The Sejanus-class container ship is one of the most popular products of Maritime Imperial. Originally developed in 1980 under commission from Maltropian Cargo International, it was designed for efficient regional and domestic shipping and has undergone continual refinement to serve this purpose ever more effectively.

The cargo hold is designed to make the most of the ship's dimensions, with specially-shaped cell guides arranged for standard TEU or FEU containers. When fully loaded, the Sejanus is capable of taking 5,300 TEU. This size is ideal for short-range international shipping and sufficiently small to navigate through most major straits or canals, conforming to Colimax specifications.

At Maritime Imperial, we realise how important cost-effectiveness is in the shipping industry. While the Sejanus may have a high initial cost, it more than makes up for it over time with operating costs well below average, assuming regular maintenance. The vessel is designed to operate at a maximum of efficiency, powered by three of Enmar Industries' DT-13 diesel engines which give it a reliable source of power. The recommended crew size is a mere 14, though the ship has accommodation for more and can fit up to forty in its lifeboats in the improbable event of an emergency.

The Sejanus, like most of MI's vessels, boasts a reinforced hull to push aside pack ice and reduce the danger posed by larger obstacles. A second hull is contained within the first to provide against a hole or leak in the outer hull, with the cavity between the two being narrow to minimise the amount of water that will be taken on in such an event and to allow for the largest possible cargo. The bow is shaped so as to maximise the ship's ice-breaking ability, curving to push broken ice from in front. Nonetheless, we cannot guarantee the hull will hold up in thick pack ice, and we advise a specialised icebreaker such as Maritime Imperial's Argalium-class for this role.

Under Maltropian maritime law, we are obliged to conform with WA GAR #20, Suppress International Piracy. For this purpose, the Sejanus comes equipped with three fixed-mount water cannons to deter pirates or other attackers, and two weapons lockers are located at opposite ends of the ship for defensive purposes. The standard purchase model of the Sejanus comes with cutting-edge navigational equipment and two lifeboats, each capable of holding up to 20 passengers. Purchase cost, without extras, is 85 million NSD.

Optional extras include the addition of three fixed rotary cranes, spaced evenly along the length of the vessel, to assist in the unloading process. Purchasing the vessel with cranes will add an additional 4 million NSD to the price. A schematic of a crane-equipped Sejanus is available here.

As you may know, with the provisions set up by the Eternal Accords of the Three Crowns, the United Realms of the Imperial Crown of Romberg and the Royal-Ducal Lands of Hohenstein, Romberg in short form, is one of the closest partners to your nation both in terms of trade and foreign relations. Thus, it is with this in mind that we have decided to extend some concessions to your company.

Following a consultation with my ministers and with consultation of regional councillors in the state of Frosthål, we have decided to further privatisation efforts of our shipyards at the arctic ice-free port of Sturmhåll. Should you accept our offer, we, the Rombergian government, shall hence relinquish control of berths 29-32 of the shipyards in the city, transferring ownership to your company. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, facilities have not been updated since the mid '90s, although you will find the shipyard large enough for construction of ships up to Panamax size each. While this may not be of significant size compared to some ships such as crude oil carriers, we believe that combined with the arctic location, the shipyards are prime location for construction of icebreakers and other vessels suitable for operation in the arctic, including tugboats and fishing trawlers - sizes of which can definitely be constructed in said berths with much room to spare. An equal number of drydock and repair facilities shall be included as part of the deal, should you decide to accept our offer. As further concessions, should you accept our offer, your company shall be awarded a five year tax holiday, exempting your company from any and all Rombergian taxes during this period of time.

However, these concessions come at a cost. First and foremost, Rombergian health and safety laws must be obeyed at all times, as must be environmental requirements. At least 70% of hired labour must be local, although negotiations can be made with respect to management and technical staff should Rombergian persons be found unsuitable for the job. With regards to Rombergian workers then, relevant Rombergian labour laws must be obeyed. There would not be a restriction of sourcing for raw materials, although you would find that with our large and plentiful supply, Rombergian made steel is both cheap and of high quality, helping keep costs of production down. Similarly, while there would not be a restriction on target market, you would find that with said shipyards, Astyria would be a logical market to further develop in.

Firstly, let me thank you for your interest and that of the Free Republic in the products of Maritime Imperial. It was gratifying to receive your missive regarding your intent to purchase domestic production rights of a number of our flagship products.

Unfortunately, it is my duty to inform you that Maritime Imperial does not give out domestic production rights, as a matter of course. Indeed, were we to make such a concession it would be the first time in our firm's history that we had permitted a foreign entity to produce our products. This is not to say that it is not under consideration at this time, as the King's office has taken an interest in the matter, but a certain response is not possible at this time. I will elaborate momentarily. Before I do so, at this juncture it falls to me to inform you that the Belisarius-class is not, and will not be, available for domestic production. The equipment provided by Schwyz Logiztek is proprietary and not something the rights to which we are at liberty to sell.

The interest the King's office takes in this matter is one of mutual exchange. The Royal Military is in the midst of restructuring and it is quite possible they will seek their own DPR from Lyran Arms; the King's office has suggested they would be open to providing the Free Republic's military with Maritime Imperial DPRs in exchange for Lyran Arms'. We are, however, uncertain at this time as to what rights would be required from Lyran Arms, and until such a time as the Royal Military contacts us with its requirements Maritime Imperial is reluctant to break with its established principles.

In the meantime, the Free Republic is more than welcome to order our products through the more regular means of ordering products from our own shipyards, which in any case will be the necessity if your navy is in need of the Belisarius. It is my desire ultimately to see Lamoni using Maritime Imperial, and I hope that we can reach an equitable agreement.
