The 2011 Race For The Executive House

Postby East Klent » Sun Sep 12, 2010 9:42 am

OOC: The election will end on the 10th of November in RL.
The Race For The Executive House-2011
Image

On August 5th, 2010 the Race for the Presidency of East Klent began with the announcement of President Jupoi's and retired Colonel Cash Willow's candidacy for the Unionist and Democratic Parties. Then, on the following day, Senator William Jones announced his candidacy for the Republican Party. None of the candidates faced challengers from their respective parties during the Primary Elections, allowing them to win over all of their parties' delegate votes, thereby making each candidate their party's nominee for the General Election.

The nominees have bee campaigning fiercely for about the past twelve months. It is now time for the National Conventions to begin, and also time for the nominees to announce their running- mates. Many predict that current Vice-President Nathan Carrington will be President Jupoi's running-mate, but anything can happen in the world of politics. Let's take a look at the three Presidential hopefuls,

We have three great nominees heading into the Conventions. The first Convention will be the Unionist Party Convention, that begins August 27th, and ends August 31st. The second Convention will be the Democratic Party Convention that will start on September 1st and end on September 5th. Finally, the third Convention will be the Republican Party Convention, and that will begin on September 6th and end September 10th.

After the Conventions, the nominees will campaign even more with their running-mates, all the way up to the Debates and then Election Day, November 5th, 2011. Until then, let the Conventions begin!

Willows Leading In International Polls, But Trailing In Domestic
Image

With a total of four foreign nations voting for him and one officially endorseing him, you would think that Cash Willows would have alot to be thankful for. But, the reality is that only the voters of East Klent get to elect their President, and at the moment, polling puts President Jupoi a good twelve poinst ahead of Willows, and forty-one points ahead of Republican Senator William Jones who seems to be getting the short straw of the polls, but we still have a ways to go folks! It could go either way.

As soon as each of the nominees name their running-mates, we will be sure to see a surge in numbers, making the Election that much more competetive, and that much more fun to watch. Plus there are always the Debates to get a boost off of if the Conventions strike out.

Here are the latest polls, just coming in now,

President Ramon Jupoi-49%
Colonel Cash Willows-41%
Senator William Jones-10%

It would seem that the President has lost some ground and Willows has come right up and gained some, while the poor Senator seems to still be stuck with ten percent. But like it was mentioned earlier, anything can happen in the world of politics.

An article in Hansątas, Ochry's parliamentary affairs newspaper, published to-day and translated by the Ochrian Broadcasting Association:

Rubric: Diplomatic Relations
Chancellor, Congress Divided on Endorsement
By Ariaţa Koninkąs
In Kaulųs, Kaulųs Federal District, Ochry

A Joint Supreme Council session ended in slight embarrassment for Chancellor Turonęs to-day when his choice of political endorsement was denied by a hardy combination of the Opposition and certain members of his own party. Turonęs had made clear that day that his preference for the post was the current President of East Klent, a nation with which Ochry has diplomatic ties, which is holding its first election since its liberation earlier this year.

'President Jupoi has proven to be a steady pair of hands, something which is essential in post-liberation contexts,' the Chancellor remarked in front of a joint session of Delegates and Senators. 'I consider all three candidates to be honourable men who deserve our country's backing regardless of the result, but Jupoi's level-headed ideology and wealth of diplomatic experience get my personal recommendation.'

Ever since the last House of Delegates election, which returned a slim Reformist majority, Chancellor Turonęs has faced difficulty in implementing some decisions due to a reinvigorated Opposition, led by Leader of the House, Elįsa Norinera, who suggested that Ochry instead put its weight behind Jupoi's main challenger, retired Commander and Democratic candidate, Cash Willows.

'Willows has equally cut an impressive stature on the global stage,' Norinera said, 'and has the political wherewithal to ensure that East Klent stay a vibrant and modern country.' Meanwhile, a group of Centrist backbenchers collectively known as the Orthodox insisted, in a joint statement, upon Ochry 'reconnecting with the traditional values that founded this country, as well as encouraging their adoption abroad,' thus endorsing Republican Senator, William Jones.

Willows consequently won a plurality of 47%, with 44% supporting President Jupoi and 9% backing Senator Jones.

Jones And Jupoi, Tied Internationally
Image

In recent polls, we find that President Jupoi and Senator Jones are neck in neck in the international voting with three votes each. Colonel Willows had a two vote lead on them at the moment. Here's a break down of the nominee's foreign endorsements,

Image

As you can see, Willows has two foreign endorsements the President has one foreign endorsement while Jones has zero. Could this spell trouble for the Jones Campaign and the Republicans' chance to take back the Executive House? We'll just have to wait and see.

The last Republican President was President Andrew Terris who was President for about three months in 1993 before getting assasinated during the War Against Western Cuba.

Willows Out In Front!
Image

In a dramatic, yet not improbable, turn of events, recent polling shows Democratic nominee Cash Willows in the lead by four points ahead of President Jupoi and thirty-four points ahead of Senator William Jones. This is unbelieveable! This was predicted to be a competitive race, but not this soon. At least not before the conventions.

The polls suggest that, somehow, the President lost seven percent while Willows gained four percent, and Jones gained two percent. Here are the most recent polling numbers,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-46%
President Ramon Jupoi-42%
Senator William Jones-12%

Well, this really is an Aristotilian confluence of events that could only ever happen in politics. You are not going to want to miss this race, it could be one for the history books. Granted, since this is our first election since liberation, it will already be in the history books, but you know what I meant. So, stick around for this one folks, I know I will, because it's in my contract with TNN.

Willows Holding Lead Across The Board
Image

It would appear that retired Colonel Cash Willows is still holding his lead in the domestic and international polls. He also still has the most foreign endorsements with three giving him a one endorsement lead ahead of President Jupoi.

In the international polls, Willows holds a two point lead with six ahead of both Jones's and Jupoi's four. The Lates domestic polling puts Willows up by one percent and Jones down by one percent,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-47%
President Ramon Jupoi-42%
Senator William Jones-11%

When asked about his his current luck in the race, Willows answered modestly, "Hey, I'm just glad that I'm actually in the double-digits." He added later, "No matter who wins this election, they will be the President and should be respected and expected of as such. A President has an obligation, not only to the people who put him there, but to all the citizens of this great nation to listen to their needs and to do what is right, not just by East Klent, but by the world."

Willows Widens Gap As Unionist Convention Begins
Image

As the Unoinist Party's convention starts, Willows's lead over the President is growing at an incredible rate. When asked about his main challenger's lead, President Jupoi had this to say, "I think Cash is doing really well for someone who is relatively new to the world of politics." When asked the same question, Senator Jones said, "The Lord knows that Mr. Willows is becoming a trailblazer in politics and a role model for young, politicaly active people, there's no doubt about that, but I think he is just a bit too radical to be elected and I also think that by the General Election, the voters will have realized this and they will vote for a more reasonable candidate." The Senator may have to wait a little while, because the polls show Willows with a fifteen point lead with fifty-two percent,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-52%
President Ramon Jupoi-37%
Senator William Jones-11%

With the President's speech just hours away, you've got to ask yourself, what is going through the President's head? What kind of political strageties is he making with his staff? Does he have a secret weapon up his sleeve? We might find out tonight.

President Jupoi To Give Speech At Convention
Image
Jupoi earlier today.

President Jupoi will give a speech to the Unionist Party National Convention in just a couple of hours. It would appear that no one except the President himself knows what he's going to say tonight. The President is known for writing his own remarks and speeches, but normally when came to something like this at this level of importance, he would at least consult some speech wiriters, but tonight it would appear he has done no such thing. This is going to be interesting. Here are the numbers that the President is most likely looking at now,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-51%
President Ramon Jupoi-40%
Senator William Jones-9%

President Jupoi has picked up three points from Willows, who lost one point, and the Senator, who lost two points. On the international level, the President and Willows are tied with eight votes. Jones has four votes, and is thereby four votes behind the President and Willows.

The Senator's chances of victory are crashing down fast. I think we will find him dropping out of the race and endorsing one of the two other nominees. Most likely it will be the President because the two men agree on more issues than Jones and Willows ever would. But that is all hypothetical. It could be that Jones sees this thing through the end, but it is certain, with out a doubt, that if he does, he will come out on the loosing end.

The Speech
Image
Jupoi backstage.

We are just moments away from President Ramon Jupoi's speech to the Unionist National Convention here in Antenom, Calridge tonight. It is still not known to the press and the general public what the subject of the President's speech will be. Bruce Dinero, Jupoi's campaign manager, has hinted that he and other close advisers to the President do know what he is going to say, but that is the limit of the information. This could be the secret weapon that we have been only able to guess at for the past several days. We will see in a few minutes.

Meanwhile, backstage....

"This isn't the message I want to send." President Jupoi nearly yells at Dinero. "You know that, and I know that, Sir, but this has tested well, plus it's already been handed over to the teleprompter guys." Dinero snaps back. "Do you really think that if I ask them to give it back, they won't give it to me?" "No, Sir, I don't, but I know you wouldn't do that." "Oh really? And why do you think that?" "Because, Sir, you are a man of the people, and the people are out there waiting for you to speak to them." The President takes a step back and sighs, "Yes, yes, yes. I guess you're right." "I know I'm right, Sir." Dinero says. The men share a laugh before the President is called to the stage.

As the UNC Chairman gives his introduction, the President waits to the left of the stage as the First Lady straightens his tie, "I've heard that you and Bruce have been going blow for blow about the speech." she tells him. "I know he's just doing his job, but it feels like he's pulling me off message." "Well, whatever you say, just remember that you'll always be the President to me." she whispers in his ear.

The Chairman finishes off the introduction, "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great honor to introduce you to a man who needs no introduction, President Ramon Jupoi." The President kisses the First Lady and walks onto the stage and to a thundering applause. The President shakes the Chairman's hand and takes his place behind the podium. He waits for the audience to quieten down before he begins to speak. Once they do, the speech flickers onto the teleprompters on either side of the stage, "My fellow Klentians, I speak to you today as your President and the President of this grand nation. A nation of dreams, ideas, liberty, justice, and freedom. A nation on the right tra..." As the President hesitates, a small commotion moves throughout the audience. He turns to Scarlett, the First Lady, and Bruce. Bruce is glaring at him, shaking his head. Scarlett is smiling. "This nation is not on the right track."

Bruce kicks the stage steps, and the teleprompters race through the speech, searching for the President's position, only he wasn't speaking from the speech anymore, "We still have homelessness and unemployment, even with our thriving economy. We still have horrible diseases that claim lives each day, and even though I have made education a priority of this administration, we are still not teaching our youth the information that they need to reach their full potential. Now, I'm not saying we should abolish the rich, and give everyone equal pay. There are those who deserve to be rewarded more than others. Those who work hard each day just to put food on the table for their families. I'm also not saying that we should put everyone on MediKare. What I am saying is that we should make it possible for any Klentian who wants one, to get a job so that they may pay for their childrens' education so that they may go on to become the world's best doctors, scientists, teachers, lawyers and businessmen in order to eradicate the diseases; to teach the children throughout this country what they both need and want to know and to employ eager workers to further the growth of our economy. My campaign promise is this; when I'm re-elected, I will make sure that it is made possible for any Klentian who wants a job to get one. My name is Ramon Jupoi, and I am the President. Thank you all, and goodnight." The President walks off stage left, towards a frozen Dinero and a gleaming Scarlett.

The audience is silent from utter shock until one member stands up and begins to clap. And then another one begins to clap, then another, and another, until the whole audience is giving the President a standing ovation. They also begin to cheer and chant the President's name.

Aftermath of Presidential Speech
Image
President Jupoi giving his unprecedented speech.

Last night, the President really surprised us all with his speech. And it would appear that he also surprised his campaign manager who had previously stated that he knew what the President was going to say. But, that doesn't matter now; the aftermath of the President's speech is almost as shocking as the speech itself. The stock market has skyrocketed since the very moment President Jupoi left the stage.

The National Established Stock Exchange, or NESE, is reporting a growth of +234.99 points. The National Klentian Technology Stock Exchange, or NKTSE, is reporting a growth of +226.78 points, and the Gross Domestic Income Exchange,or GDIE, is reporting a growth of +199.34 points. The economy wasn't the only thing that was effected by last night's speech, though, the polls have undergone a recent surge putting the President back out infront by five points,

President Ramon Jupoi-48%
Colonel Cash Willows-43%
Senator William Jones-9%

Even with the recent endorsement of the Unified Western States, Cash Willows lost his lead in the polls, and is now in danger of losing more than just that if he doesn't act soon. The Senator seems to be going steady with a meager nine percent.

Tomorrow, President Jupoi will announce his running-mate, which many think will be current Vice-President Nathan Carrington, but as last night has proven to us, you cannot predict the events of the political stage. In response to President Jupoi's unprecedented jobs plan, Senator Jones had this to say, "I love his plan. I will support it. Now I would like to see how the President's going to pay for it."

Carrington Not To Be President's Running-Mate
Image
Current Vice-President Nathan Carrington

Executive House Press Secretey Jane Lute confirmed, this morning, that the Vice-President will not be on the Unionist ticket. "The Vice-President has said that he feels that he has served his purpose as the Vice-President during the Independence War and initial post-war period. He also said that he needs to be with his family, and so will be leaving the political stage for good." Lute told the press core.

This means that the Jupoi campaign will have to search tirelessly for the next five hours for a new candidate. But, this could also mean that they already have found a new one, in which case he, or she, will be 'unveiled', as it were, tonight. In any case, the President needs to have a viable choice by tonight, otherwise he most likely the slim lead that he gained just two days ago.

Here is the current polling data,

President Ramon Jupoi-47%
Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-42%
Senator William Jones-10%
Undecided-1%

As you can see, a new group of voters has formed just recently; the undecideds. These voters either haven't picked their candidate yet, or they have changed their minds. This change occured after both the President and Colonel Willows lost one percent, giving Senator Jones a one point bump and giving one percent a reason to form a new group of voters.

Western Cuba Supports RAMON!!!!!!!!

OOC: I'm posting this from my puppet.

After several thoughts and decisions me the leader of Western Cuba has decided to endorse Ramon Jupoi as becoming President of East Klent. We believe that Ramon is the perfect President to start a new era in East Klent History. After all Ramon was one of the big reasons that East Klent won there independence from Mostrov. Who knows Mr. Jupoi could possibly become the founding father of the New East Klent.

We support East Klent for the following reasons:

Pro-Death Penalty, Pro-Military Growth, Pro-Economic Expansion

Military History, and for Ramon's many Accomplishments

OOC: Sorry this is a bad rp. It's on a touch and this is the best I can do.

Jupoi And Willows, Neck And Neck
Image
Willows and the President at camaign rallies.

The President and Colonel Willows are literally racing each other in both the international and domestic polls with the President's announcement of his new running-mate just a couple of hours away. Willows has regained the ine percent of undecideds and three percent from the President has gone to Jones, giving the President only a one point lead in the polls. On the international stage, the President is also one point ahead of Willows, and Willows is two foreign endorsements up on the President.

Ever since what people are calling 'Carringtongate' for no apparent reason happened earlier today, the President's numbers have been slowly declining to the position that they are in now. Each of the recent polls are given below,

Image

As you can see, President Jupoi has forty-four points domestically, thirteen points internationally, and has two foreign endorsements. Willows has forty-three points domestically, twelve points internationally, and has four foreign endorsements. Finally Jones seems to be trailing in each poll with only thirteen points domesitaclly, seven points internationally, and zero foreign endorsements.

Many political commentators have been calling for Senator Jones to pull out of the race to let the President and Willows race souly against each other, since he doesn't have any chance of victory. But the Senator from South Island is holding his ground and has the greatest percentage of the domestic polls since he kicked off is campaign, granted it is merely thirteen percent, but that thirteen percent is about 106,779,487 of the registered voters of East Klent.

Senator Jacob Estevez To Be President's Running-Mate
Image
Estevez is one of the two Unionist Senators from Jaimiss.

After a one day delay in the announcement of the President's new running-mate, it has been announced that Senator Jacob Estevez will be the President's running-mate. The Senator from Jaimiss is well known in Williamsburg, D.K. for his many successful proposals while in the Senate. Before he became a Senator, Estevez was the House Center Leader under the McCurter Administration, and before that he was the President of the General Assembly of the state of Jaimiss.

Senator Estevez is also notorious for fillibustering many votes on Republican proposed bills. If the President was trying to bring over any Republican vopters, he has just failed with this choice. This and the delay have caused the President to loose one more percent in the domestic polls, making him tied with Willows with forty-three percent. The one percent once again forms the undecided group. These polls are shown below,

President Ramon Jupoi-43%
Commander Cash Willows (Ret.)-43%
Senator William Jones-13%
Undecided-1%

The Democratic National Convention will begin tomorrow, with Colonel Willows speaking, and then the following day, the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate will be announced. It has been rumored that well-known economist and diplomat Conald Fredricks will be the candidate. Fredricks assissted Willows during the Peace Talks and in the writing of the Treaty of Williamsburg.

The Democrat's Speech
Image
Willows speaking to reporters outside Saunders Stadium.

In just a few minutes, Democratic Presidential nominee Cash Willows will give the speech that kicks off the Democratic National Convention herre at Saunders Stadium in Williamsburg. Unlike with the President's speech, we do have some idea of what Willows is going to say. His campaign manager James O'Brian has said that the theme of the speech has to do with motivation and success. It would seem that, so far, each candidate is playing the economy card.

We are just getting word that Willows is about to walk on, yes, he is walking on stage right now,

As he shakes the Chairman's hand, a flicker of nervousness moves throughout Cash's body. As he steps up to the podium he thinks to himself, "I can calmly talk to the President and stare down Mostrovite soldier, why am I nervous?" He waves to the cheering audience which, in turn, increases in volume. It takes at least five minutes for the audience to quiten down. Once they do, the speech flashes onto the teleprompters.

He stares at the telepromters for a moment or two and then speaks,

"Good evening. Tonight, I would like to talk about something called a desire. A desire is a quality that forces us to try to improve our own performance and to surpass that of others. All our major achievements have been sparked by a desire to improve. The desire, though, had to be turned into a series of right actions. Desire alone is not sufficient."

"An excellent performance shows the real concern of the performer for the task. It gives one a feeling of personal success and causes of all a matter of habit to do our best. Successful men and women take great delight in their work and pursue it with a great deal of satisfaction."

"A factor common to all who succeed is the need to have a good job recognized by others. If good work goes without notice, the desire to excel will be reduced. Lucky, indeed, are people who can study their own performance, recognize its quality, and do what must be done to improve it."

"This desire to improve should be followed by the leaders of the world. For if it isn't, then there is no point for civilization to exist."

"As your President, I promise I will always follow this desire through the fire and mist of the modern world to improve this nation that we call home. This nation where science lives, and religion forgives. This nation of heroes and heroines. This nation of life, liberty and freedom. This nation called East Klent. God bless you all, and God bless East Klent!"

With in a second, the entire audience is at their feet applauding and cheering. He gives one last wave to the audience, and then walks off the stage. He sees his campaign staff huddled around O'Brian. "Hey, where's the party?" he asks. "Cash that was an excellent speech. Did you realize that it wasn't the one that we all slaved over for the past two months?" O'Brian asks back. "Yeah, so, I didn't like it anyway." There's a moment of silence and then they all break out in laughter. "What's next?" "You have a press conference in half an hour; You have a meeting with someone named Bill; You also have a...." The group walks towards the exit, and then to the motorcade, which then drives off to Saunders Town Hall where the press conference will take place.

Conald Fredricks On Willows Ticket
Image
Matthew Cruise (left), Willows (center) and Fredricks (right) meet with President Jupoi during the Peace Talks.

Tonight, it has been announced that, as predicted, well-known economist and diplomat Conald Fredricks is Cash Willows's running-mate on the Democratic ticket. Fredricks worked alongside Willows, Second Lieutenant Matthew Cruise, Foreign Affairs Secretary Joseph Rienburg, and the President during the Peace Talks for our independence from Mostrov. Fredricks also assisted Willows in the creation of the Treaty of Williamsburg. Hes is best known for the moment that he gave a speech about the economic in pact of the Mostrovite Occupation during the Talks.

This solid choice has given the point bump in the polls that Willows needed in order to regain the lead. He gained three percent and now has forty-six percent, three ahead of the President's forty percent, and thirty-three ahead of Senator Jones's thirteen percent. Here are the polls,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-46%
President Ramon Jupoi-40%
Senator William Jones-13%
Undecided-1%

The one percent of undecideds seem to still be 'undecided' on who they will vote for President in the general election this November. We will wait and see if they decide before then.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT-EXECUTIVE
of
The Capitialist Armed Republic of Luxiai

On behalf of all of Luxiai, we fully support Republican Presidential Nominee Senator William Jones. Even though we think that both Ramon Jupoi and Cash Willows are great candidates and would make great Presidents, we believe the the Senator will bring East Klent into a age of enlightenment and values. This has been a breif statement for we are currently involved in a security 'episode' here at the Presidential Palace, and I am sorry I could not send a more sophisticated communique. Farewell.

Jones Sneaking Through
Image
The Senator from SI is moving up in the polls.

Lately, the headlines, top stories, and talk shows have been covering the Unionist and Democratic candidates and conventions. But, with the recent endorsement of Luxiai, the Senator from South Island has managed to sneak to the front of the poles. Granted Jones is still third in the three man race, but it is now a very close third. He now has an endorsement, which puts him on the board for foreign endorsements, and in the international polls, he has thirteen points, putting only one point behind the President and three points behind Willows.

With this revelation, the Senator's domestic numbers have improved. He has broken twenty percent and he would seem to be responsible for getting rid of that pesky 'undecided' group, well, for at least a moment,

Image

Jones' sudden raise in the polls has also caused the President to drop down into the high thirties. The Senator might not be such a long-shot candidate anymore. The day after tomorrow, the Republican National Convention is scheduled to begin with a speech from the Senator and the unveiling of his running-mate. It makes you wonder what they're going to use the other three days for, doesn't it?

Last Day Of DNC Canceled Due To Bomb Threat
Image
The mass exodus from Saunders Stadium.

BREAKING NEWS-It has been reported that security personnel at Saunders Stadium, the location of the Democratic National Convention, received a bomb threat at 3:00 p.m. EST today. Once the threat was validated they immediately evacuated the Stadium. The Presidential Guard agents assigned to protect Cash Willows where notified and he was evacuated to an undisclosed location, and he remains there as we speak.

No details on the would-be bomber have been released to the press, other than the President has been notified on who he or she is, which implies that they have located the person. K.B.I agents have also been called in to aid the investigation. The only guess that we make about this person is that he or she could be Mostrovite, due to recent K.B.I investigations citing that certain Mostrovite loyalists who think that East Klent shouldn't be independent could have Mostrovite support. But that's purely hypothetical. Recent polls show sympathy towards Willows,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)-46%
President Ramon Jupoi-35%
Senator William Jones-19%

Hopefully the Republican National Convention will be able to start tomorrow with out a problem. We will see, and so will the rest of the world.

The Republican's Speech
Image
Jones giving a press conference just before his speech.

We are here at the Town Hall of Freeson Beach, South Island at the Republican National Convention where Senator William Jones is scheduled to give the opening speech and to announce his running-mate. No-one can predict who the Senator's running-mate will be. We haven't really been covering him a great deal before now, because he hasn't shown much competition until now. The only reasonable guess that we can make right now is Republican Congresswoman Elisabeth Dockard from South Island's 2nd District.

We are being told that Senator Jones is about to walk on stage, so we take you there....

William's campaign manager, Anna-Beth Conner, straightens his tie as they speak, "Dockard's on the other side, right?" he asks. "Yes, Will, he is. There." she answers as she finishes. "How do I look?" he asks. "You should've gone with the other tie." she answers, sarcastically. "My grandson gave me this tie." "My nephew gave me an ash tray he made at ca..." "Get this woman out of here." Will orders in a joking matter, and the two laugh. "Good luck." Beth tells him, and then walks back stage.

The RNC Chairman shakes his hand as Will steps onto the stage. He then steps up to the podium, and turns to the left teleprompter where he expects to see his speech, but when he looks at it, there's nothing. He turns to the right teleprompter, and there's nothing there as well. He looks over to the side of the stage where Beth is. She shakes her head as if to say, "I don't know." He turns back to the audience who are waiting for him to speak. He did memorize most of it, so he decides to begin on his own,

"Good evening everyone. I glad you all could make it here tonight. Some of you might've heard the President's speech and Colonel Willows' speech in the past two weeks. The President spoke about giving anyone who wanted a job a job. The Colonel spoke about the desire to improve ourselves. That's the disadvantage to being last, all the good ideas are taken by the time it's your turn."

The audience lets out a laugh.

"In fact, after watching them both, I almost felt like dropping out of the race and voting for them. But that wouldn't be fair to you, my constituents and to Republicans all over East Klent. That is why I give you this promise, a Klentian promise. I promise you, tonight, that when I'm your President, I will bring East Klent back to it's values. Family values and religious values. Personal values, and economic values. Values that are in the best interest of this grand country."

"President Jupoi has done a terrific job of bringing East Klent out of the grip of the Mostrovite oppressors, but now that we are on our own, it is time to let someone else bring East Klent the stability it so desperately needs. As you saw yesterday, with the bomb threat to my Democratic opponent's convention, that this country is far from stable, and we all need to accept that fact now, otherwise the next turn this nation will take will be into oblivion."

"Getting back to the values at the very heart of East Klent is the only way to bring that stability successfully and fully. And I say we can easily achieve that goal with me in the lead. I promise to you, the people, that I will bring stability and opportunity to East Klent and then in four years when I'm re-elected, I will make sure that stability and opportunity stay in East Klent, where they belong."

"Now it is time for me to announce who will keep the promise with me. The person who will become my Vice-President. My good friend Robert Dockard, Governor of South Island."

As Dockard walks onto the stage, the audience cheers. The two men shake hands and wave to the audience, which grows louder and louder with each passing second. Will turns back to Beth, who mouths "Good job, boss." He mouths back, "Thank you." and turns back to the audience which is still cheering.

Campaign Posters Unveiled
Image
The campaign posters for each candidate.

Today, the new campaign posters for each of the presidential campaigns; Jupoi/Estevez '11; Willows/Fredricks '11; Jones/Dockard 2011. The posters are produced by Haston Printing Inc. headquartered, appropriately, in Williamsburg, D.K. As you can see, the Democrat's poster is the only one not to incorporate East Klent's flag into it, and only has the colors red, white and blue. Also, each of the posters have sayings that allude to each of the candidates' speeches. For the President, it refers to his jobs speech; for Willows, it alludes to his desire to improve speech, and for Jones, it alludes to his promise speech. This simple approach seems to be appealing to voters of East Klent, for, just as he is pulling ahead internationally, Willows has pulled ahead of his opponents domestically, and is widening the gap,

Colonel Cash Willows (Ret.)/Conald Fredricks-50%
President Ramon Jupoi/Senator Jacob Estevez-30%
Senator William Jones/Govenor Robert Dockard-20%

It is easy to see that if the election were to be held today, we would have a new President in January. As Willows pulls ahead, the race between the President and Jones seems to be getting more competitive.

With the announcement of the candidates' running-mates, the polls, (Except for the international polls), show the names of both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
