Welcome to the ninth edition of the Campionato Esportiva, the premier regional football tournament in Esportiva. This edition, organized by the Buyanese Football Board and the Konsehong Pampalakasan ng Maharlikang Barangay, will see a record 41 participating teams vying for the title of “Esportiva’s Best”.

For their win in the previous Campionato Esportiva, New Sideburn will automatically qualify for the main tournament that will take place in the nations of The Royal Barangay and Buyan. The forty remaining teams will have to play through a qualification phase that will see ten groups of four playing a home-and-away, double round robin format. The top team will automatically earn a ticket to the main tournament, while the second placed teams will partake in a playoff to determine the final five places in the 16-team knockout phase.

Nations participating in this tournament may now post their rosters and RP. In posting a roster, please include a RP permissions box, where you may place certain restrictions or freedom in an event that your opponent RPs first. Participants are expected to respect their opponents’ RP permissions. Below is an example of a RP permissions box:

Buyan Geography

Eleven islands, spotted across the northern Esportivan sea, constitute the nation of Buyan. They are located between the continents of Andarica and Superiori and can be reached travelling north of Slembana. The elevation on the islands is limited, with the notable exceptions of Mullsphall and Serkau, which is home to the Bruczniwko Mountains which split said island. The population can bank on some twenty-five million souls.

The archipelago is noted by an interesting variation of microclimates, but as a whole, we dare to say it’s quite chilly down here. No use for sunscreen, that’s for sure. Fortunately, this tournament is being conducted in the warmer season, which means that the temperatures will rise to around twenty degrees, although the occasional breeze won’t be avoided. There’s a chance on rain. On Buyan, there’s always a chance on rain.

Four of the eleven islands will be part of the festival of sports that is the Campionato. The biggest one, over all, is Valneda. Located in the utter east of the archipelago, it’s the flattest one of all constituent parts of the archipelago. The accent there might remind those who are skilled in the Ancient European languages to Lithuanian. Valneda houses the unofficial capital city of Pajukas, but also Viztourzys, which has grown as our footballing capital over time. Transport to this place will go over Pajukas International Airport.

The second-biggest island, Mullsphall, will also house a stadium. Although one would travel through the Vannarby Hub, most of the activity will be in Bengtsmark. Being in the southern tip of the island, it has a moderate climate despite being located in the north-west of the island group. The third place that will great football fans is Pallstadt, located on the island of Trovne. A small merchants town with a rich tradition in cutlery, it won’t get more exciting than that.

Fourth but not least, Esportivan sides will visit Urka. As the smallest island of the archipelago, it often gets picked on by the other islands... No, wait, that’s another story. It is, however, a rather tiny island, located in the Bay of Valneda. Nonetheless, they are one of the more cultured places in Buyan, with a vivid nightlife and less prejudice than in other places. The regional capital of Dyatinsk welcomes you all.

Buyan History

Our PR department felt little to no need to bore you with a complete overview of our national history. Yet, we would like to point you to some turning points in our canon, which will explain where we come from and how we relate to the outer world. In ancient times, the archipelago was housed by Celtic tribes, the so-called Dultsmen, a native population which got baptised in the late eight and early ninth century by Catholic monks.

The islands were still quite savage in those days, as bands of primitive agriculturalists made up most of the population. Yet, the monks immediately saw the potential of the abundant and uncultivated natural resources. No wonder that, in the thirteenth century, Esportivan traders started to build merchant towns along the shores. A city like Pajukas or Bengtsmark still relates their ancestry to this wave of colonisation. The iron mines, discovered first on Valneda and later on also on Serkau and Baskin, only sped up said process.

But the wealth of those days wasn’t endless. Each island and town tried to protect their ground and it became the playground of feudal lords who battled endlessly against the free cities and clerical grounds. Danilius Partus, who took command over the city of Uraugai in 1523, seized Pajukas two years later and started a string of weddings with daughters of rulers across Buyan. By 1568, he ruled over eight of the eleven islands and attempted to capture Vadshult. In the battle of Redfield, he was killed by Erik With The Iron Fist, but the stride was won and he left an impoverished, but almost united Boejaen to his son Stasys.

The rule of Danilius Partus, characterized by cultural growth and hard oppression, but always with attention to other nobles, had grown into a dictatorship by the time of Stasys III. The reign of the so-called Daniliates would end at the tip of a dagger, held by a rejected lover of the king. It ensued an era of violent wars, which still works through in many of the feuds held across the archipelago and split Boejaen into six different nations by 1783. Most of them were kingdoms, but an early type of democracy was already founded on the northern islands, named Harkinta.

The disunity amongst all kept the population poor and the potential unused. Democratic and liberal forces influenced the country in the 19th century, but none was as strong as the Young Serkau movement of Pawel Raczkowski. They not only managed to overthrow local ruler Stanislav II, but also exerted enough pressure to force the other rulers to sign the Document of Rights. Said document not only lay foundation for a loose union, but also guaranteed a minimum of liberal rights to all people in the archipelago, such as free speech, freedom of union and the right to vote for a council. Nonetheless, the Boeyanese Union still contained four kingdoms dependent upon their ruler and feudalism wasn’t banned everywhere until 1911.

Several faulty harvests in a row caused protest in the streets in 1932. King Jehan of Mullsphall envisaged that the best response to that would be ‘to give the crowd entertainment’ and started a war on the neighbouring states. Said war only lasted three days, as the people in the streets refused to go to war and political protests sprung up across the nation. In the following turmoil, all kings were dismissed and the National Council founded. However, before an election could be held, power was taken by the Liiga Communista, which founded the Socialist Buyanese Union.

The Liiga, which united workers from across the archipelago, led the Union of Eleven for foreign affairs, but each island had its own Workers Council. In the 1980s, however democratic terrorists tried to take over command by a series of bombings, crying for elections. It was in 1987 that Ernst Pulnov decided to put the Liiga out of work and refounded Buyan, which would be led as a modern state, with central command and stronger ties between the different islands. A period of economic revitalisation and cultural strengthening started. Hurra Pulnov! The death of Friend Pulnov by a sudden heart attack caused times of mourning across our nation in 2003. However, his lifework was continued when Friend Portnii, from that day forward named Leader Portnii, took over his position.

Buyan Politics and Economics

For thirteen years now, the Empire of Buyan gets ruled by Kazys Portnii, the Leader for Life. ‘Hurra Portnii’ appears on a variety of banners across the nation and is a common expression. Use it. Wisely. His power is wide, but there is mainly apathy concerning politics. No man knows as well as Leader Portnii how to ‘divide and rule’. Each town tries to do it on his own, each island focusses on itself...

This allows Portnii to conduct his reign through a string of local Secretaries, sometimes pawns, sometimes ambitious rivals. One quickly notes that a heavy administration holds back efficiency in the conduction of policies. Nonetheless, Buyan can rely on proper healthcare and an educational system that is... Well, all right, I guess. The Leader of Life also presses on the fact that all inhabitants should be allowed a job that keeps them and their families alive.

Other policies usually focus on keeping the political liberties near a minimum, although the Buyanese can pride themselves on proper civil rights. There’s a reason why ‘we’re not a police state’ is one of the mottos learned by all youngsters at a proper age. Major investments also go in a large security agency, which not only tries to keep law and order in the streets, but also tries to eliminate every democratic or liberal terrorist. And their families.

One of the major projects of the Buyanese government is to give the economy a major boost. Whatever the propaganda might say, Buyan was bankrupt and broke by the time Pulnov died due to the focus on older industry such as iron and coals, fields in which they failed to compete with other nations. Years and years of depression and recession still vibrate through the streets, so leader Portnii came up with the Dual Solution.

From one side, the bans on non-governmental economic activity has been lifted and although the tax rates are high, a few merchants and industrials have stood up. An example of those could be Erik Pallson, manager of Top Divisionist IFK Pollmarnang, who got rich through the cultivation of modern energy sources. The second part of the policy is the foundation of brand-new Pulnov Labs for Modern Technology, often abbreviated as PuLMTechs. They should give a new vibe to the economy, but the first real results aren’t seen yet on the horizon. Overall, it’s an impoverished nation.

Buyan Sports

The long ban on group gatherings by the Liiga Communista and their focus on so-called higher culture, such as penmanship and sculpture, haven’t done well to our team sports. Previously, the focus was on the ‘pure’ sports, such as boxing, swimming, running, rowing and cycling. Those still receive a lot of domestic interest, but when matched with the outside world in the Esportivan Autumn Festival, they showed to be below average. Nonetheless, they are still the pinnacle of the school sports system and the national competitions gather thousands of fans. Swimmers like Viatcheslav Prussov or Silke Lammerthal, boxer Duco Valkinner, cyclist Marek Krestinov and Ester Sokk, rowers Jonas Myrthe and Ruta Baltas, ... They’re all as famous as Sverre Devold and Jaan Kallemane.

Only recently, rugby, basket and football have come to flourish. The rugby federation was the first to set up a true national competition. After a few issues, they can now pride themselves upon a national team that made it to the last twenty-four in the Rugby World Cup and a professional league that houses nine teams, amongst which Tikhovesi RK that made the round of 16 of the last Seasogs edition. Basketball also can bank on a bit of a tradition already, with a large and strong domestic league, dominated by the Somlhus Sharks that made the final of the last international Trophy of Champions and the semis of the Trofeo de Paz.

By now, Buyan also starts to become an organiser of events. First, there was the bid from Wladica for the Ninth Winter Olympics. With a solid bid, they forced Saugeais’ Arcon to a close competition, but eventually lost the vote by a slim margin. A similar slim margin was also involved when it came to the Campionato Esportiva, but the Buyanese were allowed to organise the tournament along with the Royal Barangay. For more information upon the history of football in Buyan and the adventures of our national team, the Blue Hedgehogs, so far, we point you towards the Buyanese team sheet.

Buyan Stadiums

Unter dem Linden, Pallstadt

Image

Previously only containing room for 5.500 supporters, all located along the sidelines, this stadium has expanded up to 22.000 seats. Still surrounded by the traditional trees which lend their name to the venue, this place houses Blau-Weiss Pallstadt, last victor of the President’s Cup. Apart from being the smallest of stadiums used for this tournament, it’s noted for the great pitch quality.

Havssidanstadion, Bengtsmark

Image

The Havssidan, as it is more commonly referred to, is probably the oldest football venue in the nation. Once a simple 500-seater, it has been expanded over and over again to suit the needs of Bengtsmark IF. For the Campionato, the architect kept the earth walls build around the pitch during the last expansion and added a second circle around it, allowing to move the amount of seats up to 34.000. Though architecturally rather modest, it has the most modern resources.

Novas Pylimasstadionas, Viztourzys

Image

Actually, this one should be named the Novas Novas Pylimasstadionas. Only last year, the management of the most famous club on the archipelago, triple champions and Globe Cup round of sixteen participants Viztourzys Kolektyvinis, decided to lift the amount of seats. Another tour of embellishment and expansion created this marvellous venue. One minor issue is the grass quality, which has been criticised already a lot.

The Nine, Dyatinsk

Image

But the biggest mark of megalomania is without any doubt this brand-new, top-of-the-bill stadium. The Nine, named after the tournament, is specially erected for this tournament, only to house three games. It is intended to become the home of the national team afterwards. To avoid conflict amongst the larger islands and teams, it is built on the small island of Urka, in the town of Dyatinsk which has no professional football team.

THE ROYAL BARANGAY
NATION INFORMATION

What is The Royal Barangay?
The Royal Barangay is a nation that is located in southern Mardujsha in Esportiva. It is bordered by Ati Kaluraya in the west, Swyftherth in the East, the Licentian Channel in the southwest and a vast sea at south. The area north of the Royal Barangay, albeit yet to be inhabited, is in a state of strong border control. The nation is made up of a mainland, which houses most of its provinces and an island at the southeast called Isla Nespa, with three provinces on it.

The nation was a direct result of the assasination of then-Supremo Mazda Senina, apparently by the Gran Supremo himself Antonio Arias. He currently handles the peacekeeping aspects of the nation after months of turbulence, and some attempts of coup de etat and numerous assasination plots. As of today, these threats seemed to be now at bay, but Senina symphatizers, particularly at Isla Nespa, will look for lapses in security and strike at the least expected.

Upon hosting one of the most important tournaments in the region, the Komiteng Pampalakasan ng Maharlikang Barangay (KPMB) is tasked to coordinate with the Tropang Kasangga, the most advanced and skilled troops in the nation to maintain order in the duration of the tournament, particularly to the hotspot that is Isla Nespa.

Geography
Image
The map of The Royal Barangay

The Royal Barangay is divided into eight administrative regions, each with a regional center and many infrastractures. The capital, Sangti, is the smallest province in the nation, but is the center of the Barangayan government and also its financial backbone. Any disorder at the capital will paralyze operations so it is one of the heavily guarded places in the nation.

Image
Regional Map
Other places of importance are the Zalesgon International Airport, the Leonde Port, the San Mariano bridge and Isla Nespa. ZIA, the four-terminal airport is the gateway of The Royal Barangay from other places in the multiverse. It is one of three international airports (the others are Nuelma and Gabel, albeit serving only in a domestic capacity) serving The Royal Barangay. The Leonde Port is an important hub for shipping in Southern TRB, and is the main thoroughfare from the nation to its near neighbors Estope and The Licentian Isles. The San Mariano Bridge is a 4.2 km bridge that links Gabel and Isla Nespa. Like Sangti, it is also heavily guarded, as any incident mean that supplies will be cut off between mainland TRB and the island. And finally the island itself. Famous for its sand beaches in the west, and big waves in the northeast, Isla Nespa is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the nation.

Transportation and highway system
Transportation is diverse in The Royal Barangay. Here you can see a range of vehicles from a simple pedicab to large double decker buses and trucks. Interregional bus services are available everyday and uses a terminal system, like in airports. Jeepneys provide intraregional thoroughfare that completes the transport system in The Royal Barangay. Regional terminals are located in regional centers in the nation (Sangti, Mogya, Nuelma, Nandezfer, Leonde, Baoyam, Viocla and Gabel, with Nespa also a satelite hub).

Image
Highway system in The Royal Barangay
The highway system in The Royal Barangay is also modernized by the Senina administration, as numerous expressways here and there were constructed in the nation in order to shorten travel time around the nation. There are five main expressways in the nation: The Respana-Pranse Expressway, which links Region Capital with Respana Nuevo, Respana Viejo and Pranse in the South. Branching off from the second Viocla Exit is the REVONNE (Respana Viejo-Olhana-Nomadia-Nespa) Expressway, one of the most important roads in a Nespan point of view. The other expressway that spawns from Sangti is the Barangayan North Expressway, which passes through Cantones then to Nomadia, terminating in Cadomer, which it combines with the REVONNE Expressway. At Mogya, the Barangayan Central Expressway spawns from the BNE, which passes through Region Capital, Olhana to Leonde in Pranse to an interchange with the RPE. The last expressway is the Barangayan Coastal Road (BCR) which connects Manoglu in Respana Viejo with Calema in Nuevo Nomadia and passes through Pranse.

Senina's government spent millions of dollars in developing the expressways, which currently are giving many benefits to the transportation industry, businesses and motorists.

Besides the highways, there are also rapid transit systems in The Royal Barangay. The rail transit system in TRB has seven lines, connecting major regional centers in the nation. An extension to the eastern line is planned, which will extend the system into Isla Nespa.

Weather
Weather in The Royal Barangay is tropical - meaning that rains occur at the middle of the year, and occasionally at the southern part. There had been several storms that destroyed some provinces as of late, but these provinces recover quickly and after a month, normal life is restored. The northern part is rarely visited by storms, and a prime destination during rainy seasons.

Rainy seasons occur between June and November, while the rest of the year has sunny seasons, particularly in April.

People
Generally, the people in The Royal Barangay are inhospitable, with only a few percentage of them trained to be tour guides or attendants, but still most of the time, foreigners file complaints about their rudeness. With a new government installed, it is now a requirement in all levels of education in TRB to teach values education to people at their young age. However, there are some that are hospitable by birth; it is just the former governments that fail to nourish them.

The Royal Barangay has five languages: Baranggayo (RL Filipino), Sangtiano (RL Spanish), English, Pransean (RL French) and Cantonense (RL Basic Mandarin), but the majority of the can only speak and understand at most three, including English. English literacy in the nation is roughly at 90 percent - People at the northern side of the nation only understand Cantonense and either Baranggayo or Sangtiano. Signages at these areas are written in four languages.

How to enter The Royal Barangay
There are at least three ways of entering The Royal Barangay: via air travel, via sea travel (from the South), and via land travel (from Ati Kaluraya, Swyftherth, or the uninhabited north of TRB). The Zalesgon International Airport (Sangti-Zalesgon) is the gateway to The Royal Barangay, and almost all international flights arrive in this airport. The Leonde Port in southern TRB is where people that ride in ships arrive. Border control in TRB is tight since Arias took over as the Gran Supremo. Every passing pedestrian or vehicle is inspected and passports are required to be shown. This is the same case as in the ZIA and Leonde Port.

Upon entering TRB, the people arriving show his/her passport and a computer database, updated every two hours is checked for possible blacklisted personnel. Belongings are also heavily inspected and anything that poses danger (such as sharp objects, explosives, smoke flares among others) are confiscated. However, these rules are poorly implemented by security officers, leading to lapses that can endanger anyone in the nation.

Foreigners entering the nation can apply visas prior to their travel to the nation. There are three types of visas: Tourist, Worker, and Immigrant. Tourist visas usually last only a month; Worker visas usually last the duration the contract is signed (the traveller has to submit a copy of the contract explicitly stating the length of it), while Immigrant visas lasts indefinitely; these visas have the longest processing time, as it involves checking of clearance records (such as criminal records, international watchlists, etc.).

Regulations
Upon entering the Royal Barangay, foreigners are expected to obey the laws enforced by the Barangayan government. These include the prohibition to cause violence and harm to people, among other provisions. However, the government implements curfews only for those under the age of 12. This curfew means that any unaccompanied people under that age would be prohibited from coming out of their houses by 10 PM.

Also, staying in the nation with expired visas is punishable by banishment and deportation. Commiting any crimes (or cases filed against) will revocate the visa of the offender, whatever type he/she has.

The stadium was an integral part of the International Firestorm Cup IV, where it hosted a quarterfinal match and some group stage matches. The stadium hosted National Team matches regularly since then. After the IFSC, the then 21,000-capacity stadium underwent a major renovation, adding an entire tier (making it three), with 24,000 (initially 13,000) seats and modernizing the amenities such as VIP boxes and electronic adboards, and also installed green lighting in it (not only 'environmentally sound aspects', but also green colored lighting!), bringing it to a seating capacity of 55,000.

The stadium will host the second quarterfinal match.

Estadio Mogya
Capacity: 41,000
Location: Mogya, Nomadia
Tenants: Balompie Mogya (LM Primera club)
Directions from the airport: Take the instructed route to the Barangayan North Expressway. Go out at either Mogya exits and follow the road signages to the stadium.
Details: Another new stadium, which was constructed by respectable builder Villalobos Corp before the 2017 season of the Liga Maharlika for Balompie. The Verdes moved to the stadium just in time for their first home match of the league. Amenities are similar to the Nueva Estadio de Isla Nespa... except that the pitch was still a natural one and there are no retractable roofs.

The stadium will host the first quarterfinal match.

Estadio Olimpico de Pranse
Capacity: 35,000
Location: Leonde, Pranse
Tenants: Olympique Leonde (LM Primera club)
Directions from the airport: Take the instructed route to the Respaña-Pranse Expressway. Go through Leonde exit and follow the road signages to the stadium.
Details: The oldest of the host venues in the Campionato Esportiva. Built in 1988, it was formerly configured as an athletics stadium before Olympique bought the stadium. It is distinct for its orange lights at night. It was voted by opposing fans as "The Worst Stadium to play football" in 2009. Since then, the club thrived in investing for expanding the capacity of the stadium to 50,000, which obviously is not achieved yet.

The stadium will host the third Round of 16 match. The capacity of the stadium prior to the host bid is 30,000.

Nuevo Campamento
Capacity: 51,000
Location: Gabel, Nuevo Nomadia
Tenants: Gabelona (LM Primera club)
Directions from the airport: Take the instructed route to the Barangayan North Expressway. Go through the terminus at Cadomer and enter the REVONNE Expressway, then go out at the Gabel exit and follow the road signages to the stadium.
Details: One of the largest stadiums in the Royal Barangay, Nuevo Campamento is Gabelona's home stadium, with one World Cup qualifier match played at it. That match however sparked the most violent of riots in the nation, when Barangayan fans clashed with the supporters of the Sovan Antithesis. This caused the stadium to lose its hosting rights of the national team (prompting to move the match against Aquitayne in Baoyam) until the International Firestorm Cup IV, when En Avant Nice-Royes of Northern Sunrise Islands faced Dubrack's Town Celtic of Albaie in the Round of 32. When TRB and Buyan won hosting rights of the Campionato, the then 32,000 capacity stadium was renovated, adding 19,000 (initially 13,000) seats to its current capacity of 51,000.

The stadium will host the Barangayan half of the semifinals stage.

Nueva Estadio de Isla Nespa
Capacity: 45,000
Location: Nespa (in the Nespa-Ryne border), Nuevo Nomadia
Tenants: Deportivo Nespa (LM Primera club) and Ryne Savio (LM Primera club)
Directions from the airport: Take the instructed route to the Barangayan North Expressway. Go through the terminus at Cadomer and enter the REVONNE Expressway. go through the terminus at Nespa exit and follow the road signages to the stadium.
Details: The 45000 capacity stadium is one of the state of the art stadiums in the Royal Barangay, with artificial grass, VIP boxes, electronic adboards and scoreboards, and a retractable roof. The stadium is shared between two rival island clubs, Deportivo Nespa and Ryne Savio. The stadium is situated in the border of the Nespa and Ryne provinces.

The stadium will host the fourth Round of 16 match.

Albaie Imperial National Team

Albaie enter their third tournament with one ambition. Victory . Much of the nation has forgotten about football. They had their last domestic season cancelled and the newly renovated Saint Ruk Stadium has yet to see a domestic game and isn't a fortress of it's club's home games but is now a fortress of the Imperial First Loyalist Volunteer Force and was the scene of a fierce battle between them and the Rogers Renegades a band of rebels just one of the many rebel parties.

The Second Albaie Revolution engulfed the nation soon after Count Vincent Deberen's accident which still engulfs him. The revolution began due to the Imperium's peasantry believing they deserved more respect from the nobles after one noble was filmed murdering peasants and despite the Emperor's quick justice a wide spread rebellion was staged and now there is three factions. The nobles and their retinues and the peasantry who commit atrocious acts against each other while the Emperor and the Dubrack Wolfs his small but loyal army from the old armed forces who try to maintain some kind of order.

The revolution stole from the Albaie National Team their greatest success of third place in a qualifying group as the nation lost intrest on their favorite sport but despite Count Vincent Deberen many claiming he could have united the nation with the team he would have led they are pressing on with plans to enter the Campionato. Sir Mark Deberen his fathers second son pleaded with the Emperor to allow him to gather up the World Cup squad and have one chance at reuniting the Empire through football.

Staff
Count Vincent Deberen The Elder LCOTIO KOTB -Manager. Deberen Albaie's only manager in the recent Multiverse Era has lead our team to great heights during the Campionato Esportiva but the recent qualification campaign has besmirched his record. Hopefully Deberen can rebuild the team and lead it back to its former glory. Deberen also managers Dubrack's Town Celtic the Imperial Bank Premier League powerhouse who also have started making waves on the continental scene. Deberen is also a former player who holds all goalscoring records in the country and is Albaie's most capped ever player with 178 caps and with 167 goals shows what a star he was. Not to be confused with Vincent Deberen The Younger who is his 16 year old son who happens to play for both Dubrack's Town Celtic and the Albaie National Team. Even though he keeps his place as manager he is still incapacitated following a car crash and has remained so throughout the Second Albaie Revolution.

Lord Mark Deberen DC SRC AS MS - Caretaker Manager. Mark another member of the Deberen sporting dynasty who as son of Vincent Deberen The Elder was widely touted as his successor and at the young age of 15 was playing in a Under 19's match for his fathers club Dubrack's Town Celtic against local rivals Albaie Rangers to prepare for his starting debut when a vicious challenge broke his leg in two places and the young lad announced his retirement but a week later was announced as Head of Youth Team Liaisons at Dubrack's Town Celtic where he took lessons from his father and started doing his coaching badges and by the age of 20 he was Head of First Team Coaching under his father and alongside Sir Arthur Sportern was his father's closest ally. Mark then left the club at 24 to manage the struggling Maras Wolfs and in his first season won the Emperor's Shield and the Imperial Bet Championship and so secured promotion to the Imperial Bank Premier League. In the team's first season in the top flight Mark completed the unthinkable not only winning the Albaie Cup but the Imperial Bank Premier League itself a feat unrivalled in Albaie footballing history. Then at the end of the season he announced his resignation and returned to fill the space left by Arthur Sportern as he became Head of the AFA and made a duke. Mark then at the beginning of last season filled the gap left by Stephen MacMillan at international level who left to head the Imperial Commission for Improvement In Football under Duke Arthur Sportern at the AFA being made a Count in the process. Has taken over his father's managerial position in his absence. After a successful World Cup and his return to the war torn nation he joined up into the Imperial Army raising a brigade known as Deberen's Dragons with 5,000 infantry men, 1,500 horsemen and 500 artilleryman with cannons as well. His war service was exceptional and he saw combat in many battles one of which the Battle of Horseton in which he won the battle with a valiant horsecharge but sustained a fierce face wound resulting in a much altered appearance. Over the course of the war he was awarded a DC a AS and a SRK for his valiant service as well as being allowed to start his own cadet branch House Deberen of Horseton with the lordship of Horseton being granted to him having slayed it's rebel lord in the battle.

Lord Edward " Lucky " Mercer DC AS SRC MC - Goalkeeping Coach / Caretaker Assistant Manager - " Lucky " is a former youth player for Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie but he suffered a serious injury his career was over. He then saw service in the 77th Dubrack's Town Light Infantry during the Second Advar Revolution when he sided with the Crown Prince during the Battle Of Advaria and then served by his side during the conflict and was well decorated with a Dubrack Cross and an Albert Star as well as a Saint Ruk Cross for his good service as well as being made a Knight of Saint Arthyr for saving the Crown Prince's life on three occasions. " Lucky " then joined the Imperial Guard but saw a stagnation in his career as he was posted to service with unimportant members of the Imperial Family and then finally service as a guard at the AFA which is where Count Vincent Deberen recruited him as a coach and he quickly rose through the ranks at Dubrack's Town Celtic and Albaie and became a key man in the Campionato Esportiva. He was a key part of the last World Cup campaign. " Lucky " joined Sir Mark as his second in command and the two saw great service in the war and were both richly awarded and " Lucky " was raised to a lord and has become one of the key men of the loyalist army.

Old Guard National Football Team

Style: -3

Cultural Quirk: Old Guardians have an odd way of giving names, they are given a first name when they are born, and then given a characteristic at the age of seven to complete their name, eg. Steven the Great.

COACHING STAFF
Manager: Sanderstal the Almighty, 43
Record in charge of NT: Pd 23, 5-4-14, 25 Goals For, 40 Against, -15 GD
After a moderately successful Campionato last time around, Sanderstal has kept as much of the core of the team together as possible, though, with ageing players, some changes have had to occur. Most notable of which is Captain Xav the Fast retiring, to be replaced as captain by Jooles the Sophisicated, who is also probably in his last tournament for the national team.

Assistant: Tim the Bored, 45
Sanderstal brings with him to the job his number two at Old Guard Regiment, Tim the Bored, a man saddled with an unfortunate end prefix like so many in Old Guard. However, he is in truth quite energetic, and tries his best to animate teams under his control to achieve new levels of greatness.

PLAYERS
#1 - GK - Quentrim the Arrowheaded, Aged 23, Mona A.F.C (APX), 5 caps
Quentrim continues in the starting XI, after continuing to impress at the recently relegated Mona A.F.C. He is sharp with his reactions and able to command the box like a great goalkeeper should.

#2 - RD - Endellion the Hewn, Aged 28, FC Endeavour (APX), 20 caps, 1 goal
Endellion is fast becoming one of the best players for the Old Guard national team, playing to a high standard both internationally and domestically, with top Apoxian club FC Endeavour, having now won a domestic title with Endeavour, he is a real star of the team now.

#3 - CD - Og the Troll, Aged 44, Hudd Rovers, 24 caps
Og is quite literally a troll, not just a very ugly person, and due to his increased height and weight, a large presence in defense. However, trolls are very slow and often clumsy, so he is quite easy to manoeuvre around, providing he doesn't hit you, which will almost definitely cause some form of minor injury (he averages around one yellow card a game). He is really quite a big softy though, and won't injure people on purpose. He plays for the club Hudd Rovers, from the town Hudd, which has the largest troll population base in Old Guard. Trolls have longer lifespans than humans, so Og won't be likely to retire until he is about 45.

#4 - LD - Jason the Argonaut, Aged 30, Oldem Gents Club, 27 caps, 1 goal
Jason has been recalled to the starting line-up from the bench, now that he has matured more as a player, and goes on epic, but ultimately futile runs with the ball that often end up further away from the opposition goal than he started about 5 minutes after receiving the ball. He now plies his trade with Oldem Gents Club, who have become established in the second tier of the Apox National Football System.

#5 - DM - Richard of France, Aged 34, Sabrefell Moths (NSB), 50 caps, 3 goals
By now a veteran of the Old Guard national team, Richard of France is a superb holding midfielder, with a good eye for a pass around the field, and this skill has only improved with time. He is getting quite old now, this will probably be his late tournament starting. He has also clearly gotten used to competing in the top flight, accepting a move outside the Apoxian Federation to Sabrefell Moths of New Sideburn.

#6 - DM - Dan the Man, Aged 32, Old Guard Regiment, 21 caps
Under Sanderstal, Dan looks likely to remain in the starting line-up for some time, which can only be good for his development. He is still playing with Old Guard Regiment, surprising as he could definitely move up a league in the ANL league system should he want. He is a great workhorse, charging from one end of the pitch to the other, though age is beginning to catch up with him now, he hasn't got the leg he used to.

#7 - RM - Jooles the Sophisicated, Aged 33, Barbury Town (APX), 46 caps, 5 goals
Jooles oozes class as you can tell by his name, even playing badly on purpose if he thinks it'll make him look more sophisticated. However, he does have genuine skill and can liven up any game he become a part of. Be warned though, he likes only specific chants to be done for him, and prefers a polite round of applause or gentlemanly cries of "I say!" or "Jolly good!" as encouragement, or he can go a little off the rails.

#8 - CM - Sam of Charlfont, Aged 25, St George's Creek, 17 caps, 1 goal
Absolutely key St George's Creek promotion and continued time in the top tier of the Apox National League, Sam is a very clever player, not being the most active but being able to pick out a good pass. He topped the assists column in the ANL2 a few seasons ago, so expect to see him creating many of the goals Old Guard score.

#9 - LM - Marcus the Bright, Aged 24, St George's Creek, 13 caps
Marcus is actually quite a normal person and player, and has managed to get a call-up purely because he's actually just good enough. He has good technique, and his stamina and fitness is improving all the time. A couple of season ago he completed a transfer from lowly Don't Panic FC to the high flying St George's Creek, a team which he helped gain promotion to the top league of the ANL league system three season's ago.

#10 - ST - David the Heroic, Aged 29, Blau-Weiss Pallstadt (BUY), 41 caps, 9 goals
David is approaching the peak of his career, and so he'll be glad of a few more opportunities to add to his modest international scoring record, which he hasn't quite managed to transfer across from his electric form domestically. He recently transferred to Blau-Weiss Pallstadt in Buyan from TP Indians, as he looks to be doing well there.

#11 - ST - Maximillion the Codger, Aged 24, St George's Creek, 7 caps, 1 goal
Maximillion has impressed greatly in the Apox National League, especially last season where his goals led to St George's Creek staying in the top tier. Continuing to replace star players, he now replaces Xav the Fast in the starting line-up, but he'll adjust well, thriving at regional level.

#12 - GK - STEVEN, Aged 30, TP Indians, 6 caps
STEVEN was found floating out at sea when he was younger, and gave no name for himself apart from STEVEN, and refused to tell anyone why he was floating out at sea in the first place. Since then he's always been quite reclusive, but took to football as a keeper, and has since been discovered to be quite good.

#13 - DF - Aquart the Unusual, Aged 31, Moscva 2k12, 15 caps, 1 goal
Aquart refuses to wear football uniform for matches or training, preferring and insisting on wearing some sort of medieval dress which is in team colours. However, he is a pretty strong tackler, and will not hesitate to bring a player down if he feels it to be necessary. The only flaw with that, is it is often not, and therefore he tends to get quite a few fouls when playing.

#14 - DF - Michelle the Gatekeeper, Aged 24, Moscva 2k12, 2 caps
Michelle, so called as her family were long the gatekeepers of Tellabocari, where she currently plays for team Moscva 2k12. She is incredibly committed and hard-working and is the next in the line of promising Guardian players to be developing.

#15 - MD - Kay the Sideways, Aged 27, Oldem Gents Club, 16 caps, 1 goal
Kay is a player like no other, she literally runs sideways, which is at the same time hilarious and brilliant, and is how her only international goal came about, she was substituted on, and scoring running in to a corner, where she was already at the right angle to score.

#16 - MD - Hurstspurr the Bold, Aged 20, Glenmount Town (TLI), 2 caps
Hurstspurr is a talented midfielder who can play nearly anywhere in midfield, therefore being a useful and versatile player. He is was with Oldem Gents Club in the third tier of the ANL, but recently moved to Glenmount Town in The Licentian Isles, and hopefully he will flourish there.

#17 - ST - Alex the Incomprehensible, Aged 23, Oldem Gents Club, Uncapped
New into the squad, Alex is a fantastic team player, and good at scoring goals, luckily. However, he is also very loud, and the only problem is that no one can really understand what he's saying, bar a select few who have learnt to understand his garbled words. Yet another Old Guardian oddity.

#18 - ST - Ug the Troll, Aged 36, Hudd Rovers, 3 caps
Ug is Og's sister, and she's in the team for when a tall striker is required to head and kick troubling balls at the opposition goalie.

APOX CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA IX ROSTER

Manager: Magnus Fjelden (PIS), Aged 64
Assistant Manager: Gavin Hughes, Aged: 37
Style: -1.8

Spiel: Magnus Fjelden and the national team return home to Apox as heroes after the World Cup, having qualified (the aim) and then become the first Esportivan team to reach the knock-out rounds, taking top ranked side Polar Islandstates to extra-time in the Round of 16. With the departure of several of the older players from the squad, Fjelden has put an impetus on youth with the players brought into the squad, with the two young strikers, Corinna McKenna and Richard D'Oyly both being under 23, as well as Jesper Lee Coleman, making the squad after just one season in the starting XI of Gwinevra Barbarians. He continues with the same defensive formation this time around, and has been set the target of reaching the Quarter-Finals, although, failure to reach that won't be particularly disastrous for his reputation after the excellent World Cup cycle just gone.

THE SARIAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM

Brief Description of The Sarian

Bleak, desolate and cold. The words of a recent travel report on The Sarian. Located on the edge of Esportiva, The Sarian has risen up through the sporting world, coming second in the Baptism of Fire and taking points off many established teams in the World Cup Qualifiers. In other sports, The Sarian came third in an interesting World Lacrosse Championships and look to expand into other sports and show of the nations talents.

As for the people, they are different, from the richer provinces like Province Regis, Henrikson Island and Ceremonial Chippenham, you find the whole place filled with luxury cars and smooth Oakhurst Whisky. However, you venture into the East End of any major city and you see a different Sarian, some describe it as a permanent refugee camp. Endless political struggle has twice broke out in civil war, and the latest, just two years ago (OOC: World Cup/Cup of Harmony) has just concluded with the monarchists regaining power.

Politically, The Sarian is very confusing, but lets have a go explaining anyway. Before the Civil War, there were 4 legislative houses, all of whom voted for the Prime Minister from the Leader of the Parties. Now, The Sarian has looked to modernize and now contains only 2 houses, The Legislative Assembly, who are elected from single member constituencies and the Assembly of Notables, who are appointed by the monarch on a part time basis. The Executive Council, the successor of the old Cabinet, is chosen and chaired by the leader of the largest party. He becomes Chief Executive and Head of the Government. Other notable positions are the Foreign Executive, who is responsible for foreign relations and affairs; the Internal Executive who is responsible for home affairs and the Financial Executive who is in charge of raising taxes and cutting benefits managing your money. The Executive Council has 20 members. The major parties in the Sarian are the Conservative Party, Liberation Party, Labourite Party, United Liberals, Unionist Party, Royalty and Dignitary Party and National Front.

The Royal Family, recently re-instated, is much loved in most of The Sarian. But notice I said most, the regions of Konliege and Lajjal both seek independence from the crown and the nation, and both the Liberation Party and the Labourite Party have promised devolution if elected in the first election since the civil unrest.

Squad

[align=center]Staff
Leonard Heathwait
Age: 59 |Nationality: Sarian | Role: Manager | Club: FC Chippenham

Born in the affluent part of Chippenham, Lavington, Leonard Heathwait has come to success as manager of Sarian Champions, FC Chippenham. After graduating from the University of Greater Chippenham, Leonard went on to become a talk show host for SNN Radio, eventually leaving aged 41 to run for Legislative Assembly as a member of Prosperity and Growth, a small Conservative Party in the Islands. After winning a seat, he ran for re-election four years later but was beaten by Libertarian opposition, on the same evening his father passed away and Leonard, being an only child, inherited the family fortune, just under 6 billion Imperias. He created a gym in Lavington and was soon recognized for his strong leadership skills, then aged 53 he was approached by FC Chippenham Chairman, Peter Walliams to manage the club, a role he held until after the Cup of Harmony, where he got the Sarian job on a full time basis after being interim for the tournament.

Godfrey Potter
Age: 63 |Nationality: Sarian | Role: Assistant Manager | Club: N/A

A born and raised Oakhurstian, Godfrey Potter is the sole survivor of the Baptism of Fire coaching team. He was made interim assistant manager during the Cup of Harmony, and was offered the job shortly after. The complete opposite personality wise to Heathwait, Godfrey is always calm and collected, he is the ying in The Sarians management team.

Goalkeepers

Jonathon Stringer
Number: 1|Age: 33| Role: GK | Club: FC Chippenham |Caps: 30 |CS: 6
First choice keeper, Jonathon Stringer looked to build on his performance in the Sarian Super League in the Baptism of Fire. After a shaky start in the Baptism of Fire, Stringer quickly showed the world what he could do, notching up clean sheets against Rybarre, Alta Bellezza and against Buyan in the final. Stringer continued as first choice keeper throughout the qualifying campaign, only loosing his place after braking his thumb in training, returning in the Cup of Harmony he kept The Sarians losses from coming embarrassing with his cool handling of pressure and diving ability.

Brigham Huddleston
Number: 12|Age: 23| Role: GK | Club: King's City |Caps: 0 |CS: 0
'The young one'. Eccentric Brigham Huddleston is yet to make his first team debut for The Sarian and yet it is already being asked if he could be the first choice at the next World Cup and an impressive Super League Season has seen him stake a claim for a place in the CE if needed.
Diving: 87|Handling: 77|Reflexes: 85|Positioning: 77|Overall: 81

Defenders

Isiah Bernard
Number: 2|Age: 26| Role: DR| Club: Montfort University|Caps: 25 |Goals: 3
The star of The Sarian defence, Isiah Bernard climbed higher and higher up in status through out the World Cup qualifying campaign. Despite a disappointing Baptism of Fire, which saw him miss the final, Bernard secured a move to Licentian side, Montfort University and then proved his skill with crucial tackles in the Cup of Harmony.
Passing: 75|Defending: 94|Speed: 93|Shooting: 65|Overall: 90

Cody Roberts
Number: 4|Age: 21| Role: DL| Club: Davencreek Victinis|Caps: 28|Goals: 1
The best young player in The Sarian, and a great loss to Marlborough Town upon his move to Northern Sunrise Islands side, Davencreek Victinis. After successful Baptism of Fire and World Cup Qualifying, the sky is the limit for the fullback.
Passing: 80|Defending: 85|Speed: 92|Shooting: 70|Overall: 88

Matthew McNeilson
Number: 16|Age: 32 | Role: DL| Club: Salvador FC|Caps: 4|Goals: 0
Old, experienced and never played, former wonder boy of The Sarian, Matthew McNeilson is always ready to step in, after announcing he will retire at the end of the next Super League season, is this the last tournament for the Salvador star?
Passing: 88|Defending: 84|Speed: 70|Shooting: 30|Overall: 79

Jarrett Firmin
Number: 5|Age: 23 | Role: DC| Club: FC Chippenham|Caps: 31|Goals: 1
At just 23, the ability and presence Jarrett brings to the pitch is just phenomenal. Current Vice Captain, and tipped as the successor of Wiley Tyrell, he is the heart of the defence. Consistency is the key for the star of the future and of the present.
Passing: 85|Defending: 90|Speed: 76|Shooting: 42|Overall: 84

Carson Seabrooke
Number: 14|Age: 23 | Role: DC| Club: FC Chippenham|Caps: 24|Goals: 3
Some say he shouldn't be a defender, others cheer on his every move. The complete opposite to Firmin, Seabrooke, or SeeSee as his is nicknamed, is an attacking defender with a real flair for football. Working alongside Firmin at both club and country level, the two are a dynamic pair of one defender and one person who should really be a midfielder. of defenders.
Passing: 87|Defending: 86|Speed: 80|Shooting: 79|Overall: 83

William Peters
Number: 3|Age: 14 | Role: DC| Club: Tench Town|Caps: 0|Goals: 0
No-one knows. A surprising choice, as he plays for one of the worst teams in the third tier of Sarian football. He can tackle a bit... maybe. A litte? Who knows. I would say watch and see but...
Passing: 54|Defending: 70|Speed: 69|Shooting: 45|Overall: 60

Midfielders

Wiley Tyrell
Number: 8|Age: 32 | Role: MC| Club: FC Chippenham|Caps: 32|Goals: 3
The lion, the heart, the guy who can pass really well. Wiley Tyrell is the captain, leader and star midfielder for The Sarian. Although, he has said he will retire at the end of the next world cup. The FC Chippenham legend will look on the CE to show his roar.
Passing: 92|Defending: 51|Speed: 82|Shooting: 80|Overall: 90

Ron Fletcher
Number: 6|Age: 16| Role: MC| Club: Stanley Warrahs|Caps: 0|Goals: 0
An under 15 team graduate, Fletcher moved from FC Chippenham to Stanley Warrahs at the end of this Super League Season, tipped as a future star, a game or two may await for the young prodigy.
Passing: 82|Defending: 60|Speed: 83|Shooting:64|Overall: 75

Korbin Rowntree
Number: 10|Age: 28| Role: MC| Club: Gorgona City|Caps: 2|Goals: 0
Picked for the Baptism of Fire, World Cup Qualifiers and Cup of Harmony, Korbin Rowntree has yet to make his competitive debut, only featuring in two friendlies. However, after a successful season which saw him captain Gorgona City, Rowntree may be featuring very soon.
Passing: 80|Defending: 52|Speed: 79|Shooting:71|Overall: 73

Daley Brandon
Number: 9|Age: 29| Role: AMC| Club: Stanley Warrahs|Caps: 28|Goals: 7
Nicknamed The Warrah for his ferocious personality and loyalty to his home town team, Attacking Midfielder Brandon takes no nonsense and always plays his heart out for the team. A guaranteed starter as there is no competition for his place, teams often forget about this dark horse.
Passing: 84|Defending: 22|Speed: 77|Shooting:90|Overall: 89

Camden Stacks
Number: 11|Age: 22| Role: ML| Club: Jottnar Kallsmudden|Caps: 26|Goals: 4
A great Baptism of Fire lead to a transfer to Jottnar Kallsmudden in Buyan, a great season followed. The speedy left winger is one of the players who play shit are quiet for a lot of the game, then stun you with a daring run, taking it passed several defenders before an expert cross.
Passing: 74|Defending: 34|Speed: 88|Shooting: 73 |Overall: 85

Marcus Horn
Number: 13|Age: 18| Role: ML| Club: Pud United|Caps: 0|Goals: 0
Younger brother to star Ross Horn, Marcus Horn got the most assists and most goals in The Sarian Second Division, where his side Pud United came first. If only there was promotion and relegation. Regardless, many Super League sides are watching this player and this tournament could be his way to work himself into their transfer plans.
Passing: 68|Defending: 40|Speed: 71|Shooting: 73 |Overall: 70

Gord Hawking
Number: 17|Age: 25| Role: MR| Club: Marlborough Town|Caps: 27|Goals: 4
After a move to Marlborough Town, Hawking took time to settle and the fiery player we saw at the Baptism of Fire was put out. However, Leonard Heathwait has a way of getting the best out of people and fans and other players alike are praying that he does with Hawking. That being said, the opposition will be praying for the opposite.
Passing: 76|Defending: 29|Speed: 90|Shooting: 75 |Overall: 88

Strikers

Jonathon Creek
Number: 18|Age: 26| Role: FC| Club: Davencreek Victinis|Caps: 14|Goals: 7
What's his name again? Not Ross Horn Jonathon Creek is the second choice Striker for The Sarian, the understudy to Ross Horn. After not really playing at all in the Baptism of Fire, he moved to the Northern Sunrise Islands and played in some friendlies. Then Ross Horn injured himself and people got to see what Not Ross Horn Jonathon Creek can do; score goals, just not as much as Ross Horn. Nevertheless, this could be a good tournament for Jack Crease.
Passing: 78|Defending: 21|Speed: 78|Shooting: 85 |Overall: 82

Jordan Lee
Number: 15|Age: 14| Role: FC| Club: Kings City FC|Caps: 0|Goals: 0
Another under 15s, I want to say graduate but he still plays for them, anyway, another U-15's player, and the most talked about youth player in the Super League. Kings City are facing pressure from FC Chippenham to sign the striker as a long term replacement for Ross Horn.
Passing: 64 |Defending: 9|Speed: 70|Shooting: 76 |Overall: 74

Ross Horn
Number: 7 |Age: 26| Role: FC| Club: Avenida Principal|Caps: 20|Goals: 25
The crown jewel, the one The Sarian can not do without, the goal machine. Nicknamed Alps by Buyan fans, the striker is pure goals having notched up 4 hat tricks in just 20 games. After suffering an injury midway through qualifying, The Sarian struggled but the striker will stop at nothing to make sure that The Sarian do at least something well.
Passing: 80 |Defending: 18|Speed: 95|Shooting: 99 |Overall: 98

Taijan Roster-Campionato Esportiva IX
GK-#11-Alex Kim-22 y/o-Nova Algiers Maroons
Birthplace: Nova Algiers
Favorite color: Maroon ("Why bother asking?")
Despite being relegated to second fiddle in the Greenn League by the arrival of Sideburnese phenom Diandra Ballard, Alex Kim is easily the best Taijani goalkeeper since Cormac Danielson in his prime and a major factor on the powerhouse Maroons team. Raised in the cutthroat environment of the Maroons' youth system and trained against the likes of Paul Yamamoto since his U-14 days, Kim has a preternatural awareness of offensive players' moves and body language that lets him predict shots with stunning efficiency, such that he has recently been nicknamed "Neo" by some fans of the team. His other nickname, the "anti-Yamamoto", comes from his seemingly unflappable demeanor on the field and invulnerability to frustration.

As a young player with little experience at the top level, however, Kim frequently falls behind other international keepers in his field awareness, having a limited ability to track more than one player and often being surprised by one-timer shots or shots from outside the eighteen-meter box. He tends to get tunnel vision and not see the whole field, focusing almost entirey on the goal area.
Strengths: Reflexes, prediction
Weaknesses: Field awareness

FB-#4-Christopher Nguyen-26 y/o-Altomare (FEL) (VC)
Birthplace: Coco Bay
Favorite color: Red, green, and gold ("No, I won't pick one")
One of the most technically skilled defenders in Esportivan football, Nguyen is a major force on any team, including the Globe Cup-qualifying Altomare of Felix. As a beach soccer phenom, Nguyen can play box-to-box, though his skill is definitely at the rear of the pitch. He dribbles and marks with great skill, pinning offensive players in corners and forcing them to make bad passes, but like Kim, his tendency is to stay focused on his end of the field at the expense of the remainder. He is also the first player to be named Taijan's vice-captain, a natural choice in some respects given his undisputed captaincy of the national beach soccer squad, but controversial in others since he does not play his club football at home and is widely seen as a diva sort of player off the field.

Nguyen remains a dedicated defender, but he has difficulty staying in his position sometimes, and often has trouble with teamwork. His time in Felix has likely tempered this somewhat, but it could still rear its head playing among his countrymen. He is also not a physical player by any means, shying from contact and frequently missing challenges or receiving yellow cards for botched tackles.
Strengths: Marking
Weaknesses: Contact, team play

FB-#19-Damon Chang-26 y/o-Nova Algiers Maroons
Birthplace: Nova Algiers
Favorite color: Maroon ("Obviously")
A recent callup from the Maroons, Chang is a mostly-unsung defensive hero of an offensively-focused team. Playing as stopper in the Maroons' infamously juvenile stop-sweep defense, he has owned the position, becoming a tough challenger and a major proponent of controlling the ball with his head. In this respect he complements Nguyen well, bringing a physical, in-your-face style to match Nguyen's detached but tenacious marking. He is also known to be a workhorse and a good locker-room guy, one of the few who can calm Yamamoto out of one of his fits.

Like Nguyen, his tackles often end in yellow cards, though his come from too much commitment rather than not enough. He also has a tendency to get passed around a lot as he fixates too much on one player, but his ability to get to the ball before anyone else is nigh unmatched.
Strengths: Tackling, team play
Weaknesses: Marking

CB-#9-Brandon Roybal-28 y/o-FC St. Jermaine
Birthplace: Montem Virid
Favorite color: Red ("Templars for life, baby")
Nicknamed "Jackalope" by fans of the St. Jermaine Jackrabbits, Roybal is the golden boy of the franchise, a former St. Jermaine University Templar who has recently led his team to its first-ever UICA berth. A solid position player known for no-frills, tenacious football, he is a major factor for the Jackrabbits, a captain ever since his matriculation and oversaw the promotion of St. Jermaine from Gold to green and its subsequent establishment as a Green League mainstay.

A by-the-book, university-style player, Roybal notably lacks the creativity of a Chris Nguyen or a Michael Chao, but he shows tremendous hustle and drive that makes him a respected footballer nonetheless.
Strengths: Footwork, marking
Weaknesses: Vision, creativity

CB-#5-Mongkut Mendelsonn-26 y/o-FC Nova Tunis
Birthplace: New Zion
Favorite color: Black ("Wait, is that even a color?")
A giant of a man who has only recently come into his body enough to be a major factor on the pitch, Mendelsonn makes up for some serious clumsiness with tremendous speed and physicality, as well as being a major vertical presence thanks to his height. Feared by many players, Mendelsonn is a hard-working defender who has only recently gotten a chance to play for the Ibexes, let alone start.

His height obviously brings with it many coordination issues, most of which have gotten better with age, but his footwork still leaves some to be desired. A good match for Chao at any rate.
Strengths: Vertical presence, tackling
Weaknesses: Footwork

DM-#15-Christian Hart-26 y/o-St. Christopher United
Birthplace: Coco Bay
Favorite color: Blue ("It reminds me of the ocean")
A versatile midfielder, playing defensive mid for the first time this season at United to accommodate the arrival of superstar Sideburnese goalkeeper Diandra Ballard, but he's done a good enough job to warrant a callup to the national team. In his time at United, he's played every midfield position to some degree, giving him a fantastic idea of what's happening on the pitch and an unparalleled ability to help out his teammates.

On the flip side, he is still quite unrefined for his age, and his close-in footwork is worrisome. Though it's not as big a deal as it could be with Christopher Nguyen backstopping him, expect a lot of balls to get past Hart.

Strengths: Stamina, field vision
Weaknesses: Footwork

RW-#3-Liam Renner-29 y/o-St. Ignatius (C)
Birthplace: Montem Virid
Favorite color: Green ("For Taijan, of course")
A strong, well-rounded midfielder, and the heir to Ayden Giffard's throne as team captain. Renner has been instrumental in the recent rise of St. Ignatius to UICA standing in the Green League, and has been a perennial all-star. Has long legs and stamina that allow him to be seemingly everywhere at once, and can pinpoint the ball with almost any appendage (though not to the same degree as Michael Chao). Also a strong leadership presence, and the obvious choice for team captain with Giffard's retirement.

Renner, like Giffard, is a dedicated "quarterback"-style midfielder, preferring to move the ball up rather than do anything with it himself. His shots are long and predictable, to say nothing of few, and he is often dispossessed in the eighteen-meter box.

Strengths: Footwork, crosses
Weaknesses: Shooting

LW-#13-Benjamin Towson-24 y/o-Delta City Death (CHI)
Birthplace: St. Christopher
Favorite color: Orange ("It stands out")
A rising star in the Green League who has yet to find his place, Towson recently signed a contract to play club football in Chiata, making him one of an increasing number of Taijanis playing club football abroad. Never fully at home on the goal-oriented Cavaliers, some personality conflicts with Nouvel Escossian striker Leandro Cardoza made playing in Dynamo a living hell for the wide-but-not-deep midfielder.

A solid midfielder, who tends to get tunnel vision owing to his lack of experience.

Strengths: Footwork, speed
Weaknesses: Vision

OM-#7-Michael Chao-27 y/o-Jottnar (BUY)
Birthplace: Nova Tangiers
Favorite color: Green ("For, uh, the trees. You know.")
An acrobatic forward midfielder once called the Green League's "beach bum" for his beach-soccer-inspired acrobatic play and his perceived lack of a work ethic, Chao has seen his reputation change considerably since he joined the Buyanese side Jottnar two seasons ago. Playing foreign football evoked a drive in Chao that was all but unknown while he played at humble Dynamo Nova Tangiers, and placed him near the top of the list of Taijani footballers, just behind his national teammate in both grass and beach football, Christopher Nguyen.

Strengths: Passing, shooting
Weaknesses: Defense, position play

FW-#1-Paul Yamamoto-Nova Algiers Maroons-28 y/o
Birthplace: Nova Algiers
Favorite color: Maroon ("...")
Now that Nuno Brotz has retired from international football, it's official: Paul Yamamoto is the best Taijani striker currently playing. Having tied the Daineri "sniper" Kifazgol for the Golden Boot for the first time since Kifazgol's arrival, Yamamoto has seen a slight resurgence in the past year, which is not to say that he was ever exactly "gone." Despite his public misgivings about being passed over for the captain's slot, he is very much "on" this season, or so he tells reporters, though the recent publicity of his diagnosis with bipolar disorder has not boded well for his mental health.

Strengths: Shooting, passing, footwork
Weaknesses: Temperament

FW-#3-Elior Schneider-AFC Treason (NSB)-22 y/o

The eternal "bad boy" of Taijani football has found a new home in the eternal bad boy of football, period: New Sideburn, and particularly the legendary AFC Treason squad, where he has played the last season as a reserve awaiting his day in the sun. Despite not seeing much field time, there is little doubt that training with the elite Treason squad, the source of Green League Golden Glove winner Diandra Ballard, has done much good for the temperamental young striker.

Schneider is lightning fast and goal-oriented, converting crosses into goals in seemingly impossible ways that have earned him the public admiration of even the stuffiest of Taijani football critics and, now that he is no longer a threat, Paul Yamamoto. A powerful weapon who will only get scarier playing in New Sideburn.

Strengths: Shooting, attacking
Weaknesses: Vision, teamwork, decision-making

Casino Night Dreams Stadium - Capacity: 65,500 seats

An Interesting place downtown Amy City, the Amy Rose Memorial Stadium, known as Casino Night Dreams Stadium thanks to sponsorship reasons; was once again picked as the home stadium of the Vaporeons as they once again go for an international tournament. The Stadium is, normally, home of Amy City, a team from the second division.

Notes:
The German American States are coming off of the biggest high in national team history, garnering a 3rd place finish at the Cup of Harmony. The State's first award in national team history comes in what has been a very promising and surprising cycle. After playing at a sub-par level through all of the World Cup qualifying stage, the Eagles seemed to find their feet at the Cup. With new goalkeeper Freidrich Romelwald and rookie talent Konrad Meisenhal, the Eagles made a deep run, beating teams such as Mytannion, Bears Armed, and West Angola on their way to the 3rd place match.

Coming out of the tournament, the Eagles faced a quandary at striker position. Would they stick to their 4-3-1-2 formation and pick either Meisenhal or Hans Wippenbeck to start at RS, or adapt? The States adapted, playing now in an abnormal 3-1-2-1-3. The formation allows for superior striking talent to all get their share of the ball, to keep most of the midfield, and still allow for a stable defense. This new brand of football is nicknamed the "Adlergehts", named because of the new up-and-down the field play of the players. In this new scheme, fitness is key, with players covering hundreds of yards of the pitch in a single game. Each player is also expected to put in a good defensive effort and sometimes even move into the back three to provide support.

With the new experimental formation, the Eagles seek to test their metal against top regional talent, including 6th ranked Dandillis. The States have yet to make a big run in the CE after the quarterfinal finish two years ago. Underlying the tournament is the fact that this is Daniel Bauer's last competition as a pro or national team member. It will certainly be an emotional affair. The tournament will largely determine if the year was a success or not for Der Adlerschaft.

OOC: For now, I'll repost the roster from last CE, with the ages increased by 1, since it is only logical for a colony of the Free Republics to operate on the same chronology as the Free Republics (where it is always the same year as RL, but its also a year after the previous WC cycle). Hopefully, I'll get the Taiyouese kits up this time around.

Notes

Noburu Taiyou is a colony of the Free Republics, located in the region of Esportiva. The colony is comprised of a dozen islands, although Hiroketstu is easily the most significant of the islands. Noburu Taiyou was once an independent nation, with a royal family that claimed to have ruled the islands since the dawn of time 4 thousand years ago. According to legend, the first Empress of Taiyou was the daughter of the Sun Goddess, although those legends are no longer widely believed. Everything changed a few decades ago when the Taiyouese military became increasingly powerful, turning the Emperor into a glorified puppet. The military began a series of incursions upon the territory of other nations, eventually crossing out of Esportiva and into the territory of a Federation known as the Free Republics. After a sneak attack on the Free Republics, a war commenced and lasted for 2 and a half years before the Republicans finally conquered Taiyou and turned the Land of the Sun into one of their colonies. Today, the Taiyouese are relatively autonomous, but they still choose to emigrate to the Free Republics in large numbers, angering that nation's notorious nationalist politicians. Although Taiyou is technically part of the Free Republics and Taiyouese are technically citizens of the Free Republics, the Republican Constitution does not apply in Taiyou, a decision made by the victorious Republican military. If the Constitution had been applied to Taiyou, they would not have been able to set taxes high enough to afford to pay back reparations for their wars, let alone pay for any other public goods and besides, the Republican military wasn't exactly inclined to grant those "slants" any rights anyway. Because of this, the Taiyouese authority has the power to ban extremist political parties and uses it to prohibit nationalistic parties and any parties which agitate for independence, since any movement toward Taiyouese independence would only anger the Free Republics.

Taiyouese sports teams generally do not use numbers to identify their players, with the exception of gridiron teams. Gridiron is considered a niche sport anyway in Taiyou. Like all Taiyouese teams, the National Football Team emphasizes team play rather than the individual. Any individual who gets it in his or her head that he or she is bigger than the team will end up being kicked off of the team. Since Taiyouese still generally resent Republican imperialists and individualism is associated with the Republicans, the culture tends to be very conformist. From a young age, Taiyouese footballers are taught the importance of defense and teams tend to care more about maintaining a clean sheet than they do about winning a match. Giving up goals is considered humiliating, even if the Taiyouese lead is insurmountable. The Taiyouese will not quit on any match, so even if they are being blown out, they will continue to give everything they have.

Play style: The game who SJG does, is essentially technical, based on the agility of movement of players, using his intelligence for the game for single passes very accurate soil to accumulate players when attacking or using the surprise factor which is use the speed of the players to perform counterattacks that can hurt any team.

In the defense area, they tend to use more physical to play aggressively without damaging the rivals, except that the defenses are of medium height stands that are agile in the aerial game, so it is very difficult to beat thereby.

Players like try long-distance shots to beat the goalkeeper, but SJG can have more surprises because it is a team that does not give up that easy.

IC: Important Info

Fans. Football hooliganism is a real problem in SJG. With riots recently reported in the matches against Paradystopia, the SJGNFA is trying to find a way to protect guest fans. Also, fans will treat the fans of the following nations heatedly, some for having a rivalry like SJG VS Darmen, Gregoryisgodistan and Astograth. However Security topic is seriuously for the safety of visiting fans.

Introduction

The Aliancista Federation of San José Guayabal commonly called Guayabal or SJG, is a Federation in Esportiva. It's bordered on the north by Estope and Wednesday Evening. SJG covers 56,312,121 square kilometers and has has an estimated population of 800.000,000. SJG comprises of 16 provinces or Departamentos.

Etymology
The origin of the name cames from the spanish "Campo de guayabas" (Guavas County) (Vulgar: Guayabal) by the abundance of guavas, in 1770 was imposed as the patron of the town Saint Joseph (San José; In spanish) by this reason the name is San José Guayabal (Eng. Saint Joseph Guavas)

History
The village emerged in the mid-eighteenth century, and was known as Guayabal by the abundance of guava. In 1770, according to Pedro Cortés y Larraz (Spanish colonizer), had a population of 593 people "without being subject to any authority."

Indeed, the mayor Mayor Jose Ortiz de la Peña actual surveyor commissioned Don Francisco Jose Vallejo to chart a plan of the new town, which was founded on November 13, 1786 as a people's Guayabal. For 1807 had a population of 1,150 inhabitants.

Under the rule of El Salvador

He was part of the department of San Salvador from 1824-1835, the year he spent in the district of Suchitoto Cuscatlan. For 1859 it had a population of 2,302 inhabitants, which by 1890 had risen to 5,830,000. He received the title of town in 1875, and the city in 2006.

Independence of SJG:

The March 29, 2013, in protest of its 400 million people by the mistreatment of El Salvador, it was decided to wean and the same day, El Salvador accepted independence.

Through time, international litigation, could colonize El Salvador and then arrive to the continent of andarica in Esportiva

Population
According to the latest census (August 2013) was calculated in Guayabal a population of 800 million people, of which are classified into only five ethnic groups, which are:

-Guayabalenses/Guayabalians: 31%
-Salvadorans: 20%
-British: 19%
-Russians: 17%
-Eskimos: 13%

Of which are of different religions:

-Evangelical Christian: 96%
-Catholics: 2%
-Protestants: 2%

Language
The national languages of under Article 8 of the Constitution of the Federation of San Jose Guayabal, adopted in The Honorable People's Parliament are: English, Spanish Guayabalense, Russian, and Eskimo (Most used are: English, Spanish and Guayabalian), encouraging the use of language Guayabalian in:

- All daily activities as the language of communication between citizens of the Federation.

-support their teaching in public schools, private schools and universities in the San Jose Guayabal Federation.

But the SJG citizens talk the following languages:

-Spanish: 30%
-Guayabalian: 30%
-English: 15%
-Eskimo: 13%
-Russian: 12%

But 95% of the population has at least advanced knowledge of five languages, making society a society Guayabalense polyglot, highly acculturated and interesting to interact.

Let us salute, the Motherland, proudly
To be its children, called we can
And let us swear our lives spiritedly
Without rest to its good, consecrate!

Let us salute, the Motherland, proudly
To be its children, called we can
And let us swear our lives spiritedly
Without rest to its good, consecrate!, consecrate!, consegrate!, consegrate!

FIRST VERSE
Of peace enjoyed in perfect happiness
San Jose Guayabal always nobly dreamed.
To achieve this has been Her eternal proposition,
To keep it, Her greatest glory.
With inviolable faith, the path of progress
She strives to follow
To fulfil Her great destiny
And conquer a happy future.
A stern barrier protects Her
Against the clash of vile disloyalty,
Ever since the day when Her soaring Flag,
Wrote Freedom with Its blood

CHORUS
Let us salute, the Motherland, proudly
To be its children, called we can
And let us swear our lives spiritedly
Without rest to its good, consecrate!

Let us salute, the Motherland, proudly
To be its children, called we can

He was sat with his feet up on his desk. Today had been a very long day. Him and 300 dragoons had ridden down to Lord Hartley's Market where the rebel Lord John Hartley was raising a regiment from his levies for the war effort. His men had ridden almost up to the front gate in perfect 2 man a row column formation before they were challenged and then him and Captain Alex "Lightbolt" McDulltern rode to the side and "Lucky" raised an anti tank rifle and blew the gate to smithereens. Him and his men had then ridden into the town killing all enemy combatants but leaving the civilians until Lord Hartley had pulled back into his keep with his remaining forces. It was then that General Duke Michael Deberen his brother was called and the Emperor Michael's Chosen, his brother's own force marched up and began their Siege of Hartley Keep. His brother had been one of the foremost generals of the war and had stopped the rebel lords at the Battle of Duncan Pass which had saved the fate of Dubrack's Town.

He was in his new estate at Horseton but the manor house was basically a shell it had seen a sacking after the Battle of Horseton where the Emperor had clashed with Lord Horseton and a rebel army. He had been on the field that day alongside " Lucky " his trusty second in command. Him and "Lucky" had led the charge on horseback that broke Horseton's right and as the middle aged man who had once been a keen supporter of the national game charged with his own cavalry it was his own sword that had cut Lord Horston's head from his shoulders. He shivered at that memory as " Lucky " pushed his way into the room. " Alright boss " He said in his usual optimistic way despite the long scar running down his cheek.
" I'm fine "Lucky" " He replied and then turned on the radio he kept on his desk. "Lucky" walked up to the whiskey case and took one out and poured himself a drink.
" Why do you still listen to this nonsense boss you know that football isn't something for us Albaieiens anymore. " "Lucky" asked his superior officer as he sat down in his usual arm chair by the fire.
" I don't know "Lucky" we need something to unite this nation and football is one of the things I can see doing it. " He replied turning up the radio as he looked at the grandfather clock in the corner of the room and he saw it was time for the sports bulletin from Radio Esportiva. The two listened to the usual headlines but then one caught his attention.

" In the coming weeks the Campionato Esportica IX qualifications will begin and places are offered to all sovereign nations recognized by Esportiva inside Esportiva. " Read the news reporter in some accent that he didn't recognize.
" You hear that "Lucky" we could get the team from the last World Cup together and enter we might be able to bring back some unity if we do well. " Deberen said optimistically and "Lucky" smiled and then the door opened. A young lad in a pitch black uniform with golden buttons and a pitch black hat with a golden badge emblazoned with the Durback Dubrackson coat of arms on it.
" Brother we getting the old team back." Said Vincent Deberen The Younger who his brother hadn't seen once since returning from the World Cup. He had joined up in the Imperial Black Dubrack's and had been serving behind enemy lines in a commando role where he had been heavily praised for his service and stood before them as a knight and a Colonel of the new Imperial Dark Deberen's his new commando regiment.
" Well then tomorrow i'll travel to Uftorn and hopefully arrive before battle and petition the Emperor to allow us to compete while "Lucky" you recruit the men serving in our own armies and brother go and find those not in the fighting and Queb we'll need Queb " Lord Mark Deberen said and the men grimaced at the name of their once team mate who was now the head of the Anti-War Advar who were engaged against all three armies who were trying to capture the Advar lands for their wealth and natural resources that could win wars.
" Well look like football's making a return. " Vincent said and then looked across the room to where the painting of his father Vincent hung and a sad smile crossed his lips as he remembered how his father still lay in a coma in a hospital bed the accident having occurred at the last Campionato Esportiva.

Licentian National Football Team

After a World Cup where the harmony in the Licentian squad collapsed, and Joachim Schwartz lost all control of the team, the Valhallan fell on his sword, and left to return to Rushmore, with a certain level of frustration at his treatment. The RLIFA acted quickly, and have brought in a man that any Esportivan football fan will be familiar with; Gethin Ramsey. The former New Sideburn head coach, once the bane of Licentian football, will be leading the Cyan-and-Gold in Buyan and the Royal Barangay, hoping that he can increase his personal tally of Campionatos to three, along with the Licentian tally.

Head Coach - Gethin Ramsey (New Sideburn):
Often referred to as “that cocky Sideburnese bastard” before he was hired by the Licentian Isles, Gethin Ramsey has one of the biggest managing reputations in Esportiva, and also one of the biggest mouths. With his style of management previously referred to in New Sideburn as “terror-fuelled”, it isn’t likely that the kind of rebellion led by Aran Miller in Cassadaigua would be stood for by the ballsy Ramsey. With a significant change in style to come for the Isles, it is expected that Ramsey will have a lot to do if he wants to bring another title home.

Goalkeepers:

1 - Shay Jamieson - 27 years - Dinamo Esca (MYT)
12 - Russell Miller - 26 years - Treason (NSB)
13 - Nathan Hunter - 25 years - Abingdon Celtic

Shay Jamieson got a well-deserved move to the Mytanar Top League during the last World Cup, having proven himself enough to get a mvoe away from Carrington. The (almost) undisputed best goalkeeper in Esportiva will have little competition for his spot in the squad, even with Russ Miller and Nathan Hunter making up the best combination of Licentian goalkeepers in history.

Full Backs:

2 – Toby Bishop – 33 years – Carrington United
3 - Donald McLauchlan - 25 years - Matthew City Rangers (NSI)
14 - Max Kennedy - 21 years - Glenmount Town

Toby Bishop will be pleased going into this Campionato, as he no longer has to drag Ajay Walker along in defence. Instead, Matthew City’s Donald McLauchlan will be getting a well-deserved spot as a starter from Gethin Ramsey. With Walker dropped from the squad completely, Max Kennedy, the young Glenmount starlet, will join up with the squad, in the hope of eventually getting a place when Toby Bishop retires.

Centre Backs:

4 – Sam Hill – 29 years - Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS)
5 – Dennis Munro – 28 years - Gaelic Club
15 - Arron Stewart - 26 years - Sabrefell Athletic (NSB)
16 - Grant Ferguson - 28 years - SC Montfort

Sam Hill and Dennis Munro continue to be a very solid defensive pairing for the Cyan-and-Gold, and despite being joined by Arron Stewart in a five man defence towards the end of Schwartz’s era, it doesn’t appear that the Sabrefell midfielder did enough to impress Gethin Ramsey. Grant Ferguson will continue to be simply a squad player for the Isles.

Holding Midfielders:

8 – Grant Torin - 28 years - Munnerput TU (EAR)
17 – Patrick Maclean - 21 years - Highmoor Academical

Nate Parkinson has now retired, meaning that Grant Torin, having recovered from a horrific injury suffered against Mytannion during World Cup qualifying, will get a starting place for the Cyan-and-Gold at the Campionato. Patrick Maclean impressed at the Di Bradini Cup, winning himself a reserve place in the senior squad.

Centre Midfielders:

6 – Ruaraidh Donaldson – 35 years - Abingdon Celtic - C
10 – Josh Brown - 29 years - Abingdon Celtic
18 - Joey Thompson - 25 years - Egloskerry (APX)
19 – Magnus Graham - 27 years - Dartmouth City (GMU)

Ruariadh Donaldson continues on for the Cyan-and-Gold, despite Parkinson and Keir’s retirements. Josh Brown will continue to partner him in midfield, both for club and country. Joey Thompson and Magnus Graham will continue on as reserves, though you should expect them to get a few minutes off the bench.

Attacking Midfielders:

7 – Aran Miller – 22 years - FC Ararat Severyan (MYT)
20 - Ruben Munro - 20 years - Metropolis Alligators (VLD)
21 - Alex Thompson - 19 years - Old Corinthians

Aran Miller has moved inside to fit into Gethin Ramsey’s new formation, as Ramsey recognised his talents when put in a more central role. Ruben Munro, who is a natural attacking midfielder, will be used regularly by the new boss as a substitute, while Alex Thompson, a newcomer to the squad, will be hoping to get a chance to show his incredible pace on the pitch.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Danny Leighton - 26 years - Issington (APX)
11 - Fraser Docherty - 22 years - Neuville Scythers (NSI)
22 - Roddy Dickson - 23 years - RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS)
23 - Cameron McCaleb - 20 years - Gaelic Club

After Alex Keir retired, the traditional Licentian lone striker became extinct, and Danny Leighton will take a starring role at this World Cup, alongside a returning Fraser Docherty, who refused to play for the team during the fascist rule of the Isles. Roddy Dickson also returns, and there is a place for talented young Gaelic Club striker Cameron McCaleb.

Formation – 4-4-2 Diamond:
With Gethin Ramsey taking over the Cyan-and-Gold, he will be using a new twist on the classic 4-4-2 that he employed with New Sideburn. The standard wingers have been replaced by a holding and an attacking midfielder, to make the formation seem a lot more Licentian, although there is no place for the traditional lone striker used by Licentian teams.

Kits - Created by Kirola Sports:

Home Stadium:
Gardiner-Stewart Park, Abingdon
Capacity: 60,000 capacity

Slightly controversially, the Cyan-and-Gold have moved their base to Abingdon Parish, although there is a fair reason; Montfort is rebuilding after the revolution. Gardiner-Stewart Park, named for Celtic and Licentian Isles legend Alex Gardiner-Stewart, who died (sort of) in a plane crash over a decade ago. The stadium, which contains a large terraced section, is likely to be filled with noise and smoke by the Licentian hooligans, who have sprung up in number since the revolution.

Coach: Jules Easton. What many in Chrovan would refer to as a 'World Traveler', in reality he's just vacationed in a handful of other Esportivan nations. Chrovanians don't get out much. He was selected mostly due to his familiarity with both football and international football, having been his school's premier striker back in the day and having done well enough managing the Chrovish team for the past few Compionatos. Not extraordinarily well, but well enough. Apparently we're one of the top teams in Esportiva now. Who knew? With his history as a front-man, he enjoys attacking football, playing about a +4.25 on a scale of -5 to +5. He had held open tryouts before the team's debut rather than dipping into the nation's amateur league, as the standard of play there is terrible. That turned out to be a good decision.
Formation: 3-5-2

Stating XI:
Keeper: Delmar Peck, #1. He's usually good, but when things start to go wrong, they go really wrong.
Left Back: Quincey Booner, #2. A heavy drunkard. He regularly switches between the good kind of physical player and the bad kind.
Center Back: Andrew Law, #3. A fifth-generation lawyer, his family is one of the most respected in Chrovan. He's also quite athletic.
Right Back: Rupert Eustis, #4. A simple turnip farmer. He's a quiet fellow, and very hard working.
Defensive Center: Syd Tolbert, #5. Plays professionally, allegedly. Always changes the subject when you ask where.
Left Wing: Chuck Paddon, #6. A sailor. He's a rather loud fellow, but just as hard working as Eustis.
Center: Marion Steed, #7. A horse raiser. He's gotten quick from having to chase them down.
Center: Brennan Donalds, #8. <Captain> He actually does play football for a living, in Chrovan's amateur league. It's a very amateur league, though. He's won Player of the Year seven years running.
Right Wing: Tracey Rimmer, #9. The Chrovan National Orchestra's lead percussionist, and their pickup-football team's captain.
Left Forward: Brenton Smythe, #10. The only player who's contested Donalds for Player of the Year, he usually loses out do to him being on an overall better team (whereas Donalds carries his entire team by himself).
Right Forward: Donovan Jacobson, #11. He can kick really, really hard.

Bench:
Keeper: Daryl Ingram, #12.
Defender: Nicholas Michael, #13.
Defender: Delbert Lawson, #14.
Defender: Ricki Power, #15.
Winger: Silas Bourke, #16.
Winger: Webster Bishop, #18.
Center: Kurtis Ness, #17.
Center: Bob Traves, #19.
Forward: Willard Bonham, #20.
Striker: Henderson (Mace) Tyrell, #21. The go-to late game substitute; he can make the ball do funny things in the air, and has a penchant for dramatic finishes.

Dandish Roster for Campionato Esportiva IX

Style: -5
Manager: Leven Di Forttye

It's been a long time since Dandillis participated in the World Cup, but it's been a regular somewhat-contender for a few Campionato Esportivas now, which does give the Lions some merit. The team is highly defensive, much unlike their ex-master country Farfadillis. Dandillis is a country known mainly because of one of its most famous players, Ichi Tuzzio, who managed to get to Dandillis' starting line-up and shine during Campionato Esportiva II, before moving to Farfadillis and getting everlasting glory there (well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but he's actually recognized throughout the world). He became the first Dandish-born to qualify for a World Cup (even getting to the quarterfinals twice), and the first Dandish player to play two regional championships (getting a third place four times, in the AOCAF Cups 38, 39, 41 and 42). Also, the only time that Dandillis actually attempted to qualify to the World Cup, they ended up just one point away from the play-off spot due to a saddening last matchday loss, but they ended the competition with their heads straight up.

Starting XI

GK: Harguén Leogonzá
LB: Fer von Vaspipovic
CB: Nier Blain
CB: Iván Dellejé
CB: Svero Fernando
RB: Tiburcio Lago
CDM: Agundí Ferraré
LM: Lerrea Gorkoetzeacha
RM: Alfonz Zarha
ST: Rizzi Fogué
ST: Adán Vavundo

Substitutes

GK: Hogan Gorro
GK: Heoncoro Diferrhe

CB: Ital Di Forrhace
CB: Adam Mbawamba
CB: Leantanthian Howards
RB: Aranzán Zabala
CDM: Fafí Uiguzé
LM: Ander Mondamé
CM: Lee Chan-Sung
RM: Fer Nin-Dogang

I allow my opponent to hand out as many red cards as wanted, as many yellow cards as wanted, godmod all the goals he wants and do pretty much everything that has nothing to do with affecting my players' long-term health.

Eric McNana, GK, 20 y/o, has a degree in fruit medicine
Nana Ba, LB, 28 y/o, usually a banana merchant, seeking for a new experience as footballer
Gregory Peel, CB, 32 y/o, he's the captain, simply because he's the one who managed to eat the most bananas in the competition to decide it
Harry Potah Sium, RB, 22 y/o, loves to read a novel about some sort of wizards
Chuối Thơm-Ngon, CDM, 26 y/o, tends to claim he's a descendent of the holy Vietnamese Banana King, had to stay at a mental hospital for two years because Vietnam's not a nation
Pie Sang, LM, 34 y/o, has black skin, his name literally means banana in some weird dialect nobody understands
Some random monkey, CM, 10 y/o, tends to have even less of an idea of what football is than most players, but hey, it's a monkey after all
Ana Ban, RM, 20 y/o, the only female player in the team
Howard Ish, 18 y/o, somewhat talented, loves to wash dishes
Apple Pear, FST, 27 y/o, plays as a false striker as some sort of condemnation for his blasphemious name

Substitutes

John Banana, GK

Pota Ssium, CDM
Chill Pill, ST
Bana Ssium, ST

(OOC: This is set two years after the Cup of Harmony, much has changed in The Sarian, my rooster details the basic information.)

“When I go to the press conference before the game, in my mind the game has already started.” ~ Jose Mourinho

Press Room A
The Sarian National Football Centre
King William City
Greater King William Area
KW1 RFC

"So, Leonard, what's the hardest bit of the job?"

Smile, it's the easiest thing to do. Smile. Lights flash, taking the picture, one is never enough. Newspapers always seem bent on taking about 50, if they like you they will use a nice one, if they don't... Well, lets hope you don't pick your nose.

"Well, you know, it's not easy. You have to think 24/7 what if I play him here? How will I break down there back line? What can I do which is inventive? It's hard to be risky, if it pays off you're a hero, if not, well you write the stories. The press pressure is very hard. But the hardest is trying to motivate at team that has very little chance of winning. That is what it was like in the Cup of Harmony. The team was too negative. Maybe we could have snatched a point against Super-Llamaland? Maybe? We will never know. I don't want that to happen again in this competition. I want a team that says yeah, we might lose but lets go see if we can win."

"So you think you can walk away from your group and into the playoffs?"

"I think I would be a madman to think we could. We are unranked in the CE. But could we pull a shock third? Maybe. Could we take points off the big boys and open the group up? Maybe. We were good at drawing with bigger teams. You don't need me to tell you that our last win was against Pasarga, they are ranked 99 places higher then us."

"You only picked 18 players, why is that?"

"Well, I don't know if you know this bu-"

"Excuse me, eSarian, you have asked all your designated questions." Press Officers, got to love them, they think they are shutting up the stupid journalist but they normally just ensure someone else will ask it. "We will move on to Carol McGreedy and the The Heretick now.

Ah, The Heretick, the satirical magazine of The Sarian.

"The E makes a good point, why have picked 18 players instead of 23 and then included fourteen year olds like Peters and Lee? Do you hate the national team?"

"Oh you make me laugh. I love The Sarian, I love football and I love my job, of course I don't hate the national team. I chose my squad with who I thought would do the best, you don't like it, then put down your pen, go into management and steal my job. Go on, I dare you to do better."

Well, it's a good thing I don't pick my nose.

"Does anyone have any further questions?" The Press Officer yet again trying to act like their job meant something. "No? Then we will now leave, come on Leonard."

Final sip of water and then leave, easiest thing to do, I've never liked easy. Easy bores me.

"One final thing, watch us then judge. Thank you."

Final statement, then leave, fatal thing to do. Lets just hope that we don't lose every game, because then they will judge. Especially tacky tabloids.

The Press Officer is young, about 25 years old, a female. Hair cut short and the lack of make-up, and by the look of it bra, suggests she is one of these feminists who have never been kissed. The name tag said she was called Barbara. Horrible name.

"Why did you give up politics?"

"Because telling the truth is something I pride myself on."

***

It was about an hour to go before we left when Godfrey turned up in my office. Unlikable, that is what I thought of him at first. The way his bald spot reflected the light still annoys me, but although he doesn't often show it, he is a tactical genius.

"Everyone turned up?"

"Yes. They are in the VIP lounge of the Airport now. Strictly no press and I have made sure they can't read any tabloids. You know what they are all saying about the team selection."

"And you know I don't give a fuck about what they say?"

"Indeed sir, but some of the younger players will."

"Fine good thinking. They all ok? William and Jordan?"

"They're fine."

"So do you know the team for Sakhovelo?"

"No idea who they are playing, their stars etc. We could either win or lose this. Most likely lose but a draw would be good."

"Just don't let the players hear you say that."

"Anyway, half an hour till the flight, lets go speak to them."

AirBustard Flight
Above Sakhovelo
Esportiva

So this is actually amazing, I am on a flight to Sakhovelo, I have gone from loosing 7-1 in the Third Division three weeks ago to this plane, this luxury and this national team. Lots of people don't want me here but do I care? No. This is actually amazing.

Three days ago, I thought this was a wind up. Like, seriously. A proper wind-up. Leonard phoned me up and said I was in the squad. I told him to piss off. Thinking it was a troll. Two hours later, I got a knock on the door. It was my managerial idol, yeah I want to be a manager one day.

He was all "I hope you don't tell me to piss off this time." Now, call me stupid but this confused me - I'm not actually stupid but lots of people think I am, common sense alludes me. Anyway, my brain must have registered that call under 'definitely not Leonard Heathwait' because I completely forgot about it. In short, I was really, really confused.

I guess Leonard could see that I was really confused, "You are William Peters right?"

"I can be whoever you want me to be." You see, my brain does that to me sometimes. It just feels like going, hey lets see how you listen to me, say something stupid.

"Oh shit, sorry, my brain is a bit of a dick. Oh crap, sorry. I shouldn't swear in front of you. Holy fuck I am stupid..." Yeah, I really said that. Then I decided to put my hand over my mouth and keep it there.

Lucky for me Leonard laughed, that surprised me at the time. When I see him on TV he never laughs. He's very serious, like really serious.

"Just came to tell you I wasn't joking, you're in the squad for the Campionato Esportiva. Here are your tickets. I will see you there."

Those three days were kind of a blur, packing then taking a helicopter from the Isle of Tench to Chippenham, meeting everyone. They're all real nice for international footballers, all shaking my hand and wishing me luck.

Its actually kind of strange, meeting your heroes. I was talking with Wiley like two hours ago and halfway through our conversation, I just burst out with "This is so weird, I watch you on TV and now I am going to play football with you." I am so awkward sometimes...

"Gentlemen, we will be arriving in Sakhovelo in five minutes, please put your seat in the upright position."

Landing is quite possibly the worst bit about flying, of course living on the Isle of Tench, I seem to have to do it a lot. I used to hate it. I moved there about 5 years ago, when I was 9, I originally was from Beckwith in Ceremonial Chippenham, I liked it there, Beckwith is a nice city, yeah its filled with a lot of snobs but it means there isn't lots of crime like in other cities.

While I'm on the subject of me, I should really say more about me. Did that make sense? I don't know... Anyway, I have ashy blonde hair, kind of messy. No, very messy. My eyes are blue sometimes and grey other times, my nose is wonky from where I broke it - twice and I am very tall but I have no muscle in my arms. Like really, none. I see no point in it. I have quite good leg muscles but that's what you get when you're a footballer and I have a six pack but no arm muscles. Not like I would get in a fight anyway, so why would I use them?

I was born in Beckwith, my parents split up when I was six, I live with my mum and my younger brother. I play in defence for Tench Town, currently third from bottom in the Ampstrad Third Division. And now I play for The Sarian, or at least sit on the bench for The Sarian. It's all good.

So, the plane landed, I got off and of course there was loads of reporters, I tried to look cooler but all I did was looked worried as fuck. Of course, there were some fans who wanted autographs so some players went over to them - but who would want my autograph?

Basically, I tried to get to the awaiting coach as quickly as possible without looking like it. I tried asking my brain for help but it must have been having a lye-in because all I can think was 'errrrrrrrr'.

"Come on, lets get out of here. Fast." It was Jordan, he looked like everything I wanted, cool and collected with his headphones on.

"But how?"

"By walking to the bus, silly" I liked this guy.

"Yeah I know that, but how do we look like we're not just running away from the crowds?" By crowds, I meant press. Ever since the announcement of my inclusion to the Sarian Squad, they haven't liked me very much. Can't pick one up, shame, because I like reading which celebrity is shagging who.

"You just act like we're deep in conversation and have forgot about them. Come on, lets walk. So where are you from?"

"I live in the Isle of Tench, but I am originally from Beckwith."

"Oh my god, same, I live in KWC now."

"What's it like in the city anyway?"

"In a word, rude. You're pretty much invisible as people hustle passed you, ah look we're here." The coach was big. I mean big. Like big. Really, really big. I think I've said big too much now but holy crap it was big.

See, for an international footballer, I am very clumsy. Yep, you guessed it, I tripped over the top step, luckily Jordan cached me.Unluckily, it just made both of us fall to the ground in fits of laughter.

"You lads aright?" Coach drivers, always lovely people, most of them get paid very little and hope to get an autograph.

Eventually, everyone else in the team piled on and we made the short journey to our hotel. Born in Beckwith, I wasn't a stranger to luxury, but this was ten times more luxurious then anything I had ever seen.

We went into the hotel, got our rooms (I was sharing with Jordan) and then had a team meeting, as expected I was on the bench. Went back to our rooms, had a shower and went to sleep. It's a big day tomorrow, none of us wanted to fuck it up.

Look, I know I said this earlier but this is actually amazing.

He had lead the war effort , he had liberated the Sarian people from the ironically named Liberation Party and now he was staring defeat in the face. Just one day until polls open in The Sarian general elections, the first since the civil bloodbath, and the Conservative Party were 7 points behind the United Liberals. Landslide, not for him; not for traditional conservative values but for modern liberalism, it was clear what had happened, the old voters of Liberation had just switched to UL. The once forth largest party was now looking at it's first majority. Michael Bryan knew something had to change.

Yes, he had tried rallying, but everyday it looked more and more likely that the Liberals and their ridiculous devolution policies would triumph. Had they thought of the cost of this? The Sarian has 14 provinces and 2 Greater Metropolitan Areas, imagine the cost of supplying a legislature to each. And how do they plan to pay for this? Cutting taxes. It is a road to financial decline.

No-one wanted to hear about the sensible measures to ensure unity and prosperous growth. People want to hear about the boom with little thought for the bust.

He had a speech planned for later today, a final chance to win voters, but Michael Bryan already knew it wasn't enough. The United Liberals were already cruising, but then so was the titanic.

competing for

The 9th Campionato Esportiva

Staff
Manager: Rick MARTINEZ (56)
The former manager of Deportivo Nespa, where he won the domestic treble last season. He was appointed with the job on a permanent basis after he guided the national team to another Round of 16 appearance at the Cup of Harmony at Valanora, on which he was managing the team on an interim basis. Martinez is a tackler for discipline and he is willing to drop any player he feels that is not ready for a match. He also schedules training for the senior squad two to three times a week, and anyone who misses training has a low probability of starting the next match.

Assistant Manager: Lorick MANGABAY (44)
Assistant of Rick Martinez while at Deportivo Nespa. He always follow what Rick wants, but he is a hardworking staff. He usually gathers data of upcoming opponents in any way he can, and show it to Rick in order to formulate tactics against them.

Coaches: Jervin Datu (36), Dickson Atencio (36), Soren Morin (41), Isaiah Alquiros (55)
Physios: Solomon Andalencio (44), Edmund Aborita (61)

Style: +2.05
A slightly attacking formation, Martinez utilizes his wingers to deliver dangerous crosses and usually employs overlapping of wingers and fullbacks. This tactic was always seen when he managed the Los Islenos and don't be surprised when he uses it again effectively.
Formation: 4-2-3-1, switching to a 4-4-2 diamond or a 4-1-2-2-1

Stadia
The matches against San Jose Guayabal and Felix will take place in StadiumSangti in Sangti, the capital of The Royal Barangay. This stadium has a capacity of 60000, and hosted the Series B Champions's Cup 46 final and the Final stages of the inagural Youth Cup. The stadium is formerly known as the Estadio Ferdinand Marcos (or El Dictator in short). The pitch in the stadium is of natural grass, however, talks are ongoing whether the KPMB would convert it into artificial grass. Currently there are no tenants in this stadium, while local club CF Sangti (CF Ciudad Sangti for licensing purposes) are planning to lease the stadium for its NSPL games. This is the former home of the national team, until the move to the nearby Estadio Olimpico prior to World Cup 67 qualifying.

The match against Blackclyffe will take place in Nueva Estadio de Isla Nespa, in Isla Nespa, The Royal Barangay. The 45000 capacity stadium is one of the state of the art stadiums in the Royal Barangay, with artificial grass, VIP boxes, electronic adboards and scoreboards, and a retractable roof. The stadium is shared between two rival island clubs, Deportivo Nespa and Ryne Savio. The stadium is situated in the border of the Nespa and Ryne provinces.

Kits

The Barangayan National team will wear kits made from Kirola Sports of Audioslavia. The home kit will be yellow with red, blue and black thin horizontal lines, accompanied by yellow shorts and black socks. The away kit will be black with red, blue and yellow diagonal lines, with black shorts and yellow socks. The GK Kit will be supplied by X Sport, with the first kit being green with black accents and the second being gray with green accents. The old away kit, red and blue hoops with red shorts and yellow socks, will now serve as the third/alternate kit.

#14-GK-Danny Ramirez-28 y/o-Frontera de Matamoros
An alumnus of College Station A&M's soccer team and the first Tejano to win collegiate all-Texacano honors at goalkeeper. Has led Matamoros to the semifinals of the Copa Republicana.

#22-FB-Timmy Gonzales-23 y/o-Apodaca
A rising star on a relatively dull team, Gonzales is a major reason why Apodaca has stayed in the middle of the LPRG table and not sunk any lower than it is. Thought to be restless and possibly considering another contract while he's still young.

#19-CB-Jamal Roarke-26 y/o-FC Rocky Point Peacemakers
A Gadsden native, popular in his home state for aggressive, physical play, and tough challenges. Also well-known for playing on injuries and having a short temper. A gridiron player playing soccer, in many respects.

#13-CB-Chris Brock-28 y/o-Torreos de Torreon
The eldest and by far the most experienced of the back three for Texacano. A career player for Torreos with many Copa appearances, as well as a third-place trophy in the most recent International FireStorm Cup.

#16-DM-Kermit Fletcher-27 y/o-FC Tucson
A relatively recent appearance on the football radar with FC Tucson's near-miraculous double crown of the Gadsden Premier Division and Copa Republicana. An athletic, tenacious player and a veteran of Gadsden's "hooligan" style of play.

#14-CM-Chewey Garcia-28 y/o-Nomonwoth Hunters (Allinlia)
A nigh-inexhaustible, but conservative player, known as a "quarterback" at home. Transferred to Allinlia to avoid trouble with salary caps in Texacano, and has seen several good seasons for the Hunters.

#17-LW-Don Danielson-26 y/o-Round Rock United
A good player for a good team, likely selected for his famous rapport with star striker Brandon McConaghey. Has good field vision, and is a left-footed kicker.

#13-RW-Cristobal del Rey-25 y/o-Santa Catarina
A young star on a rapidly-sinking team. Will be looking to impress foreign clubs in this edition of the Campionato. Fast, and capable of playing the entire right side.

#15-OM-Raymond Costello-21 y/o-Hampshire United (FEL)
A precocious young star from the Del Rio youth system, left his hometown club in order to pursue his dream of playing top-flight football in Felix for Hampshire United. The youngest player on the team, and among the fastest.

#6-FW-Brendan McConaghey-30 y/o-Round Rock United (captain)
The undisputed leader of this team as well as the venerable Round Rock United juggernaut. A household name even in his native Tejas, where soccer takes a backseat to gridiron.

#7-FW-Nicholas Schank-27 y/o-Riopelle S.L. (UTL)
A rising star stifled by work permit-related restrictions, he has burst onto the scene in Utilitas, demonstrating a great deal solid play that has earned him a starting job for the Lobos.
