The history of Anagonia is all but forgotten in the peoples mind from a period of mass amnesia known as the Great Slumber. No one remembers the events that led up to the mass amnesia nor the conditions of their landscape prior. The only information available to the people is through a series of books written by Oscar Vladinchi, proclaimed the Great Rememberer after he spoke to a national audience. The military played a key role in banding together the seven separate and unstable territories that dotted across a new land mass. Through this peaceful unification through military intervention a system of government was established under the supervision of Oscar Vladinchi, whom then retired from both public office and view to let the fledgling nation form a new destiny.

Signs of stability soon followed with the successful election of Jason Paladin for the Office of the Presidency and the First Congress of the Confederacy. The territories were starting to work together for a unified purpose as the people went back to their normal lives under the guise of a new destiny. The Confederate Military grew in recognition and was soon placed in a critical role of ensuring the future stability of the fledgling nation. Elected Officials and Military Commanders worked together to cement the foundations of trade between the territories and initiate once more the frightening economy power that made a previous incarnation so successful. Soon the territories gained statehood in their own right, enforcing a new civilization amongst their People.

In modern day Anagonia, the Confederate government maintains a simple balance between the states and the military that is privileged to ensure its existence. While the People maintain the civil rights that their unknown forefathers had long ago, they give up most of their political freedoms under the guise of a Constitutional Republic.

Geography
The land mass of Anagonia varies in its beauty and its horrors. To the east great plains dominate the scenery. In the center of three states in the eastern mass lies the Saratoga National Forest which houses a huge amount of forest preserve. In the center protected almost fully on all sides is Lake Richard, fed by the mighty Tiberius River. To the north of the Tiberius River is the beginning of the August Ocean which surrounds Tempest Island.

Tempest Island lays between the eastern mass and the August Ocean, notable for Mount Tempest which rises just a thousand feet above sea level. A natural forest surrounds the dormant volcano supporting a variety of wildlife. Most of the cities lay to the east of the island where the land is a bit more suitable for construction. Everything to the west is mostly uninhabitable with the exception of a military installation. Further west the Edgar Islands signal the start of the Anagonian Bay.

The western land mass is mostly plains and almost cut off by the Southern Bay, which tangles within it the Lucifer Islands. In the center of the western mass are two great mountain ranges. The first, furthermost to the west, is Mount Liberty. It rises over twenty thousand feet sporting a healthy white cap. To the south east Mount Liberty ends abruptly cut off through the middle where the Orgath Mountain Range begins. Five peaks march southward down the range, each progressively lowering in size from the dominant skyline view of Mount Liberty. Surrounding the well produced Mount and Range is the Wan'To National Forest, which ends gracefully surrounding Lake Poko to the south east.

National Background - Short Overview of Nation: The Greater Holy Empire was founded in the late 8th century, when the garrison commander a remote outpost of the Byzantine Empire decided that would rather rule it in his own name, as opposed to a distant capital that he’d not even seen in his lifetime. His name was Konstantine, and he was the first Holy Emperor to rule under this name. Initially, this nascent Tagmatium struggled against the numerous tribes that were its neighbours, but an alliance between Tagmatium and an enclave of Manicheans gave the two small nations strength, and Tagmatium began to spread. By the time of the death of Konstantine, Tagmatium held sway over the entire peninsular, and began to press westwards.

Since then, the Greater Holy Empire’s history has been a turbulent one. Numerous civil wars have rocked the nation (to the extent that it is said to be the national sport, with cricket a distant second), the latest in 2005. Tagmatium was at its weakest in the early 1300s, when the entire field army and the Holy Emperor were cut down after a two-day long battle, which shattered Tagmatium until the 2000s, when the nation was finally brought back together.

The 1900s were perhaps the most tumultuous century for Tagmatium. The middle quarter was dominated by the Long War, which saw Tagmatium fighting the scourge of Communism in a foreign land for 24 years, which left the Greater Holy Empire shattered economically and socially, even though no fighting had taken place on its soil. The social upheaval lead to the execution of one Holy Emperor (Konstantine VIII ‘the Mad’), with the following monarch bringing in democracy. This was short-lived, with a military dictatorship overthrowing a democratically elected socialist, blamed for the loss of Tagmatium’s only colony. The military dictatorship was overthrown itself in 1995. The civil war of 2005 saw the assassination of the beloved Theodosios I Karos, and the current Holy Emperor, Kommodos III James was elected in the aftermath.
