the world, Gordonopina fans or not, are likely to have heard of the terrorist strike at the Matchday 16 game between Gordonopia and Itturributa during 64 qualifying. The bombing resulted in the death of four players, some of them starters, and sent ripples throughout the nation.

Then there are the more peaceful changes, brought about by several factors. Retirements of some key players, namely captain and the first player to break 100 caps, Roger Steiner, left some holes. The integration of the New Gordonopia, a colony in Atlantian Oceania, into the national football system also brought a couple of new faces onto the roster. Finally, as fortunes change and players improve or decline, the lineup is bound to change.

One thing some careful observers may notice is the decrease in players on contract with foreign clubs. This is largely due to the meteoric rise of the Gordonopian club system, which now sits at third in the world. No longer do the best Gordonopian players have to travel abroad to find the very best club competition.

Unfortunately, while the two years since the last World Cup cycle did bring an increase in exposure for the club level, the National Team is practically stuck. After skyrocketing through the ranks over several cycles, United Gordonopia is now up only one spot from 29th to 28th thanks to an underwhelming qualification. Had the team not rallied to place third in the Cup of Harmony, they could have actually dropped.

This time around, expectations are high but at the same time tempered. While the draw may be relatively forgiving, especially compared to draws like Group 5, the team now knows how easy it is to fall short. Hopefully, though, some of the 63rd cycle's magic can be rekindled four years later.

Formation
4-3-1-2

Jay Neuman - Vice-Captain
Four Golden Boots. Multiple league titles. Consistent performance on the international level. No one needs to make the case for Jay Neuman anymore. At this point, just about every follower in Gordonopia assumes he will be in goal for the next decade, and with good reason. Neuman lives up to his club team's nickname, "The Northern Wall", by being a formidable obstacle in front of the net. As long as he stays on his game, Neuman has the helm.
GK - 26 - Club: Image FC Deska - 67 Caps - 0 Goals

Oliver White
He may be young, and compared to some of the lineup untested, but Oliver White has made a name for himself at FC Deska where he has risen to prominence as the successor to Roger Steiner just as Jay Neuman did so for Ludwig Strauss. While Neu may have gone out on a limb by picking White, there is no doubt that he has talent. Hopefully his agility and stellar marking skills will contribute in his first cycle as a starter.
LB - 21 - Club: Image FC Deska - 4 Caps - 0 Goals

Fritz Cole
Its hard to believe that Fritz Cole, the young rising star at the end of Gordonopia's first cycle, is now in his last with the National Team. After a decade, Cole announced recently that after this cycle he will stick to club play. Though he may be on his way out, he is certainly still a consistent force. His skills mostly lie in counters and tackling, but he has a diverse range of talents on the defensive end.
CB - 30 - Club: Image Willingham AC - 87 Caps - 0 Goals

Matty Paige
Paige, signed to Iturributa United after only a season in the GPL, is one of the most successful Gordonopians in both the international club and national team levels. One of the strongest defenders in the Iturributa Premier League, he has remained with one of that competition's dominant two squads: Iturributa United. On top of his agility, which has allowed him to keep up with breakaways, Paige has also demonstrated the rare defensive talent of being able to score should he be needed, and is the highest scoring player in the backfield in team history.
CB - 28 - Club: Image Iturributa United, Iturributa -75 Caps - 7 Goals

Robert Dickson
GPL Clubs Represented

# Club Name
4 FC Deska
3 Union Holiday
2 Basin Plain
2 Tolven
2 VfB Deska Süd
2 West Tolten
1 Gordonopia FC
1 Teva FC
1 Willingham AC

Robert Dickson comes to the starting lineup as a veteran. Some commentators questioned elevating him so late in his career, though his stellar performance in the powerhouse Basin Plain backfield and solid play as a substitute and occasional starter has silenced most. While he will likely only remain on the roster for one or two cycles, Dickson is a solid position player.
CB - 28 - Club: Image Basin Plain - 10 Caps - 0 Goals

Zachary Johnston
Zachary Johnston's long-awaited breakthrough into the starting lineup was very unfortunately marred by death; his predecessor in the LDM spot, James Stahl, was tragically one of the 16Four; the four players who died in the matchday 16 attacks. This doesn't change the fact, though, that Johnston is an excellent player in his own right, and has found much success abroad.

Davis Roger
A powerful defensive midfielder in the prime of his career, Davis Roger earned his spot on the national team through his superb stamina and technical skills, as well as his solid performance during the team's previous cycles. His greatest strength remains his ability to intercept passes, a statistic in which he led the GPL for several seasons, and which he put to good use in games such as the national team's famous 2-0 upset of then 6th ranked Valanora in World Cup 60 qualification as an unranked squad. Roger recently signed with SK Franz Joseph City, a powerhouse in Polar Islandstates' number one ranked league.
CDM - 27 - Club: Image SK Franz Joseph City - 94 Caps - 1 Goals

Karl Wein
A member of the 'Holiday Five', a group of five young talented players who have recently helped improve the fortunes of the previously ailing club, Wein is the second of his teammates on the starting lineup, replacing stalwart Lane Franz. Like many of the new players on the lineup, Wein is relatively inexperienced internationally, though he has plenty of skill to make up for it.
RDM - 20 - Club: Image Union Holiday - 3 Caps - 0 Goals

Marc Castleton
Like Zachary Johnston, Marc Castleton was thrust into a starting position after tragedy struck. Though no longer the youngest player on the starting lineup, Castleton was being groomed to take the spot of veteran Jeff Draper, who was in his own first cycle as a starter. Fortunately, Castleton rose to the challenge and provided a strong showing in the Cup of Harmony, giving him a strong footing for qualification.
AM -20 - Club: Image Union Holiday - 12 Caps - 2 Goals

Jere Tobias - Captain
Jere Tobias is, for another cycle, the essential part of the team's offense. After winning the golden boot in 2012, Tobias bounced around internationally, first to Juvillian Martinax of Erathore, and then to Paramus FC of Vielha. After several seasons back in the GPL, he finally found a home with Qidade Savana of Jasĭyun. With his ability to both score, and recognize when someone else has a better chance, Tobias has a lot to back up his position on the team, including his ongoing National Team scoring record. Along with Davis Roger, it is also notable that Tobias is one of two players who have been starting since the beginning of WCQ60, when Gordonopia stepped onto the world stage. How much longer will he last?
ST - 30 - Club: Image Qidade Savana, Jasĭyun - 97 Caps - 38 Goals

Jonathon Turner
The big surprise of the break between qualification and the Cup of Harmony was the naming of Jonathon Turner to the starting lineup. Formerly a young prodigy striker, Turner has been one of the key players in the return of Gordonopia FC to prominence, and was recently named to the GPL Team of the Decade after winning back to back Golden Boots. His tremendous speed and agility, as well as skill in the air, make him an ideal deep-lying striker, with the latter being cited as a key reason he has been able to 'shake up' the offense.
ST - 24 - Club: Image Gordonopia FC - 17 Caps - 8 Goals

Coaching

Manager: Michael Neu
Neu is the most successful manager in modern Gordonopian history. In the early days of the Gordonopia Premier League, he built a formidable squad with FC Deska, winning the regular season in 2012, the inaugural season, and the Gordonopia Cup in 2013, and building the foundation for a team that has been the most dominant in the league.

After his second season with Deska, Neu signed on with a three-cycle contract to the Gordonopian National Team, where he has built the squad from a virtual nobody, coming off of its first cycle in decades, to the surprise underdog of the 63rd Cup, leading his team to the semi-finals.

Neu is a defensive minded coach, but one who is no stranger to working with talented strikers. With the National Team, he tends to favor a 4-3-1-2 formation, with the 3 being primarily defensive midfielders. A solid defensive core was built up around several of Neu's former players from Deska, while a pair of superb strikers, Jere Tobias and Vonn Keller, became the crux of the offense. Though there have been some changes since then, Neu still remains at the helm, and at least for one more cycle he will lead the charge for Gordonopia.

Assistants: Thomas Cox, David Günther, Max Fleisching

Stadium
Empire Stadium, Gordonopia City
Capacity: 160,000
Empire Stadium is the shrine to Gordonopian football. Built as one of the first major public works projects following the Civil War, the stadium is the primary home for the national team, as well as the home site for the Gordonopia Cup and Inter-League Cup Finals, on top of other notable matches. Located in the colossal Capital Metropolitan Area, home to over 200,000,000 people, it is impossible to find a football match at the stadium that isn't sold out, despite the fact that the metro area has, at various times, been home to as many as four top flight football squads, and several in the second tier, each of which have their own stadium. Recently, the stadium gained worldwide exposure when it hosted the final and several earlier matches of the 51st Baptism of Fire, which was won by New Sideburn.

(ooc: yeah ... RP in the roster thread ... read on and you'll understand)

A groan broke the tense silence and provoked rapturous shouts from those gathered around in their long, white coats. They watched, enthralled, as the object of their attention slowly blinked and opened its eyes. The ever hopeful faces peered down upon, nearly blocking all light from the creatures vision. It tried to repel those around it but found its body stiff and difficult to move.

"By Krenek's ghost. He lives!"

'He'? So 'he' was male. The creature had no recollection of any form of gender, appearance or memory. It didn't know what it was, where it was, or most disconcertingly, who it was. He tried to speak but no sound became of his actions, so he tried again to move his arm. With a loud creak, he moved his arm and the men in white coats fell silent. The creaking continued as the creature twisted his arm in an attempt to see himself for the first time. The branch of a tree of some kind drifted into view. The creature looked at it, bemused. Why a tree? Then he realised. It was his arm.

"Xylovitus Sapiens. It is a success! For the Glory of the Commune!"
"For the Glory of the Commune!"

The creature wanted to scream but no sound could be made. He knew this was not right, this was not who he was. What the fuck was happening ...

"We have not time to celebrate now. Xylovitus must be trained is his abilities and surely the World Cup will be ours!"
"Indeed"
"The Glorious Commune shall be victorious!"

World Cup? What? He felt himself moving. Wheeled away from the room of his conception into faceless corridors. He was scared and upset. Still fixated upon the thick bark which covered his arm, suddenly a single snowdrop, a small flower, like a teardrop erupted from this new skin. It did not go unnoticed by the crowd.

"Look! He is learning. The procedure has been a success!"
"Let us not be hasty, he still has much to learn."

The creature could not see, but upon his wooden face a stream of snowdrops has run from his black, vacant eyes down to what could be described as his chest as inside, he was weeping uncontrollably.

Communadi Team Sheet

#1 Xylovitus Sapiens (Mk7.2)

After a large exodus of Communadi sportspeople, mainly to other nations in the Paradystopi Commonwealth or simply obscurity in other countries of the Multiverse, The Commune has struggled to forge teams which it would consider strong enough to defeat other great teams and after all, the Commune only cares about anything which would further it's glory. An unnamed test subject was taken and has had their DNA manipulated, combined and interwoven with that of a myriad of plant forms. This allows the subject to effectively control plants and other vegetation, something the Commune consider a great advantage within a sport played upon a field of grass.

Xylovitus is a slow creature and appears somewhat like a 'Treant' from the RL LOTR films. He will spend the match stood within the penalty box, manipulating his branches so as to be a difficult goalkeeper to beat. By way of attack and defense, he uses his root system to bury beneath the ground. Rising them up to block or dispossess players. He uses ten major roots as his outfield players as well as an ability to control the growth of the grass somewhat. Your players may find a powerful shot have its strength sapped by a patch of long grass which wasn't there 5 seconds ago. Due to its generally slow speed, Xylovitus plays very defensively and will hope to frustrate its opponents into making mistakes. Will commonly play a long ball game as its main body, as goalkeeper has enough strength to hurl the ball into the opponents penalty area, where hopefully, one of its roots can take the scoring shot.

Style Mod. = -4.75

RP Permissions.

I give you permission to do almost anything, but here are a few guidelines

Godmodding is actively encouraged.
Go crazy when describing any matches against the Commune.
You CANNOT injure Xylovitus.
Well, you can, but he can grow back anything you break.
To kill him, you'd have to dig him up and
probably douse him with napalm or similar
... but please don't do this.
Regarding cards, be creative.
Maybe a red card would force him to relinquish the use of
one of his roots but with most their action taking place
underground, how can you tell?

All Communadi home matches will take place in an unnamed stadium in Mogd-Syrdusha and no specific details have been released for 'security reasons'. Your team will arrive at the main airport in Mogd-Syrdusha and be met by a security profile to escort you to the stadium or lodgings should you require an over-night stay. Be aware that the vast majority of your traveling fans will be rejected visas to enter the Commune and it's very likely you will play away fixtures in front of only the Communadi fans. Again, feel free to be creative in the way you get your fans into the Commune.

Any questions, mutual RP ideas or anything else. Please don't hesitate to TG this account or Paradystopia

Svenga Squad for the 65th WC

The Coach: Simon Andfossen (42 years old)

Tragically struck by the loss of his wife in the middle of the last qualifying campaign, Simon is not half the man he used to be. Once a fluid, energetic man with a total passion for the game, was turned into a quiet, withdrawn figure with a drinking problem who once tried to take his own life in an Aguazul hotel room, but was foiled by two team members. He plays now with a very rigid style, playing a 4-4-1-1 with two wide men in the form of Lager and Ruotsalainen. Playing in between the midfield and the lone striker, Truls Waaserson, is former-striker Svein Danielsen.

Assistant Coach: Kuri Levallånen (40 years old)

He comes into the side in rather unfortunate circumstances. Former Assistant Coach Röben Eriksson, former soldier, has retired from coaching due to the injuries he sustained whilst fighting got worse. Kuri was coach of Stormskamer IGK before taking the assistant coaching role, and had taken them to a Supercup victory three years ago. Despite his young years, he has plenty of experience and is always has a calm voice to give to the often on edge Andfossen.

Team Psychologist: Dr. Milia Vevkavas (30 years old)

Psychology graduate from Helsirn University of Human Studies, the surprisingly attractive Milia is solely on the team to keep Simon in check. He can be volatile at some points, depressed at others, and this needs to be watched at all times.

Squad

Goalkeepers

Pal Lorsen (19 caps - 0 goals - 29 y/o - FCK Lupa)

Pal has replaced WC62 regular Toms Holt due to Holt's recurring finger injury. Pal is a few years younger than his superior, but is a talented goalkeeper nonetheless. He is 6ft 3" and is imposing in the goal, which make him a penalty expert. He likes making saves, and has a hollywood flair about the saves he makes. He is known for his big right foot, and can kick from one area to the other and watch out for him in the opposition box in the final minutes...

Dagfinn Simoneit (3 caps - 0 goals - 31 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

Normally the third string keeper who rarely got a run out, Dag has been promoted to substitute keeper because of Holt's injuries. Has kept for seven years in Stormskamer and is a reliable choice for the team. He is strong behind the ball and can make good saves. His bravery in the box is second to none, and he will charge out to meet a corner in a crowded box or drop at the feet of a charging striker to smother the ball.

Vanja Albertsen (0 caps - 0 goals - 19 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

A new talent rising up through the ranks of the domestic league, Vanja stands at a staggering 6ft 10", and has the natural build for a goalkeeper. Although he might not be fully ready for the big occasion of the World Cup, he is certainly a talent to watch out for in the future.

Defenders

Kappo Strostrand (52 caps - 1 goal - 36 y/o - Helsirn CSKA) (Captain)

Kappo replaces Torbjørn Lindstørm as captain, as the 37 year old retires from international football. He was always odds on to become captain after the grizzled central defender finally left. Kappo plays as a right back, but floats in the third centre back position and can also be called upon as a wing back when it's needed. Strong and powerful with a dash of pace, almost unbeatable in the air and in 50/50 chances with attacking players. Capable of taking free-kicks as well. This competition will Kappo's last in international football.

Reko Saari (12 caps - 0 goals - 31 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

He was initially brought into the side to replace Thorvald Thomasson, but has now fully replaced the 32-year old in the squad. Thomasson has been dropped to the reserve squad. Saari is a big man who creates a big presence in the centre of defence. Saari, despite being on of the youngest in the ageing defence, he is still a leader and can pull all of the team together in times of emergency. He can also be a threat down the other end of the pitch when it comes to corners and crosses.

Georg Raske (35 caps - 0 goals - 29 y/o - GKS Erem)

A substitute who has benefited from Andfossen's crazy policy of constantly changing his starting XI, he has benefited from this match experience which he would otherwise not get. His football has developed a lot since being with the national squad, and he is a very good defender. Smaller than your average defender, but no less strong or enthusiastic to the game.

Saar Bjørnsen (7 caps - 0 goals - 25 y/o - FCK Lupa)

A debutant in the side, replacing former captain Torbjørn Lindstørm. He certainly has big shoes to fill, replacing the man who controlled the side when they won the Baptism of Fire two years ago, winning a WCC-Sanctioned event, which most Countries could only dream of. But Bjørnsen has been tipped to be the new Lindstørm. He is bigger than his predecessor, standing at 6ft 4" inches, he is not someone you want to run into at speed. In the side for the long term...

Luka Jarvinen (27 caps - 0 goals - 25 y/o - GKS Erem)

Overshadowed by the likes of Lindstørm and Thomasson, Jarvivnen has not as much game time as he perhaps should do, and is a real gem of a player who has not been fully discovered by Andfossen. He moves with incredible pace when chasing down opposition attackers, and is always in the right place to block a shot or make that last ditch tackle which he has done plenyt of times in the past. Good friends with both Raske and Levallånen, they like to joke around and the occasionally don't take the game entirely seriously.

Mikkel Strand (19 caps - 1 goals - 27 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

He has not quite come into his prime yet, and he's spent a lot of time warming the bench, wrapped up in the numerous layers of SFA-supplied kit. When he has played, for just 8 games in various friendlies, he has shown an adept ability to use the ball from deep and create situations from defence. If he perhaps gets a bit more game time, he could develop his skills and become a real talent, perhaps playing in Defensive midfield or even Midfield.

Vilmar Naess (30 caps - 3 goals - 27 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

A regular starter under Andfossen, the coach seems to enjoy his free-fleeing ability. He prefers playing as a wing back, and even has an international goal to his name. Along with his pace and ball skills, he can deliver heavy tackles and is very strong on his feet, so is hard to knock over in a challenge. Charismatic and clever, he can often annoy slower-minded players with his remarks, which get him into all kinds of scrapes...

Midfielders

Hakan Lager (29 caps - 1 goals - 27 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

A youthful and dynamic footballer, Hakan is powerful on both the wing and in and around the area. He has been second place to Jazēps Vang in recent times, and it looks to continue like that as Vang has put in some particularly good performances over the last few months. But nevertheless he has everything a good winger needs: pace, power and good passing ability.

Seppi Steffansson (30 caps - 4 goals - 36 y/o - Stormskamer IGK)

He and Kappo Strostrand are kind of the grandfather figures of this relitavely young team. With the retirement of Lindstørm, Steffansson has now had to take a big role as vice-captain and a role model to the team. He gives an excellent playing role model as a defensive midfielder. Strong and sturdy, with a great range of passes, from the 4ft lay-off to the defence splitting over-the-top ball. All-pervasive and always seems to be in centre of the pitch, dictating the pace and tempo of the game.

Bern Harmandsson (23 caps - 4 goals - 30 y/o - Rasmussen SK)

A great attacking midfielder who has favoured selection over the last few games over his more-defensive counterparts in Andfossen's attempt to score more goals. But with all the coach's efforts, Harmandsson can't provide all the goals for the side, but he tries, with 3 international goals in 15 caps. Lethal at close range with agile reflexes capable of springing onto any pass or loose ball, he also works as a link man between the midfield and Waaserson and Barlow.

Timo Laathi (14 caps - 0 goals - 22 y/o - West Skal City SK)

Former captain of the U21s, Timo is one of the few players who make the leap from U21 regular to first team regular. No one is sure why there aren't more. Timo is a good roving midfielder, who can operate both in a central role or as a winger or attacking midfielder, but can also drop back and defend like a centre back or a sweeper would. Good close control and excellent footwork make him troublemaker for opposition defences, and also has a good close range shooting ability.

Torleif Olhauser (46 caps - 1 goals - 32 y/o - Helsirn CSKA)

The face of the Svenga football team's WC63 campaign, there is massive expectation on both him and the team. Tor, as he's known, is the heart of the team, dictating everything from his perch in the centre of the pitch. He doesn't like to go forward, and will hang back during most attacking set-plays. He has eagle-like vision and is known for his perfect passing and his ability to find space and find it for other players.

Jazēps Vang (31 caps - 5 goals - 24 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

The joint youngest player in the side, Vang has the advantage of having his whole career ahead of him. He likes to experiment with the ball, and will often try outrageous tricks, just to see if they work. When on form, he is unstoppable, every trick seeming to come off and every reverse-spinning-backheel finding its target. Combine this ingenuity with proper winger's pace always make him a joy to watch for any football fan.

Rihards Ruotsalainen (35 caps - 11 goals - 33 y/o - PPMPA Korska)

Arguably Svengarda's most successful player, his skill (and a certain journalist) warranted him a place in the World XI (although one lacking several top teams), although as a substitute. Raw pace and good footwork make him a first-choice winger for any side, and 5 goals show off his goal scoring ability from around the area. He has been in rampant form for his domestic club PPMPA Korska, starting all 30 games last season and scoring 21, picking up the Midfielder of the Year award last season.

Strikers

Truls Waaserson (47 caps - 27 goals - 30 y/o - Morata Valley (Vilita)

Svengarda's goal factory, and main source of goals for the entire Andfossen regime. A superb first and final touch make Truls deadly as soon as he picks up the ball in the area. He works a lot off his team, taking crosses from the wingers and through-balls from midfielders, and works well by himself or with fellow strikers. In this case, he will be working in front of Svein Danielsen/Edward Barlow as the sole striker.

Svein Danielsen (34 caps - 13 goals - 28 y/o - Ferdullaele FC (Farfadillis)

A striker on the same par as Truls Waaserson when it comes to goal scoring ability, but Svein has had to live most of his footballing life in the attacking-midfield role, and that's where he'll play for this WC. Good speed and strength make him ideal for this role, as well as the skill of placing a pass, which is key for playing a single striker. Making a name for himself overseas in Farfadillis, scoring more goals of Ferdullaele FC than the legendary Val Kylx.

Serko Jansen (4 caps - 1 goals - 24 y/o - FCK Lupa)

The second debutant in the side along with defender Saar Bjornsen, Serko has gained his place on the merit of his domestic performances for FCK Lupa. His appearance in the side is much to the distaste of the player he replaced; Boghos Danielsen. Serko doesn't expect much play, but when he does, he adds an element of the sublime to his play, and has a habit for scoring some quite brilliant goals, from 25-yard screamers to deft chips.

Paavo Jakobsen (0 caps - 0 goals - 19 y/o - DGNC Helsingborg)

In a side where players are getting old, Paavo adds that little spark that keeps the team going. He is a brilliant athlete and an amazing close-control expert. His size, 5ft 2", is beneficial to his talent, as he is able to jink and weave his way through large, slow defenders. Combine that with lightning quick reflexes and a powerful shot, Jakobsen is a rising superstar.

Bears Armed

‘The Bear-Belles’

National football organisation: ‘Bears Armed Association for Soccer’ (= ‘BAAS’).
(Chairbear: Morra o Barrdenn [Chairbear of Barrdenn Barbariennes S.C.])
National anthem (for sports): ‘The Banner Green And Gold’.
Official supporters' organisation: 'Arri's Furry Army'.

Yes, it still is an all-female team. As I’ve explained before, this is because the main ball-game that's traditionally been played in Bears Armed is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer — and trying to establish a professional league for that sport for themselves instead — might be a viable alternative: They were right, because that professional league was founded shortly after WC44 and so has now been in operation for over an eightSquared of years.

All of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears)], except for any whom I actually specify as being members of other ‘peoples’ instead. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, anyway, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairiness), but are spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

According to Bears Armed’s timeline, the qualifiers for WC65 take place in 2093-’2094
AD, and the Cup proper in 2095AD: All figures given here for people’s ages and lengths of experience are the values applying in the first of those three years.

Manager & Chief Coach: Darrarlha o GoodSword
(female Ursine, from the Sun Clan; played with the Belles from DBC21 & WC59 through to the final of WC62, primarily as a Lynchpin although she was also capable of substituting into other Defence or Midfield positions, and was their Captain for the latter part of that career; her home team was the Sun Valley Smashers, with whom she filled a similar role and where she was also captain for a while; playing experience = 20 years; age = 44 years, managerial experience = 9 years, starting as Deputy Manager just after WC62 and promoted to her current position after WC63; ambidextrous, fur = blonde; a superlative player, and a good tactician. She wore with pride the same number “26” that her aunt Urrthra o GoodSword — who died heroically in the fighting against the ‘Dead Bears Walking’ — bore through several Cups, which has now been retired in honour of Urrthra’s memory.)

Deputy Manager-&-Coach: Harrashia o Redwood
(female Ursine; Clan = Redwood; age = 50 years, ambidextrous, fur = medium-brown with hints of russet; she is a great-great-niece of Harroya “of the Rovers” o Redwood, former captain of the Bear-Belles, but gained a place in the team on merit. (She made her international debut as a substitute in DBC 19, joining the Belles for WC57 initially as a forward; she ended her national playing career in WC62, as a ‘Utility Outfielder’ Forward /Winger/Midfielder substitute) and filled similar roles at Merlchester Rovers through most of her 27 years’ playing experience as well; appointed as the team’s ‘Attacking Coach’ in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC63 and then to this job in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC65.)

Deputy Manager (Admin): Amarra Marra o Harruor
(female Ursine, from Clan Harruor Erruur; formerly a staff member at BAAS, appointed to this job just before DBC21; age = 52, fur = medium-brown).

Assistant Deputy Manager (Admin): Harreethe Sareeen
(female Ursine, from Clan GreyBear; formerly a staff member at BAAS, who was appointed to this job in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC63; her duties include acting as the team’s ‘routemaster’, which means handling all of their travelling arrangements; age = 35, fur = light brown).

Defensive Coach: Lueth’hree Redwood _ Clan = Redwood; playing experience = 30 years; age = 41 years, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown. (She made her international debut in DBC21 and also played in Brevity Cup 2, both of which the Bears won, before the qualifiers for WC60, and then remained in the Belles [primarily as a Left Back] through to the end of WC64; appointed to this job shortly after that. Her home team was River City.)

Attacking Coach:

Doctor: Herrath Harrn
(female Brock [i.e. anthropomorphic Badger], from the ‘Brocken Brackh’ nation; age = 32, right-pawed, fur = black & white; hired just before the start of WC65’s qualifiers.)

Physiotherapist: Erra Karrach
(female Ursine, Clan = Kettar-Surra; age = 28, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown & quite short; just hired, after WC63.)

Chaplain, ‘One Plus Seven’: Urrsulha Nightfall
(female Ursine from the Silver-of-Night; age = early-50s (?), left-pawed, fur = silvery; assigned to this job, by the Great Medicine Society, just before the qualifiers for WC57.)

Chaplain, Ursion: Ursiosopher Dorr-Surra
(male Ursine, from Clan Redwood; age = 43; left-pawed, fur = medium-brown with traces of chestnut; formerly a deputy chaplain at Bullford University, transferred to this post in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC63 after his predecessor here was appointed to a senior administrative job at the main temple in New Sarrum instead; he has a doctorate in Anthropology, and is a skilled organist who is really more interested in [Baroque] music than he is in sports.)

Security Chief: Commander Halgrimm Harrlh’s-son
(male Ursine, from Clan Thulean; age =40, left-pawed, fur = light brown; seconded from the Confederal Navy, and has considerable experience of dealing with foreigners; appointed to this job in preparation for the ‘qualifiers’ stage of WC63.)

Caterers: Famhwuie Girronty.

‘Mascot’: ‘The Wise Grorrfinn’
(male ‘TrueBear’; age = undisclosed [but considering some of his appearances in old stories apparently somewhere over 1’500, at least...], ambidextrous, fur = medium-brown) (During WC54 it was revealed that he is the maternal grandfather of Urra ‘Honey’ SunBlesséd, which presumably explains her youthful longevity.)

Roster

Starters

(#1) Marranna NorthStar _ Clan = NorthStar [‘Free Sept’]; home team = NorthPort Navigators, category & usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 26 years; age = 39 years, right-pawed, fur = very light brown, she has very quick reflexes and keen senses. (She made her international debut in DBC21.)

(#2) Urranna o Barrdenn _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = River City, category = Defender, usual position = Left Back, experience = 17 years; age = 32 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & quite long. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

(#3) Urrsa Barroth _ Clan = SeaBear; Home team = Kerne Konquerors, category = Defender (or Midfielder), usual position = Right Back (or Right Half), experience = 13 years; age = 27 years, right-pawed, fur = light brown & quite long. (She made her international debut for the Belles in the qualifiers for WC63.)

(#4) Urrsa BigBear _ Clan = GreenWoods; Home team = Barrden Barbariennes, category & usual position = Lynchpin, experience = 14 years; age = 28 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & quite long, 7’6” tall & proportionately broad but fast on her feet anyway. (She made her international debut in WC60.)

(#6) Errond’hrra Thunder-Child _ Clan = Gunnar; Home team = PassPort Athletic, category = Midfielder or Winger, usual position = Right Half or Right Winger, experience = 18 years; age = 32 years, right-pawed, fur = dark brown. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

(#7) Alfreda Beorninga _ Clan = Beorning; Home team = Merlchester Rovers, category = Midfielder, usual position = Midfield Left, experience = 17 years (with 6 of those, ending just a season before she joined the Belles, across the border at Flowerwood Rangers in the Human-dominated nation of Mikitivity…); age = 34 years, left-pawed, fur = dark-medium brown & quite short; she’s relatively small for an Ursine (only 6’5” tall) but don’t underestimate her if you’re wise… (She made her international debut for the Belles in the qualifiers for WC63.)

(#11) Sarrathrie Sevens _ Clan = Clouded Sun [Free Sept]; Home team = River City, category = Forward, usual position = any Forward (versatile), experience = 21 years; age = 37, ambidextrous, fur = cream; is a incredibly accurate shot, partly because she has very good sight even by human standards, is very accurate agile too. (She actually made her international debut as a member of the Bears’ team for DBC22, although the roster for that squad has never been made widely known, but the qualifiers for WC61 were her first time playing for her country again since then: She’s been verry thoroughly vetted, and seems to have been innocent of any involvement in whatever conspiracy it was that over-rode own BAAS’s plans for that earlier tournament.)

(#12) Sorrkhie Torr’hay_ Tiggrahth'hrra (i.e. anthropomorphic Tiger); Clan = Tiggrahth'hrra; Home team = Heroes’ Park Heroines, category = Forward, any Forward (versatile), experience = 18 years; age = 32 years, ambidextrous, fur = orange & black stripes. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

[#13] Krissie Fairbearrn _ Clan = Sun; Home team = Kingly City, category = Forward/Winger, usual position = Right Forward or Right Winger, experience = 16 years; age = 30 years, right-pawed, fur = golden-brown, verry good eyesight. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

(#15) Varrna o Kerr-Surra _ Clan = WestWoods; Home team = Wiston United, category = Winger or Midfielder, usual position = Right Winger or Right Half, experience = 16 years; age = 31 years, left-pawed, fur = cream; Lowfurran Christian. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

(#16) Harrietta Karra o Hara _ Invisible Wabbit; Clan = BerryGlades (by adoption); home team = WideWindle Wanderers, category = Winger or Midfielder, usual position = Right Winger (' Outside Right') but has proven that she can play well on the left as well, experience = 29+ years; age = ???, ambidextrous, fur = light grey; she is INVISIBLE to most "mundane" people, but those should still be able to see the kit that she's wearing; less likely to resort to "ridiculous" trickery than might be the case in an all-Wabbit team, but still quite likely to do things like using her long ears to hold the ball in place on top of her head or running along on her hands whilst juggling the ball with her feet, both of which would of course make tackling her [within the rules] rather difficult. (WC59 was her international debut.)

Substitutes

(#5) Affra o SouthWoods _ Clan = WestWoods; Home team = WestPort City, category & usual position = Goalkeeper, experience = 16 years; age = 33 years, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown. (She made her international debut for the Belles in the qualifiers for WC63.)

(#16) Affehhindh’hrra Savernake _ Clan = Errhabarra; Home team = Harr Burran Heroines, category = Defender or Midfielder, usual position = Right Back or Right Half but can also play well on the left, experience = 18 years; age = 34 years, right-pawed, fur = light-medium brown. (She made her international debut in ‘Brevity Cup III’, the year before WC62’s qualifiers began.)

(#20) Arranna Sa’Martan _ Clan = WestWoods; Home team = WestPort United, category & usual position = Lynchpin (but also versatile as Midfielder), experience = 15 years; age = 30 years, right-pawed, fur = dark brown’; she is a cousin of #23. (She made her international debut for the Belles in the qualifiers for WC63.)

Style: Offensive, modifier = +4.0… ("A good offence is the best defence"...)
Their usual formation will include a front row of at least 5 (normally arranged as 3 strikers & 2 wingers), with 2 midfielders, 2 backs, and either a ‘Defensive Centre’ (whose starting position would be at the midpoint of an imaginary cross drawn between those other four non-forwards’ positions) or a third midfielder depending on the Manager’s decision before each match.

RP injuries to my players / Godmod injuries to my players / Hand out Yellow cards to my players / Hand out Red cards to my players: Y to all, at least to start with, but remember what I've written here and keep it in limits accordingly... Any serious offences by my players would probably result in injuries to your players, and causing any serious injuries to my players would probably require such obviously-deliberate attacks that your players would get yellow or even red cards as a result too. Don’t kill anybody, or inflict injuries that would be serious enough to end careers, without checking with me & getting my approval (which is unlikely to be granted…) first.
Godmod Other Events: Y, I suppose, at least as long as you do so in an AMUSING way... but please remember that Ursines are fully sapient beings, as much as Humans are, not instinct-driven animals. Oh, and of course female Ursines are not sexually interested in Humans (of either sex), and it's very unlikely that female Harr'ayanau would be either. Please don't have them run amok or outright revert to animality, without checking by TG first, don't make assumptions about their views on politics or religion, and don't do anything that would make more than one of them incapable of playing in their next game...

Kit: This incarnation of the team will normally wear the usual set of designs (from ‘ediraf’) that the Belles have favoured in the past, with the ‘Association’ badges correctly staying ‘BAAS’ rather than [the now obsolete] ‘BAMAS’. See "here" for details. However, unlike the incarnations of this team that you’ve actually seen playing before, they have a set of five stars—one for each World Cup triumph (in their own timeline, and all after WC62…) that the Belles had “already” achieved before the match from which they were brought here.
Bears Armed has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, and this has affected the set of numbers used for this team’s players: The numbers “10”, “22”, and “26” have been left unassigned out of respect for wearers who went to their deaths as heroines during various conflicts.

Home grounds

1/. Wimbley Stadium:[/b] Located a few miles to the north-north-west of Council Groves (our capital city), to which it is connected by rail as well as by road, this stadium was built from scratch — on part of a former Confederal Army base’s site — shortly before the qualifiers for WC52 began as a replacement for the Bear-Belles original “home” at ‘Plumtrees Park’ which has now been demolished. Its current capacity is approximately 60'000 for Ursines: Fitting about 40’000 humans into the visiting fans' half should be possible, and so that's as many as we'll let into the country. Accommodation for visiting teams & their staffs will be provided in a new hotel, less than a mile away, which has staff who are accustomed to dealing with Humans as well as with Ursines. The various other hotels in that complex and those at Council Groves can now provide about 12’000 rooms at a time, at varying prices, although of course some of those may already have been booked by people who have nothing to do with the Cup. Accommodation (at a fairly basic level) for up to 15’000 supporters will be available, at reasonable prices, in students' residences for the National University’s campus in that city: if any more than all of those facilities put together can house want to attend a match then they’ll have to borrow space in the area’s remaining Army camp instead...
There are still no direct inter-regional flights into Council Groves, so that visitors will have to travel by way of one of our neighbours and then continue onwards by one of the limited number of "local" air-flights or by rail. (People planning to arrive by rail will still have to travel via the nation of Mikitivity, but extra services will be organised on that route...)
This site will be used for most, but not all, of the Belles' matches. (list to be added)

2./ ‘NorthLands National Stadium’: Located at NorthPort, the most cosmopolitan city in The Ursine Northlands, this facility was originally built for use by the 'Northbears' WC49’s qualifiers. Unfortunately the place has since seen rather less use than was originally hoped, but it is still in good condition and will hold about 43’000 Ursines or over 60’000 humans (or, of course, proportionate numbers of a mixture of those two species) because it was deliberately built to be rather larger than 'Plumtrees Park' which was then the Mainland's 'national' stadium…
This site will be used for some of the Belles’ home games (list to be added), and also for some of their friendlies & matches in other Cups during this period as specified separately.
Foreigners coming to this stadium may either travel to the ‘Mainland’ and then continue hence via a set of ancient [& probably magical] ‘Gates’ that link the country’s two sections — completing their journey by either rail or riverboat after that — or take ship directly to NorthPort.

NOTES

Ursines may tend to be a bit less agile & slower to accelerate than humans on average, but this team's members were carefully selected so the gap between them & their opponents in this respect should be narrower than some people might expect. They do tend to have [slightly] poorer eyesight than humans, on the whole (although the members of both Clan Gunnar and the Sun Clan are generally an exception to this rule, and the eyesight of the latter group is actually often at [slightly] better-than-human levels instead), so long-distance passes & shots at goal will tend to be rarer behaviour for them than they are for human teams... but their typical size & strength mean that when they're running with the ball it will probably take a very brave human — as well as a very skilled one — to tackle them successfully (or, at least, one who has reasonable experience of playing against Ursines…), which should balance that factor pretty well. They don’t jump very well, but then they’re generally rather taller than most Human players to start with so they shouldn’t need to jump as often in order to intercept [relatively] high shots...
Ursines are physically robust, of course, which means that they're much less likely than humans are to suffer injuries in falls or collisions. The females of this species are more even-tempered than the males, and the team's members will try to stay on their best behaviour not only in order to do well in this contest but also to impress upon the watching humans that Ursines aren't just "dumb beasts". They will not 'dive', or feign injury in other ways, because suggesting that they could be harmed so easily goes strongly against the grain. ‘Northlanders’ are maybe not quite as "civilised" as the 'Mainlanders'… or, at any rate, that’s the traditional stereotype..
Cold weather should pose no problem to them, even if there's snow or ice on the pitch, but tropical heat might prove awkward...

Unless our hosts at the match in question object, this team's members (including the designated substitutes for the match in question) will perform a [fairly short] ritual that's called the 'harrdiharr' on the pitch just before play begins... This is a traditional war-dance, meant to over-awe opponents, that has come to be a customary prelude for team games as well (similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' 'haka'...). : )
As has now been seen during various tournaments, some of our fans like to take drums — and possibly also 'Urrs-horns' [which are similar to Alpenhorns, cow-horns, or other "musical instruments", too — along to the matches…

The team is accompanied by a number of sapient Ravens, who are there both to gather information about the rival sides and to provide air cover in case of hostile waterfowl.

World Cup 65

Once again, the time has come for the World Cup. Millions of people from both HorusLand and the rest of the world watched the final of the Baptism of Fire, where Aels won against Felix on penalties, 2-1. Soon after, the qualification phase details, and World Cup Rankings, had been posted.

HorusLand has advanced seven places in the rankings since the last World Cup. Our chance to win has come again, and our odds have been getting better. Though HorusLand is only expected to reach sixth place in the qualification phase, this is surely better than our previous attempts. Armed Bears
(alias ‘The Bear-Belles’...)

For the information of those amongst you who are fairly new to NS Sports: Yes, this is a team — and nation — consisting primarily of anthropomorphic Bears.
For the information of those amongst you who have already been around NS Sports for a while: Yes, this nation does have the same player as Bears Armed… but IC, instead of this nation being a ‘puppet’ of that other country, they are actually ‘alternative reality’ counterparts of each other and didn’t even know of each other’s existence before this tournament.
The current year in Armed Bears converts into the Gregorian calendar as 2041
AD, even though for footballers from Bears Armed it is now the year 2093AD or thereabouts instead!

This is another all-female team, for the same reason that Bears Armed’s team falls into that category: The main ball-game that's traditionally been played in their homeland so far is actually a form of Rugby, but [for several reasons] the professional league for that sport is all-male and so a few years ago (in 2006
AD, actually) some of the female players decided that switching to Soccer instead -- and trying to establish a professional league for that -- might be a viable alternative.

The ages & lengths of experience given here are accurate for the first half of the qualifiers, but you'll need to add 1 year for them during second half of qualifiers and another 1 year for them during either World Cup (if they get there) or Cup of Harmony if you want the correct values then.

Almost all of the players are actual Ursines (i.e. anthropomorpic, bipedal Bears), except in any cases where I actually specify otherwise. The Harr'aynau people are physically human (more-or-less, although inclined towards heavy builds & hairyness) but spiritually & culturally Ursine instead.

Manager: Harrya o Herrchaum
(Ursine female from Clan Herrchaum; transferred to management/coaching team two years ago, after the team failed to qualify for WC60 & didn't receive its Cup of Harmony invitation in time to reply successfully; before then was a player, in this team and for the ''Mighty Redwoods'; category = Striker, preferred position = Right Forward, Soccer experience = 20 years as player & 18 in management; promoted to manager as well before the qualifiers for WC62; age = 60, left-pawed, fur = light brown.)

Chief Coach: Ug-Ug.
(Yes, hrreally that Ug-Ug, from The Holy Empire, he who “knows not how to lose“… What more needs to be said?)

Goalkeeping Coach: Urrth’hra o Porrwath
(female Ursine; Clan = Eastern League; she played as a goalkeeper for the Belles WC58-62, ending as their usual ‘starter’ in that role, whilst her home team was Mirron Marvels, category & usual position = Goalkeeper; she had 24 years of playing experience before retiring from the field to take up this coaching position in the run-up to WC63’s ‘qualifiers’ stage; age = 49, left-pawed, fur = medium-brown.)

Defending Coach: Harroya 'Silver' Gray
(female Ursine; Clan = Eastern Hills [Ally]; she played as a Defender or Midfielder for the Belles WC58-62, usually as a member of their ‘starting’ line-up and sometimes even as Lynchpin & acting Captain; her home team was ‘Dynamo OstPort’, for home she performed similar duties, and she had years of playing experience before retiring from the field to take up this coaching position in the run-up to WC63’s ‘qualifiers’ stage; age = 49, left-pawed, fur = light greyish-brown.)

Attacking Coach: Harroya ‘of the Rovers’ o Redwood
(female Ursine; Clan = Redwood; she played for the belles (primarily as Right Forward, and usually as a starter) in WC58-62, and for her home team of Merlchester Rovers from a few years before that, until retiring from the field to take up this coaching position in the run-up to WC63’s ‘qualifiers’ stage, with 27 years of playing experience; age = 50, left-pawed, fur = light brown; she would NOT break the rules (not even at the 'yellow card' level; never even carded once, in either national or international play) but managed to be a very successful “attacking” player without being an overly “aggressive” one... and was noted as being very good at setting up opportunities for her team-mates, but only seeming to score herself when the team really NEEDED that goal.

(Identifying numbers & players’ names will be in black if on yellow, or in white if on green: Armed Bears has traditionally used base-8 arithmetic, for several reasons, so the sequence used here will be _ 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, etc...)

Home Ground

All of the team’s ‘home’ games during this Cup’s qualifying stages will be played in the Royal Arena at Urrath-am-Barrah, the nation’s capital city, which can seat approximately 60’000 people. Up to 10’000 places will be available for visitors.
The easiest means of access to this nation will be by means of an ancient (and probably magical) set of “Gates”, whose keepers can open them to locations in the other countries concerned if those other nations are willing to accept this: Otherwise, it will require a sea-voyage to one of our neighbours and then a quite lengthy journey overland by rail or road…

Mytanar National Team.

Image

Manager.
Manager - Marius Sadowsky - 51 - Mytannion.
Sadowsky has been one of the more successful managers in recent Mytanars history, having won 6 Mytanar Top League titles and 1 National Cup in a twelve year period at Atletik Thessia. He's a manager who champions attacking football above all else and this could herald a change for the Mytanar National Team that has been used to some efficient and 'heartless' football - as it has been called by some observers in the Mytanar media - in recent years. He's had success on the domestic scene but he'll have a tough job in following Brian McDermott in terms of success on the international scene as the outgoing Charmunnry manager guided the team to their first success, winning the Cup of Harmony. Sadowsky will hope to get Mytannion back onto the biggest stage in world football though and qualify for the World Cup. It could be more difficult than in previous years though - the Hoops will no longer be a top seed in the Group (or so it is expected) and this could leave them with a fair number of quality teams that could challenge them all the way. Sadowsky will hope to spring the team back to the top at the first attempt and then after that, will look to get out of the Group Stage for only the fourth time in Mytanar footballing history. He has the background to give it a good go, but will the team he selects have the quality to do so? Let's meet them.

Starting XI.
#1 - GK - Demy de Zooijt - 34 - East Franz Athletic (Polar Islandstates) - 110 caps
An extremely experienced goalkeeper who has played a lot of football all across the globe. Demy de Zooijt is a mainstay of the Mytanar national team for the past few World Cups and his stalwart performances have made sure that he'll always be remembered as one of the greats. His reflexes are good even still and his command of his 18-yard box is among the best in the world. He of course had been pushed out of the starting role by Istomin a few years ago, but his fantastic form has reclaimed the starting job and his performances since then have perhaps guaranteed him the role until he decides to call time on his international career.

#2 - DL - Lev Repin - 30 - FC Ararat Severyan - 78 caps, 6 goals - Captain
The ever reliable Lev Repin comes back into the team once again and its likely he'll be involved for a long time to come as when asked if was considering calling time on his international career any time soon he replied bluntly: "No." He wants to play and until his performances start becoming way below his consistently high standard will he ever be pushed out of the starting role. He's basically kept young Rob Fridrich out of the role because he's just so good and he probably should play for a bigger team than FC Ararat. A tough, no nonsense tackler who deals with what is in front of him and then transitions well into attacks with pinpoint crossing. He's also a big threat from set pieces, his crossing and free kick ability are extremely good. His fitness levels are as good as ever too, he's now played nearly 300 times for his club side since breaking into the team there. He's well liked by the whole squad and has taken over the National Team captaincy full-time with Robin Hjik retiring from football.

#3 - DC - Martin Latka - 30 - FC Torshavn (Polar Islandstates) - 107 caps, 6 goals
The big man at the back. Latka's 6'7 frame means he bosses all aerial battles and largely negates the effect a targetman forward, however, he has never been the quickest and as he gets older his pace wanes even more. He is of course paired with one of the better centre backs in the world at the moment though and that does mean he has some room for manouevre there. Latka is a big man in this team both literally and because of how important he is in motivating the squad. Him and Repin have come through the ranks together and they looked to for support by a lot of the squad. Latka will be important once again this campaign as he cements his position as one of the best Mytanar defenders ever - alongside the likes of Swen Kislasson and Adrian Njulae.

#4 - DC - Narek Berozhserkovsky - 25 - Dinamo Esca - 27 caps, 3 goals
Berozhserkovsky has to be considered one of the better defenders in the world right now. He is well-rounded and still has some room for development too, he's only 25 after all. The question for him really has to be when or if he's going to move on from Dinamo Esca. He could certainly ply his trade in Astograth or the Polar Islandstates and he needs to decide what his answer will be if a team from a big league does come calling. His physical attributes make him ideal alongside Latka, he's quick and strong and has exceptional tactical awareness too. He brings to the table a good aerial ability and world class tackling and that means he'll be around the national set-up for a long time to come. He has been noted as a potential future captain, too.

#5 - DR - Dennis Adkvissen - 29 - SK Aasiaat Harbour (Polar Islandstates) - 97 caps, 2 goals
Adkvissen is good defensively. He deals with any attacking threat from the opponent quite solidly, his tackling is good and he uses his pace to good effect to keep up with quick wingers. He's developed well over the years into a solid defensive full back, he won't offer too much going forwards - though his crosses from deep are effective and he's decent from set pieces too - his footballing intelligence is one of the best and he anticipates the play well. His physical attributes are good too, being tall and strong.

#6 - DMC - Tikhon Voronin - 26 - Liria Prizren - 76 caps, 6 goals
Voronin has grown into the role as a player for both the national side and for his domestic team. He's improved his disciplinary record and gets less silly bookings. He's still as aggressive as ever and does slide in as often, but his tackling is much improved. His role is to break-up the play and move the ball on with the national team and that is exactly what he does. His passing is good and that is what is necessary in the role. He slots into the defence when there is a need for it to.

#7 - DMC - Dobroslav Stojanovic - 26 - Atletik Thessia - 72 caps, 26 goals
A formerly goalscoring midfield used in a box-to-box fashion who is being moved back into a more deep-lying role in order to transition to the new formation the national team is going to use. He'll play alongside Voronin but will be given a bit more license to roam forward than his partner there. Stojanovic is sort of the long-term heir to Robin Hjik - but this move will mean he'll be involved more in the creation of chances from now on, rather than the conversion of them. It's good that he's good at both passing and shooting, isn't it? He'll still score a few goals, but will have to rely on late runs rather than being directly involved in all chances. Physically, he's good, quick and has excellent stamina, he's not so good in the air but he doesn't really use it all that often. He'll score from long-range often enough too. A threat even in his deep-lying role, the opposition will have to watch for him.

#8 - AML - Ismet van Huijgevoort - 25 - SK Franz Josef City (Polar Islandstates) - 55 caps, 22 goals
A player who has been rewarded with a £20 million move from Atletik Thessia for his good performances will be showing off just another reason why he's so good as he changes position in the national set-up. Having played as a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder he'll now play off the left flank and become a different sort of weapon for the national team. He's an extremely creative player and very forward thinking, he'll try and dribble through defences and will have a knack for moving inside rather than staying out on the wing. His finishing is top class and his passing is pinpoint accurate. He'll be a thorn in the side of defences throughout this campaign.

#9 - AMC - Snerik Oiskha - 23 - FC Torshavn (Polar Islandstates) - 88 caps, 18 goals
88 caps aged 23?! What is that all about? Oiskha could well break the all-time record, set by Robin Hjik, who managed 182 caps altogether. However, he has his position under threat because of a young man by the name of Mikkel Kohlemainen - whose performances in the Top League have got him selected for the national team and its likely he could overtake Oiskha in the pecking order soon enough. Oiskha remains the starter for a bit longer though, he'll be a prime creator once again while he plays, using his passing ability to tee-up chances for his team mates. His position is truly under threat and a few under-par performances will see Kohlemainen taking up the starting role.

#10 - AMR - Iivari Kaitanen - 23 - Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth) - 72 caps, 34 goals
The poacher is moving out to the right-wing to utilise his speed and interplay. He'll play in an advance role though and will get involved with most of the attacks going down the left, which will allow him to drift inside and add another man in the box. He is a classic goal poacher though and he'll be extremely dangerous in that part of the game. His crossing should be useful too, he loves to hit a low cross and the new man in the front line will take that. Kaitanen will roam a fair bit, moving inside and forward and will use his clinical finishing to the best of its ability when possible too. His speed will be crucial in counter attacks - where he will be most useful. His movement and good heading ability for a 5'9 forward will also be important.

#11 - ST - Eugeny Ivanov - 28 - Urbanista (Apox) - Uncapped
Bringing an uncapped player into the national team line-up to replace the legendary Laze v Tuhinju?! Sadowsky what are you playing at?! But no seriously, Ivanov has quietly gone about forging a good, solid career for himself in Apox and has regularly scored over 10 goals a season for the past few years. In a small league, that is not something to be joked about. He's a strong forward with a big physical presence and he'll really be a danger to the opposition in the air. 17 goals last season for Urbanista justified the call-up for Sadowsky and it is hoped his mixture of good finishing and clinical aerial ability will make him a threat to the opposition throughout this World Cup cycle.

Substitutes.
#12 - GK - Kondrat Istomin - 28 - Bastion (FSSO) - 34 caps
He's reliable and he held down the national team #1 spot for a long while because of this. He's done the same for Bastion in the FSSO. He isn't the tallest goalkeeper but his reflexes save him regularly and are what make him so good, he anticipates shots well also. He's lost the starting gig purely because de Zooijt is in such good form. It's expected he'll get the starting job back when de Zooijt retires.

#13 - DL - Rob Fridrich - 25 - Atletik Thessia - 19 caps, 2 goals
He's a solid player who will offer a sturdy and reliable replacement. He's good going forward too, offering a more attacking option at the back if there is any transition needed. He's learnt a lot over the past four or so seasons and moved from a small club in Turbine Decraa to a big club in the form of Atletik where he was given a chance to fulfil his potential and he has done that. He'll be the eventual replacement to Lev Repin, we'd imagine although he should carry on for years. Fridrich is good defensively too and has definitely improved that side of his game.

#14 - DC - Miro Obad - 26 - Liria Prizren - 7 caps
Recent success with both the club side and in appearances with the national team has meant that Obad has been rewarded with being moved up the pecking order with his national team. He's not the tallest defender but is quick and can deal with problems because of his positioning and anticipation. He's an aggressive defender too - he isn't dangerous - he fights for every last ball and he lets the opposition know he's there. He's not awful in the air either, he has a good spring and makes a good connection, he is just occasionally out jumped by the opposition.

#15 - DMC - Thorvar Prijholm - 24 - FC Deska (United Gordonopia) - 30 caps, 3 goals
He's definitely the long-term replacement for Musa Kiril. A simple player who does things well and makes sure he does his job game in, game out, is sometimes a player that is a necessity to the team they play for. Prijholm is a tough tackler and a good passer who moves the ball along and does a good job defensively in order to combat the opposition. He will be able to utilise his long-range passing a little more now that van Huijgevoort and Kaitanen will be playing a little wider and he'll spray passes all over the field. Him and Voronin will once again be rotated, with Prijholm offering a slightly different option and his aerial ability makes him a danger at corners too, which is always useful.

#16 - MC - Artem Sharov - 22 - Dinamo Esca - 6 caps, 2 goals
A more attacking option to have. He's more offensively minded and his finishing and forward thinking reflect this. He'll be brought on when the team need something new or need a change of shape, with him probably being placed in the centre of the park alongside Stojanovic with a defensive midfielder behind and two wingers/an attacking midfielder and a pair of strikers. Sharov will score plenty when allowed a chance on the pitch but he'll need to be given that license in order to play to the best of his abilities. He's good at dribbling at speed and that causes defenders all sorts of issues - watch for him to contribute with a few more good performances and a couple of goals this cycle.

#17 - AMC - Mikkel Kohlemainen - 19 - Arka Snezhnaya - Uncapped
A legend in the making here. Kohlemainen is so far uncapped, but has all the makings of a top player after scoring 9 goals in 30 appearances for Arka Snezhnaya last term. That's from his less favoured position of centre midfield - imagine if he was given the chance to roam forward and create more chances for himself with out having to worry about defensive stuff. In the national team, he won't have them worries and will be able to use his top class finishing and dribbling skills to get involved in attacks and score goals. The counter-attacking ethos of this team is reflected in Kohlemainen who is pacy and adept at pulling off quick passes and that is what the future of the national side appears to be grounded in.

#18 - ST - Kristian Haugen - 22 - Energia-Yaderny Miago - 6 caps, 6 goals
Many questioned why the Hero of Miago wasn't given the starting role here, after all, his record in Mytanar football is untouchable (well, by other than Miki Sipilainen but he isn't Mytanar!). 92 goals in 137 games in a top league in the world makes his skill undeniable. It is believed that Sadowsky believed him to be a little raw for the international scene even still - his 6 goals in 6 games record telling another story. His finishing is clinical, his involvement in build-up play excellent and his speed blistering. Him and Kaitanen would be a dynamic pairing up front, but Sadowsky's change in formation has meant Ivanov will be preferred, purely for his more physically imposing presence. Look for Haugen to score a lot of goals off the bench, though.

Reserves.
#19 - GK - Stefan Wallinaar - 24 - Liria Prizren - 2 caps
Nobody can say he's only here because of a lack of top-level goalkeepers anymore because Stefan Wallinaar is now a top talent in his own right. After a few seasons at Liria Prizren where he has been a part of a title winning squad on three occasions he has now got to be considered as one of the best goalkeepers around the nation. He's tall and well-built and that really is the foundation of a good 'keeper. He's got a good command of his area and is not hesitant to get amongst the heads in aerial duels whilst also not fearing a dive at the feet of a forward. He's an all-rounder and will have to be the goalkeeper for the national team one day.

#20 - DC - Tim Dalgaard - 22 - Arka Snezhnaya - Uncapped
Dalgaard is a top defender and has to be considered a future starter for the national team. After a few years of Mytannion producing fairly few top-level talents the production line is whirring into full flow now and players of good quality are appearing from everywhere. Dalgaard is a tall, physically imposing defender who retains some pace. He is a good tackler and extremely good in the air and really is going to be the future of this national side. A definite contender for the captaincy in the coming years - him and Berozhserkovsky is the likely partnership in the centre of defence in the future. He just needs some experience under his belt first. Top prospect, top player.

#21 - DR - Vidoslav Kovacic - 24 - Liria Prizren - Uncapped
Everybody said he would one day play on the national team and here he is now! A player who has plied his trade for Fk Arsika in the past and has played a lot of minutes in the Top League even at a fairly young age. He has the experience to deal with top level football and can be considered a worthy replacement should he be required in the event of an injury to Dennis Adkvissen at any point. Another Mytanar full back with a tendency to be rather good from set pieces, he also offers a good, rounded defensive ability too. He just needs some international level experience now, to make sure he's ready for the big step up.

#22 - MC - Yuri Matveyev - 19 - Liria Prizren - Uncapped
Everybody expected him to be called-up soon. His performances for Liria Prizren II impressed everybody and that earned him plaudits from all quarters and after an impressive opening season in the Mytanar Top League, Marius Sadowsky had no option but to call him up and give him the chance he deserves. Quick feet, deft passing and a good strike are what make Matveyev such a threat - and of course his loyalty to the cause. His pure support for Liria Prizren and the nation exudes from his every pore and he will give everything he's got. He's also added a mean tackle to his repertoire and many opposition players have been stung by this. He'll have to learn to keep it in check.

#23 - AML/C - Severin Haraldsson - 23 - Atletik Thessia - Uncapped
Picked on the basis of an incredible season for Spartak Nalchik - a side who struggled against relegation from the Top League - in which he scored 12 goals in 30 games and basically carried his side over the line. He became their main threat, working around a striker and using his speed and rangy physique to cause the opposition problems. He's tall and quick, meaning he's dangerous in the air but also when he has the ball at his feet and he can score goals from a fair bit out fairly often too. Haraldsson was a surprise pick - especially with others such as Stanislav Navratil and Josef Vitek preferred, but it's hoped he'll justify his selection. If he doesn't, Sadowsky may be disappointed for more than just that reason - but for also recommending him to incoming Atletik Thessia manager Swen Kislasson.

#24 - AMC/R - Aleksandr Kulikov - 24 - Iturributa United - 21 caps, 3 goals
A good attacking option again. He's more likely to start on the right in this campaign, coming into the side in any of the so called 'easier' games in order to rest some of the more high profile options. The change in formation has basically given him another chance with the national team and has meant he'll probably keep his place for a little longer. His crossing will be valued in the squad and his ability to go past the opposition will mean he's a vital part of the rotation policy. His performances in Iturributa haven't gone unnoticed either, he's played well there and Sadowsky had to pick him.

#25 - ST - Bernd Schulz - 21 - Liria Prizren - Uncapped
Bernd Schulz was selected ahead of the global star Jakub Novotny. This has sent shockwaves across Mytanar football and Novotny has stated his disgust at not being selected very openly. It has been reported that he will refuse to ever play under Sadowsky. But anyway, the man selected was Bernd Schulz instead. His outstanding performances in the Mytanar Top League in the past few years have been fruitful as he has scored 34 league goals in 60 league games. He's another more physical option and if the team reverts to the 4-4-2 formation with a narrow diamond it's likely he'll be paired with one of the less physical forwards (Haugen or Kaitanen). Schulz is a good finisher, but better in the air. He's got good acceleration but his strength generally lies in his
ability to find space and utilise it well. He'll hope he can justify his selection ahead of the proven Novotny for this cycle.

Fans.
ImageImageImage

The fans are renowned for being violent, hooliganism is a huge, huge problem in Mytannion and this continues when their fans follow the national team overseas. Fans will cause trouble and light up flares, set off fireworks and carry massive flags with them. The ultras scene is quite vibrant in Mytannion too, often the club team's fans will band together to create 2-3 impressive choreographies per qualifying campaign.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
National Hoofball Team - World Cup 65 Roster

Introduction
After the most successful year ever for Equestrian States hoofball, the Ponies are finally being looked upon by the international community as one of the sport's quickest rising teams. With the national team finally qualifying for the World Cup, the under-21 squad cruising to a Di Bradini Cup title, and over a dozen top Equestrian players attracting the attention of respected clubs, things have never been better for the Equestrian States.

The 64th World Cup saw the Equestrian States national team go the distance in qualifying. Drawn into a group with powers Sargossa and Osarius, many wondered if the Ponies had it in them to rebound from disastrous World Cup 63 and Cup of Harmony 55 campaigns. But the Equestrians responded well to the pressure placed upon them, coming back from a shaky first few matches to go on the team's longest unbeaten streak in its history. During their stellar 13-2-0 start to qualifying, the Ponies stunned Osarius on the road with a 4-3 upset and scratched out a scoreless draw against top-seeded Sargossa. While the run of perfection would eventually come to an end with a narrow defeat against Osarius, the 21 match streak allowed the Equestrians to finish strong with a 13-4-1 record and qualify automatically for their first World Cup as the second-best runner-up in qualifying, avoiding the dreaded play-in matches where the team has historically struggled.

In the World Cup itself, the Ponies got off to a predictably rough start, falling to Polar Islandstates 2-0 in their finals debut. But once more, the Equestrian States proved themselves capable of rebounding, drawing against Saugeais before taking out their rivals from Yesopalitha to finish with an unexpected 1-1-1 record. Though the Ponies were eliminated from the Cup, nopony could say they weren't satisfied with the performance from a squad that few would have expected to make it to the World Cup.

But the string of successes for the Equestrian States has also led to a dramatic rise in fan expectations for the team. No longer is qualification the ultimate goal of the squad. Supporters will surely expect the Ponies to perform as their greatly-improved rank suggests, with qualifying being only an intermediate objective en route to the ambitious goal of advancing out of the World Cup group stage. Head Coach Twilight Striker will have to be careful though, now having to deal with the possibility of complacency in a squad packed with powerful youth talent. The top questions for the Equestrian national team are some that have never been asked before of the Ponies. Will the Equestrian States prove that the World Cup 64 campaign wasn't an outlier? Can the youngest Equestrian players live up to their successes in capturing the Di Bradini Cup title? Do the Ponies have what it takes to not only qualify for, but excel in the World Cup?

Players

Goalkeepers
#1 - GK - High Soarin' (Pegasus - Male) - 31 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers - 168 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
Aside from a couple of injury-induced vacations, High Soarin' has been the Equestrian States' starting goalkeeper since the team made its debut in Baptism of Fire 45. While he's no longer the youngest goalkeeper out there, High Soarin's experience and ability have allowed him to retain the starter's role year-after-year. Talent-wise, the pegasus may not be among the world's best, but is far from being a pushover, doing his job efficiently and persevering despite the occasional lapses suffered by the Equestrian defense.

#21 - GK - Gentle Breeze (Pegasus - Female) - 21 - Image Mardi Lopunnies (NSI) - 26 Caps, 1 Assist
The star goalkeeper of the "Little Ponies" U-21 squad, Gentle Breeze is also the first back-up on the national team. Just 21 years old, the youthful pegasus was absolutely instrumental in the Equestrian States' Di Bradini Cup title, posting four clean sheets in the knockout stage as the Little Ponies cruised to glory. Looking to make a bigger splash on the international scene, Gentle Breeze recently signed with Northern Sunrise Islands' Mardi Lopunnies and saw success in helping lead the club to a UICA Globe Cup spot. While she might not make the jump to national team starter for another couple of years, Gentle Breeze's talent makes her a valuable prospect for the national team, and is widely regarded as having the potential to be among the best in the world someday.

The following goalkeeper(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

#20 - GK - Barrel Roll (Earth Pony - Female) - 24 - Image Appleoosa HC - 5 Caps
Often looked upon as being the third wheel of a skilled Equestrian goalkeeping duo, Barrel Roll has been with the national team for several years. Though not the big-name star that Gentle Breeze and High Soarin' are in the Equestrian States, the earth pony mare is a capable keeper with a tremendous ability to clear the ball downfield. She probably won't ever be considered the top Equestrian goalkeeper, but few would dare consider her to be outside of the top five. Barrel Roll is often seen as being more immediately concerned with Appleoosa HC's league title aspirations than the national team, but is devoted to the Ponies and is content to sit back and let others take the glory, offering Head Coach Twilight Striker an option should the national team ever be plagued by injuries (as they were in World Cup 63) again.

Defenders
#3 - DF - Flitter (Pegasus - Female) - 25 - Image Ponyville United - 118 Caps, 7 Assists, 9 Goals
The sister of midfielder Cloudchaser, Flitter is a talented defender who is seen as the anchor of the Equestrian back line. While not the most consistent player on the team, Flitter's value cannot be understated. Having the ability to act as a defensive midfielder when the squad is on the attack, the pegasus mare provides Head Coach Twilight Striker with a dangerously speedy defender often tasked with intercepting passes between opposing midfielders and forwards.

#8 - DF - Andrea Molovi (Human - Female) - 24 - Image Stalliongrad HC - 92 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
As a starting defender, Andrea Molovi is one of the most overlooked members of the squad. With the eyes of a hawk and the speed of an enraged manticore, Molovi specializes in stealing the ball away from potential attackers and keeping up with the quickest forwards. One of the few humans to play at the highest levels of Equestrian club hoofball, Andrea Molovi is a well-respected player renowned for her surprisingly clean tackles and has one of the lowest yellow card totals of any Equestrian Premier League defender.

#17 - DF - Subtle Trix (Pegasus - Male) - 30 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers - 95 Caps, 1 Assist, 1 Goal
A regular on the national team, many of Subtle Trix's 80 appearances have come as a substitute. However, after several strong performances in the World Cup 64 qualifiers, Head Coach Twilight Striker decided to give him a chance and included Subtle Trix in the Equestrian States starting XI for the group stage. But despite recent successes, Subtle Trix cannot be considered a lock for the national team should they advance to the World Cup again this year. Past injuries and mistakes have always kept the pegasai's status in doubt, and Subtle Trix will have to continue to produce if he wants to keep his spot on the team.

#26 - DF - Blackmane (Earth Pony - Male) - 23 - Image Stilwater Saints (NSI) - 38 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
Another one of the Equestrian States' young stars, Blackmane is a defender with all the potential to be a great player. But in recent years, Blackmane has failed to live up to expectations, sometimes being the cause of defensive lapses and being one of the few Equestrian national team players to earn a red card in international play. The dark-furred earth pony recently signed an extension with the Stilwater Saints and is one of several Equestrian players to compete in Sunrise League One. Last season, Blackmane even managed to pull off something few analysts would have thought possible for a defender: appear on the league leaders list for most goals, finishing tied for fifth in Sunrise League One with 38 goals.

#22 - DF - Ironclaw (Griffon - Female) - 28 - Image Everfree Forest HC - 46 Caps, 1 Assist
It's rare to see a griffon play hoofball, but Ironclaw has been a regular on the national team ever since the first non-equines began to wear the purple and orange. Ironclaw is a physical defender, playing aggressively and not afraid to foul opponents, a clear break from the tendency of Equestrian defenders to rely on agility to steal the ball away. Head Coach Twilight Striker has been known to become frustrated with Ironclaw on occasion, but has retained the griffon's services for those matches where the Ponies face more physically-aggressive squads.

#19 - DF - Antonio Randall (Human - Male) - 27 - Image Kaje Football (UGO) - 22 Caps, 1 Assist
After falling short of making the final cut last year, Antonio Randall returned his name to the national team roster after a strong performance with Manechester United. With a spot on the national team for the World Cup group stage being Randall's ultimate objective; he made a transfer to United Gordonopia's Kaje Football in the hope that the bigger-name league would present him with the opportunity to prove his readiness for the national team. Antonio Randall is a fairly standard defender in terms of style, but is definitely capable of performing at the highest levels when having a good day.

The following defender(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

#6 - DF - Stronghoof (Buffalo - Male) - 23 - Image Stalliongrad HC - 74 Caps, 2 Assists, 1 Goal
The only buffalo to play for the national team, Stronghoof has flirted with the starting defender role a number of times, including getting the nod for several matches in World Cup 64 qualifying. Edged out of the starter's spot by Subtle Trix, Stronghoof is a physical defender like Ironclaw (albeit to a lesser extent) and isn't afraid to get dirty when going after opposing attackers. Aside from being the team's only buffalo player, Stronghoof is best known for his ability to make long clearing passes to the midfield, allowing the team to employ a devastating counterattack.

#16 - DF - Xena (Zebra - Female) - 26 - Image Whitetail Foresters - 3 Caps
Few expected the Equestrian Second League defender to make the national team, citing a lack of success at the club level with the once-mighty Whitetail Foresters as the best evidence for her exclusion from past national team squads. However, Head Coach Twilight Striker saw fit to give the zebra a shot at the team, allowing her to train with the Ponies after the conclusion of Market Cup VI. As far as Equestrian defenders go, Xena is fairly typical in her style of play, often doubling as a midfielder when on the attack. Xena will have a difficult challenge ahead of her if she wants to make the final cut for the team, the first step being earning her first cap.

#18 - DF - Horus (Unicorn - Female) - 22 - Image Canterlot Royals - 4 Caps
Although Horus is a new face on the Equestrian national team's senior squad, supporters are already more than familiar with the unicorn defender who was a key piece in the Equestrian U-21 squad which sprinted to the Di Bradini Cup title last year. Expectations for the agile Horus are relatively low, but her potential is more than enough to convince Twilight Striker to give her a shot at the national team.

#24 - DF - Brix Hamilton (Human - Female) - 21 - Image Nithgard GU (EAR) - 8 Caps, 1 Assist
The youngest defender on the national team, Brix Hamilton is another promising youth talent signed a couple years ago by Earent's Nithgard GU. Hamilton is a skillful player who has occasionally dabbled with shifting to a defensive midfielder role, but has thus far opted to remain with the back line where she has been perfecting her ability to cleanly tackle opponents without drawing costly fouls. Few expect Hamilton to make the final cut, but believe her spot on the national team is primarily to give her practice for the 28th Di Bradini Cup where she will undoubtedly join the Little Ponies in looking to defend their title.

Midfielders
#5 - MF - Starlight Sparkle (Unicorn - Female) - 28 - Image Ponyville United - 187 Caps, 90 Assists, 74 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
A starter for the national team ever since the first match of Baptism of Fire 45, Starlight Sparkle is one of the team's best players and has proven it time and time again on the pitch. At the club level, Starlight Sparkle has been a vital member of the Equestrian Premier League's repeat champions Ponyville United's runs in the UICA that has helped boost the prestige of the league internationally. The unicorn has also acted as a meter for the Ponies, with her own strings of success corresponding to those of the national team. Now entering her best years, Starlight Sparkle is a leader of the team in assists and in goals, providing the Equestrian States with a dangerous offensive weapon that opposing defenses must learn to deal with. Starlight Sparkle is particularly known for her pinpoint passes to set up forwards Fire Dash and Thunderlane for devastating strikes.

#9 - MF - Rainbow Blitz (Pegasus - Male) - 21 - Image Makosile United (VIL) - 66 Caps, 38 Assists, 33 Goals
Captain and undisputed leader of the U-21 squad, Rainbow Blitz has not only led the Little Ponies to consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals appearances, but has also been a crucial member of the national team since he first appeared in the purple and orange in the World Cup 63 qualifiers. Rainbow Blitz not only has the potential to be among the best Equestrian hoofball players of all-time, but perhaps a future contender for the title of World's Best Player. Signed by Makosile United of Vilita at the age of 19, Rainbow Blitz has quickly established himself as one of the top players in the V-League, taking Best Foreign Player honors last season after helping lead Makosile to a Stellar Division title and the UICA Champions' Cup semifinals. In Rainbow Blitz, the Equestrian States have one of the world's top young athletes and hope for a bright future in the World Cup.

#2 - MF - Cloudchaser (Pegasus - Female) - 25 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers - 120 Caps, 52 Assists, 36 Goals
Though not as well-known as Rainbow Blitz or Starlight Sparkle, Cloudchaser is easily one of the top midfielders in the Equestrian States. Cloudchaser has had her fair share of success with the national team, establishing herself as a team leader in assists in recent years. Quick and able to cover ground in a heartbeat, Cloudchaser often acts as a target for Flitter, relaying her sister's clearing passes into her opponent's third of the pitch and making a lightning-quick switch from defending to attacking.

#4 - MF - Apple Jack (Earth Pony - Male) - 26 - Image Mardi Lopunnies (NSI) - 120 Caps, 29 Assists, 13 Goals
Another midfield star for the national team, Apple Jack is a powerful presence on the pitch and one of the largest equine players to compete in the Equestrian Premier League. Unlike other stars for the squad, Apple Jack's talent lies more in the direction of a defensive midfielder rather than an attacker like Starlight Sparkle, Rainbow Blitz, Cloudchaser, or Rapid Dash. With considerable endurance (even by Equestrian standards), Apple Jack can be a threat to any team up through the very last minutes of the match, refusing to give opponents a rest. Apple Jack is a valued member of the team and contributes to the imposing five-member Equestrian midfield.

#11 - MF - Rapid Dash (Pegasus - Female) - 28 - Image Canterlot Royals - 181 Caps, 88 Assists, 71 Goals
Rapid Dash began her career with the national team as a striker, but shifted to the midfield when Twilight Striker began to transform the national team's formation from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2. Since then, Rapid Dash's scoring numbers have declined, but she remains a threat to opponents on the attack as the national team's all-time assists leader. The sister of team captain Fire Dash, the pegasus has been a regular for the national team since the Baptism of Fire and her abilities have kept her with the squad over the years.

#25 - MF - Ironhide (Dragon - Male) - 22 - Image Selyne City Athenians (NSI) - 22 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
Apple Jack might be the largest pony in the Equestrian midfield, but the largest player is easily Ironhide. With a kick that can rival those of top Equestrian forwards, the dragon is a nightmare for opponents to cover. Though not as large as some of his kin, Ironhide's height and weight advantage cannot be understated, helping offset the generally smaller size of most players on the Equestrian national team. Leaving relegated Everfree Forest HC last season for the Selyne City Athenians, Ironhide joined a number of Equestrians in transferring to top Sunrise League One clubs. Ironhide's impact was felt immediately in Selyne, leading the club to a league title and outscoring every player in the league. Expect this dragon to make a strong bid for a spot on the starting XI should a spot open up for him.

#31 - MF - Candace Rivers (Human - Female) - 23 - Image Umber Lumber (FWH) - 58 Caps, 5 Assists, 4 Goals
Young and talented, Candace Rivers has been making a push for a starting role ever since she first made the team. However, with the current midfielders presenting one of the most-feared midfields in international hoofball, odds are Rivers won't be making the starting XI for another few years. Until then, Candace Rivers will likely continue to act in the capacity which she has served in, as a dangerous reserve with the versatility to perform defensive and offensive tasks with ease.

#12 - MF - Lightning Bolt (Pegasus - Male) - 23 - Image Canterlot Stars - 41 Caps, 4 Assists, 3 Goals
Once hailed as the next great hoofballer from the Equestrian States, Lightning Bolt hasn't quite lived up to expectations. In the last couple years, the pegasus stallion has shown signs of improvement, offering another threat from the bench for Twilight Striker to use later in the match. His numbers might not reflect his value as an attacking midfielder, but Lightning Bolt shouldn't be taken lightly by teams struggling to contain the traditionally high-paced Equestrian attack.

#34 - MF - Stardust (Pegasus - Female) - 20 - Image Umber Lumber (FWH) - 11 Caps, 3 Assists, 3 Goals
She might be young, but she's still a threat to any team regardless of rank. Stardust excels at sprinting up the field when the opportunity presents itself and keeping her energy up late in the match. Joining Rainbow Blitz and Krystal in the Little Ponies' midfield, Stardust is a deadly on the counterattack and forces opponents to stay on their toes or watch her gallop off to the races. While overshadowed somewhat by Rainbow Blitz on the U-21 squad, Stardust has the potential to be a great player and is expected to give the more established midfielders on the senior squad a run for their money.

#32 - MF - Krystal (Unicorn - Female) - 20 - Image Canterlot Stars - 9 Caps, 3 Assists, 1 Goal
Along with Stardust and Rainbow Blitz, Krystal is the third member of the terrific trio that has sent the Equestrian States to consecutive Di Bradini Cup semifinals. Like Stardust, Krystal is quick, but the smaller unicorn is better at controlling the ball than her winged friend. Her size can put her at a disadvantage on headers, but her ability to steal the ball away from opposing midfielders nearly negates the minor disadvantage. While not the biggest name on the star-studded U-21 squad, Krystal is a talented player with just as much potential as others, and will someday be a great asset for the national team.

The following midfielder(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

#14 - MF - Apple Pie (Earth Pony - Female) - 28 - Image Avalloca Aztecs (ALL) - 113 Caps, 38 Assists, 13 Goals
A longtime player for the Equestrian national team, Apple Pie was one of the first to don the Equestrian States uniform in international competition. Like Subtle Trix, Apple Pie has made many appearances for the Ponies from the bench and once challenged Starlight Sparkle and Rapid Dash for the assists leader title. Recent years have seen the earth pony making fewer and fewer appearances for the squad, but she remains likely to be a constant on the team thanks to her considerable experience and skill at the position.

#27 - MF - Carrot Cake (Earth Pony - Female) - 32 - Image Appleoosa HC - 67 Caps, 7 Assists, 6 Goals
The oldest player to appear on the Ponies' roster this year, Carrot Cake is a veteran midfielder who has been a threat from the bench for the team ever since the Baptism of Fire. With a keen eye and a mind built for tactics, Carrot Cake excels in planning attacks and exploiting the weaknesses of opponents. While no longer the young, high-energy filly she once was, Carrot Cake can still give opponents a hard time with her hoofwork.

#15 - MF - Elaine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 21 - Image CDSA Decraa (MYT) - 9 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
The younger sister of veteran forward Katherine Everdeen, Elaine a promising star for the national team. With grace and agility, the younger Everdeen sister can race up and down the pitch at an impressive clip even in a nation of speedy equine midfielders. Though her endurance isn't nearly that of other Equestrian midfielders, Elaine Everdeen shouldn't be underestimated by her opponents. As a substitute, Elaine could be deadly to teams already exhausted by the Equestrian style of play and is expected to make at least a couple of appearances to prepare her to help defend the Equestrians' Di Bradini Cup title.

Forwards
#10 - FW - Fire Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 29 - Image Ponyville United - 192 Caps, 30 Assists, 141 Goals - CAPTAIN
Team captain since its creation and all-time leader in caps and goals, Fire Dash is the unwavering leader of the national team both on and off the pitch. He might be getting older, but Fire Dash's numbers have never really felt the need to decline. As his name suggests, the Equestrian captain is fast. Very fast. Teams looking to beat the Equestrian States will have to cover Fire Dash well to shut down the Ponies' powerful offense, a task that has become only more difficult by the inclusion of Rainbow Blitz and Thunderlane on the squad. At the club level, Fire Dash has also been impressive, joining Starlight Sparkle in leading Ponyville United to consecutive Equestrian Premier League titles and as far as the UICA Globe Cup group stage.

#7 - FW - Thunderlane (Pegasus - Male) - 25 - Image Kiiara-Torra (VIL) - 120 Caps, 18 Assists, 43 Goals
Although Thunderlane might not be the most imposing figure on the Ponies' offense, his value to the team comes primarily in his versatility. With the passing and control ability of a midfielder, and the shooting prowess of a striker, Thunderlane is a well-rounded player with some of his best years still in front of him. After five years of being the undisputed leader of Stalliongrad HC, Thunderlane made headlines across the Equestrian States by signing with V-League Stellar Division contenders Kiiara-Torra, where he expects to make a splash in his first season with the club. Opponents facing Thunderlane often overlook his abilities, focusing instead on the more obvious dangers of Fire Dash and Rainbow Blitz. It is in these matches where Thunderlane excels, and when Thunderlane excels, the Ponies are a difficult team to beat.

#30 - FW - Sonar (Bat Pony - Male) - 21 - Image Matthew City Senators (NSI) - 30 Caps, 5 Assists, 14 Goals
Young and talented, Sonar was the first bat pony to appear on the Ponies' roster and has since proven that his inclusion was no mistake by Twilight Striker. Sonar made his presence felt last year during the Ponies' successful qualifying campaign, scoring or assisting in several late goals. But where Sonar has performed best is for the U-21 squad, playing a critical role in the Little Ponies' offense both in the third place finish in DBC 26 and for the championship-winning squad last year. The bat pony has spent most of his professional career with the Matthew City Senators, which he led to second place in Sunrise League One last season.

#23 - FW - Thunderbolt (Pegasus - Female) - 23 - Image Canterlot Stars - 13 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
Thunderbolt is a part of fourth sibling pair to play for the Equestrian national team, being the sister of midfielder Lightning Bolt. While not as decorated as her twin brother, Thunderbolt's spot on the national team is relatively secure, giving the Ponies another valuable reserve on the offense. With speed almost equal to that of her aptly-named brother Lightning Bolt, Thunderbolt is more skilled in connecting the midfield to the forwards and has doubled as an attacking midfielder for the Canterlot Stars in Equestrian Premier League matches. Like Thunderlane, she is a versatile and multi-talented forward who can contribute to the Ponies' devastatingly quick counterattacks.

#29 - FW - Katherine Everdeen (Human - Female) - 27 - Image San Jose Sharks (NSI) - 23 Caps, 1 Assist, 2 Goals
The older of the two Everdeen sisters, Katherine (or Kitty as her friends and admirers call her) is very fast and very agile. She doesn't have the endurance of most equine stars, but makes up for it with her speed and accuracy in shooting. The elder Everdeen meshes excellently with her younger sister, and it's not uncommon to see the two come on at the same time as substitutes. Katherine was a recent signing for the San Jose Sharks of Sunrise League One, where she led the team in scoring and finished tied for fifth for most goals (38) behind fellow Equestrians Ironhide and Sonar.

The following forward(s) played for the Equestrian States national team during qualifying, but did not make the final 23-player squad.

#13 - FW - Blaze (Earth Pony - Male) - 24 - Image Dallint Wildcats (ALL) - 16 Caps, 3 Assists, 3 Goals
Blaze is good, no doubt about it. But the young earth pony's problem lies not with skill or experience, but with injuries. Having suffered from a number of recent injuries, Blaze has not been able to keep pace with the national team's high expectations after taking part in the 24th Di Bradini Cup and the disastrous World Cup 63 campaigns in which most Equestrian stars were unable to compete due to assorted ailments. Blaze went abroad last season looking to make a name for himself, having an immediate impact in the nearby Allinlian Soccer League and taking the ASC's Most Valuable Player award in his first season with the Wildcats.

Coaches & Staff
Head Coach - Twilight Striker (Unicorn - Female) - 44 - Image Canterlot Royals (Head Coach)
The head coach of the national team and perhaps the pony most responsible for its very existence is Twilight Striker. One of the first hoofball stars to ever capture the Equestrian public's hearts, Striker was a breathtaking forward in her day, but unfortunately was never able to wear the purple and orange as a player. But refusing to hold the endless delays of the NESC against the Equestrian people, Twilight Striker agreed to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire and has been the Ponies' leader ever since. While she might not have the same prestige as other national team coaches from other top-ranked nations, Twilight Striker is more than competent and has a brilliant mind for offensive strategy.

Assistant Coach - Mad Dash (Pegasus - Male) - 46 - Image Cloudsdale Flyers (Head Coach)
Like Twilight Striker, Mad Dash was a top player in the EHL before the national team's formation. Inducted with the top Equestrian coach into the Equestrian States Hoofball Hall of Fame's inaugural class, Mad Dash is primarily responsible for training the Ponies' midfielders and has been approached before by several national teams looking for head coaches. However, the pegasus has remained loyal to his friend Twilight Striker over the years and is well-respected by the Equestrian public.

Assistant Coach - Hat Trix (Unicorn - Male) - 48 - Image Manechester United (Head Coach)
Along with Mad Dash and Twilight Striker, Hat Trix has remained with the Equestrian national team ever since he was brought on board by the NESC to coach the team in the Baptism of Fire. While Hat Trix was a striker in his playing years, the unicorn has displayed a surprising ability to teach and hone the talents of the Equestrian defenders. Previous campaigns' struggles on defense have occasionally led to the media calling for his firing or reassignment to a more appropriate post, but the last couple of years have seen a dramatic improvement in the performance of the defenders and a corresponding decrease in the calls for Hat Trix's firing.

Goalkeeping Coach - Fire Blossom (Unicorn - Male) - 43 - Image Seaddle Sounders (Goalkeeping Coach)
Training the talented Equestrian goalkeepers is Fire Blossom, whose exploits as a keeper in the EHL earned him much respect by hoofball fans nationwide. Though Fire Blossom rarely speaks to the media for any reason whatsoever, his early statements doubting Mac Stevenson's ability to replace High Soarin' back in World Cup 61 qualifying made him look like a genius when Stevenson's selection turned out to be one of Twilight Striker's greatest blunders. Likewise, comments in support of Gentle Breeze have improved Fire Blossom's reputation as an intuitive coach able to spot which players give the Equestrians the best chance to succeed.

Scout - Diamond Star (Unicorn - Female) - 41 - Image Stalliongrad HC (Scout)
Few outside of the Equestrian States would be able to correctly identify the nation's top scout, but Diamond Star has a fairly impressive résumé, being the first to spot the potential of stars such as Thunderlane and Rainbow Blitz. Diamond Star specializes in locating and recruiting domestic talent for the Equestrian national team.

Scout - Golden Hooves (Earth Pony - Female) - 52 - Image Ponyville United (Scout)
Unlike Diamond Star, Golden Hooves' talents lie more in scouting the abilities of foreign players and how they match up against those of the Ponies. The earth pony mare is particularly well-known for her recruiting of foreign prospects for the Canterlot Stars and Ponyville United clubs.

Fitness Coach - Craig Jackson (Human - Male) - 41 - Image Stalliongrad HC (Fitness Coach)
Hired in the midst of the injury-filled disaster that was World Cup 63 qualifying, Craig Jackson was the first human member of the Ponies' staff and has done well in the last two years keeping the Equestrian States relatively injury-free. While fitness coaches generally don't get much respect or attention from the press, Jackson's gift for keeping players of so many species healthy cannot be overlooked or scoffed upon.

Team Strategy

Image

The Ponies' most-used formation is easily the slightly modified 3-5-2, preferred by Head Coach Twilight Striker because of the strength and dominance of the Equestrian midfielders. Thanks to the versatility of the Equestrian States' players, the formation gives the Ponies the ability to shift quickly from the offense to the defense and vice versa. Aside from the formation itself, the Equestrians have a number of definitive strengths and weaknesses.

First, the Ponies are among the world's fastest and most durable teams, using their advantage to tire out opponents. With those two traits as the defining characteristics of the Equestrian style of play, the squad excels at producing chances in the latter stages of the match. But while the attack dominates the second half, opposing squads have occasionally found success going all-out at the start of the match in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead.

Another area in which the Equestrian States has traditionally dominated is in the aerial battles for headers. While the Ponies are generally shorter than their opponents, the team is often credited with impressive leaping abilities (particularly among the pegasai players). Controlling headers makes the team lethal on corner kicks, and opponents looking to defeat the Equestrians must limit the number conceded to the Ponies or else face a barrage of dangerous short-range shots from the Ponies' attackers.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

Home Stadiums
Royal Equestria Stadium

Image

Location: Canterlot
Capacity: 98,625
Tenants: Equestrian States National Team

Canterlot is the capital city of the Equestrian States and one of its oldest. Located on the steep slopes of Mt. Harmony and the surrounding lands, Canterlot has evolved over time into a burgeoning metropolis that reflects the qualities the nation that houses its government in the city. The capital’s traditional sophisticated architecture has been almost seamlessly blended with the more modern styles to make it perhaps the most visually-appealing cities in the Equestrian States.

Royal Equestria Stadium is one of the newest stadiums constructed in the Equestrian States and has the largest capacity of any sports venue in the country. Built to replace the aging Equestria Dome as the official home of the national teams, the stadium speaks much of the Equestrian States through its architecture alone.

Diamond Park

Image

Location: Stalliongrad
Capacity: 75,000
Tenants: Stalliongrad HC

Excluding the cloud cities, Stalliongrad is the highest-altitude city in the Equestrian States, located on the western side of the mountains, opposite of Canterlot. Famed for the rich diamond and gold mines nearby, Stalliongrad is a wealthy city, but it has not forgotten where its economic strength comes from.

Diamond Park is one of the most stunning accomplishments of equine engineering. Built into the very sides of the mountains, a carved overhang provides shelter from the sun, and unicorn magic gives the rocky stadium protection from destructive rainfall when the Ministry of Weather Control schedules it. Diamond Park takes its name from the large hoard of gems that was discovered during the stadium's excavation and helped fund the completion of the building project. (OOC: I'm aware that the above image does not fit with the description given. Add one or two tiers and replace the overhang with one made of rock, and you've got a mental image of Diamond Park.)

Elements Stadium

Image

Location: Ponyville
Capacity: 48,750
Tenants: Ponyville United

Ponyville is among the most attractive cities in the Equestrian States, located west of the massive Everfree Forest (see the ‘Everfree’ entry in this guide for more details), and along the banks of the Mane River. A pleasant city that, like Canterlot, has incorporated the conveniences of the modern world with the traditional Equestrian city, Ponyville holds a growing role in the economy of the Equestrian States as a center of transportation between Canterlot, Everfree, Manehattan, and (to a degree) Cloudsdale. Its central location makes it an almost mandatory stop for any tourist visiting the western half of the Equestrian States mainland.

Elements Stadium is named after the Elements of Harmony, which are the guiding principles of the majority faith of the nation: Harmonism. Located near the center of the city, next to the flowing Mane River, Elements Stadium is the pleasant home to the multiple-time Equestrian Premier League champions Ponyville United. In addition to hosting the home matches of Ponyville United and several national team matches, the stadium also has hosted the UICA Globe Cup final in the past.

Wild Grounds

Image

Location: Everfree
Capacity: 56,500
Tenants: Everfree Forest HC

The city of Everfree is located in the central region of the Equestrian States, northwest of Canterlot. However, Everfree is perhaps the most bizarre city in the Equestrian States, or at least by the standards of the equine citizens of the nation. Surrounded by the dense, jungle-like, Everfree Forest, the city is home to the largest percentage of non-equine citizens of any Equestrian city due to the city’s unique nature. In the Equestrian States it is almost unheard of for an unexpected storm to spring up. This is not because the nation is dry and barren (the Equestrian States is actually rather fertile), but because of its magical occupants. Pegasai are naturally and magically blessed with the ability to move clouds and generate weather.

However, there is one region in the Equestrian States in which that is not the case. The Everfree Forest (for reasons which are still being debated among the scientific community) is not subject to the same laws of nature as the rest of the country, with clouds that move without the aid of a Pegasus. Elsewhere in the world, this would be considered normal, but in the Equestrian States it makes the Forest peculiar. In addition to the Everfree Forest’s strange weather patterns, the diverse and oftentimes deadly animal life long dissuaded any Equestrians from attempting to forge deep into the Forest. When non-equines began to move in greater numbers to the Equestrian States following its emergence from isolation, humans and other non-equine sapients found the region to be more natural, and began to form a city near the center of the massive jungle. Now, decades later, the city has grown immensely, but still is inhabited mostly by non-equines (such as humans, griffons, dragons, and others).

Wild Grounds, like Royal Equestria Stadium, was built prior to World Cup 65. Home to Everfree Forest HC and the club's raucous fanbase, the stadium replaced Manticore Park and is located on the very edges of the Everfree Forest. With a breathtaking view of the city below, Wild Grounds offers one of the best atmospheres for hoofball in the country and the city has been a regular stop for the national team ever since the Ponies began to play outside of Canterlot.

Sky-High Coliseum

Image

Location: Cloudsdale
Capacity: 45,000
Tenants: Cloudsdale Flyers, Cloudsdale Colts

Cloudsdale’s name is no accident. Located literally in the clouds, over a million pegasi call the city their home. But, without a doubt, Cloudsdale’s most defining feature is what it is made from: clouds. Although most non-Equestrians would find this to be beyond bizarre, for the Equestrian States, the ability to control and manipulate clouds is something that pegasi have been doing for thousands of years using their own unique form of magic to sculpt cities such as Cloudsdale. Due to its nature, Cloudsdale can float from one location to another, but rarely is ever more than 35 kilometers from the outskirts of Ponyville, meaning that visitors hoping to travel to Coudsdale can easily stay in Ponyville, which is less disorienting. Transportation to Cloudsdale is provided by the Equestrian Air Transport Authority via high-capacity, zeppelin-like balloons.

Like every other building in Cloudsdale, Sky-High Coliseum is sculpted from the clouds. Thanks to the malleable nature of clouds in the Equestrian States, the stadium can be expanded to seat up to 65,000 pegasai (and humans).

Pony Lands Park

Image

Location: Manechester
Capacity: 54,000
Tenants: Manechester United

Manechester is located on one of the Equestrian States' outlying islands, and is fairly standard as Equestrian cities go. Visitors to Manechester often enjoy the city's beaches, though the water can be a bit chilly in the winter.

Named after the region in which the Equestrian States is located, Pony Lands Park is a pleasant venue with bowl-like seating and all the normal concessions of any other Equestrian stadium.

Manager
Seydiya At’rod’uin (Andossa Se Mitrin Vega) (F)
Age: 341
Seydiya has proved to be more than a capable manager in her time in charge, with this Vegan having proved to be among the elite of managers. Securing an unbeaten record and a record setting performance in the Final, Seydiya brought home Valanora's record tying fifth world cup trophy in style four editions ago and has had the side performing up to expectations in the majority of her cycles in charge.

Assistant Manager
Clin Massai
Age: 10, 808
The mind behind Hondo FC's rise to power, he is another one of the assistants who plays mediator between the manager and the staff.

Keeper

Veryasirion Dart, Raynor City United
1 GK
Age - 680
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 181lbs
The back up who has finally been given a chance to show that his success at the domestic level is no fluke. Making the key saves with impressive reflexes and positioning, Dart has proven to be a solution to what had been a usual weakness for Marauder sides.

Defenders

2 Vanacauion Haelinde, Raynor City United
Age - 675
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 168 lbs
A versatile defender who is quick for his size and good with his feet. Can be an attacking threat not only on set piece situations but also deliver good through balls and crosses when he does venture forth.

3 Amonron Eleneth, AC Valanari
Age - 688
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 171 lbs
Quick for his size, Eleneth is the prototypical centerback who stymies any and every foray opposition bring into the box.

4 Thankanion Elenelwa, Mar Sara FC
Age - 624
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 180 lbs
A strong and physical presence that will put some bite into the backline alongside Titenburg.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, Yuba United (Paripana)
Age: 741
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than four countries clubs, and finally returned him when he signed with United before last season. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Aintôrthea Durosa, Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth)
Age - 750
Sex - F
Height: 5"10"
Weight: 144 lbs
Durosa is one of those players that can play just about any position, as her skill set is vast and adequate in multiple areas. She has done exceptionally well in her CMSC seasons, nabbing goals and assists with regularity and continued with her transfer to the Cafundeu league yet to be seen how the shift to Astograth will effect her game however. Her good knowledge of va Drake's typical playing patterns has made the two to be a devastating pair for the opposition to contain.

14 Laborious Hawk, Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth)
Age - 705
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even began to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day.

8 Morronuth Neltanta, Wexax United ~
Age - 736
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 164 lbs
A strong and physical player who uses his body well when shielding off opposing players off the ball. Lacks the pace of some of the squad but is great at keeping possession and finding an outlet pass.

28 Faeron Soldarian, Raynor City United
Age - 619
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 494
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco has proved once again that he is suited for any role that his managers wish to give him, easily adjusting to Hearts style of play and learning his preferred moves. A great shot and football IQ make him a very dangerous attacker for the Marauders.

10 Tûrin Aerataur, Hondo FC ~
Age - 770
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 156 lbs
Long has he been Hearts strike partner at Hondo, now that he has replaced the legendary striker on the national team and he has made use of his dynamic shot to keep the sting of the Vanorian attack strong, if not stronger than it ever has been before.

Fristat and Marianopolis National Team.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Modifier: +2

Manager: Anton Flamand - Age 48.
Flamand is a regular factory manager by day, but by night he manages the top footballers in all of Fristat and Marianopolis. His sharp tongue and slavedriver style work wonders with this lot - he makes sure they do double sessions every single day in order to achieve prime fitness for tough schedules in international football. He is of Cotdelapomais descent too, so doesn't mind a few creative players in the side - although he does favour the largely Mytanar trait of having a tall centre forward as the focal point of attacking moves too. This team will try and combine the tough tackling, physical side of Mytanar football with the Cotdelapomais creativity and fluidity on the ball - whether they are successful or not largely depends on the quality of player that decided to cross the Modraine Sea when moving away from both the Mytanar dictatorship and northeasterly from Cotdelapoms in search of a slightly different lifestyle. This will show us how successful this was for them people.

Starting XI.

GK: Kevin Ehrlichmann - 22 - Reutlingen University.
One of the amateur players, plying his trade for the University. The only academic institute in the National League, they are an impressive team, largely made-up of current students and alumni of the institute. They have a policy of not paying fees for any players, although they are allowed to receive fees for their players of course. Ehrlichmann is one player who may well move on after this season - with Dinamo Esca in Mytannion being a team linked with the young goalkeeper - Ehrlichmann is a big physical presence and occupies his penalty area well, he has good reflexes too and deals with shots well. Will he be able to deal with the opposition here?

DL: Raoul Chicoine - 26 - Athlétic Marianopolis.
Chicoine is a creative fullback who creates chances going forward on the overlap as well as being relatively solid defensively. He is definitely a more attacking option than could be used, with him adding more when going forward than what he brings to the team when he sits back in defence. He is a fairly good tackler, but other than that it is blatantly obvious that he used to play as a winger earlier in his career. His mazy runs and flowing dreadlocks hark back to that.

DC: Max Egger - 37 - Mytanische von Ost Union.
An experienced centre back that used to play in the Mytanar lower leagues, having played for teams such as Partizan, Torstig Alelatriv and Traktar Thessia in his long, journeyman career that has taken in seven different teams. He has finally settled at MvO Union. He is a no-nonsense defender that deals with problems efficiently, he is tall and good in the air but does lack a yard of pace which means he can't always keep up with the quickest forwards.

DC: Serhiy Volodin - 32 - Irtysh Omsk.
Possibly the only decent player that plies his trade for Irtysh Omsk. The club from the small town of Omsk are probably the worst in the National League, they're truly awful. Volodin is also lacking in the speed department but he is a tough defender, he is well known for inflicting injuries on the opposition in the past and is a known hardman. He is rumoured to be a member of the Mytanar Mafiya family operating out of Fristat - which would surprise nobody, frankly.

DR: Hugues Lamontagne - 20 - Solovetsky Monastery (Polar Islandstates).
Lamontagne is one of the few big talents in this side. He could easily go on to play competitively in one of the bigger leagues in the world and would cope fairly well. He is an all-round fullback, defensively solid and able to deal with threats whilst also adding something when going forward. His dead-ball ability is not to be sniffed at either and he is well known for curling free kicks in in the domestic league, often in front of crowds of a several hundred, but hey, that's the charm of a small nation's football league, isn't it? Stade Printanière made a killing by selling the youngster to Solovetsky Monastery for £3 million, money they will reinvest well. He will hope to establish himself in one of the top leagues in the world.

DMC: Klaus Muench - 34 - Rot-Weiss Essen.
Another tough player. Muench is a battling midfielder, his bullish physique and vicious style often causing players to be intimidated when playing against him. He's played for RW Essen for ten years, since they were founded and has brought his hard-hitting style to every game he has taken part in since then. He's being used to break-up the play and move the ball on to the more creative players in the national side.

DMC: Nouel Leduc - 23 - North Star Grimsey (Polar Islandstates).
Leduc is the more creative of the defensive midfield pairing. His passing ability is excellent, he moves the ball around the field well with his range being anywhere from short to crossfield and this allows him to be the one to launch quick counter attacks which move the ball forward quickly and force the opposition onto the back foot. He's not as good defensively, but it is hoped Muench makes up for his ability there. He is also not the quickest player and he relies on his anticipation and close control to make sure he keeps the ball away from the other team. He has been rewarded with a move to North Star Grimsey in Polar Islandstates because of his good form both with the national team and old club Club Francophone de Football Union.

AML: Lavrenti Sjolund - 29 - Mytanische von Ost Union.
Sjolund is another that is skilled from dead ball situations and allows the team to play the way they do. He is pacy and has good close control and can deliver delightful crosses. This makes up for his relatively poor ability when it comes to a solo end product and also his absolute refusal to track back. He is useful however, because once Leduc picks the ball up in midfield he can launch passes across the pitch for Sjolund to latch onto and then hopefully deliver a cross for Kunze to do something with.

AMC: Johan Berthelsen - 18 - Rot-Weiss Essen.
Berthelsen is a top-class playmaker, whilst also being a good marksman at the same time. He has the ability to time a pass which is perhaps unrivalled in this country, he sometimes moves forward into line with Kunze and then drops deeper to confuse the opposition and to also involve himself more with the play in midfield. Berthelsen is being touted for a move across the Modraine Sea to Mytannion and it would surprise nobody if he made the move soon enough. His dribbling, passing and finishing ability are superb and would completely justify this.

AMR: Jérôme Lemieux - 27 - RC Iris.
Lemieux is a classic winger, he's creative and can deliver the ammunition for the better marksman in the side whilst being able to occasionally pop up with a goal of his own every so often. Lemieux had played professionally in Cotdelapoms for some years, he had had a youth contract with Worcester Hearts but failed there and had to move to Celtic before then coming to Fristat and Marianopolis to ply his trade down the flank instead.

ST: Uwe Kunze - 28 - Rot-Weiss Essen. Captain.
A goalscorer, is basically what Kunze is. He's a big physical forward, standing at 6'5 and he's excellent in the air as well as using his physical presence in order to create chances to score with his feet too. He's also the team's inspiration and has been given the armband to lead them in the Baptism of Fire - he'll be an important cog in this team and unless he regularly converts, they could have issues with being as successful as they want to be in the BoF and also may not be as successful in the World Cup qualifying campaign - where they wish to secure a mid-group position rather than flopping as most teams do.

Substitutes.

DL: Jan Kaiser - 23 - AS Fréderic
DC: Inunnguaq Frederiksen - 18 - Mytanische von Ost Union

There is also a third kit, which is mostly gold, if neither of these is suitable.

My RP Permissions are pretty chill to be honest.
Pretty much anything goes, I only ask that you let me decide the severity of any injuries you decide to RP for me, please.
Send my players off if you must -- if its a player I really didn't wanna lose for the next game, I'll RP an appeal or something.
Oh and at the risk of sounding a bit "RAWR" ... do not kill any of my players or coaching staff (unless I say go ahead via TG).
Killing fans is okay though. Go nuts with that if you like.

Most likely to...
Score a goal: Kristen Rees or Ezio Grassi
Win a free kick: Kristen Rees
Take (and score) that free kick: Sergio Estevez
Win a penalty: Ezio Grassi
Take (and score) that penalty: Connor McCarthy
Miss a penalty: Alex McIntosh
Score a header off a set piece: Mario Donati
Score an own goal: Mario Donati
Hack an opponent down: Tomas Urena or Connor McCarthy
Lose their head and get sent off: George Spencer
Commit a professional foul: Tomas Urena
Argue with the referee: Connor McCarthy
"Disappear" during a match: Ramira Salas
"Put in a shift": Sergio Estevez or Azarai Robinson
Have an elaborate goal celebration planned out: nobody, the gaffer doesn't approve
Get caught stumbling out of a nightclub: any fringe player, the others have too much to lose
Do charity work: Kristen Rees
Elicit marriage proposals from fans: Brooklyn McGregor or Marco Soranno

Firstly, the NSWiki page is not complete, but still worth a look...

It's important to note that the team itself generally doesn't consciously defend. They press high up the pitch though and try to win the ball back as quickly as possible.

They will slow down when ahead later in the game, but only so they don't unnecessarily provide opportunities to lose possession and/or concede. This doesn't mean they wont take the opportunity to score if it presents itself, though...

Set piece preferences (in order):
Corner kick takers: Whichever wingers/wide forwards are on the pitch
Penalty takers: Connor McCarthy or Brooklyn McGregor
Free kick takers: Sergio Estevez or Ezio Grassi
Long free kicks: Mario Donati, or the goalkeeper (for offsides, really)

You don't have to stick to that, though. It just fits in better with the way I intend to RP my team (when I can).

If there is an attacking midfielder on the pitch, they will likely operate as a "false ten" in tandem with a forward dropping deep. Effectively they will be most likely to get onto the end of passes in the final third, and thus score goals. Sahota tends to deploy Giovanna Rossetti in that role if he assigns anyone to it at all (usually he won't), because she is the most prolific of his options, likely due to her playing a similar role at club level.

Something that is important to know is that football isnt the number on sport in Osarius. Its second, to GraviBall.
Footballers are loved if they make tough tackles -- case in point, Connor McCarthy; and before him, Georgina Carsley -- because the combative nature of the game is what the fans like. Very passionate, are Osarian fans, you see.
Sooo... basically, if you're not scoring goals or making crunching tackles, the fans aren't impressed. That goes for opponents too... Osarian fans always appreciate a good tackle, so they will even applaud opposition players at times (although they will boo their goals, obvs).

From time to time I'll make reference to the area a player is from, and when I do, I will try to add an OOC note to explain what it means, because different regions of Osarius have almost entirely different cultures. For example, Tubrissian people's habits and sayings are heavily based on Phoenician/Carthaginian culture and religious beliefs.

Manager: Amandeep Sahota
The OFA desperately didn't want to see Sahota leave his post following the unbelievable progress made during the last World Cup, and the new OFA chairman, Alain Montblanc, managed to persuade him to remain for just one more cycle to assist the transition to the new staff. Sahota's magnetic personality and excellent man-management skills will undoubtedly make things go smoother, though it is uncertain how much of the team's success at World Cup 64 can be repeated. At the very least, Sahota hoped to have dismissed the notion that his teams were "bottlers", but an extra time defeat to Audioslavia in the semi-finals didn't help with that. One thing nobody can take away from him, though, is his stellar reputation for team-building. It is this key trait that sets him apart from the majority of his peers, and makes him the best man to lay a foundation for the national team to build on for years to come.

Assistant Manager: Ishmael Walker
Walker's reputation as a coach is well-and-truly repaired now, though he has effectively ruled himself out of the Osarius manager's job, after stating his desire to "stay within the setup and support whoever comes in as the new boss". It is a poorly-kept secret that Amandeep Sahota will definitely be stepping down after this cycle, but with Walker previously the favourite to take up the mantle, the OFA may have a problem now. The former under-21 coach still handles the majority of the team's training sessions, and works closely with Osarius' academy director at Mount Crown -- thus having a big hand in the development of many of the emerging young players in the current squad -- but seems to have "found his level" as an assistant.

Coaches: Jermain Lewis, Georgina Carsley, Lorenzo Ruiz
As part of the big shake-up in the OFA, three former internationals have been brought in to replace the far-too-old outbound trio of Cole, Allen and Simmons. Jermain Lewis, as a former Osarius captain and something of an idol to many of the current squad, will be expected to maintain their drive as they face immense pressure as the #3 ranked side in the world. Carsley's no-nonsense, ultra-pragmatic style of play has carried over superbly to her coaching, as any of the youngsters in the Turic academy will attest to. Her pragmatism is expected to be balanced nicely by Lorenzo Ruiz, whose cultured left foot and excellent vision should help the squad take that final step.

Specialist Coaches: Lana Schroeder (goalkeeping), Claudio Traga (fitness)
Traga has a reputation for using unorthodox methods to get good results, while Schroeder has a massive point to prove within Osarius. Traga's fitness regimes are constantly evolving, and it seems that at any given time, 50% of all gym-goers or fitspos in Osarius are on one of his training programs. His research into the phenomenon which effectively halted aging in Osarius recently has sparked a new method which incorporates "mental fitness training", as he calls it. The idea being that not only will his training increase physical fitness, but also maximise the ability of the team to remain focused for longer periods of time. Schroeder has big boots to fill (literally) in taking over from Oduoza, who retired following Osarius' third place finish in World Cup 64. She has extensive knowledge of the goalkeeper position, however, having played the role for the entirety of her twenty-five year professional career and coached it for the past fifteen.

Medical Staff: Dr. Clara Cormega (physiotherapist), Dr. Vite Karusiki (team doctor)
Daniel Chambers' decision to retire last summer was the final indicator required to prove beyond doubt that Clara Cormega was ready to take on his role. Born in Aquillian and the wife of a high profile club manager, there has long been suspicion that the fans would not take too kindly to her. The players have no such problem, however. Particularly after she has spent the better part of the past decade learning from her predecessor and completing her PhD last autumn. Dr Bocchetti took much more convincing to step aside, as she insisted on vetting every candidate to replace her. Dr. Karusiki's openness to new ideas, moderate experience level, and strong familiarity with athletic injuries and related topics weren't enough for Dr. Bocchetti. She was sold primarily on his latest research paper -- basically a closer look at the physiological effects of mental stress in elite athletes, something she had looked into previously herself -- and the university with which it was conducted; Utica University.

Sündstedrisjh Natjone̊sfotbolmansjibr – Sondsteadish National Football Team

Following a respectable debut in the 52nd Baptism of Fire (albeit one that fizzled somewhat towards the end; still, fourth place is definitely respectable) Sondstead is gearing up for the World Cup qualifiers a little rested, although their energy still isn't what it was in the first few matches of the BoF. Given how fizzled a bit there, the longer and more competitive World Cup campaign is a cause for worry among fans. For the team, being matched against some high-ranked opponents induces some anxiety, but having to go to Saintland of all bloody places does too. On the other hand, one can only imagine what the Saintland players and fans would think of cosmopolitan, beer-loving, and sexually liberated Windstrand City once they get there.

Three factors have led the team's seasoned manager, Tomas Rum, to shake up the team's lineup a bit in the middle of the BoF/World Cup campaign; A mid-tournament change in strategy means Sondstead is now often playing the first half of the game with in a 4-3-3 formation, making more substitute strikers necessary. Two players were knocked out of the campaign during the BoF as well; E̊sbjus Hwitrländer for a bad ankle sprain and Szelim Nagy for some unwise gestures on the field and some similarly unwise choices of words on social media afterwards.

The third factor is perhaps a little more complicated; it was not common knowledge in Sondstead beforehand, but top flight international football is not gender segregated. While Sondstead is generally quite egalitarian, the custom in the country as well as in most other Maredoratic countries (Rochehaut being the one exception) top level sports remain gender segregated, and the country has in the past fielded both men's and women's teams. Following the BoF, however, the Fotbolforbind came under some pressure from women's groups to allow female players onto the World Cup squad. With the team requiring additional players anyway, it was decided at least one female player would be added to the roster as a substitute on a trial basis, drawing from the most skilled percentile of Kwenens FF-Ligä players.

Stadiums

Telesünd Eästerkjirkjh Stadium (Eästerkjirkjh krets, Windstrand City, Windstrand State; capacity 67,550)
Located in a southeastern district of Sondstead's largest city, this is the largest stadium in the country, the home of FK Windstrand Stedr (the top club in the country), and the primary home of the national team. If anything is the country's national stadium, this is it, and accordingly six out of the nine home games for Sondstead have been scheduled here, including the second to last qualifier matchday against Jedi8246 on July 6th, which is Constitution Day, Sondstead's national holiday.

Windstrand is a cosmopolitan, busy city and a major centre of business and culture on the continent of Alisna in Maredoratica. Socially liberal and tolerant, it is largely a middle-class, white collar city. Large, diverse, and wealthy, it offers a very wide range of cultural opportunities. For visitors looking to get a taste of the local culture, it is suggested that they keep a lookout for the local pubs or for the traditional street corner food carts, which usually serve up the krengjl (Sondsteadish version of the pretzel, which can be either sweet or savoury) and worst (sausages; in particular, try päprigäwörst, a spicy national favourite made with paprika).

International entry to the city is via Nörditser Windstrand International Airport, 45 kilometres from the city centre, with frequent commuter trains between the airport and Windstrand North Station. From North Station to reach Eästerkjirkjh however requires switching trains, either by taking the tram from the station to the stadium to the Eästerkjirkjh stop or transferring on the tram to the Dutkjh-Kwärtier or Kanonje̊rsstre̊t stops to pick up the commuter train to Eästerkjirkjh on the GHMK Line.

The stadium is sponsored by Telesünd, the main Sondsteadish telecom utility and owner of Sondsteadish and international mobile phone network TSMi. If required by the World Cup regulators, the sponsored name can be temporarily removed.

Loft Sündstedr Bänkjstedr Stadium (Bankstead, Cheruskerland State; capacity 37,950)
Located near the centre of Bankstead on the banks of the Esker River, this 38,000 seat stadium is the home of FK Midesker, one of the top clubs in northern Sondstead. Sondstead's second, fifth, and sixth home matches (on the fifth, tenth, and elevent match days overall) will be held here. Bankstead is a cold industrial city in the inland of central Sondstead in the valley of the Esker River. While since the 1970s it has acquired a reputation as a dirty, poor city, it has made a substantial turnaround in recent years, and has established itself as the main centre of business administration and finance in the region. It is also noted for it's cluster of skyscrapers, unique in Sondstead.

Bankstead is a diverse city with a large immigrant population; in fact, ethnic Sondsteaders make up less of the population by percentage than they do in Windstrand. Entrance to the city is through Midesker Regional Airport (which is, in fact, a major international airport, despite the name), but if you do not plan to charter your flights, scheduled flights are not as easy to come by as to Windstrand. However, frequent and direct flights are available to the airport from Windstrand and other regional hubs. The airport is is located 44 kilometres southwest of Bankstead as the crow flies and commuter rail service is provided, but the rail route and the main roads follow a more circuitous path due to the local topography, so in reality the trip will be rather longer.

The stadium is sponsored by Loft Sündstedr, the largest Sondsteadish airline. If required by the World Cup regulators, the sponsored name can be temporarily removed.

Maredoratica – A Realistic Modern Tech Roleplaying Region

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 65 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break between WCs 7 and 25, the Holy Empire is proud to be one of only two active nations to have participated in WC1.

There's a crisis in Atlantian Oceania, Rushmore and Esportiva!*

*If you'd like to include your region, drop me a TG.

"It's like this, Juan and Simeone.... If we can't reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, Rushmore, Esportiva, and Atlantian Oceania will collapse into three-dimensional space, forcing them to temporarily share a geographically coterminous space within the same ordinary sphere."

"But that will kill millions!"

"Not necessarily.... if we can initiate a dimensional shift in the space-time continuum of the relevant parts of the sphere, then we can vibrate Rushmore and Esportiva out of phase with each other and Atlantian Oceania."

"Spare us the technobabble, physiotherapist... what does that mean?"

"It means I can, at least for a while, stop the three regions' actual space-time coordinates from matching even though they're sharing that ordinary three-dimensional sphere, so it'll seem to most of the residents as if nothing's wrong and the ordinary flexible mobial spatial relationship between the two's been maintained; only the higher technology or supernatural nations will likely notice anything's happened - though it might be possible for individuals or objects to accidentally shift immediately from one region to another if they hit the right vibrational modulation."

"How long can you hold them apart?"

"Oh, for the duration of the World Cup, I'd imagine - long enough for us to find out who's responsible....."

OOC - Summed up, you'll only notice this crisis in RP if you want your nation to notice this crisis. If you want to ignore it completely, you're very free to do so.

And the squad helping Juan, Simeone, and The Physiotherapist to deal with the crisis?

OOC - the below squad presumes to some extent that you're familiar with Doctor Who (for example, that Slaxyr is an Ice Warrior); not knowing this shouldn't impede your ability to RP with the squad, though you may miss some subtexts.

GK:
A Kaled Mk III Travel Machine; designed by patriotic Kaled scientist Davros to allow tragically mutated survivors of the Kaled-Thal war to regain mobility, this particular 'dalek' (as the travel machines have been nicknamed) will seek to exterminate all opposition scoring opportunities.

DEF:
Slaxyr; Reptilian martian humanoid who always plays in his cybernetic reptilian armour; hard to beat for strength, but not necessarily agile, and hates hot weather. Has a strong sense of honour, and will never commit a professional foul.

The Monitor: Supreme logician whose every calculation either anticipates the opposition's next attack or delays the impending heat death of several universes; sometimes both.

Mondas Humanoid Cyborg; looks clunky, metallic, and slow, but his devotion to constantly upgrading his footballing skills makes him a formidable opponent for any opposing forward.

MID:
"John the Right Winger"; appears to be a normal human, but this may not be his natural form. Is electric on the right wing, but seems to detest the squad's left wing player, to the point of open warfare.

Octhar; another reptilian humanoid, but Homo reptilia as opposed to the Martian defender Slaxyr. Highly intelligent, with an almost telepathic ability to anticipate an opposing player's next move. 'Third eye' also allows him to see in infrared, so particularly good at night.

Brotar; an amphibious metamorphic humanoid who takes human form on most occasions, and is heard to occasionally mutter about how "that Skarasen was always a bad idea".

Susan Foreman; young but adventurous midfielder who seems to have a particular affinity with the team's physiotherapist.

Cmdr. Storix; the "Maradona of the Sontar Empire", this speedy left-wing playmaker's low centre of gravity makes him a wizard of the dribble. Hates the right-winger, whom he refers to as "that Rutan scum".

FOR:
Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (CAP); this military man of action is a natural leader (though perhaps slightly on the pompous side), and will seek to lead this particular unit to victory whenever possible.

Michael "Mike" Alexander Raymond Yates; a long-standing assistant of Lethbridge-Stewart who cares deeply about environmental issues.

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces.

The assistant coach is Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini.

The Holy Empire always registers the coaches as players, just in case.

Physiotherapist
He's a doctor; as far as the squad are concerned, he's the doctor.

Kit
The squad will wear the famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1 (home left, change/away right)

Image

Ground
Home matches take place in the jewel-encrusted and gold and platinum-domed Imperial Hippodrome.

Style Modifiers / formation
Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

OOC'ly, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.

RP instructions:
Except as described below, knock yourselves out - creative RP is encouraged.

Please remember that the basic rules for travel to the Archregimancy [see below] also apply to the Holy Empire - you'll need someone to build a portal for you, you can't just fly/walk/drive there. If you want to deal with the malleable reality and non-linear time elements of the Dreamed Realm, and have no prior experience of these, it's probably best to check with me first.

Only I can decide if and when I might choose to field the coaches as players; please don't do this unilaterally.

The Archregimancy WC65 Roster

First of all, everyone except newbies knows that the Archregimancy is a nation of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks from an alternate reality, right?

The Archregimancy's Monastic Football Association were initially as surprised as anyone when their World Cup 62 & 63 squads of otherworldly ascetic monks each characterised by behaviour which even your average Archregimancy monk might consider a little eccentric* not only qualified for the World Cup twice in a row, but surged into the top 10 of the World Cup rankings. The MFA thought they hadn't a hope of winning anything; instead, they've apparently found themselves with the best national side they've had for many a cup - and now realise that their manager isn't all he appeared to be. While they've slipped slightly in the rankings after World Cup 64, the MFA have decided to give this unusually successful Archregimancy side one more chance in WC65.

This newspaper story from WC63 may help explain both the MFA's recent change of heart about the desirability of footballing victory, and the shocking discovery about the manager's background:

The Archregimancy wrote:THE MONASTIC TIMES

MONKS WIN!
Holy Synod Courts Controversy by Celebrating World Cup Success

By Fr. Nicholas the Scribe

Controversy embroiled monastic sports last night as the Holy Synod announced an extraordinary U-turn in sporting policy by announcing that they had "accepted God's will" and were encouraging all Orthodox sporting fans - whether monastics or laity - to celebrate the Archregimancy's unexpected topping of their first round group.

"The ways of the Lord are never unjust, though they are sometimes hard to understand" said a senior archimandrite (speaking on condition of anonymity) said to be close to Metropolitan Mark, Protos of the Holy Synod.

The final catalyst for this unexpected change in attitude seems to have been the Archregimancy's extraordinary 2-0 victory over hosts Aguazul, which neutral observers have reported was "fully deserved" by a "well-drilled, tactically astute team intent on playing a seductive passing game."

The upset caused by the use of the word 'seductive' in application to anything relating to the Monastic Republic has tended to obscure the fact that local media reports have corroborated this analysis, speaking of 'controlled dribbles', 'clean, accurate passing', and an 'honored but relaxed' attitude.

This reporter has learned of the key role played in this transformation by Fr. Basil the Fool for Christ, who - as I can now exclusively reveal - was, prior to becoming a monastic, Jorge Vatatzes, a leading Imperial League manager well known for his unusual tactical approach, his novel faecal motivational techniques and a noted ability to transform struggling relegation-bound teams into championship contenders over just two or three seasons.

"In truth we had no idea" said a Monastic Football Association official (anonymously). "If we thought he was going to take the job seriously, we never would have appointed him; all this time we were trying to ignore the team in the vague hope they would go away in a suitable metaphor for monastic humility, and he was turning them into world beaters while no one was paying attention". The official refused to comment if the team's record should instead be seen as a metaphor for the Triumph of Orthodoxy, simply noting that "there's a lot of football to played yet" and that "Valladares are no mugs".

Under the circumstances, it's no surprise that the Archregimancy are fielding an unchanged side for the fourth cup in a row (time passes differently in the Dreamed Realm); though this is definitely this squad's last appearance.

Goal:
Fr. Ephraim the Grazer: When not playing football, Fr Ephraim goes down on all fours, and lives by grazing on grass among the beasts of the field.

Defence:
Fr. Mark the Hairy: Has never once cut his hair, which grows all over his body; he appears to many as one of the wild beasts of the mountains where his hermitage is located.
Fr. Symeon the Enchained: Carries heavy chains of iron all over his body to remind himself of the weight of his sins.
Fr. Evagrius the Imprisoned: Has (very) reluctantly left the cage in which he locked himself 20 subjective years ago; it's so small that he can neither stand up straight nor straighten his arms; he'll lock himself back in after every match.
Fr. Abramios the Recluse: Is so concerned about leaving his isolated desert hermitage that he will wear a sack over his head so as to avoid others recognising him.

Midfield:
Fr. Eusebius the Rigorous: Lives in a small enclosure he built himself under a fig tree; during Great Lent, will usually restrict himself to eating but 15 figs.
Fr. Hilarion the Naked: Has, somewhat reluctantly, consented to wear a loincloth when playing away from home, or at home against teams that feature women.
Fr. Artemius the Unwashed [Cap]: None of the members of the squad are close intimates of soap and water, but Fr. Artemius' ascetic devotion is such that he's never once washed or been washed since the day he was born.
Fr. Mark the Goatskin Wearer: Wears only the skins of animals who die of natural causes near his remote hermitage; which may not sound remarkable, except he doesn't remove the heads.

Forwards:
Fr. Gerasimus the New Ascetic: Not just a grazer, but also lives a life of total silence.
Fr. Theophilus the Wise: Star forward for perennial Monastic League strugglers Hermits United; believed to be on the squad due to a clerical error.

Manager/coach:
Fr. Basil the Fool for Christ: Feigns (apparently) madness so as to expose the folly of the world; typically goes naked (though, like Fr. Hilarion, will wear a loincloth under certain conditions), always wears chains around his neck, and occasionally throws his own faeces at sinners. This may include his own squad, the opposition, and the watching crowd. But don't forget that he also has a past as a highly successful secular manager who was known for "his unusual tactical approach, his novel faecal motivational techniques and a noted ability to transform struggling relegation-bound teams into championship contenders over just two or three seasons".

*OOC - these are nonetheless wholly based on actually recorded late Classical / medieval examples of ascetic monasticism. Naked grazers ('boskoi') were recorded on isolated areas of Mount Athos as recently as 1960. Saint Basil the Fool for Christ is a historical figure - though he was never a football manager

Formation:
The Archregimancy always plays an orthodox 4-4-2; style modifier +0.

Kit:

See Fr. Seraphim the Occasionally Dangerously Free Thinking Theologian model the Archregimancy's monastic robes!

Image

Note that Fr. Hilarion will, however, never wear more than a loincloth unless required to do so by local laws when playing away from home. Fr. Mark the Goastskin Wearer has been prevailed upon to die his goatskins black so as to minimise confusion - though not to remove the heads.

Team Icon

The team is always accompanied to matches by the Holy Icon of the Mother of God, Bringer of Victory, which is paraded before the team before the match. The Holy Icon looks like:

Tips for footballing visitors to the Archregimancy:

1) Each home match is preceded by the complete Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Rest assured that this should only require visiting teams, fans, and officials to stand for a mere 2 hours before kickoff. Consider yourselves lucky we don't use the Liturgy of St. Basil.

2) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Archregimancy home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated. Any such behaviour will find those responsible immediately transported back to ordinary physical reality.

3) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Archregimancy, a team of monks shall arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Archregimancy at your leisure.

4) Visiting support is limited to a maximum of 1000 fans.

5) Women are not usually permitted into the Archregimancy. Exceptions will be made for visiting players and properly accredited officials - largely because we have to.

6) Formerly, the Archregimancy made a point of being resentful of being forced to permit atheists, communists, freemasons, assorted heretics and foul excelites into the Archregimancy for home qualifiers. These days the Monastic Football Association tries a little harder to welcome all of the above – though largely in the hope that they might just possibly be open to conversion through a slightly more conciliatory approach.

HOME GROUND

In recognition of the changed status of the national football team, this cup the Archregimancy will be playing its home matches in one of the most glamorous (if that's quite the right word) monasteries in the entire Monastic Republic: Troitse-Sergiyeva.

OOC: I realise my team might present a role-playing challenge. Rest assured that once they start playing they'll play just like any other team (though they might be a bit more inclined to pray after scoring), so I have no problem with you treating the team like any other if you don't want to deal with the Orthodox Christian element.

Top Seed Better Mean Qualification

Last time the key thing for the Warriors was that the expectations had changed. Instead of being a team that could make the cup, Milchama expected that they should make the cup, a big difference. This time though everything had changed. Well really nothing has changed, Milchama should still make the cup, but instead of being a second seeded team the Warriors are now top seeds in their group. That's right for the first time since World Cup 40 something or other the Milchama Warriors are the top seed in the group. Of course that's awesome, it's good to see that Milchama has really come all the way back from their malaise in the 50s. However, now can they get up to the expectations and qualify easily for the World Cup? Well I have no idea.

Anyway, here's the roster as managed again by Kenny Rintell:

In the traditional 3-3-4 formation (+1)
GK: Hench Valentine
D: Freddy Jents
D: Itai Sashkosh
D: Omri March
M: Kev Verner
M: Werholt Newmanblatt
M: Carey Hemmings
F: Kyle Querk
F: Valerie Meloy
F: Manny Jackson
F:Cochava Cohen

Subs:
GK:Fletcher Kemp
D: Boris Em
D: Goran Voran
M: Rory Dell
M: Ely Openawan
F: Meni Liam
F: Torhalt Smashness

HOME STADIUM FOR WORLD CUP 65 QUALIFIERS
ImageImageImage

Allianz Arena , New Portland, Munchen - 71,137

TEAM OVERVIEW
One cycle past and it's the World Cup 65 Qualifiers, last time round the Lions managed to enter the World Cup 64 proper, finishing on top of their qualifying outweighing the heavy favourites to qualify automatically Gyatso-kai. Soon it all seems to be renewing the rivalry between the two nations. In the World Cup tournament, the Lions failed to win a single match in the tournament and soon went crushing out after finishing last in their first attempt in the tournament itself after going through the qualifiers for eight times. This would long stand to be the Lions' best record in the World Cup cycle, both in the Qualifiers and the actual tournament itself. In the Lions ninth cycle, they are more or less aiming to better their record in the World Cup and must of course go through the Qualifiers and look to better their previous record in the previous cycle and the pressure is now on Kristin Janette, the outgoing manager of the Mapletish national team. Having produced a better performances than her predecessors, she's expected to better her record this time round in her fourth cycle in charge of the Lions.

Manager: Kristin Janette, 28
Janette one of the many talented faces in the management role won the hearts of the Maplish crowd through her performance in the 53rd Cup of Harmony bringing to the crowd their best record in the Cup Of Harmony tournament, a knockout round appearance before being knocked out before leading the Lions out to the World Cup 63 qualifying cycle. Despite the team's best efforts, they failed to qualify for the World Cup after loosing in the playoffs, one of the better performances for the team for quite some time after appearing in the playoffs only once before then. The Cup of Harmony 54 gave Janette a second chance to redeem herself but her team got knockout in the Montreal's quarter finals, bringing their World Cup 63 cycle to an end but by then, Janette has already became the most successful manager in the team's international history surpassing Patterson Dellars, the man that brought the Lions to a Baptism of Fire bronze medal. Adding to her record, she's also the best performing manager in the Copa Rushmori for the Lions, a quarter finals appearance for the Cop Rushmori XIII and a fourth place finish in a second appearance in the Copa Rushmori XIV after succeeding Elton Parker, then temporary manager for the Copa Rushmori XII. In what could be her last cycle before her contract expires, Janette would have one last shot on helping the Lions qualify for the World Cup, the second time proper in the Lions' ninth appearance.

Assistant Manager: Orinda Rosaline, 27
Rosaline the childhood friend of Janette and her assistant coach ever since the latter started her coaching career. Taking the coaching courses together, both of them graduated with the Mapletish FA "A" license in football management which allowed them to coach Premier League teams, the top tier league in the Mapletish Football Pyramid and the national team. Strict with her players all the time, training was a mixture of discipline and fun under her as she makes sure that every player reap the benefits of the training session while they enjoy themselves as much as they can through game time. Motivation has always been key to Rosaline for her players and her training sessions are always filled with a positive atmosphere where players are always encourage to do their best.

First-Team Coach: Isabel Calixta, 28
Goalkeeper Coach: Angelina Tina , 22
Physio: Asunción Irisa, 29
Team Doctor: Fionola Morna, 30

The Buio'Dzz
Before every match, the team members (including the designated substitutes for the match) will perform a traditional ritual, called the Buio'Dzz on the pitch just before play begins. This is one of the many tribe war dance from the aboriginals of Mapletish, meant to awe their opponents, this is similar to the [RL] New Zealanders' haka before their matches. This would be performed unless the hosts of the match in question object to the ritual. The Buio'Dzz is also performed by the Rugby teams before their match, it is also done by the field hockey team before their match.

Starting XI

[ 1 ] - GK - Sapphire Avalon - Age 24- New Portland Rovers
The first choice keeper of New Portland Rovers, she was handed her chance to play in the World Cup 62 qualification campaign, with the introduction of female players into the squad to put in some "feminine energy" with more careful passes instead of risky passes that often went out of play and losing procession. Sapphire proved to be firm on her feet in front of goal as a gymnastic enthusiast as she put in highly acrobatic saves and reliable on goal. Sapphire has proven to be a reliable shot-stopper on the international stage proving to be a solid player in the squad wearing the number one shirt for the Lions.

[ 2 ] - DR - Florence Vivian - Age 21 - Struggait United
Often seen bombing down the right wing in support of the forwards or being the extra man in front to relieve the pressure off the shoulders of the midfielders whether is it in her club or for her nation. Her speed has been unmatched by other players in the Women's Premier League and her presence in the Mapletish's defensive wing would prove important in the absence of the many right wing defenders upon the selection rounds.

[ 3 ] -DC - Alessendra Vito - Age 28 - Balmope Betis
The heart of the defence for club and country, after failing to impress the national managers throughout his playing career, he was selected for the World Cup 65 qualifiers now under Janette. A leading player for his club, his excellent marking ability and defending ability impressed Janette while on a visit to Balmope Betis proved his worth to be in the national team, aggressiveness seem to be on his books and he won't let a forward go past him that easily.

[ 4 ] - DC - Jaimie Lim - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
The thought of a female player in the defences with only a few years in professional football and almost zero experience in playing against men, that was the idea of what Jaimie gave the fans when she was first call up to the squad for the World Cup 62 qualification. Fast, agile and a good vision in her playing style. Despite not being the John Davis kind of player where tackling and speed are key to his game, Jaimie breaks the image of a traditional Maplish centre back with tackling being one of her weakness in play but her passes and clearances are one of the niche of her game to cover up for the lack of tackling that she is putting in. An energiser in the defence, she has proven to be an effective defender.

[ 5 ] - DL - Chong Mei Kei - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A hugely dynamic presence in the defence in club, Mei Kei played her way towards New Portland after starting abroad awhile back, her huge promise and untapped potential mostly from the prospect of playing in the youth squads overseas impressed then manager Muain Newtons. He wasn't wrong in his selection though as she put in the effort and proved critics wrong. During the World Cup 62 qualification campaign she repaid the fate shown in her by Muain Newtons and earned a starting spot after a consistent performance during the preparation phrase of the qualification campaign. On her second selection by Janette in the WC 63 qualification, she showed maturity in her play as she repaid Janette for putting trust into her as she remained as the left-back for Janette throughout the campaign and in the Cup of Harmony that followed.

[ 6 ] - RDM - Jessie Leons - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
Another promising female player from New Portland Rovers, a converted and all rounded player of her time and one of the youngest, she takes a liking on the legendary female player of all time, Maria Sarah, who was also an all round player of her kind. Used as a forward by Muain Newtons because of her speed and physical game despite being a female, she was also nominated for the Cup Of Harmony 54 Goal Of The Tournament. A calm reader of the game and experience playmaker for her age, it was later decided that Jessie should be positioned at the lower half of the pitch to get the full view of the game, in which she was able to perform to her greatest potential during training sessions and it was proven with performances improving gradually. A change in position did not however hinder her chances in front of goal, as she set on some game winning performances in the 63rd WC qualification campaign for the Lions.

[ 8 ] - LDM - Di Ai Jing - Age 23 - Struggait United
An inspiring young figure on the pitch for Struggait United. An inspiring captain for the U-21s just a year back for Mapletish, where the Under 21s won the Union Championships under her fine leadership. Ai Jing was put under the mentor-ship of Maria Sarah during her time in the La Ademica, the prestigious youth academy of Home United, where she was developed as a centre midfielder in the middle of the play where passes, passes and more passes go through her. Despite her small frame, her accurate passes and technique often covered her weakness. Straight after her graduation from La Ademica, she joined Struggait United for M$4.5 million, a bargain sale to Struggait United. Putting in consistent performances, she soon caught the eye of Janette where she was given the chance to train with the senior squad and eventually made her way into Janette's teamsheet.

[ 11 ] - CM - Dennis Long - Age 28 - Djax
A driving force in the rise of Djax who are now playing their trade in the Mapletish Premier League after plying their trade in the lower divisions seasons before. Dennis was placed in the front row of many other players in the same position of him. The target man for Djax, he proved to be a very hardworking player often seen staying back after training and putting in the extra effort to train. After a takeover by mega-rich owners, Dennis sees a change in his footballing career as he becomes the highest paid player below the Football League, with a weekly salary of USD$35,000, which may well be the salary ceiling for some Championships clubs in the higher divisions. The most valuable asset of Djax, he is fast and nimble and a dangerous figure in the box, hitting in an amazing 105 goals in 42 games in the Sunday League averaging 2.5 goals every game. The unofficial highest number of goals scored in a single league season, beating Francis Lee's 80 league goals in 38 league matches by goal average and number of goals scored. First call up Olenz Heinz, it all proves to say that Heinz made the right choice of putting Dennis in the squad as he hit in 80% of the goals for Mapletish in CoH 52 as the Lions finished last in the group stage. He has proven to be one of the game changing masters that the Fireykop has been lacking for quite awhile.

[ 10 ] - CAM - Di Natile - Age 27 - Golden Phoniex - VICE CAPTAIN
An inspiring captain for the U-21s in the past, as well as some impressive game changing performances for Muain in the previous World Cup qualification campaign, he was a key member of Golden Phoniex's first Premier League victory as they topped rivals Home United in a seven point thriller. A former member of the prestigious La Ademica, the youth academy of Home United, United must be kicking themselves up for letting Di Natile go for a hefty USD $37.5 million, which came as a bargain for them. Impressive performances at the wing in Muain's set-up, he was converted inwards as an all around attacking midfielder by Janette who can play anywhere up in front. His game changing performance against arch rivals Gyatso-kai could always be remembered as he took on the defences single handed before distributing an important pass to bag an assist. Consistency has always been on his card since his return into the national team and he looks to bring his best out of himself while carrying the team forward.

[ 19 ] - CAM - Diego Alvarez - Age 25 - Lumburg CV
An important figure for Lumburg CV's promotion to the Premier League and an important figure in the Campeonato Rushmori Juvenil Sub-20, he is one of the most technically gifted midfielders in his team. Known of some excellent distribution of the ball, with the ability of picking out a team-mate with just a single touch of the ball, this quiet individual can often be seen practicing alone and letting his feet do the talking. However he tends to be a complacent player and a single mistake made in a game would affect his morale for many more matches to come. Not a very complete player in his own opinion, he was capable of making game changing performances under Muain's guidance. He has since improved gradually in his game and has brought forward a dynamic presence in the national team cementing his position in the midfield engine.

[ 45 ] - CF - Alero Junio - Age 28 - Home United - CAPTAIN
The man that single handedly took on defences and one of the most feared player of the Lions, he was in every set up and master plans of all different managers in his Lions' career. The front man of the pack, he is the Lions' goal poacher and main target man in every match, whether is it playing down on the left, right or in the centre of the play, he is always up to task. Modelling the playing style of Francis Lee, the all rounded male legend of Mapletish football, he is faster than he look and he rarely lets the ball slipped out from his foot as he is always close to it. His ability to surprise defenders and scare the opposition keeper with his strong shots are what makes him the most dangerous man in the Lions' squad. The man in front of the five men box and an ever dangerous presence in front of an opponents' goal, he has always been the first choice for any team now taking a heavier responsibility as the captain for the national team.

Reserves

[ 14 ] - GK - Maryam Stephanie - Age 28 - Bury Town Ladies
One of the few experienced goalkeepers in the trade in the Women's team, it was clear that she will stepped up to take the number one spot for the Lions' squad, however her place was challenged by Sapphire Avalon after an injury which gave way to Sapphire. Agile and an excellent reader of the game, she has proven to be an excellent reader after her power goalkicks has proved to turn games around. A player with strong nerves too, she is also a first choice penalty taker, always an option for crucial penalty shootouts that any manager will need in an equally crucial cup tie.

[ 15 ] - UD/DWR - Lina Agnetha - Age 21 - Celtics Rovers
A young player at the back, a leading right back for Celtics Rovers in their title challenge in the Women's Premier League. An energetic and great passer at the back, Lina was seen more as a playmaker rather than a defender, she has also proven to be a wing threat through her strong crosses and dangerous break-ins from the wing. A product of the Celtics' youth academy, she has gone on to play for the Women's Under 21 before her addition to the squad by Janette.

[ 16 ] - DC - Taylor Sadie - Age 28 - Home United
The main female in defence and the current most senior defender in Home United. Mentored by former national defender Cecilia Maddalena, Taylor was brought into the game at a comfortable rate under Cecilia as she gained experience on the pitch. Known for her rampant tackles, whether is it standing or sliding, and her aggressiveness in marking any forward or winger that comes her way. It is no doubt that even male players would find it difficult to get past her. A decent successor of Cecilia.

[ 18 ] - UD/DL - Adela Lynette - Age 27 - Djax
A utility defender who can play anywhere at the back, with a more preferred position as the right back, Adela played her way through the youth academy of Djax before featuring for them as a young academy graduate, a mere underestimated and overlooked player, she caught Muain's eye when he was doing his usual observation rounds in the training grounds and during matches but she failed to make his final cut in his team. Adela however caught the eye of Janette through her speedy support on the wings and firm player in the defence, further consistent performances confirmed her addition in the national team.

[ 17 ] - UD/CDM - Nicole Natalie - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A call up once again by Janette came not as a surprise for Nicole as her previous performances in the World Cup 63 qualification campaign has shown that she was capable of providing for her team, one of the few exciting prospects from the NPR youth academy. It came as no surprise for her as she has worked hard for the call up by Janette, partnering Jaimie and Mei Kei in defence back in NPR, they were an invincible force at the back as they would wind up defence into attack in support of the midfield and put on neat performances both in attack and in defence. A great passer at the back, her slim build was more than useful as her speed was largely unmatched by the players in the Mapletish Women's Premier League except by teammate Vivian. Dangerous in the air too, corners and crosses from the flanks would be something easy for her to play in for.

[ 20 ] - CM - Janelle Elda - Age 22 - New Portland Rovers
Janelle, a player with great flair and technique and her bags of stamina, who enjoys running all round the pitch. Usually paired with Enkainia in the midfield, both of them have raked up more passes then any other midfield pairings of the Mapletish Women's Premier League. An established player from the ranks of New Portland Rovers, she was first call up to the Lions' squad for the WC 62 qualification campaign. Known as the midfield domimo, she is a traditional centre midfielder, full of surprises under her package she would be a first choice midfielder.

[ 7 ] - CAM - Enkainia Lee - Age 23 - New Portland Rovers
A talented quick and all rounded player to start with, she was first introduced to the team under the second reign of Muain Newtons. With her first World Cup qualification campaign in the WC 62 cycle. she has since been an important member of the Lions' squad having record some fanciful play in the middle of the pitch as part of the engine room in Muain's master plan. She has since never look back once as she top the list against other male competitors to her spot with her strong presence in her club side. Her idol was no doubt Maria Sarah an all rounded female legend who takes on the role of her female Francis Lee with her strength and energy in her playing style something that Enkainia models in her own playing style too.

[ 21 ] - CF/ST/RF - JH Morison - Age 28 - East Lakers IV
With a series of hugely impressive performances in the Premier League with East Lakers IV after falling out of favour in Home United after injuries plagued his stay in his childhood club, he has established himself as the lone striker of East Lakers IV's game with several fearsome and talented performances under his belt, he has established himself as a talented player however his inconsistency in delivering the goods are what keeps him on the bench all the time. though hardworking in training and a high attacking work rate, he often failed to deliver during matches misfiring shots. It all comes down to see which manager is able to put him in some kind of scoring form again or at least put him in a consistent form.

[ 22 ] - CF/LF/LW - Cirillo Remigio - Age 30 - Bury Town
First selected by Heinz for the Cup Of Harmony 52, and blooded into the youthful and disciplined set up of Heinz and then assistant manager Esteban. He might be under performing in the international stage when first selected, but he was part of the driving force that put Bury Town into the Premier League for the first time in their history. Confident that Remigio would not miss the kind of attacking sense that he displayed in matches that impressed Janette, it would proved to be risky for Janette though like the kind of risk post to Heinz when he was first called up in the 52nd Cup Of Harmony. It all boils down to how Janette make use of his strengths.

[ 23 ] - CAM/RW/RF/CF - Kimberly Aurora - Age 22 - New Portland Rovers
Another player from New Portland Rovers, Kimberly Aurora would make the entire Lions' squad complete with NPR's influence in the style of play if all the females in the Lions' squad play in one match, there would be a near complete team of NPR. Kimberly caught the eye of Janette when she was looking for female players to fit into her squad, a great pair with Jessie Leons in front of the play, the fearsome duo has dominated the game right in the Women's Premier League with some attractive playing style. Fast and agile on the run, Kimberly is full of stamina and can she would be able to run end to end for 120 minutes of play if needed, making her one of the fittest player in the master plan of Janette. She would well be able to form a partnership with Enkainia perfectly and evacuate passes and attacks perfectly.

Player Roles

Vice-Captain : Di Natile
Direct Free Kick Taker : Alero Junio/Di Natile/Jessie Leons
Indirect Free Kick Taker : Di Natile/Jaimie Lim/Diego Alvarez

Left Corner : Di Natile/Alero Junio/Jaimie Lim

TACTICS: "The Leones Da Spectrum" OR "The 4-2-1-2-1"
The Maplish game is fast, physical and highly procession keeping where short passes are played around the players. Fitness is key to the Maplish game where the game switches positions quickly and in an instance. With the players switching positions all the time, the players are tactically disciplined to begin with and cannot afford to take on the defence on his/her own or it might upset the balance of the play if not done properly. Despite that majority of the players are technically gifted with homegrown tricks here and there in the play. The centre of the play is considered to be the most important part of the Spectrum where a "five men box" is put into placed by the five interchanging midfielders. Commonly known as the engine room, any long balls or crosses are played out from either of the five players from the box. The five men box forms four triangles that re position when the play changes sides. The man in the centre of the "five men box" would be the playmaker where all of the connecting passes to the attack would be play past to him. The two players behind the centre forward would the interchangeable attacking midfielders who can be used as an inverted winger to support the play from the wings or being an additional targeting support player. The defence is another crucial part of the spectrum, any quick counterattacking play would be played out through the wing backs who are always quick and on their toes. The quick pressing game of the defence puts opposition on pressure as the defence won't give you a second on the ball to think. In the Leones Spectrum, all players are expected to be able to play in all positions as all positions on the pitch are interdependent of each other and interchangeable of each other. It is some sort of a defensive 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-2-1, but it is a style of football where such interchangeable positions would be useful for the players. Any tired player would swap position to a less taxing role in play and recover, one of the tricks to the Spectrum playing style. So its the he Leones Da Spectrum or the Lions spectrum.

Eura World Cup 65 Qualifying Squad

Manager: Kelly Sporadic (Audioslava), 58 years old

Kelly Sporadic first rose to stardom as a young playmaker for the Silexhera national football side, back in the qualifiers for World Cup 46, and quickly made his name as a star player for XXV de Maio in Cafundeu, where he would spend most of his career. He retired after helping Silexhera qualify for their first and only World Cup finals in cycle 48.

Kelly became manager of the Audioslavia national team for the World Cup 59 cycle, aged just forty-four thanks to the slower Cafunduese time compared to that of Audioslavia, and with a modest history of management and coaching in Cafunduese club football. His first four months brought a level of success that utterly flabbergasted his employers, reaching the final of AOCAF 34 with a bare-bones team of amateurs, including his half-Cafunduese, half-Silexheran son Weverton, who qualified for the Audioslavia national team through means unknown. He followed the AOCAF 34 final with victory in the Baptism of Fire, but could only lead the Bulls to a modest 3-3-6 record in qualifying for WC59, finishing a disappointing 6th from 7 teams, following that with a first-round exit in the Cup of Harmony.

Kelly bounced back for cycle 60, and lead a rejuvinated Audioslavia team to AOCAF 35, where they went one better than their previous foray in the tournament and emerged victorious, beating Andossa se Mitrin Vega 2-0 in the final. World Cup 60 qualifying would prove to be another steep learning curve, as the Bulls finished mid-table in their group, but the side would record their best Cup of Harmony run later on, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Taeshan.

Kelly had lead a fledgling, mostly amateur Audioslavia to two championships, a final and a semi-final in his first two cycles in charge of Audioslavia - a fantastic feat - but things would begin to turn sour for the Silexheran in cycle 61.

The Bulls failed to get out of the group in AOCAF 36, failed to improve on their previous performance in World Cup qualifying, and were all-but ousted from the Cup of Harmony after a heavy defeat to Kinitaria and a subsequent draw at Sargossa. The Audioslavian media, always quick to jump on NT managers, jumped on Kelly, and the Silexheran decided to call it quits before the final game of the tournament, thanking the supporters, players and FFA for ten eventful years as manager.

Kelly became manager of Audioslavia's former BoF rivals Licentiapacisterra for cycle 62, finding immediate success with a championship in the form of the Campionato Esportiva. Kelly then did with the cyan what he couldn't do for the Bulls - take them to the World Cup finals, qualifying via a playoff. The side amassed a paltry point in the finals, but the side would take heart from their position at the top table of world football, and had high hopes to retain their CE title but, in a battle between two former-champions, lost out in the first round to the awesomely named - if modestly talented - THRILLEDGE.

From here, like in Audioslavia, things would turn a little sour. The cyan struggled in their WC63 qualifying group, finally finishing second before entering into, and losing, a playoff with eventual runners-up Starblaydia. The Licentiapacisterran FA decided they'd seen enough of the Audioslavian as NT boss, and announced his contract would not be renewed after the next Campionato Esportiva.

Kelly's age is around fifty-eight years old, and tends to play a solid, defensive style of play focused on technique and maintaining posesssion, no doubt moulded that way after years of having to get a bunch of amateur Audioslavians to avoid humiliatingly large defeats. His 4-5-1 formation he used at Audioslavia has been retained by the claret and green and used to great effect in the WC championship winning cycle, while Kelly's own interpretation of the system, at Licen, has morphed into a more fluid 4-1-4-1.

He signed on as Euran national team manager with a three yer contract to the great surprise of commentators after the Copa Rushmori that preceded the qualifying stages of the 64th World Cup, when Eura were 13th in the world and attempting to regain the sort of form that propelled them to the final of the 60th World Cup. Three years senior of the man he replaces, Ben Randall, Sporadic has to prove now that he can work his magic again with a team that plays a free flowing, attractive style that he would appreciate – but with a higher tempo and a more attacking nature. Perhaps his biggest problem will be tightening up the defence.

Credit to Audioslava for writing up most of this biography.

Assistant: Johannes Kallstrom (Polar Islandstates), 45 years old

Signing his contract on the same day as Sporadic, also for three years, Kallstrom is the latest Polarian import to Euran football, reflecting the close admiration by Eurans of their hardy island nature and going the other way an admiration of a culture where football is deeply ingrained as a passion rather than a sport. He will be working in close conjunction with his subordinate and Head Coach, Louis Watson. Kallstrom’s role is important covering for Sporadic on occasion and playing perhaps a more pivotal role than most assistant managers do in relation to their main men. Much like in his time assistant managing the Terns, he has a big say in selection, tactical chemistry, discipline, maintaining extremely high fitness levels and a superb ability to judge the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition. He has a lot to live up to in emulating the recently resigned Dimitri Campbell, who was as respected as his boss Randall in his time helping Eura emerge on the footballing scene. No pressure then.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Choose my goalscorers – YES
Godmod scoring events – YES
RP injuries to my players – YES
Godmod injuries to my players – YES (But only how the injury happens, NOT the extent of the injury)
Hand out yellow cards to my players – YES (Five a game maximum)
Hand out red cards to my players – YES (One a game maximum)
Godmod other events – YES
YES, provided you keep events within the realms of realism, so no deaths etc. If I have to RP one of my goals as coming off a goose in mid-air or anything else I deem ridiculous I will eat your fucking soul. Generic last minute supergoals from 500 yards/goalkeepers scoring hat-tricks will be given the same distasteful reaction. In fact, I should probably just say ‘fuck you’ in advance.

In today's issue of The Qatarian Times, we shall present some information about Qatarus, for all readers and fans beyond our borders.

Qatarus is a mostly arid nation. Along the White Fang Sea, at the eastern border of the country, the only habitable land exists. Fertile plains sustain the capital city of Rapanon. Few villages are known in the Robi Desert. To the north, The Xonian Mountains have an alpine climate. Most of the year, it snows. But the large expanse of desert between the plains and the mountains make it hard to explore them.

As some of you know, the Qatarian Frogs are a relatively new team. Formed in 1999, the team only played in regional and national tournaments. Most of the players in the national team are from Rapanon City. The Qatarian Frogs have won the national cup eleven times. They have been training for a long time, and are ready to face the international competition.

After a fair result in the Baptism of Fire, the Qatarian team is now ready to enter its first World Cup. but hopes are not high. We are placed eighth in our qualifying group, being placed 267th among the entire world. Here is our qualifying group:
