Beach Cup VII (Everything)

Postby Mangolana » Thu Jul 12, 2012 3:34 pm

Welcome to Mangolana, the host of Beach Cup VII(7). Mangolana is a nation with many to see, including its vast forests, and mostly prevalent MD(Mangolana Defense) Systems as Mangolana is in the top 10 for largest Defense force in Rushmore and third in the Arms Manufacturing industry. Mangolana has previously hosted the Beach Cup when it hosted Beach Cup IV. During that tournament, 4 beaches were used for the tournament. During this run, the tournament will be run thru 8 stadiums in 6 cities across Mangolana. Mangolana is again trying to break back into hosting international events by using the Beach Cup, much like before as a stepping stone on the way to greatness.

FW: George Pele-25-5th Campaign-50 career goals

Forward Scott Perry is regarded by most to be the greatest beach soccer player in the multiverse, and with rival Hossaim and Jerry Renalds not competing in this edition, for the first time ever, Perry should have total control over the entire competition. Tim Prince is an offensive minded defender, and loves to push forward. Pele and Lyons are average players, but they get the job done. Goalkeeper Derek Bowe is experienced, and will make sure to keep the ball out of the net behind him.

At their first ever Beach Cup, after submitting a hopeless host bid and learning much in the process, the Harvest Mice will look to do the impossible by qualifying against 8th ranked Eastfield Lodge and 22 ranked Homelands Our. They won't face their only fellow unranked opponent, Gallund, until they have the chance to go 0-2 against those relative behemoths. Eastfield Lodge are obviously favored to win the group, but the South Califans will do their best to steal points from Homelands Our and pick up momentum against Gallund in their quixotic bid to make a dent their first time through the Beach Cup.

The same team from Beach Cup VI are back to VII, the only difference is that they've now all stopped playing professional (regular) football and that they all are a little older than previous edition. All five now play Beach football only, adding to their quality. After a round of 16 exit against world's number 1 Hossaim last year, the team has grown from a 49th place on the ranking to 29th!

BEACH CUP
First tournament ever the Marills aren't put at a group to be food to Darmen and Filopines

Written by Jake Bryan Adams

If you have been paying attention to the tournaments NSI participate, you must have noticed a very strange thing that rolls around at most of the events. NSI always end up in a group that features or Darmen or Filopines. Most recently, at the DBC, NSI was able to end up in a group with both of them. This time, however, the Marills end up in a group with Kazzoria, The Icemark and Hakkland. Don't expect too much, Kazzoria is the second best team of the world at the World Ranks, meanwhile The Icemark is number 32 around.

MD 1 vs. Kazzoria (#2)
MD 2 vs. The Icemark (#32)
MD 3 vs. Hakkland (NR)
Friendly 1: [FREE]
MD 4 vs. Kazzoria (#2)
MD 5 vs. The Icemark (#32)
MD 6 vs. Hakkland (NR)
Friendly 2: [FREE]

And as well, here is the squad for the debut of NSI at the Beach Cup. Even though the NSI is basically an islandish country, we all know that the Marills tend to be or unlucky or unskilled at International Tournaments. So I wouldn't expect much by now.

Harvest Mice announce friendlies vs Marills and Ko-Orenites

The football federations of Free South Califas and Northern Sunrise Islands have agreed to a friendly on the day of group-stage playoffs, barring the unlikely event that either team is involved in those playoffs. Both squads are currently unranked, and will look to build on their first international beach soccer experience with a low-pressure match befitting their places in the Cup community.

The Harvest Mice have also agreed to a considerably more challenging friendly against 29th-ranked Ko-Oren for the first tournament off-day, to keep the pressure on themselves after their first match vs the fellow unranked squad from Gallund.

WESTERN CUBAN NATIONAL BEACH SOCCER TEAM
Beach Cup VII

Image

Western Cuba turned into super powers in Beach Soccer after there repeat in Beach Cup VI, much of the former roster has moved on and retired though. Giving way for new players on to the roster. The Beach Cup Association as a result has ranked Western Cuba third in the world. The ranking has caused an uproar in Western Cuba, with many fans calling for fraud.

But rankings are rankings. Western Cuba will get a three peat based on how they play and not on the rankings. While many are not to certain off the new look on the national team, the new players are confident that they will be in another title for Western Cuba.

Coaching Staff:

Emanuel Montero: After two straight Beach Cup victories Montero has become a celebrity in Western Cuba. However though many people are wondering, why doesn't Montero move on to bigger things. After all its just Beach Soccer. Montero all throughout this criticism has remained stern on his position as manager of the national team.

Sergio Fernandez: Fernandez impressed Montero enough that he is still on the national team as the assistant. If Western Cuba wins a third straight Beach Cup, Fernandez may get offers to be a part of coaching staff in association football, a huge gap between beach soccer.[i]

Starters:

Goalkeeper: Dante Zambrano, [i]Zambrano has finally been given his chance. After being on the bench to Lucio Castro, Zambrano now has the chance to start. Zambrano is getting on in age and this may be his only chance. Will Zambrano remember this for the rest of his life or will it be something to forget about? Suddenly Zambrano is now one of the oldest players on this team and will have to be a leader.

Defender: Fausto Salvat, Salvat is one of those young players that Moreno picked up that he believes has promise. Formerly playing for a minor league association football team, Moreno noticed him during a game and has moved his contract over to the national team for beach soccer. If Salvat plays well in this beach cup, this may make his chances of playing professional soccer a reality.

Defender: Natal Gonzalez, Just like Zambrano, Gonzalez has sat on the bench for most of his career and is on with age. Just like Zambrano he is getting one more chance, to finally start on the Beach Cup National Team. Will Gonzalez step up or will he be benched just like the rest of his career?

Forward: Konstantin Yevtushenko, An interesting but exciting addition to the national team. While this may not be in Konstantin's interest it may help him get back as a full level player. He has not been the same since his rookie season with Tumbes FC and has slowly sank with injury problems, which involves being cut by Tumbes FC and taken off the National Team. Kontantin will have to earn redemption in Beach Cup VII in order to get back to professional soccer.

Forward: Tom Dawson, Dawson is a promising young player, however though, he has not been given the respect that he deserves. Part of this is due to him being of Britannian descent, with his parents being Britannian. Dawson being of Cuban citizenry has decided on sticking to Western Cuba on the national level for soccer. Dawson attended an open tryout for the Havana City Titans and was cut on the first day, despite him being probably one of the stand out players trying out. It has been reported that racism has probably been involved. Moreno has realized the potential he has with Dawson and has given him a spot on the national team.

Bench:

Goalie: Antonio Piloto, Part of Moreno's goal for this Beach Cup is to recognize new talent and make new possibilities for Western Cuba in soccer. Moreno might just be doing that with Piloto. Walking the streets of Havana, Moreno spotted the talent in Piloto. Piloto has been training with the national team for about a month now and seems to be filling in to his new role. Zambrano though will be the starter for now though.

Defender: Rico Teba, Teba was a member of Tumbes FC, that was until he was cut by the team for behavior issues. Now Rico is being given another chance by earning a role on the bench for Moreno on the beach soccer national team.

Defender: Victor Gilbes, This is a real interesting one. Gilbes was originally a star at his college. However though a torn ACL ended this stardom. With his ACL healed, Gilbes is being given another chance being put on the bench by Moreno.

Forward: Vito Mera, Mera was a scoring machine at the college he played at. However though it was a rural college that only had 1,456 students and played in a low division. Mera will have his chance by proving himself in beach soccer. Something that was not possible at the college he played at.

Forward: Miguel Luna, Luna was an all-province player at the high school he played at in Havana. However though he sadly failed to get a fully paid scholarship. Luna coming from a poor background was not able to go to college. Now Luna is being given a chance by Moreno for that something that he couldn't do before by himself.

The Kaz Post

Kazzoria, it was never a nation of sport as much as it was a nation of violence. However there was one sport it has a decent history in; beach soccer. We were World Champions in the Second edition and have been either first or second in the world since then. However we've never won it since then. Well we're back after a few awful cups to come back and win, should we first however have a look back at out Beach Soccer past?

The Golden Age: In the first editon a bunch of slightly derranged desert tribesmen made their way to Hossaim for the first Beach cup. Kazzoria firstly got out of their group with ease; then they managed to glance through the semi-finals 6-5 over The Andromeda Islands. However it proved a round too far the final with a 7-5 defeat to the home team Hossaim, this was then the start of the bitterest of Beach soccer rivalries. However the second Beach cup in Sarrbia was really something amazing; from 0 points after three games Kazzoria climbed to the top of their group without losing again. They then continued an unbeaten run with a 3-1 win in the Quater-Finals against Spitfyred1 with a 3-1 victory; the semi-finals saw them manage to beat a good Civil Citizenry side to get into the final against Sarrbia, the host; In the final a confident 5-2 victory kick started celebrations for the Kazzorian side and thus ended the tournament. This golden age was charaterised by a strong counter attack and a confident closed defence. The football was fluid and the lead players were old and wise, however this age came to an end the next tournament.

The Downfall: Kazzoria's golden age ended in Civil Citizenry with a 4-3 defeat to Delaclava in the Quater-Finals of the third editon. It had already began with a not so convincing second placing in their group and really began with the defeat to Delaclava. Then, despite a convicing group stage finish Kazzoria crashed out to their greatest rivals Hossaim 4-3 in the Quater-Finals.

Even Dead Cats Bounce: Kazzoria however were about to bounce back it seemed at the time. They managed to get through to the Quater-Finals by coming second in the group, not so convincing (but still enough). They then came to face Altiramus in the round of 16 and absolutely thrashed them 11-4, one of the best performances in Beach Cup history. Then it was Eastfield Lodge in the Quarter-finals, Eastfield Lodge being one of Kazzoria's general rivals in all things; so it was with great happiness that Kazzoria beat Eastfield Lodge 9-0. However a 5-1 defeat to Western Cuba, who went on to win the cup, that ended the amazing run of form. The cup was then concluded with a 6-3 victory over Hossaim, despite it being a 3rd place play-off the Kazzorian fans celebrated like it was a final victory; it was their first victory over Hossaim in Beach soccer. However despite having high hopes for the next cup, the entire country fell into anarchy with several wars and stuff.

SO this will be Kazzoria's return to the big stage of Beach soccer, their squad is all new and probably ill prepared. But nothing can cut through the hope in Kazzoria's return to Mangolana and despite falling out in the Quarter-finals in the fourth edition in Mangolana they will be looking to take it this time. Here is the squad this year (starters are in Bold) (Age in Brackets)

GK Kwalka (24)
GK Morshu (19)
DF Jhwela (89)
DF Korlo (31)

DF Melkelli (45)
MF Ishelba (20)
MF Hrewka (29)
MF Mesra (48)
FW Jaraki (91)
FW Urudu (28)

Score Modifier: -3/-5 or 0.1 in Xkorinate

Choose my goalscorers Y
Godmod scoring events Y
RP injuries to my players Y
Godmod injuries to my players Y
RP Penalties to my players Y
Godmod other events Y

The defender will be playing very deep back with Ishelba just in front of them, he will then have to do a lot of sprinting to get the ball up to Jaraki who is expected to score a LOT of goals.

Anyway moving on here is the group:

Group G
Kazzoria
The Icemark
Hakkland
Northern Sunrise Islands

We are definatly the favourites for taking this group, but we have struggled to live up to expectations in the past. I would think the only challengers will be The Icemark, but they're still only 32nd in the world while we are second. So therefore we are expected to make it out of this group, we just need to make sure we are well prepared for anything else along the route. However I have a good feeling about this year, we are the highest ranked team entering for one thing.

Bethlehem Times
First Loss of Season

MANGOLANA - Earlier today, in the wonderful nation that is Mangolana, the Luziycans played against Vettrera, and lost, 6 to 7. Thus, here are the events during the three twelve minute periods.

Period One: Just 15 seconds in, the Luziycans score the first goal. At 1:07, the Vettrerans score, tying it at 1:1. Then, at 1:48, Luziyca scores a goal. At 2:09, Luziyca scores a goal, but at 2:46, Vettrera scores yet another goal. Then, at 11:41, Luziyca scores the last goal of the period

Scores at the End of Period One: 4:2
Score for Period One: 4:2

Period Two: At 1:19, Vettrera scores a goal, followed by at 1:30, by ANOTHER goal from Vettrera. The game is now tied at 4:4. Then, at 3:19, Luziyca scores the fifth goal of the match, and the season, hoping to reach 5:4. It was not to be, for at 8:42, it ties again with a goal from Vettrera. The period ends, and that was the last goal of the period.

Scores at the End of Period Two: 5:5
Score for Period Two: 1:3

Period Three: Alas, it is the last period. At 0:39, Vettrerra scores a goal, bring it to 6:5. Then, at 4:48, Vettrerra scores the goal, its winning goal, bring it to 7:5. Oh... at 6:18, the Luziycan shoot their goal. During the rest of the period, the ball was on Luziyca's side, but the bloody defense didn't let them in. Thus, the match ends...

Scores at the End of Period Three: 6:7
Scores for Period Three: 1:2

So, we lost. But it does not seem too BIG of a deal. We had various problems, but God is willing to enter the match. We may have lost, but our hopes have not been destroyed. The support of beach football DOES NOT SHRINK, for this summer, it is getting popular. We know that the fans support Luziyca, that the coach has HIGH hopes, so high that it is his hopes for the team's skill to be at a NATURAL HIGH. When the Bethlehem Times interviewed, the Manager, Abraham Lherdof had this to say:

"While I may be disappointed by the performance of our team in last night's match, it is honestly just our first night. I'd be worried if it was the quarter-final. But, this is the first day of the qualifiers, so we hope to end ANY hope for a Western Cuban three-peat, and instead, bury their team in blocks o' peat."

The first match was held in the mourning when the sun was bright and the sea that we could see was magnificent. This boosted all our players to be at their best. The fortune wasn't that bad as we only lost against Carmadin 0-1 as we were playing quite well. Even though BP's Beach soccer team did well so far as they are third place by a big margin.

Group D Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Bergnovinaia 1 1 0 0 14 6 +8 3
2 Carmadin 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
3 Boring Paradise 1 0 0 1 0 1 -1 0
4 Mapletish 1 0 0 1 6 14 -8 0

Raiyaan Malik Junior did his best at scoring goals but it was blocked by the team's goalie.

Blog on Opponents

Carmadin, The 13th best beach soccer team in nation states. Carmadin was a tough opponent for BP's team in Mangolana today. Losing 1-0, which is a good score for a newcomer.

Mapletish, the 18th best team in beach soccer. Losing to Bergnovinaia 14-6 was a bad score for Mapletish while they are lurking in last place. Borin Paradise are preparing for the next match against Mapletish.

Bergnovinaia, the first time they have played in the beac cup, had a good start against Mapletish winning 14-6 today and then have been winning the group stages. Boring Paradise will be ready to beat Mapletish and Bergnovinaia to get through to the round of sixteen.

The Kaz Post

Last night saw Kazzoria cruise through their first game with a 10-6 win over the Northern Sunrise Islands, the game was watched by 5,000 of the Kaz faifthful who filled out a large portion of the 17,500 arena (second smallest in the tournament). The game was won in the second period really, in the first one it was 3-3; however in the second Kazzoria managed to go 8-4 ahead. Even losing 2-1 in the last period Kazzoria still celebrated the victory well. It is our return to the big stage, it might not have been done with an astounding amount of skill and precision; however it has started.

Anyway so far the stand out player has been Ishelba, he scored 3 goals in the first game as midfielder and also set up much of the others. He is also seriously fast, he managed to out run his opponents and linked up the play well; which is fortunate seeings as our entire play system rests on him breaking forward. Also Jaraki did well scoring five goals even though he's 91 years old.

Now onto the next segment: 'Where are they now?' it is about the team from the Second Beach cup and what they've got up to since they left Sarrbia with a trophy and a whole bunch of cash. Firstly there is the Goalkeeper Ponkska, aged just 18 he went on to appear in the third Beach Cup however he was dropped for the Beach Cup 4 team; he then went on to become a successful goalkeeping coach for top beach cup clubs in Kazzoria and then escaped to Mangolana during the war.

Then there is Juko, the 57 year old defence man; after the cup he retired and became part of the undeground rebellion movement and was a major in the civil war for the proper rebels, however he was forced into sports journalism by the new regime who are suspicious of old opposition leaders (although killing him wouldn't have been very popular so they didn't).

Next is Yarpi who was the second piece in the Kazzorian defence; he went on to play in the 3rd Beach cup, but wasn't as good as last time. Then he went on to fight in the Civil war on the side of the democrats (they were the third and smallest side after the Fracicians and those of Matt's New Light Army) and was wounded after being caught under motar fire in the village of Monara.

That is all for today from us, remember to tune into the next game where Kazzoria will face Hakkland. It is a game we are confident to win so hopefully there should be a decent perfromance to go with it; see you then.

Vettrera Announces Domestic League After Win
After Vettrera beat Luziyca in their recent match, it was announced that Vettrera would start their own domestic Soccer League.
For season 1, the 12 "provincial teams" would be in one division, while the 12 "capital teams" would be placed in another. For season 2, teams will be put in two leagues where the best 12 performers will be in one league, and the bottom 12 will be in another. (teams will play 23 games {each team once} + 7 extra in-league games) The bottom two placing teams from the top division will then be relegated, and the top two from the other league will be promoted each season. Vettrera hopes that this new Domestic competition will be successful.
