You can, however, enter a puppet in the BoI, but puppets don't count for the sake of the BoI count (nor does a single, first-time nation, if you are known to have entered a previous World Bowl) and the host may exclude them.

Looks like its going to go to vote now, so let me say this: We are not assured a Baptism of Iron every cycle. If a cycle takes place without a BoI, then the first time nations of that class are at a disadvantage, and therefore why we instituted this VERY GOOD and IMPORTANT clause, that allows them to get an average rank. We're going to bypass that just because "it's not worth the hassle?" Let's bypass anything that's not worth the hassle then.

Now I've no idea if this is meant to be sarcastic (it has some of the key markings of such posts, but it's always hard to discern in text form), but for anyone else holding this view: What would average out to be something like 0.75 ranking points would usually be overcome by just embellishing your roster a bit, or putting a little extra work into your MD1 RP, considering the RP scales per-MD for the World Bowl are usually have a maximum in the range of 2-4. It really is insignificant.

Yes, it was a sarcastic way of making the point I wanted to make. After all, I find the BoI in itself, not worth the hassle.

But since we're going to have it, I do support the Free Republics proposal.

The rankings will be updated again following the BoI (assuming that we will have one). Should the BoI not be held for any reason, the World Bowl host should not use these rankings as they don't factor in the decline of the value of the pre-WB22 BoI.

Voting time! Note: Pending the results of the host vote, I am leaning towards cancelling this BoI, as we're still quite a ways off from the new user quota and I'd rather get the WB started sooner rather than later.

Nations on the World Bowl Assembly may vote; potential hosts cannot vote for the event they are bidding for. All votes should be sent to this nation [World Bowl].

Voting ends in four days, at 8PM EST on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Proposed Alteration to the Baptism of Fire Amendment
Article VII of the Baptism of Fire Amendment, which currently reads:
"In the event a Baptism of Iron Tournament is not operated prior to a World Bowl,
new nations shall receive a ratings boost equivalent to the average ranking for a Baptism of Iron Tournament participant."
Shall be stricken and and will not be applied to any future Baptism of Iron tournaments.

Proposal 2 (Saintland):

Article VII of the Baptism of Iron Amendment shall be edited to read: "In the event a Baptism of Iron Tournament is not operated prior to a World Bowl, new nations shall receive a ratings boost equivalent to 50% of the ranking points that would be obtained for a perfect Baptism of Iron Tournament."

The following text shall be added to the Duties of the World Bowl Association President: "In the event that an elected World Bowl or Baptism of Iron host is unable to complete the tournament, the President may, at their discretion, choose a replacement host or hold a vote to choose a replacement host."

To avoid conflicts, the following striken text will be removed from Article V: "If there are no active host bids for the Baptism of Iron on the date initially set by the World Bowl President as the end of Baptism of Iron host bidding, or if all active host bids withdraw during host voting or the duly selected Baptism of Iron host withdraws after voting, a Baptism of Iron tournament shall not be held."

That would be correct. It should also be noted that I only gave the 0.75 BoI points to those nations whose signups would have counted towards the 16 needed. Future signups that would have been eligible for the BoI will not receive the points as they would have missed signups for the event.

I just noticed that it appears that Unolia was drawn based upon the other Unolia's ranking rather than with the ranking of New West Guiana.

Once I noticed this, I figured it needed to be brought up, but I'm personally not in favor of a redraw (and if a redraw is not done, "Unolia" should not be allowed to use West Guiana's ranking, as it would be unfair to the rest of Group A to have a pot 4 team with a pot 1 ranking). The confusion here was caused by West Guiana's decision to change his nation name to the established IC name of the Jahistic Unified Republic, in the middle of a World Bowl where JUR was using the name Unolia, so I definitely wouldn't blame this oversight on the host, given how unusual the situation is.

When your nation name and what you typed is so similar, I don't think you should fault someone for thinking they were one in the same and you were just trying to be professional.

Particularly since "Unolian Kingdom" could be interpreted to be the full name of your nation, as opposed to what it goes by regularly. For instance, my nation's official name is "The Glorious and Holy Nation of Gregoryisgodistan" and we'll occasionally use that name, but generally speaking it can be used interchangably with Gregoryisgodistan, and to use the long form in anything other than official communications would be unusual. Even in official communications it would be somewhat unusual.

On the other hand, it would be slightly less unusual in your case, since there's another Unolia IC-ly, just as the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of Congo use their full names more often than most nations IRL, since there's two Congos.

Edit: I do favor a redraw, even if it means I'm not in SJG's group. Saintland is right that it wouldn't be fair for NWG to keep his rank when he was drawn as a Pot 4 team, but what's the alternative? Lose his rank? That's still not fair since then he should have been drawn as a Pot 5 or Pot 6 team, so the group is weaker than it should be. Or should he receive the other Unolia's rank? That makes absolutely no sense. I'd say do a redraw with Unolia getting NWG's rank, and adjusting the pots slightly accordingly.

Edit 2: Alternatively, put Unolia in the group of whichever Pot 1 team would be demoted to Pot 2, put that team in the group of whichever Pot 2 team would be demoted to Pot 3, and so on. Whichever team was demoted from Pot 3 would take Unolia's spot. It avoids a full redraw while making the groups correct. Here's how it would look:

Unolia/NWG goes in Group C, replacing Allamunic States.
Allamunic States goes in Group D, replacing Ati Kaluraya
Ati Kaluraya goes in Group C, replacing Free Republics.
Free Republics goes in Group A, taking the spot vacated by NWG/Unolia.

All other groups stay the same.

So Group A would now be

So whats the difference between UK and The Royal Kingdom of Quebec? I was specific when I said the Unoalian Kingdom enters, but if you're going to throw a hissy fit over this then I just withdraw.
