The Army Air Corps?! PFFFFFFFFFFFFT! You're kidding, right? You have to be. You know that the Army Air Corps became the Air Force in 1947? I hope so. All the Army has for aircraft now is helicopters. AH-64s, UH-60s, all that good stuff.

Wrong Army Air Corps.

UH-60 is inferior to Lynx.
AH-64 is inferior to WAH-64.

Army Air Corps (US) is inferior to Army Air Corps (UK).

I remember you applied, and you're welcome to apply again, if you like.

However, you understand why I try to keep this thread restricted to either those who are applying, or those who are already in.

I can assure you you have the tacit support of the ATK. :p
I've found that with ES, I've completely scratched my RP itch. I don't need any other RPs - I just want to do Excalibur stuff forever.
It's an odd phenomenon - the novelty factor of doing an RP like this has pretty much gone, but I want to keep doing it just as much as I did when I started.

As evidenced by the fact that this is currently the longest running RP I have ever been in, and the longest OOC threat I have participated in! Party on boys!

Way to go dude, you support a WW2 German empire. At least I won't make the same mistake as Hitler did, Like genocide and declaring war on the soviet union.

I don't even need Poland considering it is a apart of the Balken Empire since the 700s.

I already have Germany, poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, The Czech republic, Belorus and urkraine.

Not to mention the fenrir corps, it's pretty much a less genocidal Waffen SS and the chimera corps like the SS panzer divisions.

You really need to broaden your tastes a bit, Balk. My nation back then used equipment made in both America and Nazi Germany. In fact, we still have STG 44s and G43s for the best of the Elite Royal Guard, thought they have been....'tweaked', shall we say?

Anyway, IC post up. Expect a new one-shot (NOT a Forging the Sword piece, and it'll be directly relating to the Taurus plot - it'll make sense when I post it) in the next day or so.

Stanford's Story Part III

Postby Goram » Wed May 08, 2013 9:32 am

May 29th 1940

The sun had barely been up thirty minutes and already 41 Squadron was embroiled in their first desperate action of the day. For Douglas Stanford, it was the first fight of the rest of his war. He hadn't slept in thirty six hours but it wasn't the lack of sleep that bothered him. Barely fifteen hours had past since the telegram informing him of his brother's death had been delivered. The bell had rung only a quarter of an hour later and in the mad dash to the aircraft, the telegram had been blown off to god knows where but the words were still fresh in his mind. On that sortie and all sorties there after on that day, Jerry hadn't shown his face. This morning, however, the sky was lousing with JU-87s, attempting to play havoc with the Allied shipping coming from and going to Dunkirk.

This was the first action Stanford had seen after the news had been delivered and he was out for revenge against anything that bore those evil little crosses on it's wings. He struck early and hard, cutting a Stuka down on the first pass and damaging another on the second. He never saw what happened to the damaged bomber and whilst he suspected it might have crashed, nobody could confirm it. Stanford's moment of revenge, however, came at the end of the impromptu battle. Glancing down to two o'clock low he spotted a German attempting to flee the marauding Spitfires. At any other point in his RAF career, Stanford might have been tempted to let the enemy aircraft scuttle on home; but not today.

Stanford charged into the attack with his guns blazing. His first blast hammered the rear section of the cockpit, obviously killing the gunner and leaving the Stuka virtually helpless. Stanford settled behind the gull winged dive bomber and fired again, a very short burst into the port wing in an effort to shred the control surfaces there. Over the next minute or so, Stanford chipped away at the Stuka with bursts of less than a second each. He had the murderous intention of forcing the German to die the death of a thousand paper cuts and there was nothing the Luftwaffe man could do. Whilst Stanford carried out the ugly deed, all he could think about was the last time he'd seen David. It had been is 23rd birthday, the day after war had been declared. It was also the day that he told the family he'd enlisted into the RAF.

By this point the Stuka was a smoking wreck, barely in the air at all. Stanford had blown away both ailerons, the elevators, most of the tail section and both of the aircraft's non-retractable landing gear. As he prepared to give the bomber another cut, he heard a voice over the radio

For Christ sake Red Two, put the bugger out of his misery or by God I will.

The voice had come from the Squadron Leader and it prompted Stanford to fire a long burst into the flying wreck. The Junkers staggered under the weight of fire before finally spiralling, out of control, into the ocean. It was his third kill of the war and the one he'd remember most vividly.

The atmosphere in the mess that night was odd. Of course the rest of the squadron all knew what had happened to his brother, but they'd all seen what he did to the fleeing German. They acted as if nothing had happened but Stanford could tell something was off. He joined their singing and camaraderie, just as he did every night, but he could tell that everyone was just that little bit more wary of him now. After the day's action, he wondered if the Squadron would ever see him in the same light again.

Damn straight.
So here's a question I'm vaguely curious about: if you were in charge of casting an ES movie, who would be your choice to play Page?
This is a bit indulgent, I know, but I am kinda interested to see how other people envision him.

Did you just ask who Sean Bean is? Aw, hell no!

Wouldn't work though, Page isn't from Sheffield. Then again, neither was Sharpe...
