VII Olympic Winter Games — Roster / Information thread

The main purpose of this thread is to post your rosters in the team sport events — curling, ice hockey, bandy, and snowball fighting. Any IC information (national anthems, traditions, etc) that might not belong in the RP thread goes here. Most notably, this means your nation's flag bearer. You can also name officials, judges, and other prominent non-competing characters in this thread. You should not feel the need to repost your signup here — only your teams. If you wish, you may include a link to your signup post.

Other questions? Put it into the OOC thread (the signup thread) here.

Really potentially useful information:
National anthem of Kelssek: The Maple Leaf Forever/Toujours la feuille d'érable

More information about Kelssek than is healthy for you is available on NSWiki. The link is in my sig.

Teams for ice hockey
The full men's A team does not typically play in the Olympics due to the domestic league already being upset by having the players whisked off for the World Cup so often.

Ice Hockey

Ice Hockey has never achieved a great level of popularity in Carmadin. While Carmadin clubs compete in the Southern Rushmore Super League, along with Darmen’s prestigious teams, Carmadin teams have never taken a position higher than fifth in the league. The best (not saying much) Carmadin Teams would be either Abo HC or Bordertown CRM. While they have had minor successes in the SRSL and the Champion’s Hockey League, it is a safe bet that Domestic Hockey will not explode into Carmadin in the future.
The National Team has done little in it’s two appearances. In the World Cup (the one before the most recent one), the team amounted to little, leaving the Group Stage with an abysmal record. The Rushmori Championship, the Coupe Coutu, did little to restore confidence in Carmadin Hockey, as again, Carmadin lost in the group stages, including a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chenkorya, sparking a one-sided rivalry. While Carmadin fans are crazy about sports, expect to see the Men’s games sparsely attended. Also expect, however, for the small smattering of Hockey loyalists there to be loud, vocal, ardent, and sometimes ridiculous. And now, I give to you, Carmadin’s National Men’s Hockey Team!

Lohn’l’ðihn Þohch’hn (the Svendogarddi immigrant’s name is the only case in the entire nation in which the Characters “ð and Þ” are used. Actually, the sound “th” is uncommon in the extreme in the Carmadin language. To have the sound occur twice in a name is rare. To have the sound occur twice in a name and be written in Svendogarddi Characters is even rarer. For ye who can’t read Svendogarddi, his name is pronounced “Lohn’l’thihn Thohch’hn”. The Jerseys are in English transliteration, all caps, so his name reads: LOHN’L’ÐIHN ÞOHCH´HN. Fun fun)

On the other hand, Women’s Ice Hockey in Carmadin is strong, and vibrant, and all the rage. The CWHL is currently in formation, and the Women’s National Team is actually damn good. The same team that took Bronze in the Ice International Championships in Camwood will compete in Neverend:

Information relating to the host NOC:

Official full name: First Republic of Liventia (Première république liventienne)
Formal name: Republic of Liventia (République liventienne)
Short: Liventia (Liventie)
Sporting code: LEN
National adjective: Liventian (liventien/liventienne)
National languages: English and French official
Capital: Orean
National motto: Paix, justice, liberté [French; 'Peace, justice, freedom']
National anthem: The Call of the Liventian Republic (L'Appel de la république liventienne)
National Olympic Committee: Liventia Olympic Association (Comité olympique liventien)

Liventia hosted the inaugural Winter Paralympics a number of years ago, and the LOA has once again selected a number of Paralympians in the Olympic delegation. They are:
Alexandre Provost (Men's cross-country skiing), who is able to compete standing up. Having lost his right arm in a climbing accident at the age of 16, Provost—who took the athletes' oath at the Winter Paralympics opening ceremony—uses a prosthesis to grip his ski pole.
Daniel Lewis, Brian Richardson and Stéphane-Franck Lapointe (Men's singles figure skating), all partially or completely visually impaired. Lewis was particularly impressive at the Neverend Paralympics, claiming the gold medal by nearly seven points.
Holly Thomas, Ann Stein and Sally Andrews (Pairs and women's singles figure skating), likewise all with visual disability. All three are taking part in the ladies' figure skating as well as in pairs alongside sighted partners. Thomas won gold in Neverend in the individual and silver with her partner Pat Scott in the pairs.

The men's curling team is skippered by Ryan Harrington, who led the Combined Team in São Jorge as well as the Liventian team in Ashton. His lead from both those teams, Henry Purcell, has retired, allowing Harrington to blood in a new third, Michel Yves, with Pietr Wojcieski moving to lead. The women's team is almost unchanged from Ashton, skippered by Peggy Whitman. The sole change sees her sister Rita moving to second, with Jermaina Lewison moving to alternate.

The Story of the Constitutional Monarchy of Shofercia: Information and Order of the March

Official Team Name: The Constitutional Monarchy of Shofercia
Nickname: The Shofercian Eagles
Country Code: SHO
Team Captains: Ivan Beerkin, Oli Danilova, Jamie Chernuysheva and Vladimir Letunov
Official Anthem: "Victory Day!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrFKDXuQYh0
Other Anthems: Shofercia played the Archregimancy's Anthem when General Caitlin Damage won the Gold Medal in Shooting!
Team Motto: "We're Going to Win - fo' SHO!"

Order of March:

The quarter of Ivan Beerkin, Oli Danilova, Jamie Chernuysheva and Vladimir Letunov, Shofercia's Gold Medalists from the previous Winter Olympic Games held in Ashton, Krytenia, were marching in step, proudly carrying the Banner of Shofercia, featuring the Two Headed Eagle, in their left hands, and carrying the Shofercian Flags in their right hands. The Shofercian Hockey Team, in order to boost their morale, was Honored in carrying the Banner of King Ilya Murometz. The roster for the Men's Hockey Team:

Roster:

Line 1 (Torpedo):
LW Pashka Bren
C Sergei Sergeev
RW Lev Koper
D Dmitri Turchinsky
D Oleg Harding

Style of play: power forwards!

Line 2 (Rockets):
LW Frolik Aleksandrov
C Dat Pashkov
RW Afi Maksimov
D Mark Andreev
D Mark Danilov

Style of play: passing, passing, passing, GOAL!

Line 3 (Tigers):
LW Sam Ivanov
C Phil Tigrov
RW Slavik Milikov
D Ivan Markeev
D Artem Ushatik

Style of play: Start out in own zone, lure the opponent in, and counterattack!

Line 4 (Waves):
LW Cake Adamov
C Gordo Bomb
RW Charlie Shen
D Rob Smit
D Rob Kashpirski

Style of Play: tough on defense, hitting for turnovers, trying to intercept the puck, stretch passes

Goaltenders:
Victor Stolichnuy - had a 96% overall saving percentage, faced a lot of shots. Team lost in the semis, as they couldn't score
Basil Catnip - despite the humorous surname, Basil's team, the Rockets, took second place, in a large part due to Basil's 92% overall saving percentage. If Basil could play with stability, he would rival Stolichnuy, as his talent surpasses Victor's, but he's still young.
Erema Aleksandrov - Taken as a sub-goaltender, because his team, the Torpedo, won Gold. His 90% average saving percentage is not the best, and considering his defensive support, it should be better.

Head Coach: Steve Uriev
Manager/CEO: Ivan Moneybags
Domestic Clubs: Torpedo, Rockets, Tigers and Waves (Yes, there were a lot of jokes in Shofercia when Torpedo defeated Rockets in the finals.)

They were followed by Shofercia's Biathlonists, marching in rows of 7, Shofercia's lucky number. The Biathlonists proudly held up their guns, and fired them in the air once, when they passed King Ilya Murometz, as a sing of respect.

The Sledders, marching in a 4-5-4 formation, followed closely. Then came the Figure Skaters, marching in pairs, and some of them appeared to be making out, much to the team spokesperson's later chagrin. The Short Track and Speed Skaters came next, jointly and proudly marching in rows of 7. Then came the Alpine Skiers.

They were led by Sveta Noven'kaya - the only new skier on the Shofercian Olympic Team, entrusted with carrying the Banner of the Shofercian Skiers. The Alpiners, Cross Countriers, Freestylers, Nordics, and Ski Jumpers Followed. The Snowboarders came last, proudly carrying the Banner of the Shofercian Olympic Team. The Banner was brand new - issued to the Shofercian Team upon successful completion of the VI Winter Olympic Games, where the Shofercian Eagles took first place among the Newcoming Teams, and finished Seventh Overall, in both, the Summer and Winter Olympics.

The Banner was similar to that of Aslan, of Narnia.

I used pronouns until the mods made using wrong pronouns warnable, so I use names instead; if you see malice there, that's entirely on you, and if pronouns are no longer warnable, I'll go back to using them

Background: Zwangzug on NSWiki, Olympic history.

This delegation: Predominantly drawn from university/college students, which makes it somewhat younger than Zwangzug's average. This has been as haphazard as it sounds, caricatured (but not that inaccurately) as "Hey I heard you like sports, try luge or something?" Tensions are higher than usual back home with sports and politics mixing more than is normal (OOC: based on the influx of new issues in the game), but considering that Zwangzug isn't really known for consistent Olympic committees existing in the long term this shouldn't be too much of a problem than usual.

Our curlers will be respectful of the other team and all, but can be a little cold (as it were) and tend not to concede even when down sizable leads, if the scoreline permits. If you're RPing before me and the scoreline doesn't permit, use your best judgment and I'll run with whatever happens.
