Twenty-five nations have traveled from far and wide to the cold shores of The Icemark, to compete in its famous bogs and swamps. These nations have been drawn into five groups and will face off in a round robin format. The top placed teams and best runner-up shall automatically progress to the knock-out rounds. The other four runners up will meet in a play-off to determine who joins them.

What is Swamp Soccer?
Its not made up for starters. They play this for real. It originates from the swamps of finland where a group of cross-country skiers invented it.
The Rules are as follows:
[*]The game is obviously played in a bog, swamp or a very muddy field
[*]Each team consists of six players (1 Goalkeeper and 5 outfield players).
[*]Substitutes are unlimited throughout the entire game
[*]The game has a duration of two 12 minute halfs of Soccer
[*]The pitch is a tiny bit larger than a 5-A-Side pitch
[*There are no offsides
[*]All kick-offs, throw-ins, corner kicks, free kicks and penalties are taken by using the hands to drop the ball onto a chosen foot. With the exception of penalties, all are indirect
[*]Fancy dress is allowed as long as all your players colours match

Mashiki Debuts

The people of Mashiki have come together, and they have decided that they need to join the sporting world. Having never participated in any such event before now, the newly voted COMS (Committee of Mashiki Sports) held trials for those interested during a particularly rainy season to find the new generation of Mashiki Swamp Soccer Players. After an intense selection programme and a lot of deliberation, the squad of 10 brave players was released...

Shithouse Rats roster

Postby Free South Califas » Fri Jun 29, 2012 4:00 pm

FEDERAL INTL. FOOTBALL CMTE. RELEASES SWAMP CUP 2 ROSTER, NEW TEAM NAME

Image

SAN ELIJO LAGOON, Encinitas, SD: In keeping with the theme of the sport, the Swamp Soccer World Cup II Detachment of the International Football Committee of the Twelfth Federal Assembly (12FA/IFC-SSWC2D) compiled a list of the twelve craftiest, hungriest footballers in South Califas and released it here in our major swampland, the San Elijo Lagoon. Well, the twelve outside of our World Cup 60 squad, as their schedule is swamped with international competition, between the Warkus Cup and the Pollack Open. The detachment then introduced a historic twist: the naming of international teams is usually a formality, as they are all called the Harvest Mice, but for the swamp soccer tournament, the proud South Califas team will apparently play as the Shithouse Rats, emphasizing the wild rat's ability to find treasures amidst the muck. Having fulfilled the express positive mandate of the IFC delegates who appointed them by vote, the SSWC2D promptly disbanded and its members went back to their previous duties, or for government workers, training the replacements for their last jobs and applying for new delegations.

Manager - elected from among the players by players, staff and fans, for an infinitely-renewable one-game term. Starting lineup and tactical approach varies widely per manager.

The Freisan Farfadillian Fretball Francitian (Official Farfadillian Football Association in English) has officially presented SSWC 60's roster:

Image

Manager: Charlens Ricardensonschwein Migarfa
Assistant Manager: Joselhiane Andura
Style Modifier: 0
Nicknames: Muddy Jellyfishes

GK1: Johan Mejulus
Name: (Main team)
Age: 20
Team: Muddy Farfadillis
Style: Goalkeeper
Bio: Johan Mejulus was a total fail at association football, but then he found some hope on becoming a proffesional: Swamp Football. As a goalkeeper, he’s rather good and, even though his reflexes are depressing, the low-speed shots are easily manageable for him.

GK2:
Name: Fidel Gonzalez
Age: 19
Team: Muddy Gonhelha
Style: Goalkeeper
Bio: Out of all the Swamp Football goalkeepers on the Farfadillian Swejrap Freitan Francitian (12), this was the one who was the least horrible. He’s never on the starting line-up.

LB:
Name: Ander Mexandeliou (Main Team)
Age: 14
Team: Muddy Termijuntians
Style: Energetic and strong
Bio: Ander is Guilher’s twin, and they’re both the only 2 defenders on the team, rumours have it he’s not going to continue at Swamp Football for much longer and will join Ferdullaele FC’s youth team.

RB:
Name: Guilher Mexandeliou (Main Team)
Age: 14
Team: Muddy Termijuntians
Style: Precise passer, even on swamp
Bio: Ander’s twin, he’s 1 of the only 2 defenders on the team along with his brother and is incredibly precise on swamp, Ferdullaele FC has a keen interest on him and his brother. They are supposed to join Ferdullaele FC’s youth team by the end of this year.

CM:
Name: Miguelhe Kolinkens
Age: 20
Team: Muddy Farfadillis
Style: Continuously fouls
Bio: Miguelhe is widely acknowledged as “The bone breaking machine”, in a game where fouls don’t matter that much, this guy wo doesn’t care much about dirt keeps fouling and inkuring other teams’ players. A funny anechdote includes him confusing 1 of his teammates (due to everyone being covered on mud) and breaking him a toe.

CM:
Name: Horachi Jokeria
Age: 24
Team: Muddy Ferdullaele
Style: Bad
Bio: Horachi is a really bad player overall, henever plays on Muddy Ferdullaele. In fact, he’s here because he won the lucky draw for the last place on the national team.

RM:
Name: Elip Kander (Main Team)
Age: 22
Team: Muddy Ferdullaele
Style: Very Violent but classy
Bio: Kander is very violent and frequently commits fouls, but also plays tricks to the opponent’s defenders and midfielders. The “sweepball” is his trademark trick.

LM:
Name: Friekder Dandalleion (Main Team)
Age: 16
Team: Muddy Ferdullaele
Style: Fast when on mud
Bio: Friekder is very fast when on mud, he’s found the proper technique to run faster on mud than most players, that’s his strong point. He has too many weak points though. Like his defensive skills.

CDM:
Name: Sentialhager Fayuds
Age: 16
Team: Muddy Frijtupans
Style: Superb Assisting, Very Analitic
Bio: The main player of the midfield core the manager has decided to form. His passing skills are superb, he runs around the field during the first 5 minutes of the game, then settles, and as he knows the state of every part of the field, proceeds to create superb opportunities.

CAM:
Name: Monuele Numbá (Main Team) (Captain)
Age: 20
Team: Muddy Shwellers
Style: Finisher, good both defensively and phisically
Bio: Would be like a striker, if it wasn’t because he’s much more involved defensively and on the midfield than offensively, if the team was to design a striker, this would be him. He’s a very good finisher.

ST:
Name: I7’rog Ferjandovic
Age: 12
Team: Ferdullaele FC (not a Swamp Football player, an association football one)
Style: Has never played Swamp Football
Bio: Ferdullaele FC decided to send his most promising young player to the Swamp Football World Cup to experience how a World Cup feels. He may enter matches during the last minutes as a striker to finish off what the actual players have done. He seems to have talent.

Starting Line-up:
---------------------Mejulus-----------------------
Mexandeliou ----------------------Mexandeliou
-----------------------------------------------------
Kander-------------------------------Dandalleion
--------------------Numbá-------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------

In the Vamps' Hotel in The Icemark

Cason Viccen: Here we are again, for a shot at repeating in this competition. Have y'all been practicing?

Emmanuel Laret: Of course, I have. I'm rather fond of the fact that we won this competition the first time around. Let's not give up the title yet.

Raoul Tibez: Nobody is going to be surprised by us doing well this time. We'll have to be on top of our game, but I do believe that we can handle ourselves.

Cason Viccen: We have the hosts, Wight, Andossa Se Metrin Vega... Some big names there.

Raoul Tibez: Big they may be in normal football, but this is Swamp Ball. The title is ours to lose.

Emmanuel Laret: All right, then. Hope they're ready to face some fanatic Vampires!

Raoul Tibez: Let's see what they have in store for us this time...

Cason Viccen: Yep. Here we go.

Michael VII Swamp Soccer Team for SSWC II.

Coined the M7 Ex-cons, this team is a bunch of players who have been excluded from the MFA (Michael VII Football Association) due to having criminal records that would reflect badly on the association as a whole. In the hopes of being competitive, and also that a few of these scumbags drown in the swamps, Michael VII has entered the following players in SSWC II.

Yes, this is the same team as last time, I feel that I didn't RP well enough with them last time, so yeah, we'll keep it going. Ages increase by a year...

Starters
GK: Dwight 'Slasher' Williams, 49 y.o., Served 20 years for Armed Robbery of a Bank in Frbiba. Currently on probation. CAUTION: May carry knife.
DEF: Jerry 'Saber Tooth' Carter, 38 y.o., Served 10 years for Assault in Jagoza. Still incarcerated, but released for playing. CAUTION: He may bite.
DEF: Hans 'Grizzly Bear' James, 60 y.o., Sentenced to Death for Murder in Karoe. Hopefully will drown, and that's why he's here.
MF: Tristan 'Baby-face' Smith, 22 y.o., Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Sexual Assault in Karoe. Also could drown. CAUTION: Might try choking.
OFF: Mike 'No Mercy' Hunter, 60 y.o., Served 35 years for Conspiracy to Murder in Gaetsa. Don't let him plan things. CAUTION: Makes plans to kill.
OFF: Dennis 'The Menace' Moran, 41 y.o., Served 20 years for Grand Theft Auto and Burglary in Jagoza. CAUTION: Keep valuables locked and hidden.

Reserves
GK: Reese 'Dirty Meshketan' Short, 19 y.o., Charged with Armed Robbery in Gaetsa. Govt wants dead before trial. CAUTION: Keep away from metals.
DEF: Freddy 'Five-O Killer' Tudor, 26 y.o., Sentenced to Death for Murder of Policeman in Frbiba. CAUTION: Not allowed to use knives. Only spoons.
MF: Ollie 'Scream' Merton, 35 y.o., Served 10 years for Assault in New Schmejgland. CAUTION: Has Hulk-like mood swings. OLLIE SMASH!
OFF: Samuel 'Innocent' Williamson, 24 y.o., Sentenced to 30 years for Sexual Assault of Minor in Atlancia. No real caution, but prosecution would like him drowned. While he retains the nickname Innocent, he was found guilty of Sexual Assault of a Minor...Pedo.

KEY
Served: -Time in prison completed.
Sentenced: -Currently in prison, prison officials want them dead.
Charged: -Arrested by not yet sentenced. Prosecution wants them dead for court costs. May well be Innocent.

Dwek and Biglo Figraz sat at opposite ends of the cafe table. They'd disagreed on many things when they were younger, being brothers in all; And the fact that they were only one yet of age apart made their rivalry even more intense. But in recent times, one thing had brought them closer: Sport. As both had been picked for the Swamp Soccer World Cup Team, they'd travelled together over to The Icemark. Now they say still in a cafe casually sipping some hot chocolate a couple of hours before the next match, and everything was quiet. Dwek broke the silence:

"We should have won yesterday"
"I know bro, but it's only our first game, nil-nil's still good for us."
"But we should have had two penalties at least, and that goal definitely shouldn't have been disallowed! That Ref was completely biased as well! He couldn't see a damn duck in a po-"
"Calm down man you're overreacting completely, it was a fair game and you know it. Just relax yourself. You're getting too worked up over it."
"That's coming from you though. You didn't even play!"
"Well in Sherlock! Of course I didn't play, but since Inwas in the bench, I probably got an even better view than you did!"
"Oh look at you now, thinking you know it all! Bit over-confident are we now Mr. Ay?"
" You know sometimes you go too far. This is one of those times, what do you want me to go and do? It's not my problem is it!"

Silence froze over the table, as the brothers considered what they had just said. Dwek knew he had been horrible to Biglo, and the words he had used were unnecessary. Once again he broke the silence:

"OK, look I'm sorry, I overreacted a little and I didn't mean to say those things about you at all. It was no big deal was it?
"No, of course it wasn't no hard feelings, right?
"Yeah... No hard feelings..."

After the Vamps' Win over Royalsoldiers

Cason Viccen: Give'em credit for being classy and royal.

Emmanuel Laret: We gave'em hell though. Three goals from Raoul here, and another by me. Great job defending though, Cason.

Raoul Tibez: Taking care of "royal" business is nothing new for us, though.

Cason Viccen: True, too true. It wasn't that hard to defeat them... Although they sure did try hard.

Raoul Tibez: An A for effort for them, a W in the books for us. Good day.

Emmanuel Laret: Sure deal. I think we're in prime shape.

Raoul Tibez: Too early to tell for the entire tourney, guys.

Cason Viccen: Here he goes again... Mr. Pessimism. That's why you're the coach though, and you won us the title the last time with that mindset, so I'll leave you be.

Raoul Tibez: You better.

Didn't see this until just now, sorry for the delay. In the event that my heavily-armed security guards are not ICly allowed into the country, they will be RP'd as present and armed, but not in uniform. Also, Each individual changeling has a preferred form. They are given to you for your RPing use, though you may choose to RP them in any form you wish them to use, no matter how stupid or unrealistic it may be.

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
Changeling Team - Swamp Soccer World Cup II

Team Background
As the Equestrian States' Sports Council could not pull together a proper national team, the government has stepped in (secretly) and assigned the role of representing the Equestrian States to the inmates at Alcloptraz Maximum Security Prison. The island prison holds several thousand Changelings, and is rarely on the "To Visit" lists of tourists in the Equestrian States as over ten security checks are required before one is allowed to set a hoof on or off the island. A group of 16 of these Changelings have been chosen by their prison wardens to play as the "official" Equestrian States team. Their selections were based on viciousness and aggressiveness, or at least the guards think they were (it's hard to tell which is which at times). When not playing, the prisoners will be kept in magically-reinforced transport containers kept under armed guard at all times. Guards will also work to prevent any unauthorized news from reaching the Equestrian States itself as the existence of this team is a state secret.

Frenzi and Friki were wild thrill seekers, adrenaline junkies, always looking for a rush. Their names sort of give it away though, being wid when they were younger didn't help
either. But now they were older, they were the seniors of the team, the ones that people loke young Hanka looked up to. But when not in the press, there was always a sort of madness about them. Before the match started the next day while having their bye day, they once again went in search of thrills. What they got was more than they bargained for...

"We need to do this" exclaimed Frenzi as he peered down into the empty blackness of the crevice.
"You sure? I mean we've done a lot of crazy stuff, but for me this is too far." replied Friki. " I men it would be a good laugh, but there's too much risk in it, imagine what we'd have to say to Coach. I'm not chickening out or anything but this is too much."
"Fine, suit yourself man. I mean I ain't gonna sit round all day watching the sun go by. I'm doin this thing."

As Frenzi got strapped into his flying squirrel suit, with absolutely no experience, you could see tiny beads of sweat beginning to form on his brow, as if he was almost nervous about what was to come. 'But I'm Frenzi' he thought to himself. 'I never step down and I never will.' He prepared for the descent.

As he stood on the edge, he heard Friki shout to him "Scream so I know you're OK on the way down."
"Sure thing." he answered, but he could hardly hear himself speak over the constant droning the crevice put inside of him.
"Never step down" he whispered to himself.
He jumped.

Now freediving is an incredibly dangerous sport if you don't have the right frame of mind. You need control and mental strength. This was unfortunate for Frenzi. Within 50m he'd already opened his wings, a crucial mistake if you don't know how to use them. The walls were fast approaching, and he couldn't change his path. It was getting closer 50, 40, 30 metres. He was heading for a full-on face plant against the rocky limestone face. Suddenly though, he was picked from mid-air, and began to fall once more.

300m later, he landed on the crevice floor, it was all really a blur on the way down, but now things were coming into focus. The first and only thing he saw was Friki staring at him with an emotionless face; Disappointed to say the least.

After the Vamps' 5-1 Win over Andossa Se Metrin Vega

Cason Viccen: Damn it, I gave up one goal again. Why is it that I can't keep a clean sheet?

Emmanuel Laret: Pursuing perfection yet again, I see. In a sport like ours, giving up one goal in a whole game is not bad at all. You should know this by now.

Raoul Tibez: Leave him be. His attention to detail is what makes him good at what he does, and he is the best keeper that we have.

Cason Viccen: Why do you think that I give up that initial goal in the first half, Raoul?

Raoul Tibez: I believe you are one of those players who need a few shots coming at you before you warm up. When you do warm up, though, you are brilliant.

Emmanuel Laret: For certain. First few minutes of every game, I wonder why we put you out there, man.

Raoul Tibez: You, Emmanuel, are the opposite. You look so gassed at the end of every game. Keep your stamina, man.

Cason Viccen: I guess it balances out! Some early birds to jump start the game and some late comers to close it out.

Raoul Tibez: Which is why you are both on this team. To keep the intensity going somewhat, you know...

After the Vamps' 4-2 Win Over Wight

Cason Viccen: Worst game we've had in a while. Had to come back in the second half after going down 1-2 at halftime. What the heck happened to y'all forwards?

Emmanuel Laret: Not sure, man. They sure know how to defend... It was a bit scary for a while, but we pulled it through, thank goodness.

Raoul Tibez: It was the hardest game we'd played in a while. Glad to see that we can pull it through when we need to. Not glad to see that it took us a half to wake up from one heck of a slumber that left me seething.

Cason Viccen: Sorry, boss. I suppose though, might as well have the bad games done and over with and out of our system before we play the knockout rounds.

Raoul Tibez: You are right there, Cason. One more game in the group stage, then the knockout rounds...

Emmanuel Laret: We are still the team to beat.

Raoul Tibez: Now, though, teams have one half of football where Wight hung around with us to base strategy off of.

Cason Viccen: You're right, damn it! So what do we do now?

Raoul Tibez: Ain't it simple? We develop some new ones. Come on, I have a few plans in mind...

After the Vamps' 5-1 Win Over The Icemark

Cason Viccen: 4-0, with a +13 advantage! Yeah!

Emmanuel Laret: We did just dominate our group, right?

Raoul Tibez: That we did. I think you've all been doing a fantastic job. Way to go.

Cason Viccen: So what should we do with our off day?

Raoul Tibez: I think we should go watch Free South Califas and Western Cuba play. They're the only other teams without a draw or a loss.

Emmanuel Laret: Scouting out the competition? I'll go watch Free South Califas.

Raoul Tibez: Then I suppose I shall head to watch Western Cuba.

Cason Viccen: I think I'll keep an eye on the TV for any other teams that pop out.

Raoul Tibez: Sounds good. We'll talk about what we observed afterwards, deal? Let's go...

"A draw will take us to the play-offs" muttered Tshaka. "Since we're playing Flagler, that's how it'll be if we draw."
"But we want a win though, preferably by 3 or more goals, then we get through straight away. And even if we draw, Darmen could lose and we'd still probably get through." exclaimed Bakala.
"But you know, just sitting here now, imagine what could happen to us if we went on to win this thing. Wouldn't it be amazing?"
"Hold your horses man" said Friki casually as he walked in on this conversation. "You wanna win this thing, you've gotta work hard and make everything you do count."
"I'm doin that though captain!"
" You're not now. You're thinking too far ahead, and that's one bad step right there. Take it one step at a time, and you might have a good chance."
"Wise words from a wise man" Bakala added in sarcastically, although the otherela didn't seem to notice what he said.
"Get some rest peoples. Tomorrow is judgement day"...

The Ferdullaele Post

Did you know? Section

On today's Did you know? Section we're going to tell you about the Swamp Soccer World Cup, in which Farfadillis is doing quite well. Yes, you read that right, we actually have a swamp soccer team, and we actually are doing well at at least one sport.

But, what is exactly Swamp Soccer? And who are the players on our national team?

Well, let us answer those questions.

Swamp Soccer is a game very similar to association football (soccer) invented on a far away country called RL Finland. It is played on a very muddy field, or even a swamp. There is 1 goalkeeper, and 5 outfield players with unlimited substitutions. Also, games are relatively short , playing approximately 12 minutes each half. Other notable differences with association football are that there are no off-sides and that for all throw-ins, free-kicks, corner-kicks, penalties, etc. are taken by using your hands to drop the ball onto a chosen foot. The fact that it is played on mud makes it less enjoyable and therefore less popular, at least here.

So, who plays for us? Well, we'll tell you about our most notable players:

Johan Mejulus:
Our goalkeeper, he used to play association football, and was horrible at it. But, now that he doesn't need much reflexes on a game with rather slow shots, he gets to shine a bit.

The Mexandeliou twins (Ander and Guilher):
They're only 14. They're both backs. And they're pretended by Ferdullaele FC for their association football team. They're very good and it wouldn't surprise anyone if they eventually got to play for our association football national team.

Elip Kander:
This guy is awesome, he kicks everyone he sees on the field who happens to carry the ball and I mean EVERYONE. But, on the other hand, he tries every kind of trick there is. He plays with the opponent's temper.

Friekder Dandalleion:
How can this guy run so fast on MUD? Seriously, this guy is something incredible, I wonder how fast he is when on a normal field. Too bad he's so terrible at almost everything else.

Monuele Numbá:
A very good finisher, we'd say he's a striker, but his efforts are defence make us think twice about it.

But, how's the team going? Well, here are today's standings on our group (Group C):

Code: Select all
Pld   W  D  L   GF  GA  GD  Pts
1 Equestrain States                   3   2  1  0    4   2  +2    7
2 Farfadillis                         3   1  2  0    8   6  +2    5
3 Michael VII                         3   1  2  0    4   3  +1    5
4 Vantelira                           3   0  2  1    3   4  −1    2
5 Ko-oren                             4   0  1  3    6  10  −4    1

As you can see, we have fairly high chaces of qualifying, as the first two qualify.

Well, here concludes our Did you know? Section.
