Possibly. I'll have to work this out.
Soooooooo... technically 18 people now. While the usual rule is that only about 50% to 66% are active at any given time, that's still 9-12 active people. Should be fun!

OK, almost all new people added to the front. One more guy is going to submit a new app, or so I've been assured. We're going to be experimenting with actual, instituted flights next op, so keep your eyes peeled.
Also, I put a front page link to Two Jersey's Personnel File formatting thing, so it's in an easy-to-find location. Much love to TJ for that.
And, of course, IC post under construction.

What the hell happened to the Frenchies? We had two, and none of them ever hung around. Meanwhile, we have 3 Dutchies, 3 Poles, and a Brazilian.
Straaaaaaaaaange.

I figured people would go for the standard nationals first. We've got no Aussies, no Canadians, no Frenchmen, and no Czechs, all of whom I were expecting to be a fairly strong presence.

This one is called Nostalgia.

March of 1967,

Pat's family Farm,

Louisville, KY..

Pat stood on the wing, looking proudly at his newest acquisition. He had gone all through Europe just to track down this special bird. His old Mark II Spitfire, which he had flown with Excalibur. He eyed across the ramp, at his private field, an old 109 that sat there, still clean and looking as fresh as the day he had stole in from Danzig. Yup, he had also managed to purchase "His" ME-109, having remembered the serial number.

After the RAF had gotten a hold of it, it was then transferred to Wright Pat AFB for the Foreign Technology "nerds" to test, along with the pilot's manual that Pat had stolen. Then it was released as surplus at the end of World War II. He had bought it for a good sum from a flying museum that was bankrupt.

Then, he had to find the Spitfire that he had flown in World War II. As he had married a wealthy heiress during World War II, the financial side of his "Museum" was not going to pose a problem. As recently the operations of Excalibur were declassified, Pat decided to start a museum on his private Air Field, dedicated to the exploits of Excalibur and other secret squadrons. Therefore, he could actually get more money to keep these birds that he had flown flying.

He shook his head out of his nostalgia, as he clambered into his Spit's cockpit. He shed a tear as he strapped in, remembering all the combat missions that he flew in this bird, and how it had faithfully gotten him literally through the deepest pits of hell and back. He was hoping within a few hours to have a round up of the surviving members of Excalibur, to have a reunion, similar to the Doolitle Raider's Reunion.

Finishing donning his flight helmet, and gloves (his squadron issued gear), and his pre-flight checklist, he closed the canopy and inched the throttle forward and felt a strange feeling in his stomach as he barreled down the runway, feeling a strange feeling of joy as he gently pulled back on the stick and raised the Spitfire into the air.

Meanwhile, on the ground, his 27 year old son James, named after his killed brother in arms, was completing his pre-flight preparations in the P-40, that Pat had flown earlier in the war, and also flew at Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. It was by chance that Pat had acquired it, having found it in the junkyard at Kingman AAF in Arizona. He immediately recognized some of the modifications that he had made whilst it had been in Excalibur service and purchased it.

James was now at the beginning of the runway and soon enough, he slammed the throttle forward and the P-40 soon roared down the runway and took off to join his father. He formed up on his Dad's wing and crackled over the radio "Just like old times eh Pops?" James, was now a F-4 pilot, soon going to be deployed to Ubon with the 555 TFS "Triple Nickel", but was on leave before his deployment.

As they flew together Pat replied "Son, this is. If only Captain Page, and the others were here, it would be Excalibur all over again." And as they flew around the countryside, Pat reminisced on his war time memories, and with his son at his side, it would only get better...

And IIRC Britain was backing Finland against the Soviet Union at the time and supplying arms to them, course then Finland decided to throw its lot in with Germany.

Meanwhile in the USSR: "Hey, let's offer military help to Nazi Germany."

Actually the Soviet Union helped Germany to crush Poland in exchange for roughly half the country.

Indeed. But that wasn't really helping. It was more like a "We do some stuff, you mop up later on."

Their base and stuff was joint-operations intended to help Germany against the west.

He actually should've took the frenchies advise when it comes to invading russian soil.

Sure it may be fun and easy at first...then the cruel mistress known as winter comes around, she ruins your life, ruins your plans and ruins your dreams of ( insert country here ) dominated Europe.

Winter: you cruel, cruel bitch.

The original plan was for the Barbarossa to go forward in April 1941, rather than June. It got shoved back because Mussolini felt ignored after all of Germany's successes and Italy's failures in Africa, so he had to go and invade Greece (and fuck it up so badly that the Germans had to waste time saving his ass, as not only were the Greeks holding out, they were actually invading Italian-held Albania).

Had it gone forward in April...rather than the offensive grinding out in the mud just short of Moscow in October/November, it would still have been August/September. Roads would still have been dry then, and it would still have been warm as well. Marshal Winter wouldn't have shown up in time.
