Another question related to that, out of curiosity. Does the same happen with the events that were not contested in Vancouver 2010 but will be in Sochi 2014?

It does, yes.

As we have said many times in the past, as long as you do not refer to it as an Olympics, or suggest there is a link to this event, it's none of our concern.

Though technically speaking there isn't actually a bid window – bids are welcome at any time.

I (or Krytenia if/when he returns) will probably look for bids to be ready by mid-December at the latest, however.

OK, calm down. It's only just November, and as I said earlier in this thread, I'm expecting host bids up until about a week or two before Christmas.

That's six weeks, people. Chill.

That would not happen. Ever.

Eighth Winter Olympics Hosting Bid by Qazox

Postby Qazox » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:01 pm

Image

About the Bidding Cities:

Gothika and St. Nash are located in the Northeastern part of Qazox, in the Estabian Mountain Range. Gothika (2010 population: 94,036) is located on Mount Sebastian and is 6,279 ft above sea level. St. Nash (2010 population: 367,045) is located 15 miles southwest of Gothika at the foot the Bradlee hills and is 2,589 ft above sea level. The two cities have multiple regional rail, bus and highway systems that connect the two cities. For the Olympics, a dedicated high-speed rail line will connect the two cities. St. Nash International Airport (SNH), located 3.5 miles west of St. Nash is the 5th largest Airport in Qazox and will handle the majority of international travel concerns. SaxerVilla International Airport (SXV) located near the City of SaxerVilla, 183 miles southeast of St. Nash; will be made availible if needed for any addtional international travel requirements as the next closest international airport. High-speed rail connects Saxervilla and St. Nash, and would take about 35-40 minutes to travel between the two cities.

Both cities will have an Athlete's village, hosting the athletes scheduled to compete in each city; though exceptions will be allowed upon national federation request. The longest distance between any two venues will be 28 miles between the Saint Nash Forum and the Griffin Air Base annex. Within St. Nash, all venues are within a 4 mile radius of downtown St. Nash. Within Gothika, the venues range from 2 miles away from downtown (Monterio Ski Resort) and 11 miles away (Griffin Air Base annex). St. Nash will host the main International Broadcast Center, while Gothika will have local broadcast facilities as well.

About the Venues:
St. Nash will host the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at Godfrey O'Bannion Stadium, (Capacity: 52,945); and the following events: Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton (Bradlee Olympic Sliding Track); Curling (Derrick J. Donovan Center); Figure Skating (Camilla R. Brown-Stills Auditorium); Short-track Speed Skating (Eric Dalton Arena); SpeedSkating (O'Bannion Stadium) and the Women's portion of Ice Hockey at Saint Nash Forum.

Gothika will host the following events: Alpine Skiing (Monterio Ski Resort); Biathlon, Cross-country skiing and Nordic combined (cross-country skiing) (Griffin Air Base annex); Freestyle Skiing, Snowboarding, Ski jumping and Nordic combined (ski jumping) (Norway Pines Ski Resort) and the Men's portion of Ice hockey at Gothika Centre.

About the Country:
Qazox has a long sporting history spanning over 125 years and Qazox is the only nation to have participated in every NS Olympic Games. Historically, Qazox has faired better during the Winter Games than the Summer Games; and as such, believe that a Winter Olympic Games hosting would be more fitting for the natiom. They have hosted multi-national events before, most recently the 23rd edition of the World Baseball Classic. In terms of mulit-sports events, Qazox did host 2 editions of the NS X-Games and the only winter NS X-Games, and a Qazoxian Sports Festival.

Rules/Regulations in Qazox:
Qazox has one of the most liberal socities in the world, although there is a pervasive police force. Nudity is no longer encouraged in Qazox, though there are discrete locales where it is fully acceptable. Only marijuana use is legal in Qazox in terms of drugs, and the drinking age is 19.

About the Bid Logo:
The Olympic Estoile is superimposed by a Stylized Q, reminiscent of the national flag, and colored Silver as a reminder that the area was once the Largest silver producing part of Qazox.

Bid Specifics:
There is two sets of dates Qazox is looking at to host the Games, both lasting 27 days. The First set will be February 5th to March 4th, 2013 and the second set would be February 9th to March 8th, 2013. Either way, there will be ONE scorination per day, estimated to be posted between 1:00 and 2:00 am EST. Qazox will not host any demonstration events, but will encourage others to do so if they so wish. The Most-up-to Date version of Xkorante (currently 3.3) will be used. Each nation can enter ONE main nation and ONE puppet nation; with the combined delegation from BOTH master and puppet not to exceed 300 entries. A solo entry will be limited to 200 entries. The average delegation rating CANNOT EXCEED 50.00 as the rating system to be used will be from 0-100. Any such delegations will be asked to re-rate their delegation. If by 48 hours before the first scorination, a delegation has not re-rated an excessive combined rating then I reserve the right to reduce any portion of their delegation until they are at 50.00 or less. <EDIT in, 'cause I forgot>: RP bonus- each nation that posts a roster will recieve the same basic RP bonus; with additional bonuses awarded to RPing nations each day they RP.

I will include the newly added events to the RL 2014 Sochi Games (Figure skating team event, Women's ski jumping, Mixed relay biathlon, Ski half-pipe, Team relay luge, Snowboard slopestyle, and Snowboard parallel special slalom) in this bid.

IC questions
1. What's the legacy of the bid/event?
2. In the given case the assistance of the SaxerVilla International Airport is needed, how would transport be held in those 183 miles?
3. Is there any possibility we're short of snow during the Olympics? If so, what measures would be taken?
4. How does the process of visas and permits work for foreigners? (Press, Athletes, Coaches, etc.)
5. Are there any venues for Media? How will the Media accreditation process work?

OOC questions
1. Is there a link with more information about Qazox?
2. Why should "Figure skating team event, Women's ski jumping, Mixed relay biathlon, Ski half-pipe, Team relay luge, Snowboard slopestyle, and Snowboard parallel special slalom" be included if they haven't been contested IRL yet?
3. How will scorination work for the above?
4. How will RP bonus work? (Any limitations, gifts, etc.?)

In Order:

#1- If xkoranate doesn't have those events added to it by the time the games start; I will use the closest applicable event to scorinate them. (ie: Snowboarding half-pipe for ski half-pipe; Men's ski jumping for Women's ski jumping). The Figure Skating team and Luge Team relay are easy, as they'd just involve the best times/scores from each individual event in each disicipline (which would be simmed separately from the individual/pairs competitions).

#2- I would if I knew how to, as I don't try to tinker with the sport files, as I'm not that confident in my ability to do so. So I just use the "basic" version, so there'd really not be anything that would need approval, as it's already a part of xkoranate.

#3/4- We've not yet offically stated or voted upon whether or not we would use the same events as the 2014 Winter Games or if we would use the 2010 Winter Games events instead. Which is something I brought up earlier this year. And other than CH stating that one could tinker with the sport files, there had not been any response or disscussion about it. I would like to continue our tradition of keeping as close to the RL Olympics as possible.

You're quite mistaken there – see Krytenia's post and my post about Summer events relating to that. The events will not be added to the base list while he is President and I am vice-President until they actually occur. So yeah, check your facts before presenting them as accurate in a bid. It might help.

IC questions:
#1- The Legacy? That Qazox hosted an Olympics.
#2- There's a high-speed rail link between SaxerVilla and St. Nash.
#3a- No, the region averages 68.5" of snow a season; and the average high temperatures during the time period are in the 28oF-36oF.
#3b- If needed, snow can be transported in from the Graverville region (about 75 mile west), an region in Qazox that has RL Minnesota-type weathers.
#4- Qazox doesn't require visas.
#5- The International Media Center will be located in St. Nash, with broadcasting facilities in Gothika as well.

OOC questions:
#1- I have a link in my signature.
#2/3- Addressed in my response to Liventia.
#4- I will add that to my bid later tonight.

I stand corrected on the no discussion since my question, but according to your own post:
A prospective host may, if he declares such in his bid, include both sports as medal events.

I assumed that response would be applicable to the Winter Games as well, or am I being mistaken?

Thank you for your response. And about this question.... I was looking for an IC deeper view about the subject.

Have you ever watched a RL Olympic Bid? Legacy's a very important part. It's not just about "We'll host and that's great"; it's about the real meaning of the event. It's not like "we'll do it 'cause we want"... Not that shallow.

Then answer this, "What's good in Qazox hosting an Olympics? (Environmentally, socially, economically, etc.)"
