RP thread
Bid thread

I say, chaps.... Welcome to World Cup 69, the Cup for Chaps!

This is the World Cup 69 Roster Thread. Nations that have signed up for World Cup 69 should post their rosters in this thread. This is NOT the Signup Thread, so nations that are not signed up for World Cup 69 should NOT post in this thread.

Rosters should include your starting 11, your reserves, your manager/coach/captain and any assistants on their staff. You may also include background information about your players, coaches and nations in this thread. This thread is also the place for information about your team's home stadium.

There are no limits on roster size and no requirements to make your roster realistic. In past World Cups, there have been teams comprised of sentient giant zucchinis, possibly immortal elves, an egg, Aztec deities, talking ponies, bears with guns, monks from another universe, and even a team of kids with magical powerups... But don't let that put you off if you do want to field a team of professional football-playing humans - plenty of us do!

There is also no restriction on team gender. Plenty of past World Cup winners have field part- or all-female teams, while the much-missed (by the Holy Empire, anyway) Errinundera habitually fielded genderqueer teams.

There's also no requirement that your stadium must be located within your nation or, indeed, any requirements for your stadium other than a pitch and 2 goals. Maybe you've banned the sport and have to play in a remote location hiding from the police, maybe your team is being paid to play their home matches in another country, or maybe your nation isn't so much a nation with physical territory as an ideological concept.... And it's all up to you as to whether your team plays in front of fanatically nationalistic crowds in an ultra-modern stadium, or at a run-down high school stadium before one man and his dog. The Archregimancy's monks, for example, regularly play in Orthodox monasteries in front of tiny crowds, while Valanora's elves play in the modern 60,000 capacity Hatire Memorial Stadium.

Rosters should also include a style modifier, which is a number between negative 5 and 5. The higher your style modifier, the more goals you will score and the more goals you will allow. In contrast, the lower your style modifier, the fewer goals you will score and the fewer goals you will allow. You may change your style modifier, by requesting the change in an OOC note in an RP. Note that a high style modifier will have almost no impact on your goal difference, so a high modifier will not increase your qualification chances.

You are encouraged (but not required) to place an RP permissions box in your roster (feel free to cut and paste here!):

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Yes/No
Godmod scoring events: Yes/No
RP injuries to my players: Yes/No
Godmod injuries to my players: Yes/No
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Yes/No
Hand out red cards to my players: Yes/No
Godmod other events: Yes/No

You may also add conditions to your RP permissions, such as a request to TG you if they choose your scorers or restrictions on the severity of injuries if you allow them to RP injuries to your players. See here for an example.

Posting a roster will not only net you an RP bonus, but will also help with RP for both the other teams in your group and yourself.

The theme of the current tournament is "the Cup for Chaps". You are under no obligation to engage with this theme, and doing so will not accrue any further RP bonus. However, anyone choosing to field a team of chaps (a term which is gender-neutral in this context) is warmly welcome to do so, and may find additional RP opportunities should they qualify for the tournament.

This thread should only be used for the posting of rosters. If you have any questions, please post them in the World Cup Discussion Thread. RPs belong in the World Cup 69 RP Thread.

The Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki
Official Roster for the 69th World Cup

Nation Background

Mizuyuki (Mikazukian: 瑞雪 , Tinchalian: 瑞雪, Mizuyuki; formally 瑞雪国 Mizuyuki-koku, Ruixueguo, alternatively the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki), is in effect an amalgamation of twenty prefectures into a single unitary state, known formally as the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki or the Technocratic Union of Mizuyuki. The Divine Empress of Mizuyuki, Empress Asuka, Shirakawa-no-Kirino, is the de jure ruler of the country, while in practice, a select group of ten individuals - collectively known as the Executive Committee - are the leaders of Mizuyuki.

Situated in the region of Aeneas, the Celestial Empire has prided itself at being at the forefront of scientific progress for many a year. However, in recent years its sporting achievements have been nothing to sniff at, either; two successive qualifications in WC66 and 67 tell its own story, while only two last-gasp goals prevented them from making it three in a row at the last World Cup. In absolute terms, however, success has been difficult to come by; the only footballing honours that Mizuyuki have bagged are the now-defunct Market Cup and the regional Aenean Cup.

Unfortunately, due to the inexorable progress of time, there is no historical record available for the foundation of the Celestial Empire. Historians claim that there is not sufficient empirical evidence to trace the links and connections back in time, but according to uncorroborated apocryphal evidence passed down via oral tradition, the lineage of the ruling House of Shirakawa can be traced to the ultimate deity of Kiseki-no-michi; Kirigiri-no-Mikoto-no-oomikami.

Mizuyuki is a country of approximately 72 million people. The population is about as homogenous as a pancake - more than ninety-five percent of the population are Mizuyuki-jin, with a smattering of other minorities floating around the place. It is a technologically advanced, semi-isolationist country that mostly keeps to itself, though it has been known to intervene in international affairs with the intention of preserving the status quo.

Stretching over 225,000 km2 in total land area, Mizuyuki ranks among the smaller nations in Aeneas - however, it ranks among the most densely populated nations in the region, with an average population density of almost 325 people per square kilometre. Mizuyuki has practised a form of government that is similar to an absolute monarchy ever since the promulgation of the Asuka Constitution in 2014. However, it does still retain some semblance of democratic government, with members of both Houses in its unitary bicameral parliamentary system elected by universal suffrage.

For more relevant information, see the Yukipedia page on Mizuyuki.

Team Background

Three cycles; all of them comparatively successful to the doom and gloom that came before.

Having been granted effective carte blanche over team affairs following her masterful managerial performances in her debut cycle, things have perhaps not gone in Shirakiin Kurumi's favour last cycle. Top seeds in the group stage for the first time in Mizuyukian footballing history, the Nova choked badly against their group stage opponents, leading to a relatively unfancied Neu Engollon outfit pipping them to the group title, and along with it an easier route to the 68th World Cup Finals in Legalese and the Free Republics. Shirakiin's young guns comfortably disposed of Kalumba over two legs in their first playoff, but suffered heartbreak in the second playoff against Osarius; having pulled off a dramatic equaliser in the dying embers of the game, the Nova were then undone by two quick-fire goals in extra time. They are now back with a vengeance for World Cup 69 - regaining their place at football's top table will be a priority. Qualification will be of paramount importance. Nothing less will be acceptable.

Shirakiin is a very ideological coach when it comes to football strategy and tactics; as such, she has persevered with her brand of attacking, creative football throughout her reign at the top of Mizuyuki's footballing hierarchy. Shirakiin heavily emphasises the rapid recycling of possession from the back - it's not uncommon to see the ball being passed quickly from the defence to the midfield or forward line after possession is gained, without any dithering on the ball. However, there is a distinct personality to the team's attacking play - Mizuyuki usually breaks rapidly down the flanks before cutting into the middle. This can give them some trouble when they come up against a team who prioritises the battle for the center of the park, but in that case the two inverted wingers will switch flanks and start to bomb crosses in from wide with their favoured foot - the same goes for the wingbacks. The philosophy of Total Football is also given priority in Shirakiin's system, and Mizuyuki's players will regularly switch positions during open play, so a wingback may appear in the forward line, and a striker might track back to defend while leaving a winger up front as an auxiliary forward.

Map

Tourist's Handbook:

1) Where is Maklohi Vai and how do I get there?
Maklohi Vai is an island group, comprising an archipelago and a truncated volcanic chain, located in southeast Atlantian Oceania. There are ferries to some other nations in AO, but those are long rides typically unsuitable for tourists. The best way to get to Maklohi Vai is by plane, most likely through Kolo Lahi International Airport. From there, there are connecting flights, roads, ferries, or trains to all other destinations in the country.

2) Will I be able to communicate with the locals?
Maklohi Vai is a bilingual nation, with 98% of the citizenry knowing both Vaian and English. Highly educated people, no matter their field, will typically learn one or two more languages, often an East Asian language (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.) or a major Romance language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, etc.). Those working in cultural and historical fields often learn Siroyese and Samoan as well. If none of these meet your language, there are translators available at all visitor information centers and major tourist destinations.

3) Where can I stay?
There are numerous hotels and smaller hostels in and around every city. The Vaian economy is largely built on tourism, so there’s plenty of options in many places. If you need help, you can contact the National Tourism Bureau.

4) What and where can I eat?
Like hotels, restaurants and cafes are abundant in cities and along highways linking the cities. In the more tourist heavy sections of the country, as well as those more metropolitan areas, cuisine is global, encompassing a number of options from nearly any place you can think of. If you’re looking for a trendy bite, try out a Vaian fusion restaurant, the new kids on the scene. If you’re off the beaten path in other parts of the country, you’re likely to find the local cuisine more frequently. This consists largely of fish and other seafood, tropical fruit, a multitude of spices, and various root vegetables like taro.

5) Are there any religious services available?
Yes, although they may be hard to find. Maklohi Vai is 94% atheist, with the remaining 6% being almost entirely Christian, mainly Mormon and Catholic. As such, it’s not hard to find those places of worship if you’re in a big city. There are a few other Protestant denominational churches in Kolo Lahi and Totai, a mosque in Kolo Lahi, and a synagogue in Wakita.

6) What cultural norms should I observe?
Vaians are very friendly, welcoming people. If they see you looking around lost, they’ll come over and help. If they see you looking very much like a tourist on the street, they’ll wave and say hello, a gesture which you should return. It is considered impolite to not accept an offer of hospitality such as a ride to where you’re going or another offer of assistance. Do not try to pay those who help you, as this is typically embarrassing; it is better to give a sincere thanks and a warm handshake.

7) Will I be safe?
There is little to no daylight crime whatsoever, especially not in tourist areas. Likewise, if you’re going to a restaurant or bar and there are a lot of other people around, you will be perfectly safe. If you must be out at night alone, it’s safe on major roads and in the downtowns of cities. The danger lies in the rural parts of the country, off the main roads. There are opportunist theives who are not afraid to strip you of your belongings before letting you go. Murder and violent crime rates are extremely low.

8) What health services are available?
The nationalized healthcare system admits foreign patients free of charge for a one time ER visit. If you enter a hospital, costs are subsidized heavily, but do expect a bill. Ambulances run with great speed, as do the police. Dial 444 on any phone to get services.

9) Are there sensitive politics that I should avoid?
If you are not a native of Maklohi Vai or otherwise very well acquainted with its political situation, it is considered bad form to make disparaging remarks against government officials. Mild criticism is acceptable, although not warmly welcomed, and if you voice strong opinions contrary to the present political situation, be prepared for a debate. Vaians love to talk politics and love even more to engage in a intellectual debate about it, especially with someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about. It is best to not be that person.

10) How is the civil rights situation?
Maklohi Vai is ranked highly internationally for civil rights, and all people are accepted regardless of any preference, with one major exception: religious fundamentalists. The Mormon population in other countries may be known for their proselytizing, but in Maklohi Vai they stay quiet for a good reason: Over 3/4 of the country identifies as anti-fundamentalist and anti-religious activism. If you hold particularly strong religious beliefs, do not share them out loud, let alone try to persuade others of them. This is a very good way to make a Vaian’s good charm flip to the opposite emotion. Besides this, there is almost no reason to be scared because of who you are.

The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri
Official Roster for World Cup 69

Image

Nation Background

A semi-autonomous territory of the Celestial Empier of Mizuyuki, Kazamatsuri is a relatively new nation, having only been formed through a secession of a number of Mizuyuki's island colonies from its local administration a year previously. However, this change is said in political circles to be merely cosmetic, as the Celestial Empire remains in de facto control over the entire island chain in the prefecture due to the "revolutionaries" being unable to gain international recognition as a sovereign country.

Mizuyuki's comparatively overwhelming military might cast a shadow over Kazamatsuri. Following months of negotiations between the Executive COmmittee of Mizuyuki and the revolutionaries, the island chain of Kazamatsuri was officially made a protectorate of Mizuyuki, formally The Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri, Protectorate of the Celestial Empire of Mizuyuki. However, a clause exists in the official treaty that compromises Kazamatsuri's already insignificant "independence"; Mizuyuki retains the right to revoke their protectorate status and reintegrate Kazamatsuri into their territories without notice. That being the case, however, during her opening speech at an official ceremony held at Kizuna Kyūden (絆宮殿) to recognise Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of the Celestial Empire, Mizuyukian diplomats reassured the leaders of Kazamatsuri that there were no plans to sanction such a revocation of their status in the near future.

Soon afterwards, a puppet government of the Celestial Empire was put into place; the leaders of the revolution were given nominal positions in the newly formed Kazamatsuri cabinet, which is known as The Committee of Judgment (判決委員会), Hanketsu Iinkai, (Judgment for short) while a loyalist of the Mizuyuki administration, Tonoya Akira (殿谷 明), the sister of Mizuyukian Executive Committee member Tonoya Jin (殿谷 仁) was installed as the Mizuyukian High Commissioner in Kizuna. She is set to continue presiding over the Scattered Isles for the foreseeable future.

Note - On 20 November 2013, the Scattered Isles of Kitsuneshima was officially renamed the Scattered Isles of Kazamatsuri.

Team Background

A group of ragtag professionals that originally held Mizuyukian citizenship, the members that make up Kazamatsuri's team are footballers that defected to Kazamatsuri following the Treaty of Kizuna that officially declared Kazamatsuri as a protectorate of Mizuyuki in protest of the decision. They claim that the formation of Kazamatsuri as a protectorate and not a fully independent country is unlawful, and thus chose to protest the decision by claiming Kazamatsurian citizenship and playing for their hatchling national team. However, since the Treaty of Kizuna holds that all citizens of Kazamatsuri are, by extension, citizens of Mizuyuki, this move was also criticised by many as ineffectual and merely a plea to garner attention.

RP injuries to my players Y, but not to serious
Godmod injuries to my players Y, but please don't cripple them
Hand out yellow cards to my players Y, but not excessively
Hand out red cards to my players Y, but not too often
Godmod other events Y, make it funny. As you may have notice Kalumba has a wee bit of a hooligan problem so feel free to mention that

And the team:

Manager: George Davies- Resigned from the first team after a very disappointing start to the World Cup 56, which he deemed disgraceful for a team who had just won the Baptism of Fire, but has since returned to the side. Hoping to rebuild Kalumba's international reputation after a long period away from competition and a decent showing at the last few WCs. Has opted to leave a number of veterans behind for this campaign and place Kalumba's future in the exciting hands of youth, who made a decent showing at the last outing and of whom great things are expected.

First Team Coach: Magnus Malan- Led the team throughout the last World Cup without much success but he did record a notable victory against highly rated Newmanistan, and suffered only narrow defeats to teams in the top 25 in the world. Very defensive minded and his approach led the team to be nicknamed 'The Tortoises'.

Goalkeepers:
Ulusu Mtanda-No.1 23 year old novice, looking to make his debut this time out. Part of the Kahali Spears team which is taking the Kalumban League by storm, and holds a new clean sheet record after going 14 games unbeaten this season.
Frank Burnden-No.67 42 year old veteran keeper, useful back up option. Will not expect to start but will most probably be on the bench to cover for the young keeper in case of injury.
Peter Franks-No.41 23 year old rookie, first selection for the team. Missed out on going to the Di Bradini cup by 2 months, so will be hoping to play a few games to secure his position as long term successor to Ottbourne and to unseat Mtanda. May play in less crucial group games or when Kalumba are knocked out. Still strugging to fulfill his early potential.

Defenders:
LB-Derek Ward, 29 year old truck driver, stupid but effective No. 12 Recently banned from driving for Drink-Driving, will be hoping to secure a place at a foreign club team to provide him with an income.
LCB-Vincent Mkure, 19 year old, member of the Kahali Spears No. 14 Built like the proverbial ox this young man has a long career ahead of him at the heart of Kalumba's defence. And such is his maturity he is already being spoken of as a future captain.
LCB-Duncan Edward, 22 year old, pretty boy, but solid at the back No. 4 Recently married with a child will his mind be fully on the World Cup?
RCB-Kaneu Daima, 22 year old, 6 foot 9, deadly in the air No. 6 Last minute inclusion ahead of the injured Von Harniggen, but his displays for Kahali this season warrant an inclusion anyway.
RCB-Norman Baker, 28 year old bank manager, great slide tackler No. 5 Castigated in the news for losing his bank a large amount of money speculating on the stock market, will try to rebuild his reputation.
RB-James Downs, 39 year old ex-rugpy prop forward, solid but no agility whatsoever No. 3 Recently dropped from his Rugby team so is looking to football for his wage.
RB-Frank Ruyten, 23 year old civil servant, very fast but poor crossing ability No. 19 Has worked on his crossing but still struggles to fulfill his promise as an attacking fullback.

Midfielders:
LM-Peter Kurtz, 25 year old full time proffesional footballer No. 21 Still struggling for form but has improved at the World Cup scoring twice and creating another couple for Kalumba.
LM-James Fish, 19 year old protege No. 9 Still a protege, retained for the first team instead of the U21s so Davies clearly intends to play him.
CM-Ollie Roberts, 24 year old model and dancing champion No. 18 First high profile homosexual in Kalumba. Has moved to Southern Cynocephali to play proffesionally and be open with his sexuality.
CM-Gabriel Danukwe, 20 year old Kahali Spears strong man No. 16 An old fashioned enforcer, Danukwe will have to watch his discipline.
CM -Laurence Kabila, 20 year old Kahali Spears creative midfielder No. 15 Picked up 23 assists this season and is seen as a major part of the future of Kalumban football.
CAM -Ben Cheeter, 23 built like an arab donkey but with the shot of an angry mule No. 27 Didn't impress at either the BoF or the last WC but still integral to the team as he links the midfield to the strikers.
CDM- Godwin Kuli, 19 year old sweeper for Kahali Spears No. 17 Despite the unfashionability of the position this young man has played it with aplomb and will hope to reproduce such form for the national side.
RM-Jameson Slutei, 23 year old and rapid No. 33 Lucky to get in the team, but an injury to Abouto left the position open and Slutei will look to make it his own.
RW-Jermaine Filks, 33 year old great crosser of the ball No. 11 Due to Abouto's excellence has yet to feature but has worked on his left sided play in hope of getting a starting position.

Strikers:
RS- Roland Grezlak, 28 year old, 6 foot strong as an ox No. 8 Came on to score many a crucial goal, will be looking for me involvment this time round.
RS- Anthony Peters, 23 year old, youngster but top scorer last season No. 99 Barely featured but did score our second goal in the BoF final. Will be looking to break into the team on a regular basis.
LS-Piet Von Kruger, 21 year old, second striker for Kahali spears No. 21 An excellent partner for Watusi, if they can recreate their club form they will be a feature for years to come in the Kalumban national team.
CF- Peterson Watusi, 17 year old, 20 goal hero for Kahali Spears No. 10 His goals have won him the place of veteran Kevin Davis, it is hoped the pressure won't overwhelm the young man.
CF- Craig Garden, 28 year old, reliable but not much skill No. 93 Another non-starter and like Malone will struggle to record a further cap to his collection of seven.

Manager
Vamariiel Falavir (F) ~
Age: 1099
Falvir's contributions to Vanorian football and the rise of Ibini FC under her management have landed her the spot as the manager of the national team. She became the first Vyintanese to ever hold the office and to many is seen that anything is possible for anyone residing within the commonwealth. Tactically, she prefers a possessive game with probing from wingers and the midfielders, which suits the player strengths of Valanora, with a history of superb attacking midfielders. Her appointment brout a lot of excitement back to Vanorian football and has been seen as a major cultural moment for the entire commonwealth, especially with the success of guiding the Marauders to the Final of the AOCAF in her first cycle in charge, and the Semis in the World Cup. Her second cycle in charge saw the abject failure of the Marauders for the first time not advancing out of the group, yet just weeks later, winning their first ever AOCAF on home soil, the victory securing her the job one more cycle on the job.

Assistant Manager
Polennoion Mitheththor
Age: 1513
Polennoion was an odd choice to be Falavir's right hand man, considering that his squads have never done more than what is expected of them. Granted that being the manager of AC Valanari had never been an easy challenge for him, but there were other options with a better pedigree to choose from. His ability to keep the squad disciplined even when there were signs of tension during the last campaign proved his worth and why Falavir picked him to be the assistant.

Keeper

1 Aediron Galadirdren, Ibini FC
Age - 673
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 174 lbs
Galadirdren looks to be the long term solution for the Marauders in net after several stellar seasons in the domestic scene with Ibini FC. While not loud and "in control" of his box, the keeper is very good when the opposition has a breakaway, as well as some amazing reflexes. His best attribute though is his near perfect position, always seeming to know where the opposition is going to place their shots or crosses.

Defenders

2 Vanacauion Haelinde, Raynor City United
Age - 683
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 168 lbs
A versatile defender who is quick for his size and good with his feet. Can be an attacking threat not only on set piece situations but also deliver good through balls and crosses when he does venture forth.

3 Aearost Tinueme, Raynor City United
Age - 610
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 166 lbs
With the failures of the backline the past few editions, the new managerial staff decided that pairing Haelinde with his club teammate on the national team seemed the best idea. Tinueme unlike Haelinde is a stay at home centerback, looking to disrupt opponents play with a combination of pace, strength and solid positioning. He is a manger's dream of a centerback.

4 Urúvcion Kinarthir, Ibini FC~
Age - 584
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 166 lbs
Part of what makes up a very formidable defense in the Premiership, Kinarthir is a mobile defender who while natural in center of the park, can also operate on the wings. A good passer and crosser of the ball and will have to pick their moments to attack cautiously with the reliance of the centerbacks on the national team for the majority of the defensive assignments.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, Yuba United (Paripana)
Age: 749
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Aintôrthea Durosa, Raynor City United
Age - 758
Sex - F
Height: 5"10"
Weight: 144 lbs
Durosa is one of those players that can play just about any position, as her skill set is vast and adequate in multiple areas. She developed her skills in her CMSC seasons, nabbing goals and assists with regularity and continued with her transfer to the Cafundeu league. She translated that wealth of experiences into solid form and was named captain to her side in Astograth, with hope that this recognition raises her play for the national team. Her good knowledge of va Drake's typical playing patterns has made the two to be a devastating pair for the opposition to contain.

14 Laborious Hawk, Hondo FC
Age - 713
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Merenwen Lúinwë, Hondo FC
Age - 679
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 152 lbs
Lúinwë is not really an exceptional talent, not compared to the rest of the midfielders on the side. What she is though is very hard working and disclinplined. Don't let her small statue fool you, she will get stuck in with the best of them and can also spring an attack with well placed through balls. All in all, a player who will fill their role well but likely not exceed it, but with Hawk, Soldarian, and va Drake around her, that's all she will need to do.

7 Faeron Soldarian, Raynor City United
Age - 627
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 502
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco will once again have to learn to play off a new strike partner with Isiliéseil being recognized for his exceptionally play in the domestic league and given a spot straight into the starting eleven. By now Fresco is a known commodity, strong in the air with a pretty decent shot, the vision to create when asked upon. With both of the forwards very comfortable playing with the ball in their feet rather than one being a poacher, you can expect them to rotate their positions, along with Hawk, to create a fearsome attacking spearhead trio that will be difficult for many managers to come up with a plan to stop.

10 Sellien Isiliéseil, Hondo FC ~
Age - 684
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 162 lbs
Sellien is a big lad who can play the hold up game when called upon. However he prefers to slink back into the attack, get the ball, and take a run at players with his great dribbling skill. With a cracker for a shot, he's been known to pepper the goal from even forty-five yards away, though accuracy of those shots can sometimes be a problem.

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. In the Sanctii version of the 4-2-1-3 formation, the outside backs also function as outside midfielders. Prince Andreas is the twin brother of Prince Josephus, the goalie and captain for the Saintland ice & field hockey team and younger brother of King Petrus XX, quarterback and captain for Saintland's gridiron team (and also the new King of Saintland). He is the team captain and also functions as the team's playmaker. Ioannes and Nicolaus Poenius are brothers, as are Silvester, Paulus and Josephus Flaccus, Stephanus and Philippus Vagionius, Petrus and Isaacus Barrius and Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Inventius is a defensive-minded midfielder. Georgius Catiotus is married to Martha Catiotus (maiden name: Pudentilla), the figure skater from Saintland, who won the gold medal at the VIII Winter Olympics. Both Mr. and Mrs. Catiotus competed at the IX Winter Olympics, against the wishes of Prince Andreas, so Georgius Catiotus has been benched for World Cup 68. Stephanus Vagionius is not an especially fast player, but he is very tall and he is an exceptional finisher. Philippus Vagionius is faster than his brother and just as good at finishing. Herakles Karoki, an Acedonian national who was granted Sanctii citizenship prior to World Cup 66, is the star striker and an all-around dominant player. Karoki led the Saintland-Acedonia Unified Team to an Olympic gold medal at the Games of the VIII Olympiad, with a dominant performance and then led the Sanctii National Team to a successful World Cup 66 qualifying campaign. The Poenius brothers both have world-class speed. When Saintland attacks, typically Prince Andreas has possession of the ball and the Vagionius brothers, the center midfielders and the outside backs all try to get open inside the box, but 1 or 2 of them will usually be left back to defend (never Stephanus Vagionius), except when the situation calls for an aggressive attack. Prince Andreas takes free kicks, corners and throw-ins. Karoki will handle penalties. When I have started RPing a match report, I will update my factbook to reflect what happened in the match. I will likely be saving full match report RPs for special occasions from now on.

Saintland boycotted World Cup 67 qualifying, ostensibly over "corruption" in the WCC, but actually because they had no desire to go to either Cassadaigua or the Equestrian States. After Feministvs Sanctvsterra, impersonating this team, earned a Cup of Harmony berth, they decided to end their one-nation boycott and take the spot that had been earned on their behalf. They eventually reached the Round of 16 before being eliminated by Ko-oren.

After the ascension to the Throne of King Petrus XX, he reached out to Josephus Flaccus. Flaccus had defected Saintland following World Cup 65 qualifying and became a star in New Sideburn's domestic league. King Petrus XX worked out a deal for him to return to the Saintland National Team. This led to Saintland's most successful World Cup ever, which concluded with a Round of 16 defeat to Polar Islandstates. That was followed up with a Round of 16 exit from their first Copa Rushmori, at the hands of Taeshan.

WEST ANGOLAN WORLD CUP 69 ROSTER:

Image

West Angola trimmed the dead weight from World Cup 67, and performed markedly better in the 68th edition, although they fell just short of qualifying. Having debuted several fresh faces to complement the players who made their first splash in the pond last time around, West Angola returns that squad to compete for the Cup of Harmony. The expanded coaching staff took some of the pressure off Phillip Garren and Isaac Warren, and now as the two legends of West Angolan football prepare for retirement, this cycle will see an ever-greater share of the responsibility pass to the (relatively) younger members of the staff to take on full coaching duties.
COACHING STAFF:

Head Coach: Phillip Garren- The original squad's keeper, Garren was injured in an auto accident the night after the first match of Baptism of Fire 45. He was unable to continue playing, but has remained as the team's head coach ever since the assassination of Peter Warren. Garren has announced he will retire following this Cup, as he will top 80 years during the second leg of qualifying and wishes to wind down his life in peace.
Age: 79

Assistant Coach: Isaac Warren- A forward for the team since the beginning, Warren was kidnapped and poisoned during World Cup 61. He was nearly killed, and the chemicals ravaged his body beyond condition for football. Warren is now the team's assistant coach, while he is almost twenty years younger than Garren chronologically, the effects of the poison on his then-young body have robbed many years from him, and he will follow his mentor and friend in retirement following this Cup, leaving the coaching duties to the next generation of footballers.
Age: 63

Attacking Coach: Luke Parrish- Parrish is synonymous with football in West Angola, having played for the team since its inception (excepting a brief period where he became King). As West Angola's most prolific and powerful forward, Parrish hung up his cleats for the second time after World Cup 67, and now seeks to teach the next generation to follow in his footsteps. He has been tapped as Garren's replacement, and this Cup will see Garren cede small amounts of responsibility to Parrish as he grooms him for the role.
Age: 62 (Biologically 44)

Defensive Coach: Jan Pawel- Pawel has been both a midfielder and a defender in his career, and over the course of Phillip Garren's shifting strategies, has played nearly everywhere on the pitch at one point or another, at one point even filling the crucial role of transitioning from the 4-4-2 to the 4-2-4 on the attack. Garren and the Sporting Ministry are hoping that that versatility can be taught, as some embarrassing defensive results from Pawel's first qualifying campaign have cast doubts over the young coach's ability to pass on his skills to the younger generation.
Age: 38

Keeper's Coach: Blake Green- Green was a suitable replacement to Jacob Kerys, as he was slightly less talented but made up for it by being vastly more consistent, which helped relieve pressure from West Angola's defense. With West Angola's keeper, Alex Birke, retaining his starting job, the Ministry is still relying on Green to help keep the young keeper focused and controlled in his second tournament. The second key focus of the tournament will be Holden Barr, who will be serving as the backup keeper and is one of the most dynamic forces in the West Angolan Football League. Birke may find himself relieved of starting duties if his performance suffers, especially with such a prolific player waiting in the wings.

Here is the Gregoryisgoidstan soccer team's roster. Our team is nicknamed the Foot Slaves. Our style modifier is -5

Coach: Retired Soldier Commander Lieutenant Warlord McBurgerKing (Age 40, 9/11/1973) Former midfielder for the national team in WC 66 and WC 67.

Note: All birthdays listed in the "Gregorian Calendar", which Lord Almighty Gregory claims to have invented, hence it bears his name. But it is just the regular Gregorian calendar, with certain changes (read on for more.) All dates are MM/DD/YYYY. Note that in Gregoryisgodistan, the year changes on June 1, rather than January 1, so January 1, 2013 follows December 31, 2013, and is equivalent to January 1, 2014 in other calendars.
As of World Cup 69, the Gregoryisgodistani Year is the same as the standard year (2014) but any birthdates between January 1 and May 31 will be a year later in the standard calendar than they are listed.

Gregoryisgodistani names have the title first, which is usually whatever job they have. Then comes either the government ID sequence (for commoners) or the name (for government VIP's.) If that is the same, they are the same person even if the title is different. However, government VIPs can change their name whenever they want.

All players play domestically in the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League.

Lineup:

GK Prune Farmer 3818F (Age 19, 12/30/1994) - Prune Farmers FC

OOC: If you don't get the hacker reference, see this comic. If you still don't get it, entering that name as a database input in certain programming languages will delete all the rosters from the file. Feel free to RP this crashing your computers or something like that. By the way, Fred's younger brother, Hacker John'); DROP TABLE Rosters;-- is on the junior hockey team.

Uniforms (by Libertad Sportswear):

From left to right, our home kit, our away kit, and our third kit (in case of clash.)

Due to the Wolfopian terrorist attack (OOC: a Gregoryisgodistani false flag) on Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium, Gregoryisgodistan will play their home games at 617 Stadium. 617 Stadium is the home stadium of FC 17 June, the two-time defending champion of the Gregoryisgodistan Soccer League. In fact, no other team has ever won the GSL. It is the second-largest stadium in Gregoryisgodistan after Lord Almighty Gregory National Stadium. It is located in District 7, Ward 10. Note that Ward 10 is a subdivision of District 7, not the other way around. 617 Stadium seats 35,000 fans, expandable to 45,000 for major events. It is unlikely, however, that it will be expanded for the World Cup qualifying.

RP Permissions: Basically, do whatever you want but expect reciprocation. If you card my players, I'll card yours. If you kill my players, I'll kill yours. Just don't kill Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state and alleged deity. Also, if you are going to refer to my nation by a different name for IC reasons (like Gregoryisnotgodistan) please either TG me or leave an OOC note saying you are referring to Gregoryisgodistan. I frequently search for mentions of my nation, but if it's not mentioned by name, that doesn't help. So either mention it by name in an OOC note or TG me to give me a heads up. You don't need to wait for permission with the TG, but please send it so I can respond to the RP. Also, striking out the "isgod" part (as in Gregoryisgodistan) causes it to not show up on the search, so this will not fulfill the notification requirement. However, feel free to use that style as long as you either mention me by name without the strikethrough in the same post or TG me to let me know about the post.

Team Recap

KEEPERS

Henry McNeal- #1 - 27
Jared Finch- #2 - 30
Jared A. Finch- #3 - 22

McNeal: Ex-star goalie on the U-21 squad that placed in the round of sixteen in their first Di Bradini Cup. McNeal allowed seven goals in five games to teams that were probably better, which is pretty good. McNeal has grown into one of the world's best keepers, giving up just over a goal a game at the qualifiers last time around and holding the Vaporeons of the Northern Sunrise Islands to a single goal in a 2-1 group stage victory.
Finch: Super-athletic backup was barely edged out by McNeal for the starting spot. He excels in getting to the ball, but it's hard to say whether or not he can hold onto it. He seemed to do well in some friendlies against low-level competition, but who doesn't?
Younger Finch: Fresh out of the U-21 team, Finch is here to collect experience and that only. As he's a little injury-prone, the coaching staff will go to great lengths to ensure he never steps foot on the field, partially because they don't want to risk injuries, also because having two guys named Jared Finch on the pitch at once is confusing. He's the best in Llamaland at blocking penalties though, so if they somehow get to penalty kicks, you'll probably see Finch. Changed his last name from Carter shortly after making the team, probably to screw with officials. Is sort of a rebel.

Defense

Left Back- Justin Allen - #6 - 31
Center Back- Ryan Reagan - #9 - 28
Center Back- Jordan Valdevic - #19 - 22 (sometimes Agudieres, feel free to decide this but Valdevic plays most of the time)
Right Back- Derrick Nelson - #5 - 27 (CAPTAIN)

Backup- Curtis Appel - #96 - 24
Backup- Paul Peters - #65 - 26
Backup- Javier Agudieres - #8 - 23

Allen: Top-notch player on the B team whose athleticism and tackling make up for his total lack of ball movement. Has lost a step but he's still fast enough to keep his starting job for one last cycle.
Reagan: Dominant U-21 player graduated early to the B-team. A jack of all trades who could be one of the fastest players in the world, especially now that he's in his prime.
Valdevic: Attacking defender has the endurance to play like a defensive halfback and still come out fine.
Nelson: Defensive linchpin, vocal leader, ex-captain of U-21 team, could've easily made it to WC 67 had he not tore an ACL. All-around stud recovered quickly to get back on the U-21 team for "recovery", conveniently leading defensive to the Ro16 in the process. Has the potential to be a superstar, still not the best attacker but great at clearing it upfield under pressure, as well as pretty much everything else, especially that leadership.
Appel: Athletic, decent tackler, but seems to permanently be a step away from consistency. Still hasn't ironed out flaws in his coverage, making him easy to exploit.
Peters: Brilliant dribbler who can take it to midfield before passing it. Ex-forward who couldn't shoot moves his athleticism and meh tackling skills here (he is a converted striker, rare in the world of Llamanean soccer but more common than you might think)
Agudieres: Fantastic coverage, seems to anticipate passes at will and get there, not the best stamina, fair tackler, specializes on getting the ball and giving it a good kick to midfield.

MIDFIELDERS

Left- Kyle Sturgeon - #31 - 25
Center- Alex Cartwright - #10 - 23
Attacking- Alex Ford - #11 - 26
Right- Jake Wiggins - #5 - 26

Backup- Anthony Player - #16 - 21
Backup- Jefferson Marquez - #25 - 27
Backup- Lou Canamic - #44 - 27

Sturgeon: Laid-back playmaker with great speed in short bursts. Three-sport athlete in high school.
Ford: Fantastic shooter, can put a shot on goal from anywhere, crafty with shot placement. Loves attacking, tends to receive passes instead of pass them.
Wiggins: Crafty playmaker, shooting not his specialty but he can okay if needed. Great, athletic passer, can move into the box and let loose a header if need be.
Cartwright: The Next Trevor Duncan, although a hyped-up Jared Mullin could be a better comparison. Venomous attacker shattered records by making U-15 team at 11, U-21 team at 15 ,and B-team at 17. Brilliant in the box and powerful, although not the most accurate, from long range.
Player: A good all-around midfielder, potential to be a consistent third or fourth option, U-21 star, likes to pass, often indecisive but when he shoots, look out.
Marquez: Athletic and versatile, can do anything but finish, spark plug in the box, brilliant dribbler, good teammate.
Canamic: They said he wasn't ready, so he rotted on the B-team for six years after a promising Di Bradini Cup last cycle. It remains to be seen whether he'll be a better teammate after such experience, or whether he'll play like he did at the thirtieth Di Bradini Cup, taking every pass and dribbling into the box to shoot, which usually doesn't work. He'll probably end up as a last-ditch sub.

STRIKERS

Left- Peter Masters - #21 - 24
Right- Jacob Brennaman - #18 - 25

Backup- Michael McKenzie - #34 - 22
Backup- Angel Raymond - #36 - 24

Masters: Attacker, shoot-first striker, introverted, willful, and passionate. Great speed but passing is not in his makeup.
Brennaman: Does all of the little things and also big things as well. Great playmaker in the box. Gets worse progressively as you take him away from there. Called for offsides far too often.
McKenzie: Tactically brilliant, good shooter and playmaker. Not the most athletic but more than compensates, although he did miss a game and a half while gaining .gif fame by choking on a grape seed during halftime.
Raymond: Underrated and outspoken, thinks he should be starting, historically the third fiddle to Masters and Brennaman. When he's playing instead of sulking, he's a decent playmaker on the fringes of the box, good at outfoxing the keeper on a penalty kick and bending the ball but not the best striker. If he can improve his attitude and play, including less fouls, he could become a starting striker and consistent player.

Timbermunich Soccer Squad
Hardwoods

Background
The Lumberjacks or Jacks, as they are often called, that make up the Hardwoods’ roster are a brawny bunch plucked from the limbs of Great TimberOaks which stand deep within the Great Timbermunich Forest. These Great TimberOaks are massive trees that make up the central portion of the Great Timbermunich Forest, the trees stand at nearly 424 meters tall with trunks that can reach upwards of 32 meters in diameter. It is said that these Lumberjacks once selected spend their entire life within the Great Timbermunich Forest. To be a Jack in Timbermunich is a great honor and they are now selected by The Great Battle Axe while still in utero. They are tasked with guarding the Great Timbermunich Forest from all harm (natural or otherwise) starting at their birth and continuing to their death, that is if they actually do die as no one has ever witnessed a Jacks death nor has a Jacks body ever been discovered void of life they seem to vanish from existence once they reach an estimated 250 years of forest protection. It is also said that each of the Great TimberOaks has a single Jack to watch along with the shared duty over the rest of the Great Timbermunich Forest. If true this would mean that there are approximately 450 thousand Jacks, there are also nearly 100000 trees (multiple genomes) per living Timbermunichers (everyday folks: 50 million) so there are a great number of trees to watch over.

You may be asking what this has to do with a soccer team, well you see the Jacks get a small senescence in which they are able to leave the Great Timbermunich Forest and they choose to play sports during this abscission time. Much of the lore around the Jacks seems to indicate this is their final farewell before vanishing from the forest. It is unknown if a Jack gets more than one senescence or not, we have seen some Jacks on more than one cycles roster, but since the legends are not written down we don’t know if this is due to the length of ones senescence or if they have more than one. They do seem to stick with the more strength and power sporting events, which we attribute to their physical stature and strength. After all they spend their entire life wielding one or sometimes two Double Bit Great Felling Axe, an axe that no normal human can lift. This doesn’t mean we don’t see them in finesse sports; it’s just more common for them to choose physical sports more during their senescence.

Laubholz-Stadion
Great Timbermunich Forest, Timbermunich | Cap: 86,000

Laubholz-Stadion is located south of the Heart of the Grove and just to the north of TimberOak Grove. TimberOak Grove is the capital of the northern region of Timbermunich which the region is called Great Timbermunich Forest. It is close enough that the Heart of the Groves outer rim can be seen, but note that no one other than the Greats can enter the Heart of the Grove. Due to it’s pulsating power shift, the very essence of all life throughout Timbermunich, any none Great that dares to enter the Heart of the Grove is instantly divulged of all fleshy matter and left as just a frozen skeleton at that point in which they chose to enter. So be warned that any travelers to Timbermunich will be closely watched when near Laubholz-Stadion so that they are not harmed by their own curiosity. Timbermunich is also not responsible for anyone that does not heed this warning and dares to test their fate by going near the Heart of the Grove.

Notes

Although they have, technically, never qualified for a World Cup, the Republican National Team enter the 69th World Cup cycle ranked 8th in the KPB rankings and coming off of a second place finish in World Cup 68. While that was regarded as a fluke pretty much everywhere outside of the Free Republics, the Republican National Team does have a track record of success at the youth level. From the 27th through the 29th Di Bradini Cup, this team finished in the top 3 in every edition and won the 28th edition of that prestigious tournament. Now, with the core of that team approaching their respective primes, the Free Republics are one of the most formidable teams in the World Cup and they are always certain to ensure that everybody knows it.

When he first decided to create the Republican National Soccer Team, Rule Theriault decided against using professional athletes on the team, at that time. He decided that it would be next to impossible to convince the best athletes in the Free Republics to put their egos aside for the good of the team. So, he did the next best thing and assembled a team of fringe players and a few stars who fell through the cracks, mostly for off-the-pitch issues. Most prominent among them is Kyle Bolton, once considered one of the most promising soccer prospects in the Free Republics. However, Bolton was expelled from high school and unable to find another school willing to take him in. Rule Theriault signed him up and ended up with a star striker.

The other 2 pieces of the Republican striking trio have stories of their own. Faredin Pozenel was a son of immigrants from the Republican colony of Irad who was overlooked by scouts, in large part because of his background as an immigrant. However, Massimiliano Abdullahi, himself a grandson of immigrants, recognized Pozenel's talent and brought him onto the National Team. Koby Theodore was extremely young and his dedication to the sport was questioned as an amateur, but Theriault saw something in him, took a chance and Kyle Bolton took the young striker under his wing, molding him into a star.

While there are plenty of talented teams in the World Cup, few (if any) can match the team chemistry of the Republican National Team. Theriault has produced a united team and convinced them that they are constantly backed into a corner with the entire multiverse against them. The core of the team has been the same since World Cup 65 and yet they are still a relatively young team, with no players over the age of 24.

When playing away, the Republican National Team will be accompanied by a military escort, for security, and the Republican Navy and Air Force will position some troops near the nation where they are playing. This is done so that the Republican military may invade any nation that attempts to harm Republican players. After the events that took place in World Cup 67 qualifying, Rule Theriault has decided to ensure that it will never happen again. A new addition in this World Cup cycle is the Cheerleading Squad, comprised of 68 cheerleaders (in honor of World Cup 68), which will accompany the Republican National Team to all matches. After each of the first 68 goals scored by the Republican National Team in this cycle, the respectively numbered cheerleader will celebrate with the goalscorer. Every single Republican player, coach, cheerleader and security escort will travel armed, for the sake of security. Expect any attempt to interfere with the entry of any member of the Republican National Team delegation, their right to keep and bear arms or their performance of their duties to be met with an immediate attack from the Republican military.

Rhizome Arena: capacity 125,000|location Zorg, Copperwies
The largest of all association football stadiums in HopNation, Rhizome Arena is a spectacle to be seen. It is an extremely advanced stadium with self regulating weather blockers that open and close based on the current events attendance, sun glare, precipitation, and event type. It’s a two tier style stadium with each seat having a clear view of the field. It has an impressive array of video boards: two main screens, one on each end of the stadium located on the upper level; a continuous screen that separates the lower and upper levels; and other screens spread through the concourse, the main ones for this type being ideally located just outside of each section entrance. This stadium is home to the Phynix of Zorg FC (Zorg FC’s Senior Squad) as well as the official home of the Hops (HopNation’s Association Football National Team).

Manager: Bucky Freezus
Bucky Freezus has to be considered one of the greatest offensive minds in all of soccer. He is a clear innovator that brings so much to the table for Estope. Following Emanuel Inzer's firing, Freezus was the clear choice for his replacement. His experience in high school girl's basketball along with his motivational speaking ability were the keys that led to his hiring. With those traits it was impossible for Brian Monte, head of the Estope Soccer Association, to ignore him. He was officially announced in the Eighth Campionato Esportiva but did not officially begin his role until after it finished. In his first year he had some hardships, but that was expected since he does not yet have his players to fit his high paced style of play. Last cycle the team was much improved, finishing second in the group and advancing to the second playoff. With his highly innovative 1-0-9 formation, he will no doubt have Estope competing for a championship in no time.

Assistant Manager: Ed Ogarchetski
Although Coach O has no prior soccer experience, he is great a evaluating talent and yelling at people. Coach O pulled together some of Estope's greatest athletes to be on this team and is an expert in keeping team motivation up.

Head of Estope Soccer Association: Brian Monte
A true innovator, Monte has explored all aspects of social media and fan involvement. Known for his revolutionary contests where fans get to play with the team and catchy hashtags, Monte is constantly pushing the limits and staying one step ahead of the rest of the competition. He considers the hiring of Bucky Freezus to be his greatest achievement. He has many great ideas for this qualification cycle that he hopes will bring greater fan involvement which will lead to great team success.

Formation: 4-4-2 Diamond most likely, although many can and will be used. See most recent RP.

See spoiler above, which contains the lineups for all my matches, after MD1, the substitutes are up to you.

Staff

Image Hugo Simmons | Team Manager | 64 years old | Athletic Astaria | Male
At 64 years of age, Simmons is the current team manager of Darvale, succeeding Ronald Rusley, who was killed along with the entire first generation of the team in the plane crash that recently took place. Simmons is known to focus mainly on recruiting new players for the team successfully.

Image Dennis Carter | Head Coach | 56 years old | Athletic Teviera | Male
A 56 year old, Dennis Carter has had a long history in football, but he spent the majority of his coaching career in Athletic Teviera, where he still is now. Carter is reputated for his amazing coaching skills, and is adored by fans and the players alike.

Image Wayne Russell | Assistant Coach | 41 years old | Dayton FC | Male
Unfortunately born suffering from an incurable infection in his right-foot, Russell was never able to play football, which was his dream. However, his pure adoration of the sport lead manager Hugo Simmons for recruit him as assistant manager after the plane accident that killed the entire team.

Image Chris Osborne | Assistant Coach | 43 years old | Hudson FC | Male
At 43 years of age, Osborne was chosen to become the second assistant manager randomly, as he was the first person that came to mind after the plane accident that killed the original team.

Players

Goalkeepers

Image Lyndon Holmes | GK | Starter | 26 years old | Grimsby Town FC | Male
At 26 years old, Holmes has quite a lot of experience, currently playing in Grimsby Town FC, the second team of Darvale. Holmes is replacing the deceased Noah Garver, the first goalkeeper of the Darvalian national side. Holmes has never played on an international level, but will be Darvale's first choice for the next World Cup.

Image Hank Switz | GK | Substitute | 26 years old | Athletic Astaria | Male
At 26 years old, Hank Switz is the starting goalkeeper of one of the Darvalian First League's best teams, Athletic Astaria. Although Switz is considered to be 1 of the best goalkeepers in Darvale, especially after clinching the position of starting goalkeeper in Athletic Astaria, but has constantly been in the shadow of Holmes.

Image Jordan Bridges | GK | Substitute | 23 years old | Aveport FC | Male
A rather young goalkeeper, Bridges nonetheless managed to clinch the position of starting goalkeeper in Aveport FC, at only 22 years old. Bridges, like the rest of the team, has absolutely no experience internationally, but can keep calm in dire situations.

Defenders

Image Wade Schultz | LB | Substitute | 25 years old | Hudson FC | Male
Schultz, a 25 year old, is and has been the starting left-back in Hudson FC ever since the club's founding, 2 years ago. He is considered to be the most loyal player to Hudson FC, and has previously said that he will never leave the club. Schultz has good reflexes and sometimes tendencies to play offensively.

Image Cassandra Summers | CB | Starter | 25 years old | Dayton FC | Female
Another 25 year old, Summers was one of the first females to enter the national squad after the female restriction to play on the national team was abolished recently. Summers caught the eye of a recruiter when she was playing on a street in Darvale's capital, Fairbanks.

Image Marlon Fowler | CB | Starter | 27 years old | Dayton FC | Male
Another talented player that was recruited off the streets, Fowler does have a lot of skill in defending, but sometimes has a somewhat urgent need to tackle any striker that attempts to enter the penalty arc, thus earning him the nickname "Fouler".

Image Owen MacGee | RB | Starter | 24 years old | Astaria United FC | Male
The starting right-back in the Darvalian First League's best team, Astaria United FC, MacGee was not chosen for the 68th World Cup because of his relatively young age. The 24 year old, unlike Fowler, almost never tackles, and prefers to block balls or simply steal them with the least possible or without any physical contact at all.

Image Victoria Speares | CB | Substitute | 22 years old | Hudson FC | Female
Another woman in the first generation of Darvalian female players, Reeves was also recruited off the streets of Fairbanks, where she was known for her aggresivity, and was nicknamed "The Bull". Nowadays, she has successfully managed to calm herself down, but can still be quite rough while defending.

Image Jerome Dawson | RB | Substitute | 20 years old | Athletic Teviera | Male
At 20 years old, Dawson should not be underestimated. Almost surreally gifted, Dawson was one of the youngest people to enter the Darvalian First League, and, after a relatively good season in Athletic Teviera, caught the eye of a national team recruiter. Dawson qualified for both the Under 21 national side, where he is the starting right back, and on the actual national side, where he is a substitute right-back.

Central Midfielders

Image Cedric Pearson | MC | Starter | 25 years old | Grimsby Town FC | Male
A midfielder with quite a bit of experience, Pearson was initially a striker when he first started his career, but switched to central midfielder after he realized that the latter suited him better. However, Pearson is almost always still has tendencies to aid the strikers in offensive operations.

Image Steven Bennett | MC | Starter | 26 years old | Grimsby Town FC | Male
At 26 years old, Bennett has a lot of experience in football, having played for Grimsby Town FC ever since his career debut. Bennett, like Pearson, likes to attack, but mainly stays in the midfield. Bennett and Pearson, who make up for the central midfield, know each other very well, as they both play for Grimsby Town FC, and therefore collaborate in both defensive and offensive operations with each other very well.

Image Johnny Robinson | MC | Substitute | 21 years old | Aveport FC | Male
A rather young player, Robinson plays as a starting central midfielder in Aveport FC. Robinson was recruited to the national team recently, but turned down an offer to play for the Under-21 team.

Wingers

Image Amy Lopez | LW | Starter | 23 years old | Wadsworth FC | Female
A rather young female player, Lopez plays in the rather mediocre Wadsworth FC, and it was mainly die to her that the team did not finish last during its first season. Lopez is a very good winger, and is renowned for her incredible speed and agility, and very offensive playstyle. She is also the team's left-corner taker.

Image Lisa Barnes | RW | Starter | 24 years old | Athletic Astaria | Female
Another female player, Barnes has was chosen to be the starting right winger for the national side due to the characteristics she shares with Lopez - incredibly fast, agile, and offensive - perfect for a winger. She is also the team's right corner taker.

Image Louise Turner | RW | Substitute | 20 years old | Athletic Teviera | Female
Even though she is a substitute, Turner should not be underestimated. She is nearly as fast as Barnes and Lopez, and is quite agile. The only reason she isn't a starter is because she has less experience than Barnes and Lopez, who are 2 and 3 years older than Turner respectively.

Strikers

Image Philip Downing | CST | Starter | 25 years old | Athletic Astaria | Male
At 25 years old, Downing is the star striker of the team, and plays for Athletic Astaria. Downing's playstyle is very offensive, and he specializes in 1 on 1 encounters with goalkeepers.

Image Darrell Burns | CST | Starter | 25 years old | Ordbury Athletic | Male
Burns is the other striker of the team, and is rather known as a 6 meter box poacher, bing very sneaky and knowing how to stay onside. Burns usually scores goals from corner kicks or crosses, and his playstyle is less offensive than those of other strikers.

Image Lena Parker | CST | Substitute | 23 years old | Grimsby Town FC | Female
A rather young 23 year old, Parker has been the starting striker for Grimsby Town FC for a year already, despite her relatively young age. At 23, she shows many signs of potential and promise, and will probably replace Burns or Downing when either of them retire.

Home Stadium

The Capital Citadel

Image

Constructed after Darvale's application to enter the 55th Baptism of Fire, The Capital Citadel was finished shortly before the start of the tournament's qualifiers, to show that the nation was competing in football on an international level.

The elaborate patterns on the exterior facade of the stadium took 2 years to make, and the stadium's main architect was Spencer Irvings, who took 2 months to draw out the entire map of the stadium.

The stadium however, is rarely used - the government has forbidden clubs from using the stadium, and it is therefore only used for international matches. Last January alone, the stadium received 6 buying offers from 6 different clubs in the Darvalian First League.

The Capital Citadel is the largest stadium in Darvale, with a capacity of 125,000 spectators. The original plan was to build a stadium to house 100,000 fans, but, after the plans for a direct railroad network to the stadium was cancelled, the money that was supposed to be used for that was transferred to the budget of the building of the stadium itself.

Not seeing what else he could do, architect Irving decided to expand the stadium with the ne money, therefore adding 25,000 more seats.

World Cup 69

Sargossa - 'The Corsairs'

Kit

Home / Away / Keeper
ImageImageImage

Head Coach

Ernesto Farías
Veteran former international striker who formed a key part of Sargossa’s very first national squad. Farías has held numerous roles within the international structure, including two caretaker spells in charge of the senior side. Most recently manager of SuperLiga side Ciudad Soluca before replacing Iarlaith Mag Aonghusa at the Corsairs’ helm after World Cup 67.

Backroom Staff

Assistant Head Coach: Elías Carrasco
Defensive Coach: Germán Moya
Attacking Coach: Rubén Contreras
Goalkeeping Coach: Silvio Romero
Fitness Coach: Sergio Castellanos
Technical Coordinator: Alejandro Echeverría
Team Doctor: Dr Iván Morelli

Talent

GK: 1. Ezequiel Medrán (34) – Sporting San Marquez
Long ago picked out by former national coach Martín Tejera, who knew a thing or two about goalkeeping, as one to watch. Formally undisputed first choice in the Sargossan goal.
GK: 13. Armando Abad (28) – Dínamo Maturín
Talented shot stopper who seems to have forced his way ahead of the veteran Medrán in the national setup. Reads the game well and is quick off his line, a key talent in Farías’ attack-minded strategy.
GK: 25. Emilio León (23) – Sportivo Soluca
A regular in the Sportivo goal at the age of just 19, big things are expected of the young shot stopper.

DR: 2. Cristiano Damían (26) – Dínamo Maturín
Back in the SuperLiga fold after a productive spell in Astograth, the former Ciudad Soluca trainee has found his feet quickly at his new club. A fallback by trade but pushed further forward in the coach’s new look formation.
DRC: 5. Guillermo Lucena (23) – Ciudad Soluca
A favourite of Farías after serving him well in the Under-21 team, the Olympic Squad and at Ciudad. A solid defender with an excellent reading of the game. Equally adept at centreback or fallback.
DC: 6. Matías Sosa (32) – Liria Prizren (Mytannion)
A free scoring centreback whose temperament has been known to get him in a spot of bother. So he probably feels right at home in Mytannion. Despite that slight flaw he captains the national side.
DL: 3. Mauricio Abeyta (25) – Alianza Jucaro
A buccaneering fallback who clearly longs to be a winger. An attacking threat down the left with a powerful shot and accurate cross. Unfortunately his defensive duties are sometimes forgotten.
DLC: 12. Dacio Sanz (25) – Dínamo Maturín
Quick and highly capable when his mind’s on the game but prone to the occasional catastrophic loss of concentration.
DRC: 14. Cristón Espinal (24) – El Nacional
A rightback by trade but often pressed into service in the centre of defensive during an injury crisis in Goza last season. Another former member of Farías’ Olympic Squad.
DLC: 19. Jonás Jacinto (26) – Ciudad Soluca
Made a surprise move from Segunda Liga side Motril to capital city giants Ciudad and hasn’t looked back. Adds a nice balance to Farías new three man defence.
DC: 21: Aurelio Pascual (29) – Sportivo Cordova
Only a dearth of strong centrebacks has kept Pascual out of national team reckoning for this long. But after strong domestic season has finally seen the Cordova man force his way into the squad.

MC: 4. Eduardo Zacarías (22) – Sporting San Marquez
A midfielder with tremendous lung capacity. His box-to-box runs were a key part of Dunas Del Sol’s excellent domestic campaign. Another who has completed a new season move to the Estadio Generalissimo Joaquín Delgado.
AMR: 7. Javier Jerez (33) – Sporting San Marquez
A tricky winger with plenty of technique but a willowy frame that struggles to compete with the game’s more physical practitioners. But still the best supply of crosses in the squad.
MC: 8. Rodrigo Defederico (33) – Dunas Del Sol
A talented midfielder who once had every Sargossan club of stature fighting over his signature before turning down the likes of Sporting San Marquez and Ciudad Soluca to make the move to Astograth. Now back at his first club.
AML: 11. Federico Cifuentés (23) – Dínamo Maturín
It’s entirely possible that Federico could have represented Sargossa at the Olympic 100m, such is the pace hidden away in his diminutive frame. A real terror for opposition fallbacks, although a consistent delivery shy of being genuinely world class.
AMRC: 15. Flavio Freitas (25) – El Nacional
A tireless attacking midfielder whose impressive work rate and never say die attitude make him a firm favourite among Gozans and neutrals alike.
MC: 16. Germán Sauseda (24) – Ciudad Soluca
Midfield playmaker with a prestigious range of passing. Sauseda stood out in a fairly average Porto Alegro Azul side that consistently punched above its weight. Brought to Ciudad by Farías during his spell in charge.
DMC: 18. Mateo Olmedo (24) – Alianza Jucaro
The latest in a long line of talented midfielder anchor-men produced by our mighty archipelago. Prone to nosebleeds if he crosses the halfway line.
DMC: 22. Matías Escobar (31) – Marinos Metropolis (Valladares)
An old fashioned midfield destroyer who can run all day without breaking a sweat. Consistently good performances in the Liga De Fuego led to a move abroad.
AMLC: 24. Ivan Ávila (32) – Ciudad Soluca
A regular understudy for the great Alejandro Echeverría at the Estadio Generalissmo Joaquín Delgado and with the national side. He may have cleared thirty but that ability to thread the ball through the eye of a needle hasn’t faded.

FC: 9. Federico Ferreyra (32) – El Nacional
A penalty area predator who made his name for little Nuevo Onwere before making the move to Astograth. Enjoyed spells at both Gortz Utd and Urbizania Wanderers before being snapped up by the Gozan giants.
FC: 10. Stefano Bustos (27) – Sportivo Soluca
At 6’4” the Sportivo targetman is a real threat in the air and adds the perfect option if ‘hoof it to the big fella’ is required.
FC: 17. Federico Noyola (24) – Sporting San Marquez
Yet another gem unearthed from the barrios of San Marquez and polished by ‘El Academia’. Has an uncanny knack of being in the right place and the right time and has proved a scourge of SuperLiga defences because of it. A natural successor to Ferreyra.
FRC: 20. Saturnín Quinteros (26) – Ciudad Soluca
Big things were expected of a forward who caught the attention with a seventy four goal season for one of Ciudad’s many youth teams. Often used as an attacking midfielder at club level by Farías so more of the same could be expected.
FL: 23. Enzo Jara (21) – Sportivo Soluca
An out-and-out winger who offers pure pace down the flank. Capable of tying opposition defenders up in knots but often lacking composure in the final third.

Style
A high pressing and attacking 3-4-3. Probable starting eleven. Further info can be found here.

Style Modifier = (+4)

Schedule

Big matches are hosted in our rather fancy Nethertopian built 109,000 capacity Estadio Generalissimo Joaquín Delgado in the Sargossan capital of Soluca.

At 62 years of age, Lehmann is the first manager of the Rossanese team after the overthrowing of the Republican rule of Rossana, and the start of the New German Regime. Lehmann is known for his complete lack of facial expressions, making difficult for anyone to tell what he is feeling, a good tactic against opponents. Lehmann originally comes from the city of Göttersdorf, and is the current manager of FC Klausdorf, an average team in the Rossanese First League.

It's time. After a five-cycle hiatus, Camerania is back to see if they can do anything of note in World Cup 69.

Commander's Stadium, Arlnet (80,000) The Stadium of power, settled right near the Mangolana Navy yard, the Commander's Stadium was built as a dedication to Mangolana's military, but specifically, her powerful navy. The stadium originally sat 63,000, but was expanded to 80,000 with Arlnets new stadium sharing deal with fellow Premier league side Soccoroo, who recently signed a 20 year lease with the stadium and the city of Arlnet . The stadium was built by both the city of Arlnet and the Alrnet Soccer Club. The city of Arlnet is also known for its great beaches and its family style environment. Downtown Arlnet, is also not designed like a big downtown, with many of the original Arlnet Businesses still inhabiting the stores they opened with when the city became first incorporated. Though the club Arlnet was relegated and finished last in the Premier League this season, more than half of their matches and all of Soccoroo's matches were sell-out, which shows the love and passion for the sport in the area.

Roster

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Martin Anghelescu - Bayern-Algaer (Taeshan) 7 Caps, 26 Years Old
Anghelescu has one campaign under his belt in goal for Antoletia, and a rather impressive season in the Taeshani premier league behind him. He is starting to coming into his own for club, perhaps he can come into it for his nation. He didn’t manage to propel the ants to a third straight world cup, but many did not see them qualifying anyways, now their hopes are higher than they have been in years.

23 - Edgar Haralamb - Mt Ceabring Thunder (Taeshan) 0 Caps, 18 Years Old
Hagi will once again be the third string keeper.

24 - Luca Hagi - Whilliumiborough Swagger(Paradystopia) 1 Cap, 22 Years Old
Hagi will be back again as the second string in goal, and will hopefully start a few games to show his talents to some more prestigious club squads in the world.

DEFENDERS
2 - LB, Virgil Cobacaru - Real Atlantea (Taeshan) 27 Caps, 26 Years Old
One of the big bright spots in the last qualifiers was speedy left back Virgil Cobacaru who runs and runs and doesn’t seem to stop. He is a catalyst for the Fire Ant offense and can be a real game changer when he is on his game.

3 - LCB, Percival Devine – Atlantea Hurricanes (Taeshan) 31 Caps, 25 Years Old
Replacing Sheyenne Augustini on the back line is touted Center Back Percival Devine who had to wait an extra cycle to see a starting spot, but will now be leading the back line.

4- RCB, Franklyn Hopkins - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 1 Caps, 20 Years Old
The big question on the back line will be Franklyn Hopkins. With only 1 appearance in the national jersey the young center back will have to grow up quickly alongside other new starter, Devine. With the young age of the two fullbacks many feel the defensive four could be either a hindrance, or a strong surprise in the coming season.

7- RB, Decebal Funar - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 18 Caps , 1 Goal, 22 Years Old
Funar showed in the previous qualifiers why he beat out Devine for the starting spot on the outside, not because of his speed, but his ability to play defense against speedy wingers and his ability to spot a running attacker with a nice through ball. Hopefully the young stud continues to show his promise in the upcoming qualifiers.

12 - DF, Eugen Gabor - Fadron Flight (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 18 Years Old
Gabor is a useable fullback who could see the field in more defensive approached substitutions.

17 - DF, Marius Lupin - Unattached 0 Caps, 16 Years Old
One of the new defensive players is young outside back Marius Lupin who could perhaps see some action as the best speedy defender option.

21 - DF, Oliver Dalca - Unattached 0 Caps, 17 Years Old
The main center back option on the bench is young Oliver Dalca, who will like started Franklyn Hopkins have to learn how to play internationally very quickly.

MIDFIELDERS

5 - LM, Gheorghe von Leeweonheouck - Unattached 145 Caps, 43 Goals, 30 Years OldCaptain
Gheorghe might have more than one cup left in him, but many see this as his chance to get one bigger club gig before the end of his career. With the collapse of Ituributa and its league system within Astograth, von Leeweonheouck, the Antoletian captain, is out of a job and looking to impress.

8 - CAM, Remus Robideau - Tintown Terrapins (Taeshan) 19 Caps, 2 Goals, 23 Years Old
Robideau has managed to keep his job after a rather pedestrian season in qualifiers. That said many believe that adding his twin Constantine will really make him shine and help the team overall.

9 - CDM, Raphael - Thunchester City (Northern Sunrise Islands) 75 Caps, 12 Goals, 27 Years Old
Raphael is back for more action and looking to help lead the team to some international success from his deep lying playmaker position.

13 - CM, Constantine Robideau – X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 14 Caps, 23 Years Old
With the absence of Gabriel Mohammed this qualifying campaign Remus Robideau’s brother Constantine will now join the starting lineup. Robideau is a strong central midfielder, and the understanding with his twin brother could be crucial in helping him understand and gain the flow of the game.

22 - RM, Hannibal - Unattached 76 Caps, 13 Goals, 27 Years Old
Hannibal is also looking for a job, so call him up people.

6- RM, Sylvestre Rochambeau - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 7 Caps, 21 Years Old
A speedy winger type.

14 - MF, Simon Costache - X Island Marauders (Taeshan) 1 Cap, 18 Years Old
This young midfielder has a bright future.

16 - MF, Anderson Pondecherry – Unattached 0 Caps, 17 Years Old
Ditto.

18 - MF, Awrythr Tudor - Capetown Crocs (Taeshan) 34Caps, 21 Years Old
Also a speedy winger.

20 - MF, Nigel - Ayeville Pikachus (Northern Sunrise Islands) 0 Caps, 19 Years Old
Central Midfielder

STRIKERS

10 - CF, Anton Gregovich - New Capetown Falcons (Taeshan) 61 Caps, 33 Goals, 28 Years Old
Gregovich came into the starting job and played like a boss. 20 goals in under 20 games and he was that impressive. A second campaign like his first could help propel the Fire Ants Back to the world cup.

11 - ST, Clyde Dickens - Real Chinchinhua (Taeshan) 20 Caps, 8 Goals, 24 Years Old
The star on the bench.

15 - ST, Soren Teodore - Mierton Manatees (Taeshan) 2 Caps, 20 Years Old
Also available
19 - ST, Galen Scrivens - Moresville FC (Taeshan) 1 Cap, 19 Years Old
Ditto

Formation

--Funar--Devine—Hopkins--Cobacaru--

--Hannibal—C. Robideau--von Leeweonheouck--

--Gregovich--
