Baseball Q.U.E.S.T Scores/RP thread

Postby Qazox » Sat Apr 30, 2011 11:40 pm

Thanks for participating in this experiment. Sorry again about the delays.

As stated in the sign-up thread, scores will be posted every other day starting on Tuesday. There will be 3 groups of 4 teams, playing each other 6 times, 3 at home, 3 away in sets of 3-game series, for a total of 18 games.

As for the RPing permissions, go wild, put whatever you want. But please pick a style modifier between -2 and +2. Any team not picking one will be defaulted to a 0. Rosters can be posted if you so wish, but I'm not being too picky.

Basically this whole event is to find out if 3-game series are viable or not. Wit 12 nations, and 18 games, i think it will be a nice crucible to get results in. I might attempt this again, but with NSFS 3.0.1, to see if I can get it to work in that scorinator.

Thanks again for participating, and have fun!

RP Permission - Nothing too wacky, please
Style Modifier - -1
Home Field - Central Bay Stadium (capacity: 62,306), Kugamachi.

Fielders - Name, Position, Uni#, B/T
Catchers
Ryu Takamori, C/1B, #36, S/R. Better batter than defensive catcher. Often pinch-hits for Uehara if runs are needed.
Hideo Uehara, C, #21, R/R. Defensive-minded catcher with strong arm to throw out basestealers.

Infielders
Genji Furukawa, 2B, #75, R/R. Youngest regular starter. Pretty good hitter.
Kenji Momose, 1B/C/3B, #93, R/R. Utility infielder usually used for defensive substitutions.
Yoshinori Sawada, 1B/3B, #16, R/R. Good defensive fielder, but not very fast and not all that great at hitting.
Minoru Shiraishi, 3B/1B, #44, L/L. Speed and good contact hitting are strengths.
Satoshi Takeda, SS, #45, S/R. Strengths are in contact hitting and defense.
Azusa Uemura, 2B/SS/RF, #9, S/R. Good feet, decent glove, subpar bat.

Outfielders
Toya Kaneda, RF, #27, S/R. Good defensive fielder and the best bat to get runners home.
Kei Maebara, LF, #50, R/R. He is most dangerous at the plate and on the basepaths. Defense...not so much.
Junichiro Mori, CF/LF, #99, L/L. Can play anywhere in the outfield and has good speed.
Daisuke Taguchi, CF, #23, S/R. Not that powerful a hitter, but good throwing arm and gets on base pretty frequently.
Mio Yamagishi, RF/2B, #22, S/L. Can hit hard but often inconsistent. Not great speed but known to make incredible catches when needed.

Pitchers - Name, Uni#, B/T
Manabu Hashimoto, #86, R/R. Long reliever.
Taro Izumi, #30, R/R. Ace of the staff - has a fastball that can reach the mid-90s as well as a cutter, a slider, and a change-up.
Toyohiko Kono, #38, L/L. Middle-relief pitcher.
Kyo Kunimoto, #58, L/L. Control pitcher whose repertoire includes a slurve, circle change, curve, and 2-seamer.
Natsuki Minamoto, #77, L/L. Set-up man (er, woman) who sometimes closes.
Kouhei Miyabara, #60, R/R. Closer. Relies on a low-90s fastball combined with a change-up, with an occasional slider for good measure. Getting up there in age.
Sadaharu Miyanohara, #89, R/R. Long reliever.
Shizuma Murase, #66, L/L. Long reliever, spot starter.
Keiichi Okazaki, #72, R/R. Relies chiefly on fastball mixed with a couple of breaking pitches.
Yuuto Shirai, #20, R/R. Long reliever.
Reito Tachibana, #94, R/R. Middle-relief pitcher.
Shizuru Yoshino, #79, R/R. Relies on knuckleball and an occasional 12-6 curve to confuse batters and make them look silly, which tends to play into the mind games she likes to play. Unknown how this will play out at this high level of play.

Manager: Hayato Kojima, #0

Postby Tarrentum » Wed May 04, 2011 10:20 pm

A rematch of their World Baseball Classic Group matchup saw Sakurakoku face off against the world's number one team, Tarrentum, in the first 3-game series of the QUEST. Sakurakoku managed to surprise the Falcons in Game 1 with their top pitcher, Izumi on the mound. Yet it was all sixes for this series. The Falcons came back and beat Sakurakoku in Games 2 and 3 by scoring six runs in each game.

Dessea Vallena, recently divorced from Antoni Favella, led the makeshift team of IBL and ANML (Allied Nations Minor League) talent. Vallena has said that her participation in the QUEST has more to do with showing her worth to the rest of the IBL with her upcoming free agency as it is about continuing Tarrentum's winning ways. Vallena came up big in Game 2 with a triple and a home run while her grand slam in Game 3 helped to spell doom for the Sakurakoku team. "It's all about knowing the opposition, with my continued play here, I get to see just a little bit more from the world. Hopefully some of these little teams will make it into the next WBC."

The team boasts past WBC-ers such as Gina Torretta, Ferdini Zappataro and, surprisingly, 40-year old Norian Ionian. Ionian was on the first WBC team that Tarrentum fielded and held the IBL batting average record for three seasons. Ionian, who is entering into free agency as well, said that "he felt great" with his continued play outside of the IBL's regular season. He proudly showed the media his Championship Series ring that he won this year, his first ring, with Lake Empress.

So with young (Rachel Sandoval being the biggest minor league name) and old melded together, the Falcons continue to showcase Tarrentian might in international baseball.

"These three game series in international play is awesome"

"Yeah our super awesome secret team has won 9 of 12 and we're cruising"

"You know what's so great about this though?"

"What?"

"Because they have no pressure of having to win one game, they can do what they've been taught to do from the age of 16, win 2 out of 3 of every series"

"Yeah, just do that and suddenly everything is glorious"

"So then we really are good"

"Oh yeah we'll probably win the tournament?"

"Why do you say that?"

"Because it doesn't mean anything and Milchama always picks up those boobie prize tournaments"

"True"

"So then the Warriors are going to be in and win"

"Yep"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Come on You Warriors!"

I apologize for not having the final series results up last night. I had a family emergency and had take someone to the ER last night around midnight (just before i was going to post the scores). Everyone's fine, but there was no way I could scorinate after I got home at 3:00 am. So the final series scores will be up shortly. and tommorrow will be the playoffs. I apologize again for the inconvienence.
