MD8

Hooray for senseless scorination and RPination posts!

So hopefully, you've escaped the debacle that was MD7 and are readily eager for more IFL nonsense today. And while I could be like some others (who post everything on one post), or like yet some others still (who post everything on multiple drawn-out posts), or yet still like some others (who do some %$#^ weird combination of the two), we're going to continue doing it this way because it's nice and easy. And here we've got a confession to make: the scorinator isn't perfect. You probably knew that (especially you lot who keep getting the %$#^ Yafotie results), but we've needlessly forgotten a few little statistics that have been since MD1 senselessly floating around MS Excel wondering why they exist in the first place (kinda like some Kafkaesque morose [redundant, yes] novel). So rest assured, these random bits will be incorporated into IFL14!

In the meantime, the Elves managed a 3-0 rout over hosts Joseon, and all in the final 15 minutes, and all by Feldireth, who got what's probably the second hat-trick of the IFL13 Season. Stout defending finally yielded after the elves forced the home side to switch out a goalkeeper apparently, which means that the back-up keeper at Joseon sucks. It wasn't quite as one-sided in the other matches, but Taeweon did get quite close (we lied, okay???). No hat tricks here, but Shimyang really could have afforded a bit more protection from their back four. Meanwhile, Toban pulled off a tense win over Shilla, after the manager's talk apparently spruced the home side to score a goal and then sit on their laurels for the remaining half-hour or so.

Haegu Taepung - despite the run of bad results recently - pulled off a good point rescue, storming back in the second half after Oreum took the lead with Kim Hyeon-Gyo's well-placed strike. Kapundae, for their part, emerged victorious at home to Seoan Cheonma, who are still missing their rosters (Do they need help finding people to fill in their rosters or did they hire SLANI Dancougarite interns too?). It was not all gloom for Seoan, as Bulsajo pulled out a slender late win, with Maníac (as opposed to Maniac) supplying the winning goal just 15 minutes from time. Gwangju pulled off their own late win, even after Malamas had equalized after the break, and if you had any doubts, Yeiseong earned a nice win, with Hong Gang-Jeong's goal just before half-time sealing it for the visitors (of course, you didn't have any doubts, did you?).

Oh, and two Yafoties. Brilliant.

MD9

Prelude to the Afternoon of a Prawn...

Well, we had some shrimps (not on a barbie, as our not-so-Bazalonian detractors would so decry) and after cooking them up for some luscious gumbo, someone mysteriously stole them away from us, leaving us with gumbo without shrimp. Gumbo without shrimp. That's like Yaforite defenders that suck, or elven godmods that fail.

Such as it is, MD9 was certainly lacking some certain oomph. A few statistics...

  • 60% of all matches played were decided in the first 45 minutes; the remaining 40% were decided after a whole 90 minutes.
  • 75% of all home teams losing after the half failed to win their match; 25%, understandably, managed to win.
  • 45% of all teams participating failed to score a goal; 55% succeeded.
  • 60% of all teams participating failed to win; 33% of those teams failed to lose.
  • 100% of all foreign-sponsored/owned/something teams won (SLANI foreigners...); 25% of those teams are missing their roster still.
  • 1% of these statistics are wrong; a further 99% of all viewers think that the IFL people are being too anal about rosters.
Take your picking of the stats of the day.

Well, the 5th Season of the IFA Cup is upon us, and we've got the whole Cup Draw here! Just for bureaucratic reasons though, we're just going to explain that those 8 teams given byes are not UICA qualifiers (yet). So to get things along, we randomly chose four teams from each set:

MD10

Busy day for the IFL, especially as we've just discovered that Sanghae Haetae was busily playing in some Aeropag tournament (in the process, played against a bunch of teams, won only once against Globe Cup Champions Albrecht FC, shows you just how motivated they were, them SLANI lot...). Anyway, they brought home 2 million weon in tournament earnings, which were immediately swiped up by the IFA, fines attributed to playing some random international matches without any domestic sanctions. And all of this taking place amidst the back-drop of their city derby with Sanghae Yeonhap (Yeonhap means "United" you SLANI interpreters!). And after all of that fanfare about coming 8th in a 12-team tournament, you'd have expected there to be more fanfare about this match...

Nope.

In fact, two lone goals failed to separate the teams as the fans amiably filled the stands and chanted lackadaisically for 90 some odd minutes. SLANI fans.

Yes, more exciting was that Taeweon-v-Yeiseong match! A match that saw both sides nearly equally matched and both teams controlling the match for long stretches, only to see the deficit reduced until finally Pak Cheon-Chan settled this with just 6 minutes left in regulation! Wow, that was exciting just writing about it! You can expect that the tempers that flared soon after the match were quickly doused by some quick visits to the local bars (unfortunately, Yeiseong was the visiting team, so that did not any problems whatsoever... SLANI fans...). Anyway, it was a really good match, and it's only a pity that we don't do live broadcasts on radio (because the risk of doing 10 Yafoties would be just... deadly...). It was also an exciting atmosphere farther south, where Toban were taking on formerly mighty Yeonseong (aka Hangyeong). And while Toban looked to take the early advantage, murmurs of the old powerhouse shone through as Yeonseong stole away the win with two late goals in the first half, followed up by a clinical strike late in the second half. Lasa would be the place to drown out your sorrows too...

Gwangju was another sparkling city, with the odd hat-trick by Candelariasian Kim Gihyeon (we should really adopt him, he's ten-times better than Kim Mi-Hyeon) being the one highlight for the local team. But it was the belated announcement by the Starblaydi Orcinus Corporation, declaring that the team's rosters have always been in place since the start, and that in fact the team has been playing modestly well (as long as they win the treble - not likely...). This scuffle has produced another interesting legacy for the former IFA Chairman Jang Yong-Hwi, who was last seen boarding a plane for Dancougar, as he screwed up once more, leaving his predecessor Kim Byeong-Ji to clean up the mess. In any case, the fact that we're no longer dealing with some odd "no man team" from Seoan, Gwangju still produced the show, with all goals coming in the first half from the aforementioned Kim, meaning that a second half analysis is completely unnecessary (unless you're a Yafotie fanatic).

Haegu pulled out another win in as many matches, with Kim Oh-Deok producing a late come-back for Joseon, but the visitors were a bit too late to ask for more luck (or time - SLANI ref called for just 10 seconds of stoppage time...). Cheonjin and Kapundae both sneaked away wins for the home fans, both coming after the interval, although the visitors will no doubt be thinking that they could have just as easily taken something from the match. And a number of other teams did take away something, with Oreum and Shilla both sneaking in second-half equalizers against the home sides Jjambongga and Gohan Monggol. And this league is really starting to take shape now...

Oh, and Yafotie for you Yafotie fans in Malla.

And wow. Just wow.

So we'll take you naturall to the top matches, and Seoan Bulsajo had to fight for the right to win their match, after Macabean international Tritor Maníac pulled out a brace, before Jung Ji-Young's late strike helped settle the match against Sanghae Yeonhap. It was a surprisingly close match, with Sanghae equalizing twice, but failing to find the killer or the final equalizer. Seoan, for their part, had a brilliant field day, as Cheonma - rosterless no more - stole away the game early and finished off with a clinical shot from Pak Gi-Jung to end their match against visitors Malla Yeonhap 2-0. Others were not so fortuante. Despite earning a well-deserved early lead, Gohan Monggol squandered their chance late to late Shimyang get some points, with Jeong Seok-Hwa's 74th minute shot sending the fans into wild raptures.

Yeonseong, for their part, are proving that they still have that killer instinct in them, even if they no longer attract the extremely large and volatile crowds from Hangyeong. But Choe Weon-Yun's goal from the hour-mark proved enough to edge over Cafundelense outfit Kapundae. Indeed, the former capital area has been subverted into a more or less quiet community, with much national attention directed to the fancy high-rises being built off south of Gwangju. A new national stadium is being built (by Samseong, of course), with an expected capacity crowd of some 100,000 people (these days, it's not how many people you can fit inside the stadium, it's how many people you can fit behind the television sets - and MBC has been winning crowds). Nonetheless, no teams from the new capital area have proven themselves worthy of the mantle yet, and so Yeonseong will probably remain that "Imperial" team. And with the way they're playing now, it seems likely that they'll keep their fans too.

Speaking of Gwangju, they had a nice field day in Busan, winning against Shilla 2-0, thanks to two early goals that left the visitors comfortable defending for the last 45 minutes. The joy was more spread throughout as the Candelariasian Kim rejoiced at the news that his home country beat back against vile Aztec deities to seize the World Cup crown. And good for them too. Some other match figures, Yongsan shedded off some weeks of poor form to win at home against Taeweon (who had been running on good form lately). Cheonjin likewise had some good news to share as Song Chang-Gang netted the only goal in a low-profile match at Oreum. Jjambongga netted their winner similarly against Joseon, while Taepung managed to escape from the clutches of that "go-off-and-play-in-some-other-tournament" team in Sanghae to seal an emphatic win against Haetae with just minutes left in regulation.

Anything else?

Oh yeah, our weekly Yafotie award goes to Yeiseong Yeonhap and Toban Bulgyo. Congratz to them.

MD12

And we've just fired our first Dancougar intern, after what's been a botched past two fixtures. Apparently, the chap "restarted" the score concatenation program without previously saving the shit, and unfortunately saved over the autosave copy with some SLANI pr0n. In any case, we've just realized that the wrong scores were reported, and we have subsequently corrected them here below. Those problems notwithstanding, we've also had a run of some odd scorination fixtures, involving the IFA Cup, so we'll be presenting that the old fashioned way (i.e. without much fuss).

We'll start with MD12, since we don't have time to explain just how those elves managed back-to-back RAWRCRUSHes. The fact that they failed to make another RAWRCRUSH today was just... normal. In fact, barring the odd 2-1 wins to Jjambongga and Kapundae, today was largely uneventful. In fact, today was a pretty bad day to be a broadcaster, unless you specialize in Yafoties, almost Yafoties, and not-quite-but-almost Yafoties. You wouldn't be surprised if you got negative goals in there somewhere either.

As for the IFA Cup... all four lucky teams to receive a bye into Round 4 failed to win, proving to be just utterly pointless in the long run. But the real surprise goes to 3rd Division Gyeongju Eumyang - who are presently playing from the background pits of some neighborhood of the construction yards of the capital. They're sure making a good name for themselves in the 3rd Division, and even though they were only facing against rivals Daepan from Ilbon, they managed to win with a resounding 6-2 win at home in front of their... backyard neighbors and such... right. And in fact, the only teams to emerge unscathed from the top Division are Sanghae Haetae, Gohan Monggol, and Yeiseong Yeonhap. Everything else is pretty much up for grabs, and with just 4 more rounds to go. Maybe we'll figure out a way to avoid seeding the top seeds against one another (although you can't blame yourself for losing to a lower division club...).

Matchday 10: 4722년 9월 25일
Haegu Taepung 0-2 (Pak Weon-Tae 6', Kim Jang-Sun 31') Joseon Dangun

We're tired.

Let's go to sleep!

Unfortunately, no Yafoties this week, so Yaforites all over will be tumbling around in their dreams - not that any of them really watch the IFL anyway...

MD14

Yay! Matchday 14 is here!

A few things worth noting - Kapundae is not usually RAWRCRUSH, but they really had something in them today. Notwithstanding the odd number of goal scorers (5), but Baek Min-Ji must have had one great moment of ecstasy as he netted that very last goal at the final stroke. Everyone else just had a regular evening (hooray Yafotie?).

Okay, we're sorry - you had to read that, but in all seriousness, we're back on schedule with our regularly SLANI report. And speaking of SLANI, they managed a draw with Shilla, after twice taking the lead, only for Shilla to equalize just as quickly. It was one fixture destined to play ping-pong. The only other matches to end without a winner were your aforementioned Yafotie, and those two random matches in Hwateuk and Seoan, with pretty everything resolved in the latter match in virtually the first ten minutes (an 80 minute Yafotie? - Yaforites will demand a 10 minute refund, and we'll give them 10 minutes worth of it too).

Anyway, it was a bit more exciting elsewhere, where Taeweon fell to the visiting Jjambongga side, who've been at best inconsistent and at worst inconsolable. Toban stole away a good win over Joseon, while Yeiseong managed only the slightest and luckiest of goals from Kim Son-Wan, netting a goal off a damned bird flying in the way of the ball. The puff of feathers clouded the keeper's line of sight and the ball slipped through his grasp. It's one of those clown moments that either makes you want to laugh or to file hundreds of a pieces of paperwork to complain that the referee didn't play a dropkick on the spot for an object outside of the field of play intruding upon play (we got about 50,000 of them from the Gwangju fans in protest - it'll be about 2 weeks before we can handle another episode). Yeonseong also picked up a valuable win away, with another lucky shot, this one not involving a bird.

And there was Cheonjin's win in Haegu, but that was neither lucky nor spectacular. In fact, the only spectacular thing about it is... it... it wasn't spectacular. Figures.

And who do we pay to read all of this stuff anyway?

Matchday 14: 4722년 10월 19일
Haegu Taepung 0-1 (Rosário 32') Cheonjin FC
Taeweon FC (Wang Gyu-Il 15') 1-3 (Son Eun-Seok 6', Hui In-Sang 76', Hui In-Sang 88') Jjambongga FC

MD15 and Round 5

*sigh*

Things were a lot funner to do when that Seoan Cheonma roster thingy was a real issue... Now, the only issue is that we have SLANI reporters who don't like to write reports (correction, who would love to do reports, but only when inspiration is available for such reports... hence *sigh*...), and beyond that, there is nothing people don't like worse than SLANI reports (and we're not talking about those SLANI people at SLANI HQ, SLANI SLANI SLANI SLANI SLANI... incoherent Rejistanian mumbling

Anyhow, we're on MD15, 5 more days (including today, you geniuses) until the Season cut-off, which presents to us a genuine problem - that is the Academy League and the Amateurs will be finishing their seasons very shortly (tomorrow, if you care). Which means that the half-way mark for the season is going to be a little interesting... Right. Some SLANI Dancougarite intern screwed up the schedules! (I seriously think that we only hire Dancougarite interns only because [1] they're easy to fire, [2] they're easy to blame, and [3] they're ubiquitous)

Anyway, you're not interested in that (hence the SLANI reports...). You're interested in scores. Well, we have 'em.

First of all... WTF Elven godmods? Oh right, they didn't win. And thank goodness the referee blew for time when he did, because while Kim Gihyeon's brace should have been enough to ensure victory for Gwangju, the Vanorians managed a late comeback to steal some of the points for their home fans (who are undoubtedly used to this). And in fact, the League at large was a bit WTF?, with 4 goals in Pyeongyang, and 6 goals in Cheonjin. Today was certainly a WTF-kinda day, so we'll start (well, restart) with the largest WTF of the day.

Cheonjin was not having a fine time, straddling the fine line between top elite and medium mediocre. And while they've got the talent, they've certainly not had the chances to prove that. Today, any such thought of mediocrity was thrown out the window as Rosário nearly single-handedly won the match for Cheonjin. It was all him for 90 minutes, and to the delight of all the fans, he did not fail to disappoint at all, storming away four goals, the match ball, and pretty much the hearts and minds of all lovely fans (particularly the feminine sort, as he blew air kisses to them as he was substituted off in the 75th minute [and why?!? he scoring goals out the wazoo!] - he is a Caffy-kinda guy). Anyway, Cheonjin clearly won this match with a lot of pomp, and the circumstance was equally impressive, despite Taeweon's recent run of poor form.

As for Rosário's opposite numbers, they had an even better field day, storming Joseon Dangun with four unanswered goals. By the half-hour, this match was effectively decided, with Soneca's early brace pretty much setting the tone for the rest of the match. In any event, Misina's late goal capped off a fine performance for Kapundae. Yeiseong Yeonhap - the one team from Joseon to escape with all three points, likewise had a field day at home, with visiting Malla Yeonhap left to suffer. Ironically, it was Malla who struck first, but perhaps Son Jun-Il's goal uncaged the beast that let loose three goals, including a wonderful brace from Sang Deok-Yeol. Nonetheless, the result was welcome news for a club that has seen better days.

In other news, Shilla won out 2-0 over Seoan Bulsajo, with two second-half goals proving the difference. Yeonseong similarly dispatched Sanghae Yeonhap (of course, they had true first-half goals), while Jjambongga had their own version of the two-nil win (goals on either side of the interval). In the local "Northern Derby", Oreum won out after a close contest in the first half-hour before fans summarily fell asleep and forgot about the rest of the match (they didn't miss much). Seoan Cheonma... ah, those days... they went out 2-1 winners, but had to hold on to their win as Taepung desperately were going out for a late equalizer, which never came.

And unfortunately, no Yafotie, but the closest you can get is Sanghae Haetae's 1-0 win over Shimyang. So sue us if you think two weeks without Yafotie is too much to ask for (sue us if you think using every "2" homophone correctly is a sin).

Matchday 15: 4722년 10월 25일
Seoan Cheonma (Yi Jae-Jin 2', Yi Suk-Yun 17') 2-1 (Shin Hwang-Jeong 67') Haegu Taepung
Shilla FC (Kim Dong-Suk 58', Jeong Seung-Suk 71') 2-0 Seoan Bulsajo
Shimyang FC 0-1 (Giorgos Malamas 19') Sanghae Haetae
Yeonseong FC (Sang Gi-Min 10', Sang Gi-Min 25') 2-0 Sanghae Yeonhap
Yeiseong Yeonhap (Sang Deok-Yeol 64', Bong Seung-Seok 84', Sang Deok-Yeol 90+') 3-1 (Son Jun-Il 61') Malla Yeonhap
Yongsan FC (Yi Kwan-Wan 84', Suiawë Feldireth 88') 2-2 (Kim Gihyeon 29', Kim Gihyeon 79') Gwangju FC
Oreum FC (Wang Hwa-Sun 15', Choe Gang-Han 21') 2-1 (Go Cheon-Jae 27') Gohan Monggol
Joseon Dangun 0-4 (Soneca 13', Soneca 35', Deschamps 82', Misina 90+') Kapundae FC
Jjambongga FC (Son Eun-Seok 34', Son Eun-Seok 50') 2-0 Toban Bulgyo
Cheonjin FC (Rosário 8', Rosário 32', Rosário 46', Song Chang-Gang 59', Rosário 69') 5-1 (Gang Cha-Oh 31') Taeweon FC

...

Oh yeah, we had IFA Cup stuff too... Right...

Lemme see.

We last left off with three Heavenly Division clubs left in the IFA Cup, and this time we're left with two. To their credit, Yeiseong lost away, but with their lowly rank in the HD, winning the IFA Cup would have surely been a great consolation prize. In any case, it was a solitary goal, and there was much to learn from this encounter with Yonghae. Round 5 wasn't all toooo surprising. Sanghae Haetae, coming off that slender, boring 1-nil win against Shimyang, decided to repeat against Yangseo, and so continues their SLANI tradition. And Gohan Monggol, for all of their worth, managed a comfortable (but not impressive) 2-0 win over Daenam. Other wonderful things to note - Gyeongju Eumyang likewise showed that they can win, while CD Sungsan were forced into extra-time to settle their encounter against Hongbae (fyi, Hongbae means "red card", which was ironic, considering the number of yellow cards the team received at home [no reds]). If there was any interesting tie, it would have been Jangnun, facing off against Ungmyo. While they stole away the early advantage, Jangnun were forced to defend out their lead against a resurgent Ungmyo side, but ultimately, luck was on their side this day.

Oh, and if you're Candelariasian, Jigante also won.

Moving on to more significant things...

Round 5
Sanghae Haetae 1-0 Yangseo FC
Seonyeong Yeonhap 0-2 Gyeongju Eumyang
Gaebong Hongbae 0-0 CD Sungsan (0-1 AET)
Jangnun FC 2-1 Cheongdo Ungmyo
Jonam Jigante 1-0 Daebuk FC
Yonghae Seulaba 1-0 Yeiseong Yeonhap
Cheongdo Taesan 0-2 Junggyeong FC
Gohan Monggol 2-0 Daenam FC

OOC: oops, seems like something went wrong. First I thought, what is Shingang doing in the third round when the lost before, but then I saw that Seojang (and Sanseo too btw) were wronlgy put in bold in the second round. However, Daebuk really lost versus Malla Gukjei yet they did play the third round. What's all that about? ;)

ooc: that would be IC evidence that our Dancougarite interns screwed up the reports... oocly, that's not even from this season, but I'm imaging that's from the time when I manually input teams from one round to the next, and I must have made an error when doing that (the reasons for doing that were because I had a very complicated Cup seed system in place [as opposed to the very "everyone plays until they dies" system in place now], so this really shouldn't be a problem). But thanks for highlighting the oddities of Dancougarite interns and their crappy work. Without them, we'd be paradise by now.

The Non-Professional Leagues of the IFL

Postby Daehanjeiguk » Sat Jan 16, 2010 11:16 pm

And so we're getting together the top ranked amateur clubs and pitting up against one another - 28 provinces, 28 amateur clubs. And while each province has its own system of setting up their "top-ranked" club, it's generally almost always a pretty formidable semi-professional force that takes the field. Unfortunately, beyond the obvious "well that's awfully nice of them" sort of philanthropy presented by the IFL, this Division just represents a mere curiosity for local fans (and bragging rights for the next 19 weeks or so).

Anyway...

Yay...

On to the more pertinent-for-the-IUCC-qualifiers-thingy...

The Academic Division is in fact the total accumulation of every "Academy" team in the IFL, as well as the University clubs, the random youth development clubs, and the Armed Forces club (because some kids don't want to serve in the armed forces, so they escape that by serving here). Anyway, we've had our first edition of the Academy Division League, and since we're being very kind - they only have to play for 16 matches (with is... really low, but still...)

Hooray late hours! Hooray sleep!

Well, we'll be really brief then.

First of all, congratz to Cheonjin. They've lost big-time to one of the weaker side in the IFL 4-1, and Song's shot was the first goal. It was pretty much a down-hill run-away 18-wheeler for the rest of the match, sealed with that beat-the-damned-horse goal by Pak just minutes before the end. Gohan Monggol pulled off their own upsetting win over Joseon, although the star quality between the two sides was much less significant - not to mention everything was done in the first half. Same thing happened in Seoan, with the minor exception that Cheonma were playing their old rivals Shilla, and while both teams were still suffering from discontinuous history, Cheonma looked the significantly happier side coming out of the match. Meanwhile, Elves United ran aground with a 1-0 loss away to Malla Yeonhap, and Yeonseong picked up a vital win against Haetae. Kapundae, notwithstanding the bigger rivalry with Malla Yeonhap, had a good day, getting the last word against Jjambbongga in the local Jonam derby series.

Meanwhile, Yaforites worldwide will be happy to read that other result from Seoan.

Two days left and there's really no stopping the top four at this point. Kapundae have the sure lead, boosted by their slender win over Cheonjin. Misina has had a good season so far, remaining one of the top contenders for the Golden Boot, and Kapundae surely has much to be thankful for the prolific Vephrese striker. But to score the only goal in the first two minutes just means plain bad luck for Cheonjin, who otherwise had a great game. Nonetheless, that loss puts Cheonjin at risk of missing out in the Emperor's Cup. In the meantime, Kapundae have to fend off the harrowing threats of... Yeonseong? Indeed, the former Hangyeong side have proven resilient in the wake of their former club's collapse in fan base (maybe those SLANI international fans made up for the slack...), and despite a great number of draws, they still have picked up a good 3 points whenever possible, which certainly makes them the Yafotie team of the league. And not surprisingly, their 1-0 win at home to Seoan Bulsajo just shows you to sort of efficiency required of teams to contend for championships. Unfortunately, it seldom means attractive (i.e. lucrative) football for the fans (expect some Yaforite consortium to buy them up or at least stock their players on the team).

And the competition is just too far away to steal away those TQCC spots from the top two, but there is hope yet for those onlookers - Seoan Cheonma, unsurprisingly, have the biggest deficit, but they've managed to turn that into a minor problem as they've stolen away a good 9 wins so far, and that just gets them enough to get into 3rd place for now. Not far behind them is Yongsan, who were at times leading the league. But their tendency to turn RAWRCRUSH on and off at random times has proved a bit costly for them. Nonetheless, they're one of those teams that has not lost too many matches, but they haven't won as many as they've drawn.

Anyway, still in contention for the Emperor's Cup are Gwangju, Sanghae Haetae, Toban Bulgyo (oy, that 3-0 win really set them up a long way), and Cheonjin. Oreum and Seoan Bulsajo are on the outside looking in, but they don't have much ground to make up. But then again, the spread is only two points, so there is the possibility that we'll see this list shift a lot as the final two days dawn upon us.

Anyway, back to the reason why you read this stuff...

Matchday 17: 4722년 11월 6일

Round 6

Oh crap, we forgot about this.

In other news, we're now looking for yet another Dancougarite intern in as many days...

So taking a quick look at this...

So most people are giving this *eh?* look when they read these scores, and rightfully so because we're asshats and we don't believe in posting the draws for the next round (all random, as you might have figured, except for the last round, which can't get any more random besides flipping a coin). Anyway, we've just opened up a new position for Dancougarite interns just to address this issue, and fortunately, there are so many of them (breeding like rabbits, y'see?) that we've already filled the position. In fact, it seems that the moment "intern" or "ship" is mentioned a flock appears at your front door. The supplementary prefix "paid" brings in about 1093 times more of them (along with any other random freeloaders and such...).

Anyway, the reason why you're reading this (and why we're not paying them to hit the "edit" button...) - Sanghae Haetae continues really good form after playing a rather thrilling 3-2 win over Jonam Jigante, while the only other HD contender remaining, Gohan Monggol, managed a really impressive 4-1 win over CD Sungsan. It seems that in the long run, Monggols beat Monks. The other matches featured Gyeongju Eumyang derailing Jangnun, while Junggyeong, the only remaining team to have won the Cup so far, ended Seulaba's run in the Cup, 2-1. And just as you'd expect, those SLANI coordinators fixed the random draw just so Gohan and Haetae don't have to meet in the semifinal Round 7. So it'll be Sanghae Haetae facing Junggyeong at home, in front of their SLANI fans ready to cheer them on to only their second try at the whole thing. Meanwhile, Gohan Monggol will have the real advantage, facing against 3rd Division Gyeongju Eumyang.

And spent this much time writing this? Clearly we have no life (correction, clearly our interns have no life).

Sanghae Haetae 3-2 Jonam Jigante
Gyeongju Eumyang 3-1 Jangnun FC
Gohan Monggol 4-1 CD Sungsan
Yonghae Seulaba 1-2 Junggyeong FC

MD18 and Round 7

Anyway, with the penultimate match done, and pretty much two teams contending for the Apertura crown, made easier by the fact that Kapundae lost once again, and a whole host of other teams in contention for UICA qualification spots, there is no doubt that MD19 takes on some special significance for some people. We'll start with the top spots once again, since that seems to be the most important stopping spot for the moment. So Kapundae failed to seize the crown, and leaves it all pretty much hanging in the balance, thanks to Gang Cha-Oh's 34th minute strike. And while it's proved helpful for Taeweon (to maintain some sense of competitiveness?), it's angered a lot of people in Jonam, especially those Caffy fans who were planning a wonderful parade through the streets of Malla. Needless to say, there is still work to be done.

And the fact that Yeonseong failed to steal the advantage might work in their favor, because that leaves Kapundae requiring only to win if Yeonseong wins as well. But a draw for Yeonseong does better for morale, particularly as they were away to fellow contenders Seoan Cheonma. Winning at home would be much easier for them, and with the sort of luck that they've been having, it might do them well for good faith as well. But if you thought that this was just enough to do the damage at the top, there's still a whole mess of things for the Globe Cup, with three teams match evenly, and the difference between getting in the Globe Cup and waiting for the next one is just 2 points. In fact, you'd have to go down to Seoan Bulsajo, whose loss to Yeiseong Yeonhap puts them out of contention, to see the last line of contenders. Yongsan had particularly bad luck, with Jason Bailey's hat trick proving enough for Sanghae Yeonhap (we'll see more about them) to steal up to third place for now. Gwangju, likewise, rode on the fortunes of their stellar Candelariasian, but only in the final ten minutes. Seoan Cheonma, likewise (we've got to find a different word for this), had good luck drawing Yeonseong (they would have had better luck if Choe Weon-Yun hadn't struck that late equalizer). But Toban Bulgyo looks close to providing an upset and a great chance to qualify for the Globe Cup, with their next match set against Kapundae - granted, everyone will be watching that match. Cheonjin, for their part, kept their aspirations alive by beating Gohan with help from Rosário. And Yongsan... the Vanorians seem to be experiencing some sort of a slip, as they've now earned just 5 points from their last 7 matches (their last win was a MD11 3-1 triumph, just after their 5-1 RAWRCRUSH over Cheonjin). Manager Zeph Yan Yin needs to find a winning combination to get at least the Emperor's Cup, if not try to qualify for the Globe Cup.

And so we'll take our little glance at the rest of the league. *scans* Well, Oreum was the only other highlight, pulling out a favorable 2-1 win over Sanghae Yeonhap, but you can't seriously expect to score two goals in as many minutes all the time. Otherwise, we're left with Joseon drawing away with Malla, and that boring (or TOTALLY EXCITING! if you're Yaforite) nil-nil in Busan.

Matchday 18: 4722년 11월 13일
Haegu Taepung (Wang Ho-Oh 10') 1-2 (Yeom Yeol-Son 4', Yeom Yeol-Son 6') Toban Bulgyo
Kapundae FC 0-1 (Gang Cha-Oh 34') Taeweon FC
Gohan Monggol 0-1 (Rosário 48') Cheonjin FC
Gwangju FC (Kim Gihyeon 83') 1-0 Jjambongga FC
Malla Yeonhap (Son Jun-Il 6') 1-1 (Kim Il-Tae 18') Joseon Dangun
Sanghae Yeonhap (Song Ji-Suk 85') 1-2 (Choe Gang-Han 53', Wang Hwa-Sun 54') Oreum FC
Sanghae Haetae (Jason Bailey 38', Jason Bailey 55', Jason Bailey 75') 3-1 (Suiawë Feldireth 57') Yongsan FC
Seoan Bulsajo (Jung Ji-Young 82') 1-2 (Hong Gang-Jeong 22', Sang Deok-Yeol 54') Yeiseong Yeonhap
Seoan Cheonma (Yi Suk-Yun 20') 1-1 (Choe Weon-Yun 72') Yeonseong FC
Shilla FC 0-0 Shimyang FC

...

Oh, right IFA Cup too...

Well, we did say that you'd read about Sanghae Haetae once more, and here it is. And it's a comprehensive 3-1 win over Junggyeong. And with all the types of pressures upon the SLANI management to win anything, this looks like the first chance since that fiasco four some odd years ago in the Emperor's Cup. And their competition will be... Gyeongju???

...

...

Okay, so we're done being stunned, and while we shouldn't be surprised, we are. Gohan had a lot going into this match, especially with their current poor performance. You'd think that they'd invest a little more into this match, but by the end of 120 minutes, it went to penalties, and the poor hapless chap to slip on the pitch in front of his 25,000 cheering fans managed to turn their cheers to jeers, and then to tears (wow, that all rhymes! - *waits for some random Yaforite to come stab him in the back with a stylus*). Anyway, Gyeongju really deserved the break and they'll get the chance to contest the Heavenly Division's prime representative in the Final Match. To be played in... Sanghae, of all places. Right... well, without an official national stadium, Sanghae is the next best place (can you smell SLANI in the air? can you smell FIX! in the air? can you smell SURPRISE! in the air? right... good, carry on).

Well, Gwangju would have been better, but for economic reasons, Sanghae will be the venue, and to make things as fair as a possible, we'll be playing at Sanghae National Stadium, with about 80,000 screaming Sanghae fans, looking for the city's first trophy since... 9 years ago... right... carry on then...

Round 7
Sanghae Haetae 3-1 Junggyeong FC
Gohan Monggol 2-2 Gyeongju Eumyang (2-2 AET) (Gyeongju Eumyang wins 5-4 on penalty kicks)

Do you really need to have the Round 8 fixtures?

MD19

Hooray, we're finally at the end! And... what? you want us to do that Candelariasian thing? really?

REALLY?

Well, too bad, we're not going the Candelariasian thing. In fact, we detest the Candelariasian on the matter of principle that even the Candelariasians detest it as well. Of course, we could just have a discourse on why they detest it, but you know... you came here for scores, so we'll give 'em to you.

First of all, it's quite obvious that Kapundae have won the Apertura, thanks to Soneca's solitary strike just 10 minutes from time. Following them is Yeonseong, who won a comprehensive 2-1 win in front of their fans, with Choe Weon-Yun leading the way. Shilla managed to make a come-back, but Yeonseong held on with another goal to win - although the issue of TQCC qualification was already settled. Sanghae Haetae likewise won their own match, much akin to Yeonseong, to seize up 3rd spot (we'll read up on their progress in the IFA Cup later...). To round off our GC qualification, we've got... Gwangju! Yes, even as Yongsan claimed three points over Shilla, Gwangju also seized the advantage, with a brilliant Yafotie... oh, %$#^...

You can read the rest...

IFA CUP Final

Okay, so Sanghae Haetae versus Gyeongju Eumyang. Playing at Sanghae National Football Stadium, capacity 80,000. What do you think the result would be?

Obvious.

Well, to be fair, Sanghae had everything going for them, but Gyeongju really made it interesting. And despite the fact that Gyeongju is a third-tier team, they steal one of those precious UICA qualification spots. oy...

This is not the place to post such things. Not only that, but I've been watching the posts that you have been making (which do include multiple events of gravedigging), and it's getting to the point of being spam. Be more mindful of where you're posting and if you should even be posting there in general.

I'd ask that if you have any further questions, to not post here. Send me a telegram.

If you have any players wanting in, TG/email me with details.

UICA Review

Postby Daehanjeiguk » Thu Jan 28, 2010 3:40 pm

To placate our UICA viewers, we've added this little section here to help all of you fans follow your clubs into the dismal FAIL that is the UICA. I don't even know why we'd bother with it, since we're never going to win any of the darned things (beyond Samseong sponsoring the whole lot of the losing half, and some Caffy bank selecting one of our stadia for contention...). And it's not because our clubs suck mind you; it's because they suck internationally. We suck in the great talent of the world, only for the great talents of the world to prefer playing elsewhere (and with good reason too). So until we stop sucking, the IFL will continue to drag sucking in greater and better talents.

And I'm not saying this because we like vacuums...

Anyway, we're off to the SBCC.

Muhan Yeonhap: As the fourth-placed team in the MD, they get the chance to play it rough in those randomly worded "preliminary", "selective", "play-off", and "qualifying" [they should just call it the "SLANI ASS CRAP Qualification Rounds"; at least it'll be honest] rounds. And they had it pretty tough. Drawn up against Unreal side (they're really Unreal)
XM Me Thap, they fell 2-0 away, before coming back home to draw 1-1. Unfortunately, not winning is not the way to guarantee progress.

Jonam Jigante: They had a better time going through the First Round. They fell 1-0 at home, before going away to Greenlea United in Keyne Island (slani Keynesians) and losing 2-0. No contest there.

Seoan Eumyang: It's over the hills and through the river to the Second Preliminary Round! And Seoan Eumyang had a really tough draw. The problem is that they won; considerably. Drawn against Soothside City in the Weegies, they comprehensively won 4-0 at home, before taking the road trip and almost won again, failing just one goal to draw. But again, that comprehensive 4-0 win was enough to push them through to face... *bambararum* SLANI RKA Warriors. There, they had the distinct pleasure of falling 1-2 at home, before earning a 1-1 draw away from home. And there's the end of that one.

Hayan Horangi: Likewise drawn in the Second Prelim. Round, Hayan had a hard time dispensing Carpathia and Ruthenian club Szöny, who won the first leg at home 1-0. As it so happened, Hayan returned the favor, beating Szöny 3-2 away; and thanks to those away goals, Hayan progressed. Hooray. Off to play against Estresse Intenso side Skull Eaters. Again, they rely upon the away goals rule, although only fortuitously as they managed to draw 3-3 away while pressing for a Yafotie in front of their Krytenian-Han fans. Hooray, off to the Group Stages! Drawn into Group D with Cathedral City (CAM), AC Hartsdale (VAL), and Kinney Road (ADN), they were pressed for a lot of good luck, while bringing lots of foreign visitors to Namgyeong. And perhaps the only highlight is that the Krytie bastards managed to do one better than the SLANI elves. Unfortunately, falling in third doesn't account for much (save a little bit of honor) so Hayan Horangi bid farewell to the SBCC with 1 win, 2 draws, and 3 losses, with 5 points (yay, we graduate from Fibonacci 101!).

Globe Cup now!

Gwangju: Back into the Selective, Pre-Eliminatory, Post-Syncopated Rounds, Gwangju got a nice tie with Kosovoe side Mount Galet, and having the experience of many years, they clearly blasted away the opposition 4-1 in Gwangju, with goals from Kim Gihyeon and Jang Hwa-Gang proving enough to win the away tie 2-1. Drawn now against Daazyiles OC, they held out for a 0-0 draw in Gwangju, before they were themselves blasted away 3-1 in Vephrall. End of that story.

Gyeongju Eumyang: The brave little team that did. They beat out the top contenders from the top two tiers, and as such are the only Premier Division side to qualify for the UICA stuff. And if you really believed that they had a chance, my child, you need a new brain. Well... now you might be excused, because the club really pressed Sargossa-side Deportiva Cordova, falling away 1-0. Returning home, the team put on a monumental effort to win 3-2. Still, away goals count for something when there's nothing else to count, so Deportivo move on while Gyeongju count their blessings.

Yeonseong: Waitaminit, weren't they qualified for the TQCC? Oh right, read on... read on... Anyway, so after falling out of the TQCC contention, the former Hangyeong heavyweights come out into the Globe Cup. Drawn against Taeshan-side Bayern Phoenix, they lost at home 2-1 before completing the 3-0 rout on the road. And this entry gets a quick little nod down the drain.

Sanghae Haetae: Whether they'd like it or not, Sanghae Haetae would be here anyway. Winning the Emperor's Cup only helped push them up the to the top of the grade in Globe Cup selection. They got the opportunity to play out against Emberton Reds in Krytenia, and winning their first leg 2-0 - they only needed to not screw up their next match. Oy! Oy! Oyvey! They almost screwed up big time, runing out 4-5 losers in Krytenia. SLANI crappers only just got themselves into the Globe Cup Group Stage because they scored more goals on aggregate (although to their credit, they at least scored goals...). Anyway, Group J pitted Sanghae Haetae against Ciudad Soluca (SRG), Reading Town (SNO), and Trams Union United (WEE), and it was really the culmination of the odd and prickly teams around the NSverse. And despite the odd and prickly teams coming around for a spell, Sanghae Haetae managed just barely enough to fall out in third place, just ahead of Trams Union United (who were the weakest link this time around). Nonetheless, we're happy that those SLANI people don't get to travel much farther than this for now.

And finally, TQCC Results!

Yeonseong: Yes, this is the right place to find Yeonseong. And the reason why you found Yeonseong above is because they got eliminated from the TQCC round at a pre-selection stage that lets them try playing in the Globe Cup. Anyway, back to the beginning of this tour; they started well against Bloomfield National, winning 3-2 in Yeonseong and winning 1-0 in The Babbage Islands. Yeonseong really got away against The Distillery. Sure, it was only 2-1 at home, but traveling to The Weegies, they ran a riotous 5-1 win over their drunken opponents (not to suggest that drunkenness had anything to do with the win). Sang Gi-Min really had a great match, earning the match ball, and with that win, Yeonseong won progression to the sure-fire-if-we-can't-win-we'll-get-to-try-again-in-the-Globe-Cup-Round, and sure enough, they won progression to the Globe Cup, falling Atlantas Klaipaada in Somewhereistonia; it was 1-1 draw at home, but a 1-3 loss away. Go back up if you want to read the Globe Cup record.

Kapundae: Well, again, Kapundae come out into the Second Preliminary Round, and going out against Firewood City from Osarius, they claimed a good 6-3 aggregate win (Misina earned one hat-trick, while Soneca earned the other). Drawn against Somewhereistonian club (geez, something about Third round Somewhereistonians...) Metalurgs, it was a good 2-1 win away, while Vanorian Lithsumé earned the valuable home win with a solitary goal in the final 10 minutes, to put this result beyond all doubt. Going one step farther, they played away in Sargossa against Sporting San Marquez. It appeared that Kapundae would be making their exit here, after losing 5-1 in Sargossa, but against the odds of the bookies (man, the bookies made a lot of money...), they not only equaled the 5-1 result at home, but also going into extra time, Paulinho and Baek Min-Ji struck in the final two minutes to push beyond, even as Sporting added another goal (which made Baek's goal all the more significant as they avoided exiting on away goals). And all of this interesting information entails the creation of another paragraph.

Woo!

Another paragraph. So, after that thrilling Preliminary tie, Kapundae got the lovely luxury of competing against the finest clubs in the world - former champions Albrecht FC (CAM) and Yuba United (COM), and Merpisms FC (VPH) [who are not former champions, mind you] - in Group A. This was going to be a serious ouch fest. And to be honest, no one was expecting Kapundae to make even a dent into the figures. That last place finish was clearly unavoidable, but they certainly had some highlights going out of the TQCC: 1-1 draws to Yuba United, and a monumental 3-2 win away in Vephrall - it's a pity that it wasn't any more monumental than it was. But on the bright side, our reports about Kapundae and the IFL adventure end here.

And with that, the IFL shall soon restart Season 13!

And we meant start MD20, you nincompoops!

MD20

Season Restart!

And a few administrative things to deal out:

Mid-Season Transfers:
Diego from Cafundéu to Kapundae FC.
Frederico Avila from Free Agent to Haegu Taepung.
Jamie Barry from Kosovoe to Goguryeo FC.
Jordan Simpson from Hastmead Diamante to Yeonseong FC.
Ossi Euro from Kosovoe to Goguryeo FC.
Sancho Torres from Notegia to Toban Bulgyo.
Shawn Salone from Newmanistan to Taeweon FC.
Son Sang-Du from Toban Bulgyo to US Septentrionalis.
Thomas Brodif from Kelssek to Yeonseong FC.

And back to that interesting thing that we call the Season. It was an all day highlight on the UICA qualifying teams, and for the most part, they did splendidly. Splendidly horrible. Kapundae lost out to Haegu, reinforced with Osarian international Avila; Yeonseong lost to Shimyang at home (and Shimyang do no such reinforcement). Sanghae Haetae really had a horrible day, with Kim Il-Tae pulling off an unfounded 5 goal win that was not some random fluke of the scorinator. The fact that Kim was granted so much access to the ball has left fans in question over the management at Haetae, while Joseon are most assuredly happy to get a whooping win and three points too at that. Gwangju was the only UICA team not to lose their match, and they had a bloody boring Yafotie. Whoopee...

But not all was lost, as the Vanorians won the ever-blessed SLANI-Elf-versus-SLANI-Starblaydi contest, and the elves ran out winner this time, although Seoan Cheonma pulled one back to make the final minutes a little more interesting. Toban Bulgyo, pressed onwards, had a nice 3-0 win over Gohan, thanks to the departure of Choe Min-Dae and his flagrant foul. Yeom Yeol-Son converted the subsequent penalty, and it was pretty much history by the time Pak connected with a clean pass to end the match 3-0. Cheonjin also had a great day, with their top two strikers earning a comprehensive win against a deflated Malla Yeonhap team.

Incidentally, we wait until now to describe that atrocious 6-0 win for Jjambongga (yet another proof that the scorinator didn't get bonked) over Sanghae Yeonhap. Whereas that SLANI Kim Il-Tae managed a 5-goal rout over Haetae, no less than 4 players contributed to the goal scoring prowess that was Jjambongga. There really was nothing that Sanghae could do better, except maybe guard the net a little better; you could stick a toddler in the net and he'd guard it better; even Bong Jun-Ho (and for those of you who remember, that's really saying something). And sure, score a few goals too. But here's a hint for you footie fans; don't go to Sanghae.

Matchday 20: 4723년 2월 25일
Haegu Taepung (Wang Ho-Oh 31', Wang Ho-Oh 89') 2-1 (Misina 71') Kapundae FC
Toban Bulgyo (Yeom Yeol-Son 34', Yeom Yeol-Son 76', Pak Sang-Gyo 80') 3-0 Gohan Monggol
Taeweon FC 0-0 Gwangju FC
Cheonjin FC (Song Chang-Gang 33', Rosário 35', Rosário 66') 3-0 Malla Yeonhap
Jjambongga FC (Wang Sun-Cha 7', Son Eun-Seok 14', Wang Sun-Cha 19', Hui In-Sang 25', Son Eun-Seok 67', José Santos 68') 6-0 Sanghae Yeonhap

Sam-il! Sam-il! Sam-il!

Oh wait, why do we celebrate that one? hmm....

Incidentally, there were two 3-1 matches, and both of them involving Joseon. Well, not that Joseon, we're talking about that cross-peninsular-provincial rivalry between Shilla and Yongsan, and the not-so-cross-peninsular-provincial and not-so-rivalry between Shimyang and Yeiseong. We'll start in Shimyang, since that's the first one on our list of things to see. It was a good day for Shimyang, continuing their stunning form with a 3-1 win over Yeiseong, who only just managed to make the game a little interesting after the break. After all, it's quite hard to come back and win when you're down 2-nil. But conceding goals in the latest minutes isn't a sure way to win them either, and Jeong Seok-Hwa managed to secure the three points for maximum points on the season restart. And now Shilla, facing against Yongsan - the classic native Hans versus them Vanorians (we're obliged by MBC standards not to call them Valanorians, since this isn't the NFT playing... SLANI technicality...). In any case, it was 3-1 triumph for Shilla, and it was a happy night for everywhere but Yeiseong. Indeed, Feldireth scored the equalizer late in the first half that seemed to point the way to another Elven win; however, within minutes of the restart, Kim Dong-suk scored the goal that pointed the scale in the opposite direction, and she scored again with time to spare. Hooray winning!

Elsewhere, we had interesting contests abounding. For the second time running, Sanghae was left without a win from either team, as Jjambongga pulled off an upset win over the SLANI losers (at least the SLANI losers scored a goal this time - seemed to learn something from the last time), while Cheonjin cruised to victory with a Rosário-inspired hat trick. Once again, Sanghae is the city to avoid - the fans are angry, the pubs are full, and you're wondering how they won the IFA Cup... Anyway, Seoan was another city hosting two matches, although they had the privilege of splitting the results. Cheonma got a late win, thanks in part to Yi Jae-Jin's stunning strike from outside the box to send the home fans wild. While Bulsajo had their own late goal, it was by then a bit too late (actually, it wasn't but Joseon was playing a really good game, so any chances they got were the best they've had). And again, it was Kim Il-Tae who proved decisive in the box, as both of his strikes were timely and well-deserved.

And just because we're tired of writing these results, we're going to throw in a cheap advertisement here.

Right, back to the main action. Yeonseong came back with a 2-2 draw against Haegu, where Wang Ho-Oh once again proved provider for his team. Sang Gi-Min, for his part proved rescuer, after Yeonseong fell behind on the hour. But in the end, neither team could find the winning touch and so the draw was well-deserved. Unfortunately for Yafotie enthusiasts everywhere, that was the only draw, as everyone else either won or lost. On that note, there were a few good matches to watch for you non-Yafotie enthusiasts. Malla left it late to win against Taeweon, as Choe Chang-Man scored twice to give Malla Yeonhap a good win to try helping them resurrect their league chances. Kapundae also had a good game, coming back from losing against Taepung last match. New arrival Diego helped give Kapundae the lead just before the interval, while Deschamps sealed the win just after Go Cheon-Jae had equalized for Gohan. Staying in the south, Gwangju experienced what can be called a "first half moment of brilliance", as Kim Gihyeon again scored goals, after which both teams seemed to fell asleep.

And with that, it is time to sleep.

Right... we're late, and we're tired. So we'll leave this to the Dancougarite interns!

Surprise of the day  - Seoan Cheonma beat Joseon! Well, not so surprising as Joseon being held scoreless after Kim Il-Tae had run a rampant run of goals in the past two matches. Otherwise, it was Starblaydi new manager Batou Nakamura's (yes, he's still alive) first match in charge, and it was a rather good one at that.

ORLY of the day :palm: - Elven hattrick puts Yongsan back into the race, while Shimyang's late run deflates. Yeah, we were hoping too.

ROFLOL of the day  - Toban Bulgyo 0-0 Malla Yeonhap. Because there's pretty much nothing else to do.

Otherwise it was a routine day, with Yeonseong picking up three points, Kapundae picking up three points, Cheonjin picking up three points, and a number of other teams picking up three points. Continuing that trend, Sanghae was again without a winner, and the city's residents are getting ready to riot if one of their teams doesn't win MD23. And if you don't mind, it's time for the Third round of Hanners versus Evil Winter Man!

*dons the winter suit and a snow shovel*
