As the crowds in the hall began to stand up and disperse, the three Ketrilian delegates stood up, and stretched their limbs. All nodding in approval at all that was happening, they began to march towards the vast doors of the dining hall.

"I'm really hungry, for some reason," Said Peter in a yearning voice.

"Me to I hope they have punch here, I need to relax after that speech," Said John in an equally yearning tone. Peter turned to Rachael.

"You want some food?"

"Erm, no thanks," She replied, "I'm hoping to get into some discussion."

"Your choice kiddo," Croaked old Kirtley, before stumbling over to the dining hall with Peter.

Rachael sighed, and analysed the auditorium for interesting individuals to talk to, although she knew her real motivation was purely diplomatic.

Wandering aimlessly around the hall, she tried to spot an interesting or influential person whom she could converse with, before catching sight of Jenrak's delegate whom had made that impassioned speech earlier. She calmly walked up to her, noting her astonishing looks and form as she approached.

She stopped in front of her, smiled, and spoke.

"Hello Ms. Dreskisk, I must say that you really did make an impassioned speech back then, gripping... I wish old Kirtley still ahd the lucidity to be as effective at speaking as you..."

She extended her hand.

"Where are my manners? Rachael Cooper, Head of Foreign Relations, the Republic of Ketrily."

The Chrobaltan delegation quickly exited after the commencement was over. The delegation, at this point thoroughly bored with the grand standing, was eager to get down to business with other nations. Prime Minister Samuel Adams was eager to hammer out an agreement with other nations to open an international stock exchange. He was hoping that other states would share his interest. The Minister of Finance, Pete Rubin, however was far more interested in convincing other nations to slow down there government spending. Chrobalta, a major creditor was was becoming nervous as to whether any of these nations would be able to pay back their loans if they kept running deficits.

The Prime Minister and Finance Minister were the two big Chrobaltan VIP's attending the summit, though they were flanked by a large group of delegates, diplomats, ambassadors, staff, aids, advisers, and other Chrobaltan officials. The Delegation split in two, with half of the group quickly occupying an open lounge, and the other half proceeding to the main dining hall. The business would take place in the lounge, meanwhile the "business" of looking productive for the press would take place in the main dining hall.

The Prime Minister quickly seated himself at his seat. He was flanked by the Finance Minister and his most senior adviser. The three men each looked at each other with the same look of disgust. They all loathed these types of conferences, where politicians were expected to put a good show on for the cameras. They would have much rather hammered out important deals behind close doors at a conference that was strictly business. However they realized the necessity of such a conference, that would shape global economic policy for decades to come, so the format of it was secondary to the major substantive progress that they hoped to make.

The Head Representative stood slowly and tries to look as professional as he could and did a little stretching. Behind him, the enormous crowd of audience on the convention floor started to disperse. Media personnel packing up, scattered reports running around looking for an interview with delegates, celebrities shuffling around towards the room entrance; even with the large crowd, there wasn't anything chaotic happening. Beside him, one delegate after another stood up and start walking towards the dining hall. Some began to pair up to talk and others just rushed out of the room eager for discussions during this banquet.

Although hungry himself, Ka Hung decides to wait for the rest of the delegates to get their food first. He wasn't much in a hurry and decides to talk to the Ixion about the banking systems of their nations and wander around the incoming crowd. During this summit, Solarva wishes to strengthen their economic factors with other nations as it was kind enough for New Azura to invite them for the delegations.

After a while of searching, he saw the Ixion surround by several aids, deep in a conversation. Then he remembered. Some of the delegates were aligned with ODECON. Seeing that several Conglomerate members are also at this summit, he could imagine the uneasiness in the room. Since this was a summit about economics, it is best if the topic of war be avoided, not here in New Azura. Knowing the Ixion was seemingly busy with other matters, Ka Hung decided not to disturb when stumbled upon Alledrias Dreskisk of Amalgamate and Rachael Cooper of Ketrily in the middle of a conversation. He wasn't watching where he was going and didn't notice that only Rachael has spoken.

"Ah," Ka Hung immediately apologizes, "where are my manners. Sorry to intrude." He took a few steps back, hands in front of him.

President Sheppard turned to his wife, a concerned expression on his face. "Honey, how was I? Now really...don't be sweet and say something you don't mean. Tell me what you really think."

The First Lady chuckled and patted her husband on the leg reassuringly. "Stop worrying. You did great." Looking back at the stage she added, "since when have I sugar-coated anything for you?"

He couldn't argue with her there. He too turned his gaze to the stage as the Sergeant-at-Arms announced the conclusion of ceremonies. "Well well," he turned back to his wife grinning ear to ear, "I'm starving! Let's go eat."

The two rose from their seats and moved off towards the exquisitely decorated dining room. They were followed by two members of the Arcadian Air Force wearing their class A's with sabers and all. The First Lady looked back at them slightly confused.

"Dear?"

"Yes?" The President turned back to his wife and took her by the hand.

"Where are Jake and Am... I mean Capt. Rawlings and Lt. Valentine?"

"They were called away. Remember when I slipped out to use the restroom?" The First Lady nodded. "We received a call. An emergency overseas that required immediate attention. Naturally I sent the best."

The First Lady gasped when he mentioned an "emergency". "Is it Baradov?"

"No. Come on now. Let's enjoy dinner and see what conversations we can drum up."

They entered the dining room and found seats. Sheppard noticed he had chosen a table in between the delegations from Ketrily and Saint Abbra. Pulling a chair out for his wife, he looked over the rest of the tables to see who else was near. He wasn't much for shooting the bull with a bunch of politicians. Too much double talk for him. The rest of the Arcadian delegation would be in soon and then he could relax. Until then he'd just wait and see what happened.

OOC: Azura, I'm ODECON too :<

IC: Breathing a sigh of relief as the onus of possibly giving a speech was lifted from him, Thabo rose from his chair and tried to stretch. Professionally, mind you, he thought. He was in a Very Important Meeting of Very Important Nations, and he couldn't be caught looking lazy, or otherwise Satirius, and by extension ODECON, would take a fall.

As he began to walk to the dining hall, he built off that thought. The Salzlander and he were in ODECON together, if one disregarded the fact that Satirius was the yet-to-be-hazed initiate of the coalition. The Amalgamate and New Azura were supposed to be their enemies, yet they were in a conference that was supposed to bring nations together...the extremely obvious clicked in his head. That's it! He said, in the throes of a rather dim flash of genius. I could use this to broker peace! Am I not a professional white knight? He gloated internally as his two attendants entered the dining hall.

Quickly singling out the princess, recalling the face above the podium a few minutes before, Thabo's hopes began to wilt as he saw that the princess was engaged in a nascent conversation and distracted by a clumsy delegate, upon squinting and closer inspection it was the Solvaran diplomat. He saw that one side of the princess had several empty seats, and curtly and casually walked up to it, and feigning ignorance of the princess next to him, seated himself, and began chatting up one of his stenographers to further develop his disguise. He probably was overthinking it, he admitted, but it was worth the practice.

Turning to the closer secretary, he said "So, long day it's been, hasn't it?"

Humility was proper. It was key. Flashing a kind, soft and pretty smile, Alledrias nodded slightly as she shook Rachael's hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Alledrias Dreskisk, heir and Vizith of the House of Dreskisk, faithful servant to Her Grace, Sephilia Tezekilth." Her grip was firm, but not to wrench-tight - it was strong and capable, showing that she wasn't just a pretty face, and perhaps, there were strong fibrous muscles beneath those thin suit-covered arms. Perhaps even scars, and perhaps, her words detailing her as a soldier were not simply metaphorical. Though, nobody would know, and only a handshake was not enough to discern it.

"It is a pleasure to be here, at this summit, even as the world around us is changing. I hope we can work together to chance things for the better, Miss Cooper." She smiled again. As Ka Hung, the Solarvan delegate approached, she turned and nodded again in acknowledgment. "It is good that this whole place is on neutral grounds, and I am slightly unfamiliar with Ketrily as a whole. I am sure my Solarvan friend would not mind either."

Postby The Overlordy » Sat May 22, 2010 4:36 pm

A great wave of relief washed over the Overlordians when New Azura’s general insisted that now they conclude the speeches and at last head off for dinner. And the Overlordians could not have moved quicker. Just as soon as the final speech concluded, that being the General’s, they were on their feet and off to the dining room. They didn’t mean to move so quickly, but when no one there had eaten a single thing for most of the day. Being hold off from food to listen to people talk about what they hoped to achieve here made them impatient and quite ravenous. It was especially challenging for Portal and Fullip, two very large men who likely were dying in hunger from having to wait. As they headed inside, the group walked straight to where they could get some food. They wanted to get their stomachs full first before actually conversing with the other nations.

As each one prepared to get a good plate full of food, they happened to notice some of the nations already beginning their conversations with others. And, for a moment, the Overlordians considered actually holding off from food to discuss. Or, to be more exact; Lulukien, Tropek, Fullip and Portal would be the ones discussing politics and the economy with the other delegates. Lei and Barboren were simply the partners to Fullip and Tropek; Lei had employment in home decor, while Barboren owned a bakery. Neither one was well versed with politics. Well, Barboren more than Lei; he was quite confused when the others spoke of politics, the economy, law, and much more. Lei had a mild grasp on it, nothing major. But she had learned a good deal from being with Fullip, who was far more knowledgeable about politics that the Military solider Tropek. It just helped Lei that she had a husband well versed in the world of politics.

As they began to eat, their plates easily reflecting their sizes (Lulukien having the smallest, and Fullip having the largest), they watched from a minor distance the other delegates conversing with each other. Wondering whether it was wiser to separate themselves and talk amongst the delegates by themselves. Or better to stick together and discuss the politics in a group. They also mused on who they should talk with first; so far there was no one nation that seemed unappealing. Everyone seemed rather friendly, though they hoped this wasn’t just some front to look good for the camera. And everyone also seemed pretty understanding, too. Though again, this all could have been a front for the camera.

Tropek smiled a little when he felt Barboren’s hand move and grab his own, after the two felt they ate enough to be satisfied for now. Though he didn’t show it, Tropek was quite nervous. To begin, he didn’t know if he could keep calm if anyone even made a joke to the Overlord or their country. He was a very prideful man, who took great offense when others mocked his home land of their leader (less, of course, the leader was corrupt and horrid at his/her job). And whenever he was presented with someone who dared say something bad about his nation that seemed untrue or offensive, he tended to go off onto a shouting spree and try to tear at the person. Not physically, of course, but he did have quite the mouth on him. So he worried that even with Barboren here, he would have a hard time staying calm. The other issue was that Tropek didn’t know any of these nations very well.

He preferred to know other nations well enough to know how they would react to the Overlordy, usually knowing who would be a good ally to have, who would be a not so good one. And he usually did this through knowing their leaders or other high government works. Seeing as if they had a corrupt or unsettling leader, he’d likely be one best not to be aligned with. But when Tropek barely knew any of them, and with a good number of these delegates wanting to look good for the camera, it was going to be hard for him to figure out which ones would be wise to align with and such. This was especially hard when one might want to look friendly for the camera, which could confuse Tropek and the others. This risked having the Overlordians make an alliance with a leader whom, for all they knew, might be a psychotic dictator or someone who would not get along naturally with the Overlordy.

Another tight squeeze from Barboren’s hand helped calm the military-clad man a little. In reply, he leaned in and kissed Barboren before he returned to waiting for either the other Overlordians to finish eating and walk about, or have some other delegate go to them and converse about issues.

With the speech-making over Boris recovered some of his spirits, as had his two fellows, it seemed. They were, after all, in a luxurious megaplex filled with some of the most important people on the planet. That, and there was food to be had.

Boris made his way through the crowd of delegates towards the banquet hall, noticing along the way some important faces. There was, of course, the New Azuran host, though he was somewhat out of Boris' political reach. Several others were engaged in conversation, including delegates from one of his intended targets for negotiation, Satirius. Stepping through the throngs of people, he came to a booth situated next to a window that looked out over the city. "Alright, you two get something to eat and sit here, I'm going to check out some of the other delegations," he said, motioning with one arm towards the booth.

As the translator and his secretary walked off, Boris moved closer to the interior and glanced around. The hall itself was rather exquisite, filled with some choice decoration, but also conveying a sense of modernity that added to the international feel of the room. Most of the people who filled it were unfamiliar to him, though he could see a few that were responsible for the torturous auditory experience he had been through back in the main hall. From the list he had prepared on the plane of potential contacts for negotiation Boris could see only a member of the Chrobaltan delegation. Still, there was more than enough time for developing a relationship with any one of the delegations, and by extension nations, that sat before him.

Taking a chance, Boris walked over to the table of a nation that qualified rather easily to the status of economic superpower, Capitalist Arcadia. Sticking towards the edge of the crowd, he could see that the Arcadian president appeared rather bored, and uninterested in speaking with the delegations that flanked him on either side. Despite this, Boris believed that he could at least break the ice with one of the bigger fish, and entered the situation with some tact.

"Hello there sir," he said with an unassuming tone,"I heard you earlier in the main hall. From what I can tell you're a man of action, a man who gets to the point. So I'll ask you directly, can we talk business?"

President Sheppard lowered his glass of scotch and stood to greet the gentleman. . "Howdy, I'm John Sheppard," The President extended his hand. "I plead guilty to bein' a straight talker and the answer to your question is an enthusiastic yes! Please sit down, have a drink."

The two sat down and Sheppard turned to the stranger, scotch glass back in hand. "I reckon you know who I am, but I'm afraid I haven't had the pleasure of your acquaintance, Mr...."

Having entered the luxurious banquet hall, Marco Wu ambled alone towards where the coffee would be. The speeches had really tired him and he was keen to escape from the Minister of Finance Kristina Ty. She was most definitely fuming over the lack of a speech from him and would have probably launched into a verbal tirade in the midst of so many delegates from across the world. Definitely a no-no for Sylent's image, though to be honest most probably haven't even heard of their small country. Thankfully, his ever reliable deputy Alfred Witte gave the suggestion the three of them separate and try to meet as many foreign delegates as possible to find out what were their views and stances. And of course try and develop potential friendly relations, definitely economical ones to revitalize Sylent's none too stable economy after years of isolationism.

As Marco maneuvered across the sea of delegates, he noticed the table with the Chrobaltans. Seizing the initiative without any particular reason save knowing Chrobalta was one of the many economic superpowers present in this summit, he walked over and introduced himself to who he thought would be the leader.

"Sorry for interrupting your discussion honored delegates from Chrobalta, I'm Marco Wu, Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Sylent. Mind if we talked?" he asked while smiling.

"I hope you've heard of us" Marco jokingly said to try and break the ice.

Prince Arthas Alcedina, Senior Minister of Finances and the Treasury (SMFT) of the Most Serene Republic entered the dinning hall. He had chosen to keep a low profile during most of the meeting. After all the Most Serene Republic didn't have a GDP that compared to most of the attending nations massive economies. Arthas and his government where none the less thrilled to be attending the First International Congress of Economic Superpowers. Hopefully being at such an important congress would give the Quendi and opportunity to increase its economic strength.

"Zhalinkov. Boris Zhalinkov. I'm the foreign policy adviser to President Malashenko," he answered, taking up the Arcadian president's hand. "I mainly want to discuss, as I'm sure you can guess, economy. You see, Minotzia has a lot of market potential, but very little capital and very little in the way of capital management. A nation like yours has boundless opportunity and nearly endless capital, but you need natural resources and new markets. Everything meshes quite readily; what we need to do is just provide that first push. That's what I want to talk about though, getting things off the ground."

12 Hours Prior
"Mr. Zhalinkov..." A female voice carried lightly through the plane's speaker system, rousing Boris from his state of quasi-consciousness and into reality. Sitting up in his seat, he moved the laptop from his lap onto the adjoining chair. "Mr. Zhalinkov please report to the cabin, there is a call coming through on the secure line." Boris cursed under his breath and moved up through the plane. There were only a handful of people with access to that line, and only one would be interested in bothering him during a flight.

"Yes, Adrik, what is it you want?" said Boris while rubbing his temples.

"I've got some news that might impact the summit, it concerns the state of our economy," said the vice president in a hurried manner.

"Well come on then," Boris said, "let's have it."

"The World Assembly just passed a resolution; I was so caught up in the budget ordeal that I neglected to remember that the vote was supposed to come through today. Thing is..." he said with a bit of worry in his voice,"The thing is that they've banned offshore drilling for all intents and purposes. Our petrol production just dropped 46%. We're sinking here, and we've got no relief coming. We need a deal Boris, or else we're done."

Boris sighed and set the phone down on a nearby counter. It was a big problem, no doubt, but then Adrik was always caught up in the melodrama of things. Picking it up he stated with resolve,"Look Adrik, we can pull through this no sweat. Have the modifications to the platforms done out of the government pocket and reassure investors that it's a temporary setback. We might be out of operation for a few months, that's all, and in the meantime we just stall them. Promise a reduction in corporate tax as a part of the budget revisions. Do whatever. Just make sure that you put on an air of confidence and control. The last thing we need is our biggest investment in energy falling out on us during an international economic summit."

"Right, I'll do that. Well whether or not I can keep them stalled is still up to you Boris, pull through up there and we're guaranteed business confidence for at least as long as we need to make the modifications to the offshore rigs. Good luck."

Rachael nodded, before leaning backwards slightly so she was supported by a chair behind her.

"Yes it's nice to have no hostilities between anyone, and it's even better to have such a fantastic opportunity for growth."

Rachael then looked at the Solarvan delegate, nodded again, and smiled.

"If I were to tell both of you the full story behind Ketrily, I would probably bore you to death; so I'll just say the basics. We're an island nation, with Libertarian principles backing it. Up to 50 years or so ago, it was more of an Authoritarian Democracy, then old John Kirtley got elected giving no taxes or regulation to business, political and civil freedoms began to exist, our economy boomed, and voilà."

"The only problem I see came along after his election is the crime, degenerates trying to claw some money by force. The only other issue is everyone claims we are an Anarchy... Which gets on our nerves."

"My goodness, I'm babbling like an idiot! I'm intrigued by both of your nation's, I know the basics, but not much more than that."

After Marco departed from the rest of the Sylentian party in search of coffee, Alfred and Kristina led the rest of the group to find a table. There clearly was much to eat, the delightful scent of the sumptuous feast was almost tangible and as such, the aides and other lower-ranking officials scattered to find food.

The sound of conversation throughout the dining hall was robust, and Alfred Witte felt the political urge in him to get up and socialize, but his age of 72 was definitely catching up on him. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs or not, he had to sit down on a chair and rest. His legs were already aching just from the walk from the auditorium. Long gone were the days of frantic backroom negotiations over night, but if someone was to come over and converse for a while he felt he could manage.

"Just stay put. We'll need you to conserve your strength for the next few days" Kristina remarked as she sat down next to Alfred.

"Ah, thank you for your consideration Lady Kristina, I'll be fine in a jiffy. I think I can manage.."

"No. Just stay put."

"But..."

"No!" she snapped.

Alfred sighed. There was no point arguing with the Minister of Finance, she was right and she could also make life miserable when people don't do things her way. He silently hoped none of that attitude would set off any unpleasantness during the summit. In the meantime, he noticed several tables away Marco was already getting busy with the delegation from Chrobalta. Glancing back at Kristina, he saw that she noticed as well and got up from the table. Probably didn't want to be outdone by a youngster, Alfred chuckled to himself.

As he started sipping water on the near empty table, he hoped somebody would indeed come over and talk. It would be a bit boring listening to the aides eat and gossip about.

Kristina set off and looked around, trying to analyze the situation. The New Azuran host seemed to be missing, but that was fine, she wasn't too sure if she could approach them that easily. She recognized also the Amalgamate envoy, who Kristina thought seemed like an impressive character and worth talking too, but she seemed busy with two other delegates. Likewise, the Arcadian President who also gave an interesting speech, was occupied. Disappointed, she tried looking for some of the smaller nations instead, perhaps they would have more in common with Sylent and could work together during this summit. Certainly they could try and form a bloc to better present the joint interests of those who are economically less powerful in this summit during the formal talks in the next few days. After more peering about, she saw that the delegation from the Empire of the Overlordy weren't occupied and strode over to their table.

"Good evening. Kristina Ty. Minister of Finance of the Republic of Sylent. Please forgive my lapse of knowledge, but whom may you be?" she asked curtly, her stern gaze sweeping past the several individuals seated at the table.

The Polythinian Economic Envoy, Aaron O'Brien, left the opening ceremony scot-free and walked into the dining hall as cooly as possible. He scanned the room for someone to chat with until something exciting happened. He noticed men and women awkwardly conversing and bumping into each other, likely chalked up to the ODECON-Conglomerate rift. Aaron, the young man that he was, had the urge to text "At big economic conference. Old fogeys trying hard to stay on topic" to Schmitter, a popular microblogging site; but ignored the urge on the basis that if he was photographed doing so, his nation would be taking a big hit to its standing.

He saw a panting man sitting down nearby, likely a delegate from Sylent. What do I call him? A Sylenter? Sylentian? Ah, screw the demonym, I'll just introduce myself. Aaron took the opportunity, ignoring the fact that age differences might cause some odd friction and calmly walked up to him. Hand outstretched, he took a seat next to him and said "Evening sir, I'm Aaron O'Brien, Economic Envoy of the Shahdom of Polythinia, might I ask your name?"

Alfred shook the outstretched hand vigorously, or as vigorously as his rather feeble strength allowed him, and smiled warmly at Aaron.

"Alfred Witte, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Republic of Sylent. Good thing you showed up Mr. O'Brien, is it alright for me to call you that? Its very kind of you to make some time for an elderly man like me. So! Polythinia. I do believe our nations have never had any relations before. Very pleased to meet you, hopefully we'll get to know each other better during this summit. I notice we both represent lesser economic powers here, just tossing the question out mind you, what do you think of us smaller nations helping one another out during this summit?"

Minotzia wrote:"Zhalinkov.

Good luck."

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Zhalinkov." The President leaned back in his chair and emptied the rest of his scotch. He stared at Boris with a penetrating gaze while his mind quickly thought about what Boris had said. What are you after?

The President continued, "Mr. Zhalinkov, you seem to have something specific in mind. When you make remarks like "getting things off the ground" it doesn't just sound like the casual BS that's goin' on all around this room." The President waved around the room at the numerous groups of delegates huddled together. "Now tell me, what is it you need? What is it you want?"

"Of course, Mister Witte. My government has strong feelings over the issue of us developing nations, and would be delighted to have some sort of leverage for economic growth in this congress; you might want to speak to several other delegates to build something of a developing powers coalition..."

Sephilia nodded, her arms across her chest as she thought of a few words to say. "The Amalgamate, for better or for worse, is an accumulation of city-states acquired through settlement, war, land purchases, or any combination of either. We're governed by the Tsellian, a religious faith pertaining to the Enkur. Generally, that's the main features of us, and I'm sure our Solarvan friend has much more exciting things to say about both us and the Solarvans in generally." She winked at Ka Hung, smiling.

"We were at war once, and I'm surprised we finished relations most amicably."

Nearly all of the Overlordians were just about done with their meals, ready to walk off and converse with some delegates. However, by chance, one of the delegates from Sylent was making her way over to their table. And wisely assuming she was coming to talk, they stayed where they were sitting. Waiting for the delegate to come over and start the conversation. They agreed, however, that maybe Fullip and Portal should split up and try to discuss other matters with the other delegates. Spread their conversations and such. However, first they should properly great the woman who came over. Who introduced herself as Kristina Ty, the Minister of Finance in the Republic of Sylent. Standing up, Lulukien put his hand out to shake her.

“Lulukien Vin Yorgale, Overlord of the Empire of the Overlordy.” He replied back. “This is Tropek Rudfesht, out Military man, his partner Barboren, Fullip Xodem and his wife Lei, and Portal La’Port, our Technologies Adviser.” He went on.

Sitting down, he offered a seat to her, for a moment rotating his right hand.

“So, where do you wish to begin?” he asked, rotating his right hand again before calming. They would have suggested an idea, but not knowing the nation well enough, they didn’t know where to begin.

"Of course, of course" Alfred replied while bobbing his head. "You've read my mind Mr. O'Brien. A coalition was exactly what we were looking for. My two colleagues Kristina and ... umm ... whathisname ... Marco, that's right, how could i forget? Yes, my two colleagues Kristina and Marco are currently looking around for other like-minded nations. Or they should be, I can't really recall if I told them to do so..."

"Anyhow, aside from fighting restrictions that would hinder both our countries economic growth, is their anything specific Polythinia is also seeking during this summit?" Alfred inquired. "I'm sure if we come to a certain understanding we'll be able to support each other better. Sylent hopes to leave with friendlier economic ties with more nations as well as have assurance of less trade barriers so that our developing manufacturing industry can grow. Can we count on your support?"

"Lulukien" Kristina Ty started, with no regards for formality, "I'm sure we've all come to this summit hoping for one thing or another. I'll be frank and not waste your time, the Republic of Sylent is a developing nation. We're here primarily to secure the growth of our relatively small but growing manufacturing industry. To that end, we want foreign investment and assurance of no trade barriers. What I want to know is, where does Overlordy stand?"

She stared intently at the leader, unaware that it makes most people at the very least uncomfortable.

Sylent wrote:Having entered the luxurious banquet hall, Marco Wu ambled alone towards where the coffee would be.

Finance Minister Pete Rubin gazing back at the Foreign Affairs Minister from Sylent responded by saying "Of course we have heard of you, we have done our research on all of the nations attending them summit, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to discuss business with your state." Pete now motioned for the Foreign Minister to seat himself with the Chrobaltan delegation. "We have much to discuss."

Meanwhile several Chrobaltan diplomats, mid ranked in the pecking order, were standing around the bar chatting up diplomats and delegates from other nations. They were trying to get more traction for an international stock exchange. The fact of the matter was that differing laws in different countries, as well as bureaucracy and red tape made it very difficult for the international trade of securities to happen. The diplomats spoke amongst themselves for a moment, hoping delegates from foreign nations would join into the discussion. "The fact of the matter is that the markets are too restricted for any reasonable trade to occur. Of course we believe in regulation, but shouldn't there be some relative uniformity in the system between nations, the fact of the matter is that international security trading is a pain in the ass if it involves another nation."

"We were at war once, and I'm surprised we finished relations most amicably."

"...M-my," Ka Hung replied slightly embarrassed suddenly becoming the center of attention of the group and began slowly. "Well for starters on the economic level, our economy is centralized around information, an information-based economy you can say." He started to place his hands in his slack pockets and started to lean his back on a column close to him. "Information and knowledge was key to our success. Since we were an isolationist island nation, people would think we would be technologically deprived. But interestingly enough, our people find technological advancement as vital for our economy. With having little competition, our economy boomed."

People could tell he's getting excited. "Through centuries of development, we have developed systems and techniques differently from the rest of the world if not a slight variation emphasizing efficiency and no waste as wastes were useless." Digging in his left pocket he took out a thin device no bigger than his hand with a small screen. "See this? This is the basis of our current economy. Well not literally, but I think you could get my point." He chuckled after his embarrassment faded. "Very tech-heavy."

Placing the device hand in his pocket, he begin to speak again. "Then again as for diplomacy, I really got to thanks Johnathan Wu, our foreign minister, and our diplomats. As Head Representative, I have to give them credit for foreign relations with other nations as their work is quite amazing I got to say. I was very surprised myself Ms. Dreskisk."

"Intriguing", said Rachael with a genuinely interested look at Ka Hung and is little device, "Your nation is almost futuristic in that sense... An economy built around state-of-the-art technology..."

She pondered for a moment, before returning back to reality.

"I'm glad our nations can have a chance to grow like this, Economically this is our nation's largest opportunity to expand... Since... Well... Ever! There are so many chances and possibilities that can come out of this, I still can't get my head around it."

"I just hope we don't get bogged down by compromise."

Compulsory Consumerist State

Postby Saint Abbra » Sun May 23, 2010 12:43 pm

The Saint Abbran delegation had scattered at the scent of food. Most of the businessmen were chatting with each other and finding likeminded individuals; people who believed in the policy of ‘hands off my corporation’, and several had somewhat success at this task. At the same time, the politicians discussed the speeches while they jokingly acquired some food. While Mr. Tell and Mr. Bishop took place at one of the dining tables, the other dispersed to find people with whom they could converse.
Mr. Ashby Furman walked past a group of delegates, and overheard the last sentence: “that international security trading is a pain in the ass if it involves another nation.” Reacting upon that, he introduced himself to the group:
“My gentlemen, if I may interrupt a moment please; I am from Saint Abbra, where I am Minister of Corporative Rights. Might I ask you your name, and would you explain your viewpoint to a newcomer?”
He looked from face to face, waiting for a response.

A bit further away, Mr. Walt McLean and Mr. Price were discussing the difference between diplomatic relations between nations and trading relations between their major corporations. Mr. McLean said: “You’re well aware of our history, Donald. If our relations with Konstantinupolis hadn’t been so forthright in trade, they would never have supported our revolution against the confederacy. Diplomacy grows more from commerce between two nations than it does from two diplomats meeting each other.”
To which Mr. Price responded: “At the same time, the crisis occurred because of a crisis in diplomacy. Had the confederacy acted more consistent in the foreign policy, and had they not nearly brought the nation to war against Konstantinupolis, the diplomats would have called in assistance to quell the revolution. The revolution was more the result of the confederacy’s diplomatic failings than the bourgeois’ relations with Konstantinupolis.”
