Swamp Soccer World Cup IV (Everything Thread)

Welcome to the fourth edition of the Swamp Soccer World Cup.

Thirty-Two Nations have traveled from far and wide to the cold shores of The Icemark, to compete in its famous bogs and swamps. Mashiki are the current kings of Swamp Soccer after taking the crown off the former immortals Yesopalitha.

What is Swamp Soccer?
Its not made up for starters. They play this for real. It originates from the swamps of finland where a group of cross-country skiers invented it.
The Rules are as follows:
[*]The game is obviously played in a bog, swamp or a very muddy field
[*]Each team consists of six players (1 Goalkeeper and 5 outfield players).
[*]Substitutes are unlimited throughout the entire game
[*]The game has a duration of two 12 minute halfs of Soccer
[*]The pitch is a tiny bit larger than a 5-A-Side pitch
[*There are no offsides
[*]All kick-offs, throw-ins, corner kicks, free kicks and penalties are taken by using the hands to drop the ball onto a chosen foot. With the exception of penalties, all are indirect
[*]Fancy dress is allowed as long as all your players colours match

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. Silvester, Paulus and Josephus Flaccus are brothers, as are Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Vagionius is the younger brother of the striker for the Saintland World Cup Team. Like his brother, he is very tall and a strong finisher, but Philippus Vagionius is faster than his older brother. Vagionius will handle penalties. Other set pieces will be handled by the Flaccus brother that plays closer to that side of the field. 11 of the 12 players are from Saintland's World Cup team that almost qualified. They were eliminated by the defending and eventual repeat champions Audioslavia in extra time on the final day of qualifying.

Penalty Kick Order of Preference

In the event that my heavily-armed security guards are not ICly allowed into the country, they will be RP'd as present and armed, but not in uniform. Also, Each individual changeling has a preferred form. They are given to you for your RPing use, though you may choose to RP them in any form you wish them to use, no matter how stupid or unrealistic it may be.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
Changeling Team - Swamp Soccer World Cup IV

Team Background
As the National Equestrian Sports Council could not pull together a proper national team once again, several shady members of the NESC have arranged for the role of representing the Equestrian States to be given to the inmates at Alcloptraz Maximum Security Prison. The island prison holds several thousand Changelings, and is rarely on the "To Visit" lists of tourists in the Equestrian States as over ten security checks are required before one is allowed to set a hoof on or off the island. A group of 16 of these Changelings have been chosen by their prison wardens to play as the "official" Equestrian States team. Their selections were based on viciousness and aggressiveness, or at least the guards think they were (it's hard to tell which is which at times). When not playing, the prisoners will be kept in magically-reinforced transport containers kept under armed guard at all times. Guards will also work to prevent any unauthorized news from reaching the Equestrian States itself as the existence of this team is a secret. In the 2nd Swamp Soccer World Cup, a similar team of inmates was sent to represent the Equestrian States. That team performed decently, finishing third in its group and just missing a playoff spot. The team sent to the 3rd SSWC did much better, making the semifinals before falling to Mashiki and the once-unbeatable Yesopalithans.

I would also ask that you shoot me a TG warning if you plan to do something extreme like killing a player.

Farf Squad for the 4th Edition of the Swamp Football World Cup

GOALKEEPERS

Oté Siszkozxo (Starter)
22 Years old

Oté is the newest Farf swamp football promise. Oté is probably the best goalkeeper Farfadillis has got for ths sport (which has already come to second in importance for the country, and second only to association football). He's very quick with saves and has got a very unusual talent, he can read the opponent's eyes. That means he can basically know where a shot is heading as soon as the striker knows. There's a downside, though, the striker might shoot towards, say, the left and accidentally shooot towards the right, which might confuse Siszkozxo, who has still got some really nice reflexes and can jump relatively high considering he's in mud.

Diramé Mizzo
24 Years old

Just a sub. Even though he's good, he's just an above-average goalkeeper wth nothing special and pretty much worse than Sizkozxo in every aspect, albeit by not much of a difference. A very decent sub, just an unlucky one who finds itself outclassed by the one who actually plays.

DEFENDERS

Rancisc Faró (Starter)
17 Years old

Faró is a very good defender as he's incredibly agile in mud, and can move his legs quickly to recover the ball. Rgarding skill, he's above-average and can make nice passes, some crosses and shoot if needed. Faró has a place in the starting eleven mainly because of how good he's in all areas and how he's not particularly bad in anything that another defender isn't. He's also the younger brother of Friekder Dandalleion, Farfadillis' possibly biggest association football star who also started his career through swamp football. Though they don't share their surname (they've got different fathers) they're very close. There's a lot of expectations throughout Farfadillis just because he's his brother and has started the same way.

Septimus Alvarrezaim (Starter) (Captain)
27 Years old

An experienced player who is about to retire due to personal problems and has been rewarded with a place in the starting eleven because of it. However, as absurd as it may sound, Alvarrezaim is a very good defender and can probably justify his place in the starting eleven anyways so it's not a huge deal. He's very good as a captain and thus has been chosen for that job as well. His leadership is unmatched, at least in that little and completely overpopulated island called Farfadillis.

Esteban Zabala (Starter)
22 Years old

Zabala is quite a fast player and can dribble when needed, though he's not that good at defending, it's very difficult to dribble him without having to dribble him another time as he's incredibly energetic and, as said, very fast. He's one of those players that can run non-stop during a lot of time, though that doesn't mean Zabala doesn't need to rest occasionally. He's running on mud after all.

Lanet Tennexau
25 Years old

Tennexau is a nice sub that can replace any of the defenders when they get inevitably exhausted, and is a very good way to save energy for the end of the match, when it's needed the most. He's very versatile and can fullfil many roles at the same time, though he's just slightly above-average in most, if not all, of them. He still helps the team out a lot.

Eric Tennexau
25 Years old

Lanet's twin, Eric can do just the same but a bit worse. He still plays, but only on unimportant matches where the starting eleven should play the least possible. Eric isn't really bad, but he's not particularly good either, and Lanet does exactly the same but better, so he's not got much to do here except occasionally get to play as a get-tired-for-the-team puppet.

MIDFIELDERS

Friekder Dandalleion (Starter)
21 Years old

Faró's brother and the only player from the original Swamp Football World Cup II squad, as well as the only one to play association football, and as the national team's best player no less. Dandalleion is blazingly fast and very skilled, incredibly versatile, can fill any position and is pretty good at marking, though he's way better at everything else. A veteran at the game despite his age, Swamp Football was what sky-rocketed it to fame and all, back when Farfadillis got their first achievement in any sport as a nation. Dandalleion was Farfadillis' top scorer last two times and is just looking to win the whole thing after the heart-breaking final loss from last edition. He's thirsty for winning it all, specially in this sport. Without a doubt, the team's best player.

Ander di Matyo (Starter)
20 Years old

di Matyo is Dandalleion's companion in the midfield, playing as the defensive back-bone of the team and a very reliable way to get fast counterattacks for Friekder to finish. He may not be overwhelmingly good, but he does what he has to do extremely well and is one of the most regular players, and one of the few that can last an entire match if needed. Pressure doesn't affect him either, and he's lust for winning is equal to Dandalleion's.

Güzerd Dagón
18 Years old

Dagón is talented; there's no doubt about it. However, he's not really good at shooting or marking, and he's not one of those players that can last much during a match. He's also a bit too young and he's not developed compeltely as a player, so you could say this is a green apple waiting to become shining red one. Still, he can be a good replacement for Dandalleion when he feels like he's too tired and should rest. The same goes for di Matyo.

STRIKER

Hamed Ndri (Starter)
28 Years old

Titanic. One word can define Ndri easily. From African origins, Ndri is black-skinned and has got tremendous strength. He can jump incredibly high and the sheer strength of his shots is incredible. He's 2 metres tall, to top it off. Though he's a bit slow, he more than makes up for it by knowing when to pass the ball and where to run to find free space and continue attacking. He's also an everlasting goal machine in a way. He just never gets tired, and doesn't really need a sub, though Dagón can replace him as a striker should it be needed. He's very consistent as well.

I hereby allow my opponent to do anything within reason, but I reserve the right to ignore something which I deem as godmodding. A TG before godmodding would be greatly appreciated, however.

Some Village is the name of the boat where the 216 inhabitants of my nation constantly reside. They are the descendants of a group of people who left Judea after king Herod took his reign in 40 B.C.-ish. Throughout the past five centuries, they have been roaming around the western coasts of the known world, attempting to settle in places such as Mauritania, Scilly, Alderney, Frisia and the Faeroer Islands. For more info, click my flag on the left-hand side and check my factbook. Currently, we are 457 A.D. and once again, they had to flee and live in an Ark. Following an ancient prophecy, they are on the lookout for the mythical Islas Fortunas. Despite and because of that, they must interact with the outside world, trying to gather resources and information.

With eighteen they were, gathered around the table. In any serious nation, they would’ve been named ministers or secretary of state, but over here they were just ‘the responsible’. Only King Zedekiah had a dignified tone to his title, although it shouldn’t be overstated. Elected, just as all the others, there was more authority in his giant beard then in his designation.

“All right, so that concludes the point about the water shortage. I think this sums it all up quite well. This brings us to the end of this week’s meeting, unless someone has got something to add?”
“Actually, I have.”

It was Gera who asked the permission from the group to speak. Being the youngest person from the government, he was praised for his clever remarks and quick thinking. Others, however, blamed him for his ambition. It was no secret that he dreamed about the crown one day. His lively blue eyes seemed to absorb everything on his path, in order to store it for his own magnificent future.

“Dear members of the government,” he started.

Some already sighed, thinking about the dinner which followed the meeting.

“As the responsible for foreigners,” Gera continued, “I am also in charge of our diplomatic acts. As we all know, it is in our utmost interest to keep our contacts with the outside world as good as possible. We all know we live in turbulent times. The danger no longer comes from the Romans alone, an enemy with which negotiation was possible. Today, many barbarian tribes are a threat to the existence of our community.”
“No lecture, Gera,” Rahab interrupted, “we’ve got teachers enough for that.”

The responsible for navigation got the hungry ones on her hand with this line and some couldn’t stop laughing. Being a ship-based nation, her role was almost as important as the royal one. She is steering the nation into its direction in the most literal way possible.

“Rahab!” King Zedekiah interrupted, “Order during meetings!”
“Thank you, dear king,” Gera riposted. “As I was saying, times are difficult for diplomacy. More than ever, it is important to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. A diversity of ways to reach this target is possible. Give unique presents, throw big banquets, support a massive corps of ambassadors, provide an army, … All ways that are beyond our feeble budget. However, dear members of the government, however! There are alternatives!”

Gera waited a second, trying to build a dramatic tension.

“During our stay in Bragao, I learned about a new cultural phenomenon, the idea of tournaments!”
“Tournaments?”, repeated Mordecai, our ancient responsible of memory and secretary of the meetings.
“T, O, U, R, N, A, ments, that’s how you spell it.”
“I knew that,” the secretary grumbled. His age hadn’t made his memory much better, quite ironic considering his position in the group.
“What do you intend to say, Gera?” asked king Zedekiah, in an attempt to get the discussion back on topic.
“I think we should represent a team to one of those tournaments, to get people to know us on the international scene. This will make our relations with others better and avoid conflicts in the foreseeable future. It’s an easy and cheap method!”
“But… what does that mean?”
“We participate to one of those tournaments! All I need is twelve young volunteers who are willing to go. I have checked, the competition is open for all and not dangerous. It will be better for us!”

For a few seconds, everyone tried to grasp what Gera just proposed.

“Ridiculous,” Rahab responded. “That is the most moronic thing I ever heard! We’re only with 216, making us lose twelve people will completely defunct our society.”
“We can manage without if we’re not on open sea.”
“And how do you think you are going to get there, Gera?”, she smiled.
“We could use the emergency vessel, going along the coast towards the venue.”

Gera had clearly thought this true, but many were still sceptic. A discussion opened, although the name ‘brawl’ seemed more appropriate. With a few strikes from his hammer, Zedekiah restored the peace.

“I understand the worries many here have… It is dangerous, not only for those who go but also for those who leave behind. We cannot afford such loss.”
“A-ha!” Rahab proclaimed.
“However,” he continued, “we need to do something. For four years straight, we’re living at sea. We need a new save home, if not in our destined Islas Fortunas, then it could be a temporary home, to strengthen our spirits and bodies. Good contacts with other nations is vital for finding either a save place for a few years or information about the Islas. I give you permission to enlist us for the tournament.”
“A-ha!” Gera triumphed.
“However,” Zedekiah declared, “there are a few limitations. First of all, I send Rahab along with you. No one can navigate the vessel as good as her and I want you all to come back home save. Secondly, the twelve competitors must be volunteers, not forced to join. If you cannot find twelve, you don’t go.”

Although some attempted a protest, with Rahab ahead, it became clear that this decision was final. Zedekiah wasn’t the kind of king that changed his opinion every half hour. When the people left the room, still discussing, he took Gera by the arm.

“Gera, I tell you once more. Rahab navigates and is in charge, is that very clear?”
“Yes, I understand.”

His words were clear, but his eyes looked away from his king.

“Besides, Gera, where is that tournament?”
“Ehm… up north I think. It’s in some nation named The Icemark.”
“And what’s the tournament about?”
“Ehm… Swamp soccer, dear king.”
“Swamp soccer?”

Before Zedekiah could properly react, Gera had already fled to dinner.

~~~
At the table where the youngsters were eating together, the atmosphere was wild. As in the government meeting, opinions were split about Gera’s idea.
“For god’s sake, Gera, swamp soccer. You realise we’re living on a boat for four years now and haven’t seen a bit of mud during that period?”
“That’s not so important. The game is more about fun and endurance. We can use some fun after four years and staying on an ark for four years is a clear sign of endurance. So, that is the plan, people. Who will join me to go to the Icemark?”
“I will come along, my brother,” Yotam declared, quickly followed by third sibling Lukajs and their brother-in-law Obed.
“Thank you, guys, who else?”
The enthusiasm for the plan seemed to have died down quickly when the question for volunteers came.
“Can girls come along as well?” Hephizah asked. Aged eighteen, she already made the heads turn of the available (and unavailable) men on the ship.
“Of course they can,” Gera answered.
“Then I’ll join! Rebekah, won’t you come along? Such an epic adventure!”
She didn’t seem very eager, but felt like she couldn’t let her best friend take up this glove alone.
“The place of a man is next to his wife,” Iepthae claimed, “so I will join my fiancée.”
“Then I’ll follow my brother,” Adonijah whispered. The silent laughs from the crowd came from those who rather imagined the skinny youngster following the ravishing Hephizah then his brother.
“Four more needed… Come on! It’s about the destiny of our tribe, people!”
“Then I’ll go,” the ever dutyfull Jairus said, while Abdias and Persis volunteered as well.
However, when the question for a last player was sounded, no person responded.
“No one?”
The silence was deafening, until a voice, clear as crystal water, sounded through the dinner place.
“I’ll go,” Esther said. A king’s daughter to conclude a team.
The National Swamp Soccer Team for SOME VILLAGE
Outfit
Not being used to living up north, they wear a shirt with long sleeves made out of bear fur. They wear some sort of long goatskin trousers as well and go barefooted (as sandals and mud do not work together). Please do not step on their toes too much.
Colors
Because of above: brown.
Manager
Rahab, daughter of Micaiah and Dinah, 38
Starting Team
Jairus   2 caps   0 goals   son of Iakobos and Zilpah         25 goalkeeper     Tall and quick reactions but an awful throw
Abdias 2 caps 0 goals son of Lewi and Delilah 25 defender Not afraid of anything but technically weak
Hephizah 2 caps 0 goals daughter of Timothei and Tabitha 18 left-wing She's quick, she's hot and she's not that good
Iepthae 2 caps 2 goals son of Heridion and Huldah 21 right-wing Calm and one of the few with a proper pass
Gera 2 caps 1 goal son of Naamah 29 left attacker Enthousiast captain of his team and a good header
Lukajs 2 caps 2 goals son of Naamah 27 right attacker He has four longs (but according to our medics that is not unusual)
Replacements
Yotam    1 cap    0 goals   son of Naamah                        31 goalkeeper     Bit slow but generally almost as good as Jairus
Obed 2 caps 0 goals son of Timothei and Tabitha 24 defender Could be positioned elsewhere as well, he's the secret weapon
Adonijah 2 caps 1 goal son of Heridion and Huldah 18 left-wing Small and a little bit scared
Esther 2 caps 0 goals daughter of King Zedekiah and Martha 22 right-wing Worthy, for as far as that is possible in a bog
Persis 1 cap 1 goal daughter of Cephas and Priscilla 24 left attacker Sweet kick in the feet, but very slow
Rebekah 0 caps 0 goals daughter of Jezebel 18 right attacker Not sure what she is doing here
Note that we don’t have something like last names. With only 216 inhabitants, it’s no so hard to have unique names. You can write about them by their first name.
You’ve got seven starters instead of six. Not to nag, just noticed. Or it is a cunning plan to confuse the opponent, in which case, well done.
Mashiki's Swamp Soccer World Cup IV Roster
Mashiki are back for the 3rd Swamp Soccer World Cup, with the national team looking to retain their trophy after last time's triumph. They remain in 2nd place in the Swamp Soccer World Rankings, so now their main aim for this tournament is for the team to take the number 1 spot off Yesopalitha, which could be possible. Mashiki lie in a strong position though, as the team that won last time is back, completely unchanged. The reason for this? Well, the head board of Mashik sports (MNSS) believe that if Mashiki were able to win the last tournament with this team, then at the moment they should be the best in the world. But on to the team; let's have a recap of who will be playing for Mashiki:
Coach: Signa Twaqulu - Signa returns as the grandmaster of all things in Mashik Swamp Soccer. A tactical genius, Signa has been at the forefront of Mashiki's 2nd and 1st place finishes over the last 2 tournaments. After an unsuccessful stint as Mashiki's National Football Team, he cam back to Swamp Soccer and was welcomed with open arms. He looks forward to taking charge of Mashiki again.
Position - Name - Age - Number - Info
First Team:
GK Bakala Turalik - 28 - 88 - Bakala is back and still in solid form for the 4th World Cup. After conceding only 3 goals in 8 games last time out. He came out with the second lowest goals against tally for the tournament (behind Wight who only conceded 2, but went out in the quarter-finals). He inspired Mashiki into winning the final on penalties 4-2, as well as taking one himself. This time he wants to try and concede even less.
DF Borili Duba - 20 - 12 - Last time out Borili was a major uncertainty for the World Cup, and not many people had heard of him. He arrived out of nowhere, taking the number 12 shirt from Frezili Bakunga in a stylish fashion. On his début he scored the winning goal against Licentiapacisterra, and he also kept 6 clean sheets throughout the tournament. He is looking forward to this World Cup even more than the last one.
DF Biglo Figraz (Vice-Captain) - 24 - 14 - Biglo was promoted from the bench last time out, and he didn't disappoint. He scored the winning penalty against Farfadillis in the final, and has been promoted to vice-captain role after last time's success. Biglo had always been looking up to his older brother Dwek, but now things were different, and he was in charge.
MF Dwek Figraz - 25 - 6 - Dwek is the playmaker. He picks out all the passes before the runs have even been made, and loves to be in charge of the field. He is probably the squad's anchor: the one that brings everything back to Earth in one slow, smooth transition. He hasn't got a bad shot on him either...
MF Frenzi Ikalok (Captain) - 33 - 8 - If Dwek is the anchor in the team then Frenzi is most certainly the rudder; he always steers the team in the right direction. Back home he is a national superstar, a key figure in society. He's also very likeable as well, and when times of trouble come, Frenzi is always there to bring everything back to reality. he is the reason that Mashiki won last time out, and he hopes to do the same this time.
FW Tshaka Rashbata - 26 - 12 - Tshaka is a bullet in the mud, a needle in the hay, a joker in the card pack, a cannon in the minefield, a black jack in blackjack, and most importantly a striker in the swamp. He can change everything in an instant, and an instant is all he needs.
Substitutes:
GK Friki Lamchakla - 36 - 24
DF Frezili Bakunga - 27 - 66
DF Himki Wachiki - 27 - 30
MF Hanka Laku - 22 - 44
MF Rumela Dowk - 20 - 16
FW Rinko Dwalnaka - 22 - 36
The reason for all of the kit numbers being even numbers is that odd numbers that are written out in text are looked down upon in Mashiki, due to an early text found in the depths of the Tubushu caves warning against the use of it. It is a major tradition that is respected throughout Mashiki.
Kriegiersien Mudlings:
The players are the first guys the Kriegiersien embassy in the Icemark could get hold of.
Goal
Eduard Ericson (Age 47)
The janitor in the embassy, a grumpy, hard-nosed, hard-working cynic, fitting perfectly into the team. If kids shoot a ball over the wall of the embassy, he holds it forever.
Utz Hellström (29)
Is also the coach and a passionate fan of Swamp Soccer. He is the cook in the embassy and swears that he can make the team World Champion.
Field
Frank Steiner (24)
A guard in the embassy. He was expelled to this post after the "Sunrisemassacre". Whatever lies behind those black eyes, no one with a normal mind wants to know. Knows how to tackle someone into the mud.
Malte Schmier (21)
An artist at the ball, the translator not only speaks 7 languages, he also played Soccer at home in the first Kriegiersien Division.
Heino Ramstein (32)
The musician was on a tour in the Icemark and immediately commited to the course, as singer of the national anthem and sportfan (he also played Rugby when he was young).
Max Bauer (37)
Plays as midfielder in a minor league in the Icemark and was taken into the team.
John Doe (Age?)
Kept imprisoned as a spy in the secret cells of the embassy, he was promised freedom if winning for the team.
Aaron Wu (37)
A tourist and hero of the Kriegiersien Cupfinal 20 years ago, when he scored three goals and the final penalty. Was easily convinced to strengthen the team.
Mohammed Janssen (27)
A navy on shore leave, massive, father of 12 children, enthusiasctic swamp soccer fan and alcoholic.
Samuel Cohen (19)
Exchange student, who played as kid in the mud and soccer in the defense in his school team.
Alexei Malik (25)
Born in the Icemark, with Kriegiersien father, he was convinced he could play for Kriegiersien in the Swamp Soccer World Cup. Plays for the Archrival of the team from Max Bauer.
Dr. Sue-Ann Shiomi (56)
Portrayed as evil witch from the swamp, she seemed perfectly as support for the team, as .... medic e.g.
RP: Do as you wish.
King Zekediah, members of the government, fellow citizens,
I am glad to send you this message. After weeks of travel, we have reached the shores of The Icemark. Our trip was long and I am unsure if this dove will be able to reach you. However, in case this noble animal may find his way back to our ship, I am glad to announce you that all members of our team are safe and healthy. It took us quite some time to follow the coast up north against the wind and we had to hide in a bay near Portus Itius when the Creatures got displeased. However, when the storm abated, we have kept on moving our vessel to the north. The damage was only limited, so we had no major setback in our schedule. Luckily, I must say, since we got lost in the fog bank near the cliffs of Hordaland. When the mist separated, we had a clear view of the Dancing Maiden Mountains, a range which denotes the south of our host nation for the tournament.
They local population welcomed us in a friendly and enthusiast way. Although Swamp Soccer might not be the most important tournament in the universe, it certainly has gained popularity in these regions and the players from across the world are greeted and cheered as heroes. Our location of stay is currently the capital city Frostmarris, while the weather is less frosty than feared. However, the temperature is still near zero degrees and the moist atmosphere assures us of harsh playing conditions.
Yesterday, the draw has been made for the tournament. As this is already the fourth edition of the SSWC, the results from the previous editions has been recalculated in order to determine which nations may be seen as the powerhouses of this game. They are positioned in different groups for the first round, in order to prevent them of annihilating each other before the real start of the series.
Our first adversary will be the nation of Lukquarel, positioned 14th in the world. They have gained this spot on the international stage after their successful debut at the inaugural World Cup. Their team reached the semi-final, only to be eliminated by a nation going under the name Ipeland. Former fourth of the world, it is clear that this will be a worthy opponent.
On the following day, we will face the host nation. This is not only a great honor for Some Village, an opportunity to make our star shine on the international stage. This game will also be decisive to see our sportive potential in swamp soccer. The Icemark hasn’t reached the quarterfinals yet, but their experience makes them a fierce adversary.
The decisive game for our qualification will be played against a nation which celebrates its first participation, just like us, Super-Llamaland. It is currently unclear to us whether they will stage llamas or humans, but Gera is out on research about this. I can tell you that such is not an unnecessary measure, as a group of changelings already signed up and the double champions are vampires, according to our sources.
Our squad itself has used the past few days to get accustomed to the game. It appears that the goal is to position a ball, about the size of a follis, between three bars that are located on the other side of a boggy field by kicking the ball. The opposite team attempts the same. As far as I’ve been able to detect, it is forbidden to kick other players, unless it is by accident. Attempts to put your finger in an opponent’s eye-socket seems to be disapproved as well. Clearly, a healthy dose of violence is not attached to this sport.
After our excessive training, a tactic has been created which will hopefully bring us success. As the main goal is to score, we will go for full attack. Only Jairus, who is allowed to use his hands, and Abdias try to defend our goal, while Hephizah and Iepthae are responsible to bring the ball forward. Brothers Gera and Lukajs should be enabled to score points that way.
As you see, dear friends, we have been immersed in a whole new world. An exciting adventure, such is for sure. Wish us good luck!
Cordial greetings,
Rahab,
responsible for Navigation.
PS to our government. So far I have not been able to communicate with many people here about possible maps of the western ocean. I have attempted to get in conversation with local people about the Islas Fortunas, but no results so far. It is unclear whether they don’t know any better or refuse to cooperate. I will however keep up attempts to gather information among the other delegations.
PS to our king. Please, remark once again to Gera in thou following letter how the hierarchy of this endeavor is organized. During the travel itself, he attempted to take over command in a subtle way. His opinion is well appreciated amongst his peers, but if I hadn’t ordered hiding near Portus Itius, none of us would have survived. Gera, however, wanted to keep on sailing and if Jairus, Abdias and Persis would not have helped me out, we would have been left at open sea to the forces of the Creatures (who, if I may be so bold, might be displeased by the behavior of certain people on board). The others are almost under his anarchic authority, as their spirits are young and weak. This also counts for thou daughter, Esther. Only a clear signal by thou, our king and leader, can avoid further quarrel and division and bring us back home safely.
Ark Roster:
Goalkeeper:
Flora Aegis
Outfield 'Players':
Eunectes Gigantus 'Freddy'
Eunectus Gigantus 'Damien'
Eunectes Gigantus 'Poppy'
Ark Team Background:
Yes, only 4 players. Allow me to explain ...
Ark is a man-made country located somewhere within the Rushmori Ocean. A long time ago, at roughly the same time as colonists departed Paradystopia to form the country of Commune-PDT.v2, a second party departed by a titanic boat. Their aim, to seek a new utopia for themselves. Somewhere along the way, the great engines which powered this floating fortress broke irreparably rendering the inhabitants lost at sea. Their arrogance forbidding them from contacting their native land for aid.
For a great many years they drifted, slowly becoming adapted to a life on the water until eventually the decision was made to drop anchor and simply accept this location as their new home. As the job of the men was to gather fish from the ocean, these long periods away saw the evolution of a, for want of a better word, femocracy. Soon women had established themselves as the dominant sex, overseeing all of the governance and administrative work in Ark and in many cases, oppressing the men.
(RP note: Arkan players/supporters are very likely to be dismissive of male players, officials and ... well, men in general. Please take this into account)
The Arkan swamp soccer team is not really a soccer team. It consists of Flora Aegis, a biologist with much experience in sea-dwelling reptiles and her pets, three giant anacondas. Within the bowels of Ark, exists a massive swamp-like area. An ecosystem has developed here amongst the bilge and moss, fueled by the warmth of several large energy generators which provide Ark with it's electrical power. Large electric lights for the benefit of maintenance crews exist as an artificial sun.
It is here, within the 'Troglodytic Jungle', that Flora has trained three of her huge snakes (all between 3-4 metres long) to compete adequately at football within these surroundings. They move swiftly beneath the water line, striking the ball with their heads at a vicious pace. Flora plays as a somewhat mediocre goalkeeper, manager and captain.
(RP Note: They are trained not to attack humans(/other players) but any aggressive provocation may result in being constricted and eaten. Flora may step in to prevent this, but see the previous note regarding Arkan gender inequality.)
The team play lightning fast and aggressive, though Flora is pretty useless as a goalkeeper.
Style Modifier = +5 (or maximum attacking modifier)
RP Permissions:
I'm happy with more or less anything however, I do ask one thing.
Before you do anything crazy, ask yourself one question. Would you expect a TG in that circumstance? If so, TG me (or Paradystopia) first. I'm unlikely to decline a good RP idea, I'd just prefer an advance warning. Thanx.
Swamp Soccer World Cup IV: Preview
(Saintland Press) The Kingdom of Saintland is entering the World Cup, but this time the Sanctii will be entering the fourth World Cup of Swamp Soccer. Alessandro Seius will captain a team of 12 players, which will be traveling to The Icemark to play soccer in a swamp. 11 of those 12 players are members of the National Soccer Team that recently competed in the World Cup. After being knocked out of the Baptism of Fire by eventual champions New Sideburn in the Quarterfinals, they were eliminated by Audioslavia on the final day of qualification on a counter-attack in added time. In the Cup of Harmony, they advanced out of their group at the expense of Hutt River and Mangolana and they defeated Jeruselem on penalties to advance to the Quarterfinals. They took United Gordonopia into extra time, but 2 Gordonopian goals in extra time ended their run. Now, the majority of that team has been sent to the Swamp Soccer World Cup.
That does not include Prince Andreas, the captain of the National Soccer Team. Prince Andreas is widely regarded as one of the best soccer players in the world, but the SP can confirm that he will not be leaving the Kingdom of Saintland until the Strongnesse Trophy match in New Sideburn prior to the 65th World Cup of regular soccer. He is apparently running some new company funded out of the Royal Treasury, but all the SP knows is that the company is called Royal Computer Entertainment of Saintland. Beyond that, the SP is unaware of what Prince Andreas is working on, but that is expected to be revealed prior to the next World Cup. Georgius Catiotus is also known to be an employee of RCES.
Against that backdrop, Alessandro Seius will captain a team of 12 players. All of them have international experience. Antonius Avidius will be the backup keeper for the National Swamp Soccer Team, as he is for the National Soccer Team. He is well-known for his awful performance against Soviet Canuckistan in the second half after Seius got injured. Avidius allowed 5 goals in a half in his only international appearance so far. However, he was sent to his club team in St. Alessandro village. He was to play St. Paulus at Via Damascus Stadium in a match where St. Paulus was expected to win by a rout. However, Avidius held them scoreless for 90 minutes and St. Alessandro escaped with a win. Defensively, Matthaeus Belaeus will be starting for the Sanctii while the Jucundius brothers will reprise their role as defensive substitutes. All 3 Flaccus brothers will start, including Josephus Flaccus. The youngest of the 3 brothers, Josephus is a talented player, but he reportedly doesn't take things seriously enough. The Sanctii are hoping that he will mature during this competition. Andreas Inventius, the defensive-minded midfielder, will be available as a substitute. Philippus Vagionius will be the striker for the National Swamp Soccer Team. Vagionius is playing in his first season as a member of St. Paulus and recently captained the National Beach Soccer Team, which went 0-4 due to terrible goalkeeping. This is his second chance to impress Prince Andreas and earn a spot on the National Soccer Team. Paulus Gabinius and Ioannes Gratus are other strikers that will be available off the bench.
Swamp soccer is played in a bog, swamp or very muddy field by teams of 6 players. Each half of swamp soccer lasts 12 minutes. Substitution is unlimited and there is no offside rule. The match is played on a small pitch. Set pieces are taken by using the hands to drop the ball on a chosen foot. All set pieces other than penalties are indirect.
The 32 participants in the Swamp Soccer World Cup were drawn into 8 groups of 4. This is the largest field ever at a Swamp Soccer World Cup. The first 3 had fields of 20, 25 and 24 participants respectively. The Sanctii were drawn into Group G. The first match for our Kingdom's National Team will be against Wight. Wight were one of the hosts of the recent World Cup of regular soccer. The debuted at the second Swamp Soccer World Cup, finishing 4th. At the last Swamp Soccer World Cup, Wight went undefeated in their group and were upset by the Equestrian States on penalties in the quarters. They are ranked 5th going into this 4th Swamp Soccer World Cup. The second match for the Sanctii is against Mapletish. Mapletish debuted at the first Swamp Soccer World Cup. They finished 3rd in their group of 5 teams and did not advance out of that group. They did not enter the second or third Swamp Soccer World Cup. Mapletish is currently tied for the 23rd ranking. On the 3rd and final day of the group stage, the Sanctii will face Kriegiersien, who is also debuting at this 4th Swamp Soccer World Cup. "I am looking forward to captaining the National Swamp Soccer Team and I promise everybody in the Kingdom that this team will be focused. If we play our best and we put our trust in God, He will be with us and we will put up a strong performance. We don't have Prince Andreas, but we do have 11 of the 18 players from our National Soccer Team. The 12th player on our team is one of the best young players in the League. We may not have Stephanus Vagionius, but his brother Philippus may be even more talented. He just has to live up to his potential. I'm cautiously optimistic. Although National Teams that are captained by commoners don't have the best track record, I think this team will prove that our National Teams can play well even when they aren't captained by a Prince of Saintland."
Obviously, Wight is the favorite to win Group G, but after them the group is wide open. Alessandro Seius will be hoping that he can lead the Sanctii to a second place finish, which would be good enough for a spot in the Last 16. Should the Sanctii upset Wight on the opening day, that will change everything and suddenly the National Swamp Soccer Team will be hoping to win their group outright, but so long as they make it to the last 16, anything can happen. Iosue Alfenus will be in The Icemark to interview players from the National Swamp Soccer Team for Royal Five. Royal Five will be broadcasting every Sanctii match of the Swamp Soccer World Cup live throughout the Kingdom and all matches will be available on-demand on Sanctustube on the Royal Networks channel. The Kingdom of Saintland will be hoping for a strong performance out of the National Team in this competition. While most people in the Kingdom don't expect them to win the Swamp Soccer World Cup, they do expect the Sanctii to advance to the last 16 and preferably further. That is well within the realm of possibility.
Sent to the Swamps,
by Marcus Brantley
I remember watching in college the first swamp soccer games that we participated in. I was initially excited when the Queen proclaimed that men were finally going to have a chance to play in a World Cup. I have played soccer my whole life, and I like to think that I have become pretty good at it. I have worked hard, and earned a contract to play in Winchester, something in which I am honored to be doing. Back then, when I heard that the nation was going to have men play in the World Cup, I thought immediately about the big one. It became a big joke when the team eventually landed in The Icemark, and found out that they were playing Swamp Soccer. Women throughout Cassadaigua laughed at their plight, but I still supported the team. Being sent there only as a publicity stunt and a way for women to get amusement, that initial team performed rather well. They didn’t win a title or anything, but they didn’t whine over what they were being asked to do, they went out there, learned the specifics as far as the unique rules of the sport, and did their best.
Now it’s later, and when I was named to Swamp Soccer team, I didn’t see it as an insult. In fact, I am proud to be representing Cassadaigua in the competition. If you ask everyone on this team, they all know what they are getting into now, and the women who laughed at us being in the first one now, can just tune this out, while we legitimately make a push for this title. I hope that we have some support at home, but if not, then we’ll deal with it. There is a lot of gender-related tension back at home now, more then I have ever seen before, and it is good to be away from that for a little and pursue a common goal. The opposition of Subramani, Free South Califas, and Max Empire is what it is. There’s nothing you can compare swamp soccer too, so we’re just going to go out there and try to find a way to beat those opponents. Bring it on!
"We may be newcomers in this competition, but we will do our best to gazump our opponents. This is also a preparation for bigger tournaments like the World Cup so it would be best to go all out, since our coach told us that to be a great footballer, one must play in any field, may it be a field or a swamp."Team Captain delos Reyes said in an interview.
"These 12 players are part of the selection pool for the Sangtian Squad World Cup 65 and they are the youngest in the pool. We selected them to gain experience and also to take advantage of the innate speed and stamina these kids have." Vance said in the press conference.
(ooc: Cdre = Commodore, Mid = Midshipwoman)
Flora stood within a great box of imitation wood and polished steel. The walls near covered in pictures of women in military uniform, deified in whatever substances Ark could pass off as paint. At the end of the room stood a marble desk, also probably imitation and behind that sat the Commodore. Commodore Hilda Forksul, Commander-in-Chief of the Arka. (The Cdre preferred the demonym 'Arka' after finding out that in any Slavic-based language, the word 'Arkan' would be viewed as masculine ... such was gender politics here)
"Flora, my dear. Come closer."
The lifeless stares of the former leaders felt like concrete upon her shoulders as she marched up to the desk. Yes, it was imitation marble.
"So Flora, the swamp soccer world cup? Are we suitably prepared?"
"Yes Ma'am. The travel arrangements for the Anacondas are just about sorted. Damien and Poppy are ... well, 'packed', as it were and Freddy will be once he's slept off his last feed."
The Cdre tried unsuccessfully to suppress a look or repulsion at the name 'Freddy' by twisting it into a smile more befitting a crocodile.
"Why not Freda, rather than Freddy, Flora dear?"
"Well ... err ... He's male ..."
The forced smile dropped from the Cdre's lips instantly and her true repugnance shone through. There was a hint of accusation in her eyes, as though Flora had deliberately bred a male snake just to offend her. Failing to perceive guilt in Flora's nervous gaze, she re-composed her smile and continued regardless.
"And your chances of victory for the women of Ark?"
"I'm not sure. The team performed well in the Arkan .. err ... the Arka Swamp Soccer League."
"I wasn't aware of a domestic league."
"Oh, well, it's not official. It's just something for the workers in the Jungle. Maintenance, Energy Tech and such. Mid Kay Vellis invited me to use the league to train the team and get some playing experience."
"Is that so?"
The Cdre hastily scribbled down the name Mid Kay Vellis on a scrap of paper beside her. Making a mental note to keep a closer watch over her junior officers and dissuade them from participating in non-officially sanctioned sports. Flora continued.
"We won the league. I have the statistics here should you wish to see them?"
"Certainly, my dear."
The Cdre scanned over the sheets quickly, thinking only how her beloved country still managed to have electricity with her staff playing football amongst the bilge of the lowest decks. Seeing 'Anacondi' at the top of the list of teams was enough to confirm Flora's statement.
"But what of international teams? These teams are merely amateurs, hobbyists. They are not true sportswomen or ... sports ... persons."
"Well, we will see the calibre of Freddy, Damien and Poppy on the first match day as we play the reigning champions, Mashiki. I think we have a chance, they are very good but they can't defend against what they cannot see and the Anacondas can move quicker through a swamp than any human. Then Filopines, who have earnt their stripes in previous swamp soccer tournaments but are in no way a strong team and finally Timfen, who like us, are debutants. We should beat them. We'll qualify, easily."
Flora was lying, she didn't think it would be easy at all. She was saying what she expected the Cdre wanted to hear. In reality, she thought Timfen was the only nation they stood a chance against. The snakes were too unpredictable and her command over them needed work. Also best not to mention her lousy ability as a goalkeeper. However, the Cdre seemed impressed, if only by Flora's vigour and self-belief.
"Very good Flora, very good. I think you had better go now and rest up before your journey to The Icemark. And be sure to bring back a trophy for the proud women of Ark."
Flora forced a laugh as although the Cdre's tone was jovial, it was clear that she expected something in return for graciously allowing Flora to take three snakes and compete in a sport she had never heard of before 2 weeks or so ago. As she left, once again she felt the stare of past leaders. It was as though they knew she was destined to fail. As she left the room, the Cdre pressed the button on her intercom.
"Get me Mid Kay Vellis ... now ... "
Alessandro Seius injured as Wight defeats the Kingdom of Saintland 6 to 2
(SP) This was not the way the Sanctii had hoped that their debut at the Swamp Soccer World Cup would go. Early on in this match, their captain and goalkeeper Alessandro Seius tripped on the muddy swamp-like field trying to stop a shot. He was unable to continue in the match and Antonius Avidius's performance was reminiscent of his disastrous performance the last time Seius had gotten injured. That was in the regular soccer World Cup qualifiers against Soviet Canuckistan. At the half, that match had been tied at nil to nil, but in the second half Avidius conceded 5 goals. Second half collapses proved to be a persistent weakness for the Sanctii in that competition. On this day, playing a different version of soccer, Philippus Vagionius would score 2 goals, but Avidius was not prepared to play and could seemingly only watch helplessly as Wight added on goal after goal. "When I tripped and tried to get back up, I could not get back up. I knew at that point that I could not continue in this match, so I sat on the sideline and captained the team from there. The doctors wanted to look at my left leg immediately, but I told them they would have to wait until after the match. After the match, they looked at it and I am apparently out for the rest of this tournament. There's no ligament damage, but I don't want to risk a more serious injury. If it was the real World Cup, I'd be out there playing tomorrow, but it isn't. Antonius [Avidius] will have to figure out how to keep shots out of the back of the net. If he can figure that out, we can probably score enough to advance out of this group." - Alessandro Seius
Seius would be injured in the first minute of this match. Thomas Tardigrade took a shot at goal early on and Seius moved to save the shot. Seius tried to go to his left toward the shot, but he tripped on the mud. This ensured that there would be several minutes of extra time, as it took a while for Seius to be helped off the pitch. Tardigrade's shot went in for the first goal. Wight led 1 goal to nil.
Antonius Avidius came on for Seius. The Sanctii came out playing well when play resumed in the 9th minute. Josephus Flaccus saw an opportunity to get the ball to Philippus Vagionius in the scoring area and he did just that. Taking advantage of the lack of an offside rule, Flaccus sent a pass past the entire Wight team to Vagionius. Vagionius got to it and sent it into an empty net. Wight's so-called "rush goalkeeper" cost them this time. In the 12th minute, Matthaeus Belaeus gained possession of the ball by intercepting a pass intended for F.C. Sumner. Belaeus sent it to the other side of the pitch for Vagionius. This time, Wight had a player in goal and Januarius Cove saved the Vagionius shot.
Prior to halftime, Wight would score 2 goals in the lengthy added time. Early on in added time, Rolland of the Leache passed to Big John Corfe Sheviock. Sheviock took a shot and Avidius missed it. Wight led 2 goals to 1. After a Paulus Flaccus pass intended for Vagionius was intercepted, Wight quickly took it into the Sanctii side of the field. With only Belaeus and Avidius to beat, Squirrel O'Donnell side-stepped Belaeus and put it past Avidius in the back of the net. Wight led 3 goals to 1 as the referee blew his whistle for halftime.
At halftime, Seius made some adjustments. He sent Paulus Gabinius and Ioannes Gratus into the match and pulled out Belaeus and Josephus Flaccus. Seius instructed his team to play more aggressively in the second half. That would produce some success early in the second half, as Paulus Flaccus passed to Gratus in the scoring area in the 13th minute. Gratus faked a shot and passed to Vagionius. Rolland of the Leache bought the fake and left the net open for Vagionius to score. Suddenly, the Kingdom of Saintland was within 1 and Wight led by just 3 goals to 2.
Then, the bottom fell out. They brought in that player with the blasphemous name that we will not publish in the SP and passed the ball toward him. That player took a shot and scored in the 15th minute. Wight now led 4 to 2. In the 18th minute, Cobus Amble would add Wight's 5th goal. Januarius Cove finished things out with a goal in the 23rd minute. When it was all said and done, Wight had won by a score of 6 goals to 2.
The other day, in our preview for the Swamp Soccer World Cup, the SP reported that Wight went undefeated in the group stage of the last Swamp Soccer World Cup. They appear to be heading toward another undefeated group stage. In the other Group G match, Kriegiersien played Mapletish to a nil-nil draw. What this means is that the Kingdom of Saintland only needs to win one of those 2 matches and draw the other to advance to the last 16, assuming that Wight wins all 3 of their matches, as seems likely. Tomorrow, the Sanctii face Mapletish and they will be hoping to leave with 3 points. That match will be broadcast live on Royal Five. The Sanctii will be eliminated from the Swamp Soccer World Cup with a defeat, so they must get at least a draw tomorrow against Mapletish. Whether or not that is attainable is in doubt, with the injury to the Sanctii captain.
Honoured high-born king Zekediah, noble men and women of our government, beloved fellow citizens,
I, your humble responsible of Foreigners Gera, have taken up the plume today to report you upon our adventures in that distant land up north, named the Icemark. When we gathered on the field, our opponent already was ready for the battle that would ensue. After an inspiring speech, we gathered our courage to face the Lukquan national swamp soccer team. I encouraged our brave players to give their very best in order to ensure the honour of the blue seas, the red ship and the white star of our proud nation.
In no way, we can underestimate the capabilities of our opponent. If it weren’t for one single lost game, they might have been the ones that would’ve held the very first World Cup. Their team, filled with internationally reputed players such as Wischelw and Kiproquo, was determined to defeat us in order to ensure their chances for the next round.
The game got to a rather despicable start. We had many difficulties to get hold of the ball and only three minutes in, our courageous left-winger Iepthae lost his left sandal in the knee-high mud. I advised my teammates to leave their footwear to the side of the field and this tactical manoeuvre created a new dimension to our game. Halfway during the first half, Abdias managed to kick the ball to the front. Hephizah swooped past her direct opponent and with magnificent passing, the harpastum went in front of the goal, where my brother Lukajs kicked it before the opposing goalie Feratre could react.
We kept this advantage throughout the first twelve minutes and Iepthae managed to double the scoreline with a surprising kick. With this heroic and historic advantage, we changed sides halfway the game. Our legs were already exhausted but I kept the spirits high, which resulted in a third goal. Another fine assisting pass by Iepthae and I could head the ball in the upper left corner with full force. The goalie stood no chance. With time ticking away, we decided to give some time to our replacement players so they could get used to the game as well. We did have to accept a goal by our opponents, a fine bicycle kick by Wischelw, but in the end, I could give a pass, splendid and correct, which resulted in a goal by Persis.
A marvellous result, dear readers, and it is needless to tell that the team is tired but joyful upon this result. We hadn’t dared to hope for a victory, but I told our team to believe in it. Our next opponent is The Icemark, the host nation which has equalled against Super-Llamaland. A worthy adversary, against which I will stimulate our squad to once again make all of you back home proud.
With honour,
Gera
Responsible of Foreigners
PS for King Zedekiah. Dear king, I am honoured and glad to see the interest and concern with which you are following our team. This only shows thou greatness as a king. I can assure that despite whatever stories have reached you, the situation in the team is as it should be. Rahab leads us off the field and I do it on the field, as you insinuated. We present ourselves as a tight, honourable and firm nation here, and I assure you that I do everything possible to keep up this vision.
Dear King Zedekiah,
I send this message to you alone, after discovering that one of our carrying pigeons has disappeared. I know there is a slight chance that this is an incorrect accusation, but I’m quite sure that Gera has sent a message to you and probably the whole population. To not give the people back home the impression that there is quarrel over here, I will deliver this text to your eyes only.
Yesterday, we have played our first game in the competition. Despite my thorough advice, Gera preferred the team to start the game with their sandals on. Poor Iepthae still hasn’t found his left slipper in the mud and I’m not sure if we’re going to find a good pair over here. Because of that, he’s wearing something the locals call “sneakers” at the moment.
The game itself went quite well, although we were not facing the strongest opponent ever. The Lukquarel team actually represented a small region of their nation and their goalie wasn’t having their luckiest game. Our squad, however, performed well and the many exercises in the short period we are here, are generating results. Both Iepthae and Lukajs seem particularly talented for this sport, while the others do all they can to support them.
Despite the large victory, I still keep a bitter taste in my mouth for the events of the final minutes. With three goals in advance, I decided that our substitutes should be given the taste of the game as well. After all, this is a social event. All players agreed, only Gera refused to leave the field. Luckily, Rebekah didn’t mind to stay on the bench, but this shows a lack of camaraderie and sportsmanship, in my humble opinion. I would ask you to bring across your message once again and clearer. The leadership of this endeavour can only be carried by one pair of shoulders and should be the case both on and off the field. Gera refused to understand that out of your previous message. However, his egocentric move at the end of the game has not done his popularity well. I will do my utmost best to ensure that this events do not backlash on our performance, nor our nation.
Your servant,
Rahab.
PS. I think I may have found an interesting lead upon the Islas Fortunas. Another nation represented in this tournament, named Ark, has encountered similar problems as ours. Being a sea-based nation, they might have valuable information upon the western coasts. I will attempt to speak their national captain, a biologist named Flora Aegis. Gera almost deteriorate our chances for a good contact. I have no clue what he said to her, but she reacted as if he was a piece of dirt. I will keep you in the running about further evolutions upon this matter.
Swamp Soccer World Cup in The Icemark. Yes, thats a thing and sounds cool. Kriegiersien is in and what does that mean? They set a record for...wait for it....
Most boring game ever?
Kriegiersien 0–0 Mapletish
In words: Zero Zero. Yeah.
3-3 shots.
1 red card
dirty Swamp
A battle in the mud, with the most interesting incident (or accident?) happening when Psycho Frank Steiner grabbed an opponent, smashed him into the mud and cried "Why won't you die?", before getting suspended.
Mudwrestling between naked girls: Great
Between men with 1 ball: Boring.
Now against Saintland it is the battle between the best defense (haha) and the holy prophets.
Some other guy from Saintland (Holycow33) explained to me in a chat, that they would only need 1 draw and 1 win to proceed now. Wight would beat anyone anyway.
Following this, a defeat would mean the end for Saintland, but I'm not sure if the raising of Wight to a Super-Swamp-Power doesn't have a to do with the heavy 2-6 defeat from Saintland against them.
But then, I'm not an expert in this crazy sport, we will know more after the next games. Let's see if I find and want to watch a stream.
Group C
The Icemark 1–1 Super-Llamaland
Some Village 4–1 Lukquarel
Group Table                  Pld   W  D  L   GF  GA  GD  Pts
1 Some Village 1 1 0 0 4 1 +3 3
2 Super-Llamaland 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
The Icemark 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
4 Lukquarel 1 0 0 1 1 4 −3 0
In a match against hosting The Icemark, the Llamas performed okay, but not great, to draw the hosts one apiece.
Tyson Richards was brilliant, saving sixteen shots on goal. While the defense, which allowed the sixteen shots, wasn't very good; Richards compensated with his old brilliance on a swampy afternoon.
Different players reacted differently to the new terrain. Evan Powell was especially beneficial, scoring the lone Llama goal in the thirty-sixth minute. The Icemark pounded out ten shots on goal in the next half, but only one went in.
Trevor Duncan fell in a scary moment in the thirty-fourth minute, but was subbed out for Drew Yiega and later was okay, going back in the sixty-third for Yiega, who suffered from the swampyness.
Most Valuable Llamas: Tyson Richards, Evan Powell
Least Valuable Llamas: Jeff James, Drew Yiega
Dirtiest Llama: Trevor Duncan, who fell twice in sixteen minutes
The Llamas are tied for second. We'll see if they'll do better next time.
