The International Collegiate Rugby Championship (for short, ICRC) is a proposed College Rugby Union Championship. The new ICRC follows the steps of the original ICRC, ran by Aquitayne in 2013. Nations must present evidence of competition, or its signups won't be accepted.

Only college rugby teams will be accepted. Club Teams will only be accepted if a connection with a University is explicit in its name.

Number of teams allowed:
  • Single-Nation leagues may have two applicant teams.
  • Multinational leagues may have three applicant teams, with a maximum of two per nation.

A provisional deadline for signups is July 1, at the same time of provisional Champions Trophy deadline, and may be further altered.

Most info should come shortly, when and as needed. For any inquiries, PM me.
The Principality of Lisander, a sports loving, very highly developed nation in Astyria.
Disappointing people and missing deadlines since 2013.

2040-41 Darmeni Rugby Union Season
Pre-Season | NRC | DCAA-Rugby

A late start to the season due to the World Cup meant that competition didn't get underway for the 15 franchises of the National Rugby Championship until November. Liverpool RFU claimed the Sevens Series, while a week later the newly named Metro Saracens won the Tens competition.

The Coastal Golden Chiefs and Western Border Warriors also competed in the RUCT competition, adding an additional eight matches to their schedule. The Warriors were only able to win three of their eight matches, placing a disapointing fourth in Group D. The Golden Chiefs on the other hand dominated their group, Group B, going undefeated in all eight matches and advanced to the Quarterfinals. There they met the Burgunden Brawlers of Neu Engollon, and despite the best efforts of the Brawlers, won both Quarterfinal matches in order to advance to the Semifinals. Last seasons' runners-up, Osea Rugby of Alice Bay, were no match for their Darmeni opposition, being shut out in their first match and unable to overcome the aggregate deficit in the second leg. The Golden Chiefs victory meant their first trip to the RUCT final, and the first for a Darmeni team since the competition's twelfth edition, when Tim City AC defeated Montbenoit Old Boys of Saugeais, 31-6.

The expansion of the National Rugby Championship from fourteen to fifteen teams necessitated a change in competition format. The reduction in matches from 24 to 16, and the separation of the teams into three divisions, created a great deal of change in the fortune of various teams. The Golden Chiefs for instance, despite reaching the RUCT Final, won only seven of their sixteen matches, and finished tied on points (34) with Metro Saracens. If the regular season had ended with some different than usual results, the Quarterfinals were also far from ordinary. The Golden Chiefs lost to the Southwestern Blue Tigers, ending any hopes for them to repeat as NRC champions. In two of the other three quarterfinal matchups, two teams with home field advantage were unable to put it to good use, as both the Northeastern Sharks and Menomonie RFU lost by the score of 10-0.

In the Semifinals, the Western Border Warriors were seeking redemption for their poor RUCT showing. They were unable to pull off the victory however in a low scoring affair with the Southwestern Blue Tigers, a late conversion attempt sliding just wide of the uprights. In the other semifinal, Liverpool RFU pulled a shocking upset over the Rogerton Blues, the team that had looked the strongest throughout the regular season, winning 10-3.

The Final pitted the Southwestern Blue Tigers and Liverpool RFU against each other. The Blue Tigers, despite only having 39% possession, put their kicking game to superb use, keeping the Liverpudlians in their half of the field for well over two-thirds of the match. Unable to get into range for any kind of scoring attempt, the team from Darmen's second largest city ended the match with zero points. Meanwhile, the Blue Tigers scored a try (converted) and two penalty goals to end with thirteen points and claim their second NRC championship.

To bring the season to its final conclusion, the Golden Chiefs ran onto the pitch for the most important match in their franchises history, against reigning champions Oshkosh Dnistrosh. For most pundits and bookmakers, the choice of Oshkosh Dnistrosh to win the match was an easy one, the team had gone undefeated throughout the entire competition, and had outscored its opposition by 327-41. But for the Darmeni media and especially the Golden Chiefs themselves, a mood of optimism and mild confidence was clearly evident. An unconverted try in the first half by Oshkosh Dnistrosh may have hurt that confidence in some other teams, but not for the Golden Chiefs, who grew even more confident after keeping their previously high scoring opposition at bay. The two fullback arrangement of the Darmeni team and its seeming over eagerness to kick rather than run with the ball left the Oshkosh Dnistrosh coaching staff scrambling to find a way to improve their team's performance. One was not forthcoming. A penalty kick in the 63rd minute brought the Darmenis within two points of victory. With only a handful of minutes left in the match, Darmeni substitute international Full Back Remus Power capped off an excellent performance by scoring and converting a spectacular try which followed the kind of miss-kick by the fullback of Oshkosh Dnistrosh that's normally only seen in a football match. Power took home MVP honors, and many of the Darmeni newspapers had headlines of "Power 10, Oshkosh Dnistrosh 5" the next day.

The Darmeni Collegiate Athletic Association ran a collegiate rugby competition, the first of its kind in Darmeni history. The Institute of People Studies defeated the National Fire Academy, 18-6 in the final to claim the inaugural championship. Both teams qualify to the brand new International Collegiate Rugby Championship (ICRC)

For at least this edition, The NationStates Rugby Board will take care of Rugby Union Champions Trophy.

We currently have thirteen signups. Northwest Kalactin, please have a look at your tables, they miss the information for each row, so I'm not completely assured of every factor your table indicates. I expect at least two more nations. So we'll have 17 teams, and only a single round of playoffs before group stage.

The Final Deadline for Rugby Union Championship 28 is set 72 hours from now: GMT 12h30 of July the 4th.

Based on these results, the Lisanderian qualifiers to ICRC are:
Trinity College
Politechnica Soria

YET, considering the low attendance of ICRC until now, I'm postponing the deadline of this competition again. A new tentative cutoff should be around here soon. I keep searching for more teams to join this championship.
