Walamzia Advances To Knockout Rounds

In a shocking turn of events, Walamzia has advanced to the knockout stages of the Baptism of Iron. We will have more information later, but we are attempting to locate where our highlights are, so please stay tuned.

Thereisnogodistan 3–0 Britonisea Gregoryisgodistan National Symphony and Chorus performed "Ban Britonisea" during the pregame show.
Schottia 18–0 Kolmya Game delayed 91 minutes after someone was smoking in the stadium and set off the fire alarm, forcing an evacuation. Once the fire department gave the all-clear, the smoker was executed at the 50-yard line since smoking is a capital crime.
Eritai 21–47 Southern Democratic States Game delayed 48 minutes after someone tried to burn an SDS flag and smash statues of elves at the 50 yard line, then got executed for disturbing the peace.
Walamzia 0–28 Hambeich Game delayed 44 minutes after cannons fired off during pregame performance of the 2014 Overture by the Gregoryisgodistan Military Band set off the sprinkler system and forced the stadium to be evacuated. The 2014 Overture is a 12-minute long musical composition celebrating victory in the Second Hicanan War and the total destruction of Hicana.

Francois-Michel Nkong'o was surprised at the tenacity of the Britonisea hand-egg team, but he was more surprised at the fact that he was actually surprised at Britonisea's tenacity. The fact that the breezes from the sea just beside Coastal Stadium wasn't cooperating with the game just soured his mood even more. They'd had many chances to make field goals in this game, but the wind just wasn't letting the ball go through the posts. It was already the last ten seconds of the fourth quarter; ten seconds before they would be headed into the dreaded overtime. Ten seconds before Thereisnogodistan's dream of repeating its mother nation's feat in the Baptism of Iron could potentially be ended.

The line of scrimmage was now twenty yards from the end zone. The offensive line had not had much success in bringing the team forward, thanks to a very stiff Britonish defense. In other circumstances, the team would have readily gone for the field goal from a distance much farther than that. But with the unexpected strong sea breezes, the kicker was not so confident that he would be able to make the goal. But after a huddle in which Coach Nkong'o stressed that this was now or never, the Welshman kicker, Einion Evans, was sufficiently convinced for trying for one more free kick.

The pigskin was put into play. Evans kicked the ball right out of the hands of the holder. The ball flew high, towards the goalposts. "Come on, fly," Nkong'o said to himself. Right at that moment, the breeze suddenly stopped. The ball flew, and flew, and flew, and it sailed right between the goalposts.

"YES!" was the collective shout from the Fleftic and Thereisnogodistani fans. They had managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat at almost the last second. Sure, it wasn't really the last second, because there was four more seconds to go, but everyone knew that it was a literal last-gasp victory. With that victory under their belt, they would next face Schottia, a nation whose sports programs have become familiar faces for the Fleftics. However, only time will tell if they will be able to triumph against the Leviathans.

Thereisnogodistan 28–7 Schottia Game delayed 67 minutes after 50 visiting fans chanted "COCONUT" thinking they could get away with it because they had their papers, only to realize they forgot them at the hotel and get executed.
Southern Democratic States 10–0 Hambeich Game delayed 52 minutes after Gregoryisgodistan National Symphony and Chorus was arrested by International Police on trumped up harassment charges on their way to the stadium to perform the national anthems. Eventually, a random person from the crowd was picked to sing the national anthems of Gregoryisgodistan, Southern Democratic States, and Hambeich, but as she did not know the latter two, she basically made up the tune and lyrics as she went along.

The Southern Demecratic States qualifies for the Iron Bowl!

The Southern Democratic States beat Hambeich 10-0 in the semi final and are qualified to play the Iron Bowl, the championship game of the Baptism of Iron XVII. The Southern Bears' opponent at the iron bowl will be Thereisnogodistan who beats Schottia 28-7.

The game between Hambeich and SDS was delayed 52 minutes after Gregoryisgodistan National Symphony and Chorus was arrested by International Police. A random person was picked in the crowd to sing both national anthems but didn't know the words of our glorious national anthem. I suggest we strike back and if Gregoryisgodistan comes in our country we should pick someone from the crowd to sing their anthem. The game was hard fought and no one scores in the first half. The game was still scoreless after the 3rd quarter. With 12:38 remaining in the 4th quarter, the Southern Democratic States finally takes the lead when Clifford Jenkins passed for 16 yards to John McRae in the endzone for a touchdown. SDS added 3 more points later on a 54 yards field goal by Crockett Burkhead. Darius Riddick didn't play his best game with only 74 yards on 24 attempts. Clifford Jenkins completed 15 passes on 22 attempts for 183 yards with 1 TD and 1 interception.

Iron Bowl
The Iron Bowl between the Southern Democtaric States and Thereisnogodistan will be played at the 617 stadium in District 7 Ward 10. If you want to travel to Gregoryisgodistan, it is advised to keep your papers with you. The game will be broadcasted live on BSN with a 12 hours lenght pre game show before the game with players interviews, an history of the Baptism of Iron and a report on Gregoryisgodistan's culture, gastronomy and best touristic spots. And finally the game between the Southern Democratic States and Thereisnogodistan. It is not the first clash between the Commonwealth of the United Smilers (an association of independent nations which comprises the Southern Democratic States, Miley World and Pays d'en Haut) and Abanhfleft and its colonies. During the International Baseball Slam VI, Miley World and Abanhfleft was placed in the same group, both teams had no experience and Abanhfleft lost in the final against Gregoryisgodistan while Miley World finished 3rd in the group. During the Baptism of Fire 57, Pays d'en Haut and Abanhfleft was placed in the same group. Abanhfleft lost in the quarter final against the BoF 57 winner, Isula ge Ru, while Pays d'en Haut finished 4th in the group. The Southern Democratic States will try to venge Miley World and pays d'en Haut.

It has come to my government's attention that fifty Fleftic citizens had been executed in your country due to their willful disobedience of the laws that you have established over your nation since you came into power. The aforementioned crime that my fellow citizens had committed in your nation is the following: chanting the name of a certain fruit that begins with "coco" and ends with "nut," which according to your laws is a crime punishable by execution. Indeed, when you caught our citizens chanting the name of this so-called "forbidden fruit" over and over during a gridiron football match in your country, you had your police force execute them right in the middle of the football field! And while my government certainly understands that they are your laws and it is your country and therefore your will trumps everyone else's, we do respectfully request that we be allowed to claim the bodies of our countrymen that you had executed, and bring them back to their home land.

We hope that this request can be acknowledged and accepted as soon as possible. We do not demand much from you, just the chance to let my government retrieve the bodies of our fallen citizens in your land. Their families have already heard about the incident, and are seeking to just see their loved ones for the last time, never mind their demand to invade your nation because of this slight. Rest assured, we will not invade you just because you killed some of our citizens who were actually blatantly violating your national laws. We only ask that we be allowed to retrieve their bodies in your country and repatriate them back to the Democratic Republic. Their families deserve the closure that they seek.
