FUBAR (Football Union for Babbage Rugby) Select League
Season Tables

FUBAR was founded in an afternoon of heavily-lubricated conviviality by representatives of three semi-organised rugby groups at Ensign Peak Military Academy, Zion Financial, and the Rugbeo-Klubo Internacia (RKI). They applied to a Six Nations tournament and acquitted themselves well despite glaring inexperience. Undaunted, they continued to play the game they loved, and soon several inquiries were put by a hodgepodge of would-be organisers. Over the course of time nine groups from South Island and one from Verne demonstrated enough staying power to consider league play. And the FUBAR Select League was born, later growing to twelve teams from four of the seven islands.

The founding sides are all from metropolitan Charleston. They were first joined by a ClearCola corporate fifteen from Wye and a school team from Fachhochschule Uchtdorf in the Wye suburbs. With a sound core in the nation's two largest metroplexes, the league then cast its nets wider. Grokworks from Chapel Hill provided a third corporate outfit, Berkley University at Boulder brought more collegians including the best cheerleaders, Zarahemla All-Sport from outside Three Rivers fielded another travelling club, and the Sons of Helaman RC in Nephi developed from a ragtag mob of teens into, well, an older and more proficient ragtag mob of mostly returned missionaries. Finally, St. Valentine's University from Urbana, Verne elbowed their way in by simply touring South Island and beating Ensign Peak, FH Uchtdorf, and Berkley in successive away matches. A later expansion brought in Gernsback RFC from the nation's second-largest city and Ryfelwyr from football-crazed Cardiff.

Despite the presence of three corporate groups, a sport club once in the first hundred of world association football, and a couple of colleges with decent athletics budgets, FUBAR have maintained a quasi-amateur stance in the best traditions of rugby union. Will it last? As long as it needs to.

Tables

The FUBAR Select League tables are third on a multi-sport results page following the results for association football and Babbage code.

RUCT Seasogs Championship: ClearCola, Grokworks, Gernsback RFC, Ensign Peak Military Academy.

About TSP Super 20 Rugby League

The TSP Super 20 is the premier sporting league in The Scout Promise. Founded as the Tri-Nations Rugby League by six clubs from three lands, it has expanded in recent years to include 20 sides from 12 nations. Super 20 plays rugby league, although several clubs also field separate union fifteens. Representatives of the league are invited to the RUCT Seasogs Championship notwithstanding the differences in customary code.

The founding clubs were Bountiful and Winterhaven from Green Jello Salad, Glomsteg and Pasgarmises from 84733842, and Bickerton and Hyde Park from SarahRed-n-BarryBlue.

Falconear Rugby Union Season Four

Postby Falconear » Sat Jul 28, 2012 10:41 pm

There is a bit of a problem going on with Falconear Rugby. Teams are folding, other teams are springing up, and in order to accommodate it all, a formatting change was made.

Starting this season, there will be twenty-four teams in one conference who will play each other twice in a double round robin. The top eight will advance to the playoffs for a spot in the Seasogs championships.

The Icemark Rugby Union Season III

Postby The Icemark » Fri Aug 10, 2012 2:22 pm

Despite controlling the league for half the season Inglesby dropped away, and Bendis went onto claim the league title in a frantic back-and-forth final six weeks. Bendis wouldn't win the championship proper though as they would fall to eventual champions Frostmarris in the play-off semi finals. Frostmarris would defeat Learton in the Play-off final for the second consecutive season.Learton would have something to cheer about after missing out though as they would go on to claim The Icemark Shield knock-out competition, defeating Barrowby in the final. Frostmarris would turn out to be the stand-out performers in the Seasogs championships making it to the round of sixteen.

After a lengthy absence, the Croix Bleue Premiership is back!

Image

Lots of new clubs, but the top two are old favourites- Newport Ghosts finishing 4 points ahead of Worcester Distillers. RFC Montréal deserves some respect for finishing 8th, a solid 7 points up up last place Outremont, despite scoring 140 fewer points than they conceded. Montréal did earn a big victory against Newport, which in true Montréal fashion was then commemorated in a series of special magazines and collectible coins.

The nation of Aels has a three-tier professional rugby union system, made up of 18 teams. There are six Aelsh teams in each tier, although only tiers two and three — the ARU ChocoMilk Premier League and the ARU First League — are fully sanctioned by the Aels Rugby Union. The top flight, which also features four teams from Ancharmunn, is the Tynealan Unification League, and co-sanctioned by the Charmunnry union federation.

The top two teams in the Premier League are promoted to the Tynealan joint league, while the bottom team is relegated to the First League. Four points are awarded for a win and two for a draw, with one bonus point awarded for every match lost by 7 points or less. However, bonus points are not added to the final points total, and are only used in tiebreaking situations. Teams play each other four times. Ties are broken by head-to-head results, followed by the number of bonus points, then points difference.

Results from the 1093 season (Tynealan calendar):

ChocoMilk Premier League Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 Harling 20 13 1 6 241 201 +40 54 PRO
2 Caerfremin 20 12 1 7 329 287 +42 50 PRO
3 Goldcliff Rugby Union 20 9 1 10 219 307 −88 38
4 Cramlingdale Falcons 20 9 0 11 253 252 +1 36
5 RFC Treuddyn 20 8 0 12 259 311 −52 32
6 Llanislwyn Firestone 20 7 1 12 279 222 +57 30 REL

ARU First League Pld W D L PF PA PD Pts
1 Cowdenton Irish 20 12 0 8 262 238 +24 48 PRO
2 Hadcott 20 11 0 9 260 239 +21 44
3 Pontyport 20 11 0 9 295 274 +21 44
4 Woodfordton Stallions 20 9 1 10 263 325 −62 38
5 Fishwick Mariners 20 9 1 10 304 268 +36 38
6 Penfro Rugby 20 6 2 12 272 312 −40 28

So Harling, just down from the top flight, earn an immediate trip back to the big time by winning the Premier League. Second-placed Caerfremin made up for a disappointing season last year to go up by a clear 12 points. MEanwhile RFC Treuddyn, newly up into the second tier, avoid relegation as Llanislwyn Firestone suffer a second straight relegation.

From the 1095 season four new teams will be included, meaning for this season while just one team was relegated from the Premier League, three were promoted from the First League. The top two teams in the Premier League are promoted to the Tynealan joint league. Four points are awarded for a win and two for a draw, with one bonus point awarded for every match lost by 7 points or less. 1094 Tynealan Unification League

The Tynealan Unification League is the top level of rugby union competition in the Celtic Union of Tyneala (ie: Aels and Ancharmunn). As the only four professional rugby union clubs in Ancharmunn the provincial sides of Dyary, Machairster and Slievester along with the side representing the capital city Ballyfeeaknock will remain constants in the league. The two lowest placed Aelsh sides however are relegated to the Aelsh Rugby Union Premier League. At the top end of the table the top three clubs qualify for the championship playoffs, with the first placed team qualifying directly for the final and having home advantage for that match. The second placed team hosts the third placed team in the semi-final with the winner progressing to the final.

A few notes on procedure: (OOC: Sorry for how long this took today, blame RL things)
With 56 teams submitted from fourteen leagues, a preliminary round was required as well as a qualification round. Reigning champions Citizen RFC were awarded a bye to the Group Stage, along with the winners of the eleven leagues that submitted teams last season. The bottom two qualifiers from the three leagues that didn't submit last season into the preliminary round, along with the bottom two qualifiers from Polar Islandstates (on account of both the top two Polarian qualifiers gaining a bye), the draw being randomised. The four winners of these matches joined the remaining teams without byes in the final qualifying round, which was again randomly drawn with no team from the same league allowed to play another. The twenty winners of this round then joined the twelve byes in the group stage. For the Group Stage, teams were seeded by rank, and then randomly drawn, with no two teams from the same league permitted in the same group.

The draw for the Round of Sixteen was drawn randomly so every runner-up played a group winner, with no two teams from the same league permitted to play each other. The remaining rounds were drawn randomly.

Congratulations to Montbenoit Old Boys, who win the Seasogs Championship, continuing two Seasogs traditions as they do so. The first, that they were beaten finalists in the past, and second, that the team that knocks out the holders goes on to lift the title themselves. They are the first team from Saugeais to win the trophy, and become the first team to qualify for the next edition as a result of this win. Let's hope the next edition is just as exciting.

In addition to Rugby Union Season 4, the second San Diego Shield tournament will also be contested to determine the fourth and final RUCT seed from South Califas. This was done out of respect for San Diego rugby heritage, given that most of the league's players and coaches come from San Diego County and the talent-drain has left the SDC team out of any serious competition for a RUCT spot three years running. However, if San Diego County earns a RUCT spot through league play, they will be awarded the Shield. The tournament will be played regardless, to select a side that will replace the county team with the worst record from this year.

As for the union, Kern and Los Angeles Counties are the split favorites after showing their mettle in all three campaigns. Last season, Kern County became the first South Califas team to advance past the RUCT group stage into the octofinals.

There is an important rule change to report: teams will now earn 1 point for a victory of over 7 points, or a loss of under 7 points.
Let the games begin!

FUBAR (Football Union for Babbage Rugby) Select League

They're amateurs in an increasingly-professional world. One-fourth of the league is still from the same metroplex. Three of the seven Babbage Islands don't even have a team, and three others have but one team each.

And yet FUBAR lives on, sending their "select league" representatives to get thrashed by their betters at each new Seasogs tournament. Rugby union may eventually take hold here, but it will be quite the slog along the way.

Latest Tables

The FUBAR Select League tables are third on a multi-sport results page following the results for association football and Babbage code.

RUCT Seasogs Championship: Ryfelwyr, St. Valentine's University, Ensign Peak Military Academy, Berkley University.
NS World Cup: Runner-up 55/59; Third place 50/52/58/62/63; Host 49/54/60.
Founding member, Global Cricket Federation; 2x Twenty20 world champions.

Entrance to the next edition of the RUCT Seasogs Championship is now CONFIRMED to close at MIDDAY (BST) on MONDAY 24th SEPTEMBER.

Also, if anyone has any idea how to fix the formatting on this page (something between FSC's and Darmen's posts? I dunno) then by all means, please go ahead.
