IRLCC (International Rugby League Challenge Cup)

This is the cutoff for team entries to the IRLCC.

Format: The Inaugral edition of IRLCC will run in a Cup/Bowl/Plate/Shield format. Because we have 16 teams, there will be four groups of four, drawn randomly. The top team from each group will advance into the Cup semi-finals. The second place side into the Bowl Semi-Finals, Third into the Plate Semi Finals, and the bottom place team into the Shield competition. In each Semi/Finals, there will b bot a final and a Consolation match (like a 3PPO) to give definitive rankings after the tournament, from 1-16.

For scorination, I will use Rugby League function on Xkoranate using the Footba11er formula. The only given rankings will be a small 0.2 point bonus for those who were seeded as th first team from their nation.

A few notes on procedure:
With 44 teams submitted from eleven leagues, a single qualifying round was required. Those leagues that had previously submitted teams had their top two qualified teams invited straight to the group stages with a bye, for the Tynealan league RFC Moulton replaced the second seeds Twigham Wasps' bye thanks to being the current RUCT holders. The two leagues that hadn't previously submitted teams were invited to send their league champions straight to the group stage. With twenty teams awarded byes, that left twenty-four to play a single knockout qualifying round, which was randomly drawn with no team from the same league allowed to play another. The twelve winners of this round then joined the twenty byes in the group stage. For the Group Stage, teams were seeded by rank, and then randomly drawn, with no two teams from the same league permitted in the same group.

The draw for the Round of Sixteen was drawn randomly so every runner-up played a group winner, with no two teams from the same league permitted to play each other. The remaining rounds were drawn randomly.

- Only three nations have taken part in every single cycle - Darmen, Polar Islandstates, and The Kiaser Colonies.

- Of the teams from these nations, seven teams have qualified for the RUCT Seasogs Championship every single cycle - Brady City Sharks, Darmen City Wasps, and Scott City AC from Darmen; Citizens RFC and Northbrook Harlequins from Polar Islandstates, and New Sydney Waratahs and Watson's Bay RFC from The Kiaser Colonies.

- Civil Citizenry is the only nation to have had two different teams lift the trophy; Reps-Baker, and Janwick Bloodhounds. Curiously enough, these were in consecutive seasons, making Civil Citizenry the only nation to see their teams collectively retain the trophy.

- Montbenoit Old Boys, of Saugeais, are the only individual team to have won the trophy more than once, lifting the trophy in two of their three final appearances.

- Citizens RFC, of Polar Islandstates, are the only team to have reached consecutive finals. Losing both finals I and II, they are therefore also the only team to have lost consecutive finals. They are also the team to have contested the most finals, with four, despite only winning once.

- Citizens RFC and Northbrook Harlequins, both of Polar Islandstates, are the only teams to have contested a final between two teams of the same nation, final VII. This marks the only time a team from Polar Islandstates has ever won the trophy, meaning that teams from there have never beaten foreign opposition in a final.

- Teams from Polar Islandstates have been the runner-up in a combined total of five times, a record. (Citizens RFC three times and Northbrook Harlequins twice). Teams from The Kiaser Colonies, New Sydney Waratahs to be precise, are next in that particular list, having been runner-up twice.

- A massive 218 teams have contested the RUCT Seasogs Championship, 150 of which are currently ranked.

- A staggering 32 leagues have at one point or another submitted their teams for contention.

Entrance is now open for the eleventh edition of the RUCT Seasogs Championship, look for an update/confirmation later on, but the deadline is provisionally set to MIDDAY (GMT) on SUNDAY 9th DECEMBER.

The Big Four continued their domination of the League, with Scott City AC claiming their fifth title, and first in six seasons. The Blues from Rogerton had a terrible time, losing every single match, and averaging only three points per game. On Matchday Sixteen, Tim City AC registered one of the largest wins ever witnessed in Darmeni Rugby, a 52-3 win over the Sterling City Chiefs. Matchday Twenty saw Scott City AC register a 66-0 win over the Eric City Warriors. And on the final day of the season, the Darmen City Wasps defeated the Leicester Square Falcons, 41-0.

Despite finishing level on points, the Bryxen City Tigers were promoted on virtue of a superior goal differential. The Bloomer Citiz were involved in two different high scoring matches, one, a 50-10 victory over last place Perry-Rupai Titans on Matchday Twelve, and a 44-0 loss to eventual champions Bryxen City. The loss didn't deter the Citiz though, as on Matchday Twenty-one, they defeated Rotenboden by the score of 40-3. On that same day, Liverpool Cotdelapomais defeated Brhamania, 48-7.

Riverside County become the most adorned club
Previously tied with Los Angeles County for two championships, Riverside smashed the Angelenos at home by 21 points in the semifinals to ensure the honor wouldn't be contested. When they endured Santa Barbara and outscored them by 11 points in extra time to win the Grand Final, Riverside County became the first club to win three FRU championships. The other former champion not yet mentioned, San Luis Obispo County, struggled to stay afloat in the standings this season. Manager Najay Ramirez has reportedly received an offer for some sort of coaching job at the Federal Team, but is expected to turn it down and take the job security at Riverside. At the home side, Mr. Ramirez's contract is automatically renewed when they win a championship, and considering he is the most successful manager in the federation's young history, the upcoming vote in Riverside County's Football Assembly to offer to extend it by another year (to cover at least 2 campaigns) is considered a formality in the bulk of editorials and letters in the county. As of yet, there is no word as to whether Mr. Ramirez would accept the extension, or even ask for a longer commitment. It is not known whether he prefers to build a club dynasty or coach in the World Cup in the long run. The Football Assembly is also weighing several referenda to offer long-term contracts to several key players, an unusual move in the Federation that would protect them from changes in management and allow those who are residency-qualified players to live in another county and still play for the team.

Heads roll in Los Angeles County after disappointing campaign
The press's preseason favorites, the Angelenos were considered shoo-ins after pushing their way in to the playoff zone on Week 7 and holding position for the next 11 weeks. However, they were humiliated in the playoffs, first being routed 24-3 at Riverside and then by the same margin and the score 31-10 at San Diego, and they missed RUCT entry entirely. The Los Angeles County Assembly's FRU Executive Board expressed their frustration by firing manager Frank Eden, whose accomplishments as two-time People's Cup champion are not expected to go unnoticed as he looks for a role elsewhere. He is expected to receive other job offers in the game, and has said he would entertain a coaching offer on the Federal Team or a managing role on a domestic club, and implied that he could be persuaded to move abroad as well. Implications for the players are unclear, but some prospective candidates have hinted that they would propose overturning the roster.

Dramatic recovery for San Diego County
Manager Ana Velazquez has been celebrated in the southern press for turning around the team that suffered most from the talent drain in rugby union. Formerly considered so hopeless that the San Diego Shield was organized to give the county a chance to participate in RUCT, now the county side is going as the third-place team after drubbing Los Angeles County by 21 points at home. In an unusual move, the match was held in the small coastal city of Encinitas to celebrate that side's victory in the San Diego Shield. Ms. Velazquez has implied that she is ready to build on her success in interviews, but has refused to confirm or deny interest in the top spot at Los Angeles County. LACA's FRU Executive Board has yet to consider offering her a job, but are expected to debate the question at their upcoming meeting. Mr. Eden has not been ruled out in San Diego by any means, so the two largest counties could see a bizarre manager-swap, although Encinitas are expected to consider a counter-offer in their City Assembly if it comes to that (which would have the same result).

Santa Barbara County quickly extends contracts
Pleased with their side securing the second RUCT seed after a strong campaign and holding the now-three-time-champions Riverside Co to an extra-time battle in the Grand Final, the all-encompassing Sports Personnel Council of the Santa Barbara County Assembly moved quickly to rehire the whole staff and most starting players for next season. The seventh campaign is considered winnable in Santa Barbara, and the county seems to think it can be achieved with the same people steering the ship.

Federal Football Assembly will vote on a Rugby League
With the success of the international challenge cup in rugby league, a referendum has been raised to organize a Federal Rugby League. The Football Assembly is not scheduled to meet again until the end of the RLWC11 group stage, so that is the earliest time that the league could be organized by the federation itself. With the idea being debated in the public, a league may actually be organized by private action before the FA can get around to it.
