2021: Part 1

After another mediocre international showing, the Saugeais League is gearing up for another season. The off-season transfer market didn't blow many people away, but whoever the clubs went after were of great quality, and very well could benefit their side in the long run. Bugny FC added Mangolana national team keeper Tim Hedjuk Jr to replace the departing Mikelatz Elizalde, who held the fort their for the past 4 seasons. Mangolananstriker Albert Wells surely will be happy to have a fellow countryman play for the squad. Meanwhile, another Mangolana star was brought in to the ailing Metalton side, whose League 1 exploits have been far from stellar as of late. Hopefully this addition will not only bring some experience and mentoring to the squad, but also promotion. Last of note, Tito Moreno becomes the first Western Cuban player to join the Saugeais leagues, signing for Premier League side Pays de Croix. PDC have been without a top striker for a couple of seasons, and with this addition they should feel to be in the hunt for a Globe Cup birth.

Preseason festivities are back again with the playing of the annual FAS Charity Shield match. League champions Riverside will take on the FAS Cup holders, the recently relegated Dudlek FC. Riverside know all about winning the cup after being relegated, having done just that 3 years ago. They also defeated the league champions in this match as well, giving some hope to Dudlek as history is not only on their side in that aspect, but they are the team with the most Shield victories so far with 2. Dudlek FC will play for the Have a Heart Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps fund the research, development, and treatment of heart-related disorders, while Riverside will be representing the Downtown Athletic Rehabilitation Center, which is home to the treatment and rehab of all athletes suffering from career ending and life threatening injuries.

After an explosive start by Maystead, which sees them tied atop the league table with Arçon, and Pay de Croix reaching their highest league position ever at 3rd so far, the rest of the league has been put on notice that a change in the guard my be on the way. The once mighty Gilley FC, Walldrew, and Montbenoit are sitting near the relegation zone, as their old squads are starting to break down; they need to start looking towards younger players either in their leagues or overseas.

Bugny FC granted the free transfer of Andrey Antić to Astograth University FC. He's been disgruntled over the lack of defensive skill in the back line, and has claimed to be doing most of the work the center back should take care of as well.

After a players strike shortened last season to just 129 games, both the SBO front office and the players union have worked out a new collective bargaining agreement that is now in effect for the next 15 years. With that said, the reigning champs Middleview Villagers, who thwarted the three-peat chances of Westbay, are looking to repeat after losing a lot of former international stars to retirement. 2022: Part 1

The traditional start to every season of the Saugeais Premier League continues this year, as the FAS Charity Shield once again takes place at the newly renamed Stade Amaechi Olsen (formerly Stade de Montagne). In a ceremony beforehand, Amaechi Olsen expressed his gratitude for all that he has done for Saugeais football, both domestically and internationally. "I was lucky to have played in this very stadium as a young boy by Montbenoit," he said. "Even as I traveled away to foreign soil, I would still come back here, again to this very stadium, to help the national team achieve its continued goal of being the best in the world. I hope that even my efforts of charity, much like the ones that are sponsored today, become as big of success stories as my efforts of sport."

And after the rousing speech oby Mr. Olsen, the two teams that have won the right to play in this game took the field. Arçon won their first ever league title last season, and are also playing in their first ever Charity Shield match. They've come close on numerous occasions in the FAS Cup to win the spot, but luck was not on their side. Facing opposite of them is Riverside, the current FAS Cup champions and current holders of the Charity Shield, having won it for the second time last season. Riverside are playing in their record fourth Charity Shield match, with their only loss to Gilley in the inaugural event. They will again by representing the Downtown Athletic Rehabilitation Center, which is home to the treatment and rehab of all athletes suffering from career ending and life threatening injuries, whereas Arçon are playing for the National Wildlife Conservation Committee, which oversees and protects the National Forest, which borders Arçon.

Pays de Croix almost does the double this year. After narrowly missing out on the league title on goal difference, the Saints demolish their way into the final and needed penalties to take out Gilley FC, whose victory in the local derby semi final got them into the Finals., for the FAS Cup.

Season 7

It pays to not be the champion of the SBO, as going in to the BCCC the champ is usually knoced out in the first round. The runners up have fared better, just take a look at Elkburgh last season. They made it all the way to the semi finals before being defeated by eventual champs from Darmen, Scott City. But who knows, maybe the champions of this season will break the curse and do well for once in the tournament.

Season 8

Saugeais, once again, had an overall mediocre showing at the Baseball Club Champions Cup last season. Metalton and Fresne couldn't escape out of the Qualifying Rounds, falling to teams from Tyneala and Free South Califas respectively. Ville-DuPont was ousted in its first series in the First Round Proper to Yesopalithan powerhouse Worthington, leaving only Montbenoit Hawks left in the race. Surprisingly, the first timer in the BCCC went the furthest out of the entire Saugeain delegation, reaching the semi finals before falling to another Yesopalithan team, Irkan City. A new SBO season is at hand, and once again 4 spots are up for grabs to get into the 7th Champions Cup. Will Montbenoit be able to make the competition again? Or will perennial domestic powerhouses Ville-DuPont and Riverside take some the automatic qualifiers?
