A Description

Falconfar is a nation of three planets circling a sun. The planets are named Falcon, Gyron, and Isildar.
Falcon is populated by Birdmen.
Gyron is populated by humans.
Isildar is populated by sapient turtles.
There are also four inhabited moons - Iona and Darius, which orbit Falcon; Teranoa, which orbits Gyron, and Misari, which orbits Isildar.

Format: Best sixteen, period, make it to playoffs. Hard knockouts. Only exception: Secondary Hockey League, with ten teams in playoffs.

Association Soccer in Falconfar

In Falconfar, there are two tiers of play. The Falconfar Premier League, made up of Premier Division A and Premier Division B, are the top tier divisions, while the Falconfar B League has Division A, Division B, Division C, and Division D. The bottom two teams of the Premier Divisions will each by relegated while the champions of the B League Divisions will be promoted.

The first round saw plenty of upsets as the Blue Jackets stunned the Flyers and the Terror snuck by the Executioners. Although the Blue Jackets and the Terror were eliminated this round, ending any possible chances of a Cinderella story of the lowest seeds, there were plenty of upsets on this round. Qillan, who finished 17th overall in Tier A, was upset by a very determined Ducks team. Iona City dodged Sandrali, and Ytriba upset Jackson, which was to be expected since Jackson finished last in Tier A. Janesville, though, hung tough against the Champions. Victoria City and Cassion wrapped up the upsets. The winners of this round faced the heavyweights.

The biggest shock of the 3rd round came at the hands of the Ytriba Shock, who eliminated 3rd ranked Loreza from the tournament. Pyria, however, rolled to a 3-0 win, and Manvero exploded for an unheard-of seven goals. From this point on, the brackets became final, and the winners of subsequent matches would play each other in the next round. Notable matchups in the Round of 16 would include Pyria vs North Irswabi and Ytriba vs Baratoko, which is a battle of the underdogs who upset their way here so far. With Kassa Neoren and Iona City eliminated, Ytriba became the lowest seed in the running at 17th seed in the B tier. None of the teams that won the lower tier divisions survived this round.

Ytriba continued its unbelievable run by defeating also-upstart Baratoko in penalty kicks. All the other matches ended in teams that should have won winning. Ytriba will next try to defeat the Crusaders. Manvero continued its offensive showcasing abilities, while Pyria ran all over the Comets.

The Shock continued the amazing fun by shutting out the Crusaders, Pikana scored a goal in injury time to defeat Premier Division B champion Iona Junction, and Manvero hung on for a win against Iriwati. Starting the semifinals, the teams will play two matches and take the aggregate score.

Semifinals Leg 1

Manvero Heroes 3-1 Ytriba Shock

The Shock looked tired, losing to the Heroes, while Pyria hung on for a gutsy win over the Pirates. The teams will now head to the other stadium to play the second leg.

Pikana Pirates 1-2 Pyria Thunder
Ytriba Shock 3-1 Manvero Heroes

The Thunder cemented a spot in the finals while the Shock somehow managed to tie the series at four goals apiece. Ytriba and Manvero will have to play one final match, played at a neutral site.

The Shock became the Cinderellas of the tournament once again, defeating the Heroes, and setting up a David and Goliath matchup against the seemingly unstoppable Thunder.

Ytriba Shock win Falconfar Cup I

The Ytriba Shock, a team from the little moon of Darius, won the Falconfar Cup in penalty kicks, and will be representing Falconfar in the Cygnus Cup. This team, which finished in seventeenth place in the bottom tier, somehow ran the table and took the prize.

Falconfar Premier Hockey League

Of the sixty-four sporting cities in Falconfar, only forty-two of them play Hockey. It isn't popular in any of the Moons, and each planet has fourteen teams each. The forty-two teams are divided into two conferences of twenty-one, with the top four of each conference advancing to the playoffs.

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Four Planets Cup! Each season, the best football teams from each of the three planets of Falconfar will take on one nation's best team to determine the cup champion. It has been decided that every year, a different planet will play the opposing team. Falcon, Gyron, and then Isildar will take its turns...

Held in the Queen's Dome in Irswabi, Falconfar, this tournament is set to be a fixture for many years to come!

This year's edition includes:

Representing Ossidiacqua's Campiocinato A-Liga: Qolo-Qolo
* - If there isn't a team in the top eight of the Premier League belonging to any planet, that spot will go to the best team from a Moon.

Team Summary:

There was a stir in Falconfar when the news came out that Vincevol would be participating in the inaugural edition of the Four Planets Cup. A team that finished fifth in league going to this competition? A team that gave up as many goals as it scored? Such an idea was absurd to most Falconfarians, but the rules were clear - the best team from Falcon would play, and the Stars were that. Managed by Kaiser William, Jr., the Stars had a up-and-down year. They did dish out twelve shutouts, but they were almost shut out that many times; they just never seemed to be able to get up on anyone and hold the lead. Such apathetic play didn't go unnoticed, and the Stars were the subject of many jokes during the season.

That isn't to say that the Stars don't have any good players. Quite the contrary, there are three great players on the Roster, and ironically, none of them are Halil'Quan, on the planet of the Halil'Quan. First, there is Ilirea Neoketchen. A nineteen year old from Pyria, she is the knife for the Stars, scoring fifteen goals, most of them on wicked-angle shots that bewilder the mind. Her efforts didn't go unnoticed as she became the Captain of the U-21 Team. Known for her speed and agility, Ilirea should be a major force in the league for many years to come.

Then, there is Patricia Rumgardson in the midfield. Vincevol's five-man midfield makes it so that the middle midfielder, the position that Patricia occupies, can play up front with the forwards while the winger midfielders can help the defense. Patricia excelled this season, scoring ten goals and dishing out fifteen assists, seven of them to Ilirea. For a brief stretch, they were known as the Hammer and the Sickle as they made mincemeat of the opposing teams' defenses.

At the backfield, trying to help defend the goal, is Lyra Uttensen. This rather diminutive woman of 20 years of age played perhaps the hardest position on the Stars' team - defenders. Sometimes, Lyra and her partner, Mykko, would be the only ones trying to keep the ball away from the goal. Although the Stars did give up forty-six goals this season, Lyra's ability to deflect balls and to deftly pass the ball up-field gained her a spot on the U-21 team.

If there is a weak spot on this team, it is that if Patricia or Ilirea didn't score, no one would. With twenty-five goals, or over half, coming from them, and nobody else even scoring five goals, it was a two-woman show, and when these two struggled, so did the team. Although the Stars did advance to the Quarterfinals in the inaugural edition of the Falconfar Cup, there are many skeptics out there about this team. They are missing too many pieces to be a serious contender, and the general consensus is that the Stars will be easy prey for the Acquans before Qolo-Qolo faces either Pyria or Loreza, two better teams, for the Cup.

A statement from Kaiser William, Jr.:
"We've had a pretty rough season, sure, but I wouldn't write us off. I have the utmost respect for the Acquan team, but they aren't used to playing against Halil'Quan and Xe'Notl. I think we can give them one heck of a game with Patricia and Ilirea. And yes, they are both being talked to by other clubs in the offseason, that is true. However, I think that we can focus, get out there, and hopefully get ourselves a win."

Team Summary:

Pyria Thunder fans are still smarting after the Ytriba Shock, one of the teams from the B-League, upset their team to win the inaugural edition of the Falconfar Cup. This loss, although it hurt, did nothing to phase how successful Pyria's season had been: Under the direction of Franklim Ordonez of Mangolana, the team had won the Falconfar League and taken the title of the best team in Gyron, which was no easy task as many of the top teams were from Gyron itself. In fact, it was Matchday 43 out of 44 when Thunder fans could relax, for it was then that Pyria had a six-point lead on the Manvero Heroes with one matchday to go.

Star talent in the Thunder? Where does one begin? I suppose one cannot talk about the Thunder without mentioning the unquestionable leader of the Thunder and the national team, Loria Votmk. This Xe'Notl scored twenty goals in domestic play, and was absolutely dominant on the pitch. Often using the unconventional technique of deflecting the ball off of her shell, she was the best on the pitch, and that led her to being Captain of the National Team.

However, Loria wasn't the only goal-scoring force this season. In fact, what made Pyria so dangerous was that the entire forward four scored lots of goals. Michael Vixen scored ten while Peter Demitriov and Ivanova Jusikora scored nine and eleven, respectively. Also of interest was the fact that there were no assists by any of the forwards, meaning the midfielders helped the attack out a lot. Vokka Jurok, who ended up on the U-21 team, and Luke Ingors both contributed to have more than ten assists each.

The Thunder were perhaps the most consistent team throughout the season and by far the most accomplished.

"We've come a long ways since Matchday 1, but the goal has always been the same: Do your best, play hard, and have fun. As long as we keep doing that, we'll be fine."

Team Summary:

To the dismay of Falconfar Premier Division B fans, all of the representatives of the Empire this time came from Division A. Loreza this season had its ups and downs. They led the league in scoring with fifty-seven goals, but gave up forty-five, being one of the worst defenses. Losing to the Ytriba Shock in Round 3 wasn't exactly what they had in mind in the Falconfar Cup, but the season was a solid one and one that one could really build on.

Loreza's five-man midfield made things tough on other defenses. Kiki-Nsai Nankiri, although not possessing a impressive stat line, made it as a reserve on the national team because she usually had the pass before the pass that scored the goal, making her talents invaluable. Also of note was Wu-Te Qanso, who had eight assists and earned an outright spot on the national team. Victor Manz, Liam Uggarddson, and Timothy Hemmock did the heavy scoring work for the Racers, but none of them made it on any of the squads - reason being that their games were considered to be too offensive and not well rounded enough.

Vi-Si Rockesai had an up and down year on the back end, but her flashes of brilliance earned her the starting keeper role on the U-21 team.

Loreza's game plan during the season was simple - score more than the other team. Defense came second, but even the defenders helped out with the attacking, contributing five assists each.

Loreza's manager, Li-Tro Mehnsi:
"'Twas an interesting year, it was. We had our ups and downs, but I believe we took the right step forward. I know the Thunder think that they will defeat us with no problem, but we have something coming for them. If they don't watch out, we'll clip them and run away with the win. You just see."

Qolo-Qolo

As the only member of the "big four" to not come from Sant'Elia, and by far the biggest team outside of the capital, Qolo-Qolo are a fascinating club, and are probably the best supported in the country - their colossal stadium Il Cratere seats the most of any domestic stadium. In their history they have undergone large periods where they haven't won anything, even slipping to to the second tier on many occasions, these are back up with huge periods of dominance however, and so their unwavering support is satisfied regularly with trophies. Their recent Campiocinato win could well be the start of something big for the boys from the crater, and the teams from Sant-Elia could well be casting their eyes enviously out towards Sant-Antioco once more.

After the first season of the Falconfar Football League, a few things were changed:
1. The two Premier Divisions were joined to one. The schedule will be home-and-away for a total of forty-six games. Bottom four will be relegated.
2. The B-League Divisions are now split into a B League and a C League, of twenty teams each. Four promoted to B League; Four relegated to C League. Top four of B League to Premier League.
3. The Falconfar Cup will now be all a home-and-away series until the final, which will be one game. Bottom thirty-two, then next sixteen, then next sixteen. All bracketed.
4. Winner automatically advances to TQCC, next three to Globe, next two to Campeones, next two to Principes.
5. Top four teams of each division of the B League to the SBCC.

Analysis:
In Premier Conference A, Frauhofen and Orion City showed their supremacy. The race for the last playoff spot between Iona Junction and New Sandoval was close but the Marlins never came too close. The race to avoid relegation, however, wasn't decided until after Matchday 72.

In Premier Conference B, Wurlington rose to the top once again. The race to avoid relegation wasn't decided until Matchday 73, leading to many nailbiting matches for the Tappers and the Champions until the Tappers of Locksgren prevailed.

In Secondary Conference A, Iona City barely escaped with the regular season title. In Secondary Conference B, Esul hung on till the end.

Pyria had to survive a very tough Canesbrough squad to win, 1-0, while Garland-Hart scored another brace as the Defenders won yet again. Ju-Iro Tanawasi, the Iona Junction Spiders Manager and the Manager of the national team, is starting to take some heat after the 2-0 loss to the Heroes left the Spiders with only five points after five matches.

Pyria's tie with Manvero wasn't pretty, but both teams played well. Garland-Hart's teammate, Ju-Tsai Moren, played the hero this time as the Defenders ran away with the game in the second half. South Irswabi handed Ju-Iro a 5-0 thrashing that won't be forgotten anytime soon, and the Spiders were left with a sense of panic.

The Spiders continue to fall - losing to the lowly Pride - while the Defenders just can't lose. Garland-Hart scored two goals in the first half, and the Defenders prevailed. Pyria thrashed the Tigers 5-0 a game after the Tigers defeated Iona Junction in the same fashion... which was an interesting coincidence.

Iona Junction and Loreza have been horrible so far, while Mara Kora, freshly off of a promotion, is currently in a Globe Cup spot. Nobody expects Pyria to stay down in eighth place for too long, but it may take all they have for the Spiders, Racers, and Heroes to escape relegation. Of course, there are still thirty-five games left to play, but right now, those three teams that should be contenders don't look so good.

After being relegated last year, Janesville is in the lead for promotion by three points over Victoria City, not losing a single game through nine. The bottom is a mess, but there has only been nine games so far, so hopefully, as the season goes on, things will clear up.

Changes This Season
A Developmental League was created that is actually the Farm System for the MLBF. Each club in the MLBF has a developmental club in the DBL.
OOC: Half rank of the DBL's team is transferred to the "parent" team before the next season
Also, there is a four-team Scout League for the raw rookie talent.
