Now that the KNL may send two teams to the CC, the bitter fight between Maethoru and Branvun had less intensity than previous years. Still, Maethoru came out on top, Branvun came in second and for the GC, Jeknolr and Kthosl (both new to international football(!)) secured their spots well. Tangku, in fifth place, only just had more points than Liju.

The Ko-oren Capitals and Engbrothun are back to the KNL! For Engbrothun, their stay was only one year, but KOC have been in this somewhat longer. Katrun and Hurricane were both just one point short of getting into the KNL, but at least they made it to the SBCC too. This year, three Eastern teams relegated to the third level... Some league restructuring will be needed.

Sraltlur was by far the best team in the league, something you don't see often considering the third division teams are usually close together.

Wui was much stronger than any other team, securing their spot in the KNL2. There was a big fight for the top half of the table, with 9 teams between 43 and 38 points.

Loaro secured their KNL2 spot with one goal to spare! This is what a Ko-orenite third division usually looks like, with Saiwu, Sepo and Safurung also having had a good chance for the promotion spot.

All eight leagues of Greater Ko-oren have joined together to make a cup with all 165 teams in the system. Teams from different leagues and levels will start their cup adventure in different rounds (11 in total!). The first round is just for Ko-oren's own 3rd division, the second round has this 3rd division together with the only professional team from Skyvinduryoren. After that, all teams except for explicit division 1 teams will play (that is: every team except for those in the first divisions of Ko-oren, Thaulandi and New Ko-oren), and so on. Until we've got a winner in Round 11!

Cup R8
Enkl (KOR) 1–0 Yama (TAO)
Noctilucent (KOR) 0–2 13 Tower (THL)
1 Tower (THL) 0–1 Branvun (KOR)
Elinem (NKO) 1–0 Vnoskjulung (KOR)
Akayama (TAO) 0–4 Kangutsu (KOR)
Maethoru (KOR) 0–0 Ko-oren Capitals (KOR) (0–0 AET) (4–3 pen.)
14 Tower (THL) 0–3 Kthosl (KOR)
Taki (TAO) 1–0 Selesi (KOR)

The last eight teams are from Ko-oren (5), Thaulandi (1), New Ko-oren (1) and Taloren (1). The cupfighters of Ko-oren Capitals, the team that won the now-defunct Ko-orenite Cup (for just teams from the Ko-orenite league structure) twice, and beating top teams such as Maethoru in the process, were eliminated... by Maethoru. The reigning champions of the league needed penalties for that, but they managed to fight the Capitals off. Furthermore, Noctilucent, one of the third division teams that played the first round, was finally eliminated by 13 Tower from Thaulandi. 14 Tower from Thaulandi also did very well, the last remaining team from the Thaulandian 2nd division were finally eliminated by Kthosl. Taki is the only Taloren team to stay in, they beat Selesi 1-0. Elinem is the last representative of New Ko-oren, beating Vnoskjulung, a team that seemed an underdog for the title, following their 4-0 scores in earlier rounds.

Cup R9
13 Tower (THL) 0–3 Kangutsu (KOR)
Kthosl (KOR) 3–0 Maethoru (KOR)
Elinem (NKO) 0–1 Branvun (KOR)
Enkl (KOR) 2–2 Taki (TAO) (2–3 AET)

In the Quarterfinals, the last Thaulandian and New Ko-orenite teams went out. Kangutsu and Branvun were too strong for them - Kangutsu might have been the largest surprise here. Taki stays in after an energetic extra time versus Enkl (last team from Ko-orenite 2nd division). The biggest surprise of the round is most definitely the large defeat of Maethoru: 3-0! The team that was semi-finalist of the Champions' Cup not so long ago seemed like they had the most experience in knock-out rounds, but they were surprised by Kthosl in the end.

Cup R10
Kthosl (KOR) 1–1 Taki (TAO) (1–2 AET)
Kangutsu (KOR) 2–1 Branvun (KOR)

The semifinals have ended, and both matches were a surprise! (OOC: even if anyone ever reads this: I really got these results on the first scorination!) Taki, the Taloren enigma, beat Kthosl in extra time! Branvun, the regular runner-up of the league, was beaten by Kangutsu, another team that may be called underdog for the title. But then again, these were the semifinals and it turns out we have two dark horses in the final: Taki from Taloren and Kangutsu from Ko-oren!

Cup R11
Taki (TAO) 1–2 Kangutsu (KOR)

And that's the end of the cup! Kangutsu fought off Taki in regular time, whereas Taki won most of their matches in extra time. Kangutsu scored their second goal far into the second half, and the Taloren team had no way of fighting back again. Congratulations to Kangutsu, winners of the first Greater Ko-orenite Cup!

The Field Hockey league has been restarted once again - the same teams as the ones in the last installment are in. The league winner is Aj Uin State, closely followed by a number of teams. Ko-oren Blues, Wui City, Vajothl-Alara and Alara were all within one victory of the first place. The last five teams were far apart from the rest, but for the rest, the league is highly competitive and anyone can beat anyone.

The amount of games has once again been increased in the baseball league. Teams now play 108 games in the season, apart from playoffs. The amount of teams and the conferences have been kept exactly as last season. Here are the final standings:

Northwestern Conference Pld W L RF RA RD Pts
1 Silver Admirals 108 85 23 544 253 +291 255
2 Golden Generals 108 76 32 488 291 +197 228
3 Sun's Regents 108 68 40 496 363 +133 204
4 Fire Chariots 108 64 44 442 347 +95 192

5 Jeweled Challengers 108 52 56 411 405 +6 156
6 Mounted Knights 108 52 56 405 407 −2 156
7 Army of Sea 108 47 61 361 437 −76 141
8 Moving Castles 108 38 70 310 514 −204 114
9 Angles 108 31 77 314 517 −203 93
10 Flying Dragons 108 27 81 270 507 −237 81

Southeastern Conference Pld W L RF RA RD Pts
1 Vintage Cowboys 108 89 19 552 253 +299 267
2 Lava Bearers 108 84 24 519 280 +239 252
3 Classy Farmers 108 68 40 487 334 +153 204
4 Charging Hounds 108 60 48 435 358 +77 180

5 Premium Originals 108 60 48 463 398 +65 180
6 Running Indians 108 53 55 411 399 +12 159
7 Machine Reds 108 44 64 394 513 −119 132
8 Chaotic Killers 108 41 67 337 474 −137 123
9 Double B's 108 25 83 299 535 −236 75
10 Red Doctors 108 16 92 209 562 −353 48

One improvement over the previous system is that differences between teams' strengths are even more clearly defined. The Silver Admirals reigned over the NW, and the other three teams that qualifed for the playoffs are a lot better than the last six teams. At the bottom, the Angles and the Flying Dragons are last by a so much bigger distance. In SE, the top two teams are an insane amount points ahead of the other teams: they won over 80 games versus 60-70 games from three teams below them.

Playoffs:

Silver Admirals 4–2 Charging Hounds
Charging Hounds 5–3 Silver Admirals
Silver Admirals 1–3 Charging Hounds
Charging Hounds advances 2-1

Golden Generals 5–0 Classy Farmers
Classy Farmers 3–0 Golden Generals
Golden Generals 4–0 Classy Farmers
Golden Generals advances 2-1

Sun's Regents 2–0 Lava Bearers
Lava Bearers 1–3 Sun's Regents
Sun's Regents advances 2-0

Fire Chariots 3–7 Vintage Cowboys
Vintage Cowboys 0–1 Fire Chariots
Fire Chariots 4–2 Vintage Cowboys
Fire Chariots advances 2-1

In the first round of playoffs, all teams that expected to make the BCCC were eliminated. From the four teams (Silver, Gold, Lava and Vintage) that usually at least want to make the semifinals of the playoffs, only the Golden Generals advanced. The Lava Bearers did especially bad, losing 2-0.

Sun's Regents 2–3 Fire Chariots
Fire Chariots 9–5 Sun's Regents
Fire Chariots advances 2-0

Charging Hounds 1–4 Golden Generals
Golden Generals 6–1 Charging Hounds
Golden Generals advances 2-0

All teams in this stage of the competition were all assured of a BCCC spot, and the results from now on only decide the relative seeding in the BCCC. The Fire Chariots continued to amaze by eliminating the Sun's Regents 2-0, and the Golden Generals continued their winning streak now that the other three usual suspects are out. There is a lot of pressure on the team to perform now that the toughest competitions are out.

Fire Chariots 3–8 Golden Generals
Golden Generals 7–4 Fire Chariots
Fire Chariots 3–5 Golden Generals
Golden Generals win 3-0

As expected, the Golden Generals had absolutely no trouble past the first playoff round. They won their semifinal 2-0, and they beat the Fire Chariots 3-0 in a season that all typically good teams seemed to try to get out of the tournament as soon as possible.

BCCC:
1. Golden Generals
2. Fire Chariots
3. Charging Hounds
4. Sun's Regents

Here is the first of a series of eight Marathons run across Ko-oren and its territories. The first one is through Ko-oren City, and the route was the same as the one used for the international Ko-oren City Marathon last year.

The first marathon was dominated by the Thaulandians. They were not per se expected to do this good, but they stole the win from the more experienced Nistok (who did run in the international KCM). Irithoren surely hoped to do better, though all four finished, two of them were with the last four to finish.

It was the parade of the mid-table teams in Thaulandi this season, as the top three finished 5th, sixth and seventh last season. Meanwhile, Tower 5 gave up the championship they worked so hard for last year and came in fourth, at least good enough for the Globe Cup. Promoted teams 10 and 18 tower did very differently: one relegated instantly, the other finished with the top half.
In the second division, the relegated teams 6 and 12 tower were expected to promote. They didn't: 12 Tower finished last of the league (though three teams finished within 5 goals from each other, all on 15 points) and 6 Tower just made it into the SBCC.

Finally, after these few seasons, the Thaulandian league is taking its shape. In its first few seasons, the two divisions all had nine teams which meant one had a bye day. Nowadays, the top league has 10 teams and the second division has eight. The eighteen weeks it takes for the entire league to be played are in the months June (2 matchdays), July (8 MDs) and August (8 MDs). During July and August, there are two matches per week, usually one on Wednesday and one on Friday. The climate of Thaulandi is so unbearably cold that there are basically just 20 weeks warm enough to play (two weeks are scheduled matchdays, but only in case of a delay during the season). Because Thaulandi has an extremely large economy, the wages paid during these eighteen weeks are not bad, and as it is precisely in the summer vacation of the Ko-orenite leagues, many stars of the KNL come to Thaulandi for a few weeks to get some extra payment. Typically, the players that are on form in Thaulandi are said to perform very well in Ko-oren, and additionally, some Ko-orenite pro teams send their talents to Thaulandi to earn some money for the club and get some extra experience.

It is clear that all games of the TNL are played in Thaulandi nowadays. Before, when there was one scheduled match maximum per week, and it was too cold in May and June at the start of the league and in September and October at the end, the last few match days were played scattered around Ko-oren's colonies, often playing some matches in the northernmost state of Ko-oren (Vnoskjulung) and on nearby islands (the colonies of Irithoren and Skyvinduryoren, the latter is such a small island that it has only one team that obviously can't play league games against itself, but does play in the Greater Ko-orenite Cup).

Lastly, here is the biggest of all leagues of the Greater Ko-orenite Region. We have seen all other seven (well, six because Skyvinduryoren does not have a league due to its small size) leagues end in the last days, and here is the KNL itself. Ko-orenite clubs have been extremely active on the transfer market lately, which has proven very valuable and worthwile to some clubs, while some others might have wished they kept to a young, homegrown squad. Before the final standings are here, here are some individual prizes:

KNL 1 Top Scorer Art Jarrel (FAL), Liju, 27 goals
KNL 1 Assist Leader Bjarswind Napertnau (KOR), Maethoru, 15 assists
KNL 1 Best Stadium National Stadium, Ko-oren City, Ko-oren Capitals
KNL 1 Best GK Nomenot Induthaus (KOR), Jeknolr
KNL 1 Best DEF Ganimedes Epimetus (Irithoren), Maethoru
KNL 1 Best MID Pta Talmis (KOR), Liju
KNL 1 Best STR Art Jarrel (FAL), Liju
KNL 1 Best talent U-20 Koppel Denzil (DAR), Branvun

KNL 2 Top Scorer Talgunmastin Hergalundat (KOR), Minato-Shi, 29 goals
KNL 2 Assist Leader Miskutin Palgalusheth (KOR), Minato-Shi, 17 assists

KNL 3 Top Scorer Izuni Nijigumo (TAO), Rainbow (3E), 20 goals
KNL 3 Assist Leader 5-773981 (THL), Vajothl (3N), 9 assists

Who would've thought Kangutsu would end up last. The overall young squad have won the Greater Ko-orenite Cup, they have gotten so many new supporters with their fresh football, and now they ended up last in the league. The same goes for Hail, but where the predictions put Hail with the last five teams, Kangutsu was expected to challenge the top half. Their strategies of playing with many young players and one or two experienced 30-year-olds has backfired, and they have got a season in KNL2 to consider their new tactics.

Maethoru are again at the top of the table. This year, the difference with the runner-up was tiny, beating Liju only by GD. At least they ended up a lot higher than the rest of the league, with Jeknolr, Branvun and Kol qualifying for the Globe Cup. Branvun is another team that did not meet expectations this season. They are used to a second place and Champions' Cup entry, though now they have to play in the Globe Cup with extra pressure: should the association lose any more points to the direct coefficient opposition, this season has been the last that Ko-oren could send two teams to the CC, the only opportunity Branvun have to play this prestigious tournament. Norilya and Othushun again failed to break into the top 5, but Jattulnar and Engbrothun have beaten the odds and finished in the top half.

There was a group of five teams that were considered good enough to promote to KNL, and both teams that eventually made it were not part of this group. They will have to go to the moon and back to ensure they will not relegate instantly, and instead of them, Minato-Shi, Vnoskjulung, Hogone and Laridju have another season to ponder their comeback move.

Greater Ko-orenite Cup: Last season, we had two surprising teams in the final. But that is what this cup is about. All 165 professional teams from Ko-oren and its colonies are involved, and it will take eleven rounds to come to the conclusion. The winner will play for the Ko-orenite Association in the Cygnus Cup, a tournament that Ko-oren has not sent a representative to for a long while. Even if the winner turns out to be from Thaulandi (official UICA association), they will be entered as being Ko-orenite.

From here, we just have 16 teams left to battle for the Cup. All teams will be drawn randomly against each other, and out of all eight leagues, we still have the following represented:

Ko-oren (6)
Taloren (4)
New Ko-oren (3)
Zakhoren (2)
Arhoren (1)

Round 8
Hurricane (KOR) 0–3 Norilya (KOR)
Hiro (TAO) 2–1 Saga (NKO)
Arhoren Autumn Yellow (ARO) 0–1 Liju (KOR)
Lakwa (NKO) 0–0 Aultar (NKO) (0–0 AET) (5–4 pen.)
Iye (TAO) 2–1 Mitaka (ZAO)
Uzhotu (KOR) 1–2 Engbrothun (KOR)
Polaris (ZAO) 0–2 Jeknolr (KOR)
Yama (TAO) 1–0 Yuki (TAO)

And with this, the final teams from Zakhoren and Arhoren have all been eliminated. The fight now just goes between the leagues from Ko-oren, Taloren and Zakhoren. Thaulandi is the most obvious league that is missing from this point, they have some work to do if they want to compete with the other relatively big leagues.

Round 9
Hiro (TAO) 1–0 Liju (KOR)
Norilya (KOR) 2–0 Lakwa (NKO)
Iye (TAO) 0–0 Yama (TAO) (1–1 AET) (4–2 pen.)
Engbrothun (KOR) 0–1 Jeknolr (KOR)

The remaining four teams are from Ko-oren (Norilya, Jeknolr) and Taloren (Hiro, Iye). Taloren, never reknowned for having a strong league, have always made it with a team on this level. Last year, it was Taki who eventually even played the final. For Ko-oren, the biggest teams usually lose (Maethoru, Liju, Branvun, Kol) but the stable mid-table teams carry on and make it into the final stages. Here is Round 10, the semifinal:

Round 10
Iye (TAO) 2–3 Hiro (TAO)
Norilya (KOR) 0–0 Jeknolr (KOR) (0–0 AET) (3–1 pen.)

Luck had the two associations battle it out between themselves. The final will again be between a Ko-orenite and a Talorenite team: Hiro vs. Norilya. Norilya initially disappointed their fans with the poor finish that made them miss the Globe Cup, but could they make it up with a Cygnus Cup spot?

Round 11 - Final
Hiro (TAO) 1–1 Norilya (KOR) (1–1 AET) (4–3 pen.)

The final had everything the fans wished for. Goals for both teams, extra time, dramatic penalties that eventually had the underdogs from Taloren win the Cup!

This is the second in a series of Marathons across Ko-oren and its colonies. This one was in the southern city of Tangku, known for its cool breeze around this time of year. It was not as cold as in Ko-oren City, where the first marathon was held, so that made some difference in the times. The first three were slower than the Ko-oren City winners, but overall more athletes finished than last time. This time, the marathon was won by a Ko-orenite, and the second and third place went to two different colonies. The Thaulandians that did so well last time, were nowhere to be seen: last times winner finished third-to-last.

National Field Hockey League - Season 2

National League Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Enkl Hockey Club 26 15 2 9 46 39 +7 47
2 Mayara HC 26 12 8 6 36 30 +6 44
3 Aj Uin State 26 12 7 7 49 41 +8 43
4 Sraltlur HC 26 13 3 10 38 40 −2 42
5 Wui City HC 26 11 7 8 43 38 +5 40
6 Alara HC 26 11 6 9 38 31 +7 39
7 Vajothl-Alara HC 26 11 4 11 40 46 −6 37
8 Ka Uin State 26 10 5 11 41 39 +2 35
9 Ko-oren Greens 26 10 5 11 31 34 −3 35
10 Ko-oren Blues 26 8 8 10 35 39 −4 32
11 Othushun-Sraltlur HC 26 8 7 11 39 36 +3 31
12 Jattulnar Club 26 8 6 12 40 36 +4 30
13 Kolkath MHC 26 5 11 10 31 41 −10 26
14 Kthosl State 26 6 5 15 28 45 −17 23

Another poor season for Alara, the team that bought some new players to take revenge for again not taking the title in the sport its citizens love so much. Enkl came from nowhere to claim the championship, and Mayara came from nowhere to claim the second place. Last year's champions Aj Uin fell back a little to third place, but the biggest fall is by the Ko-oren Blues: they ranked under last year's last place and big rivals Ko-oren Greens.

8 Koyane Kii (TAO) 2:19:21 Ningabasa
9 Lakanar Nistok (KOR) 2:19:53 Ko-oren City

The third Marathon was run in the Eastern city of Ningabasa. The relatively high temperature and humidity caused the overall times to be a bit worse than before, and it also caused some medical problems which explains the high number of athletes that did not finish. The problems were especially big for the Thaulandians who come from an arctic environment.

As for the overall best times, the record by 16-9461 in Ko-oren still has not been bested. There are at least still five more marathons to do this, but Ko-oren's very own Kakrugin Lashnigor came close as he won the Ningabasan marathon, only 12 seconds after the best overall time. The Ningabasa marathon also had the first Talorenjin to be included in the best overall list: Koyane Kii did not do fantastic, but at least he is in the list. Another milestone is the first athlete to be included twice in the list: Loki Vanaheim from Arhoren now is both 5th and 6th overall. He did not beat his personal record set in Tangku, unfortunately.

The next marathon will be in Mayara, which will probably a lot colder than this event. The temperature of Ningabasa was around 27 degrees, and the expected temperature for next week's event in Mayara is between 0 and 5 degrees. After that, the athletes will leave Ko-oren to tour around the archipelago in four more marathons.

15 Avka Astronauts 30 7 5 18 19 42 −23 26
16 Tanuki Blizzards 30 4 6 20 18 49 −31 18

And here is the first Ice Hockey season in a long time! The teams have gotten a bit rusty apart from the lucky few that played in the CHL. Firstly, an overview of these four teams:

1. Sturng Scouts. They were in group C, a group that had three teams advance. Instead of three strong teams and the rest of the group being thrashed, there were actually four teams very close to advancing. Unfortunately, the Scouts were... fourth. They reached 10 points in 10 matches, and because of the system of 2 points for a win, and one for a draw, they were one victory short of the third place, which would have been enough to make it out of the group stage. In all aspects, they were just short of the third place: goal difference and points. Even the win/lose table shows that the Scouts had almost all points against the lower teams, and even some against higher teams, but in the end, it was not enough.
2. Othushun State Team, Group D. They advanced as the runner-up in their group, a group with two strong teams that left all other four teams behind them by some margin. Only one loss (and five victories, like the Scouts) is a very good record, and the only criticism to their group stage form could be that they conceded a little bit too much and should not have gone for the draw so often.
3. Ko-oren Capitals. They left all other teams behind, by a big margin! They finished on 7-3-0, so no losses and a large number of wins! Two of these draws were in home games against the two worst teams of this group, unfortunately. It could have been 9-1-0, but still, the six point gap between them and the runner-up means it was a very, very successful group stage for this team.
4. Iliju Internationals, Group J. This group had seven teams and therefore had the third placed team advance by default... and the Internationals made it to third place. This means three teams overall advanced, which is a great score for the sport in Ko-oren. They finished only two points behind the first placed team, but on the other hand, there were two teams below the Internationals that could have overtaken them with one victory, too.

Qualifying round: Half of the eventual round of 16 teams came from the qualifying round. The Internationals and Othushun played in this round, and luckily they both advanced. This means that in the round of 16, there are still three Ko-orenite sides competing, an amazing record! The Internationals beat EHC Timestream with a draw and a win, and Othushun won one and lost one against the Northern Pinnacles. The loss was by one goal, which meant the 2 goal difference win earlier was enough to advance them to the round of 16.

Round of 16: Two Ko-orenite teams sadly lost in this round. The Internationals went out over a one goal difference: 0-0 and 0-1, so this was not a lot of fun to watch for neutral fans. The Catalysts from Taeshan were luckier in this respect. The Othushun State Team went out against over a draw and a loss, too. The difference was one goal again, though the score was 2-2 and 2-3 (so eight goals more than the Internationals' games!) Ko-oren Capitals did do what they had to do, yet they needed a third match to decide. First, they lost 1-2. Then they won 1-0, and in the decisive third leg, the score was 2-1.

Quarterfinals: the Capitals lost in this round against a team featured earlier: Chihuahua Catalysts. The Taeshan team won the first game 3-0, and by this point, it was already a lost cause. The second leg ended 1-1 against a very defensive team.

This season, the Ko-oren Capitals again won the league. Sraltlur Ice made it in as runners-up, and newcomers Koryo (yes, from the country of Koryo) finished third, qualifying them for the CHL. The Othushun State Team beat Maethoru State by goal difference for the fourth place and a CHL spot! The differences between the top three teams were a lot bigger, with the Capitals finishing on a 14 points gap. The Internationals and the Scouts finished 8th and 10th, which means they were overtaken by more adventurous or daring teams, as these two teams were playing it safe to win another CHL year. The Blizzards were this year's worst team, finishing another 8 points behind the second-to-last team.

HCU took the championship, after a very good run at the WCHC! They got to the quarterfinals together with last year's champion (and this season's fourth team) KNU. They have qualified again for the next WCHC, together with ASUN and KCU, which means that once again two teams from Ko-oren City are in the top four.

Table of top four finishes per city and per region:

And the last marathon on Ko-orenite soil has been ended with a spectacular new record across all four marathons so far. Thaulin, who also ran for Ko-oren during the last Olympics, won with a time that was over two minutes faster than the previous best time! The cold of Mayara apparently only worked well for the athletes. Only four did not finish, too. The next marathon will be in Taloren, just south of Ko-oren.
