RP Opportunity
For those of you following RP in the Cup of Harmony thread, you may have seen the Great Remove storyline by Wight, who is RPing his (rather crazy) nation's move to Atlantian Oceania. Basically, instead of warping into ordinary reality (to borrow Arch's terminology) into Northwestern AO a simple manner, they've missed and the arrival of Wight in AO inadvertently has set off a chain of seismic and volcanic disasters that change the face of Northeastern AO. From Wight's latest CoH RP:

The damage was done. The song was messed up. Somewhere, in the north-easterly corner of Atlantian Oceania, Ronny Tolkien's half finished song caused a mighty shift of tectonic plates. Furious eruptions of lava spewed into the ocean, which boiled, and a great hole formed in the ocean bed, and a whole great island nation was broken into a dozen smaller, shattered pieces. “Ronny, for the love of the hairy river dolphin, stop it!” cried out Tommy Cooper Remade. Having had his fair share of public traumas, he had developed a pathological fear of natural disasters. “I can't!” said Ronny, “it's run away from me now. It's all Malcolm's fault!”

After minutes which seemed like hours, and the whole corner of the world covered in steam and volcanic ash and bathed in the angry waters of tsunami, the Atlantian Oceania region settled down to it's remodelled and broken form.

There was an awkward silence.

So what does this mean for you? Well, basically, during the Group Stage of the DBC (probably after MD1) I'll unleash the massive destruction that Wight's appearance has wrought. Thankfully Starblaydia itself is generally not too close to the action, but it will suffer quakes and a tsunami wave (not a huge one, but a damaging one nonetheless). Here's a handy map, and some guidelines to the damage. Stadiums affected are highlighted.

• Zone B would suffer possibly heavy damage from seismic activity in the form of tsunami and aftershock. Volcanic fallout could also become a major concern in the closer islands of Hutt River and a couple of other places
  
• Zone C would see moderate damage from seismic and Tsunami activity. Several unclaimed islands disappear. Low-lying areas flood.
  
• Zone D would suffer minor damage. Small quakes. Etc. low area flooding
  
• Zone E would see minimal damage. Felling a slight shake or such might be the entire effect. Very low level areas, such as the Gull Islands of D&S might have some slight flooding.

So, basically, Cedrus will be hardest hit, being both an island and in the path of the Tsunami. Farça (home of the 3PPO, among other games) is inland so will feel the Earthquake. Other areas of Starblaydia (such as the tip of the Island in Zone B, and other particularly coastal areas in Zone C) will also be damaged. I'm not looking to immolate my nation here, but this is disaster territory, mostly due to the scale.

Starblaydi relief efforts will be concentrated on Nidola, which is just south of Farça and sits perfectly on the bay to be badly hit, but Cedrus and their largely ex-Audioslavian population will get the worst of it. This is, of course, Wight's RP overall, but there's no real place to collate the story other than in his own posts in the CoH (and various ones scattered elsewhere). So, with no real focal point, and my nation being dragged into it (or rather, hit by it), this seems as good a time as any to say 'here you go, RP about that if you want'.

So what does this mean for me? (by which I mean you, the reader.
Well, primarily it can mean whatever you want it to mean. Feel free to not even mention it. Or, on the other hand, you can have your players visit affected areas, do charitable things, get caught in the most awesome surfing of their lives, get hit by falling masonry the occasional building, get drowned or lost, decide to go looting, become heroes by saving a puppy about to be hit by a wave, whatever.

Seriously, have fun with it (if that's not an oxymoron). Even if your team isn't in the area (or, in fact, isn't in the DBC at all you're more than welcome to have tourists, ex-Pats, businesspeople or whatever caught up in this.

Be aware that Starblaydia is a massive, rich, powerful country that just happens to be in a bit of a slump at the moment. This is a former dictatorship, with a huge, but declining, Police State, Military, Secret Police, etc. The funds and manpower is available to deal with it - after the damage has all been done, of course - so I'd consider this a Hurricane Katrina-scale situation, only spread out over a wider area that doesn't completely destroy the cities in it's path.

So yes, ask some questions (either in here, the DBC23 Sign-ups Thread, or via TG) and let's do some collaborative RPing.

Yeah, a roster thread will be posted by the hosts when they are elected. In the BoF and CoH, it's usually posted in an Everything Thread.

@ Starblaydia, that's an excellent RPing idea! My nation is is pretty close to the disaster area (Zone D) so we are in a way affected as well. In my next RP for the DIBC, I will write about how the disaster has affected Thatius and Starblaydia, and how my players and coaching staff have helped out. Thanks for the idea, I look forward to writing the story!

A bit of extra flourish for RPers: according to the Great Remove storyline, my puppet The Disputed Territories of Israeli Apartheid Client-State snatched up the land that Wight originally wanted in AO, after making a backroom deal with Wight's two-timing real estate agent.

IACS are not participating in the DBC or any other competition outside of AO except UICA, but there you have it.

As long as signups are still open, just post that you're withdrawing the puppet, and then sign up with the new one.
