FSS Loses Terribly, Buts Blame on Turtles
"Yeah man," says Maddie Kytle, defender for the team. "The entire team just kept on seeing turtles on the pitch. Once there was even a mama turtle leading a bunch of baby turtles around and I had to dribble around them. That's why we lost man! It was the turtles I tell you!" Surprisingly, no one else besides Kytle noticed these turtles during the FSS's 1-4 loss to Lerudo the other day. Even his own teammate, Nicholas Jayet, said, "Yeah.... that's the last time we're letting Maddie have shrooms before a game..."

Maxopolis Times: Decent start in the Copa Gaveo II

The Max Empire roars into the Copa Gaveo II with a decent 1-0 against Bering in our first game. Our next game is against Slembana, a team we defeated to win the Friendly Cup II. A victory is obiously expected by most of The Max Empire's citizens. Coach Opoloxonite has, however, still ordered the team to extra training. After the match the team will take a small tour of Gaveo's capital city.

" We are really glad to be here." sais one of the players. " The people here are really nice compared to the people back in the Empire."

The team is ready although a little extra training never hurts.

The Max Empire eagerly awaits the day of the match.

The Slembana Times: Awful start to Copa Gaveo defence

By Peter Whiteman, chief football reporter at the Estadio Cadiz, Cadiz, Gaveo (attendance 109,543)

We have got off to a terrible start in our quest to defend our Copa Gaveo title - losing 1-0 to Amelio in our first game of the tournament. Even the Amelians were shocked at their own win.

We had two great chances to score in the first minute of the match. First, Val Kylx hit the crossbar, before Eddie Barlow saw a shot saved by Amelian goalkeeper Terry King. After that, both teams were equally as dominant, with both teams being denied by the other's goalkeeper.

However, right at the end, Sebastian Bugatti of Amelio was brought down by captain Gavin Stockwell, and it was a penalty to the underdogs of Amelio. Javier Fenzo scored the penalty to send the Amelian fans bananas. Our fans and players were shell-shocked at losing. We were sure we were going to win, but we somehow hadn't. Our players were booed off the pitch at the end.

Our next match is against Max empire, who beat us in the final of the Friendly Cup a year ago*. If Max empire win and Amelio beat Bering, we will be out. The citizens of Max empire are expecting a win, but we'll beat them and prove them wrong!

*OOC: This tournament is taking place in September 2013 Slembanan time.

The Slembana Times: Apology for error

By Dean Hándëll, football reporter

We apologize for the error posted earlier on today on the match report on our shock 1-0 loss to Amelio. Chief football reporter Peter Whiteman said that if we lost our next game and Amelio won their next game we would be out. However, this is not right, as hosts Gaveo told us that we would not necessarily be out if we lost our next game and Amelio won theirs. We may still be able to go through to the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-placed teams. Peter obviously forgot that there was 12 teams in the tournament, not 16. Peter and the rest of the crew apologize for this error.

Gaveo 2, Super-Llamaland 1.

In a tough matchup with the tourney hosts, our very-own Llamas lost 2-1. Cadio scored twice early for the opposing side against Tyson DeJesus. However, DeJesus recovered to make several good saves and finish the game.

The lone free-kick goal was by "Captain Trevor" Duncan, AKA Captain Trevor Duncan. Not the best of nicknames.

After the game, Duncan said: "That was a tough lost, although we still have a good chance. Let's go Llamas!"

DeJesus: "All my fault. Cadio's a tough striker."

Kintratar Loses to Super Llamaland, Shakes it off

The Kintrans were fine, after the loss, after all, this was the debut for Kintratar soccer. The Kintrans will make the tournament with a win and a Super-Llamaland draw or loss OR a Kintran draw and a Super-Llamaland loss, so The Kintrans will have a good chance to make the playoffs.

Win

Postby Gaveo » Sat Sep 15, 2012 12:59 pm

Boyznichw 0-1 Gaveo, that was the result of the second match, Sebastian Cadiz (again) scores another goal this time by a free kick. Gaveo looks increasingly ready as Gaveo wins another game and the U-20 teams wins in the friendly cup. Gaveo has 6 points and has a stranglehold on Group A as they qualify for the next round. Gaveo faces Kintrastar and we hope to win! LETS GO GOLDEN EAGLES!!!

Maxopolis Times: A draw is better then a win.

The Max Empire has tied with Slembana. A tie is better then a win. The recent uprisings in the Max Empire, leave no news left to be delivered. The National Sports Leauge has collapsed and massive protests have formed across the nation, due to the failure of The Maxian team at the Friendly Cup III. Coach Opoloxonite hopes this has no influence on the teams performence.

The Slembana Times: Hopes of advancing in Copa Gaveo hang by thread

By Peter Whiteman, chief football reporter at the Estadio Cadiz, Cadiz, Gaveo (attendance 107,321)

Our hopes of advancing to the quarter-finals of the second Copa Gaveo - and thus continuing our defence of the tournament we won last year - are hanging by a thread, after we drew 2-2 with Max empire in our second Group C game. We are still in with a chance, though, of advancing the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams. Our last game is against Bering - if we manage to win, we may go into the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams. Bering have lost both of their games so far, scoring none and conceding five. However, even if we win, we might not be going into the quarter-finals as one of the best third-placed teams. Anyway, let's get on with the match itself, as this is a pretty long intro.

We took the lead after 24 seconds, with Val Kylx receiving a great pass from Jyvx Dagens. Kylx then slipped under Max empire's goalkeeper, Kaylontor Herplamant, to score, giving us a 1-0 lead and sending our fans wild. After Kylx and Merolanton Mertaloxkon came close for us and Max empire, respectively, we made it 2-0 on 28 minutes, with Yuppë Tárnix's cross being headed home at the front post by Eddie Barlow. Mertaloxkon, Jaquers Opal, and Splontwer Yuvnor all came close for Max empire before the half-time whistle sounded, ending a very satisfactory first half for us.

Kylx, Barlow, and Finlay Yalnif came close for us at the start of the second half, while Mertaloxkon, Opal, and Lenbar Xandarx came close for Max empire at the start of the second half. We had a penalty claim controversially turned down in the 65th minutes, with replays clearly showing that Danelterop XXanndaaroppoxx had clearly brought down Kylx.

As stoppage time began, Max empire gave themselves hope, with Opal heading home a corner from Gelato Welpratan. Then, in the last minute, a cross from Xandarx found Mertaloxkon, who volleyed home to send the Maxian fans wild, levelling the game right at the death.

This Could Be It For the FSS
The Swiss team, having come second in the last tournament may now not even qualify for the elimination stage. After a loss and a draw, the FSS is riding a low third in their group rankings. With a terrible Goal Difference, their only hope is that Estope and Leorudo NOT tie in their next game. If one of the two teams is to lose, and the FSS manages to beat Royal Brittania, they would advance. Says coach Jonah Nizzy, "I know our players can do it. We have to. We'll focus on the elimination stage when it comes. It's all about the game tomorrow."

Another win?

Postby Amelio » Sat Sep 15, 2012 1:51 pm

Bering 0-4 Amelio, another win! This time our Sebastian Bugatti and Javier Fenzo scored 2 goals each in a shutout of Bering we have the lead Group B with 6 point and also we are the surprise of the tournament our last game of the group round is versus the Max Empire in Estadio Cadiz fighting for the first place spot. Hopefully we win the game and the tournament! *ahem* here is what Coach Fabio Conzelli had to say about the win, "Wow, just wow we are doing well our morale is higher than ever and we actually think we can win this. Let go Amelio!" This is Bugiato Romani for Football Channel Amelio good bye.

Kintratar qualifies for playoffs, fans party all night

Kintratar drawed against Gaveo, but that was enough to win a spot to the playoffs. The Kintran team was amazed that Boyznichw still won, but it wasn't enough. After the game, coach said, "We're just happy to be here in Gaveo for the debut of Kintran soccer," The players couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the final standings. Kintratar takes on Amelio tomorrow.

The only score on Kintratar's side was Netya Kooa kicking off the left goal post bouncing in @ minute 78, sending every Kintran screaming, the bordering nation of Kintratar heard "a seagull sounding" because Yelan, near the border and that it's the second most populated city in Kintratar, so it was THAT loud. This has now turned into a "where were you at this time" moment.

The Slembana Times: Just made it through!

By Peter Whiteman, chief football reporter at the Estadio Nacional de Gaveo, Chano, Gaveo (attendance 79,654)

We have just managed to sneak in the quarter-finals of the second Copa Gaveo - beating Bering 2-1 to qualify for the knockout stages as one of the best third-placed teams. This means that we will continue our quest to successfully defend our Copa Gaveo title we won last year.

We got off to an excellent start, with Val Kylx opening the scoring after just 50 seconds on the clock. Jyvx Dagens played a great through ball to Kylx, who curled past Bering's goalkeeper, Roland Zhdanov. We almost made it 2-0 in the 3rd minute, only for Finlay Yalnif's thunderbolt to hit the crossbar. Bering had their first major chance in the 5th minute, with star striker Ivan Aksenov seeing a bicycle kick tipped over the crossbar by our goalkeeper, Toby Gapman. Eddie Barlow hit the post in the 10th minute, but 23 minutes later, Bering equalized.

Andreas Braun received the ball from Budail Mahmud Boulos. Braun played the ball back to Boulos, who ran down the middle, prancing past Follin Maxet, before lobbing the ball over our captain, Gavin Stockwell. The ball found Tim Mahler, Bering's other striker, who volleyed home to level the game at 1-1. We almost restored our lead in the 43rd minute, with a Dagens curler hitting the post from 20 yards.

We got off to a near-perfect start to the second half, with a Kylx header hitting the post in the 46th minute. Yalnif, Barlow, Dagens, and Yuppë Tárnix also came close for us, as we were dominating. Our dominance finally paid off in the last minute, when Tárnix hit the post with a free-kick. However, the ball found its way to Barlow, who skipped past Alexander Schuster, before chipping the ball beautifully over Zhdanov to score, making the game 2-1, and sending our fans wild.

FSS Barely Through
The Swiss team barely qualified, only making it through on the "best-third" rule. Ironically, the last cup's champions, Slembana, also qualified on this rule, meaning that both the former first-place and second-place teams had almost been knocked out in group stage. The FSS has a hard match ahead of them in the form of the Max Empire, winner of the 2nd Friendly Cup. It could easily be the least game they play in this tournament.

Gaveo Draws

Postby Gaveo » Sun Sep 16, 2012 12:33 pm

Kintrastar 1-1 Gaveo, that was the result for the last game of the group stage of Copa Gaveo II though it was a tie Gaveo qualified for the final round leading Group A with 7 points. Sebastian Cadiz scored his third goal of the tournament and the 6 minute mark while Kintratari scored at the 78th minute. The game was hard fought and Kintrastar proved to be a challenge to the national team, nonetheless we qualified comfortably unlike Slembana and Free Swiss States which barely qualified due to the third place rule. Gaveo faces Leorudo in the final 8 match in Estadio San Jorge at 3 o'clock Gaveoan time. Hopefully Gaveo faces Slembana in the semi-finals ( ) to get revenge after the close loss in Copa Gaveo I. VAMOS GAVEO!!!

First Loss

Postby Amelio » Sun Sep 16, 2012 1:11 pm

ME 1-0 AME fans leave saddened but happy that they made it through the group stage getting a surprising 6 points beating champions Slembana and beating the winless Bering. Amelio started off strong but was eventually over taken by the Maxians by pure strength and the Max Empire scored their first goal on the 56th minute, Amelio tried to respond but was shut out for the rest of the game. Although the Max Empire was dominant for the second half their was a glimmer of hope when Sebastian Buggati almost scored the equalizer with a free kick. and when the whistle blew for the last time Amelion fans celebrated despite the loss when they found out they qualified for the final round. Tomorrow we face Kintrastar which tied with Gaveo 1-1, hopefully we can beat them and place in the Copa Gaveo. Lets go Amelio!

DEJESUS AND RUSHMORE SPARKLE IN MUCH NEEDED WIN
