1. Sign-Ups
To sign up for the World Cup of Hockey, simply post in this thread stating your intention to participate. If you roleplay under a name different from your NationStates account name, please make a note of that in your post. Typically (although this is left to host discretion) nations that Cease-To-Exist (CTE) prior to the start of competition are removed from the sign-up lists; if your nation CTE's prior to the beginning of competition, you are advised to check on the status of your sign-up and, if necessary, sign back up.
For those new to NS Sports: please check out The Guide to Sports Roleplaying. Further questions may be asked in this thread, or in the Discussion thread, found in the Signature of this post.
2. Puppet Policy
Users which have previously participated in the World Cup of Hockey are permitted to submit a second nation for participation as a puppet. To sign up a puppet nation, simply post a sign-up post with that nation as you would normally for the main nation, and note that you are signing up a puppet. Please note which main nation/account it is a puppet of. Also post a (pre-)confirmation with your main account/nation. Please note that in the event that main nations wish to sign-up after a hard sign-up limit is reached, puppet nations, depending on the agreement established between the Federation President and the host-designate, could be among the first nations to be booted from sign-ups (apart from CTE'd nations) to make room for mains. Please also note that any additional puppet policy is at the discretion of the host, with the President's advice and assistance available where needed.
3. Hosting
I am tentatively setting the following cut-off date for host bids, subject to adjustment based on numbers/when we get bids. If a host bid is in plans but may need to be submitted slightly after the deadline, please contact Ko-oren directly via TG or PM, as I am more than welcome to accommodate that and push back the deadline as needed. Host Bid Cutoff Date: Wednesday, 15th of May 2024 at 22:00 CEST. Everyone who signs up is allowed to submit a host bid, but consider that previous WCOH and/or WJHC participation, knowledge of ice hockey, hosting experience and a good record as participant and host are all highly recommended. In your host bid, make sure to indicate the details relating to scorination and the format being used. In this day and age, where we have a multitude of scorination files that have been modified from past, this part cannot be emphasised enough. It is also essential to include Tiebreakers and IC information as well.
Please note that the prospective bidders are welcome to propose edits to a tournament bid's details while the tournament right is in the process of being decide, provided those edits are public. Once the tournament's hosting right is won, the format and scorination details should stay as close to the bid details as possible. The World Cup of Hockey Federation reserves the executive right to remove the host-designates, who stray too far from what they have bid for without a valid reason.
For inspiration, here are a few recent successful WCoH bids.
